Mike mcclure locked in his expert pga golf picks, daily fantasy lineups, fantasy golf projections and sleepers for masters 2024 at augusta national.

The last time we saw Phil Mickelson at Augusta National Golf Club, he tied a career-best final round score at the Masters (65) en route to a second-place finish. He will try to pick up where he left off a year ago at the 2024 Masters, which begins on Thursday. Mickelson, a three-time winner of the event, hadn't had even a top-20 Masters finish since 2015 prior to last year. At 52, he became the oldest player in tournament history to finish inside the top five, and now at 53, he has his sights on finishing one spot better on the 2024 Masters leaderboard.

The over-50 crowd also part of the field includes Mike Weir (53) and Jose Maria Olazabal (58), while there's an over-60 duo in Vijay Singh (61) and Fred Couples (64). Mickelson has the shortest 2024 Masters odds among these PGA Tour veterans at 100-1, while the top of the Masters odds 2024 consists of Scottie Scheffler (13-4) and Rory McIlroy (10-1). Finally, at the Arnold Palmer Invitation, another signature event, McClure recommended using Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. The result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes, and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

Top 2024 Masters One and Done picks

One of McClure's top One and Done picks for the Masters is Brooks Koepka. There is no better time to use Koepka in a one-and-done contest than at a major championship, as he already has five major victories. He has won at least one major in four of the previous seven years, including the PGA Championship last year.

Koepka is still seeking his first green jacket after finishing second last year in a tournament in which he entered the final round with the lead. One golfer McClure is targeting in his 2024 Masters DFS lineups is Justin Thomas. Thomas parted ways with caddie Jim Mackay last week after 2.5 years together, which might be the shake-up he needs to get back on track before the first major of the year. Last year was not a banner season for Thomas, who missed six cuts and posted just four top-10 finishes in 21 events.

However, he opened the 2024 season with back-to-back top-six finishes at the American Express and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Thomas ranks sixth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained approaching the green and ninth in birdie average, and iron play is always critical at Augusta National. Top 2024 Masters Fantasy Golf picks, projections

One of McClure's top fantasy golf picks is Scottie Scheffler. The 2022 champion notched a 10th-place finish in last year's Masters, and he's been on a tear entering this year's event. Scheffler had back-to-back wins in March before just missing three in a row as he was runner-up in the following tournament. Over his last six events, the World No. 1 has shown why he has that lofty ranking as he's placed in the top 10 in all six starts.

Scheffler is a big-tournament player who was one of just three golfers to have three top-10s across the four majors last year. 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur: Lottie Woad finishes birdie, birdie to become tournament's fifth winner

Woad thrilled down the stretch on a pair of difficult holes with the tournament on the line.

Lottie Woad made two consecutive par-4 birdies to close out the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur in perhaps the most exciting finish across the tournament's five-year history. The No. 4 women's amateur golfer in the world walked to the 17th tee box down one stroke to Bailey Shoemaker only to walk off No. 18 the fifth champion in this tournament's history.

Shoemaker, a freshman at USC, was in the house ahead of Woad with a stunning 66 that was three shots better than the rest of the field on Saturday. It marked the first 66 in the history of the final round of this tournament at Augusta National. That put Shoemaker at 7 under for the tournament. Woad, a Florida State sophomore from England who started the day 5 under and in the final pairing, had a number she knew she needed to match.

Following a birdie on the par-5 15th and a par that nearly went for birdie at the par-3 16th, Woad hit an approach into No. 17, giving herself a chance to tie the tournament at 7 under. She walked that one in with a casualness not normally reserved for the final round of a tournament at Augusta National.

Then she went to the 18th knowing she needed 4 to get to a playoff and 3 to win. Woad destroyed a drive and hit her second shot just left and long of the hole, giving herself a perfect look at the victory. NBC analyst Paige Mackenzie said it was the perfect way to play that golf hole. Woad put that putt right in the middle of the cup, and despite the subdued celebration, it won her the tournament.

"I watched this event when I was younger, so I always wanted to play in it," she told Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley after the round. "To win it is just really special. There was a lot of pressure, but I was generally just having fun. I had a great caddie with me. He was helping me stay in the moment. Just enjoying and embracing it."

Woad said the turning point was a clutch par save at the par-4 14th, which set her up for the all time finish.

"I knew coming in there were some good hole locaitions for me to get at," she added. "I managed to hole some nice putts at the end."

That's an understatement. For a while, it looked as if Shoemaker was in perfect position. A former runner up at the Drive Chip and Putt at Augusta National, her 66 was a stunner and nearly held up as the last few groups finished playing the golf course.

"Obviously, you're going to be disappointed," she told NBC, "but Lottie had a heck of a finish. Birdie, birdie the last two holes is amazing so that's awesome for her. Little disappointed, but did everything I had and still shot bogey-free 66 at Augusta. It is what it is, you know?"

What it is ... is one of the great finishes in recent memory at Augusta National in either the ANWA or the Masters. A 3-3 conclusion to win any tournament is wild. A 3-3 finish on the tough 17th and 18th at Augusta National is also wild. So, combine those elements, and finishing 3-3 with the tournament on the line -- in just your second appearance at the ANWA and no apparent nerves -- that's absolutely insane.

How Dawn Staley, South Carolina beat NC State in Women’s Final Four

South Carolina remains unbeaten, advances to title game

No. 1 South Carolina is one game away from perfection.

The Gamecocks (37-0) turned a close game into a blowout in the second half, pulling away from No. 3 NC State (31-7) for a 78-59 win in the first Final Four semifinal Friday in Cleveland. South Carolina will face the winner of No. 1 Iowa and No. 3 Connecticut in the national championship Sunday.

South Carolina led NC State by just one point at halftime, but outscored it 29-6 in the third quarter. Kamilla Cardoso led the Gamecocks with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Ashlyn Watkins contributed 20 rebounds off the bench.

Iowa and UConn will meet in the second semifinal , with tipoff expected around 9:30 p.m. ET.

CLEVELAND — This was the way it always had to end: Iowa versus South Carolina. Caitlin Clark’s final chance at a national title against the undefeated Gamecocks, a rematch of the epic 2023 Final Four clash that catapulted Clark into superstardom.

South Carolina once again enters as the No. 1 overall seed, unbeaten this season and attempting to complete the 10th undefeated campaign in NCAA women’s history. Just like in 2022-23, the Gamecocks boast the best defensive rating in the country, per Her Hoop Stats, and the Hawkeyes have the best offense. The country’s deepest team faces the national player of the year for all the marbles.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s title game, it’s instructive to think back to last year’s contest. South Carolina took away Clark’s playmaking. The Gamecocks defenders stayed glued to Iowa’s shooters to avoid giving up a high volume of 3-pointers. That left the middle of the floor open, however, for Clark drives and pick-and-roll with Monika Czinano, and that two-player game could not be stopped. Without a one-on-one defender who could contain Clark, South Carolina ultimately needed to send help, but had already schemed not to.

CLEVELAND — Just when you thought this women’s basketball season couldn’t give any more, just when you thought it had drained itself of record on-court performances, all-time viewership numbers and compelling grudge matches, it is giving us an opportunity to witness all three in one game, pitting Iowa against South Carolina in the national championship showdown most fans and every ABC executive wanted.

It had to end this way, right? Great player versus great team. The quest for the perfect ending versus the pursuit of the perfect season. An opportunity for South Carolina to avenge its only loss of the last two seasons. A way to cap a memorable season with a potentially unforgettable finale.

If the Iowa-LSU regional final drew an average of 12.3 million viewers on a Monday night on cable, it boggles the mind to think what the Iowa-South Carolina rematch of last year’s national semifinal could do Sunday on network television. You have Caitlin Clark, Iowa’s transcendent star and expected No. 1 pick of the upcoming WNBA Draft, seeking to go out on top after losing in last season’s title game. And you have South Carolina, with virtually an all-new lineup, seeking to finish what it could not a year ago.

"Coach told us that was a six-point quarter for them. We were just like shocked because it didn't feel like that. It felt like we were just out there being locked in on offense and defense. And we just played the game we know how to play. At some points we don't know what's going on. We just know we're having fun. And we just love being out there with each other."

A fun moment on ESPN postgame, as Aliyah Boston — whose South Carolina career ended in the Final Four last season — interviews her former coach, Dawn Staley, after the Gamecocks advanced past NC State.

“You play to your strengths, Kamilla (Cardoso) is a strength of ours,” Dawn Staley said. “She played with a desire to win. She asked for the ball a couple times as well.”

South Carolina routs NC State

South Carolina is going back to the national championship.

The top-ranked and undefeated Gamecocks defeated third-seeded NC State 78-59 in the first Final Four game Friday night. The win sends South Carolina back to the national championship for the second time in three years, after winning it all in 2022.

The Gamecocks were led by star post player Kamilla Cardoso, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds despite missing the last 1:39 of the first half with an apparent leg injury.

South Carolina led by five before Cardoso went down, but that lead was cut to just one point at halftime. Cardoso returned after halftime and South Carolina took control of the game right away, jumping out to a 10-1 run in the third quarter. South Carolina outscored NC State 29-6 in the third quarter to break the game open.

South Carolina routs NC State to advance to second national championship in last 3 seasons

South Carolina's Ashlyn Watkins is just the fifth player to record 20 rebounds in a women's Final Four game, joining Mississippi State's Teaira McCowan (25, 2018), North Carolina's Charlotte Smith (23, 1994), Old Dominion's Tracy Claxton (20, 1985) and LSU's Sylvia Fowles (20, 2008).

It looks like ESPN is going to let Aliyah Boston do the postgame interview with Dawn Staley. Holly Rowe handed her the mic.

Ashlyn Watkins: 19 rebounds. NC State: 22.

Kamilla Cardoso shouldn't touch the floor the rest of this game... Up 23 with 8 minutes to play, there's no reason to risk aggravating whatever injury sent her off the floor in the first half. This is a good chance to get Sania Feagin some extra minutes.

Heading into tonight, South Carolina's third-quarter margin over teams was an average of 7.1 points. The Gamecocks more than tripled that just now.

Gamecocks lead 61-37 after 3

South Carolina outscored NC State 29-6 in that third quarter. Tells you everything you need to know.

NC State could have had a more disastrous quarter. The Wolfpack are 1-of-10 from the field and have missed all four 3-point attempts. They also have four turnovers.

Wes Moore said in his pregame news conferences that he thought this was Dawn Staley's best South Carolina team. Considering Staley has two national titles, it just goes to show you just how dominant this group has been all year. He also had a funny line this week about interviewing for the South Carolina job when Staley got it. "Can you believe they made that decision and went that direction?" he joked. "But it's worked out pretty good." South Carolina is up 18 late in the third.

Trying to decide what the point of no return will be for the Wolfpack. Was it when Aziaha James drove into a wall at the rim for the third straight possession? Or when MiLaysia Fulwiley broke out a coast-to-coast transition bucket. Whenever the moment, I do believe NC State is cooked. The loosest team in the Tournament is getting a bit snippety with one another as this lead balloons.

South Carolina leads 55-36 — its largest of the night — as NC State has gone more than four minutes without scoring and has more turnovers (11) than assists (3). The Gamecocks are racing away with an 11-0 run and a lopsided 23-5 third quarter as NC State has missed its last seven shots.

There are 2 hybrids in the Tour Edge Lady Edge set: a 6 and 7 hybrid. The #6 is set to 31-degrees while the #7 is set to 35-degrees of loft. These will get you up and out of any lie.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.
