Harley Davidson Museum Exploration

Join us on an exploration of one of Milwaukee’s most iconic institutions- Harley Davidson Motor Co.  On board your motorcoach your guide will set the stage of Harley’s founding by narrating the highlights of the city as they would appear through the lens of the Davidson brothers in 1903. After a glimpse of the city, you will arrive at the Harley Davidson Museum where your expert docent will showcase the museum’s highlights journeying from garage start-up to iconic global brand. Day 2 Muskegon / Holland, MI

From historic ships and lighthouses to the restored mansions built by Muskegon’s most famous lumber barons, delight in the history and scenery of this quaint Michigan town. Referred to as “The Riviera of the Midwest,” Muskegon has grown from a fur trading and lumbering town to a vibrant tourist destination. Explore the delightful town of Holland where hundreds of Dutch immigrants live and immerse yourself in its genuine Dutch culture. 

Sand Dunes & Wine Experience

Experience the Silver Lake Sand Dunes like never before on a one-of-a-kind exploration on an open air dune scooter. Stop at the Lake Michigan shoreline for a quick visit and then drive to one of the tallest dunes on the Silver Lake for pictures and to enjoy the view. Step back in time to the Victorian Era! Explore the Queen Anne style Victorian mansions of two of Muskegon's most prominent lumber barons, Charles Hackley and Thomas Hume. Enjoy a ride through the Painted Ladies neighborhood as you discover of Muskegon's historic downtown. Stop at the Muskegon Heritage Museum where you will learn about the economic, industrial, and social history of the region. View products made in Muskegon including the original Raggedy Ann dolls, a functioning Brunswick Bowling Lane pin setter, and more!  Next, visit the LST 393 Veterans Museum and step aboard the LST, one of two LSTs remaining out of 1051 built during WWII. Explore the historic warship and view thousands of artifacts that serve as a museum and memorial.

 Join us to see the Best of Holland. Located on the shores of two lakes - Michigan and Macatawa, Dutch traditions are a large part of the city's identity. Guided by a local Hollander in traditional Dutch attire, visit Windmill Island Gardens, home to De Zwaan, the only authentic Dutch working windmill in the USA, with its abundant botanical beauty in bloom. Stop for lunch at one of West Michigan's best blueberry farms, Bowerman Blueberries' Farms, for a historical agricultural experience and blueberry inspired meal. Explore Holland’s award-winning historic downtown with over 100 independently owned boutiques and eateries for time explore and discover. You will be sure to love Holland’s small-town charm and big city amenities.                                                    

Historic Maritime Experience

A local guide will accompany you and share the fascinating history and stories of the ships that have plied Muskegon’s waters. Visit the USS Silversides Submarine, a Gato class WWII Submarine, and explore the accompanying Submarine Museum. The USS Silversides was commissioned shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor and went on to complete 14 war patrols in the Pacific during WWII. Silversides was one of the most successful submarines in the Pacific Theater of World War II, with 23 confirmed sinkings. She received a Presidential Unit Citation for cumulative action over four patrols and twelve battle stars. The accompanying two-story museum shares the experiences of local heroes who served in World War II.   Next visit the SS Milwaukee Clippe r, listed on the National Register of Historic Sites and designated a National Historic Landmark. Known as the “Queen of the Great Lakes,” the SS Milwaukee Clipper was a 361 foot passenger and package freight steamer that was commissioned in 1904 for service on the Great Lakes. Built seven years prior to the RMS Titanic , the ship was recognized as the epitome of first class travel on the Great Lakes. After many years of service, the ship’s original wooden superstructure was replaced with an all steel, streamlined superstructure. Explore this now legendary steamer that serves as a time capsule to 1940’s modern elegance.

Meijer Botanical Gardens & Sculpture Park

Explore the #1 sculpture park in the country, the #2 botanical garden in the country, and one of the top 45 most-visited museums worldwide. Admire masterpieces of art and nature with both indoor and outdoor gardens and a world-renowned sculpture park.  

A guided tram tour will take you around the 158 acre campus where you can view stunning horticultural displays showcasing a beautiful array of plants appropriate for the Midwest and specialized plants from around the world. Gardens include Michigan’s largest tropical conservatory, an 8-acre Japanese garden, an English perennial garden, a 1930’s-era Michigan farm garden, an arid garden, carnivorous plant house, and more.

The sculpture collection features more than 200 works by internationally acclaimed artists. The greatest concentration of work is featured in a 30-acre Sculpture Park, which plays host to colossal and more traditional-scale works situated in a natural environment. Of special interest is the colossal sculpture The American Horse, by Nina Akamu, which was inspired in part by a work created by Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci and is one of only two casts, with the other being in Milan, Italy!

Day 3 Mackinac Island, MI

Mackinac Island is a living Victorian town where personal motorized vehicles are prohibited – all those visiting or living on the island travel by horse or horse-drawn carriage, bicycle, or on foot. While Mackinac Island is known for its opulent Victorian homes and hotels, it has a long Native American history. Anishinabe-Ojibwe tradition holds that the island was a sacred place populated by the first people and was home to the Great Spirit Gitchie Manitou.    

Mackinac Island Carriage Ride

Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through Michigan's most historic location. Narrated by your driver, make your way down Lilac Lane and explore the island's incredible beauty and history. Enjoy views of the famous Grand Hotel and Victorian summer cottages, and learn how islanders rely upon horses, carriages, and bicycles for daily living. Stop at the Surrey Hills Carriage Museum, which displays historic carriages, including a horse-drawn hearse still used today, and an antique fire department pumper. As we travel through the State Park, enjoy magnificent views or Arch Rock, one of the natural wonders of the Midwest, and the island’s most famous geological formation. Continue on to Fort Mackinac, the oldest building in Michigan. Explore the many historical structures that boast exhibits highlighting everything from military training and battles to medical treatments and family life within the fort. Next, travel to The Grand Hotel, founded in1887. Discover the rich history and tastefully preserved architecture of this National Historic Landmark, while enjoying the hotel’s shops and museums. Sit in a rocking chair on the world’s longest porch overlooking the Straits of Mackinac.  

Day 4 Sault Sainte Marie, ON

Located at the mouth of Saint Mary’s River, Sault Saint Marie was originally established by Jesuit missionaries in the 17th century. Saint Mary’s River connects Lake Superior to Lake Huron and has provided trade access between the United States and Canada for hundreds of years. The blend of the native Ojibwa with the French and English settlers resulted in the rich and diverse culture of this incredible destination.

Discovering Whitefish Island: An Indigenous Lead Interpretive Walking

Join us on an Interpretive Indigenous guided exploration of Whitefish Island, located in the heart of Baawaating (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario). Led by knowledgeable and experienced indigenous guides, enjoy a journey through the island's rich history and learn the significance to the local communities. Learn about the traditional uses of the island, the native flora and fauna, and the importance of preserving its cultural and ecological heritage. Listen to traditional hand drum songs and taste fresh bannock and cedar tea with locally harvested maple syrup.

Heritage Shuttle

Explore Sault Sainte Marie at your own pace using the local shuttle. Visit key attractions for photo opportunities and self-exploration. Stops include:

• Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site - Visitors will be greeted at the Heritage Discover Centre, where they will be watch a short introductory movie which provides an overview of the site and its significance to the area. After, a heritage guide will entertain you with "stories steeped in stone." As you explore the 2 oldest stone buildings Northwest Ontario, as well as the heritage gardens and the grounds surrounding them, listen to the tales of early Canadian settlers. Take time to peruse the gift shop, where you will find souvenirs, including local artisan works.  
• Bushplane Museum - The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is a hands on museum with 29 vintage bush planes, 4 of which you can climb aboard. Enjoy the award-winning 22 minute movie, Wildfires, as well as a flight simulator in the famous Beaver plane that will take you on 3 short flights. Explore the onsite Entomica Insectarium to see some interesting insects which, like planes, have wings.

Paddle and Learn: Interpretive Indigenous Guided Kayak Tour

Embark on an awe-inspiring half-day kayaking through the picturesque waters of Baawaating (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario). Navigate the serene St. Mary's River towards the scenic Bellevue Park, marveling at the captivating landscapes that unfold before you. Our seasoned guides, well-versed in indigenous culture, will accompany you on this enriching expedition, imparting their wisdom about the local ecosystem, traditions, and history. As you traverse the waterways, keep an eye out for magnificent wildlife such as bald eagles and blue herons while learning about the area's significance to Indigenous communities.

Art & History of Sault Ste. Marie

Visit the Art Gallery of Algoma to admire the works of local artists at this hub for visual arts. View permanent collections of indigenous artists, as well as rotating exhibits which feature The Group of Seven, prominent Canadian landscape painters. Stroll through the impressive sculpture garden with works that have a deep connection to the Algoma region. Visit the gift shop where you can purchased items created by local artisans. At the Canal National Historic Site, learn about the construction of the canal and the significance of the St. Marys River Rapids to the Anishinaabe and Métis Peoples. Enjoy the wonder of quiet woods and wetlands by foot on the site’s many trails. As you make your way to the St. Marys River Rapids, take in the spectacular views and discover the history of the Anishinaabe people.   

Private Fishing Charter

In the company of a small group of fellow Pearl Seas Cruises guests, enjoy a half day of fishing aboard an 18-foot charter boat, a converted Hobo houseboat. Admire the scenic splendor of the world famous St. Mary’s River as you enjoy the thrill of the catch. During spring and early summer, we will fish for Atlantic Salmon and in the late summer and fall, Pacific Salmon (King, Pink, Coho). Afternoon Tea at the Superintendent's Residence

Step back in time and join us for afternoon tea and dessert at the historic and elegant Superintendent’s Residence, designed in the beautiful Gothic Revival style with a steep, peaked roof, an asymmetrical floor plan and decorative detailed wooden trim. Day 5 Little Current, ON

Located along the north shore of Manitoulin Island, Little Current is considered the gateway to the World’s Largest Freshwater Island. Home to the native Ojibwe, this charming town is known for its swing bridge, a one-lane bridge and the only vehicular access to Manitoulin Island except for a daily passenger-vehicle ferry that runs from late spring to October.

Art Experience: Minwaamdang (A Good Vision/Dream)

Learn the history of Odawa Mnis (Manitoulin Island) and Wiikwemkoong, as you make your way to Canada’s only officially recognized unceded territory. Your dedicated expert guide will share the story of the 1836 and so-called 1862 Treaty of Manitoulin Island, intrigue you with the local lore and legend of Zhibzhii - the underwater spirit, and touch upon Anishnaabek participation in domestic and foreign conflicts honoring our Ogitchidaa (Warriors/Veterans). Next meet and greet with world renowned Anishnaabek artist James Simon Mishibinijima. Enjoy a private viewing of his gallery, followed by an introduction by James who speaks about his career, his inspirations, and his artwork, most often with the theme of islands and water.

Day 6 Parry Sound, ON

Located on the eastern shore of Georgian Bay in Lake Huron, Parry Sound is a picturesque port town with charming cottages and spectacular views. As you cruise the Georgian Bay, enjoy its serene beauty from the ships’ sun deck where you can admire views of Flowerpot Rocks, windswept pines, rugged coast, and clear blue waters.

Led by experienced and friendly guides, paddle along the calm and serene waters of Georgian Bay, taking in the picturesque scenery around you. From rugged rock formations to peaceful coves, explore the natural beauty of the area at a leisurely pace, perfect for beginners or those who have never kayaked before. Stop for breaks to take in the views and enjoy light refreshments at the end of your exploration.

​Parry Sound Waterfront Tour on Electric Bikes

A guided e-bike ride is the perfect way to stretch your legs and immerse yourself in the town of Parry Sound. A local guide will provide you with a narrated experience along the town's bicycle trails. Pass by the main downtown strip and follow the shoreline of Georgian Bay. Along the way, discover the town's history, landmarks, and industries. Further down the trail, you will learn about local plants, reptiles, migratory birds and other species at risk. Bobby Orr Hall of Fame Exploration

Learn the story of Bobby Orr’s journey from local minor hockey in Parry Sound to the NHL and his legacy in the game of hockey. On display in the Hall of Fame are Bobby Orr’s Stanley Cups Rings, the stick he used to score his 1970 Stanley Cup-winning goal, and many more artifacts and photographs documenting Bobby Orr’s career and the achievements of our Inductees. New exhibits also focus on examining the science behind sport and celebrating the indigenous people, local culture, and sport participation in our area. Discover Sailing the Biosphere

Take a spectacular journey among the 30,000 islands of Parry Sound, the world’s longest freshwater archipelago and home of the UNESCO Georgian Bay Biosphere, aboard Blue Pearl, a 30-foot sailboat. While underway, your skipper and crew will provide a running commentary on the history, ecology, geology and culture of the area. Learn basic crew skills and participate in sailing the boat. Note: Comfortable life jackets will be provided. Guests must bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), soft soled shoes, and be physically able to safely move on the boat at the dock and while underway. Signature Excursion    

Day 7 Midland, ON

Midland is the main town and economic center of the area located at the southern end of Georgian Bay’s Thirty Thousand Islands. Learn about the history of this fascinating city with a visit to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, a living museum depicting 17th-century missionary life. Stroll along the Midland Harbor, a picturesque destination featuring a large statue of the trumpeter swan, considered the symbol of Midland. For bird lovers, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre is a habitat for Trumpeter Swans, Black Terns, and Least Bitterns.

A Tasty Walk through Midland

Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon sipping and tasting delicious, local fare while walking through beautiful downtown Midland. Savor a curated lineup of food and drink from popular local culinary spots. Learn about the area's rich heritage and culture, and discover the stories behind Midland's murals, public art, and unique shops. A local guide will meet you at the ship. Discover how the story of this shrine is an integral part of the collective history of Canadians. Learn about the Martyrs and their relations with the Indigenous peoples of the 17th century. Explore the grounds with a wide variety of beautiful outdoor spaces including forest, gardens, pathways, devotional spaces, and open lawn.

Discovery Harbor Exploration

Situated along beautiful Penetanguishene Bay, this picturesque historic site is a reconstruction of an original 19th century British naval and military base. Originally conceived during the War of 1812, the actual construction of a Naval Establishment would have to wait for peacetime. Becoming operational in early 1817, the base served as an important supply link to more northerly British outposts, and safeguarded presents destined for Britain’s indigenous allies. Using the detailed map provided, explore the many naval and military sites on the harbor, including a variety of historic naval vessels, sailor’s barracks, a square for military drills, and original officer’s quarters.

Saint-Marie among the Hurons

Explore this recreation of the 17th-century French Jesuit Mission headquarters, with a replica of the barracks, homes, and meeting places that housed the Jesuits. Learn about their history and relationships with the native Huron people.

Cruising Midland Harbor & the 30,000 Islands

With exhilarating speeds of up to 38mph, cruise Midland Harbor and the 30,000 Islands region aboard the Tobermory Flash, an all-aluminum, open-air speedboat. Our premium category L staterooms are over 300 square feet and are located on the 5th deck level of the ship, allowing for plenty of privacy. No attention to detail was spared in the design of these modern staterooms. Each comes with sliding glass doors leading to a private balcony where guests can enjoy pleasant breezes and scenic views. Some of these rooms have adjoining doors, an option for guests who are traveling in a group or who wish to have a living room.

Our generous category K staterooms are over 300 square feet and are conveniently located on the 4th deck level of the ship. These staterooms offer guests easy access to the Pacific Lounge and open passenger decks, with breathtaking views. Category H staterooms are the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. Each 275 square foot room has a large opening picture window and a private balcony offering spectacular views of the passing scenery. The room also offers a full-size bathroom with all the modern amenities of a fine hotel.

Our category G rooms are a spacious retreat with all the amenities a modern traveler expects. Each room offers 275 square feet of space encompassing a full-size bathroom, a large opening picture window, and a private balcony. This room is also conveniently located near the Atlantic Lounge and Dining Room.

Our Category SGB staterooms are designed specifically with our single travelers in mind. A comfortable getaway, these rooms are spacious with all modern amenities. At over 200 square feet, these staterooms have interior entrances, large opening windows, and private balconies offering panoramic views.

Where do Pacific Coastal cruises go?

Pacific Coastal cruises sail either between Los Angeles and Vancouver, Canada, or round trip from Los Angeles.

Ports between Los Angeles and Vancouver include Catalina Island, San Francisco, and Victoria, on Vancouver Island. A southbound itinerary visits Seattle, Astoria, and San Francisco. Both of these itineraries include days at sea to enjoy the ship.

Round-trip Los Angeles cruises visit Catalina Island, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada in Mexico.

Where do cruises depart from on the West Coast?

Cruises depart from Los Angeles on one-way northbound voyages, ending in Vancouver, or from Vancouver on southbound voyages, ending in Los Angeles. Our Pacific Coastal itineraries sail round-trip from Los Angeles.

What should I pack?

What to pack depends on your itinerary. The Pacific Northwest can be cool and damp, so for visits to Victoria, Seattle, and Astoria, a light waterproof jacket is a good idea, as are comfortable shoes. Layers are the best strategy here as the weather can transform in an instant, especially in San Francisco, which is prone to fog that can melt away into the sunshine. 

Bring a pair of binoculars as the marine life in the Northwest is spectacular and you stand a good chance of spotting whales and dolphins.

For itineraries that head further south, pack for the sunny climates of San Diego, Catalina Island, and Ensenada. Catalina and Santa Barbara are great for hiking, so again, remember your walking shoes.

Throughout the ship, casual resort wear, sundresses, shorts, polos, or button-downs are appropriate, paired with sandals, low heels, and loafers. In main and specialty dining, we ask guests to refrain from wearing swimsuits, see-through cover-ups or robes, bare feet, tank tops, T-shirts, and baseball caps. 

Smart Casual attire is required for entry to main dining, specialty dining, and the theater. Smart Casual means you look comfortable yet tasteful in a dress, skirt, long pants, or jeans with a stylish top or button-down. Shorts and flip-flops are not considered Smart Casual. 

Each itinerary features at least one to two “formal” nights that we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jeans, an elegant dress top, or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos.

The daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening. If you do not wish to participate in Evening Chic, Smart Casual attire is acceptable for dining and attending the theater.

Are there any ports of call outside of the U.S.?

Yes, all of our Pacific Northwest itineraries include ports of call outside of the U.S.. You could visit Victoria and Vancouver in Canada or Ensenada in Mexico, depending on your itinerary.

When is the best time to cruise?

The best time to explore the West Coast is spring, summer, and fall, when the weather is generally good. In spring and fall, places like Los Angeles and San Diego are pleasant, rather than hot, and you should have ideal conditions for hiking, strolling around cities, and even sunbathing.

How long are cruises along the West Coast?

Our cruises along the West Coast last for either six or seven nights.

What types of landscapes and sights can I expect to see during the cruise?

On any Pacific Coastal cruise, you’ll see a wonderful combination of vibrant cities and beautiful landscapes.

San Francisco is famous for many things: the Golden Gate Bridge, vintage cable cars, Alcatraz, museums, and Fisherman’s Wharf. In Seattle, don’t miss the colorful Pike Place Market, or a trip up the Space Needle. Pretty Victoria is known for its colonial charm and the glorious colors of Butchart Gardens, while elegant Santa Barbara is famed for its whitewashed architecture, Mission Santa Barbara, and beautiful beaches. In San Diego, you could visit the impressive zoo, or explore the city’s culinary scene.

You’ll have a chance to be immersed in nature, too. Catalina Island has wonderful hiking, eco-adventures, boat tours, and even a chance to spot the herd of bison that lives wild here. Astoria, on the edge of the forested, misty Pacific Northwest, is a great place for cycling and hiking, as well as learning about the epic expedition of Lewis and Clark. In contrast, sunny Ensenada is the place to head for the beach or inland for hiking and wine tasting.

What kind of excursions can I book?

We offer a wide range of excursions to suit every taste. You can join a hike in Catalina Island or Ensenada and go cycling in Astoria. From San Francisco, you could take a tour to Sausalito and Muir Woods, or to Sonoma Wine Country for a tasting.

In San Diego, you can embark on a food tour of Little Italy or a night-time ghost tour. In Seattle, you could head out of town to sample wine in Washington State’s vineyards, or take a Grand City Tour by Land and Sea. Essentially, you will find a shore excursion to suit your tastes, whether your interest is history and architecture, wildlife, food and wine, or nature and activity.

How many days at sea will I have? What is there to do on board?

Our Pacific Coastal itineraries have either one or two days at sea, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the ship.

You’ll find a wonderful choice of activities during these sea days. Relax by the pool or join a workout class in the Fitness Center. Listen to live music or try a wine tasting. Sample delightful dishes from all the different restaurants on board, which range from poolside made-to-order burgers and salads to delicious sushi, contemporary Italian, and clean cuisine in Blu. On Celebrity Eclipse, lie back on the soft grass of the Lawn Club or challenge friends to a game of croquet. In the evenings, you’ll find glittering entertainment in The Theatre, as well as late-night dancing.

What is there to do on the ship?

It looks like the exact same Navigator was uploaded for Day 3 and Day 6 – and since they’re both full of Halloween activities, I’m guessing it’s only supposed to be for Day 6. Any chance the “real” Day 3 navigator is still out there somewhere?

Hi Michelle, I did locate the original screen captures provided in my backup files. Unfortunately, day 3 and day 6 are 2 differently named video files. As a result, I do not have a different day 6 to share.

I googled scam pulse and read their reviews on trustpilot (which I have used before).  Personally, I think I'd take whet I read on scampulse with a grain of salt

I'll help you out.  IT'S A SCAM!  I refer you to the top Google search from Talk of the Villages January 2023 ( retirement residences in Florida) where the exact same question was posted (was that you as well?) and responses were provided from people who had called the number, friends of theirs who had called/gone to the event etc.  It is a travel club and/or timeshare.  You will get no bargains out of it.  The 'free' tickets come with many many conditions including extra fees.  I would also suggest you go to Elliott.org or Christopher Elliott's social media pages where he has many articles on travel scams and timeshare scams.

If you're still thinking about this then the adage 'a fool and his money are soon parted' comes to mind.

Throw this flyer in the trash...do not pass go, do not collect anything....

The details of the event were vague.  It indicated a local Marriott that would be hosting the event and a number to call for the event details all masked as Travel and Cruise Showcase 2023

Sounds fishy at best.

I did not as I’ve made it my life’s work to avoid these types of scams.  Please report back after you go to the show and tell us about it

Well, we decided to attend the Next Travel Destination show.  It was held in the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Punta Gorda, Florida.  16 of us were in attendance.  The Vice President of Marketing did the presentation.  It's a members only travel agency.  He claims that there are 3 million members.  The presentation lasted about an hour and then a salesperson came to each couple's table.  The cost of the Platinum Lifetime Membership started at $9,995 with annual dues of $199.  Our salesman, offered us multiple discounts with the final price being $3,500.  We didn't accept the offer, but at least two other couples did sign up.  This was truly a "no pressure to sign up" presentation.  We were in and out in less than 90 minutes with a handshake from the salesperson.

We were given a certificate for a 5 day Carnival cruise, or options for other vacation offers.

This needs to be filled out and sent to Customer Choice Rewards, in Tarpon Springs, FL, along with a self addressed stamped envelope.  

I'll keep you posted with the outcome!  I don't have high expectations for this working out, but I felt like it would be a good experiment.  Being retired, we have the time and we found out where the free bicycle rental place is in Punta Gorda!  This was a nice diversion from dealing with Hurricane Ian repairs at our home.

I received this invite in today's mail. My initial thought was that they got my name from some cruise data base, if such a data base even exists. The clincher for me was that both my last and first name were spelled incorrectly (in addition to my name or "current resident" invited)  so I know they didn't get it from some legit information that the cruise lines might sell.  Oh well, I was excited for at least a moment!

Just got another one.  They are persistent 

When I read "....you will receive (2) two complimentary round trip airline vouchers" (Yea on what airline? AND "....valid for travel from most major international airports" Yea what airports? AND (In addition you will receive (2) two nights at one of over 1,000 Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt Hotels)......I said NO! We don't need to dilly dally on the phone with with these "MORONS" we have better things to do.

You can find 7 night Nile cruises that depart from Aswan and head to Luxor, and you also find the reverse. You can also find 7 night Nile cruises that return you to your starting point (i.e. Luxor – Aswan – Luxor).

In addition to how you explore the sites during 7 night Nile cruises, remember that most of these journeys can be integrated into a wider tour or exploration of Egypt. For example, there are Lake Nasser cruises that could be an ideal way to begin your visit to Egypt. You might cruise the lake for several days and finish in Aswan. From there, you can book one of the 7 night Nile cruises departing from Aswan and heading north (down river) to Luxor.

After exploring Luxor, you can book air or train passage to Cairo and continue taking in the many sites in and around the city, and more.

2024 NCAA Women's Tournament scores, highlights, results: USC, UConn and Notre Dame cruise into Sweet 16

The field is down to just 16 teams after play wrapped up on monday night.

The waning hours of the NCAA Women's Tournament's Round of 32 saw the sport's biggest star nearly fall, while the player who seems destined to follow her path to greatness led a resounding win. 

Caitlin Clark and Iowa avoided a shocking upset in the senior's final game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Fighting through a physical West Virginia defense, the top-seeded Hawkeyes closed their second-round matchup on a 12-2 run over the final 2:03 to win 64-54, advancing them to a Sweet 16 game against No. 5 seed Colorado. 

It wasn't the most efficient Clark shooting night, but it was a historic one. A pair of free throws to ice the game late gave Clark the single-season scoring record in women's Division I (1,111 points). Overall, Clark went 8-for-22 for a game-high 32 points, adding eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Hannah Stuelke was impactful down low with 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. 

While Clark and Co. sat on the verge of defeat, USC's victory was never in doubt. The top-seeded Trojans found an early lead over No. 8 seed Kansas and rolled to a 73-55 win. JuJu Watkins is continuing to blossom into a superstar in real time, and Monday she tallied 28 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Clarice Akunwafo provided incredible energy off the bench, as she pulled down nine rebounds, three steals and six blocks. 

Earlier Monday, UConn and Notre Dame collected wins over Syracuse and Ole Miss, respectively. The Huskies avoided a late comeback push to win their second-round game, and Paige Bueckers led the way with 32 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Maddy Westbeld spearheaded the Fighting Irish's double-digit win with 20 points.

Gonzaga took advantage of home court advantage and the Zags are now advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2015. As the last team from a mid-major conference remaining, Gonzaga did not back down from the challenge of facing a tough Utah team that includes Alissa Pili, one of the top 20 scorers in the nation. Pili's college career has officially come to and end, but she can be proud of an effort that included 35 points and seven rebounds on Monday.

The Zags' offensive depth showed with four players scoring in double figures. Senior guard Kayleigh Truong led them all with 21 points. Senior forward Yvonne Ejim put up 17 points and 13 rebounds. 

JuJu Watkins is playing like a veteran

The USC freshman averaged 25.5 points and eight rebounds in her first two NCAA Tournament games. In the first-round win against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Watkins broke Cheryl Miller's USC single-season scoring record -- which the Hall of Famer set in 1986.

The last time the USC Trojans went to the Sweet 16 was 1994 with Cheryl Miller as the head coach. This is Lindsay Gottlieb's third season at the helm of the program, and she is already building something special in Los Angeles.

The Trojans are heading to their first Sweet 16 since 1994. Freshman star JuJu Watkins registered a game-high 28 points while also putting up 11 rebounds for her eight double-double of the season. Senior guard McKenzie Forbes was also a top contributor with 20 points. 

The Jayhawks put up a good fight in the second and third quarters, but their efforts fell short against a tough USC program. It is the 15th time this season the Trojans allow fewer than 60 points. Senior center Taiyanna Jackson put up 10 points and an impressive 18 rebounds. Freshman S'Mya Nichols showed the future is bright for Kansas with 22 points. 

Up next, USC will travel to Portland to take on the Baylor Bears.

USC started the fourth quarter outscoring the Jaykahwis 9-2, and now the Trojans hold a 62-48 advantage with under six minutes remaining. Freshman JuJu Watkins is leading USC with 21 points and needs just two more rebounds for a double-double.

The Zags are the only team from a non-power six conference still playing in the NCAA Tournament, and so far they are representing mid-majors in an excellent way. As a team, they are shooting 57.7% from the field while spreading their offense. Six players are registering at least two points, with Kayle Truong leading the way with 12 points going 4-for-6 from the field. Utah is hanging around while star forward Alissa Pili leads its offense with 15 points going 5-for-6, including two 3-pointers.

Here's what you should know about the Key Bridge collapse

Officials recovered the bodies of two construction workers who were on Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge when it collapsed early Tuesday morning after a 984-foot-long cargo ship collided into a pillar.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore called the collapse Wednesday " a global crisis ."

"The national economy and the world's economy depends on the Port of Baltimore. The port handles more cars and more farm equipment than any other port in the country," Moore said.

Here's what you should know:

• The victims: The six people who are presumed dead were from Mexico Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, according to Col. Roland L. Butler Jr, the superintendent of Maryland State Police. Two bodies were recovered and have been identified as Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes from Mexico and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera from Guatemala. The two workers were filling potholes on the bridge and were later found trapped in a red pickup truck in about 25 feet of water, Butler said. The FBI is handling notifying the victims' families, Butler said.
• Recovery efforts: Authorities are pausing search efforts for the four other workers who are presumed dead, because additional vehicles are encased in concrete and other debris, making it unsafe for divers, Butler said. Once salvage operations clear the debris, divers will search for more remains, he said.
• The investigation: The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the fatal incident, according to the agency's chair Jennifer Homendy. During a Wednesday news conference, Homendy said there were 21 crew members and two pilots on board the Dali cargo ship when it crashed into the bridge. She also said a senior NTSB hazmat investigator identified 56 containers of hazardous material, and that some containers are in the water. The agency received six hours of voyage data from the ship and the investigation could take 12 to 24 months to complete, Homendy said. She emphasized that NTSB will not analyze information collected or provide conclusions while on scene of the collapse.
• Looking forward: Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said rebuilding the bridge will not be "quick or easy" but that it will get done. He said there are four main focus points ahead: reopening the port, dealing with supply chain issues until its reopening, rebuilding the bridge and dealing with traffic issues until the bridge is rebuilt. Biden  pledged the full support  of the federal government in the response and recovery efforts. His administration has already conveyed a sense of urgency to open up federal funding to remove debris and ultimately rebuild the bridge. Maryland has submitted a request to the Biden administration for emergency relief funds "to assist in our work going forward," Moore said Wednesday.

It's almost impossible to place people on the bow of ship due to the unstable structure, fire official says

Baltimore City Fire Chief James Wallace said Wednesday that the cargo ship's bridge structure and containers at the bow remain unstable.

"It's going to be very difficult, if not impossible, and very dangerous, to place people on the bow of that boat right now," Wallace told CNN's Kaitlan Collins.

"Naturally, we're still very cognizant of the fact that there are hazardous materials on board the vessel itself," Wallace said, alluding to the National Transportation Safety Board saying earlier that 56 containers were carrying hazardous materials.

Wallace said his team is relying heavily on aerial recognizance, including drones. "That's the only way we're able to see in," he said.  

He added that the aerial surveillance has "been able to really assure us right now we have no [chemical] reactions on board." 

"It's just utter devastation," NTSB chief says of the bridge collapse site

Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, called the site of the Key Bridge collapse "devastating."

"It's pretty devastating, certainly, seeing not just what's going on with the cargo containers, but just looking at what was a bridge span — three bridge spans that is pretty much gone. It's just utter devastation," she said at Wednesday evening's news briefing.

She added that she is thinking of families who lost loved ones and those who are waiting to reunite with their lived ones.

NTSB interviewed the Dali's captain and some other crew members today, agency chief says

The National Transportation Safety Board has interviewed the ship's captain, his mate, the chief engineer and one other engineer today, according to Chair Jennifer Homendy.

The two pilots on board the Dali at the time of collision will be interviewed tomorrow, she added.

Cargo ship's voyage data recorder is basic when compared to an airplane's, NTSB chair says

The voyage data recorder on the cargo ship Dali was a "newer model" but is considered basic when compared to that on an airplane, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

"But it is very basic compared to say, a flight data recorder, where we would have 1,000 parameters," she said at a news conference on Wednesday.

The NTSB chief investigator Marcel Muise added:

"It's not a ship-wide system recorder, so most of the sensors that are being recorded are from the bridge. So things like GPS, the audio, rudder feedback, rudder commands are recorded on there. But not engineering, the temperature of each cylinder, power distribution sensors."

There were no tug boats with Dali at the time of the collision. That's normal, NTSB chief says

There were no tugs with Dali when the cargo vessel collided with Baltimore's Key Bridge, which is normal protocol, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

Remember: At 01:26:39 on Tuesday, Dali's pilot made a general very high frequency (VHF) radio call for tugs in the vicinity to assist, the NTSB investigator Marcel Muise had said.

"The tugs help the vessel leave the dock, leave the port and get into the main ship channel. And then they leave. Once it's on its way, it's a straight shot through the channel. So there are no tugs with the vessel at the time. So they were calling for tugs," she said.

NTSB chair says she saw some containers that were carrying hazardous materials in the water

National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy said she did see some of the 56 containers that were carrying hazardous materials in the water.

When asked how many

When asked how many containers of hazardous materials were in the water, Homendy said:

"I did see some containers in the water, and some breached significantly on the vessel itself," she said. "I don't have an exact number, but it's something that we can provide in an update."

Homendy said that a preliminary report should be out in two to four weeks.

Bridge did not have any redundancy, unlike the preferred method for building bridges today, NTSB chair says

Baltimore's Key Bridge did not have any redundancy, which is included in the preferred method of building bridges in the present day, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy.

"The bridge is a fracture critical," she explained. "What that means is if a member fails that would likely cause a portion of, or the entire bridge, to collapse, there's no redundancy. The preferred method for building bridges today is that there is redundancy built in, whether that's transmitting loads to another member or some sort of structural redundancy. This bridge did not have redundancy," Homendy said.

There are 17,468 fracture critical bridges in the United States out of 615,000 bridges total, she said, citing the Federal Highway Administration.
