Earlier this year, Anfield was revealed as the second-most photographed attraction in the country behind London's Big Ben.

In research conducted by travel site Expedia in 2017, it was discovered that the number of Instagram posts featuring Anfield stood at nearly half a million.

Another study in 2015 found that over 100,000 fans travel to the city to watch their adopted team every season - that works out to around 4,000 unique visitors per game.

That number is likely to have increased in the time since too. The redevelopment of the Main Stand helped increase the capacity by around 9,000 with many of the seats in it's lower tier set aside for Liverpool's 'Official Match Breaks Supplier', Thomas Cook.

While many fans dream about the prospect of experiencing Anfield on a matchday, getting hold of tickets can be something of a closed shop.

Aware of the demand that there is for tickets, however, the club's new and updated stadium tour does it's best to recreate the sights and sounds of Anfield in full flow.

Money saving website Groupon are currently running a 39% off deal that expires on January 31 2019 - this means that one ticket to the tour will cost £15.50 rather than £25.50.

Important information for fans attending home matches

.css-xtinp9{display:inline-block;margin-right:0.5rem;color:#0c0c0c;font-family:Roboto Condensed,system-ui,-apple-system,BlinkMacSystemFont,"Segoe UI","Helvetica Neue",sans-serif;font-size:20px;font-weight:700;text-transform:uppercase;line-height:1.2;}@media screen and (min-width: 992px){.css-xtinp9{font-size:36px;margin-right:1rem;}} Anfield Important information for fans attending home matches

Here is the key information supporters will need to know when attending matches at Anfield.

Do I need a COVID Pass or COVID certification for entry?

Yes, following the UK government's latest announcement on a move to Plan B , COVID certification will be needed for entry to Anfield on matchdays in line with all clubs across the league.

If you have a ticket for the Premier League match against Brentford on January 16, you must complete the COVID check form, even if you completed it for a previous fixture. The link to the COVID check form is in the email we sent you about the stadium access requirements. If you haven’t received the email, please check your spam/junk folder and search ‘Plan B access requirements’.

If you can no longer attend the game and are forwarding your ticket to someone else, please also forward the email to them as it contains important information and they must also fill in the form.

There have been spot checks in operation at home games to prepare fans for this change.

All home and away supporters attending the game need to present a valid, in-date one of the following for entry:

  • NHS COVID Pass – record of double vaccination (and booster if you have had it). Please ensure this updated when required and is valid
  • Confirmation of a negative PCR or NHS lateral flow test OR COVID recovery certificate
  • EU digital COVID certificate
  • COVID pass letter for those who are double vaccinated
  • Negative COVID test email or text message

Children under the age of 18 are exempt from checks and will not be asked to participate.

Fans must bring their COVID documentation to the match as they may be subject to a COVID spot check by the club's stewarding team. You risk being denied entry to the match if you are unable to show the legally required evidence if asked.

If you have purchased a ticket for a game at Anfield and you have received an email from the club asking you to complete a health declaration form, you must submit the form at least four hours before kick-off. This is in line with Premier League requirements.

How do I get an NHS COVID Pass?

You can get your NHS COVID Pass digitally through the NHS App or via the online NHS COVID Pass service. If you do not have a smartphone, you can download your digital NHS COVID Pass and print it to bring with you.

For more information, head to https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/get-digital-covid-pass/

I'm exempt from the vaccine, can I still attend matches?

For any fans exempt from providing COVID vaccination and testing, please follow the below links for the latest government guidance as you may still be asked to provide an NHS COVID Pass or exemption certificate:

  • For fans in England go here
  • For fans in Wales go here
  • For fans in Scotland go here
  • For fans in Northern Ireland go here

Do I have to wear a face covering?

Face coverings are now mandatory when indoors at Anfield but not when seated inside the bowl. You should also wear a mask when moving around the stadium.

What other COVID measures are in place?

Please wash or sanitise hands regularly and maintain distance from fellow supporters where possible. Additional sanitiser is available around the stadium.

Also, any fans with symptoms should follow the latest government guidelines on isolating and testing and should not attend the match.

We also highly recommend fans to take a test at home before the match.

How do I use the NFC passes?

For anyone who has not yet attended a match at Anfield this season, please note stadium entry is now digital using an NFC ticket. This means that all supporters in attendance at a fixture held at Anfield will use NFC tickets unless they have requested a photo ID card to access the stadium. There will be no Print@Home or paper tickets.

Supporters are reminded to download their digital ticket on to their NFC pass to their smartphone before arriving at Anfield.

A video with full guidance can be viewed below.

The ticket office will be open on matchdays for enquiries. There will also be a number of NFC help desks around the stadium ahead of kick-off to give quick and easy support with any NFC pass issues.

Those supporters using an Android device to access the stadium also have the option of scanning the QR code that will be displayed on their NFC pass by holding their phone screen in front of the scanner at their turnstile. This may be a more efficient way use the NFC pass for those fans who have missed the step of actively switching on NFC on their device. Please see our guide for more information on enabling NFC specifically on an Android device. For Apple device users, NFC should automatically be enabled.

Can I bring a bag to the stadium?

No bags are permitted in the stadium and there are no bag storage facilities available. The only exceptions are:

  • Small A5 or smaller bags carrying hygiene products
  • Small A5 or smaller bags carrying medicines
  • Club shop bags carrying purchases from the LFC retail store

Those bags permitted will be subjected to a bag search on entry point.

Please report anything suspicious whilst in and around Anfield to your nearest steward or police officer.

What time should supporters arrive?

Supporters are encouraged to arrive at least 90 minutes before kick-off to avoid queues and allow for checks and search procedures. Queues may be likely the closer to kick-off you arrive. Turnstiles for general admission will open two hours prior to kick-off and three hours before for hospitality ticket holders.

What’s the best way to get to Anfield?

Please plan your journey to and from the stadium in advance to avoid delays and view the updated travel map and route planner here .

Fans are also reminded that Anfield is home to many people, so we ask that you respect residents by leaving quietly and taking any litter home with you. There is also a residents parking scheme in operation. Please do not park on residential streets as parking enforcement will be in operation during matchdays. Any illegally parked cars will incur a fine.

How do I access the Anfield Road Stand?

For any home and away fans with tickets in the Anfield Road Stand, please note that Anfield Road is no longer a through road. Please check your ticket and your route for access point. This may change from match to match.

For the Premier League fixture against Brentford on January 16:

  • Home fans entering in turnstiles L and M must approach Anfield Road from the direction of Arkles Lane as there is no access from the direction of 97 Avenue. At the end of the game when leaving the stadium, please turn right.
  • Home fans entering in turnstile Q must approach Anfield Road from the direction of 97 Avenue as there is no access from the direction of Arkles Lane. At the end of the game when leaving the stadium, please turn left.
  • Away fans entering in turnstiles N, O and P must approach the stadium via Dahlia Walk onto 97 Avenue (Blue Route) as there is no access from the direction of Arkles Lane. At the end of the game when leaving the stadium, please turn left.

Will there be food and drink on offer?

Yes, there will be food and drink on offer. To welcome fans back to Anfield, the price of a pint inside the stadium has been temporarily reduced to £2.90.

Food and drink will be served in the stadium. However, there will be no food containers outside.

We really appreciate your support and co-operation with these new matchday changes. We can’t do this without you, and we are thrilled to have you back!
