Great views over the Knysna Lagoon (Estuary) to The Heads and beyond and a grand place to watch people coming and going from/to the various boats. Quite a short menu but something for most diners, the food was served piping hot, well cooked/presented and service... and staff were excellent. Highly recommended. More

We ordered pork belly, which was and always is delicious, with sweet potato mash. However, when the food came we received normal mash potato. There was no apology or explanation given and at the time we were just happy to eat the delicious pork belly.... We left with a bitter sweet feeling of being happy and dissapointed. More

Visited yesterday for the very first time on Thursday 19th after driving past many times. I had the seafood pasta, my wife had the lazy aged fillet, ordered rare. The food arrived well presented, my pasta was so generous, that it was enough for two... people, Michelles fillet steak, was one of the best that we have tasted. It was a cold day for lunch, however a welcoming fire was blazing away kept us warm. Crystal the waitress received an unusual 15% tip(normally give 10%) as her attitude & service was excellent!! Lee the chef came to our table and we chatted as old friends, down to earth and friendly. Nice surprise after driving past since end of January 22 when we arrived in Knysna. More

Only received our drinks 25min-30min after seating. Waitress constantly stand around chatting to each other letting customers wait and wait. 55 min after arriving our food was served (and we ordered within first 10 minutes) Creamy Mussel main was ice cold. Burger bun ice cold.... Really far below average in food and service. Restaurant was 60% full. We were a table of 5. Much better spots to go… give this one a definite miss!! More

Prawns tempura @ R250 , forget about the price , soggy , tasteless I’ve had worse batter in Messina . They have no clue how to make crispy tempura batter . The worst meal I’ve eaten in Knysna since 2005 Noodles smothered with cheap sweet... chili sauce . Avoid More

The food was truly awful....tempura shrimp that were covered in what looked like and tasted like library paste. Even the simple rocket salad was unappetising. The hake and shrimp dumplings were like glue balls swimming in a sweet fish goulash. Truly terrible. It is hard... to ruin fried calamari, but they were also tasteless and unappealing. More

Right on the quay looking out to the ‘Heads’. Food is very good with service to match. Wines of good quality, all at sensible local prices (particularly so if you are from the UK!) Ample parking. Book for around 7.30pm /8.

My husband and I happened upon this God send of a restaurant, quite by accident, on our three night stay in Knysna, and boy were we glad we did! Both of us are avid foodies and deplore spending money on mediocre food, but driving into... Knysna, late in the evening on an idle Tuesday while it was bucketing it down with rain and I had a terrible cold, we didn't have the luxury of time or were in the mood to go scouting for the perfect restaurant. We came across it purely by chance and decided to give it a go. They were not initially very busy and when we walked in but we were met with an exceptionally warm greeting. The waiter could see I was feeling a little unwell and very cold and immediately placed us next to the fireplace so I could warm up quickly. Drinks and God bless, warm bread, were served right away for us to peck on while we decided what we wanted to eat for dinner. There's nothing more simple to do than serve warm, rather than cold, bread with butter than is soft enough so you can actually spread it and yet it makes all the difference. For starters we ordered half a dozen oysters and garlic fried prawn on sweet potato. I had been craving good Cape mussels for a while and was super excited to see them on the menu and ordered them for my main course. My husband ordered the ostrich steak. Everything we had was exceptionally good. The oysters were lovely. Clearly very fresh and well chucked. It was quite romantic next to the real fireplace in the middle of a SA winter on the garden route. The service and ambiance was excellent. Fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly with excellent flavour combinations and a good wine recommendation with attentive service meant that we made this our restaurant of choice for the whole three days we stayed in Knysna. We figured......the food is so good, why take the risk on something else? ;-) More

We had dinner here with Knysna friends and loved it. Room for kids to play. It is situated at a jetty, so keep an eye on the toddlers who can't yet swim!

Situated right on the Knysna lagoon the location has an excellent view yet quiet setting away from the mainstream tourist area, which means most visitors are either local or by referrals. Half our party of 4 had the Ribeye Steak served with roasted veg and... salad. Chef was very accommodating to our request for less rich rich sauce than the green peppercorn and offered us 4 alternatives. It was positively one of the best steaks we've had. The others in our party each had the Chicken Rissoto which was superbly presented although the chicken was a bit dry. Accompanying wine was well priced too. All round a lovely evening and the bill was reasonable. More

I have reviewed this restaurant a few times after eating there, always enjoying the visits. All that changed when I took my wife for lunch yesterday, as we did not want a large lunch I ordered fish and chips and my wife ordered a home... made burger with onion rings. When the food arrived my fish was grey and mushy obviously it had come out of the freezer not fresh my chips were cold and as hard as sticks my wifes burger was tasteless certainly not " home made " her chips were the same as mine and her onion rings arrived some 15 minutes later. We will never eat there again and I will certainly not recommend the Cruise Cafe to any one. More

Had drinks on the terrace several times and a couple of evening meals. Good service and reasonable value for money. My fish and one evening a steak were delicious. However my husband was disappointed with his malay curry-too bland but this could just be a... comment on malay curries from a lover of hotter Indian ones! Very friendly helpful staff. More

Excellent for eating a relaxed meal. A good choice of food from sea platters to burgers (both excellent). On a jetty over looking the lagoon, so eat inside or out.

We have visited the restaurant several times before but not since it had changed hands. We went for dinner with friends.We had a very enjoyable meal with quick attentive and friendly staff. On the waterfront at Knysna, Cruise Cafe offers a great view over the lagoon and lovely range of good food. It's also the home of an historic paddle steamer. Great place to watch the sun setting.

Cruise cafe is becoming a favourite. With a wonderful view of the Knysna Lagoon and a great atmosphere , the quality of the food just tops it off! It is definitely a place to go to for an enjoyable evening!!!

A lovely setting for breakfast, lunch or dinner with a varied menu and comfortable chairs with great views across the lagoon and good service. Avoid in peak season for dinner when tour groups arrive in buses.

Food was okay, but not spectacular. The place was pretty empty (which may not have been too surprising since we were in the off season). We had a sense that it was really focused on the tourist trade.

My parents, teenaged son and I have Sunday lunch before taking the Featherbed ferry. Siwe was a superb server, the oysters were fresh and delicious, the calamari tender and perfect and the Creme brûlée decadent. A perfect meal.

After three terrible experiences in one week in Knysna restaurants I nearly didn't give Cruise Cafe a chance. Glad I did though...excellent service and food and love the new chef, I think her name is Magdalena? Also, what an interesting menu that caters to all.... More

We decided on an early lunch and sat down outside. We had a lovely view, and a delicious meal. The best calamari I have tasted this holiday. Service was good and great value for money. Will definitely recommend.

My wife and I plus four friends dined here and enjoyed the food and the service which was very good and very friendly indeed.

Enjoyed a very relaxing lunch on the deck outside with a view over the harbour and mountain in the back. We had fresh Hake which was excellent. Very friendly staff and they will see us again.

Great location with beautiful views and the friendly staff is a added bonus. Our breakfast was delicious and the coffee superb. Cruise Cafe is absolutely worth a visit when in Knysna.

We were there out of season so it was not busy. The food was very good and the service excellant. The menu is adequate with good selections. Plenty of parking is available. Seating available inside or outside.

We were so disappointed with our food here. It has gone down terribly, food used to be amazing but this is unfortunately not the case anymore. The prices are also high.

Good service and excellent pork belly. The best by far. The only negative would be that the portion of the blue cheese and fig springrolls are very small compared to the other starters.

Generally this restaurant serves a really good meal. Location next to the water is lovely. Check that if you are having a burger that the bread rolls are fresh.

A short drive off the N2 the restaurant is located on the Knysna Lagoon with adequate parking. The food, wine list and service were excellent and the entire ambiance great. Highly recommended.
