Cruise Vancouver Island's Historic West Coast!
Cruise aboard the MV Uchuck III and marvel at the stunning scenery as you cruise along the remote northwest coast of Vancouver Island, BC. This 136-foot wooden hulled maritime vessel provides passenger and freight service through historic Nootka Sound, Esperanza Inlet, and Kyuquot Sound.
Authentic West Coast Cruising
Stops are made along the routes to offload freight at remote fish farms, logging camps, resorts and maritime villages that rely on the MV Uchuck III as a lifeline. Many of these remote destinations have no road access. Stops are also made at remote destinations to offload intrepid kayakers. Passengers enjoy watching the day-to-day activities, from maneuvering the vessel to remote docks and offloading freight from the cargo hold to watching intrepid kayakers paddle off after wet launching.
A Wilderness of Wildlife
The west coast of Vancouver Island is home to an abundance Killer Whales, Gray Whales, Black Bear, Sea Otters, Seals and Sea Lions, Pacific Dolphin and Bald Eagles so be sure to bring your binoculars and your camera!

Passengers also submit stories and photos which make it into the Nootka Sounder as well.
We'd like to thank the photographers who's photos grace the pages of the Get West website: Lewis Arnold • Claude Boyer • Dar Churcher • John Gray • Neil Havers • Shirley Martin • Lynne Richard • Emily Ridley • Rob Strawson • Barry Zabrack

In the west, experience British Columbia’s Inside Passage where the Canadian Rockies meet the Pacific Ocean. BC cruises explore glacier-carved fjords and serpentine inlets protected by wildlife-rich islands such as Vancouver Island. In the north, encounter a largely undeveloped frontier of rock and ice. A Northwest Passage cruise explores entirely above the Arctic Circle, in Baffin Bay near western Greenland, with some options traveling along the top of Canada to end in Alaska. British Columbia Cruises
Small ship cruises in the Inside Passage of Canada are distinguished by their slower, exploratory pace. Let the big Canada cruise ships motor through while you’re off hiking, paddling and Zodiac cruising in secluded coves and inlets. Where is the Inside Passage in Canada? This iconic region comprises British Columbia’s coastline, in the Pacific Ocean between Washington and Alaska. Our small ship cruises in British Columbia feature everything from National Geographic experts aboard to a focus on seeing the elusive spirit bears of Haida Gwaii and learning about First Nations culture; most also include time exploring Alaska’s Inside Passage .
Newfoundland Cruises
Newfoundland cruises by small ship offer a taste of eastern Canada that’s often overlooked by the big ships. Indulge in the culture of France’s oldest overseas territory. Learn from local guides and fishermen. Experience dazzling fjords, sandstone caves, sea arches and preserved historic sites. Consider a Newfoundland cruise that sails down from Greenland, for Arctic highlights; or check out our small ship cruises in Canadian Maritimes for a visit to Nova Scotia with its beautiful coastline and historic attractions.
“Our Canada small ship cruises seek out wilderness, culture & wildlife.”
Temperature & Rainfall
Spring & Fall Canada Cruises
Canada Small Ship cruises bookend the travel season for our popular Alaska trips and Arctic expedition trips, as ships position north and south. Catch spring blooms and wildlife migrations or vibrant fall foliage depending on what time of year you choose to cruise Canada on a small ship. Note that the climate data referenced above is for Vancouver, reflective of a British Columbia cruise; temperatures on a Newfoundland cruise along the east coast are cooler but have less average rainfall.

Culture and Quirk
Get to know the distinctively laid back and unmistakably unique culture with the best West Coast cruises.
The Weird West
Check out the island prison of Alcatraz in San Francisco. Eat a classic California burrito in San Diego , with French fries actually wrapped into the tortilla. Or try spam musubi – essentially spam sushi – in Hawaii.
Get Starstruck
A trip to the West Coast wouldn't be complete without a celeb spotting in Los Angeles . Take a tour of the Warner Brothers Studio, then head to Griffith Observatory for sprawling views of the city. End your day with a live performance at the Dolby Theatre.
Cafe culture is huge on the west coast, so a visit wouldn't be complete without popping into a local coffee shop and enjoying an invigorating beverage. Get a scientifically precise pour over at Blue Bottle in San Francisco or a stoutly pulled espresso shot at Dubsea Coffee in Seattle.
Get Lost in the Right Direction
From snorkelling in the Pacific to exploring the Canadian Rockies, you'll find endless adventures everywhere on a cruise to West Coast.
Coast on Four Wheels
The rugged west coast is the perfect place to roll. Kauai , often called the Garden Island of Hawaii, is filled with lush forests, hiking trails and waterfalls. Perhaps the best way to see it all is on a 4x4 tour. Explore the unexplored parts of the island, and see why people from all over the world flock to its shores.
Find Your Wild Side
The national parks of the West Coast are full of natural wonders waiting to be discovered. Check out the exotic desert landscapes of Joshua Tree just outside Los Angeles. Hike through the rugged mountains of Olympic National Park near Seattle. Or go kayaking at Gulf Islands National Park Reserve near Victoria, British Columbia .
Explore Like a Local
West Coast life is all about being active and outdoors. Get a bird's-eye view from the Skywalk suspension bridge in Vancouver, or walk the city's Seawall Trail along the coastline.
Best West Coast Cruises
A cruise to the West Coast is filled with exciting destinations, each with its own style and vibe. Discover the West Coast onboard the Best Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships.
LINGER IN THE LAST FRONTIER
Alaska beckons with boundless natural beauty and wild discoveries. Hit the trails in Kenai Fjords National Park . Watch for breeching whales and playful Steller sea lions during a boat ride across Resurrection Bay in Seward . And wander among colourful totems in culture-rich Ketchikan.
EXPLORE ALASKA CRUISES
ROCK THE MEXICAN RIVIERA
With its laid-back resort towns, renowned beaches and rich Mexican heritage, the Baja peninsula is one of the world’s most iconic holiday destinations. Venture deep into wine country near Ensenada , unwind shoreside in lively Cabo and dive into history and culture in quaint Mazatlán.
EXPLORE MEXICAN RIVIERA CRUISES
Although the West Coast is known for its sunshine, it tends to cool off at night whatever the season, so pack light layers.
Hiking in Vancouver is a must! Be sure to pack insect repellent and bear spray to be cautious.
There's some etiquette to know when visiting Stanley Park in Vancouver. The majority of the path is a very strict one-way. If you get confused, refer to the signs providing direction all along the path, or ask a local to help you out.
A HIGHER STANDARD
From artisanal baked goods to ultra-fresh seafood, the creators of West Coast cuisine are committed to excellence.
The Old Way to Doughnut
When visiting Seattle, you need to try Top Pot Doughnuts. This doughnut shop is not only known for its hand-made circles of love but also its vintage aesthetic and commitment to doing things the old-fashioned (and delicious) way.
Take a Bite of Vancouver
Being that this city is located on the Pacific coast, you can enjoy some of the freshest fish in the world. On top of that, organic vegetables and locally sourced meats are plentiful at restaurants across the city. Head to Bluewater Cafe for cold briny oysters on the half shell.
Keep Your Cool
Beat the heat with the Hawaiian classic shaved ice. You'll find both locals and travellers enjoying this icy cool treat. What is shaved ice? It's a dessert made with ice finely shaved from a block, topped with fruit and fruit puree syrups. Head to Island Vintage Shaved Ice in Honolulu and order the lilikoi over soft serve ice cream.
RELATED PORTS
Discover the West Coast's varied hubs of adventure. Experience the rugged coastlines of Washington and Oregon, the mountains of British Columbia, the turquoise waters of Hawaii and the wilderness of Alaska. Whichever West Coast cruise port you choose, you're sure to discover why so many call it the "best coast."

Port Manzanillo cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Manzanillo, Mexico Riviera. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.
Manzanillo is a large port city in Mexico's Colima state. The port is on the Pacific Ocean and is currently ranked Mexico's busiest, also serving as seaport for the entire Mexico City metro area. Manzanillo is Colima's largest municipality specializing in resort tourism and business services. The city has population around 185,000.
Since 1957, here are hosted annually major national and international fishing competitions (including Dorsey Tournament), making it a popular deep-sea fishing destination. City's economy is based on commercial fishing (and fish processing), transport/logistics and tourism. Rail and road connections connect the seaport directly with major cities throughout Mexico. Mexico Ave (in downtown) is city's main street lined with shops and restaurants. Shopping options include Walmart Store and Plaza Manzanillo Mall.
Port Manzanillo
As a major Mexican Riviera cruise port, Manzanillo (located between Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta ) is best-known for its unique city tours (shore excursions) and great watersports activities (swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling). The city has two large bays (Manzanillo and Santiago) with 6-km/4-mi long, crescent-shaped beaches. Both are located in close proximity to the city. Santiago Bay (to the west) is popular with its wrecks and reefs. Manzanillo Bay is closer to downtown. Both bays are separated by a peninsula, on which are some of the prettiest resorts and hotels.
Since 2005, Port Manzanillo is Mexico's largest commercial port, surpassing even Veracruz. Manzanillo Harbour is comprised of Manzanillo Bay (southern harbor, industrial port) and Santiago Bay (northern harbor, cruise port).
Ship channels at the southeast end of Manzanillo Bay. Large cruise liners enter the port area there. On July 6, 2010, was inaugurated the dedicated cruise ship dock. The cruise terminal project's 2nd phase included the construction of a shopping mall.
In mid-December 2022, ICTSI/International Container Terminal Services Inc's subsidiary CMSA/Contecon Manzanillo started the Port expansion project's 3rd phase. After completion (in 2025), the Port's annual TEU-container capacity will increase from 1,4 million to 2+M TEUs. The expansion created 600+ direct jobs (1800+ total) plus ~11600 indirect jobs. The project's budget (USD 230+ million) was spent mainly on upgrading the shipping and terminal infrastructure, as well as the cargo storage yards and new TEU-handling equipment (~US$ 122M).
Manzanillo cruise terminal
Cruise ships in Manzanillo Mexico dock at the 2010-built dedicated pier (cruise terminal) located in close proximity to downtown. Alternatively, cruise liners can berth at a cargo terminal located approx 2 km east of downtown. Usually, shuttle bus service (at fee) is provided by the cruise company. Other alternatives for transportation to downtown and the beaches are regularly scheduled and frequent buses and taxis.
