Day 1 Visit the stunning city of Banja Luka

Our journey starts in Banja Luka with a pick-up from the Banja Luka international airport or from your accommodation (hotel). Banja Luka is the second-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, known for its beautiful architecture, multicultural cultural monuments, parks, and stunning nature. It is a home of great cuisine, cevapi, cheeses, beer breweries, welcoming locals, and vibrant nightlife. The package includes a sightseeing tour of the city, a visit to the Kastel castle, the Ferhadija mosque, and the Orthodox Church of Christ the Savior, and a hike to Banj Brda or Šehitluci, an oasis of nature at 260 meters with a beautiful view of the city. The trip also includes cruising on the Vrbas River by Dajak boat, one of Banja Luka’s signature traditions and an ideal way to see the city. Included meals: Lunch Accommodations: Hotel IN or private guesthouse

Day 2 Spend the day at Bosanska Otoka, and its sandy beach Milincici, and river Una before heading to Cazin

The second part of the trip is all about relaxation, swimming, and good times. After a memorable visit to Banja Luka, we will head to Bosanska Otoka, with its exotic sandy beaches. We will spend the day at the famous beach “Milincici” swimming, sunbathing, or restaurant hopping. After a day spent in the warm sun and on the sandy beaches of the beautiful river Una, we will enjoy a late lunch and our local delicacy una trout. We will then head to Cazin, where we will spend the night. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch Accommodations: Motel Kula or private guesthouse

Day 3 On the third day, visit some of the best-preserved castles and fortresses in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the eco-villages, dine on the river Una, explore its islands, raft or rent an ATV or quads, and explore the region.

After sightseeing in Cazin city, we head to one of the best-preserved castles in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ostrožac, which dates back to the 13th century. We then head to the city of Bihac, which is located next to the beautiful river Una and has a rich culture and history. We will visit the Sokolacka fortress, which dates back to the 14th century, the eco-village of Natura Art, and the Japod Islands. This area is known for the pristine emerald river Una and its beaches and islands, white water rafting, the annual international rafting regatta, explore the region by ATV and quads, famous river trout, cevapi, organic honey cake, and Begova corba (soup). The heart-shaped Japod Islands will surely leave you breathless. After the islands of Japod, we return to Bihac for lively nightlife and an overnight stay. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch Accommodations: Hotel Swiss Plus or private guesthouse

Day 4 The fourth day is all about those two spectacular waterfalls, National Park Una, and the picturesque towns of Martin Brod and Kulen Vakuf.

Hike through the largest National Park Una and explore two majestic waterfalls, Strbacki Buk and Martin Brod. After visiting the most famous Strbacki Buk waterfall, we will travel to Kulen Vakuf for fortress sightseeing and lunch. Finally, we will visit Martin Brod, a picturesque village with one of the national park’s grand waterfalls. The river Una flows through the village, creating stunning views and scenery and travelers can check out the locals’ unique eco-laundry system. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch Accommodations: private guesthouse

Day 5 Visit the Royal Jajce, the only city in the world with a waterfall in the very center of town which also has a very rich cultural history and heritage.

Jajce is a royal city located at the mouth of the Pliva river with its lakes and waterfalls. It is the only city in the world with a waterfall in the very center of the city. The Old Town is a fortress from the 13th century and is home to several monuments, such as the Catacombs, Omer Bey’s house, the Old Town, the Church of St. Mary, the Temple of Mithras, and the Tower of St. Luke. Near the center of Jajce, there are national monuments of nineteen watermills, which the local population calls “Mlinčići”. They date from the Middle Ages. Unforgettable and stunning views with lunch on Lake Pliva. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch Accommodations: Hotel Turist 98 or private guesthouse

Day 6 Visit Travnik, the birthplace of the Nobel Prize winner, Ivo Andric and famous for cevapi and cheese. Sightsee the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun

We are heading to Travnik, a town from the medieval and Ottoman eras in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the birthplace of the Nobel Prize winner for literature, Ivo Andric. We will visit the Great Karst Spring, blue water’s source, and the museum of the Nobel Prize-winning librarian. We will have traditional Travnik cevapi for lunch and taste traditional “Luftina” coffee served with sweets and a cigar. On the way to Sarajevo, we will visit Visoko and its pyramids. The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is the world’s tallest pyramid, standing over 270 meters tall, and has three preserved sides: north, east, and west. Overnight stay in Sarajevo. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch Accommodations: Hotel Boutique Libris or private guesthouse

Day 7 End of tour. Time to say goodbye.

DAY 01 : ARRIVE – SARAJEVO Arrives at  Sarajevo airport. Meet &greet by local guide. Transfer to hotel. Check-in, rest & relax. Overnight stay.

DAY 02 : SARAJEVO Breakfast at hotel. Morning depart for a full day City & Ethnic Tour . Highlights: Vrelo Bosne(the spring of river Bosna) Vrelo Bosne is a thriving tourist attraction, both for foreigners visiting Sarajevo and for locals who wish to enjoy the nature. It consists of a number of small islands connected by bridges over the various little streams.Sarajevo you will visit Tunnel Museum- during the 4 years that the city was under attack, this tunnel was the only means of going in and out of Sarajevo.  After Panoramic view of the City you will visit;  Bascarsija – old part of town. Bey’s mosque – more then 600 years old; Svrzo’s house – old Bosnian style house – museum;  this rich heritage is evident in the unique mix of architectural styles. After tour return to hotel. Overnight stay.

DAY 03 : SARAJEVO – MOSTAR –BLAGAJ(BUNA) Breakfast at hotel.  Overland transfer to Mostar. Check in at the hotel. Highlights: Visit Mostar and Blagaj(Buna). Blagaj- This 16th century dervish order monastery epitomizes the harmonious existence of man and nature. This stunning structure was built at the mouth of the largest source in Herzegovina which gushes from a cave at the base of a 200 meter cliff. Mostar – The name of the city signifies “bridge-keeper”, as a bridge has always been at the heart of the town’s identity. You will visit Muslibegovica House as ideal example of Mostar’s grand houses of the Ottoman period. Karadjoz-bey mosque, considered to be the most beautiful mosque in the region of Herzegovina, walk through the old town and owner the old bridge-listed as a UNESCO heritage site. Overnight stay.

DAY 04 : MOSTAR – JAJCE Breakfast at hotel. Morning departure to  Jajce. Jajce – Once the capital of Bosnia and the city of kings and queens. Jajce will certainly impress you with its glorious history with a number of historical important buildings and off course with the Pliva waterfall. Jajce is the world’s only city built on top of a waterfall.  Overnight stay.

DAY 05 : JAJCE – BANJA LUKA Breakfast.Morning departure to Banja Luka. Overnight.

DAY 06 : BANJA LUKA After breakfast guided tour of Banja Luka. Overnight stay.

DAY07 : BANJA LUKA – TRAVNIK – SARAJEVO Breakfast at hotel. Morning departure to Sarajevo via Travnik. (180 km) Travnik famous for its Nobel Laureate writer Ivo Andric, with its  mosque’s and fortress that dot the skyline shows the original style Bosnian architecture that gives this town its charm. Not far from Travnik is the mountain ski resort of Vlasic,  a paradise for snowboarders and a great nature break spot. In the evening hours, return transfer to Sarajevo. Overnight stay.

This tour will help you discover places and customs that are unique to this part of the world.

First you’ll visit the spot where the Sarajevo Assassination (one of three events that are most often associated with Sarajevo) took place and then you’ll continue by walking over to the other side of the Miljacka River to visit the Emperor’s Mosque, which is near the part of town where Sarajevo was first founded. Next you’ll visit the Church of At. Anthony of Padua and Franciscan Monastery, then take an easy walk up to the picturesque neighborhood of Alifakovac, and the cemetery by the same name, which offers a wonderful view of the old town, Vijećnica, Mount Trebević, many mahalas, the remains of old fortresses, the Jajce Barracks, Sarajevo Brewery…. Then you’ll make your way down to the right side of the Miljacka and visit the heart of old Sarajevo – Baščaršija. You can drink some water from the famous fountain, Sebilj, on Baščaršija’s main square, which is one of the symbols of Sarajevo. A visit to Svrzo’s House will help you see how people lived during the Ottoman period and then you’ll go see the old Orthodox Church, one of the most beautiful of its kind in the region. You’ll be able to try some real Bosnian coffee in Morića Han, the city’s last caravanserai, and will pay a visit to Bey’s Mosque and hear the story of the man who built most of old Sarajevo – Gazi Husrev Bey. After passing through the Jewish Quarter and seeing the Old Temple, it’s on to Sarajevo’s Cathedral of Jesus’ Sacred Heart. The tour comes to an end with a visit to the City Market and Markale Green Market, which was the site of two terrible massacres during the Siege of Sarajevo.

Note: There must be at least two individuals for the tour to be given and reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

The Beauty of the Vrbas River hides numerous Gems for curious Tourists

The steady increase in the number of visitors confirms that Banja Luka is becoming an increasingly appealing tourist destination in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). According to statistical data, Banja Luka recorded 116.244 tourist arrivals in 2023, which is 23 percent more than the previous year.

The main attraction is undoubtedly the Vrbas river, along which there are numerous promenades and bathing areas. Just a few kilometers from the city center is the Vrucica beach, which, due to a series of thermal mineral springs, is a favorite destination for many Banja Luka residents and tourists during spring and summer days. Several spas are located in this area, including “Direklija”, and “Kraljicina ilidza”, which is named after the legend that queens used to bathe there. These spas have the status of national cultural monuments of BiH.

Banja Luka’s Vrbas River is also known for a special type of boat called a “dajak,” which allows tourists to navigate the river and admire the city and its shores. One of the most beautiful views of the Vrbas River is from the medieval fortress Kastel, a preserved building that bears witness to the tumultuous history of this city, which has often changed rulers. Besides being one of the dominant structures in Banja Luka, Kastel is also a venue for numerous festivals and concerts during the spring and summer months.

Due to the devastating earthquake in 1969, there are not many old buildings left in Banja Luka. However, in the city center, near Krajina Square, several preserved and renovated buildings still retain the spirit of the past. One of them is the “Palas” Hotel from 1933, which is now owned by the “Zepter International” group. Although part of the famous hotel is in operation and is considered one of the luxurious accommodations, the other part of the building has been demolished, and Zepter is constructing the largest and most luxurious hotel-business complex in Republika Srpska (RS) in its place. Once completed, this over-100-meter-high building will dominate the panorama of Banja Luka and offer new facilities to tourists.

Banja Luka is also known for its religious buildings. Although this city was not affected by war conflicts, all the city’s mosques were mined and destroyed in 1993, and their reconstruction began in the post-war period. Near Kastel, the Ferhadija mosque was restored, which includes the famous Ferhat-pasha fountain. This mosque is considered one of the masterpieces of Islamic architecture in BiH, competing in beauty with the recently restored Arnaudija mosque, whose grand opening will be at the beginning of next month.

One of the main city squares today is dominated by the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which the Serbian Orthodox Church erected on the site of the former Church of the Holy Trinity. This impressive building is located near several other beautiful architectural structures, such as the Banski Dvor, which hosts numerous cultural and social events, and the City Administration building and the Palace of the Republic, the former building of the Mortgage Bank, BHRT writes.
