Kudrat is a very tastefully done property and very comfortable and warm place. It has breath-taking views of the mountains. The hosts and owners Bhawna and Sudhir are the friendliest and warmest people and it was such a pleasure getting to spend time with their family including Baby Kudrat and Olly. The food served by Bhawna is to die for. Moments spent together with the hosts including river side picnics, drinking sessions and listening to all their fun stories have really become most cherished memories from our trip. We are gonna surely visit Kudrat again.

Away from loud and noisy main city, but not too far away in Summerhill, we found this initially too cut off but then our stay there was so pleasant and the people so nice that we spent a full 7 nights and 6 days here ending with a feeling it was just right - not too long, not too short....

The scent of pine forests and the sight of the mighty Himalayas might be all the therapy you need after spending months in lockdown. Earlier this month, Himachal Pradesh opened its borders to tourists, with some rules. The minimum stay required at hotels is five days, but that might not be such a bad thing, right? Here's a list of hotels in Himachal Pradesh for that much-needed break:

Himachal Pradesh's quarantine rules

There's a long list of rules for people within the state as well as outside of the state.

All visitors travelling inter-state need to book a stay of minimum five days at any hotel. Those travelling within the state can check with the hotel on the minimum nights before booking.

Everyone must register for an e-pass.

To receive an e-pass, one must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR certificate (conducted no more than 72 hours prior to travel).

Visitors are also advised to use the Arogya Setu app while travelling.

The closest functional airports to these hotels are Kangra Airport (close to Dharamshala and Dalhousie), Kullu-Manali Airport and Chandigarh Airport (4-hour drive from Narkanda and 3-hour drive from Shimla).

What would be some suggestions on the best way of seeing the state.

We don’t have fixed travel dates as yet so are flexible in our planning and we would rather not drive ourselves as we aren’t used to driving in India.

You can take the train to Shimla (toy train, half the fun is getting there!), arrange car transfers between other places organised by your hotels. Mountain roads in India are definitely not the place to self drive if you don't have experience in India! But no foreigners self drive so that's no problem at all 😀

March to June is probably the best time in this part of India - not too cold but before the monsoon.

The other route is Delhi - Shimla - Sarahan - Sangla - Kalpa - Kaza (Lahaul - Spiti) - Manali - Delhi. May-June and September - October are the ideal time.
