We love Kwik Trip. We love so much about them, but one thing we love is following them on social . Their memes are great!  I frequent Kwik Trip for their coffee, groceries and so much more.  They are part of my daily routine.  I work out at Burn Sussex in the morning, get gas, my perfect protein bar, and the seasonal Karuba coffee (black), and go on with my day. Right now, I’m looking forward to when they drop the pumpkin flavor coffee – it’s soooo good!  What’s not to love? Plus, they are everywhere. Literally one just “popped” up near Joe Mamas in Colgate which is on the way to my parent’s house – so excited! Wisconsinites are proud of this Wisconsin-based company. It’s that good!

What’s not to love about Jwik Trip! I stop to get my fix of their peanutbutter cereal bars with rich Chocolate sauce. Often but 5 at a time. Makes a great lunch, snack and unexpected guest. Love they have roasted chicken and their dinners. Since it is just me, I’m always looking for a quick healthy n fulfilling meals. And, of course, you need a drink Mine is the Arizona tea. There something refreshing and a mist unique taste. Once in a while I’ll have a coffee drink. But the best part is their clerks are friendly and very accommodating. Last time I was there a shelf was empty of a food I wanted. The clerk went I to back room to see if there some that just had not been put out. It’s those niceties that kerp me coming back. My trip onto Pewaukee takes ne by there daily. And leaving with a full stomach, full tank of gas and a clean car just feels so great.

I love Kwik Trip! Easy shopping for the deals on butter, bread, milk, bananas, and onions. I love the coffee on my way to work. I also love that they are a Wisconsin business!

What is not to love at kwik trip, 🤔 glaciers, chic sandwich, double cheese burger, bread Stix fountain soda, candy and of course the chocolate milk with ice💣

Love the bakery. Goes perfectly with a hot cup of Karuba coffee.

I love their grill items like stuffed bread sticks, Angus burgers, and their pizzas.

Quick Trip is always clean and has the friendliest service!

Love Kwik Trip. Always stop before work and pick up some coffee, sandwich and a sweet roll. After work I sometimes stop and get a delicious pizza or subs for the kids. Whatever I get though you can be sure it’s top quality. The employees are so wonderful, always smiling. Happy to see each customer. Prices are just right and they always have such a variety of different things to eat. It’s a wonderful place. I visit the Kwik Trip in Oconomowoc.

KWIK TRIP is the handiest place to stop for something delicious to eat during the day and also at night. Coffee is supreme. Snacks are plentiful. Gas price is great. Wonderful place to visit if you haven’t yet.

I NEED Kwik Trip refreshing fountain soda every day! Car wash is awesome! LOVE LOVE LOVE the chicken wrapped with bacon and stuffed with cheese. I make it on the grill ALLL the time. It is so big that it feeds two:).

Best place to stop when needing to feed the kids on the go, grab some quick basic necessities or quench the craving for a fountain drink…Yum! That being said, the best part of Kwik Trip are the super friendly/professional employees and cleanliness of the restrooms! Friends even make fun of me because I am not shy about my love affair with Kwik Trip!

It’s great for the families to use a good savings when they are off work winter great savings…I love getting my milk hot dogs and bread there and dairy products that’s the only place where we get our gas and small foods on the way .

KWIK TRIP IS AWESOME!!! A kwik trip to get gas, and buy my favorite foods. I get donuts, eggs, bananas, chicken, soup, pizza, milk and .orange juice. Kwik trip has good prices, rewards, and friendly employees.

I love the coffee. And the price is great. There are so many kwik trips around no matter where I go. So never a problem to fill up my reusable mug. I love it!

Flavored milk drive sales Kwik Trip

In 2023, Midwest Dairy partnered with Kwik Trip/Kwik Star to promote their limited-time offer of milk flavors. This partnership aimed to encourage innovation in the dairy industry and well as drive incremental sales through a consumer awareness campaign. Kwik Trip/Kwik Star has over 800 stores in Illinois, Iowa (called Kwik Star in Iowa), Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota.

The featured flavor campaign began in July and ran through August, highlighting a Root Beer Flavor Milk to shoppers. From September through October, Pumpkin Spice Flavored Milk was offered. Finally, the Egg Nog flavored milk began November 1 and ran through the end of 2023. These three campaigns drove over 800,000 incremental pounds of milk. The programming included a 15-second in-store television advertising, cooler clings, and online advertising of the milk flavors.

MADISON, WI

State's value of corn for grain production in 2023 falls 26% from 2022.

 The production of Wisconsin’s field and miscellaneous crops was valued at $4.65 billion in 2023, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service –  Crop Values 2023 Summary . This was down 22 percent from 2022. 

The value of corn for grain production totaled $2.43 billion, down 26 percent from the previous year. Wisconsin’s corn price averaged $4.40 per bushel, $1.71 below the last marketing year. 

The value of soybean production was $1.30 billion, down 19 percent from 2022. The average price decreased $1.40 from the previous year to $12.40 per bushel. 

Value of production increased from 2022 to 2023 for other hay and potatoes in  Wisconsin . Value of production decreased from 2022 to 2023 for barley, alfalfa hay, oats, rye, and winter wheat.

Flavored milk drives sales at Kwik Trip

Mooove over chocolate milk, make room for new flavors on the shelf at your local Kwik Trip. Last year the LaCrosse-based convenience story chain partnered with Midwest Dairy to promote limited-time offer of milk flavors. In addition to inviting innovation, flavored milks such as Root Beer, Pumpkin Spice and Egg Nog did very well sales-wise at stores throughout the Midwest, Dairy Herd Management reported. According to Midwest Dairy, these three campaigns drove over 800,000 incremental pounds of milk.

White House issues “Product of U.S.A.” meat labeling reform

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack  announced  a new policy mandating that all meat products sold with the “Product of U.S.A.” label must be derived from animals born, raised, slaughtered, and processed in the U.S.

This rule addresses a loophole created by the repeal of mandatory country of origin labeling in 2015: Multinational meatpacking corporations began placing a “Product of U.S.A.” label on imported meat repackaged in the U.S. This fraudulent labeling put American farmers and ranchers out of business while deceiving consumers.

Corn, soybeans, oats and milk prices all down from January 2023

The average price received by farmers for cornduring January 2024 in Wisconsin was $4.45 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service –  Agricultural Prices  report. This was 5 cents below the December price and $1.75 below January 2023. 

The January 2024 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $12.60 per bushel, was 40 cents below the December price and $1.50 below the January 2023 price. 

All hayprices in  Wisconsin  averaged $191.00 per ton in January. This was $12.00 above the December price and $34.00 above the January 2023 price. The January 2024 alfalfa hayprice, at $199.00, was $12.00 above the previous month and $36.00 above January 2023.

The average milk pricewas $18.00 per cwt, $1.00 below the December price and $4.00 below January 2023.

Brown Swiss breeders prepare to Celebrate Swissconsin at July convention

Brown Swiss enthusiasts are invited to “Celebrate Swissconsin” at the 2024 National Brown Swiss Convention in Green Bay, July 3-6, at the Hyatt Regency Green Bay. A highlight of the convention will be the National Brown Swiss Sale on July 6 at the Brown County Fairgrounds in De Pere, Wis. Consignments for the sale of high-quality Brown Swiss cattle, embryos, semen and choices of donors are being sought right now.

“Consigning an animal or a choice to the National Sale is one of the best ways a breeder can put their breeding program in the national spotlight for marketability and promotion of their herd,” says Norm Magnussen, National Sale Manager, Brown Swiss Enterprises. “The National Sale has a great legacy of offering buyers options to advance their existing breeding program or lay the foundation for a new Brown Swiss venture, and this sale will certainly continue that legacy in Wisconsin.”

July 4 is youth day and will include the ST Genetics National Junior Heifer Show as well as the National Brown Swiss Fun Auction at the Brown County Fairgrounds. July 5 will feature farm tours led by Wisconsin Brown Swiss breeders: Meadow Brook Farm, the Kappelman family, Manitowoc; Jenlar Holsteins & Brown Swiss, the Meyer family, Chilton; Loehr Dairy, Joe and Mark Loehr (along with their families), Mt. Calvary; and ST Genetics, Fond du Lac.

Walmart plans to build third new milk processing plant

The largest retail store in the country is planning to build its third milk processing plant just south of Waco, Texas. The announcement follows the construction of retail giant Walmart's second milk processing plant in Valdosta, Georgia which is expected to open next year. The newest facility, which carries a price tag of $350 million is set to open in 2026 and will source its milk from Texas dairy farmers, Dairy Herd Management reported. Walmart opened its first fluid milk processing facility in 2018 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Holstein breeders honored at WHA Holstein Convention

Holstein breeders from across the state were in attendance at the annual Wisconsin Holstein Association (WHA) Adult Holstein Convention, hosted by the Green County Holstein Association in New Glarus. 2023 Wisconsin Top Performer cow owners for 2023 are: Tom Kestell, Ever-Green-View, Waldo; Emily Stumpf of Appleton; and Valley Drive Holsteins, Campbellsport. The overall Top Performer was Valley-Drive Mctchn Snip EX-90 who at 7-08 made 51,796 pounds of milk, 4.9% and 2568 pounds of fat, and 3.4% and 1787 pounds of protein in 305 days. 

This year's Wall of Fame Inductees were: person, John Auestad; bull, Lirr Drew Dempsey; and cow, Inwood Taffy Apollo

Kwik Trip to expand

The newly proposed capital investment would encompass further expansion of its dairy, commissary, and bakery facilities in La Crosse, Wis., the purchase and renovation of a commercial office building in Onalaska, and the construction of a new satellite distribution center.

Convenience store chain Kwik Trip will invest more than $151 million to expand its operations at multiple locations throughout Wisconsin, creating more than 500 jobs by 2027, according to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

“Kwik Trip is one of Wisconsin’s most instantly recognizable success stories,” said Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of WEDC. “While most of us are familiar with Kwik Trip for its retail operations, the company continues to grow its manufacturing and supply chain base in our state, which is creating hundreds of jobs and new investments even faster than anyone could have anticipated.”

As a result of the growth at its La Crosse support center and the construction and acquisition of 168 new retail locations, Kwik Trip’s total eligible Wisconsin employee count has increased from 4,342 in 2017 to 12,442 in 2023, a total increase of 8,100 workers.

Kwik Trip discontinues bagged milk after more than 40 years

Over the year it’s seen a significant decline in sales of bagged milk compared to milk in jugs.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WBAY) - Kwik Trip convenience stores won’t be as convenient for buyers of bagged milk. The company announced it’ll stop selling Nature’s Touch bagged milk after carrying the product for more than 40 years in its stores.

Kwik Trip saw a significant decline in sales of bagged milk compared to milk in jugs.

“This is an end to a product that was associated with the Kwik Trip brand for many years, but after evaluating the need and cost for new equipment to replace our antiquated bagged milk equipment, and the decreased customer demand, we made the tough decision to discontinue Nature’s Touch milk in the bag,” John Hughes, Kwik Trip’s vice president of external relations, said.

McHugh said the marketing department has contacted groups who used special promotional coupons for bagged milk and is offering solutions with Kwik Trip’s other milk products. Kwik Trip CEO Scott Zietlow says the company will focus on items that “resonate more strongly with our guests.”

Bagged milk will disappear from stores beginning in May.

Here's how many kwik trip glazers, coffees and gallons of milk were sold in 2023.

Can Kwik Trip lovers' love be quantified? Kind of.

The beloved La Crosse-based convenience store chain dropped a 2023 recap of its own on social media. It was a year-by-the-numbers look of sorts that included the total amounts sold of some popular KT offerings.

Yes, of course, Glazers were on there. This past year, a whopping 38,099,636 of 'em were purchased.

And, what pairs better with a doughnut than coffee? KT sold 46,365,322 of those in 2023.

The recap also shared that 26,821,499 chicken tenders and 25,043,229 gallons of milk were sold.

Twenty-six new stores were built this past year, per the Instagram post. Kwik Trip operates 506 stores in Wisconsin and another 349 elsewhere.

And, the number of guests the chain served in 2023 was 559,913,741, the post said.

Milk in a Bag and Other Things in Kwik Trip

They have fresh coffee too. I drink coffee occasionally, but Tiffany has to have hers every morning. Whenever we go into a Kwik Trip , someone is making a fresh pot. We have yet to have old coffee while there and they have a large selection of specialty brews as well. They also have a variety of creamers, sweeteners, and syrups. And its pretty cheap, especially compared to going to Starbucks.

Then there’s the dairy section. If you are not from Wisconsin, there’s a good chance you have no idea what cheese curds are. Basically, its baby cheese. Its the form cheese takes as its being made before its been aged and pressed into a compact rectangle for selling blocks of cheese. At Kwik Trip , its brought in daily so you know its fresh. When you bite into it, it squeaks on your teeth. The fresher it is, the more pronounced the squeak.

Then of course is the milk in a bag. This is brought in daily as well. Its a half-gallon, so not as much as you might buy normally, but its still enough for a few days. It comes in a bag though, not a plastic jug. They have pitchers stacked right next to the milk too, and they are free to take, so grab one as well.

The milk comes in the standard varieties, Whole, Skim, and 1% (or whatever the terms are now), as well as chocolate and orange juice. When you get home, drop the bag in the pitcher and cut off the corner and you have a convenient spout. Do not pour the milk in the pitcher though, just drop in the bag.

Kwik Trip also has a decent selection of cheap vegetables and fruit as well. Potatoes, onions, apples and oranges, along with some others. In Wisconsin, you don’t have to worry about running into a grocery store for 30 minutes to find what you need when its something Kwik Trip has. They also have some meat like ground hamburger, deli cuts, bacon and sausage. Of course, they have salads and sandwiches premade as well if you are in a rush and want to grab something fast.

Beyond that, its a standard gas station with Slim Jims, soda, beer, ice, and toiletries. The ATMs are free as well.

The milk in a bag is definitely a Kwik Trip thing. I’ve never seen it in any other stores, even in Wisconsin. I have heard that Kwik Trips not in Wisconsin also have them, but they are pretty much exclusive to the Midwest.
