One of the great features of Pokemon R/B/Y, was definitely the Safari Zone. Unfortunately, this feature was unavailable in G/S/C, but in R/S a whole new Safari Zone is open on Route 121, just west of Lilycove City.

When you meet a Pokemon you can do 1 of 4 things:

If you choose any of the first 3 options, there is a chance that the wild Pokemon will run away. It doesn't flee, then you have a chance to capture it. The Pokemon may be easier to capture if you are closer to it, or if it is feeding on a Pokéblock.

It is also possible to place Pokéblocks in special feeders, which spread around the Safari Zone. The Pokéblocks draw Pokemon which like the taste, meaning that it helps to lure Pokemon of a certain nature which you might want.

To fully explore the Safari Zone needs at least 2 different visits, as certain areas can only be reached on a certain bike. If you want to explore the North-West, then take the Mach Bike with you. If you want to explore the North-East, then you need the Acro Bike. You may also need HM03 (Surf) to help you venture around the Safari Zone, as some of the items found in the Safari Zone, can only be gotten by surfing across lakes. You can find a Calcium, a Max Revive and TM22 (Solarbeam), all hidden in there.

The Safari Zone is home to many rare Pokemon, which aren't found anywhere else in Hoenn. These are the full lists:

Safari Zone/Acro Bike help

  • Thread starter EMF001
  • Start date Apr 28, 2007
  • Apr 28, 2007

greetings all. I just joined up and I hope someone here can give me a hand. In Emerald, I'm trying to use the Acro Bike to get to the North East part of the Safari Zone. I use the bike to go across the skinny white bridge and then do a wheely jump to try to leap over to the next part of the bridge but for some reason I can't move the control up or down. As a result I'm stuck. Anyone out there know how I can solve this little problem? Both my girlfriend and I have tried evrything we know and still can't get across.

Well-Known Member

you have to cpress down the direction you want to go and do a hop at the same time, it's sort of complicated, hope this helps!

I believe I did that but I'll try again anyway to see maybe I wasn't focusing. I'll let know what happens. Thanks for the info.

If you leave your hand on b the bike will keep hoping and you can move with it. Do jump up press Up and b at the same time to jump to the side but going up, Lol a more simple way. Say your bike is facing this way <- press up and b at the same time and it will jump upwards. Hope i helped.

Jump: Press the B Button and the + Control Pad at the same time to jump. Press the + Control Pad to the side to jump sideways. Press it backwards to make the BIKE change directions while jumping.

I tried what everyone suggested and it didn't seem to work. It appears that when your on those skinny white bridges, you can only move side-to-side and can't point yourself in either the up or down direction. I'll keep trying but if I still can't maybe I'll import those Pokemon from another game like my copy of Leaf Green.

Once you are on the slats, to get to the next one, press Up and B at the same time. It can take a while to get the hang of it, but it does work.

Ruby/Sapphire - Safari Zone

The Ball option let's you throw one of your many Safari Balls. Always first try this. If the Pokemon doesn't go into the ball, throw a PokeBlock. It makes the Pokemon curious. Other times, the Pokemon completely ignores the PokeBlock, and will watch you carefully. Try the Ball again. If it still doesn not work, Go Near the Pokemon, and throw another Ball. Keep on repeating this process until you catch it. Throw as many balls as you can. You've paid $500 for it anyway.

There are PokeBlock feeders in the grasses. What you might want to do is put a PokeBlock in there, and it will lure Pokemon who like that specific taste towards you.

A Traveler's Guide to the World of Pokémon/Safari Zone

The Safari Zone is an area of the Pokémon video game series. As its name suggests, the player, upon entering, may capture Pokémon in an environment resembling a safari . Although many Pokémon residing in the Safari Zone can be caught elsewhere, some, such as Scyther and Pinsir , are exclusive to this area only.

It also includes 1, 10, or 30 Safari Balls possible. If you pay the fee of 500 Poké-dollars you get 30 Safari Balls. If you have less than that you will get 10 Safari Balls. If you don't have any money you get 1 Safari Ball.

Unlike most areas containing wild Pokémon, the Safari Zone places several restrictions on the player.

  • A fee of 500 Pokémon dollars is required to enter.
  • A "time limit" of 500 steps (600 in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen )
  • The player is only allowed to use the 30 provided Safari Balls to capture Pokémon. In addition, owned Pokémon are not allowed to participate in confrontations, and the player must rely on a limited amount of commands, such as baiting and throwing rocks, to interact.
  • 1 Red/Blue/Yellow
  • 2 Gold/Silver/Crystal
  • 3.1 Emerald
  • 4 Diamond and Pearl

Red/Blue/Yellow [ edit | edit source ]

The Safari Zone in the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions of Pokémon is located in the northern part of Fuchsia City . It contains four areas, each containing different species of Pokémon.

When encountering a wild Pokémon, a Pokémon from the player's party is not sent out. Instead, the player has the option to run away, offer bait, throw rocks, or attempt to capture the Pokémon by using a Safari Ball. Offering bait will make the Pokémon less likely to run away, but decrease the chance of catching it by making the ball miss more often. Throwing rocks will hurt the Pokémon, making it easier to catch but increasing the chance of it running away.

It is also the vital piece of the puzzle of Glitch City . Also there was a way to steal safari balls and using them for own use.

Gold/Silver/Crystal [ edit | edit source ]

In the Gold, Silver , and Crystal versions of the game, the Safari Zone is absent. The entrance still remains at its usual location in the north of Fuchsia City, but the player is unable to enter it. A " beta " version of a Safari Zone map is included in the programming of the game, leading to the speculation that it might have been removed due to the discovery of so many glitches in the R/B/Y versions. However, it is also likely it was simply scrapped due to time restraints. The unfinished Safari Zone may still be accessed through GameShark or another cheating device. [1]

Ruby/Sapphire [ edit | edit source ]

In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire , the Safari Zone made a reappearance. It is located about halfway through Route 121, and while it is similar to the R/B/Y Safari Zone, it introduces several new key differences. Only 500 steps and 30 Safari Balls are permitted, as in the old version, and the player is still restricted to engaging the Pokémon themselves by luring, distracting, capturing, or running away. However, instead of using unlimited "baiting," the player must now use a Pokéblock chosen from their own inventory. Instead of throwing rocks, the player is given the choice to "get closer".

Other changes include the addition of Pokéblock feeders, on which you can place a Pokéblock and wait for Pokémon to appear, rather than look for them. Also, some areas are inaccessible unless the player has a particular bike. The Mach Bike is needed to reach the Northwest corner of the map, while the Northeast corner of the map requires you to have the Acro Bike. Each area contains a different set of Pokémon.

Finally, the player cannot save while inside the Safari Zone. However, quitting at any time is available by choosing the "RETIRE" option on the Start menu or talking to the man by the exit.

The player can still use Pokémon abilities, such as Surf and Rock Smash, inside the Safari Zone, along with the new move, "Sweet Scent," which can be used to draw wild Pokémon without walking. Also, fishing or turning in circles without moving will not count against your time quota.

Emerald [ edit | edit source ]

The Safari Zone is also present in Pokémon Emerald, and is the same as Ruby and Sapphire's; however, it now has a new section to the right of the entrance that will open after defeating the Elite Four. This new area has a north and a south section, each filled with Pokémon from the Johto region (this is the only place in the game in which some Pokémon can be caught without trading).

Diamond and Pearl [ edit | edit source ]

Renamed Great Marsh (though the in-game map still refers to it as the Safari Zone), and located near Pastoria City . The player can travel by train to access each area of the Great Marsh, although some areas are interconnected without train. There are six areas in the Great Marsh most of which are covered with mud. You will get stuck in the mud and to get out, simply move the character around. The ability to "move closer" has changed to "throw mud", which functions much like the "throw rocks" of the earlier games, and "throw bait" also returns from the older games, while bait feeders were removed.

How do you use the acro bike to jump the circular ledges?

  • The bunny hop should work, where you hold B. If you are talking about the railing in the safari zone, all you have to do is point in respective direction and press B. If not, and you are talking about the wood ledge things, make sure you are lined up and hold B. Hope this helped! TypH_ - 9 years ago - report 20   15

The Acro Bike (Japanese: ダートじてんしゃ Dirt Bike ) is a Key Item introduced in Generation III . It is one of the bicycles the player can ride in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire , Emerald , Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire . It is the counterpart to the Mach Bike .

In the core series games

Pokémon ruby, sapphire, emerald, omega ruby, and alpha sapphire.

The Acro Bike travels at the same speed as regular bicycles (10.67 steps per second in Generation VI ), but it also allows players to perform tricks, such as wheelies and bunny hops, which let players reach special areas. If the player is already riding the Acro Bike, then using this item causes the player to resume walking.

It can also be used for traveling on white rails found on Route 119 and in the Hoenn Safari Zone .

Bunny hopping up and down on an Acro Bike in tall grass can cause wild Pokémon to appear, but does not count as steps towards the Safari Game or Repel .

Riding the Acro Bike or Mach Bike is required on the Seaside Cycling Road . Unlike the Mach Bike , if the player rides on Seaside Cycling Road with the Acro Bike, their time won't be recorded, due to the bicycle being "easy to turn" in comparison.

  • Hold B Button (less than 2 seconds): standing wheelie
  • Hold B Button (more than 2 seconds): bunny hop
  • Hold B, then +Control Pad : moving wheelie or bunny hop
  • Press B and +Control Pad direction (perpendicular to direction of travel) simultaneously: sideways hop
  • Press B and +Control Pad direction (opposite to direction of travel) simultaneously: hops and reverses direction

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen , the Acro Bike (as well as the Mach Bike ) is found in the game data, but it is not legitimately obtainable .

When this item is used, the player simply starts riding the regular Bicycle (unless the player is any place where riding the Bicycle is not allowed). If the player is already riding the Bicycle, then using this item causes the player to resume walking (unless the player is in the Cycling Road , where riding the Bicycle is required).

When the player attempts to enter the Cycling Road, the game specifically checks for the event flag indicating that the player has received the Bicycle from the Miracle Cycle shop in Cerulean City . As a result, if the player has the Acro Bike but has never received the regular Bicycle from Miracle Cycle, the player will still be unable to enter the Cycling Road.

The Bicycle was introduced as an Item card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English XY Series (the Japanese XY Era). First released in the Primal Clash expansion, it was later featured in the Japanese The Best of XY collection. When played, the Arco Bike allows the player to look at the top two cards in their deck. The player then chooses one of those cards and puts it in their hand. The remaining card is discarded.

  • In Generation IV , in Rad Rickshaw's Cycle Shop , there are advertisements on the shelves for the Mach and Acro Bikes.
  • In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire , the bells on the different bikes have notably different sounds.
  • In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! , the Bike Maniac in Cerulean City has some Acro Bikes on display at his home.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).

Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).

UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.

Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
