Set design is by  Anthony Ward , choreography by  Karen Bruce , costume design by  Fay Fullerton,  orchestrations and musical supervision by  Chris Egan , lighting design by  Ben Cracknell , sound design by  Tom Marshall  and video design by  Andrzej Goulding .

CAST ANNOUNCED FOR THE FIRST EVER TOUR OF THE DRIFTERS GIRL

Casting has been announced for the first ever UK and Ireland tour of the acclaimed West End musical The Drifters Girl, which will visit Wales Millennium Centre on 7-11 May 2024.

Carly Mercedes Dyer, a former star of Six the Musical who also delighted audiences with her performances as Erma in Anything Goes, will play music industry change-maker, Faye Treadwell.  Carly will star alongside 2018 X Factor winner Dalton Harris, Ashford Campbell (The Drifters Girl), Miles Anthony Daley (Tina Turner: The Musical) and Tarik Frimpong (The Wiz, Aladdin).

Jaydah Bell-Ricketts (A Little Princess, School Of Rock) will be joining the cast in her first touring role as Girl. Completing the cast is Loren Anderson, Tre Copeland-Williams, Ethan Davis, Matthew Dawkins and Linseigh Green.

The Drifters Girl tells the remarkable story of The Drifters, one of the world’s greatest vocal groups and the truth about the woman who made them. Faye Treadwell is the legendary manager of The Drifters who fought for three decades alongside her husband (George Treadwell) to turn Atlantic Records’ hottest vocal group into a global phenomenon. 

From the highs of hit records and sell-out tours to the lows of legal battles and personal tragedy, The Drifters Girl charts the trailblazing efforts of the world’s first African American female music manager and how she refused to ever give up on the group she loved. Thirty years and hundreds of hit songs later, there is no doubt that Faye Treadwell was and always will be, The Drifters Girl.

The Drifters Girl boasts an incredible soundtrack of some of the most famous songs in history, including Save The Last Dance For Me, Under The Boardwalk, Kissin In The Back Row Of The Movies, Stand By Me, Come On Over To My Place, Saturday Night At The Movies and many more.

With a book by Ed Curtis, The Drifters Girl is based on an idea by Tina Treadwell and is co-created by Beverley Knight, Adam J Bernard, Tarinn Callender, Matt Henry and Tosh Wanogho-Maud. It is directed by Jonathan Church. Set design is by Anthony Ward, choreography by Karen Bruce, costume design by Fay Fullerton, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Tom Marshall, video design by Andrzej Goulding, orchestrations by Chris Egan and Will Stuart as Musical Supervisor.

The Drifters Girl Announces Extended UK Tour Dates

Michael Harrison and David Ian are announce extended dates for the first-ever UK and Ireland tour of  The Drifters Girl , the acclaimed new musical which tells the remarkable story of one of the world’s greatest vocal groups and the woman who made them.

Having played to packed houses and nightly standing ovations at the Garrick Theatre in London’s West End (following a triumphant run at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal), the production recently announced a UK Tour to open in 2023, with performances beginning at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, on Tuesday 12th September 2023.

The Drifters Girl  announces first UK tour dates

The show closes in the West End next month

Tour dates have been announced for  The Drifters Girl , the new musical which tells the story of the acclaimed vocal group and the people who made it.

The show has been playing at the West End’s Garrick Theatre since November 2021, following an initial run at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal. The tour will begin at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, on 12 September 2023.

It then goes on to visit Theatre Royal Norwich, Lyceum Theatre Sheffield, Bradford Alhambra Theatre, Manchester Opera House, Milton Keynes Theatre, Curve in Leicester, Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, Theatre Royal Newcastle, New Victoria Theatre Woking, Dartford Orchard Theatre and Bristol Hippodrome. 

Further dates for 2024 are to be announced, along with the touring production’s cast.

The show, about the rise of the hit band and those who made it happen, continues at the Garrick Theatre until next month, with a cast of Felicia Boswell, Adam J Bernard, Tarinn Callender, Matt Henry and Tosh Wanogho-Maud. 

Beverley Knight originated the role of Faye before Boswell took over the part. The show received a  glowing review from WhatsOnStage last year .

The musical has a book by Ed Curtis, and is based on an idea by Tina Treadwell. It is co-created by Knight, Bernard, Callender, Henry and Wanogho-Maud.

The Drifters Girl  is directed by Jonathan Church, with set design by Anthony Ward, choreography by Karen Bruce, costume design by Fay Fullerton, orchestrations and musical supervision by Chris Egan, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Tom Marshall and video design by Andrzej Goulding. Associate director is Tyrone Huntley and associate choreographer is Myles Brown with casting by Stuart Burt and children’s casting by Jo Hawes.

The Drifters Girl  is produced by Michael Harrison and David Ian.

Casting announced for first ever UK & Ireland tour of ‘THE DRIFTERS GIRL’

Producers Michael Harrison and David Ian have announced casting for the first ever UK and Ireland tour of THE DRIFTERS GIRL , the critically acclaimed new West End musical which tells the remarkable story of one of the world’s greatest vocal groups and the woman who made them.

Having played to packed houses at the Garrick Theatre in London’s West End, THE DRIFTERS GIRL will begin performances at the Mayflower Theatre , Southampton , on Tuesday 12 th September 2023 , before touring to venues across the UK and Ireland through to May 2024 .

Carly Mercedes Dyer will star as music industry change-maker, Faye Treadwell, alongside Ashford Campbell , Miles Anthony Daley , Tarik Frimpong  and Dalton Harris . Jaydah Bell-Ricketts will play her first touring role as Girl. Completing the cast is Loren Anderson , Tre Copeland-Williams , Ethan Davis , Matthew Dawkins and Linseigh Green .

Telling the remarkable story of The Drifters, one of the world’s greatest vocal groups, and the truth about the woman who made them. Faye Treadwell is the legendary manager of The Drifters who fought for three decades alongside her husband (George Treadwell) to turn Atlantic Records’ hottest vocal group into a global phenomenon. From the highs of hit records and sell-out tours to the lows of legal battles and personal tragedy, The Drifters Girl charts the trailblazing efforts of the world’s first African American female music manager and how she refused to ever give up on the group she loved. Thirty years and hundreds of hit songs later, there is no doubt that Faye Treadwell was and always will be, The Drifters Girl .

THE DRIFTERS GIRL boasts an incredible soundtrack of some of the most famous songs in history, including Save The Last Dance For Me, Under The Boardwalk , Kissin In The Back Row Of The Movies , Stand By Me , Come On Over To My Place , Saturday Night At The Movies , and many more.

THE DRIFTERS GIRL , with a   book by  Ed Curtis,  is based on an idea by  Tina Treadwell  and is co-created by  Beverley Knight ,  Adam J Bernard ,  Tarinn Callender ,  Matt Henry  and  Tosh Wanogho-Maud . The production is directed by Jonathan Church . Set design is by  Anthony Ward , choreography by  Karen Bruce , costume design by  Fay Fullerton , lighting design by  Ben Cracknell , sound design by  Tom Marshall , video design by  Andrzej Goulding , orchestrations by  Chris Egan and  Will Stuart as Musical Supervisor.
