What happens on the day?

On the day of your pre-booked visit, you will exchange your voucher for official tickets at the Buckingham Palace Ticket Office (Gate A). You’ll then be able to soak up the historic atmosphere as you explore the incredible State Rooms and Treasures of the Royal Collection abound, with priceless paintings, incredible furniture and porcelains.

On the day of your afternoon tea experience at Harrods, you and your guest will make your way to the 4th Floor of the iconic department store, where you'll be warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to your pre-booked seats. Once settled at your table you will be served with your choice of specialty teas chosen from the Harrods’ range, and a selection of savoury and sweet treats including finger sandwiches, individual cakes, delicious patisseries and warmed scones served with clotted cream and Harrods preserve. Take your time and soak up the atmosphere of this elegant setting – the perfect destination for a luxurious afternoon treat.

Participant guidelines

• Minimum age: 18
• Voucher is not valid for visitors requiring level access on the wheelchair access route. You must purchase tickets directly with Royal Collection Trust.

Availability

Your vouchers are valid weekends from 15 July – 29 September 2024. Kindly note that vouchers cannot be extended.

The Visit to Buckingham Palace State Rooms is available on Saturdays and Sundays at 13.45.

Admission to the State Rooms is at 13.45 but please arrive at the Ticket Office (gate A) by 13:30 to exchange your voucher.

Visitors are advised to arrive 15 minutes before admission time. You will also need to have a physical printed version of your voucher to exchange on arrival.

You must have made your booking with the Virgin Experience Days Customer Service Team a minimum of 14 days prior to the date you wish to attend Buckingham Palace. Failure to do so may result in you losing your experience.

Please note that all Official Residences of The King are working Royal Palaces. Opening arrangements may change at short notice. Please check before planning a visit. Please check the direct website www.rct.uk for up to date information.

Afternoon tea is available Saturdays 12.00 to 20.00 (last sitting 18.15) and Sundays 12.00 to 18.00 (last sitting 16.15)

You must book and take your experience before the voucher expiry date.  All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow approximately 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes for your visit to the State Rooms and 1 hour 30 minutes for your afternoon tea. Also be sure to allow for travel time between venues.

What about insurance?

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Availability

The Royal Horseguards Hotel afternoon tea is served daily from 13.00–16.30 and is not available from the 24th-26th December and 31st of December. 

Buckingham Palace State Rooms are open from the 15th of July to the 29th of September. Entry times start at 13:15. They are open 7 days a week from the 11th of July to the 31st of August, and open Thursday-Monday from September.

Enjoy our Royal Afternoon Tea for two alongside Ceylon Golden Tips, in partnership with specialist tea merchants PMD Tea. This rare tea is produced in the highlands of Sri Lanka and is skillfully handpicked at sunset. With white-glove service, this delicate tea is weighed with precision at The Rubens using golden scales; each tip is placed into the silver teapot individually with golden tweezers. The tea, which is showcased in a mahogany box lined with velvet, is infused with still mineral water to produce an extraordinary liquor and a smooth, light and mellow texture, with hints of fruity notes.

A unique tour of the King’s residence, Buckingham Palace, offers royalists a fascinating insight into royal life. Tour through the 19 magnificent State Rooms which are used by the Royal Family for official ceremonial occasions, including the Throne Room, Music Room, Picture Gallery and State Dining Room. Complete the day with a very royal affair with an afternoon tea at The Rubens at the Palace, a 5-star hotel that overlooks the Royal Mews. Delve into their famous royal afternoon tea which showcases excellent pastry craft, including dainty finger sandwiches, moreish cakes and pastries and traditional scones with clotted cream.

• Availability Description Receive two vouchers, both are valid for two people. These experiences can be used on the same or on different days. The dress code for The Rubens is smart casual and they respectfully ask guests to refrain from wearing sportswear, flip-flops and non-tailored shorts – guests not adhering to the dress code policy will not be permitted entry into the restaurants and bars.
• Other Info All our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against our huge range of experiences. Bookings must be made in advance, walk-ups will not be accepted. After a few hours of history and culture, head over to Café Rouge for an afternoon tea with a continental twist on the British tradition with extra je ne sais quoi, revel in two tiers of sweet treats and one plate of savouries packed with French flair. Accompanied by a choice of refillable teas, infusions, coffee and hot chocolate!
