SuperStream - Fund USI and SPIN lookup table

The ATO publishes information about super funds to assist employers access information required to send contributions using SuperStream.

This information includes unique superannuation identifiers (USI) which uniquely identifies an APRA fund and/or its superannuation products which an employee (member) contributes to.

You can obtain fund USI details from your service provider, the superannuation fund or via Super Fund Lookup .

The USI has replaced the superannuation product identification number (SPIN) which was previously used by some funds as a product identifier.

If you currently make employer contributions to funds using a SPIN you will need to obtain the USI this SPIN corresponds to.

You can find all USIs that correspond to SPINs by using the Fund USI and SPIN lookup table.

How to search the Fund USI and SPIN lookup table

To use the Fund USI and SPIN lookup table you will need to know the SPIN.

The Fund USI and SPIN lookup table includes the following information:

  • SPIN (super product identifier number)
  • USI (unique superannuation identifier)
  • Product name
  • Contribution restrictions.

By using the Fund USI and SPIN lookup table , employers will also be able to confirm if contribution restrictions exist for a product. If a product has a contribution restriction you are advised to contact the relevant fund before using this information.

Note: The Fund USI and SPIN lookup table only contains information for large APRA-regulated funds that have previously used a SPIN. It does not include information for super funds that have not used a SPIN, for example, all small APRA regulated funds and self-managed super funds are not included in this table.

Version control

It is expected data in Fund USI and SPIN lookup table ( version 1.8 published 23 September 2015) will remain stable and will only be updated by us when required by us.

The information provided in the Fund USI and SPIN lookup table is for the use of employers and must be used solely for the purpose of implementation of SuperStream.

The Fund USI and SPIN lookup table relies on information received from third parties. We cannot make any guarantees as to the accuracy of the information. If you are unsure about this information we recommend you contact the fund concerned or your service provider.

Fund Validation Service

Registering rollover and contribution details of products for APRA funds.

Last updated 19 October 2021

Your APRA-regulated fund must provide rollover and contribution details of its products on the Fund Details Register. You do this using the Fund Validation Service (FVS).

FVS web services

The FVS consists of the following web services:

  • Lodge (FVSU) – this is the service you use to update your fund's unique superannuation identifier (USI) details. That is, the rollover and contribution details of your fund's products.
  • Get (FVSG) – enables funds, intermediaries and employers to get details of a super product. This includes bank details, electronic service address and contact details.
  • List (FVSL) – enables funds, intermediaries and employers to get a list of product names and USIs.

The FVS is accessed through the Standard Business Reporting (SBR) framework. You may need to build FVS-enabled software or purchase it from a digital service provider (DSP).

Mandatory use of the FVS

Use of the FVS is mandatory for APRA-regulated funds and retirement savings account (RSA) providers. The FVS user guide explains how to use it and the FVS terms and conditions details who can access the service and their responsibilities.

Exempt public sector super schemes may choose to be listed on the register.

Updates to the FVS are only accepted through the FVSU (lodge) web service. Any super provider not able to access the FVSU web service must have alternate arrangements in place with a third-party provider.

To support the voluntary adoption of the standard by a life insurance company, we may publish details of annuity products in the register.

Self-managed super funds (SMSFs) are not included in the FVS. Payments to SMSFs will continue to be made at the fund level.

Unique superannuation identifier

A USI is used to identify super funds and individual super fund products for electronic rollovers and contributions. A super fund may have one USI or it may have a USI for each product. The USI allows monies to be paid to funds at the product or sub-fund level instead of fund level.

A fund is not limited by the regulations regarding the number of USIs it can nominate per registrable super entity. However, there are practical consequences flowing from a large number of USIs, including:

  • the extra administrative burden of maintaining the associated fund details
  • the potential to make it harder (rather than easier) for employers and funds to deal with you electronically.

You should consider minimising the number of USIs, bank accounts and service addresses a sender has to deal with. Wherever possible, it makes good business sense to shield external parties from the internal complexity of your systems, reducing the likelihood of allocation errors.

You can use a product's super product identification number (SPIN) as a USI.

Electronic service address

The regulations state that a trustee must provide one electronic service address for each USI of an entity, which will be a gateway intermediary service as its end-point. A second electronic service address may be provided for a USI if a fund chooses a different gateway intermediary for contributions and rollovers. In this instance, we will treat the contributions address as the primary service address and the rollover address as the secondary service address.

We have approved the use of a uniform resource locator (URL) as one kind of digital address for the receiving electronic communications.

Primary and secondary data

In the register, data to be used for contributions is recorded as primary data. Data to be used for rollovers is recorded as secondary data.

Only some data fields will have primary and secondary fields. Where a fund only provides primary data, this will by default be used for secondary (rollover) messages and payments.

Correcting errors

The fund trustee has the legal responsibility to correct errors.

If you discover a significant error in the register and this error is likely to cause rollovers or contributions to fail or be misdirected, you should immediately re-lodge an update to the USI record via the web service. The register will then be corrected.

When there is an error in critical information, such as effective dates, financial institution account details or service addresses, you should also advise us by emailing [email protected] .

For critical issues relating to fund details in the Fund Details Register, visit the software developers site External Link for more information.

Security and fraud risks

We've identified two main threats:

  • A threat agent (internal staff or external collaborator) could attempt to create false USIs on your behalf or change the bank account or service address details of authentic USIs.
  • A threat agent (internal staff, external collaborator and/or hacker) could try to change, steal or otherwise compromise the bank account details and other identifiers of funds by accessing your systems or intercepting your communications or download sessions with us.

You should consider how to mitigate risks to your systems. At a minimum, ensure you follow the lodgment and verification processes and security guidelines in the Fund Validation Service user guide .

You are responsible for applying appropriate fraud prevention and security controls within your environment. We have in place a comprehensive set of security and fraud controls to mitigate the risks associated with managing the register and associated interactions with you on data collection and dissemination.

Appointing another entity to access FVS updates

To appoint another entity to access FVS updates on your behalf:

  • The principal authority or authorisation administrator for the fund logs into Access Manager .
  • Select who has access to my business from the left menu.
  • You'll see a list of businesses already authorised for at least one activity. Check if the business you're seeking to appoint already has a current business appointment from your fund. If so, you don't need to take any further action.

If the business does not appear:

  • Click appoint new business.
  • Enter the ABN of the business you want to appoint.
  • Select continue.
  • Under the Business Details heading you'll see a list of online functionality. Select Lodge super product details.
  • Save the record. You have now granted the other entity the authority to update the FVS register on your behalf.

If authorisation of an agent is withdrawn, you should remove the business appointment using Access Manager.

Cancelling or changing your insurance cover

Subject to your policy terms and conditions, if you would like to make changes to your insurance cover including increasing, reducing or cancelling cover, please call us on 1800 892 353 for assistance and further instructions. Alternatively, contact your financial adviser.

Consequences of cancelling or changing your insurance cover

Cancellation of your insurance cover means:

  • you won’t be able to make a claim for insurance benefits for events or conditions that arise from the date of cancellation; and
  • insurance fees will no longer be deducted from your account.

If you’re replacing the insurance cover with alternate insurance cover, it’s recommended you wait for the replacement cover to be in place before cancelling your existing insurance cover.

If you have cancelled or reduced your cover and you wish to obtain insurance cover again or increase your cover, you’ll need to make an insurance application. As your application will be subject to health assessment and acceptance by the Insurer, you may not be able to obtain insurance cover, or your cover may be subject to terms and conditions applied by the Insurer.

We recommend speaking to a financial adviser before making any decision regarding your insurance cover.

Intention of providing insurance cover

We provide you with peace of mind with a range of insurance cover options. Insurance cover varies for each product, for details, including definitions and how these will be applied in practice, check the insurer’s Product Disclosure Statement.

Death cover helps protect the financial future of your loved ones in case of your death. It may also be payable if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Total and Permanent Disability cover provides support should you suffer a lifelong disability due to illness or injury that prevents you from working.

Income Protection cover provides financial support in an event of temporary setback due to an illness or injury that prevents you from working.

To find out what insurance cover you have, contact us.

Benefits and cost of insurance in super

Holding insurance through super can provide peace of mind, knowing that should the unexpected happen, you can continue to look after the ones you love, even if you aren’t around. There are different types of insurance cover available, depending on your superannuation product, such as Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disability cover and Death cover. It’s important to research and choose the superannuation product and insurance cover that best suits you and your circumstances.

As insurance fees are deducted from your superannuation account, they are generally tax effective and don’t impact your take home pay. However, it’s important to remember that insurance fees are deducted from your superannuation account. This means less money available to invest, and over the long term, less for your retirement, unless you contribute extra to cover the cost of the insurance fees deducted from your account.

As life changes, your insurance needs may change too. It’s important to review your cover regularly to make sure it continues to be right for you and insurance fees aren’t unnecessarily reducing your super balance.

Further information on insurance inside super is available through the Australian Government’s MoneySmart website .

Oasis Master Trust Superannuation Fund Details

What is Oasis Master Trust's USI number? OAM0001AU

Need help completing your Super Choice Form?

voyage super fund usi

USI number is short for Unique Superannuation Identifier number . It was introduced as part of the SuperStream system, which came into effect in July 2014. The SuperStream system was introduced as a result of the Australian Federal Governments 'Stronger Super' reforms. The Stronger Super review was conducted between 2007 & 2013 and focused on the operation of Australia's superannuation scheme, it's structure and it's efficiency. SMSF funds are not issued a USI number, instead they use their ABN number as an identifier.

The ABN number of Oasis Superannuation Master Trust is 81 154 851 339

ABN stands for Australian Business Number. All business entities in Australia are required to register with the Australian governent in order to receive an ABN. Once registered, a unique abn is generated for the business and used as a unique identity for taxation and government reporting responsibilities. The Australian government provides a service to look up abn details . It can be used to determine abn, business name, address and status details.

All invoices must bear an ABN number to be considered a valid invoice in Australia. There can be penalties associated with generating & sending invoices that do not have an ABN present.

ABR is the Australian Business Registry service provided by the Australan government. They provide some fantastic tools for managing your business & reporting necessary details to the government. Through the ABR portal you can lookup your ABN & the details associated with other ABN's (one you've found on an invoice, for example).

Getting an ABN is free and easy, you can even do it online. Simply visit the ABR website, check that you're eligible, fill in a few details about your business and your ABN will be delivered by mail within a few days.

Not every business is eligible for an ABN (but 99% are). You need to be running (or about to start) a business within Australia (obviously). Employees are not applicable for an ABN, you would need to be a self contractor of some nature (the business would generally request an ABN from you, if it's applicable). You business activity needs to serious, not a hobby. If you're just kicking around a side project and don't intend to write invoices or make any money, don't bother with an ABN. Finally, taxation (GST). This only becomes necessary when you're turning over $75,000 or more within the business. This gives many businesses some leeway when it comes to GST, until their business starts to grow.

The RSE number, otherwise referred to as a Registerable Superannuation Entity Number, are issued to a superannuation to denote they're registered with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). RSE's are issued in accordance with section 56 of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Act 1998 and Part 11A of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Amendment Regulations 2004 (No. 3) 2004 No. 113. Only a regulated superannuation fund or an approved deposit fund or a pooled superannuation trust is applicable for an RSE, a self managed super fund (SMSF) is not eligible. Provisions for the registration of RSEs is provided under Part 2B of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (the SIS Act). You can verify the RSE by looking up the fund ABN on the APRA website .

Oasis Fund Management (fund provider) details

ABN number is short for Australian Business Number . An ABN is an 11 digit number which uniquely identifies a business entity. It it used by the community to provide a unique point of reference for a business. The ABN is also used by government for a number of tax & business reporting purposes.
