Founded in 1958, our special brand of cultural travel has been enjoyed by travellers for over 60 years. All of our departures are carefully planned in conjunction with expert lecturers and guides, whose experiences and personal connections make every tour unique.

You’ll always receive a warm welcome on an ACE tour from our specialists, who host groups throughout our trips and share their passion for their subjects.

Our experts include archaeologists, musicians, curators, conservationists, journalists, broadcasters, and many more. Their expertise and local knowledge enable us to offer special access visits, from exclusive recitals to tours of private houses and gardens. No prior knowledge is needed, just an interest in the subject.

In 2022 we look forward to returning to several favourite destinations, including a river cruise along the Douro in Portugal and an exploration of the beautiful landscapes of the Orkney Islands.

ACE Cultural Tours (including ACE Cultural Cruises) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the ACE Foundation.

Founded in 1958, ACE is by far the oldest and most experienced provider of study tours and cultural travel in the United Kingdom, runnning tours, cruises and courses in the British Isles, Europe and across the globe.

In 2015 we celebrate our 58th season offering residential courses and study tours at home and abroad. All our tours combine three essential elements: exciting destinations,interesting subjects and stimulating leaders.

Each of our tours is led by an experienced course director: from one of the BBC's most distinguished music commentators to one of the few Europeans granted permission to guide in the Hermitage; from a geo-physicist with the British Antarctic Survey to the head of Special Collections at the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Although experts lead our tours, participants need no previous qualifications or experience to enjoy an ACE course; all that is required is a curiosity in the subject concerned. Most groups have between 15 and 25 participants.

ACE tours within the UK explore all four points of the compass, and many places in between. The singular maritime microclimate of the tranquil Isles of Scilly endow this Atlantic haven with great botanical and ornithological interest, whilst Norfolk is home to one of the most impressive seal colonies in England at Blakeney Point. Inverness is our base for discovering the enigmatic Northern Picts, and we view architecture covering over 2000 years of history in Chichester and the South Downs. Meanwhile, we explore the fine organs of Oxford, Cambridge and Edinburgh; the country houses of Derbyshire, Shropshire and Dorset; and the art museums of Liverpool, Glasgow and St Ives, amongst many other destinations.
