Update (April 2, 2024): The final WEEKENDS WITH ADELE shows begin on January 19, 2024, and end on November 23, 2024. See the latest schedule below.

The final shows for Adele ’s Weekends with Adele residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas have been announced!

Adele is asking fans to register for the Weekends with Adele sale to:

  • Help block bots and scalpers
  • Get more tickets to real people who want to attend the show
  • Reduce resale (only 5-10% of tickets using registration are resold vs 20-30% of others)

Registration does not guarantee access to the sale, or to tickets. We expect there will be high demand for these added shows, meaning that only a limited number of fans will be randomly selected to get access to the sale based on ticket availability. Every fan who successfully registers will have a chance to be selected.

How do I register?

It’s simple: visit the registration page , sign in and choose your show(s).

Registration will be open at registration.ticketmaster.com/adele until Monday, October 23 at 10 p.m. PT.

Wednesday, October 25: You’ll get a second email in the evening telling you if you were selected to get access to the sale or waitlisted.

  • If you’re selected, you’ll get a text with your unique access code to use for the sale.
  • If waitlisted, you might still have a shot later if any tickets remain.

When are the event dates?

2024: January: 19, 20, 26, 27 February: 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 March: 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 May: 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 June: 1, 7, 8, 14, 15 October: 25, 26 November: 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23

How do I register for the Weekends with Adele sale?

Will i be more likely to get access to the sale if i register early.

No. It’s not a race. The selection process is random, and fans can register any time for a chance to access the sale.

How many shows can I register for?

You may register for up to four (4) shows. When doing so, please be sure to rank your show preferences in order from highest to lowest. If randomly selected, you’ll be invited to purchase for one (1) of the events you’ve ranked.

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, October 26. All shows will be assigned specific on sale windows, which will be communicated prior to the start of the sale. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I access the ticket sale once I get a code?

Use the link in your email to join the waiting room up to 15 minutes prior to the start of your sale. When the sale opens you’ll automatically be placed in the queue and when it’s your turn to shop you’ll hear an alert and then be asked to enter your unique access code.

Please note, ONLY fans who were selected to receive a code will be able to join the waiting room and queue. Once in the sale, tickets are first-come, first-served.

When should I expect my access code?

If you are selected to join the sale, you’ll get a text with your unique code and a sale link the evening before your sale begins.

Can I transfer my code to someone else?

No, codes are unique to the account they’re issued to and won’t work if shared.

Tickets have gone on sale, I registered and never received my code?

Registering does not guarantee you will receive a unique access code. You should have received a confirmation email on the day you registered and a second email on Wednesday, October 25 telling you if you were selected to get a code or waitlisted.

Why didn’t my code work?

You may have maxed out your four (4) ticket per account limit. Due to demand, all events have a ticket limit to allow more fans like you to get tickets.

What happens if I’m waitlisted?

If tickets remain after the initial sale you may get another shot. In that case, you’ll receive an email or text with additional details.

Why is the artist choosing to use registration?

Registration helps block bots and scalpers from the sale and gives everyone who successfully registers a shot at getting access.

Adele adds final dates for Las Vegas residency — how to get tickets

Adele is not leaving Las Vegas anytime soon.

The Grammy-winning singer shared on Instagram Oct. 20 that she has extended her Sin City residency, called Weekends With Adele, for 32 more dates that run into June 2024 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

"So let’s go one last time before I turn into a showgirl forever!" she wrote as part of her announcement on Instagram.

The new dates begin on Jan. 19, 2024, and end on June 15. Registration is open now until Oct. 23 at 10 p.m. PT on Ticketmaster.com. Some fans who register will be randomly selected to receive a code that allows them to buy tickets on Oct. 26 while others will be put on a waiting list.

"This residency, these shows have changed my life," Adele wrote, captioning the sweet Instagram video that highlighted some of her Vegas residency. "I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have. I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me, and I have! Being on stage over the last year so up close and personal with an audience again after all these years has been a truly extraordinary restorative experience that I’ll never forget."

This is the second time Adele has extended her Las Vegas residency. On March 26, the singer shared on Instagram that she had added 34 new dates, beginning June 16, 2023 and ending on Nov. 4, 2023.

Adele's residency, which has received "overwhelming" attention, according to a press release, debuted in November 2022.

How to get tickets for Adele's show

The first step in getting tickets to Adele's Las Vegas residency is to register with TicketMaster for presale tickets. As part of the registration process, you'll submit a form which indicates which show dates you'll want to attend.

What happens after I register for Adele's concert?

After submitting the form, you'll get an email within 24 hours confirming your registration.

On Oct. 25, you'll get a second email letting you know if you were one of the fans randomly selected to get access to the sale or whether you got waitlisted. If you did get randomly selected, you will receive an access code to use for the sale of the ticket on Oct. 26.

If you get waitlisted, you will have to see if there are any tickets remaining for the date or dates you want after the initial sale. You are allowed to register for up to four shows, but if randomly selected, you can only purchase one show date.

When can I actually buy Adele tickets?

Fans who are randomly selected to buy tickets can do so beginning on Oct. 26. Only fans who received a unique code will be eligible to purchase tickets for performances on a first-come, first-served basis.

Adele

Fans will get a few more weekends with Adele in Las Vegas.

On Sunday, the Grammy-winning artist officially announced new dates as part of her residency run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The new run of Weekend With Adele shows will feature 34 performances that officially begin June 16 and end Nov. 4.

“Playing to 4,000 people for 34 dates is not enough, and I know that,” Adele told the audience . “So I am coming back for a few weeks in June and I’m going to release it to make sure anyone who wants to see this show can see it.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to reps for the singer.

The residency has seen much success since it began following a delayed arrival. The “Hello” singer ultimately kicked off the residency last November, nearly 10 months after she initially planned. After being announced in late 2021 , the performances were initially slated to run between Jan. 21 and April 16 of 2022. But the event was postponed only a day before it was supposed to start, with the singer telling fans that her show wasn’t ready .

“We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID,” she said at the time. “Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID, they still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show. And I can’t give you what I have right now and I’m gutted. I’m gutted and I’m sorry it’s so last minute.”

Last August, following the reveal of her new residency dates , Adele also expressed that working through the shows’ delays were a “devastating” time , but that creatively, it wasn’t up to her standards. “There was just no soul in it. The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment,” she said.

“I should be giving you a standing ovation, thank you so much for coming back to me. You look amazing, and it looks just like what I imagined it would look like. Just perfect. Thank you,” she said. “I don’t get to go off stage for about 50 minutes so I’m going to have a shitty face of streamed makeup for the whole first part of the show.”

Recent tour reviews

Having seen Adele previously at the Hammersmith Apollo a few years ago we really wanted to get tickets again, my wife tried for many hours to get tickets for her last tour and when this 4 night tour went on sale she tried again we were successful getting tickets for the Wednesday night, the only problem was she had no choice but to buy the drinking package at £249 each but because we wanted to see her we had no choice but to buy them. We had had an email form Songkick advising us to arrive early for security check which was understandable in the light of recent events, the line to enter was building up when we arrived at 4.30 pm, everyone was waiting for the 5pm opening, 5pm passed and everyone were patient but they did not start letting people in until around 5.20 pm. Eventually we were let in to the Bobby Moore suite to start the evening with a drink, the food choice for the suite was very limited, sushi, salad or hot dog (which were not hot at all), we enjoyed a few glasses of wine before we entered the stadium. Once we got to our seats for the start of the show is when we realised that if we wanted to see anything we should have taken binoculars even though we were only on the second tier to be honest Adele was a dot on the stage. Adele performance was amazing and once again she meet our every expectations she has an brilliant voice and is so down to earth. Paying that kind of money to see her show was worth it just to experience her voice and music, but paying that kind of money for the entry to the Bobbie Moore suite (which was just a function room) was really over priced. We had a fantastic time listening to Adele but the before part was a total waste of money.

It is hard to know what to say that hasn't already been said, the list of superlatives has been done and each one is accurate. Adele may be nervous performing live, and there are times where that shows through, but somehow the fact that, arguably, the worlds finest singer shows a vulnerability adds to the performance especially when combined with her self deprecating honesty.

The attention to detail is clear, the fact that she thanks the guy who delivers 'hot honey' by name, thanks the guys who surround the stage during Skyfall and says 'see you all Saturday' shows that she is no Prima Donna artiste, Somehow through a meteoric rise, through all the fame and fortune she still retains that ordinary north London girl wanting to entertain her audience and entertain she does, in spades!

The T Shirts personally signed fired into the crowd, the note left on the back of someone's seat all these acts of kindness make someone's night unforgettable.

However, all of the humour, beautiful touches and adept performance are totally dominated by that voice, that wonderful, utterly unmistakable, beautiful voice which towered over Wembley Stadium and owned the evening. The songs are expertly crafted works of art in their own right and I love them all but if she sang the phone book I would pay to listen.

The highlights for me are predictable, Hello, Skyfall, Feel my Love, Set Fire to the Rain and Someone Like You, all of which were belted out by 100,000 people, these are the spine tingling moments you experience rarely in life. The one song I would still love to hear live is River Lea, lyrically brilliant and one of my all time favourite songs.

If you have never seen Adele perform live you really do need to and this may be your last chance, although I cannot tell you how much I hope it is not!

Our family of 4 daughters, my husband and myself saw Adele on 10/03/17, her first Sydney show. We have loved Adele since we listened to her first album in 2010. As soon as we heard she was coming we knew we had to be there. Even though we were seated very far away from the stage Adele made everyone of the 950000 crowd feel like we were all much closer.

Every moment was fantastic, Adele's phenomenal voice, the amazing video footage of Adele's eyes opening as the show started to the final song of Someone Like You, where the sound of the huge crowd singing in unison with Adele was unlike anything I have ever heard. The circular stage setup was amazing, giving everyone access to seeing Adele. Adele walked the circle giving every part of the stadium a chance to see her. The video footage that played with the songs was beautiful and ensured you kept your eyes on the stage.

The set list was a wonderful collection of Adele's 3 albums. Her interaction with the audience was funny, sincere and she really made us feel like we were right there with her.

I think when you see your daughters crying with the emotion of getting to see Adele live and then more crying because it was even better than you could of dreamed, speaks volumes. I would see her again in a heartbeat if I could and would say to anyone if you can go then do it!

Adele at Las Vegas residency

We’ll never know what Adele ’s Las Vegas residency looked like back in January when she tearfully canceled the shows on the eve of opening night. But after Friday’s (Nov. 18) first performance of Weekends With Adele at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace, we know exactly what it looks like now: utterly and breathlessly spectacular.

The beloved British singer/songwriter addressed the cancellation toward the end of the two-hour-plus concert, calling it “the worst feeling I’ve ever had but the best decision I’ve ever made.” It’s hard to argue with her after seeing all the massive technical flourishes and tiny thoughtful touches that color the 20-song set. It’s clear that Adele lovingly dedicated the past 10 months to creating the intimate show of her dreams, and the lucky 4,000-plus fans who got to be in the room returned the love tenfold, reducing the singer to tears more than once throughout the poignant night.

“I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience or any disappointment that I caused,” she told the crowd. “But we’re here tonight, together.”

Of course, the show wasn’t all waterworks – this is Vegas, after all, and this is Adele, whose concerts frequently double as a stand-up comedy routine, with her trademark cockney one-liners and between-song banter. She also wielded a T-shirt gun to launch merch, a handwritten note and a $50 bill for cocktails to four fans, seamlessly working in a Rambo reference between her heart-achingly personal breakup ballads. And the audience got out of their seats on more than one occasion too, with Adele reminding the crowd ahead of “Water Under the Bridge”: “I don’t have many uptempos, so if you want to dance, now’s the time.”

But the true centerpiece of any Adele performance is her inimitable voice, and on Friday, her powerful and nimble vocals sounded up to the challenge of carrying two shows a weekend into the new year and beyond — and when she needs a break, her fans are always more than happy to sing every word.

As she kicks off five months of shows in Sin City, come inside the room with Billboard for the seven best moments of Weekends With Adele’s opening night.

Hello to Those 180-Degree Screens

As Adele told Oprah in their One Night Only sit-down late last year, she’ll likely “always” have to start a concert with “Hello” from now on (“it would be a bit weird if it was halfway through a set”). She doesn’t change course here, but what is surprising is when the audience’s eyes go from the stage’s simple initial setup of just a piano and Adele framed by an A-shaped opening to realizing that half the perimeter of the Colosseum – basically from one balcony to the other above the stage – are actually floor-to-ceiling video screens. The reveal comes just as the 10-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit’s bombastic chorus kicks in. Hello, indeed.

The dynamic screens are used to striking effect throughout the set, from seemingly immersing a wall of string players in the watery opening-credit sequence of Skyfall as Adele belts the Oscar-winning theme song to the 2012 James Bond film, to putting you right in the bustling, neon-lit streets of London for “Hometown Glory,” to projecting a live shot of the opening-night concertgoers themselves across the screen for “Someone Like You.”

It's a Big Week for Adele for a Lot of Reasons

You can always count on Adele’s endearing stream-of-consciousness chitchat between songs, and the best example came early in the night when the pop star reflected on what a big week it was for her – but you might be surprised by one of the reasons. “I’ve got a lot to tell you. It’s a bloody massive week for me, this week,” she began, unexpectedly shifting to the end of a TV era. “It’s the Walking Dead finale on Sunday! Do we have any Walking Dead fans here?” After she got a pretty healthy dose of screams from the crowd, she was a bit surprised. “Oh! I thought this was going to be a stiffer crowd than that. I’ve been obsessed with The Walking Dead for like over a decade, and on Sunday it’s all coming to an end. And obviously it’s opening night, and it was the Grammys [nominations], and it’s the World Cup – f—ing hell, there’s a lot going on!” Oh right: Adele scored seven 2023 Grammy nominations on Tuesday – including a trio of Big Four nods – and a global soccer tournament kicks off on Sunday.

A Sweet Seat Upgrade

Adele revealed that she spent part of her production rehearsals checking out the audience’s perspective, and she was horrified by the view from two particular seats on either side of the highest balcony. “I couldn’t believe, there was lit’rally a wall next to your face,” she said, holding her hand inches from her cheek. “And I was like, ‘ Naur .’” So she did something about it, gifting one of the fans in those seats (sorry to the other side; Adele says that seat will be upgraded at Saturday’s show) with a pair of floor seats right next to the stage. “I’m sorry if you’re a group of more than two and someone’s been left out,” she said. “I hope you’re still friends afterwards.”

Adele Literally Sets Fire to the Rain – And a Piano

Adele in Las Vegas

One of the most jaw-dropping visuals of the night came during another of Adele’s Hot 100 chart-toppers: “Set Fire to the Rain.” It was impressive enough when a torrent of raindrops poured down in front of the full band (sparing Adele’s perfectly coifed hair, thankfully), but then a fire started burning under a white piano before spreading across the entire stage, eventually engulfing the piano. We could feel the heat of the wild flames from the crowd, so we can only imagine what it feels like for the performers with a front-row seat to the fiery spectacle.

Adele’s Nostalgic Trip Through the Crowd

Adele in Las Vegas

Adele took the opportunity ahead of performing her nostalgic ballad “When We Were Young” to take a trip down memory lane with the audience, bringing a mic out into the crowd to ask people their favorite childhood memories. The best answer was from 12-year-old Blake, who sweetly said his favorite memory when he was young was “well, kinda right here, right now.” Adele continued to saunter through the crowd while performing the 25 single, pausing to hug a drag performer dressed like her and to kiss her sports-agent boyfriend Rich Paul. As she made her way back to the stage, confetti with Polaroid photos of the singer at different stages in her life rained on the crowd.

Not One, Not Two, But Three Confetti Moments

That wasn’t the only time confetti fell from the Colosseum ceiling. In addition to “When We Were Young,” the final two songs each got their own confetti moment too, starting with the high-energy ending of yet another Hot 100 No. 1, “Rolling in the Deep.” The energy was so high, in fact, that the crowd seemed surprised when Adele launched into yet another song, playing 30 ’s “Love Is a Game” as the finale. She clearly wanted to drive home the message of love to wrap up the night, as rainbow-colored confetti shaped like hearts fell from the sky. One of the hearts that Billboard spotted on the way out of the theater was appropriately printed with the message: “Better late than never!”

Adele’s Charming Mix of Nerves & Gratitude

“I have no idea what I’m embarking on for five months, but I can’t f—ing wait,” Adele said early in the night. “So thank you for being my first night.” She referenced her nerves a few times over the two hours (“I am so scared and I am so nervous but I’m so happy” and “I’m talking this much because I’m so nervous; I’m sh–ting myself”), while she also marveled at her dreams finally becoming a reality (“Is this a daydream or is this real?” and “It looks just like what I imagined it would look like”). It was remarkable to see a performer at her level be so present and take in all she had accomplished in arriving at this moment.

Adele Las Vegas Residency Dates 2024: Where to Find Cheap Tickets to Her Upcoming Shows

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

Following a record-breaking run in 2023, Adele announced she would extend her Las Vegas residency once again, with a string of new dates, now running through November 2024. The extended run includes rescheduled dates for postponed concerts from March.

While Ticketmaster became the official ticket provider for the “Weekends with Adele” residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, most of the shows have already sold-out on Ticketmaster.com . Fortunately, we’ve spotted decent seats and prices for Adele tickets online on sites like Vivid Seats and StubHub .

Adele kicked off the previous leg of her Las Vegas residency on June 16, 2023. Previously scheduled to wrap up in November 2023, the final leg of Weekends With Adele will now run through Nov. 23, 2024.

“Playing to 4,000 people for 34 nights is not enough, and I know that,” Adele told fans in Vegas during her initial run last year. “So I am coming back. I’ll be back for a few weeks in June, and I’m gonna film it, and I’m gonna release it to make sure that anyone who wants to see this show can see it.” For now, fans will have to go see the show in Vegas to hear Adele perform, as any further film release details have yet to be announced.

Want to find tickets online to see Adele’s Vegas concert for the remaining dates? Here’s what you need to know.

When Do New Adele Tickets Go On Sale for 2024?

Initial tickets to Adele’s new residency dates for 2024 went on sale in October through Ticketmaster . Similar to previous legs of her residency, tickets sold out immediately and the general on-sale was canceled. Fortunately, official tickets are still available for the 2024 dates on Vivid Seats and StubHub , among other certified resale sites.

How to Get Tickets to the Adele Shows in Vegas

While Ticketmaster is where Adele tickets were first made available, we’ve found Adele tickets available on reseller sites like StubHub , SeatGeek , and Vivid Seats . Bonus: New customers can use our exclusive Rolling Stone  promo code  RS2024 at checkout to get $20 off orders of $200+ on VividSeats.com .

SeatGeek , meantime, offers $10 off eligible orders of $250+ with the promo code ROLLINGSTONE10 at checkout (valid on first purchases only).

All of these sites offer authentic, verified tickets (I.e., no illegal scalpers here) and you can either find Adele tickets online by price range, or by searching for seats on a seat map. We’ve seen seats start in the $430 range for upcoming shows, which is the cheapest pricing online for Adele tickets. Tickets are delivered digitally (over email) and the sites all offer a buyer’s guarantee verifying that you are purchasing legitimate Adele tickets online.

“This residency, these shows have changed my life,” Adele wrote in a caption on Instagram in October. “I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have. I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me, and I have! Being on stage over the last year so up close and personal with an audience again after all these years has been a truly extraordinary restorative experience that I’ll never forget. All the hilarious, soulful, wild and heartbreaking interactions we’ve had are banked in my mind for life. The looks on your faces, seeing you laugh and cry together singing your hearts out and hoarding bags of confetti. All the simi dolls, friendship bracelets, flowers, facetime calls and flags. It’s crazy how joyful a show full of sad songs can be!! I’ve felt so much and learned so much about myself and you. It’s humanized everything I thought was scary. Mostly though – it’s just made me realize how much I really enjoy being on stage, that I’m bloody good at it and that it is 100% where I belong!”

Adele continued: “So let’s go one last time before I turn into a showgirl forever! Love you and I’ll see you on the otherside soon x.”

Adele Vegas Residency: What to Expect & How It Sounds

Adele has never sounded better, and the Weekends With residency proves it. Fans who’ve waited months or years to see Adele in Vegas should expect an intimate performance, complete with immersive sound designed by audio brand L-Acoustics — you’ve heard its sound systems at venues like the Hollywood Bowl — specifically fine-tuned for every moment of the show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

That means no matter where you’re sitting in the audience, you’ll feel like you’re part of the action, from Adele ‘s opening ballads to the most explosive moments (think: thunder crashes, an expansive live-band reveal, and literal pianos on fire while rain pours down from the sky — can you guess the song?). In other words: It’s subtle, but what you see is what you hear, and there’s hardly a bad seat in the house from a sound perspective.

“A big focus on the sound design for this show was — while we certainly introduce moments of hyper-realism — we wanted to enforce a strong underlying sense of audio-visual connection,” Adele ‘s production system engineer Johnny Keirle told Rolling Stone in an interview on using L-Acoustics’ immersive sound tech known as L-ISA for the residency. “For example, hearing a guitar coming from where our eyes tell us the  guitar should come from.”

Continued Keirle, “With the show design emphasizing a show that visually grows in size, we have been able to complement the show’s visual with an audio soundscape that grows and builds in a similar way. While this is done to match the overall visual ebb-and-flow of the show, we can also do this throughout the course of a song, adding an extra dimension to the overall experience.”

Adele Vegas Residency Set List

When Is the Adele Residency in Las Vegas?

The “Weekends With Adele” residency started in November 2022 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace (home to residencies in the past from the likes of Mariah Carey and Celine Dion). The singer performed two shows each weekend through March 25, 2022. The second run kicked off on June 16 and was scheduled to wrap on Nov. 4, 2023, according to Adele’s website . On Oct. 20, 2023, Adele announced 32 new dates as the final leg of her residency, which started Jan. 19 and was set to end on June 15, 2024.

But on Feb. 27, 2024, Adele posted that she would need to postpone her upcoming Weekends With Adele shows for March.

I love you, I’ll miss you like mad and I’m sorry for the inconvenience x pic.twitter.com/zO3k2ggMKR — Adele (@Adele) February 28, 2024

“Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency,” Adele posted in a statement on X , formerly Twitter, on Tuesday. “I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break. I hadn’t quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I’m sick again, and unfortunately it’s all taken a toll on my voice.”

Adele continued, “And so on doctor’s orders I have no choice but to rest thoroughly. The remaining five weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date. We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information asap.”

Adele announced the rescheduled dates on April 2, which includes 10 new concerts that kick off Oct. 25 and 26, respectively. “Ticket holders for the postponed dates will be sent an email regarding their new allocated date,” Adele’s statement on social read.

Phish fans are famously dedicated. What happens when they enter the Sphere?

L AS VEGAS (AP) — Adele, Mariah Carey and Garth Brooks tower over the Las Vegas Strip, peering out from billboards advertising their various casino residencies. But the 20,000 fans marching toward the glowing Sphere last week were there for a band that many Strip visitors have no idea exists.

Over the past 40 years, legions of dedicated Phish fans have followed the Vermont jam band no matter where it goes. This time, it happened to be Las Vegas, for four nights at the $2.3 billion immersive arena. No two Phish shows are the same, and while the band had played Vegas 26 times before, the Sphere offered a game-changing canvas for its signature light shows.

The fans came in sequined, glittery dresses and tie-dye alike, in button-down shirts and overalls printed with the band's red doughnut logo. Once inside, they were greeted with a LED screen the size of a football field.

Over 68 songs over the four nights, co-creative director Abigail Rosen Holmes would use that expanse to drive fans across bold visual worlds inspired by the four states of matter: solid, liquid, gas and plasma. As Phish jammed, the Sphere's screens became an art show, taking the audience through flowing streams of color and simple dots of light, around an enchanted lake and a field of psychedelic trees, and through a car wash (yes, a car wash).

“It gives me hope,” said Sean Marmora, 31, who traveled from New Jersey. “It’s inspiring that they’re pushing boundaries and doing things that they have never done before.”

Some displays were more abstract — during “Sand” and “Chalkdust Torture,” specks of light danced on screen in time to the music — while others were easier to discern: “Bathtub Gin” featured computer-generated people on floats made of donuts, pineapples and pizza slices in a wave pool. During “Maze,” a narrow line of video blew up into bits across the screen. For “Leaves,” hundreds of digital balloons joined the very real balloons flying up inside the Sphere.

“It was a very different Phish show, so special in its own right,” said Tim Urbashich, 38, from Wisconsin. “This is a whole evolutionary experience in what’s happening. They deserve visual representation of their music.”

Phish's light shows are typically driven by Chris Kuroda, whom fans have nicknamed CK5 — as in, the fifth member of the band.

Kuroda was still heavily involved in the shows at the Sphere, albeit with a stripped-down light setup offsetting the screen. Phish frontman Trey Anastasio said Kuroda played a key role in fighting against the “tyranny of the wall” of visuals.

On Saturday night, the screen lit a digital version of the band ablaze during “Fuego,” eventually subsiding into a calm blue. As the real band jumped into “Golden Age,” Kuroda lit them in his signature soft purple and yellow spotlights.

Holmes says the production team learned to be looser over the course of the Vegas run, refining and adopting subtle changes to make the visuals more responsive to the music.

“This is such a new and different environment, where we started trying to make everything perfect. And then being more comfortable, taking chances and pushing things a bit further,” Holmes said. “I think Chris Kuroda and I were able to reach further and mesh better as the nights went on.”

As much as the Sphere shows will be remembered for the visuals, though, it’s the music that ultimately makes Phish.

No song was repeated, and the band took advantage of the ability to isolate sounds across the room’s 167,000 speaker drivers. Anastasio says he was proud the band could still go in without a plan. Most large visual concert experiences include a click track to know when to hit certain marks. Phish insisted on being able to improvise.

“I felt like if we didn’t have that element, it wouldn’t be a Phish concert,” Anastasio said.

At the end of Sunday night’s show, Anastasio vowed to return to the Sphere. Phish was only the second band to play it after U2 opened it with a 40-show run. Dead and Company are scheduled to play there this summer.

Meanwhile, Phish will release its 16th studio album, “Evolve,” in July, when it will also launch a summer tour.

“As long as the four of us are together and walking this planet, I would like to think that Phish exists and that we can keep playing,” McConnell said of the band's stamina and longevity.

So much of the band’s time together is spent thinking about processes and new approaches, he said.

“So we don’t exactly know where it goes and where it’s going. But I have a good feeling that it’s going to go on for a long time,” he said. “I really hope it does.”

As long as Phish keeps going, so too will its community. Both Marmora and Urbashich were among the dozens of artists selling their Phish-inspired work at the PhanArt show that pops up at the band's stops.

“We’re all trying here to find something special,” Urbashich said. “You have to open up your mind to the simplest things. It’s so out there and abstract. If you don’t give it patience you might not think it’s what you’re looking for.”

Drew Carey Says He Would 'Stick My D--- in a Blender' to See Another Phish Concert at Las Vegas Sphere

Phish performed four sold-out shows at Sphere in Las Vegas this month, and the band will release its next album in July

Slaven Vlasic/Getty; Rich Fury/Sphere Entertainment/Getty

Seeing Phish perform at Sphere in Las Vegas was life-changing for Drew Carey .

The 65-year-old comedian attended one of Phish's four sold-out concerts at the technologically-advanced Sin City venue from April 18-21, taking to X (formerly Twitter) afterward to share some explicit thoughts about just how badly he'd like to see the show again.

"I swear I just talked to God," wrote Carey on Monday, April 22 alongside a video of Phish's intricate visuals displayed on the massive screens of Sphere. "I would give you all my money, stick my d--- in a blender and swear off p---y for the rest of my life in exchange for this. Bro I met God tonight for real. I feel like I just got saved by Jesus no lie."

Rich Fury/Sphere Entertainment/Getty

A fellow attendee replied to the Price Is Right host, saying the show left him feeling "melted." Carey then responded with even more NSFW thoughts — comparing the act of watching Phish's live show to "what it must feel like" to experience sex with female genitalia.

"Because if it’s even close I’m [flying] to wherever tomorrow and getting the best p---y money can buy. I don’t need to be a man no more of it means I can feel like this all the time," wrote the TV star. "F---ing keep it bro if I can get this feeling instead."

"That was God at work or something," added Carey of the performance. "Like it felt like I was being saved by Jesus no lie."

Over the four shows at Sphere, Phish performed 68 different songs in unique setlists the jam band has become known for throughout its decades-long career. The group, comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist  Trey Anastasio , bassist  Mike Gordon , drummer  Jon Fishman and keyboardist  Page McConnell , is currently gearing up to release its 16th studio album, Evolve , on July 12.

Phish's Sphere residency was announced in November 2023, with Anastasio telling fans in a statement at the time, "From the moment we first heard about Sphere and its potential, we’ve been dreaming up ways to bring our show to this breathtaking canvas. We’re thrilled to present this completely unique experience to Phish fans."

Where to get Kylie Minogue Las Vegas tickets for her sold out residency

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Kylie Minogue's sold-out Las Vegas residency, More Than Just a Residency, comes to an end in early May. If you're hoping to attend the experience, we've put together all the details on snagging an elusive ticket to Minogue's final Vegas concerts.

Minogue has been a fixture in pop music since she first came onto the scene in the late 80s, following her spin on an Australian soap opera. Review: Phish’s Las Vegas Sphere spectacle was the opposite of rock-star self-glorification

A giant dog appears on Las Vegas' Sphere as Phish plays.

The massive LED video screen that forms the interior surface of Sphere can be used to transport audiences to the tops of mountains, to outer space, to beneath the feet of an elephant standing as tall as a 20-story building.

On Friday night, Phish turned the place into a car wash.

Playing the second date in a sold-out four-night stand at this state-of-the-art venue just off the Las Vegas Strip, the veteran jam band from Vermont took full advantage of the technological capabilities that cost the building’s mastermind, Madison Square Garden Entertainment Chief Executive James Dolan, five years and more than $2 billion to bring to life last fall.

At one point in the nearly four-hour gig, the 160,000-square-foot screen — said to be the highest-resolution in the world — became a starry night sky so crisply rendered that you could almost believe the roof had retracted; at another point, Sphere transformed into an underwater kelp forest with sunlight streaming down from the top of the dome. The venue’s sound system was just as impressive, with a finely detailed mix and seatback haptics that allowed you literally to feel the oomph of bassist Mike Gordon’s low notes.

Phish

Yet Phish’s production — the second by a band to play Sphere after U2’s opening engagement — wasn’t about excess or grandiosity; it was homey, friendly, deeply quirky. After the car-wash bit, which replicated the experience of crawling through one, a gigantic dog appeared and proceeded to lick what looked like the other side of the screen in slow motion as the band performed its song “You Enjoy Myself.”

The approach certainly differed from that of U2, whose 40-date residency launched in September and ended last month. Built around the Irish group’s 1991 album “Achtung Baby,” U2’s show riffed on big ideas about celebrity and media and the intersection of politics and capitalism; it used Sphere’s eye-popping tech to uphold the band’s distinct brand of rock-star heroism, reasserting U2’s place in a cultural lineage stretching from Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley to the Beatles to Prince.

U2 has always been an ambitious band. It met its match and then some at Las Vegas Sphere

On opening night at the $2.3-billion Sphere concert hall, the visuals projected onto the high-def walls behind and above U2 were a show unto themselves.

Sept. 30, 2023

For Phish, perhaps music’s biggest cult band, Sphere wasn’t a means of self-glorification but of community-building: One thing you thought about over the course of the band’s two sets and an encore was how tiny the players looked onstage — the same size, in other words, as any of the 18,000 or so people in the crowd. Even when the screen would show a close-up of one of the players — Gordon, singer-guitarist Trey Anastasio, keyboardist Page McConnell and drummer Jon Fishman — the image would be warped almost beyond recognition.

Jam bands, of course, have a long history of elaborate visual presentations. Ahead of Phish’s run in Vegas, fans of the band wondered online whether its lighting designer, Chris Kuroda, would have the space to do his thing properly amid Sphere’s digital overload. (The answer was kind of.) So it makes sense that Sphere might become a destination for other acts in the tradition; indeed, next up at the venue is Dead & Company , which will begin a 24-show stint in May after saying that its 2023 tour would be its last.

Phish surrounded by visuals at Sphere in Vegas.

With no fear of being overshadowed by the room, Phish leaned into Sphere’s immersive potential with an assortment of water-themed visuals: hundreds of swimmers floating in doughnut-shaped inflatables atop the waves of a rippling sea; marine life darting through the columns of a vast sunken monument; a psychedelic waterfall pouring over a cliff that seemed almost untouchably far away from wherever you were sitting in the steeply raked amphitheater. As part of a production team parked behind dozens of glowing monitors in the middle of the room, Abigail Rosen Holmes, Phish’s creative director, manipulated these images in real time, responding — sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically — to the twists and turns of the band’s improvisations.

In a funny twist, Phish’s lack of anxiety about being upstaged by what was happening on Sphere’s wraparound screen — the members themselves seem well aware that they’ve never been much to look at — meant that Friday’s show actually felt like it was about music, which was clearly the point for a band that famously never repeats a set list.

“Bathtub Gin” was jaunty and playful, with McConnell threading a bit of Gershwin’s “ Rhapsody in Blue ” into the song’s fabric; “Lonely Trip” was a lilting ballad with one of the evening’s few convincing vocal turns from Anastasio. “Split Open and Melt,” which came just before the evening’s intermission, was the highlight of the concert: a demented boogie-rock freak-out that landed somewhere between early Sonic Youth and electric-era Miles Davis.

For its encore, Phish played the plaintive “Wading in the Velvet Sea” as photos stretching back to the band’s beginnings in the mid-1980s flickered across Sphere’s screen, and for a moment the musicians seemed to be indulging in the kind of rock-god mythologizing the rest of the show resisted. Then you realized that most of the pictures depicted these guys in various humble backstage scenarios: just four lifers getting ready to go to work for their people.

Bad Bunny’s Songs of Exile

The Puerto Rican superstar is known for his anthems of community. His latest tour is about his own isolation.

A black-and-white photo of Bad Bunny standing alone onstage in a suit and backward cap

Near the end of Bad Bunny’s 2022 World’s Hottest Tour in Las Vegas, all the lights went out. The Puerto Rican singer and rapper filled the darkness before the song “ El Apagón ” with a six-minute speech in Spanish about what makes his home island bien cabrón —“really fucking awesome.” He highlighted not only Puerto Rico’s beauty but also its resilience in the face of immense challenges: corrupt governance, poor electricity and water access, a hurricane only five years after the devastation of Hurricane María . Although “it is always becoming harder for Puerto Ricans to live on the island,” he said, their strong sense of kinship saves them: “The leaders are the people, who always help one another.”

His speech soon turned into a lament twinged with guilt. “Sometimes I see comments that are like, ‘Where is Bad Bunny?’” he told the stadium. “I’m here, in Las Vegas. This is my job.” The price of fame, he went on to suggest, was a type of exile—work that he cherished but that kept him from the island and people he loved.

Community has long been central to Bad Bunny’s work. The Latin-trap superstar, who has set Spotify streaming records and repeatedly topped the Billboard 200 chart, seldom introduces himself without mentioning where he comes from (accepting the 2022 Video Music Awards Artist of the Year trophy, he declared, “I’m Benito Antonio Martínez, from Puerto Rico to the world!”). He famously resists singing or giving interviews in English. Many of his songs contribute to a long Caribbean musical tradition of rebellion against colonialism . Meanwhile, others form an archive of place; the mountains, rivers, and beaches of Puerto Rico seep into numerous perreo anthems. “This is my beach / This is my sun / This is my land / This is me,” ends the house track “El Apagón,” signaling an understanding of Caribbean people as inextricable from the islands themselves. Bad Bunny’s latest tour and album, however, mark a spiritual departure for the artist, finding him retreating inward to wrestle with cynicism and isolation at the top of the world.

The ongoing Most Wanted Tour, which began in late February, is less of a communal celebration and more of a solo rodeo. I don’t mean this only metaphorically: Midway through the Barclays Center concert I attended this month in Brooklyn, Bad Bunny appeared onstage atop a real, live horse. In the lead-up to this entrance, the stadium darkened as a three-minute video played on-screen, revealing a desert landscape of desolate sepia tones. “They tell me Jesus was in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights,” the singer growled in Spanish. “I’ve lost count of the years I’ve spent between sand and cactus.” In the video, a masked Bad Bunny, encased in a buckskin jacket, rode a slow-trotting horse into an apocalyptic sunset. “I remain like this,” Bad Bunny said. “Alone.” (At this point, my friend’s 78-year-old Puerto Rican grandmother, whom I attended the concert with, cried out in concern: “We’re here for you, baby!”)

This new lonely-cowboy persona is in line with the artist’s most recent album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , the 22-song trap opera behind this tour. In it, Bad Bunny explores what it means to be the caballo ganadór , or winning horse—at least that’s what he calls himself in the opening track, “Nadie Sabe,” an orchestral rap that samples trampling hooves. In 2022, he was, by several measures, the top artist in the world. Yet he doesn’t seem convinced that the hype is worth the stress. “Everyone wants to be No. 1,” he raps. “If you want it I’ll give it to you, motherfucker.” What fun is being No. 1 when no one can share it with you?

From the get-go, the new tour has approached listeners from a more standoffish posture. “If you’re not a real fan, don’t come,” read the official ads . Instead of energetic house warming up the audience as happened in 2022, this year’s show opened with the longing strings of a classical orchestra. (My friend’s grandmother: “They’re putting me to sleep!”) The ensemble’s rendition of Charles Aznavour’s French ballad “Hier Encore”—which Bad Bunny’s “Monaco” samples—set an early tone for the evening of nostalgia, as if happier days existed largely in the past.

Visually, the Most Wanted Tour was also decidedly placeless, leaning into minimalism and abstraction. At the World’s Hottest Tour show I attended in Las Vegas, the vibe was “beach party”: Bad Bunny appeared in an array of joyful pastels. Dancers in bikinis and denim shorts freestyled under string lights. Visuals showed cartoon dolphins swimming toward island oases. I remember feeling shocked when I left the stadium and stepped into the Mojave Desert’s hot and twisting air. The concert had felt like a portal home to the Dominican Republic, ready to rival JetBlue. I could almost feel the cool shine of the sea melting over my feet.

Yet this time around, tropical maximalism was replaced by nondescript, arid visuals and monochrome Yeezy-style fashions. The dancers, dressed in all-black hoodies or chaps, appeared sparingly. Most often, Bad Bunny was onstage by himself, hopping from one end to another while performing trap bops in burgundy cowboy gear.

For much of the performance, he also sported a Spider-Man-style mask or a studded nun’s habit (à la the Virgin Mary )—a tongue-in-cheek choice for a singer frequently criticized for his lewd lyrics. His hidden face added a layer of distance between him and the audience, seemingly signaling how much access to him we should really get to have. Bad Bunny has rebuked the parasocial aspects of fame, including people’s entitlement to his personal space. Throughout the Nadie Sabe album, he makes several references to a much-reported instance in which, during a vacation in the Dominican Republic, he threw a fan’s phone into some bushes after she photographed him without his consent.

Yet despite the lingering specter of celebrity’s dark side, the show’s final act still managed to conjure a wider sense of connection within the audience. Bad Bunny ended with a slew of his reggaeton hits, old and new, and segued into his song “Tití Me Preguntó” with a roll call of places— asking where, among other groups, his Ecuadorians, Mexicans, Dominicans, and Puerto Ricans were at. With each mention, the stadium erupted into ecstatic screams of recognition. Flags rippled; decibels flared. The rare roar of a crowd of Dominicans, all in one place in the U.S., immediately brought tears to my eyes. Once the song started, we screamed back his lyrics about bringing a roster of girlfriends to his VIP table. We in the audience were there, together. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny looped the stage, alone again.
