Mein Lieblingsband hat allen meinen Erwartungen entsprochen und sogar mehr: Ich habe mich beim Konzert so wohl gefühlt, dass fast 2 Stunden unbemerkbar vergangen waren. Die Atmosphäre war extrem erregend und warm, DakhaBrakha hat alle bekannten Lieder gesungen und das mit unvorstellbarer Energie. Das nächste Mal bin auch auf jeden Fall dabei!

Event Details

DakhaBrakha is music quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine. Reflecting fundamental elements of sound and soul, Ukrainian “ethno chaos” band DakhaBrakha creates a world of unexpected new music. DakhaBrakha was created in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art “DAKH” by the avant-garde theatre director – Vladyslav Troitskyi – and given the name that means “give/take” in the old Ukrainian language. Theatre work has left its mark on the band performances – their shows are always staged with a strong visual element. After experimenting with Ukrainian folk music, the band has added rhythms of the surrounding world into their music, thus creating the bright, unique and unforgettable sound of DakhaBrakha. They strive to help open up the potential of Ukrainian melodies and to bring it to the hearts and consciousness of the younger generation in Ukraine and the rest of the world as well.

Please note that group rates are typically offered for groups of 20 or more, but are sometimes offered for groups of 10 or more. Discounts range from 10-20% but vary from show to show (not all shows support a group rate due to high demand or other restrictions).

All other bags  including backpacks and oversized purses are  strictly prohibited  and  bag storage is NOT available  at The Pabst, The Riverside, Turner Hall Ballroom or The Back Room @ Colectivo.

Weapons, laser pens, signs, banners, electronic smoking devices (vapes, Juuls, etc.), oversized bags, backpacks, outside food and beverages including water, cans, bottles, alcohol, illegal substances, iPads/tablets, selfie sticks, laptops, professional audio recording devices (unless approved by artist), and any professional photography equipment. The use of vape pens inside the venues are prohibited as well.

About this Performance

Describing themselves as “ethno-chaos,” DakhaBrakha starts with folk music from their Ukrainian homeland and blends it with instrumental influences from India, Africa, and the Arab world. Their name reflects that trans-national pastiche, translating to “Give/Take,” and NPR called their music “fierce, exuberant, and understitched with humor.” The theatric Kyiv-based quartet is the world’s best-known ambassadors of Ukrainian music—performing everywhere from Lincoln Center to Glastonbury Festival—and they bring their message of cultural and artistic liberation to The Ford.
