Single Day Wine Country Bike Tours
Tours include TRANSPORT to and from Santa Barbara and wine country in brand new high top shuttle van, BIKE and HELMET, knowledgeable GUIDE, olive oil and two wine TASTINGS, farmer's market PICNIC LUNCH, and WATER BOTTLE .
Now TWO ways to ride: E-bike or Sport Fitness Road Bike!
Our 16-mile guided loop takes you through the vineyards, farms, and towns of the Santa Ynez Valley. The Ballard Canyon portion offers stunning views of the larger estate wineries and offers eight challenging climbs through it. Our Rad Power Bikes with electric pedal assist and throttle to flatten those hills out and increase your comfort through the ride. Varying levels of assist allow you to control how much (or little!) effort is required to experience all of the wine country's stunning views. These are the best choice for most travelers. For those who crave a challenge on their travels, we are very proud to offer Poseidon's Flatbar Gravel Road Bike fitness bikes. These dynamic, quick bikes are perfect for those who want to take on a demanding ride.
Whichever bike you choose, it is important that all riders can operate a bike safely and confidently. If you have a group with a non-rider, we are happy to bring them with the group through the tour in our van.
Our Rad Power
Electric bikes.
We tried a lot of e-bikes before selecting these for our tour. We found that their performance, value, and ease of use made them ideal for our tour. We love how they have opened up our ride (a REAL bike ride!) to a much wider group of activity levels.
If you enjoyed using our bikes, and would like to purchase, please click through us (shipping is free too!) Orders are fulfilled by Rad, but we are always happy to answer any questions and offer tips and advice along the way.
If you are in the Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez area, we can arrange for a free test ride for you.

What Guests are Saying
The routes were especially well-designed to capture the hidden magic of Santa Barbara and the neighboring Goleta, Montecito and Summerland areas, while at the same time offering a terrific blend of climbing, descending, and cruising. I told my partner that, especially during days two and three, we were able to enjoy the best of the best of Santa Barbara in a way that few people, outside of local residents, will ever have the chance to experience. And all with the expert and fun guidance of Scott and Phoebe, whether riding along with the group, driving the support van, arranging social and dining events, or just being great folks to hang with. A+!
Scott, Trek Travel Guest

Know Before You Go!
We want you to be fully prepared for your cycling vacation of a lifetime. This involves making sure that you choose the appropriate trip for you and that every aspect of your experience is flawless. Each Trek Travel trip is unique to ensure maximum enjoyment every time.
Your Trip Need to Knows:
- Road conditions: Road quality is, overall, good. Every year a new section of road is repaved but there can be some rough surfaces. To help with the severe sections of road, your bikes will have 32 cc tires for increased comfort.
- Typically, traffic is low to moderate, but weekend days can see an increase due to more tourists in the area.
- Packing: Layers! Layering is the best way to regulate your body temperature. This tried-and-true strategy is all about slipping layers on and off as your activity level or the weather changes.
Before and After Your Trip
Santa Barbara, California
Santa Barbara is a lively cosmopolitan city with plenty of opportunities for shopping, nightlife, and outdoor recreation. You can also explore some of southern California's other coastal cities, including Ventura, Oxnard, and Los Angeles which is located approximately 90 minutes south of Santa Barbara. We recommend the following accommodations for your pre- and post-trip hotel:
Where to Stay
The Belmond El Encanto exudes timeless Californian glamor. Rooms invite coastal-style serenity with a blend of light, airy textures and locally carved furnishings that echo the tranquility outside. Marble baths invite truly decadent bathing. Throw open your ocean-facing patio doors and drink in the breeze from the privacy of your terrace. Choose to unwind with a deluxe spa treatment or gaze out across the Pacific while soaking up the sun in the lavish zero-edge swimming pool. Or perhaps just a walk through seven acres of gloriously landscaped gardens that offer sweeping views of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean. www.belmond.com
Palihouse Santa Barbara
Located in downtown Santa Barbara in the Presidio District, this adobe-style resort has all the modern amenities including a heated pool, relaxing gardens, and a beautiful courtyard for unwinding. State Street, with its world-renowned culinary scene and shopping, is just three blocks away. www.palisociety.com
Hotel Californian
This hotel may be called the Californian, but it's pure Santa Barbara from its Funk Zone location to its two signature restaurants. You'll succumb to every luxurious touch, whether it's taking a break on the rooftop pool with a panoramic view of the palm trees and Pacific shoreline or treating your skin to a decadent oil blend at the surreal spa. The rooms are a magical mix of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and Moroccan flourishes, with modern touches from celebrity designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard. And even the facade tells a special story, with history dating back to the original 1925 hotel itself. www.thehotelcalifornian.com
Average monthly temperature and precipitation
Packing and Weather
In an average year Santa Barbara enjoys over 300 days of sunshine. During both spring and fall, expect temperatures in the mid 60s to upper 70s during the day and the mid 40s to mid 50s at night. Rain is rare, but there is always a chance. Morning fog on the coast generally causes cooler temperatures until it burns off in the afternoon. Los Olivos is located in the valley, so it will be a few degrees warmer.View our Packing List

Santa barbara wine country getaway bike tour.
Trip Overview
The Santa Barbara Wine Country Getaway is doubly-delectable! Not only do you get to ride some of the finest routes in California's Santa Barbara wine country … but you also get to savor the most delicious fresh foods and wines from the region. This four-day trip includes amazing vistas of vineyards, canyons and famous horse farms—dotted with stately oak trees. You explore the Santa Ynez (pronounced “ee-nez”) Valley with its low-traffic roads and backdrop of beautiful mountains. And you ride down to the Pacific for a stroll on the beach and to marvel at the surf. Stay all three nights at the spectacular ForFriends Inn*, where you are treated to a nightly wine happy hour and a three-course breakfast. This tour is all road biking, and the shorter distances each day include shuttling around slightly busier roads and intersections. *Upgrades are available at the ForFriends Inn for an additional $200 per night ($600 total for the tour) to stay in one of the six California Craftsman bungalows. These are larger than the inn rooms — with studio layouts featuring heirloom quality furniture, kitchenettes, premium finishes, high-speed internet, private porches and parking. Notify us on registration, and we will reserve an upgraded room for you in a bungalow, first-come, first-served. Surfaces for this tour: 100% Paved
