One interesting thing to know about the Lower Düden Waterfall is that since the name of the region is Karpuzkaldıran, the waterfall is also called Karpuzkaldıran Şelalesi which literally means the watermelon lifter waterfall.

There are two waterfalls with the same name (Düden) in Antalya. This waterfall pours water from the Düden River, one of the largest rivers in southern Anatolia, into the sea from a natural formation at Karpuzkaldıran.  There are similar waterfalls on the cliffs but this one is the most impressive and attracts a lot of visitors.

You can watch the beautiful waterfall from Düden Park nearby. It has an observation terrace that gives a special view of the waterfall. This terrace is not a recreation spot but a large green and pleasant area for visitors. It also features a cafeteria, a parking lot, and a picnic area. Having breakfast at one of the restaurants located on the top with the view of the waterfall is a famous attraction in Antalya .

The History of Lower Düden Waterfall

This waterfall from the Düden River got this name because it flows under ground. The name of the Düden River in ancient times was Katarrhaktes .

It's one of the important rivers in the Mediterranean Region, although its length is only 15 km. The water in the river comes from springs 40 km away, flowing underground.

The water rises to the surface in a place called Düdenbaşı and continues on the surface until it reaches the sea. There are two Düden Waterfalls: Upper Düden Waterfall and Lower Düden Waterfall.

Lower Düden Waterfall (Karpuzkaldıran) falls from a height of 40 meters into the sea via Lara road, where the Düden River reaches the sea.

Family friendly, recommended! We wanted to go on a boat trip with our three little ones, and this one seemed to be the perfect option. Including the transfers was a big plus for this tour, as it was difficult to move around with the kids. The boat was spacious enough, and we felt comfortable in it. We started our boat tour near Kundu Titanic Mardan palace hotel and after about 1 hour and 30 minutes journey towards Kundu Lara, 1 hour swimming break at Antalya lower Düden (Karpuzkaldıran) waterfall and then lunch here.

In our lunch menu that we will take on our boat, there will be grilled chicken breast and meatballs, as well as spaghetti, seasonal salad, haydari and fruit. After the meal, following the Antalya cliffs, we will sail to the Mediterranean Sea in search of sea turtles (caretta caretta) and Mediterranean dolphins.

2. Our swimming break will be around 30 minutes in the area where the caretta sea turtles live, and then our boat tour will end at approximately 15:00 - 15:30. Soft drinks are included throughout the tour.

The tour was different than the one we booked ( it was huge Alibaba pirate boat including children activities and foam party; I had booked a quite tour on a 15m boat with sea turtles swimming ); on the booking confirmation I got the info that soft drinks would be free, whereas they asked for money each drink; food was zero quality; the boat was full of people, you don’t know where to find some space; the way the staff people on the boat answered to me was not professional at all!

No Seats in the transport

We were picked up by a mini Van approximately 20 mins late, what is totally fine. What happend then was not ok at all. The bus did not have enough seats and one of us had to sit on the floor. This was very dangerous, the last part of the route was even offroad. Unfortunately this killed the whole experience and we couldn't enjoy the boat trip.

9:30 am pick-up.

Antalya waterfall boat trip departs from Kundu River, which is close to many hotels in Lara, Kundu and Belek.

With no lengthy transfers required from your hotel to the harbour, the boat sets sail at 10:00 AM.

10:00 AM Boat Departs

The boat is double-decked with downstairs shade and upstairs sunny seating areas. It has a bar, two toilets, changing rooms, fresh water showers and ladders to get in and out of the sea easily.

There are two boats, one with a 50-person capacity and the other with an 80-person capacity.

10:30 AM Lara Beach

After half an hour from departing, you will have the first swim break for 20 minutes offshore of Lara Beach.

11:30 PM Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall

Next, boat will approach the Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall, where you can take amazing photos. If you go to the front of the boat, you can feel the spray from the waterfall.

12:10 PM Sea Caves

As the boat glides along the coastline, you’ll see the towering sea cliffs and the boat will approach them so you can witness the majestic sea caves up close.

1:00 PM Lower Duden Waterfall

After visiting the sea caves, you will have one-hour swim break and lunch break at the Lower Duden Waterfall.

You can swim in the refreshing waters of the Mediterranean Sea or relax on the boat. Lunch will be served and includes meatballs, chicken BBQ, salad, and spaghetti.

2:00 PM Return

After the swim break, the boat departs from Lower Duden Waterfall at 2:00 PM and returns to the harbour at 3:00 PM.

Than after the break we had 15 minutes of drive in some water and dust. Not nearly 2 hours driving time. And there where so many, 8 buggy’s and 22 quads that the drive time felt like we spent most of it waiting. Didn’t feel very extreme either. When the guide is standing on the side of his quad you know the extreme part is not there. Not any wonderful view’s did we see either. Then came the steam room, shower, and jacuzzi - we truly felt like we were on vacation! Next was the exfoliation and foam massage - it was a special pleasure, and our skin felt incredibly clean. After a short break, we were taken to individual rooms for an oil massage - afterwards, our bodies felt very light and pleasantly relaxed. In the hammam, they offered us additional procedures, but we decided to stick with the basic package included in our deal, and it turned out to be more than enough to have a wonderful time at the Turkish hammam. Picked up from the hotel and dropped to a Hamam in Antalya. Gentleman showed us what to expect, said at the end we will advise what further treatment is needed. You can book it here or even at home. Place looked lovely. You need to wear your own costume, but they supply sliders and a wrap to cover up. You start in a sauna, move to the jacuzzi, steam room then off for your scrub. This is where it got interesting. We were a mixed group of four. The doors to the next room never closed and you could hear people going in and out. No privacy. The scrub itself was good though. Women at this stage have their tops down but still under the wrap. Then off to the massage areas. Mine kept stopping and starting, again I could hear the door open and people walking in and out. I was naked under my towel (as instructed by the masseur) and felt very uncomfortable. Back in the changing rooms I heard about the hard sales tactics employed whilst people were on the massage table. The prices people were quoted were so high and you were made to feel that you were cheap if you said no. My partner was told that he must not care for his health if you didn’t have an extra massage for £85!! We started to discuss what happened to us all in the waiting area. But were told to wait outside (so new arrivals could not hear us). Had to wait a while as two of the people who came on our bus had agreed to a further massage. It’s a reasonable price.
