A self-taught visionary, Dylan Schneider first started performing and writing at the age of 14, fearless and skilled far beyond his years. Forging his mark on the Country music community and fans alike with songs such as “Two Black X’s” (2016), “How Does It Sound” (2017), and “How to Country” (2019), Schneider rode a wave of momentum throughout his teens, gaining a devoted fan base and tenacious online following.

Kicking off 2024 on Nate Smith’s “World On Fire” Tour, Schneider readies his latest EP, Bad Decisions, for April 26, before making his Stagecoach Festival debut and joining Kane Brown on his “In The Air” Tour this fall.

BOX OF SURPRISES for solo piano

At the outset, a constellation of motives, sonorities, and gestures emerges in stark juxtaposition. Each of these minute musical seeds is developed and juxtaposed again, in a more evolved iteration of the cycle. Wash, rinse, and repeat. Before long, it starts to take quite a bit of time to “make it” through any one of these individual strains: they each sprout into entire sections of music, often interrupting one another as bits of one strain intrude on another.

I make a significant distinction in this piece between linear music (forward moving) and more static moments (let's call them hammocks for the brain) that afford the listener opportunities to reflect on where we've come—and how we got there.

STRIP-TEASE a chamber opera

STRIP-TEASE received its premiere during the inaugural season of the Logan Center for the Arts, as part of the Contempo series at the University of Chicago. The performance featured three singers and the University of Chicago’s two Grammy-Award-winning ensembles in residence: eighth blackbird and the Pacifica String Quartet.

In the opera, a pair of office workers find themselves detained, for unknown reasons, in an empty room. Instead of escaping through the unlocked doors, the men quarrel about whether or not they are truly free to leave. Soon, however, it is too late: a supernatural, man-sized hand crawls into the room, subjecting the pair to outlandish punishments.

HEAR/ACT sound installation

I have always been fascinated by the notion of a piece that would blur the boundaries between composer, performer, and audience. In 2016, my installation project, entitled Hear/Act, allowed viewers in a gallery to interact with an instrument I created using a nine-square MIDI pad linked to a laptop running Max/MSP. My program transforms the participant’s simple inputs of velocity and duration into a rich soundscape, allowing the user to create nuanced improvisations.

The Cassatt String Quartet premiered a major new work by Dylan Schneider, Dancer at an Exhibition, at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA. Composed in response to artwork at the Clark, the piece follows Degas' iconic ballerina (Little Dancer of Fourteen Years) on a whirlwind tour of the museum's collection and architecture.

In 2022, the world-renowned Cassatt String Quartet recorded Schneider's “GOES A-A-A-H…” and performed the work at thirteen concerts at the Seal Bay Festival of American Chamber Music in Maine, where Schneider served as composer-in-residence.

The work takes its inspiration from Antônio Carlos Jobim’s classic The Girl from Ipanema: “And when she passes, each one she passes goes ‘ah!’"

Scotty McCreery already announced he was spending much of the fall on the road , but now he’ll be joined by a rising star for several of the dates. The  American Idol  alum announces that Dylan Schneider will hit the road with him for five shows, beginning on October 14 in Harrisburg, North Carolina.

Schneider echoed McCreery’s excitement, posting , “Hitting the road with [Scotty McCreery] for some shows this fall. Tickets available on my website! Where else should I go on tour!?”

McCreery is currently enjoying a Top 40 hit with his latest single, “ Cab In A Solo .” The song, the debut single from his next album , was the most-added song the week it was released, and continues its rapid ascent up the charts..

The father of one is eager to play his hit singles, like “ Five More Minutes ,” “ Damn Strai ,” “ It Matters To Her ” and more while on the road, while also giving fans a hint of what they can expect from his next project.

“For me, it’s kind of fun to play some songs that might be recorded, might not be recorded,” McCreery told Indiana’s  Journal & Courier . “Playing off the crowd, seeing what they think, seeing how their reaction is. It kind of gives us the gauge of what we should record and what the next album should look like. It doesn’t happen every year, because we’re not always making an album, but we’re doing that this year. So it kind of gets to be fun out there doing that.”

While McCreery hasn’t revealed which songs will be on his next set of tunes, he does say he will have songs about his son, Avery, who will turn one in October.

“There’s definitely gonna be some baby songs, as you could guess,” McCreery told  Taste of Country . “My music for sure has kind of leaned a little bit into that autobiographical stuff. Something that I learned about music is how alike we all are, rather than different. When I talk about my life, I could be talking about thousands of other people’s lives, and they relate to it, too. So there’ll be a lot of life stuff. Just about not taking things for granted, and that’s where I’m at right now — just appreciating this new stage of life, and new fatherhood.”

Copilot für die Fertigung: Microsoft zeigt auf der Hannover Messe 2024 neue KI-Assistenten für die Industrie

• In diesem Jahr wird KI konkret: Auf der Hannover Messe zeigt Microsoft mit Kunden und Partnern, wie Industrie-Unternehmen neue Wettbewerbsvorteile durch generative KI erzielen.
• Industrielle Copiloten werden zu starken Partnern im Maschinenraum der deutschen Wirtschaft und gestalten die Zusammenarbeit von Mensch und Maschine produktiver.
• Repräsentative Umfrage zeigt: Generative KI kommt in Industrie-Unternehmen an und erzielt zunehmend Nutzen im produktiven Einsatz.

Immer mehr Industrie-Unternehmen nutzen das Potenzial generativer künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) und integrieren sie in ihre Produktionsprozesse. „Die Ergebnisse sind erstaunlich“ , sagt der Geschäftsführer von Microsoft Deutschland, Florian Deter. „Sie zeigen, wie schnell Industrie-Unternehmen durch generative KI die Zusammenarbeit von Mensch und Maschine produktiver gestalten.“ Auf der Hannover Messe zeigt Microsoft praktische Anwendungen und stellt neue Standardwerkzeuge vor, durch die jedes Unternehmen seinen eigenen Industrial Copilot bauen kann.

„Der Vormarsch der industriellen Copiloten beeindruckt und zeigt, wie schnell echter Fortschritt beim Schulterschluss zwischen Industrie und Technologie entsteht“ , erklärt Florian Deter. Viele KI-Lösungen sind bereits auf Knopfdruck in Standard-Software verfügbar und können „as-a-Service“ über die Cloud abgerufen werden. Auf der Hannover Messe stellt Microsoft außerdem neue Standard-Werkzeuge für generative KI-Anwendungen in der Industrie vor: „Manufacturing Data Solutions in Microsoft Fabric“ sowie „Copilot Template for Factory Operations“ sind nun als Private Preview verfügbar.

Generative KI: Fachkräftemangel ausgleichen und Wettbewerbsvorteile realisieren

Durch seine starke Industrie ist Deutschland einzigartig positioniert, um von der KI-Revolution zu profitieren. Generative KI ermöglicht, trotz Fachkräftemangels weiter zu wachsen und Wettbewerbsvorteile zu realisieren. Nach den Zahlen des Internationalen Währungsfonds gehört die Bundesrepublik zu nur drei Ländern, die weltweit den größten Nutzen aus KI ziehen können. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist auch das jüngste Investment in den Standort zu sehen: Im Februar kündigte Microsoft an , 3,2 Milliarden Euro in den Ausbau von KI-Infrastruktur und Cloud-Kapazitäten sowie die Qualifizierung von über 1,2 Millionen Menschen in Deutschland zu investieren. Und im März startete Microsoft zusammen mit lokalen Partnern aus Wirtschaft, Kommunen, Schulen und Bildungsträgern seine große KI-Qualifizierungsoffensive in Nordrhein-Westfalen .

Neue Studie: Generative KI zeigt ihren Nutzen in der Industrie

Heute glauben 37 Prozent der industriellen Entscheider*innen in Deutschland, dass generative KI den digitalen Wandel in ihren Unternehmen beschleunigen kann. Das ist ein deutlicher Anstieg gegenüber dem Vorjahr , denn 2023 waren es noch 29 Prozent. Dies gilt besonders für Großunternehmen mit über 1.000 Mitarbeitenden, wo sogar mehr als die Hälfte der industriellen Entscheider*innen (52 Prozent) an einen Digitalisierungsboost durch generative KI glaubt. Im vergangenen Jahr lag dieser Umfragewert noch bei knapp 32 Prozent. Das zeigt eine neue repräsentative Umfrage des Meinungsforschungsinstituts Civey im Auftrag von Microsoft, für die 1.500 Industrie-Entscheider*innen in Deutschland befragt wurden.

Mehr als zwei Drittel der Unternehmen (71 Prozent; 2023: 62 Prozent) sehen demnach einen mehrfachen Nutzen durch generative KI in der Industrie. Ihnen zufolge sind die Hauptvorteile: Effizienzsteigerungen (48 Prozent; 2023: 36 Prozent), Kosteneinsparungen (46 Prozent; 2023: 41 Prozent) sowie die Steigerung der Produktivität (35 Prozent; 2023: 25 Prozent). Dabei zeigt sich, dass generative KI immer mehr in den Unternehmen ankommt: Bereits 22 Prozent der Entscheider*innen geben an, sie produktiv in ihrem Unternehmen einzusetzen, während es 2023 nur 8 Prozent waren. Weitere 6 Prozent planen den Einsatz von generativer KI in den nächsten zwölf Monaten (2023: 4 Prozent).

Volles Programm: Microsoft auf der Hannover Messe 2024

Vom 22. bis 26. April 2024 zeigt Microsoft auf der Hannover Messe (Halle 17, Stand G06) zusammen mit über 25 Kunden und Partnern, welche Vorteile generative KI für die Fertigungsindustrie bringt. Der 1.000 Quadratmeter große Stand präsentiert, wie Industrie-Unternehmen die neue Technologie bereits erfolgreich einsetzen: zum Beispiel für eigene industrielle Copiloten, durch die Menschen in natürlicher Sprache mit Maschinen kommunizieren können oder Programmier-Code zur Steuerung von Maschinen schreiben lassen.

Dafür begrüßen wir unter anderem Accenture, Annata, Ansys, Avanade, AVEVA, Blue Yonder, BMW, Bosch, Capgemini, Cognite, Connected Cars DK, DSA, HARTING, HERE Technologies, Hexagon, KUKA, Netstar, NVIDIA, o9 Solutions, PTC, Rockwell Automation, SAP, Schneider Electric, SYNTAX, Sight Machine, Siemens, SymphonyAI, TCS, Threedy, ToolsGroup, Tulip Interfaces und Volvo. Messe-Highlights: BMW-Showcase und Erweiterungen von Siemens Industrial Copilot

Auf dem Messestand zeigen besonders zwei Beispiele, wie KI erfolgreich eingesetzt wird. BMW präsentiert in einem Showcase auf der Hannover Messe ein gemeinsam mit Microsoft entwickeltes Projekt. Der Copilot in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides hilft bei BMW per Sprachsteuerung dabei, Daten für die Fahrzeugentwicklung aus unterschiedlichen Systemen zu integrieren, Schlüsse abzuleiten und damit die Entwicklungsprozesse spürbar zu vereinfachen und zu beschleunigen. Dabei setzt BMW auch auf HoloLens 2, über welche die datenbasierten Ergebnisse als Hologramme auf reale Bauteile projiziert werden.

Und Siemens stellt den Siemens Industrial Copilot , der zusammen mit Microsoft und weiteren Co-Creation-Partnern entwickelt wird, für die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette vor: von Design und Planung über Engineering und Operations bis zum Service. Mit dem Siemens Industrial Copilot für Operations, der auf dem Microsoft-Stand präsentiert wird, lassen sich beispielsweise Informationen von Maschinen in natürlicher Sprache abfragen, statt sie umständlich in Handbüchern zu suchen. Die nahtlose Verbindung des Siemens-Portfolios mit Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service schafft maximale Konnektivität, beschleunigt Abläufe und hebt die Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion auf ein neues Niveau.

Neue Microsoft-Lösungen: Industrie-Copiloten für jedes Unternehmen

Microsoft hat die private Vorschau von „Manufacturing Data Solutions in Microsoft Fabric“ sowie von „Copilot Template for Factory Operations“ angekündigt, das in Azure KI verfügbar sein wird. Diese Lösungen helfen Fertigungsunternehmen, ihre Datenbestände aus OT und IT zusammenzuführen sowie die Datentransformation in Microsoft Fabric zu beschleunigen und zu skalieren, die für den KI-Einsatz nötig ist. Mit „Copilot Template for Factory Operations“ können Unternehmen außerdem eigene Copiloten erstellen, durch die ihr Fertigungspersonal solche Datenbestände in natürlicher Sprache abfragen kann, um Informationen zu finden, Schulungen durchzuführen, Probleme zu lösen oder Anlagen zu warten. Das ist beispielsweise für den deutschen Mittelstand besonders interessant. Microsoft stellt beide Lösungen gemeinsam mit Partnern auf der Hannover Messe vor.

Industrie-Copiloten: Weitere Showcases im Überblick

• Der KUKA Copilot interpretiert, kommentiert und generiert den neuen KUKA Robotic Language Code auf Basis der Azure OpenAI Services. Damit können Unternehmen Roboter einfacher programmieren und mit weniger Erfahrung konfigurieren, was die Amortisationszeit ihrer Investition verbessert.
• Mit dem Schneider Electric PLC Code Generation Copilot erzielen SPS-Ingenieur*innen, die Steuerungen von Maschinen programmieren, eine höhere Effizienz, indem sie ihre Arbeitsabläufe bei der Programmierung optimieren, die Entwicklungszeit verkürzen und die Konsistenz und Qualität des Codes sicherstellen.
• Der ANDRITZ Metris Copilot kombiniert die Erkennung von Anomalien mit einem digitalen KI-Assistenten mit Chat-Schnittstelle, der Informationen nahezu in Echtzeit liefert und bei der Entscheidungsfindung unterstützt. Die Lösung nutzt Daten von IoT-Sensoren und Steuerungssystemen, um Störungen, Fehler und Ausfälle mithilfe von Algorithmen zu erkennen und zu vermeiden.
• Von der Erstellung von Arbeitsaufträgen mit den richtigen Informationen bis hin zur Zuweisung an die richtigen Techniker*innen, um den Auftrag erfolgreich abzuschließen: Volvo Penta nutzt den Copilot in Dynamics 365 Field Service und den Copilot in Guides mit HoloLens 2 zur Unterstützung seines Personals in Service und Produktion.
• HARTING zeigt die KI-gestützte Entwicklung von Steckverbindern. Gemeinsam mit den Partnern Microsoft und Siemens präsentiert das Unternehmen, wie KI kundenspezifische Anpassungen bei industriellen Produkten revolutionieren kann: Eingaben in natürlicher Sprache werden durch hochentwickelte Microsoft-Erkennungsalgorithmen und kontextbezogenes Verständnis interpretiert, um Produkte durch eine HARTING-Steckverbinder-KI an spezifische Anforderungen anzupassen und 3D-Modelle für die CAD-Software Siemens NX zu erstellen. Dies beschleunigt Entwicklungsprozesse, ermöglicht ideal an die Anwendung angepasste Konnektivitätslösungen und sorgt für einen geringstmöglichen Ressourceneinsatz.
• Die diesjährigen Gewinner des Microsoft Intelligent Manufacturing Award zeigen ihre führenden Digitallösungen. Zudem findet am Mittwoch, 24. „Auf gute Nachbarschaft!“ – mit diesen Worten läutete der nordrhein-westfälische Ministerpräsident Hendrik Wüst heute am Standort der künftigen Microsoft-Rechenzentren das Zeitalter der künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) im Rheinischen Revier ein. In Elsdorf (Rhein-Erft-Kreis) präsentierte Wüst gemeinsam mit Microsoft-Deutschlandchefin Marianne Janik die Pläne, wie Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) zu einer führenden KI-Region wird.

Microsoft hat heute die größte Investition seiner 40-jährigen Geschichte in Deutschland angekündigt, um die Möglichkeiten und den Nutzen von künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) in der Bundesrepublik beschleunigt voranzubringen. Microsoft wird seine Rechenzentren für Cloud- und KI-Anwendungen ausbauen sowie bis Ende 2025 mehr als 1,2 Millionen Menschen im Bereich digitale Kompetenzen weiterbilden.

Microsoft hat heute die Einführung von Microsoft Copilot Pro, Neuerungen für Microsoft Copilot für Microsoft 365 für Unternehmenskunden und neue Funktionen in Copilot angekündigt.

Wie weit sind deutsche Unternehmen bei der Nutzung von sogenannter generativer KI? Microsoft hat bei IDC eine Studie in Auftrag gegeben, um diese Frage zu beantworten.
