Admire the iconic views over Victoria Harbour
Against the backdrop of the dazzling city skyline, there’s a constant flow of activity in Victoria Harbour: from ferries and cruise ships to the colorful sampans, dotted between barges and freighters. Walk along the water’s edge to admire one of the most iconic skylines in the world, and don’t miss the spectacular Symphony of Lights that illuminates the cityscape every night.
Venture to Stanley Market
Get a taste of traditional open-air markets in the little seaside village of Stanley. Situated on the south coast of the island, the sea breeze brings about a more relaxed atmosphere than the grimy street markets. Still an iconic marketplace, Stanley Market is the perfect place to find authentic Chinese embroidery and calligraphy.
Visit the Aberdeen Fishing Village
Here, you’ll find tradition mingled with modernity down by the water. Sampans and Chinese junks, where the traditional boat-dwelling Tanka people still live, are juxtaposed against the million-dollar yachts moored by high-rise buildings. Take a sampan ride around the picturesque Aberdeen fishing village to visit the famous floating restaurants and seafood markets.
Try local seafood at the Goldfish Market
The Goldfish markets are a fascinating scene. Shops brimming with tanks of tropical fish and thousands of goldfish bags hang from outdoor stands. Get the full experience with a guided tour of the Kowloon market places where you can sample tasty seafood along the way.
Take a ride on the Ngong Ping cable car
Experience the sights of Hong Kong from above the hustle and bustle of it all in the panoramic Knong Ping cable car. Take the 20-minute ride up and away from downtown Tung Chung to the tranquil Ngong Ping Plateau, and enjoy the stunning 360-degree mountain views.
Our top 5 things to do in Hong Kong
You’ll never be short of things to do in this fantastic city. From its bustling harborfront to its quiet mountain plateaus, we’ll show you all the excitement that Hong Kong has to offer.
Lantau Island
Po Lin Monastery
Wander through the Lo Pin Monastery, a sanctuary of prayer and birdsong located on the peaceful Lantau Island. Originally founded by three Buddhist monks, what was once a humble stone hut and thatched chamber has dramatically evolved into a world-renowned monastery. Imbued with Buddhist symbolism, philosophy and architecture, it is a Hong Kong must.
A-Ma Temple
Constructed in 1844 to honor the sea goddess Mazu, the hillside A-Ma temple offers a glimpse into the island’s past as a small Chinese fishing village. As you climb the steps to the temple gates, guarded by giant lions known as the “Foo Dogs”, you’ll find yourself immersed in a world of bright color and incense smoke, burning from the daily offerings.
Hong Kong Museum of History
The Hong Kong Museum takes you through an astonishing 400 years of history. The building itself is a testament to traditional Chinese architecture, siheyuan, and inside the exhibitions cover everything from the Opium wars to Japanese occupation and local folk culture. For the Bruce Lee fans, there’s an entire gallery dedicated to the martial arts legend.
Best museums in Hong Kong
Underneath the cosmopolitan shimmer of skyscrapers and modern architecture, Hong Kong is a city steeped in history and heritage. Our Hong Kong guided tours will take you to extraordinary museums and monasteries to discover its traditional roots and Chinese antiquity.
Cantonese for “touch your heart”, dim sum is as much about community as it is pork buns. Classically shared at breakfast and lunchtimes between families, friends and colleagues, the exhaustive menu offers over 2000 tiny bites served from piping hot bamboo baskets. No Hong Kong trip is complete without this quintessential dining experience!
Char Siu is unofficially considered the national dish. On almost every corner, you can find a hole-in-the-wall eatery with this delectable dish on the menu. It’s a simple preparation of sticky barbequed pork, cooked over an open fire and served on a bed of rice with a dark salty-sweet sauce.
After a long day of walking, nothing fills the belly quite like a hot pot of sizzling chicken soup. It’s a historic Chinese dish with a Hong Kongese 2-step version: first, a hot pot of stir-fried chicken, then a burning broth with fresh veggies and herbs tossed in. Make sure you get extra crispy soy rolls to soak up all the flavors.
Best food in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a food haven, from smoking street food and downtown eateries to Michelin star restaurants with world-class views. Amongst the hot pot of eastern and western flavors, we’ll share the local specialities you cannot miss.
What to pack for Hong Kong
Hong Kong offers many unique photo opportunities. Take a good camera to capture the iconic city skyline and the busy life in the market places.
A phrasebook
While most local people speak excellent English, it’s always nice to learn a little of their language. Take a phrasebook (or download an app) and try your hand at a bit of Cantonese for simple things like ordering food.
A rain jacket
Hong Kong is notorious for its rain, no matter the time of year. Always be prepared with a rain jacket in your backpack so you can keep exploring the city, even in the wet.
Dress shirts
With plenty of high-end restaurants on offer, you might want to pack a fancy dress shirt, so you fit in during a classy night out on the town.
Good walking shoes
The transport can be a little expensive in Hong Kong, so save some HK and explore the city by the sidewalk. Good walking shoes will also come in handy for all those temple steps, and mountain walks on your Hong Kong tour package.

Hong Kong Tours & Travel Guide
Hong Kong Attractions & Landmarks Guide
Hong Kong, a former British protectorate now ruled by mainland China, is an urban metropolis of glistening skyscrapers, but also with quick access to nature and the outdoors. Travelers can visit the spectacular harbor and high-end Central shopping district, and then hike around the Dragon’s Back trail. Hong Kong is a great stopover as part of a larger China trip .
With great nightlife, mouthwatering cuisine, stunning city views and an intriguing East-meets-West culture, Hong Kong a can't-miss destination. Only problem is you may never want to leave!
Hong Kong Food Tours
Hong Kong has the highest ratio of restaurants to people in the world. In the city center, every type of food imaginable is readily available. It’s no surprise that many people come to Hong Kong with the main objective to try some exotic and incredible food - and going a culinary tour can help you just that. On a food tour, you can expect to be traveling with a small group (some food tours cap at 6 people), and with a guide who is bilingual.
For the food, you will be certain to try delicacies from many “hole in the wall” places off of the tourist map. You are sure to try some dim sum, where diners can try several dishes at once. Other Hong Kong specialities include wontons, roast goose, steamed dumplings, fish balls, pineapple bread, -- but with thousands more dishes served, you can only be sure what you will eat once you get there!
Nightlife in Hong Kong
Going out in Hong Kong is safe, fun, and relatively easy for foreigners, which makes it a popular activity. This massive and modern city has every type of bar imaginable, from high end whiskey bars, to rooftop bars with amazing views, to more casual karaoke bars primarily targeted at young people.
Lan Kwai Fong used to be the hotspot for partying in Hong Kong, and although this has begun shifting in recent years, you can still find plenty of fun venues there. The Wan Chai are is a great spot for higher-end drinking venues, and Soho is the spot for nightclubs. For a non-alcoholic alternative, try a local ying-yang tea.
Hong Kong Shopping
Hong Kong is China’s heart of retail, and shopaholics will fall in love with the city's many, many shopping malls, where all sorts of high end clothes and goods are available. Any big international clothing or technology brand will have a shop in Hong Kong, although you shouldn’t expect any significant markdown on prices.
If you are looking to spend a little more on your souvenir, Hong Kong also has an expansive art and antiques market. Because there are so many reproductions, the best way to ensure what you’re buying is genuine is to visit one of the many respected antique and art houses in the city.
Antique houses are fun to visit even if you aren’t buying -- they will have some of the most interesting and valuable rarities on display, and a collection with origins in many different Asian countries.
If you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a genuine antique but love the look of traditional Chinese and Japanese furniture, for example, then consider getting a reproduction of those pieces. Many antique houses will hire artisans to craft copies of furniture, pottery, and other trinkets using the process of the period and sell these at a marked down price.
Hong Kong also a vibrant and competitive contemporary art scene, which is still growing and aims to compete with the likes of New York and London.
For your more typical souvenirs, visit Ladies' Market or the nearby Night Market. To see some of Hong Kong’s particularly unusual shopping encounters, visit the Jade Market or the Goldfish Market.
Sightseeing in Hong Kong
Take a stroll up Hollywood road to take in some Hong Kong sights, such as Man Mo Temple, known for its abundance of incense. Another popular stop is at the some of the aforementioned art galleries, for example, visit the PMQ (Police Married Quarters), where local artists showcase their work.
If you are on a family friendly tour of Hong Kong , you may be directed to the free Zoological and Botanical Gardens in your free time. The Gardens have a spectacular collection of apes, reptiles, and an abundance of plants native to China and from around the world..
To get the best view of Hong Kong’s skyline, your best chance is at night. The views of Hong Kong aren't all that great during the day, when smog blankets the city and results in poor visibility. At night, however, the skyscrapers are lit up against a clear sky and reflected in the water, making for some incredible views.
One of the most popular viewpoints is Victoria Peak, which can be accessed by taking a tram up the hill. The top of the IFC is another common spot from which to view the city. Or, choose from one of Hong Kong's many rooftop bars, and take in the view while enjoying a drink.
Another way to get some of the best views in Hong Kong from the water is to take the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central Hong Kong. This short boat ride offers a view of the city skyline that is particularly scenic as the sun is going down.
Day Trips from Hong Kong
On a multi day tour of Hong Kong, you are sure to go outside of the city and explore the surrounding areas. However, if your tour ends within the city, and If you have more time to spend in Hong Kong, try a visit to the New Territories, such as Sai Kung island, where you can take scenic boat trips or enjoy seafood on the promenade. Or take a cable car to see the Giant Buddha on Lantau island.
Disneyland is a popular attraction for younger children. Though it is smaller than those in other countries, it makes for a nice day trip, especially for families. Alternatively, you can visit Ocean Park, a theme park that also features marine life.

Discover China in 26 Days: The Ultimate Adventure Loop
I went on the China trip during 2014. After much research I found it to be the best value for money trip out there! The tour consisted of the best possible attractions, which meant we got to see the best parts of China on a shoestring budget! The tour guides to very friendly and helpful, a mix of English and Chinease guides, and they went out of their way for every single person, (especially when I had to go hospital for 3 days!) They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The transport was good, no frills, and still surprisingly comfy! I fully recommend this trip as you will get to see the best of China and lead by the best tour guides!

Wild Canton 12D: Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shunde, Kaiping, Mt Danxia, Yingxi etc.
Great itinerary and travel between all the destinations was well managed and pain free. The accommodation was a lower standard as this is a lower budget tour but all of the locations allowed for easy access to the local attractions. All of the hotels/hostels were clean and air conditioned, we were more interested in the sights anyway! Our guide was the best and balanced knowledge with ensuring the group had fun, she was happy to change plans and arrange alternatives if any or all of the group wished to do different things. A really great group of people added up to a fantastic, memorable trip that I would happily recommend to anyone wanting the 'Real China' trip.

China Tour: Hong Kong to Beijing (Private Bespoke)
My wife Rue and I went on a fun trip from Hong Kong to Guilin, China, as part of our china travels using Odynovo Tours .Our guide is named Eric Fan, he made every part of our journey exciting and interesting. We started with our first time cool high-speed train ride from Hong Kong to Guilin. In Guilin, we were welcomed by Eric who knew a lot about the places, he shared cool stories along the way to our hotel. In that same evening, we visited the most beautiful cave we have ever seen in our life (the Reed Flute Cave). Guilin views were amazing! We saw big rocky hills and rivers that twisted around them. The food was incredibly delicious. Eric showed us around the city and told us about its history and culture and we went on a boat ride on the Li River. Everything was so perfect l! Eric was really helpful during our trip. He told us where to eat the best food and shared interesting facts about Guilin. We felt lucky to have him as our guide. We recommend Odynovo Tours to anyone looking to visit china . Their tour guides are the best and they are fluent in English. When our time in Guilin was over, we felt happy and grateful for such a wonderful trip with Eric. We'll never forget the amazing sights and experiences we had. If you're planning a trip to Guilin, we totally recommend Eric Fan as your guide. He made our journey unforgettable!

What people love about hong kong tours.
I will use tourrader again
This tour gave me the opportunity to really see a lot of China in a relatively short time. Yangshuo was beautiful and all the activities there were breathtaking. I was traveling during the national holidays, so it was really crowded everywhere, but everything still went well. It was also good to always have a guide with you, as otherwise you really had difficulties with communication. The guide in each city changed and some were less motivated than others. There were also days that were a bit stressful. My highlights definitely included Yangshuo, Beijing and Xi'an. The time in Shanghai could have been shortened, in my opinion there wasn't that much to see there.

Today, Human Music Group Sensations Glass Animals announced their 2024 global TOUR OF EARTH . Promoted by Live Nation, the 41-date tour sees the band headlining the biggest venues of their career thus far and kicks off on Wednesday, August 7 in Charlotte, NC at PNC Music Pavilion, with stops across North America, Europe, and the UK in Toronto, New York, Nashville, Chicago, Vancouver, Inglewood, Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, Glasgow, and more before wrapping up with an epic hometown performance in London, UK at The O2. The GRAMMY-nominated and BRIT-nominated, Diamond-selling British band will be joined by special guests Kevin Abstract , Eyedress , and Blondshell on select dates throughout the North America leg. The Big Moon will join on all dates across Europe and the UK.
The tour will see the band playing many iconic venues around the world for the first time, including Madison Square Garden in New York, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, The Gorge Amphitheatre in Seattle, Kia Forum in Inglewood, 3Arena in Dublin, The O2 in London, and many more.
Yesterday, Glass Animals announced details of their highly anticipated fourth studio album, I Love You So F***ing Much , set for release on July 19th . The album is introduced by the band’s new single, “ Creatures in Heaven ,” out now—listen HERE and watch the visualizer HERE .
I Love You So F***ing Much is the follow-up to 2020’s critically revered Dreamland , which sold over 12 million copies globally and gave life to “ Heat Waves ,” the record-breaking song that became the biggest international hit from a British band in almost 30 years . It was the first song by a British band since the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” in 1995 to claim #1 for five consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 , and the first song to reach #1 with a single writer and producer since Pharell’s “Happy” —leading to the pop world’s biggest acts, including Florence Welch , all wanting to work with Glass Animals frontman, songwriter, and producer, Dave Bayley . But the birth of I Love You So F***ing Much was an existential crisis. Dave found himself struggling to make sense of this newfound global stardom, having watched it all happen while the world was in lockdown.
He says, “Life can change dramatically, but sometimes you aren’t able to change as quickly on a personal level. You end up feeling like a spectator. And then you are asked and expected to be a certain type of person, a different person. But…I wasn’t sure how. It confused me to the point of not knowing who I was or if anything was real.” It took being stranded on a cliff in a wooden house on stilts during one of California’s biggest storms in history to push that feeling into a full existential crisis. In forced isolation, watching trees tumble down mountains and assuming “death was coming,” Dave began asking questions of himself, of the universe, and of the human experience: namely, love. As he came to accept himself as an introvert, Dave realized that “human connection and the love between us is much bigger, more important, and more complex than anything else” . “Creatures in Heaven” is the sublime first glimpse into ten intimate love stories set against the backdrop of the universe.

2024 RIIZE FAN-CON TOUR 'RIIZING DAY': Dates, venues, & all you need to know about the rookie K-pop boy group's first concert
O n Friday, April 5, SM Entertainment announced that their rookie K-pop boy group, RIIZE, will be rolling out their first-ever concert series, RIIZING DAY . The currently six-member boy group will be kickstarting their tour from Seoul, South Korea, on May, 2024. They will then continue to make several stops across the world, including Singapore, Tokyo, Jakarta, and Hong Kong.
The tour will most likely roll out following the release of the rookie K-pop boy group's first mini-album release, RIIZING, which is scheduled for April 29. As pre-promotions for the same, SM Entertainment has rolled out the group's much-awaited track, the pre-debut song, Siren . However, another pre-release track is expected to land on the internet.
On April 18, RIIZE is expected to release the prologue single of the upcoming album, Impossible , and fans have eagerly been looking forward to the same. With the group finally rolling out its fan-con tour, which lets fans from several parts of the interact with the members, people have been over the moon.
2024 RIIZE FAN-CON TOUR RIIZING DAY : Dates, venues and more
RIIZE is a seven-member K-pop group that debuted under SM Entertainment in September 2023. Right from their pre-debut promotions, the group garnered a lot of attention from netizens for their energetic performances and catchy tracks.
The group initially had several NCTzens intrigued by the debut due to the re-entry of NCT's Seunghan and Shotaro into the industry. However, the entire group's qualities showcased through their promotional content have netizens, in general, hooked.
What also had several netizens impressed and obsessed with the group was their pre-debut track, Siren , where the members executed a commendable level of performance skills.
Their promising qualities only continued to grow after their debut, where almost all of their release such as Get A Guitar, Talk Saxy , etc., have gone viral on the internet. However, approximately in November 2023, the member Seunghan entered an indefinite hiatus following the break-out of a few controversies . Therefore, from November 2023, RIIZE has been functioning as a six-piece group, until the return of Seunghan.
While the K-pop boy group have thus far rolled out one single without Seunghan's presence, Love 119 , their upcoming first mini-album RIIZING will also be a six-member release. Therefore, the following fan-con tour will only have the six members , Anton, Sohee, Eunseok, Wonbin, Sungchan, and Shotaro, participating.
Here are the dates for their upcoming fan-con tour:
May 4 (Saturday) - Seoul, South Korea
May 5 (Sunday) - Seoul, South Korea
May 11 (Saturday) - Tokyo, Japan
May 12 (Sunday) - Tokyo, Japan
May 15 (Wednesday) -Mexico City, Mexico
May 20 (Monday) - Los Angeles, United States
June 1 (Saturday) - Hong Kong, China
June 15 (Saturday) - Taipei, Taiwan
July 14 (Sunday) - Manila, Philippines
July 20 (Saturday) - Singapore, Singapore
July 27 (Saturday) - Bangkok, Thailand
July 28 (Sunday) - Bangkok, Thailand
August 31 (Saturday) - Jakarta, Indonesia
SM Entertainment added in their announcement post that more dates for the fan-con tour can be expected. However, other information regarding ticket sale dates, price range and purchasing platforms is yet to be revealed.
Given that the upcoming tour stands as the first big-scale project of RIIZE, fans are excited to see what the rookie K-pop group has in store for them. On the other hand, fans have also been expressing mixed feelings regarding the news due to the absence of the member Seunghan .
Beneath the calm, Hong Kong’s new security law drives deeper, quieter changes

HONG KONG (AP) — On the surface, life in Hong Kong after a broad new national security law recently took effect appears unchanged.
A 2020 security law drew thousands of protesters to the streets when it was enacted. Now, that’s seen as too risky. This time, no arrests made headlines. There were no newsroom raids.
Instead, there’s a deeper, quieter wave of adaptation underway among Hong Kong residents who are living under the threat of more extensive restrictions after the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance took effect on March 23.
At an immigration expo during the law’s first two days, immigration consultant Ben Li’s booth was constantly busy, its small white tables all occupied. Inquiries about moving abroad jumped about 40% from last year’s expo. More than half of those asking cited the new ordinance, known locally as Article 23 , as a reason to consider emigration.
“The Article 23 legislation has brought a significant catalyzing effect,” Li said.
China promised to keep Hong Kong’s relative freedom and way of life unchanged for 50 years when Britain handed over control of its former colony to Communist-ruled Beijing in 1997. Those Western-style civil liberties, such as free speech and a free press, were the cornerstones of the city’s status as an international financial hub.
But since the 2020 law was imposed by Beijing after months of anti-government protests, they have been sharply curtailed. Many pro-democracy activists have been arrested, silenced or forced into exile. Dozens of civil society groups have been disbanded . Outspoken media like Apple Daily and Stand News have been shut down . And many disillusioned young professionals and middle-class families have emigrated to Britain, Canada and Taiwan.
Hong Kong’s Basic Law, or constitution, mandated that the city enact a national security law, but for 27 years the Legislative Council didn’t pass one, with widespread opposition to an earlier attempt to enact such a law in 2003. The Hong Kong government asserts the law is needed to prevent a recurrence of the tumultuous 2019 protests. It says the law balances national security with safeguarding freedoms.
Still, many fear falling afoul of the law — which targets colluding with “external forces” to endanger security, unlawful disclosure of state secrets, sabotage and espionage, among others. Grave acts such as treason and insurrection are punishable by up to life in prison. Some provisions allow criminal prosecution for acts committed anywhere in the world.
Facing those risks, some people have opted to play it safe.
An independent bookstore owner said it took about 30 books off the shelves, fearing it might be accused of distributing seditious publications. The titles were about the 2019 protests, Tibet and Xinjiang, all politically sensitive topics in mainland China. The books will be trashed.
The owner, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to fear of government retribution, said they removed the books because of the harsher provisions of the new law, which allows police to seek court approval to extend the detention of suspects without charges and prohibit suspects from consulting certain lawyers. The bookseller worried they would not have a fair trial if charged.
“It’s a pity,” the bookseller said. “This is an unnecessary infringement of freedom of speech.”
Under the law, sedition offenses carry a sentence of up to seven years, or 10 years if a person is convicted of working with foreign governments or organizations to carry out the activities. The government maintains that criticism intended to improve its policies will not be prosecuted, but there has been less leeway for public dissent since the 2020 law took effect.
The League of Social Democrats, one of Hong Kong’s few remaining pro-democracy parties, will be more careful about its publicity materials to avoid being considered seditious, said its chairwoman, Chan Po-ying.
“When things are uncertain, anyone would get worried,” she said.
John Burns, an honorary professor of politics and public administration at the University of Hong Kong, said residents are adopting coping strategies seen on mainland China, avoiding voicing opinions that might get them in trouble. But Hong Kong still has more space for dissent than the mainland, he said.
“So caution rules,” he said.
Days after the law took effect, the U.S.-funded news outlet Radio Free Asia announced it was closing its Hong Kong bureau because of safety concerns under the new legislation and pointed to criticism by authorities. It was yet another narrowing of the space for press freedom at a time when local journalists are struggling with how to adjust to potential new risks.
Ronson Chan, an editor at online media Channel C HK, is personally handling sensitive stories to minimize risks for his colleagues due to the wider scope of the law’s definition of state secrets. The defintion echoes the one used in mainland China, which covers economic, social and technological developments and criminal investigations, beyond traditional areas of national security.
The law also is also prompting adjustments in the legal and business communities.
Dominic Chiu, a senior analyst at the Eurasia Group, said some companies, including law firms, already had taken the precaution of restricting access for their Hong Kong staff to their global databases. That might not involve an “all-out ban,” but instead might require special approval to access foreign clients’ files, he said.
Those steps, taken even before the first draft of the new law was made public, were prompted by a belief that Hong Kong will eventually align its data security policies with those in mainland China. So the companies aligned their data policies with those of mainland China, Chiu said.
Banks and technology companies have not yet made plans to leave Hong Kong, said George Chen, Hong Kong-based managing director for The Asia Group, a Washington-headquartered business and policy consultancy. After all, many of them operate in other Chinese cities. But some companies are internally reviewing whether certain sensitive roles, such as those handling user data, should be moved elsewhere, he said.
In an emailed response to questions from The Associated Press, the government said it strongly condemned “all scaremongering and smearing remarks” about the law. It said other countries have similar laws and that the law just improves Hong Kong’s legal framework for safeguarding national security, thereby creating a more stable business environment.
“To single out Hong Kong and suggest that journalists and businesses would only experience concerns when operating here but not in other places would be grossly biased, if not outrageous,” it said.
Officials say the law only targets “an extremely small minority of people” who jeopardize security, similar to what mainland Chinese officials say about Beijing’s own expanding national security precautions.
George Chen would like to hear less about the topic.
“Hong Kong has been through a lot over the past few years and now we hear more and more clients telling us — can Hong Kong now move on?” Chen said. “Let’s talk less about national security every day but focus more on the real economy and business.”
