Snorkelling among a tropical reef, canoeing along a mangrove-lined creek, and sampling fresh fish, in the coastal village of Watamu
Sheltered by the curve of the tidal Mida Creek and fringed by a barrier reef, Watamu, on Kenya’s central coast, is a mecca for snorkelling and diving, and makes for a relaxing post-safari stay. You can take a boat out to Watamu Marine National Park to explore the kaleidoscopic sea life that flits among the corals. You could also explore by paddleboard, try kitesurfing, or navigate the creek by dugout canoe.
Between activities, relax on white-sand beaches or, at low tide, investigate shallow pools filled with shells, seaweed, and skittering ghost crabs. In the village, you can browse stalls selling bright fabrics and local carvings, sip drinks in the cafes, and taste seafood fresh from fishermen’s nets. You might also like to venture just outside town to visit the Ruins of Gedi — remnants of a medieval Swahili trade hub.
Snorkelling & diving in Watamu Marine National Park
You can take a boat trip (arranged locally or through your resort) or even swim out to the reef at low tide. Look out for green, hawksbill, and olive ridley turtles, which nest on Watamu’s main beach between April and October.
The coral itself is also a highlight, with over 150 species of hard and soft corals thriving here, including cerebral-looking brain corals, delicate fan corals, and sponges.
Mida Creek by boat, kayak, or dugout canoe
This tidal creek, surrounded by mangroves and fringed with palms, cuts into Arabuko Sokoke Forest to create an oasis for wildlife. Fish teem in its waters, crabs hide among the mangroves of smaller streams, and migratory birds touch down here to rest and refuel on their long journeys.
You can take in the natural grandeur by dugout canoe or kayak, paddling through small channels that cut through the mangroves. Or, join a boat trip, sipping dawa (a local cocktail with vodka, sugar, and lime) as the sun sets and spotting wildlife as you go, from kingfishers diving for prey to fish eagles perched on nearby trees. Mida is also where you’ll find the community-run Crab Shack, which serves fresh crab alongside crisp samosas and cold drinks, all while supporting locals.
Watamu village & beach
Around Watamu, shimmering sand is lined with private beachfront homes, jagged islands and rock pools invite exploration at low tide, and people come and go in brightly painted tuk-tuks.
You can stroll through the village, which blends Kenyan, Arab, and Italian influences, to browse its shops and relax in its cafes, or admire some of the handicrafts sold from bright and cheerful stalls. The village’s population of Italian expats have left their mark on the cuisine, and you’ll find authentic pizza and gelato alongside freshly caught fish.
The Ruins of Gedi
Just outside Watamu, you can visit the remains of a medieval Swahili settlement, the walled town of Gedi. Here, you’ll see remnants of stone buildings used by Arab traders until the 17th century, including a palace, mosques, and distinctive pillar tombs — structures topped with a pillar or column.
Best time to visit Watamu
While it’s warm or hot in Watamu year-round, July to October experiences the driest conditions with clear skies and milder, more comfortable temperatures. January to early March is generally dry but can get humid as temperatures soar. Between June and October seaweed occasionally collects along Watamu’s shoreline, so you may not have the same pristine beaches as other times of year.

Watamu Travel Guide: Everything You Need To Know!
Of all the wonderful coastal destinations in Kenya, Watamu Beach town is the place I like best and it is not difficult to see why this town keeps drawing me back in. I first visited with Mark in October 2020 when most parts of the world were still closed off to visitors.
We had just moved to Kenya from Lagos and were looking forward to spending time outdoors. After some deliberation and suggestions from friends, we chose Watamu Beach as the ideal location to unwind after our safari at the Masai Mara .
We spent 2 weeks on the beach and I loved it! I’ve returned twice since then and my love has not waivered. Hopefully, you will find all the information you need to plan the perfect beach holiday within this guide and maybe you will fall in love with Watamu Beach too!
What's Covered in this Post
Watamu Beach: Know Before You Go
Know Before You Go!
Best Time to Visit Watamu Beach: Watamu is a year-round destination with April-June [usually] being the rainiest months.
Getting Around: The easiest way to get around Watamu Beach is via tuk-tuks and motorbikes. You can easily flag one down on the road or ask your hotel to call one for you.
Language: Swahili, English, Italian
Currency: Kenyan Shillings (KSH)
How to Get to Watamu Beach
The easiest and fastest way to get to Watamu Beach is to fly to Malindi, which has the closest airport. From Malindi International Airport, the town is a short 30-minute ride away by taxi or car rental.
If you’re not keen on flying, you can either drive down or take the 6-hour-long SGR train ride from Nairobi to Mombasa and then take a taxi from there to Watamu.
If you decide to go via this route, I recommend taking the intercounty (morning) train or spending one night in Mombasa before continuing the journey to Watamu as it takes another 2-3 hours to get there from Mombasa.
PS: If you need the number of a good driver to pick you up from Malindi International Airport or Mombasa Terminus to your hotel in Watamu Beach, leave me a comment below and I’ll share the number of the driver we used with you via email.

Where to stay in watamu beach.
Choosing the right place to stay can elevate your experience in Watamu. Luckily, you will find accommodation options for every budget type in this town. During peak travel seasons and holidays, it is important to book in advance to secure your preferred accommodation.
Regarding where exactly to base yourself, it all depends on your preference. Mine is to stay somewhere right on the beach, however, this often comes with a higher price tag.
That being said, the last time I visited Watamu with my sisters, we spent some of our time in a private Airbnb accommodation that was a 5-minute walk away from the beach and it was marvellous!
There's also another thing to consider when choosing your accommodation - which part of the town to stay in? A fork in the road splits Watamu into two parts. The left side has more restaurants, shops and activities going on, while the right is quieter, has the best beaches and is closer to the creek.
If you have a good amount of days to spend, it might be great to split your stay between the two parts to get a feel of both. However, commuting from one side to the other is so easy, that this might not be necessary if you find a place you love.
Now for my recommendations, here are some of the best places to stay in Watamu. I put a (*) in front of the places I've personally stayed at and I can easily recommend all of them.
Best Accommodations in Watamu
Luxury: Hemingways Watamu
Mid-Range: Kobe Suite Resort * | Medina Palms | Visiwa Beach Resort * | Crystal Bay*
Budget: Watamu Beach Cottages | Bamba Kofi Tented Camp *
Airbnb and Unique Stays: Anita and Sofia's House * | Watamu Treehouse
Now, let's move on to the best part - what to do in Watamu Beach! Though it might seem like a sleepy town on the surface, there's an array of activities to do here. Here are some of my favourites…
Fun Things To Do in Watamu Beach
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amarachi Ekekwe H. (@amarachiekekwe)
"Dolce far Niente"
The number one thing to do during a beach holiday is to relax. So when you visit Watamu Beach, be sure to take some time to indulge in the sweetness of doing nothing.
Enjoy long beach walks on the beach and the feeling of the powdery white sands against the soles of your feet; take dips in the ocean, relax by the pool, watch the sunrise and sunset and appreciate all the simple pleasures of life in Watamu.
Tip : Temperatures on the coast can be high; pack a good sunscreen and book accommodation with AC and a pool!
Go on a Snorkelling or Diving Trip
A fun activity to do while in Watamu is to go snorkelling or scuba diving in Watamu Marine National Park & Reserve.
There are several boat operators that organize this outing, you can simply ask your hotel for a recommendation. Also, if you travel during the right season, you can go whale and dolphin watching in this marine park as well.
Go Kayaking or Stand-Up Paddle Boarding
Another fun activity to do in Watamu is to go kayaking or paddle boarding on Mida Creek. This tour takes you on a beautiful journey through the mangroves and culminates with epic sunset views over the creek.
You can organize this tour via Watamu Treehouse or leave me a comment below to request the number to book this activity directly with the operator.
PS: Watamu Treehouse has an array of activities they organize as well, including yoga classes and an award winning tidal float experience, which I am looking forward to trying out soon! You can visit their website here for more information.
Sail on a Dhow on Mida Creek
A dhow ride on Mida Creek is one of my favourite things to do in Watamu. It is such a relaxing and serene activity and one that I absolutely recommend for you to include in your itinerary.
There are several operators that organize this activity. We've gone with three different operators and they were all excellent but I only have contact details for one, which is Captain Sammy Dhow Boat. You can book this experience via their Whatsapp number .
Schedule a Spa Day
Every beach holiday deserves an allocation for a day at the spa and in Watamu Beach, the place to go is Sakina Ocean Spa in Medina Palms.
You can make a half a day trip out of this outing by booking a full spa session and wrapping up your time with dinner at the resort's restaurant.
If you're looking to indulge in some sporting activities while in Watamu Beach, then why not try golfing at the Watamu Pitch & Putt golf course near Crystal Bay Resort.
They have golf clubs for rent, so you do not need to bring your set.
Learn how to Kitesurf
Speaking of sporting activities, here's another one to try out - Kitesurfing! If you've always wanted to learn how to kitesurf, you can take some lessons in Watamu.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Watamu Kitesurfing School (@tribewatersports)
Take a Day Trip
I could spend weeks in Watamu without feeling the need to go anywhere else, but if you grow restless and want to see more of the area, you can take a day trip to visit places like Hell's Kitchen Marafa, Gede Ruins, Arabuko Sokoke forest and even Tsavo East National Park.
Now, let's talk about the food - which is another good reason to visit.
Where to Eat in Watamu Beach
I have written a blogpost dedicated to some of the restaurants we dined at in Watamu . You can check it out for the full list and my reviews of each place.
Don't miss dining out in Watamu. Skip the full board option and enjoy some of the wonderful restaurants the town has to offer.
If you book a self-catering accommodation, then you can shop for food and groceries at the local stands or the more accessible but pricier supermarket in the town - Blue Marmalade.
Found this post helpful?
As you can see, there's a lot to love about Watamu Beach! This place has all the elements in place to make a perfect beach holiday. I love that it has the ocean as well as the creek, giving visitors a diverse array of activities to do while in the town.
I hope that you have found this guide helpful in planning your trip to Watamu. Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section below. And if you have visited in that past, I would love to hear about your experience too!

Chasing The Stunning Autumn Foliage in Nikko
It looks beautiful!
Indeed it is!
Such dreamy images from Watamu Beach ands its surrounds. As I type this from grey, chilly Tbilisi I just want to dive into these photos. While I think I’d be happy enough just watching the kitesurfing (with a cocktail in hand), I’d definitely be up for some snorkelling. The accommodation looks wonderful and the backyard pool reminds me a little of our digs in Siem Reap.
I’m right there with you holding a cocktail and watching the kite surfers do their thing! I do remember your Siem Reap posts, most notably, the one about the accommodation with the snake climbing the tree!!
Looks like my kind of place! Kitesurfing definitely looks intriguing too. I’d give it a try
It is the place to be, and I’m sure you’ll love it! I’ll love to read about your experience when you try Kitesurfing out.

What to do in Watamu
E scapist, enchanting, and with an indefinable air of having time-warped itself back to gentler days, watamu is one of kenya’s most popular beach destinations. sheltered by the nurturing curve of mida creek, it abounds in rocky coves backed only by baobab trees; and shimmering lagoons fronted by great sweeps of silver sand. as well as boasting one of world’s most beautiful beaches, watamu offers visitors a wide-range of activities, unforgettable day-trips and a fascinating insight into swahili life. here are just a few suggestions..
Explore Watamu village
In the village, there’s a cheery line-up of stalls displaying brilliantly-coloured fashions, local carvings and vibrant art. Elsewhere there are charming coffee shops, Italian gelato bars, delicatessens and bakeries. Fishermen sell fish fresh from the sea. The restaurants range from gourmet to simple roadside snack bar.
The clientele is cosmopolitan fusion. There are Italian and British residents; there are multi-cultural tourists; and there’s the welcoming mélange of the locals. And the happy-go-lucky, air of the place is epitomized by the fact that most people get around either by walking along the beach or taking a gaily-painted tuk tuk (motorcycle taxi).
Take a canoe ride through Mida Creek
According to Greek mythology, everything that ancient King Midas touched turned to gold. On the calm stretch of tidal water known as Mida Creek it’s the water that turns liquid gold as one of Kenya’s most stunning sunsets illuminates this secret domain of mangrove swamps and palm trees. For optimum immersion in the gold-painted early evening, take a spin on the creek in a traditional dugout canoe. Pole-propelled, it can nose its way into the mysterious forest of mangrove roots where ghost crabs flash briefly in the shallows, white egrets roost and grey herons stand as motionless as statues.
You’ll meet local fishermen – wading in the creek and crab-hunting with bows and arrows. You may even encounter the Mida rush-hour – a flurry of two or three little white boats packed with laughing local ladies and the odd surf board with a stool strapped on it – the paddler, more often than not, with his cell phone crammed to his ear.
And as gold gives way to indigo, you can head into the community-run Crab Shack for cold beers and golden-fried crab samosas. The crabs are farmed in the mangrove swamps so they don’t come any fresher; and by sampling the Mida experience you’re supporting the local community. It’s gold-chip eco-tourism. Visit Bio-Ken Snake Farm
Fancy holding a four-foot cobra, and milking it for its venom? Then head for Bio-Ken Snake Farm , just five minutes from the centre of Watamu village. Housing the largest collection of snakes in East Africa, the farm is also a vital source of snake-bite serum. It also makes a great family outing boasting both scare-value and education alike.
For the very brave, Bio-Ken also offers a range of ‘Snake Safaris’. For further information: www.bio-ken.com
Take a tour of EcoWorld
On the sandy track that leads from Watamu to Mida Creek is a miracle. It’s called EcoWorld . And it’s deliciously inspirationally whacky. On one side of the road is an enormous pile of plastic refuse, on the other a stockade made of plastic flip-flop sandals. Venture inside and you enter the utterly surreal world of Watamu’s revolutionary recycling industry.
Fuelled by the refuse washed up on the beaches and by the vast amount of plastic and glass bottles generated by the local hotels, the EcoWorld team create everything from building construction blocks (plastic bottles filled with sand), bottle-bottom bricks, art made from washed-up toothbrushes – to toys made from recycled flip-flops, charcoal made from crushed coconut shells and cooking gas made from rotting vegetables.
But the miracle doesn’t stop there – the Watamu Marine Association’s ‘Blue Team’ keep the beaches clean, the local hotels cook on the methane gas generated by their own kitchen waste, and the compost left over from the bio-gas generators grows luxuriant bunches of basil which fuel the local pizzas. An award-winning, benchmark-setting and superbly-symbiotic relationship between local community and tourism industry, the EcoWorld model is so successful that it’s being mirrored all over Kenya and the world. Visitors are welcome and the gift shop (itself constructed entirely from bottles) is a treasure trove of ecologically-sound gifts.
For further information, visit the EcoWorld Facebook page .
Spend a day big game fishing in the Indian Ocean
When it comes to big game fishing, Watamu is Mecca. Moored in the blue-green waters of the glorious bay is a stunning selection of double-tier fishing boats. They are festooned with huge rods, each of which is custom-designed to reel in the REALLY big fish, such as marlin, wahoo and sailfish. It’s mostly tag-and-release fishing, though hotels such as the iconic Hemingways do catch their own fish and serve them up superbly fresh in their restaurant. As to when to go – that really depends on which fish you’re after – but for professional advice you can do no better than contact the African Billfish Foundation : http://africanbillfish.org .
Help save the turtles of Watamu
The beaches of Watamu are a favourite nesting site for green, hawksbill, olive ridley and leatherback turtles. Local Ocean’s Watamu Turtle Watch monitors 50-60 nests per year in the area, not only to shepherd the baby turtles down to the beach, but also to rescue large turtles caught in the fishermen’s nets. The best time to see turtle hatching is between March and October.

To visit the rehabilitation centre, or discover how you can adopt a turtle or beach nest, visit: https://localocean.co
Paddle board with the dolphins of Watamu
Watamu is famous for its dolphins (Indo-Pacific bottlenose, Indo-Pacific humpback and spinner). Returning year after year to the sanctuary of Watamu, mothers arrive with their calves and males arrive to mate. What’s more, the regulars have been carefully catalogued according to their very personalized fin markings. This gives the dolphin spotting tours an added dimension.
You can also enjoy the rare treat of stand-up paddle boarding with dolphins. For more information: www.tribe-watersports.com
Go SCUBA diving…
It’s a tribute to the brilliance of the Watamu dive experience that people come back year after year. One visitor admitted to having done 750 dives off Watamu with Turtle Bay Dive Centre ( www.watamudivecenter.com ). When asked what made him such an unshakeable devotee of Watamu diving, he said it was a mix of friendly dive-guides and year-round clear, warm water. He also raved about the great selection of 20 world-class dive profiles ranging from cliffs, drop-offs, night dives and wreck dives. Also good to know is that, whether you’re learning or pro, Watamu boasts some exceptionally professional dive-schools. So… dive in.
…or swim with whale sharks
Given that they’re the size of a double-decker bus, a whale-sighting is a perspective-changing experience. And in Watamu, such sightings are commonplace, not least because the whale-spotting teams liaise to circulate information as to where the whales are at any given time. Migratory pods of humpback whales pass by from Southern Africa typically between July and September.
Meanwhile, the prime whale shark season is usually September to December when you can snorkel alongside these gentle giants. But whales are often seen at other times of the year too. Nor do you have to go out on a boat to see these gentle giants – they often ‘breach’ right off the headland – so you can see them from the beach bar.
Marvel at the magic of Watamu Marine Park
An inspirational water world, Watamu National Marine Park and Reserve showcases the entire water-sports spectrum to perfection. There’s kitesurfing, paddle-boarding, boogie-boarding, snorkeling, sailing – the lot. It also boasts a glorious coral reef. Here you’ll find 150 species of coral, 1000 species of reef fish and both sea turtle feeding and breeding sites. You can also expect the additional lure of sightings of manta rays, grouper and barracuda in the deeper waters.
Find haunted cities and magical culture
Watamu’s history is long and venerable. The vast city of Gedi, now a national monument, was first settled by Arab traders around the 12 th century and not abandoned until the 16 th century. Then, or so legend has it, everyone left virtually overnight, scattering their treasures as they ran.
But Gedi is not the only remainder of a forgotten civilization because on Temple Point, ringed by ancient baobabs, stands a ruined mosque. And there are more ruins on the utterly unspoilt and rarely visited island of Kirepwe, which lies on the far side of Mida Creek. Read the full article on Gedi Ruins.
Need to know
Getting there : It couldn’t be easier. Watamu is a scenic 95 km drive from Mombasa, or a short flight from Nairobi to nearby Malindi (Air Kenya, Fly 540, Jambo Jet and Kenya Airways).
Where to stay : Watamu has it all: 5 star resorts, family resorts, eco resorts, apartments, simple guest houses and safe and secure camping.

Welcome at Marijani Holiday Resort
Marijani Holiday Resort offers affordable accommodation in Watamu and has been welcoming guests from all over the world since 1997.
Marijani Holiday Resort is just a 200-meter walk away from the white sands of Watamu Beach. The houses of the cozy resort are paved with brown coral stone (Swahili: Marijani). The place is like an oasis nestled in a large tropical garden, where in addition to our guests also birds, wild monkeys, turtles, butterflies and geckos feel comfortable. With us there is a family atmosphere, but the guest has his privacy. Each of our guest rooms is individually decorated. There are reasonably priced rooms with and without kitchen, which are perfect for long-term vacationers. Breakfast can be booked additionally in both cases. All rooms, ground floor or first floor, have a garden view and there is a veranda or terrace with sitting area and divan bed, as well as a fridge and a lockable small safe. Our Masai Askaris at the entrance area with the friendly support of our dogs provide further security. Parking is available on the premises. Sun loungers can be placed for you in the garden area or on the roof terrace. The roof terrace of our front house offers a view to the beach and Indian Ocean and over the roofs of Watamu Village.
You can reach Watamu via the B 8, we are situated about 80 km north of Mombasa and about 30 km from Malindi.
At Gede, just past the petrol station, there is a turnoff from the B 8 that goes straight over Gede and Timboni to Watamu. At the T-junction turn left at the end of this road, direction Watamu. Trespass the villages of Gede and Timboni until the end of the road and then turn left, direction "Watamu Village". After about 800 meters, turn right at "Richland" and "Oil Libya gas station". Then go straight for about 300 meters until you see "Mama Lucy's Minimarket". Turn left here, downhill into the paved "Watamu Village Road". Follow the road, turn left at the "Corner Shop" and continue towards the beach (Watamu Beach). From the Corner Shop it is about 300 meters to Marijani Holiday Resort, we are located on the left side, 200 meters in front of the beach.
Getting There From Mombasa Airport : By taxi to Watamu is 89.9 km. Directly at the airport you can take a taxi and drive to Watamu Village Road, Marijani Holiday Resort. The travel costs are negotiable and are between 7000 and 8000 Kenya shillings.
Arriving from Malindi Airport : You will get a Matatu or Tuck Tuck to Watamu opposite from the airport entrance. You also get a taxi directly at the airport, it is 15.9 km to Watamu, the price is negotiable and is about 3000 to 3500 Kenya Shilling.
If you are coming by Malindi bus or Malindi matatu from Mombasa : Departure is at bus station "Buxton", Mombasa Town, near Nyali Bridge, right side, coming from Mombasa town towards the bridge. Drop at Gede, then take a matatu or tuck tuck to Watamu. If coming by tuck tuck, tell the driver to drop you at Marijani Holiday Resort. Coming from Gede by matatu you drop at Watamu "Richland" and walk about 700 meters ("Watamu Beach Road") towards direction of "Mama Lucy's Minimarket". From there, you walk about 400 meters down the paved "Watamu Village Road" into the village, direction to "Watamu Beach". You will pass the "Corner Shop", a few local fish shops and houses in European style. Shortly after a stone bench and the signboard "Bla Bla Road", you will reach the entrance of "Marijani Holiday Resort" on left hand. Ring the bell outside and wait for the Askari to open for you. If you get lost in Watamu don’t hesitate to phone us to assist you: Bui: 0721 704693, Alois: 0711 830465 or Jay: 0713 962618. We look forward to welcome you soon!
Some of our comfortable double rooms have their own kitchens with utensils, so you can choose between bed and breakfast or your own kitchen instead. In every case all our guestrooms have their own fridges and bathrooms that you don't have to share with other guests. The guest rooms are with ceiling fans, small wall safes, mosquito nets and huge four poster beds.
On arrival, we welcome you with a fresh coconut from our garden.
When planning excursions to Lamu, or if you need any help on holiday planning on site, the Marijani team is at your disposal.
You can relax on a sun bed at your veranda in front of your guestroom or you might find a pleasant place in our tropical garden.
If you like you can try "african bodybuilding" at our special fitness place on the veranda of our private house.
For families or groups up to 6 people we have a separate bungalow with 3 double bedrooms, living room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. There is a cool veranda and sun beds for the garden as well. If you travel with your own vehicle, we have a safe parking place on our compound.
Breakfast for our bed and breakfast guests will be served at our "open air" breakfast place upstairs, if you want to be served on your own veranda instead, "hakuna matata" for our flexible team. On request you can also take dinner at Marijani, or we do grilling for you in our court yard or at our beach kibanda at Papa Remo Beach.
As a former fishing village, Watamu is still very tranquil and romantic, although in the evening you can go to the disco and there are a number of cozy restaurants and cafes on the beach and on the main street. There are some small restaurants and bars on the beach and on the main street. On the beach nearby you can rent sunbeds, or just relax at low tide in the shallow warm waters of the Indian Ocean, watching tropical fish, seabirds, shells and crabs.
There are kenyan and international restaurants of cheap or reasonable prices in the village. Nightlife takes place in the 2 clubs "Kalahari" and "Come Back Club" at the "main road" or at “Club Santana” and “Red Lion”. All places in the surrounding you can reach cheap and easy by Tuck-Tuck or with a motorbike driver. Friends meet for pool billiard, drinks, african food or pizza at one of the various small restaurants at the main road or in the village. Others just relax on our open air front house veranda under the stars or reading their novels on their veranda in front of their rooms.
A highlight for scuba divers is the nearby Malindi-Watamu Marine National Reserve . We are working close together with " Aqua Ventures ", a very well equipped PADI Centre nearby. They are very much engaged wildlife preservers.
If you are not a diver at all, there are also glass bottom boat tours, picnic trips to the nearby mangrove Islands ( Kirepwe , Sudi ) and snorkelling excursions, seasonal tours to dolphins or humpback whales, or local fishing trips. To make your trip an unforgettable, nice experience, our staffs are pleased to help you to find a trustful, well experienced captain.
Watamu Beach is not only recommended during the day as for swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing or having a walk at the reef during low tide (we suggest to wearing plastic sandals for this). Romantic impressions you'll get if you go there in the early morning.
Discover the surrounding by matatu, taxi, Tuck-Tuck, motor bike, boat or bicycle. There is the interesting BioKen snake farm nearby. The famous Gede Ruins , some caves, a butterfly project and Arabuko-Sokoke-Forest are not far away. - Perhaps you like to learn some dancing steps of the Giriama?
Watamu itself is presenting a colourful african lifestyle. There are not only goats and fish in the village, we do also have a modern supermarket with things of the civil lifestyle.
