10 most viewed home interior tours in singapore in 2022.

WRITTEN BY Adriano

scandi kovan hdb

It’s just 2 days before we come to the end of 2022, and what a year it has been. As cliche as it may sound, time really does fly by. It’s been our second full year since we’ve launched YouTube, and it’s been incredibly fulfilling for the team to see the channel grow over the past 2 years.

We can also see how the pandemic has driven focus towards interior design, and more thought into what goes into making a home (which is also why we launched The Stacked Store ).

And so at the end of this year, we’ve decided to look back at the top 10 most viewed homes in our Living In series. It’s a good time to reflect and remember some of the nicest designed homes that we’ve toured in 2022, and surprisingly, some of the most viewed homes have only come about in the latter half of this year.

(It must also be said that the YouTube algorithm is a funny beast. The views aren’t always reflective of good design, and it’s more of if there were competing videos for views at the time of launch).

Nevertheless, we had to go by some metric to rank – and so here are the top 10 most viewed homes in our Living In series in 2022:

#10 Inside An Architect’s Own Curved 3-Room HDB Home In Bedok North (135,000 Views)

Perhaps it’s no surprise that everyone wants to see what an interior designer or architect’s own home would look like (it’s like how you’d want to know a famous chef’s favourite restaurant). Coming in at our 10th most viewed video, architect Kenneth and his furry companion Jinko are living in a 3-room HDB that measures 732 square feet.

One of the standout features of the home is the dramatic arch behind the dining area, which Kenneth uses as an ever-changing art gallery. And to further elongate the space, he custom-designed a 3m long dining and study table. It’s just a really well-thought out home, and can serve as good inspiration for those who love having more lights in their home.

#9 Inside An Architect Couple’s Tasteful Timber-Filled Makeover Of An Old HDB Flat (136,000 Views)

It’s the battle of the architects, as architect couple Jie Lun and Jen have really transformed this old 5-room resale HDB flat in Jurong.

Nestled in a corner, this unit offers more privacy, but the most eye-catching feature of the home are the rounded windows at either end (one in the master bedroom and one in the common bedroom). The original floor plan included 3 bedrooms and a study, but they have reworked the layout to better fit their needs.

One of the common bedrooms was converted into an expansive walk-in wardrobe, and the study was transformed into a dining area. This allowed the living and kitchen areas to be fully open, perfect for entertaining guests. Adding a warm touch, the home features timber ceilings that give it a cosy ambiance. It’s quite different from most homes we’ve seen, and it’s the little details that really make the home so uniquely theirs.

#8 Inside A Striking Modern Brutalist HDB Maisonette Home (144,000 Views)

This is perhaps one of the most distinctive homes we’ve seen so far. Set in a 1,680 square-foot HDB Maisonette, homeowners Alfred and April (restaurant owners of Monzen@Gardens) have really taken it upon themselves to create a dark-themed home.

As soon as you step in, it’s clear that the movie Dark Knight served as major inspiration. Upon entering, the ceiling lights turn on in a stunning display thanks to clever programming. The entryway is mirrored on one side, with shoe cabinets and a secret door leading to the rest of the house.

Besides this, one more cool touch is their living room that rivals any Gold Class movie experience out there with a plush reclining couch and a projector.

#7 Inside A Picturesque Scandi HDB Maisonette In Kovan With A Lovely Balcony (155,000 Views)

It’s clear that Singaporeans have a fascination with HDB Maisonettes (besides breaking price records for Executive Flats). Here’s one of the cosiest HDB maisonettes that we’ve seen to date in Kovan. When homeowners Suren and Esther first moved in, the original layout was pretty cramped, with the living room spilling out onto the balcony. But after knocking down a few walls, the new space is a total transformation – it’s much more open and spacious.

One of the coolest features of the house has got to be the balcony. The glass doors can be completely opened up, giving you a seamless transition from inside to outside. So even if you’re sitting on the balcony, it feels like you’re still part of the living room, but with the added bonus of fresh air.

#6 Inside A Carefully Considered Raw Architect’s Home With A Carved Out Balcony (157,000 Views)

As the owner of Kaizen Architecture, Melvin is no stranger to designing homes. His 4-room, 1,090 square foot HDB resale flat in Chai Chee is a testament to his skills. When you compare it to the original floor plans, it’s hard to believe it’s the same place!

One of the standout features is the balcony turned plant paradise, complete with sliding doors that divide the garden from the living area. When you step inside, the first thing you’ll notice is the 3m long dining table made of raw plywood, complete with a custom spiral light hanging overhead. Behind the table is the “carpentry core,” where Melvin has added extra storage space. The living area also serves as an art gallery and sneaker museum, showcasing Melvin’s collection.

Plus that original light above his dining – it’s a look that really catches your attention.

#5 Inside A Unique Landed HDB Home With A Idyllic Japanese Zen Garden (157,000 Views)

HDB landed living is something that’s really unique in Singapore (there are only 2 small clusters of such homes in Singapore), so much so that some people are still surprised to learn that there’s even such a thing.

Grace and Wei Xiang, along with their pups Truffle and Chanko, knew they were onto something special when they stumbled upon this landed HDB home on Jalan Bahagia. The 2-storey unit boasts 1,000 square feet of living space and 1,400 square feet of land.

To create a Japanese Zen garden, Grace and Wei Xiang leveled out the front porch, creating a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy a cup of tea. Inside, they repurposed the space under the stairs into a dog house and hacked a room to move the kitchen, complete with a custom dining and bar island counter. Another standout feature is the track lights embedded into the wall, adding a unique touch to the overall theme of the home.

#4 Inside A Self-Designed Raw Industrial HDB Home With A Creative Flair (178,000 Views)

Perhaps second time’s the charm with this version 2.0 of Tobby and Kaiyi’s home. If you haven’t already yet seen, you can check out their first home from March 2021 .

This time, Tobby and Kaiyi have moved to a cosier 3-room HDB in Geylang Bahru, measuring 732 square feet. One of the first things they did was to remove a wall to allow for more light in the living and dining area. As with their first home, they wanted a raw, industrial look, and everything was self-designed.

One of the most interesting features of the home is the 3.5m kitchen island/dining area. The dining table is made of wood, but in a DIY project, Tobby and Kaiyi used art cement to make it look like a cement table.

#3 Inside A Taiwanese Designer’s HDB Home With A Lovely Open Balcony + Studio (297,000 Views)

There’s something just elegant about Taiwanese-designed interiors, and this one by YaYa and Jun Yao is no different. They have truly transformed this 1,490 square foot 5-room HDB resale into a unique home and studio combo. From the custom metal gate at the entrance, it’s clear that this home is full of distinctive details. They customized the kitchen to make it smaller, but the real showstopper is the serene balcony. Originally, the windows were outside the balcony, so YaYa and Jun Yao removed them and created a balcony that feels like an extension of the home. It’s separated from the main space by foldable glass panels that allow for an open, airy feel.

The size of the home also allowed for a separate studio space, accessible from the balcony, almost like stepping out of your home and into your office. The studio features a custom light from Taiwan and display cabinets to showcase materials.

#2 Inside Kelly Latimer’s Perfectly Crafted Family Shophouse Home In Vibrant Joo Chiat (398,000 Views)

In what was a bit of a departure from the usual Living In style, there’s no doubt that Kelly’s home has struck a chord with many of you. She’s a brilliant host (which has really helped with the tour), but her home is also just a really characterful one, which is really suited for her family’s lifestyle.

All the walls inside the home have been removed, creating an open and expansive living and dining area. The traditional TV console has been replaced with a concrete bench, perfect for sitting and chatting.

Kelly is a keen cook and loves having guests over as well, so the kitchen was designed with her needs in mind. From the height of the console to the accessibility of the spice racks and cabinets, every detail has been thought out. There are even storage spaces for kitchen equipment, allowing them to be hidden away when not in use but still easily accessible.

#1 Inside A Hidden Architect’s Own Family Home That Reveals A Gorgeous Haven (1.7 Million Views)

It’s always so satisfying to hit the million view mark, and it’s something that we never even thought possible to do so quickly when we first started out YouTube channel.

“Open House” is the multi-generation family home of architect couple Gwen and Berlin, one half of the founders of the renowned Formwerkz Architects in Singapore. They designed the home to accommodate their young son and parents, creating an open layout that allows for different living spaces while still preserving privacy for each member of the family.

One of the standout features is the courtyard, which houses a 10-meter tall Memphat tree. Another is the 13-meter long lap pool on the second floor, featuring a circular window built into the wall. The living room offers a glimpse of the pool and has nearly 5-meter tall ceilings, creating a spacious and airy feel.

Our Testimonials

Singapore food tour testimony 1

A walking food tour is one of the very best investments of time wherever you are and this was one of the best. The tour with Leo was fantastic. I won't tell you what we did because that would spoil the surprise of how this tour opens out to make you appreciate Singapore on so many levels. He also introduced us to food that some Singaporean foodie friends had never even heard of. Top marks Leo. When I return I will do it all over again!

Singapore food tour testimony 2

Highly recommend this tour! I've been to a Singapore a few times after this trip and still very much remember everything I learned during my time with Leo (sorry for late review). Not only do you get the taste, but you get to learn about the culture and future of Singapore. A must do for all and great for all ages! 😀

Singapore food tour testimony 3

Leo who led our tour fulfilled many of our needs. He gave a comprehensive account of the development of Singapore, provided us with a range of foodstuffs typical of the country and answered all our questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. By enabling us to spend time (4hrs +) with a citizen of this amazing country we felt we were more than just mere visitors looking around, we felt we were truly engaging with it. Other reviews give an accurate account of what is provided ie a visit to Singapore Gallery, an incredible marketand various places to eat in or near Chinatown. There were only 4 of us on this tour which gave us ample opportunity to ask our many questions that Leo answered fully. A wonderful experience.

Singapore food tour testimony 4

Leo you're amazing! I am so glad that we did this tour at the beginning of our holiday. Leo is so knowledgable and passionate about his country and his enthusiasm is infectious. My husband and I learnt so much about Singapore as it is today and the food was wonderful. Gave us the confidence to tackle the hawker centers and sample some wonderful food during our vacation. Thanks so much Leo!

chinatown-food-tour

We met Leo on a group guided tour of Little India. We were impressed with his knowledge and the diversity of places that we visited in this part of Singapore. He managed to interest and amuse a wide range of ages and nationalities without any problem at all. We returned to the area later that evening in order to pick up on his insider knowledge for food and a hair cut! Having had a public tour with Leo, we then engaged him for a private walking tour of Chinatown. He met us promptly at our hotel and took us at our own pace through the business district (the old Chinatown and waterfront) and into the hustle and bustle of what we now see as Chinatown. We had fascinating and well-informed discussions on everything from exotic cuisine of local dishes through to local government and traffic regulations. My wife and I would highly recommend Leo for guided walking tours of Singapore. He must be commended for his skills in adapting these two walks to my wife's mobility constraints and our interest in social history ~ Paul and Rita Salloway

In Singapore, a bungalow with plenty of interesting geometrical forms

Although it sits on a trapezoidal plot of land, the architects employed innovative solutions to turn the house into a comfortable living space.

The homeowner's brief to the architect was simple: To make sure the spaces have regular shapes, even though the bungalow sits on an irregular plot of land. (Photo: Masano Kawana)

This audio is AI-generated.

Luo Jingmei

Most homeowners would think twice about purchasing an irregular plot, but Phil l ip Chew was unfazed. The trapezoidal land was larger than his former residence so he could build the lap pool he had always wanted.

The retiree, who lives here with his wife and two grown sons, engaged RT+Q Architects to craft the house. Having visited the homes of friends who had engaged the Singapore-based, award-winning firm, he was drawn by the company’s functional and detailed approach.

“I like the plot also because one side is elevated. Initially, I wanted to build a basement but in the end we did not as the pool would have to be raised, and I did not want that,” said Chew. He also appreciates that the higher part of the land abutted a cul-de-sac so there would not be many cars passing by. “It’s especially quiet in the evenings,” he shared.

home tour singapore

Chew told the design team to keep the concept simple and make sure the spaces have regular shapes. “Some houses have interesting exteriors but inside, the rooms are odd-shaped and not usable,” he commented.

Helmed by TK Quek and Rene Tan, RT+Q Architects is prolific in Singapore, having designed more than 100 houses over the past 20 years. In 2023 , the firm released its first monograph titled Rethinking the Tropical House , showcasing 29 of its inventive creations that are designed to work well with the local climate.

The design team , comprising the founders, senior associate Koh Sock Mui and architectural executive Ian Soon, placed two rectangular blocks in a perpendicular layout on the plot. “This allows for the creation of a front garden and rear pool area, both of which can be enjoyed from the living room and study , where the owners work or study from home alongside their two sons. Also, the house was developed during the COVID -19 pandemic lockdown in 2020 so a good study area was foremost in most clients’ minds, including Phi l lip,” said Tan.

home tour singapore

A moon gate marks a formal entry between the car porch and front garden. A stepped water feature follows the sloped topography. “The long, linear water feature visually and aurally guides one from the driveway up the entrance steps towards the door. Thereafter, it runs parallel to the passage through the vaulted entrance door where inside, it demarcates the threshold to the living room and study,” described Tan.

On the other side of the threshold are the dining room , dry and wet kitchens, and a private sitting area. “This formal intersection is marked by a double-height space, traversed by a steel bridge at the second storey,” said Tan. The bridge links three bedrooms to the master bedroom wing on the second storey. Gaps in the architecture reveal this bridge to the exterior, expressing the circulatory workings of the home. Timber screens on the second storey provide privacy in the bedrooms for the family from the street.

home tour singapore

On the attic are a guest bedroom and an entertainment space with a balcony that looks out to green views of the neighbourhood. The owner shared that his sons sometimes have barbecues with their friends there while enjoying the breeze and view. He added that the attic level was designed such that it can be used as a small apartment on its own should one of his sons decide to start a family and live here in the future.

On a regular day, the dry kitchen on the first storey functions as a casual breakfast spot and a bar area by night. “A set of sliding glass doors opens the space towards the swimming pool. A ‘ V ’ profile in the ceiling, finished in Venetian stucco, hints at the presence of a wet kitchen behind the timber-finished walls of the dry kitchen,” Tan pointed out. The wet kitchen is commodious and completed with a hardworking hob from WOLF, as requested by the elder son who enjoys cooking when his friends visit.

home tour singapore

The sloped ceiling design is a way of adding interest to such utilitarian areas. Tan describes the house’s aesthetics as being “Modernist in its outlook but underpinned by a Baroque approach to the shaping of spaces.”

Externally, the massing of the two blocks is lightened with apertures in the facades, giving the volumes a suspended appearance and brightening the interiors. “The house is finished in natural materials both inside and outside. The exterior is clad in yellow granite flooring and the pool deck covered in teak timber. The fa c ade of the building is predominantly fairfaced concrete. Equitone panels on the end walls contrast with corten steel-lookalike tiles on other walls,” Tan shared. On the inside is a mixture of marble, teak and tiles.

home tour singapore

The living room and study are accented with a bright tangerine colour in the joinery. Throughout the house, the design team incorporated small, delightful moments such as this. For example, the powder room and master bathroom have unusual shapes. “The powder room is somewhat ‘landlocked’ and space had to be carved out of residual spaces for the shower. Hence, the challenge was to create something unique out of ‘leftover’ space,” Tan explained.

He took inspiration from ship cabins “where rounded corners ease the tightness of space.” The shower is rounded both in plan and three dimensionally. It is finished entirely in white mosaics. “This provides a clean contrast to the statement-making marble wall in another part of the powder room as well as the customised sink,” Tan explained.

This marble features unique moss-coloured veins that add colour to the space without the need for extraneous decorative elements. The white mosaics also give the shower a monolithic, futuristic character.

home tour singapore

The oval-shaped master bathroom features two sinks and water closets, positioned mirror image across an operable window in the centre that draws attention to verdant views outside while letting in natural light and ventilation.

“The shape of the master bedroom is inspired by the Baroque approach to geometry and symmetry in shaping and creating unique spaces. The central vanity is circular with customised circular sinks carved out of Sofitel gold marble,” Tan elaborated.

Another circular element comes in the form of an outdoor spiral staircase made from porous stainless steel that links the master bedroom to the pool below, providing quick access for Chew and his wife to their daily swim ming workout without having to detour to the main staircase.

home tour singapore

“It also lends a sculptural quality to what is probably the most visible corner of the plot, which faces the road junction,” Tan highlighted. Extending the sides and roof of the block beyond the window line creates a canopy, which shelters the staircase and deck from sun and rain to a certain extent .

The main staircase inside the house also has perforated metal accents alongside the main timber thread and riser component. Below the staircase is a curious-looking round door leading, surprisingly, to the back of house.

“We wanted to activate the often-overlooked dead space below a staircase landing by puncturing through the wall and creating a shortcut to the serviced areas behind. This has the added advantage of opening the central space up to the greenery of the side garden behind the staircase,” said Tan.

home tour singapore

This idea of ‘apertures’ is carried through in other parts of the house, such as the powder room, and living room-cum-study partition . It allows for air flow and spatial connection “so that even enclosed spaces are not completely isolated from the rest of the house”.

In the latter, this refers to two doors between the living area and study to create a fluid spatial loop. The same flow is mirrored between the dry and wet kitchen. This reflects the importance of a functional house, or the house as a “machine for living” as quoted by the famous architect Le Corbusier.

Even the garden was designed as such – functional and a visual respite. Said Tan : “The landscaping was designed to screen views of a neighbouring substation as well as overcome privacy concerns due to the steeply sloped road behind. Thus, the edges of the plot are lushly planted. Trees with bright flowers reflect the owners’ preference for vibrant colour whil e care was taken to specify plants with overhanging leaves to soften the planters’ edges.”

This, he shares, is his favourite part of the entire home, “stepping through the moon gate at the driveway and seeing the thriving trees in the front garden, accompanied by the sound of running water. Like most projects, we conceived of the gardens and patios first before the actual house; in this case, we gave the best part of the land to the pool and courtyard.”

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour: So make the friendship bracelets and display them nicely too

home tour singapore

SINGAPORE – “So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it,” American pop star Taylor Swift urges listeners in her song You’re On Your Own Kid, off her album Midnights (2022).

This has become a mantra for the singer-songwriter’s legion of fans, who make, buy and trade friendship bracelets at Swift’s record-breaking The Eras Tour concerts.

In Singapore, where Swift performed six sold-out shows at the National Stadium from March 2 to 9, bead and craft shops enjoyed a business boost. Queues were reported at the best-known shops at the otherwise sleepy People’s Park Centre in the last days of February.

But with Swift long gone from Singapore – she reportedly flew back to the United States within hours of closing out her final show on March 9 – “Swifties” are wondering what to do with their friendship bracelets.

Fortunately, they can take a cue from fellow fans who have already grappled with this dilemma after attending Eras Tour concerts in the US in 2023, and Australia and Japan in February.

The Straits Times rounds up seven fun and creative design ideas to display your friendship bracelets and commemorate your concert experience.

1. Shadow box

home tour singapore

Shadow boxes, also known as memory boxes, are display cases or three-dimensional scrapbook pages that can hang on a wall.

For a box themed around your own Eras Tour concert experience, toss in your friendship bracelets along with the light-up bracelet that every attendee received.

Along with these bracelets and other bits and bobs, Singapore-based TikTok user iiiceskate adds a clipping of her printed ticket, and photos of herself and her friends.

@iiiceskate ❥* I had the time of my life with you ~ ~ * 💓🖼️ . . . #SingaporeTStheErasTour #TSTheErasTour #TheErasTour #TaylorSwift #เทเลอร์สวิฟต์ #swiftie #friendshipbracelets #bracelets #shadowbox #memories #memoriesframe #fyp ♬ Long Live by Taylor Swift - Marynne

But you can also decorate the backboard with a single large photograph or a collage of smaller ones, or even keep it plain.

Another TikTok user, dumbblondetswiftlover, packs her shadow box with items from her VIP merchandise box, such as the commemorative ticket and lanyard.

She also uses leftover beads to add the city and venue of her concert: Accor Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Online shopping platforms including Amazon Singapore, Shopee and Lazada offer boxes in multiple shapes, sizes and colours. On Shopee, prices start at $6.10 for a black model that measures 4 by 6 inches (about 10cm by 15cm).

Local Swiftie merch makers itsnewyearsday.com and fromthevaultsg.com are selling DIY Shadow Box Kits priced between $25 and $35. Choose from itsnewyearsday.com’s A4-size or fromthevaultsg.com’s square (25cm by 25cm) white frames. Each comes with decorative paper and various extras, such as “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour” transparent decals.

Info: Go to itsnewyearsday.com or fromthevaultsg.com

2. Light-up mason jar

@marcopaulo922 Here’s how I display my friendship bracelets from The Eras Tour. Please let me know what you think 🩷 #TSTheErasTour #TaylorSwift #swiftie #DIY ♬ original sound - cuptenperry - cuptenperry

For something simpler and cheaper than the shadow box, here is a fun and easy hack from TikTok user marcopaulo922, who attended an Eras Tour concert in Tokyo.

First, place bracelets around a transparent cup or cylindrical jar – and then slide that entire jar inside another, larger jar.

If you saved your light-up wristband from the concert, you can place it inside the smaller vessel. Alternatively, use battery-operated fairy lights for the same effect.

After replacing the lid of the larger jar, tie the ribbon from the light-up bracelet as a final finishing touch.

You can use plastic or glass jars, which are sold in multiple makes and sizes in retail outlets such as Daiso and SKP.

3. Stage-shaped holder

home tour singapore

Crafter MagicalByMarissa on Etsy has designed a wooden bracelet stand shaped like the Eras Tour stage – including the diamond- and T-shaped portions. The stand includes motifs representing each of Swift’s 10 albums to date.

The bracelet stand is roughly 20 by 35cm in size and comes in unfinished birch (about $54) and finished cherry variants (about $84). For a few extra dollars, you can get the “diamond” portion personalised with the date and city of your concert, and the titles of the “surprise songs” that Swift performed.

If you are handy with a craft knife, you can make your own stand using materials such as foam or corrugated boards. There are plenty of silhouette references for the stage online – look up “Eras Tour stage shape”.

4. Christmas ornament

home tour singapore

It is never too early to start thinking about that most wonderful time of the year: Christmas. Reddit user lgfruitylicious shares this simple and effective way of combining Swiftie fandom and the holiday season with a friendship bracelet-filled Christmas ornament.

Searching “transparent plastic Christmas ball” on Lazada and Shopee throws up a variety of fillable ornaments, from as little as $1.50 for a 100ml ball.

Use acrylic paints or markers, ribbons and stickers to further spruce up your Swiftie ornament. You can also make ornaments in colourways corresponding to different Swift albums, also referred to as her musical eras – red for the Red era, and so on.

5. Heart-hands sculpture

home tour singapore

This next idea will resonate with those who particularly enjoy the pop star’s second album, Fearless.

While performing the titular track during the Eras Tour, Swift always takes a moment to make the shape of a heart with her hands.

@sunrisevalleyfarm.co This is for all my Swifties out there! 🫶🏼 If you’ve got friendship bracelets from the Eras Tour, don’t just throw them in a drawer and forget about them, display them instead! All of the clock app swifties told me to get this but I wanted her to be a bit extra, so I painted on the classic @Taylor Swift 13! Heart hands linked in my Amazon storefront (in my bio) under “Decor!” . . . #tstheerastour #theerastour #taylorswift #taylorswifterastour #taylornation #taylorswiftdiy #diy #swifties #swiftie #friendshipbracelets #amazon #amazonhome #yoyok #makethefriendshipbracelets #easydiy #braceletdisplay #jewelrydisplay #crafts #easycrafts #taylorswifttheme #taylorswift13 #taylorswiftcrafts #swifttok #swifttoker #swifttoks @Taylor Nation ♬ original sound - Ana O

In a sweet tribute to this moment, TikTok user SunriseValleyFam.Co uses a heart-hands sculpture to organise and display her bracelets. She follows another popular Swiftie tradition by painting Swift’s lucky number “13” on one hand.

Sellers on Amazon Singapore, Shopee and Lazada have listings for heart-hands sculptures, starting at around $20. Acrylic paint from craft stores such as Art Friend or Spotlight should work well, if you want to add your own lucky “13” motif.

6. Birdhouse-turned-Lover House

@reaganbaylee DIY LOVER HOUSE 🥲💁🏼‍♀️🩷🌈✨ This would be SUCH a creative gift for anyone who attended the Eras Tour or is a big time Swiftie - I’m storing my friendship bracelets inside 😊‼️ ➡️ Sticker is from nowhitespacestickers (ig) and will be restocked SOON!! ❤️ #swifties #erastour #taylornation #taylorswift #loverhouse #friendshipbracelets #swifttok ♬ Lover - Taylor Swift

For fans who identify as “Lover girlies” – that is, fans of Swift’s sixth album, Lover, released in 2019 – here is an idea that incorporates the motif of the Lover House, which first appeared in Swift’s music video for the title track.

The Lover House made its return during the Eras Tour and has become a popular motif among fans, because each of its rooms represents each of Swift’s 10 albums.

TikTok user reaganbaylee cleverly converts a plain plastic birdhouse into the Lover House using a glittery vinyl decal purchased from online sticker and accessories store No White Space ( nowhitespacestickers.com ).

Of course, you can paint your own design, or print and paste using craft glue such as ModPodge.

You can acquire your own “template” house from e-commerce sites such as Lazada, Shopee and Amazon Singapore – just search “plastic birdhouse”.

7. Folklore cabin

home tour singapore

Another distinctive set piece of the Eras Tour is the Folklore cabin, inspired by Swift’s eighth album of the same name, which dropped amid the Covid-19 pandemic in July 2020.

“We’ve brought the Folklore cabin to Singapore,” Swift said every night at her Singapore concerts, after starting the Folklore set by singing its first track, the 1, while draped on the cabin’s roof.

Thanks to Swifties Kat Baranowska and Alice S., you can have the cabin in your own home. The crafty duo have designed and produced miniature Folklore cabins, which they sell on their website and Etsy store, TorturedPoetsDept.

The cabins come in mini and grand sizes (about 15 by 6 by 7.5cm, and 30 by 20 by 15cm), and you can choose either the plastic or wood version.

home tour singapore

Prices start at $31.99 for a mini plastic cabin, while delivery to Singapore costs another $34. Use discount code SGSHIPPING for free shipping to Singapore or SGFOLKLORE for 13 per cent off a cabin. Discount codes are available while stocks last.

For any lucky soul who received a marriage proposal during the concert, there is also a tiny cabin designed specially for engagement rings. Send a private message to the store on Etsy to inquire about prices. You can also commission special add-ons for your mini or grand cabins, such as a tiny chandelier or piano.

Info: Buy the cabin at taylorsneighbours.com or on Etsy at str.sg/ua5F

Bonus: Fun uses for leftover beads

home tour singapore

If you made your own friendship bracelets, you may also be wondering what to do with your leftover beads – that is, beyond making more bracelets for events such as the April 19 release of Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department.

How about friendship bracelet-inspired kicks?

Italian sneaker brand Superga recently offered a Swiftie-themed customisation service at its Singapore stores, where customers could redeem a free shoelace and up to 20 beads with every purchase, to decorate their shoes. The service is no longer available, but it will be easy enough to emulate the idea if you have beads and a pair of sneakers in need of a glow-up.

If you are handy with a sewing machine – or with a needle and thread – you can consider stitching up some bracelet-inspired scrunchies. For reference, check out these adorable ones made by local scrunchie maker scrunchiesbydane on Instagram.
