The tourist part of Las Vegas is quite small and can be explored on foot without a problem. However, remember that you are in the Nevada desert, and temperatures can reach 120 ºF. I’m sure that, for long distances, you’ll prefer to avoid walking, so I’m also giving you a map of the Las Vegas monorail.

Navigating the Las Vegas Strip can be confusing, especially if it’s your first time visiting Sin City. So, I created this Vegas Strip map to help you find your way around the Strip. Feel free to download and print it out below.

All the major hotels and casinos on the Strip are included on this 3D map. I even threw in a few of the major hotels that are a block or two off the Strip.

It’s important to note that the distance between each casino is greater than it appears. The Las Vegas Strip is over 4 miles long, and it takes OVER AN HOUR to walk end to end.

On your next visit to Sin City, make sure to save this Las Vegas map.

Las Vegas Strip Hotel Locations Explained

The Vegas Strip is mainly divided into three large sections that will help you navigate it when walking or planning your trip. Let’s go over each one:

Las Vegas South Strip Section

Let’s start with the south section as this is the part closest to the airport and what you would call the ” begining of the strip ” when you drive into town from the airport or the Los Angeles general direction.

The south part of the strip officially starts at the Mandalay Resort and goes north to Planet Hollywood. Here are the hotels you will find on the South Las Vegas Strip:

Four Seasons Hotel

Mandalay Bay

Luxor Hotel and Casino

Signature at MGM Grand

New York New York

Waldorf Astoria

Vdara Resort

Delano Las Vegas

Bally’s Las Vegas

Excalibur hotel

MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel

ARIA Resort

Planet Hollywood

Las Vegas Middle Strip Section

The Middle part of the Strip is right after you pass Planet Hollywood going north until you reach the Palazzo hotel. Let’s see which hotels are located on the Middle Las Vegas Strip:

The Cromwell hotel

The LINQ Hotel

Venetian Hotel

Cosmopolitan

Horseshoe Las Vegas

Caesars Palace

Treasure Island

The Palazzo

Las Vegas North Strip Section

The North part of the Strip starts when you pass the Palazzo hotel and move on further north, on this part you can see newer hotels and less crowds. Let’s see which hotels are located on the North part of the Strip:

Circus Circus

Resorts World

Fontainebleau Resort Casino – Will open Late 2023

Sahara Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas Map (Fremont Street)

Many people prefer the casual atmosphere of Downtown Las Vegas to the glitz and glamour of the Strip. And I don’t blame them! The Strip can get overwhelming sometimes. Plus, the table minimums are much lower downtown, making for a better gambling experience.

There are about a dozen major casinos in Downtown Las Vegas, most of them located on Fremont Street. I added all of them to the map down below. You can also download and print a larger version of the Downtown Las Vegas map here .

las vegas tourist map printable

If you haven’t visited Downtown Las Vegas, I highly recommend you check it out. There are plenty of things to do in the area besides gambling. Plus, Downtown is much less expensive than the Strip. Most attractions cost less than $30. To see all the fun things that you could be doing in Downtown Las Vegas, check the blog post I put together here.

Las Vegas Transit Maps

You may want to save time by riding the Las Vegas Monorail. If you do plan on taking the monorail, check out the transit maps below.

All the major monorail stations are displayed on the map, so you can easily find them. Again, you’re free to download or print the map out. These resources were created to help people navigate the city more efficiently. Here are the stations featured on the map from north to south:

  • SAHARA Las Vegas Station
  • Westgate Station
  • Las Vegas Convention Center Station
  • Harrah’s/The LINQ Station
  • Flamingo/Caesars Palace Station
  • Bally’s/Paris Station
  • MGM Grand Station

Map of the hotels, casinos and monorail stations on the Las Vegas Strip.

Download Las Vegas Monorail Map

The monorail costs $5 for a 1-ride ticket or $13 for a 24-hour pass . There are also trams that run on the opposite side of the Strip. The trams operate on 3 separate circuits, so they don’t run all the way up the Strip. But they are completely free and offer a second transportation option. I’ll provide a map and list the circuits below:

  • Aria Express Tram: Aria, Shops at Crystals & Park MGM
  • Mandalay Bay Tram: Mandalay Bay, Luxor & Excalibur
  • Mirage-Treasure Island Tram: Mirage & Treasure Island

(This map is interactive, so you can zoom in to get a closer look at all of the stops.)

If you plan on going deeper into the city, Las Vegas also offers a bus option. The Deuce is the most popular and economical bus in Las Vegas. You can purchase a 2-hour pass for $6 , a 24-hour pass for $8 , or 3-day pass for $20 . I’ll include a map of the bus route down below.

las vegas tourist map printable

If you’re unfamiliar with the Deuce Bus, then you’ll definitely want to check out the in-depth post I wrote here (you can download the Deuce Bus map on that page).

In that post I also included an interactive map of the Downtown Loop Bus route. You’ll want to use that bus if you plan on visiting Downtown Las Vegas.

Can You Walk The Entire Las Vegas Strip?

When most people refer to “the Strip,” they are talking about the 4-mile stretch that extends from Mandalay Bay at the southern end, all the way to The Strat (formerly Stratosphere) at the northern end.

It takes about an hour and a half to walk the entire Strip end to end. In fact, I don’t recommend that you walk the entire length of the Strip. I would only walk as far north as the Wynn. The stretch between the Wynn and the Stat is pretty empty. It’s much easier to just take a cab (or Uber/Lyft) the rest of the way north. The monorail is an option too.

However, you can walk the lower part of the Strip. If you walk non-stop from Mandalay Bay (southern end) to the Wynn (northern end), it will take about 45 minutes. As I mentioned earlier, the casinos are further away than they appear. When looking at a map they seem deceptively close. Just keep that in mind.

Important Things To Know In Las Vegas

These maps should help you find your way around town. However, knowing where everything is will only get you so far. If you don’t know what each resort has to offer, you’ll still be wasting a ton of time wondering around the city. It pays to know which casinos are worth visiting, and which ones are best avoided.

To help you avoid making the same mistakes I made my first time visiting Las Vegas, I put together several travel guides (linked below).

Each one walks you through valuable time and money saving hacks. Hopefully they will help you get the most out of your Vegas vacation…

Maps of best attractions in Las Vegas, USA

Las Vegas maps will guide you to the best destinations in this entertaining city. Most visitors never leave the Strip at all, except perhaps for a day-trip to the Grand Canyon, and many barely explore beyond their own hotel and its immediate neighbours. Each of these monsters is much more than a mere hotel or casino. They're extraordinary places, self-contained fantasy lands of high camp and genuine excitement that can stretch as much as a mile from end to end. As well as luxurious accommodation, each holds half a dozen or more high-class restaurants, a lavish theatre or two, an array of swimming pools, several bars and nightclubs, and perhaps a roller-coaster or gallery or aquarium. Navigating your way through the sensory overload that is Sin City without exhausting yourself should be a priority; you are, after all on vacation. All you need to ensure an enjoyable trip to Las Vegas is some advance planning using our detailed maps. Then, just walk out onto the Strip and wonder at the delirious architecture, with appropriated landmarks like the Eiffel Tower at Paris and the Sphinx at Luxor. Get your camera ready for the delightful dancing waters of the Fountains at Bellagio and the lava-spewing drama of the Mirage Volcano; or pull out your wallet and try your luck in one of the dozens of opulent casinos. Our maps will help you find the detailed locations of the must-see sights including Downtown Fremont Street Experience, Stratosphere, Wynn, Venetian, MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, Mandalay Bay, Treasure Island - just click on a selected map to access a high resolution version that can be downloaded and printed; or saved onto your mobile device.

Map of top 10 attractions in Las Vegas

The typical top ten attractions are listed below. You can find the detailed locations of these places on the maps above.

  • Stroll on the Strip after dark - You haven't really seen Las Vegas until you've seen it at night. This neon wonderland is the world's greatest sound and-light show. Begin at Luxor and work your way past the incredible hotels and their attractions. Go all the way to the Stratosphere Tower for a bird's-eye view of the city from more than 1,000 feet up. Make plenty of stops en route to see the Mirage Volcano erupt, take a photo of the full moon over the Eiffel Tower, and marvel at the choreographed water-fountain ballet at Bellagio.
  • Watch the water dance at the Bellagio fountains - This intricately choreographed water ballet would be worth repeated viewings even if they charged to see it. The fact that they don't makes it an almost perfect Vegas experience.
  • Experience the Fremont Street - How do you persuade tourists it's safe to walk the downtown streets at night? Simple – you put a roof over the lot and turn it into a massive light show display. Now you can also fly the Slotzilla zip line just under the Fremont Street roof.
  • See the Volcano eruption - When the free Mirage Volcano first 'erupted' in 1989, shooting flames and faux lava into the sky, it literally stopped traffic on the Strip. That it doesn't today only means that it has more competition for your attention, not that it is any less fun.
  • Play the casino penny slot machine - The interior of each lavish hotel casino is more outrageous and giggle-inducing than the last. Just when you think they can't possibly top themselves, they do. From Venice to Paris, from New York City to the Manhattan-style chic of CityCenter, it is all, completely and uniquely, Las Vegas.
  • Visit one of the 'only in Vegas' museums - Go nuclear at the National Atomic Testing Museum, go naughty at the Erotic Heritage Museum, or get 'made' at the Mob Museum.
  • See the Cirque du Soleil performance - With over five permanent shows on the Strip, and more on the way, the Canadian circus/theatre troupe has transformed Las Vegas entertainment scene.
  • Visit the Grand Canal - There's more to see and do at the Venetian than perhaps any other casino in town, but it's the absurd Grand Canal, with its gondolas, bridges, squares and high-class shops and restaurants, that you'll be telling the folks back home about.
  • Have a breakfast buffet - Whether your tastes run towards the refinement of Wynn Las Vegas or the 1950s kitsch of the Imperial Palace, you can't leave Las Vegas without sampling at least one all-you-can-eat buffet.
  • Get away from it all - Las Vegas can be overwhelming, so be sure to put some time on your itinerary to find your Zen by visiting the Valley of Fire State Park, Red Rock Canyon, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam.
  • Other must-do experiences include: seeing the sharks at the Shark Reef Aquarium; taking the New York-New York roller coaster; partying at the pool; going clubbing, regenerating at the spa.

Las Vegas Strip Map

Las Vegas Strip Map

A map of the Las Vegas Strip shows visitors exactly what to expect while on the Strip. The Las Vegas Strip , also known as Las Vegas Boulevard, is arguably the most popular attraction in the city.

The four-mile stretch is the section between the STRAT tower and Mandalay Bay .

Las Vegas Strip Map, Hotels, Casinos, Resorts, Shops & Stores, Printable

Add to this the pyramids of Egypt at the Luxor hotel and the Roman-inspired Caesars Palace , and it is easy to see why this is a top holiday destination. To help with navigation, it helps to understand that the Vegas Strip is divided into three key sections; the north-strip, the mid-strip, and the south-strip.

The North-Strip is marked by the area between the Wynn Las Vegas and the STRAT. Some of the hotels located on this part of the Strip include the STRAT, Circus Circus, as well as Encore at Wynn Las Vegas .

The Las Vegas mid-Strip is the area that begins south of Sands Avenue and stretches to Planet Hollywood. Popular hotels in the area include the Bellagio , The Palazzo, Harrah’s Las Vegas, The LINQ, as well as the& Flamingo.

To explore the South-Strip, make way to the Planet Hollywood Resort . This part of the Strip begins at the resort and ends south of Mandalay Bay. The South-Strip is best known for the New York – New York Hotel, the MGM Grand, and the Aria Resort .

Away from the hotels, one of the key attractions in the South Strip is the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign. This is the city’s unofficial welcome mat and is a must-visit when in Las Vegas. Whatever attractions you would love to visit, a Las Vegas Strip Map makes planning your next holiday a breeze.

Las Vegas Strip

Las Vegas is renowned for its countless casinos, its reputation as a party town, its bright and colorful neon lights, its fantastic hotels, its theaters, and its plethora of shopping opportunities.

Most of what there is to see in Las Vegas is concentrated along " the Strip ", a 6-kilometre stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard , roughly between the Stratosphere and the Mandalay Bay Hotel. The best way to explore it is on foot with a good pair of shoes, or by taking one of the city buses that run along the Strip between the different attractions.

THE STRAT

Las Vegas

What better way to get to know a new city than with a breathtaking bird's-eye view from high in the sky? That is what you will find at the STRAT , a 350-metre tower that has dominated the Strip since 1979.

The best time to visit is in the evening, when you can marvel at the lights of the city. In addition to enjoying spectacular panoramic views, you can even try one of the heart-stopping rides outside the observation tower... Yes, outside: at the very top of the tower! Not for the faint of heart!

Summit attraction schedules vary.

ADVENTUREDOME

Dventure Dome

Some of the resort's restaurants and bars offer stunning views of the lake.

Las Vegas - Le Bellagio

The Bellagio is one of the most beautiful hotels in Las Vegas, inspired by the Lake Como town of Bellagio in Italy. Next to the hotel lobby, whose ceiling is adorned with hundreds of colourful hand-blown glass flowers , there is a large conservatory housing magnificent floral displays that change with the seasons.

The Bellagio's main attraction is the world-famous sound and light fountain show on the large lake just in front of the hotel. The thoughtfully interwoven spectacle of water, music and light is mesmerizing!

PARIS LAS VEGAS

Paris Las Vegas

This hotel is a Hollywood-style blend of some of the great Paris monuments and attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Musée d'Orsay, the Place de la Concorde fountain, the Louvre and the Paris Opera House.

The hotel houses one of the most beautiful casinos in Las Vegas with its lampposts, Alexandre-III bridge, covered market, cobbled alleys and Fontaine des Innocents.

MANDALAY BAY

Madalay Bay, Las Vegas

For a few extra dollars, you can add the Undersea Explorer VR Experience to your visit.

Mandalay Bay also has a magnificent aquatic playground featuring lush vegetation, a real sandy beach and several swimming pools.

FREMONT STREET

Fremont Street, Las Vegas

Its pedestrian section, between Main Street and 4th , is lined with souvenirs shops and casino hotels, including the oldest casino in downtown Las Vegas, the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino (1906), and other iconic establishments including Binion's Horseshoe (1931), the Golden Nugget (1946) and the Fitzgerald (1980).

You need to go at night to live the Fremont Street Experience – Viva Vision , a sound and light show presented on an immense canopy screen measuring 457 m by 27 m, suspended at a height of 27 metres above the heads of the crowd.

Special events and free concerts are also held there.

"WELCOME TO FABULOUS LAS VEGAS" SIGN

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas

If you prefer to drive, there is a small 12-space parking lot next to the iconic sign. Note that you can only enter the parking lot when heading south on Las Vegas Boulevard (not accessible when driving north). There are no spaces for RVs, but people still pull over and park at the side of the road when possible.

VALLEY OF FIRE

Valley of Fire

The park is renowned for its 3000-year-old prehistoric petroglyphs, its vibrant red and orange sandstone landscapes, and its many geological curiosities of all kinds.

Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour:

Location :  Downtown Las Vegas ( Fremont Street ) Cost :  Free, Self-Guided ( Optional Costs Listed Below ) Start :  Main Street Station Casino End :  The Mob Museum Distance :  1 Mile Time Required :  30 Minutes of Walking ( with stops 1-12 around 4 hours; +90 for Mob Museum; +90 minutes for Neon Museum; + 30 minutes for Mormon Fort ) Fun Scale :  9 out of 10

If you want to get a feel for Old Las Vegas and the and the real roots of the city, you need to head Downtown to Fremont Street.  Under a canopy of modern LED lights, you can still feel the charm and excitement of Vegas’ early day entertainment.  From gambling, drinking, free concerts, hidden historic artifacts, and a mob museum, our self-guided Downtown Las Vegas walking tour map will help make sure you don’t miss a thing on Fremont Street.

Historical Overview Of Downtown Vegas:

There had been Native American tribes in the Las Vegas Valley for thousands of years, but it wasn’t until John Charles Fremont arrived in 1844 that Las Vegas ( Spanish for The Meadows ) was officially on the map.  Fremont not only charted important trails crisscrossing the American West, but also helped reroute the Old Spanish Trail ( established 1829 ) from Santa Fe to Los Angles near an oasis located in today’s Downtown Las Vegas.  Fremont’s mapmaking, the booming California Gold Rush, and the snow-free Western trail through town helped Downtown Las Vegas grow.

With the railroad arriving in 1905, development along Fremont Street straight out from the train station formed Downtown Las Vegas.  The city’s oldest casino ( the Golden Gate from 1906 ) still stands on Fremont Street, but many other things have changed.  Fremont Street became home to many other firsts in Vegas over the years including the 1st phone in 1907, the 1st paved road in 1925, later the 1st traffic light, and city’s 1st neon light at the Overland Hotel in 1928.

There was a bit of a Speakeasy era in Vegas as gambling was outlawed from 1909-1931 ( drinking 1920-1933 ).  Pressure from The Great Depression and an influx of workers building the Hoover Dam ( 1931-1935, originally called Boulder Dam ) forced them to open gambling back up with the first official Nevada gaming license going to Fremont Street’s Northern Club.  With gambling legal again, Fremont Street boomed through mobster influence although the casinos were mainly dingy sawdust-floored Western-themed establishments.

Finally, Downtown started classing up when the Horseshoe became the first casino to get carpeting and new hotels like Binions pushed the limits to bring in more high rollers.  Fremont Street turned into a sea of dizzying neon marquees nicknamed the Glitter Glutch by the 1940s and started adding large casino complexes by the 1950s.  As the only place in America with statewide gambling from 1931-1979, Downtown Las Vegas became a magnet for Hollywood celebrities looking to escape California.

Today the highlights of Downtown Las Vegas still center on Fremont Street with its mixture of vintage touches and modern technological features.  Visitors looking for flares of Americana and old world Vegas will love the historic neon signage, free nightly concerts, cheap drinks, loose slots, and a compact feel of Fremont Street.  Seekers of more modern flair will enjoy not only the zip line that cuts right through Downtown, but also the Fremont Street Experience which is by far Downtown’s main highlight.

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - Main Street Station Casino

About Main Street Station : The railroad-themed Main Station Casino and Brewery serves as a living museum of Casino antiques in the hotel lobby, main gambling flooring, and even outside.  The antiques can be seen 24 hours a day and the front desk has a really handy self-guided maps showing where each one is and explaining it.  By far the coolest artifact in the Main Station is in the men’s bathroom where the urinals are mounted to an actual section of the  Berlin Wall !  The 12-foot-tall Berlin was was 91 miles long and separated Communist East Berlin from West Berlin during the Cold War from 1961 through 1989.

Other antiques include red granite outdoor street lamps which were made in 1870 and sat in Brussels, Belgium until WW1.  Inside the casino, the main chandelier from the Figaro Opera House in Paris, France .and the ones in the Garden Court Buffet were made in the 1850’s for the San Francisco Opera House.  The main gambling room looks like an old Victorian-Era railway station with exceptional stained glass and brass chandeliers from the 1800s.  The carved Mahogany woodwork in on the hotel’s reception desk was originally the inside of a drugstore in Covington, Kentucky over 100 years ago.  Of the same era, the bronze doors and windows at the entrance to the Player’s Club was once the facade of the Kuwait Royal Bank in London, England.  If you search around the second floor there is a large vintage pool table which was used in the hit 1961 movie The Hustler.

The train and railway theme throughout the hotel is very predominate as you follow the walking tour and these elements are best seen in the Pullman rooms.  The Pullman family owned one of the railway car manufacturing companies in the country in the early-1900s.  The massive wooden doors from their Illinois mansion led the way to the Pullman Grille.  The grille feature a fireplace from a castle in Scotland and a complete railway car once owned by  Little Women   author Louisa May Alcott which you can go inside.  The Main Street Station was also once home to the private railway car used by  Buffalo Bill Cody  and Annie Oakley to travel the country in Buffalo Bill’s Old West Show from 1906 to 1917.  Unfortunately, the Buffalo Bill Car was removed in 2017 for the development of a neighboring tower the rest of the antiques at the casino make it worth a stop.

2. Fremont Street Experience :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street Experience Light Show

About The Fremont Street Experience : The intersection of Fremont Street and Main Street is where Las Vegas was first founded in 1905 and is now the marks the beginning of the Fremont Street Experience.  At the foot of this crossroads is the  Plaza Hotel  ( website ), known as the poor man’s casino.  Even if you are not a penny pincher, head to the top of the domed viewing platform before entering the Experience to get a great elevated view down Fremont Street.

It was here at the Plaza Hotel ( formerly Union Plaza ) where the original  Las Vegas train station  ( Salt Lake Depot ) opened in 1905 to service the Clark Line ( later bought by Union Pacific ).  This route connected Salt Lake City to Los Angles and cut the transportation down to just one day, which was a big feat for the time.  This train traffic led to the founding of Las Vegas, the development of Fremont Street ( paved in 1925 ), and all of the entertainment in Sin City.  While an influx of people was visiting Las Vegas during the construction of the Hoover Dam ( 1931-35 ) the ban on gambling ( 1909-1931 ) and drinking ( 1920-1933 ) were lifted which led to a business boom.  By 1940s Fremont Street was a sea of Neon Lights and Fremont became nicknamed the  Glitter Gulch.

The full Fremont Street Experience is seven blocks long but you’re sure to be drawn to the 4-block-long, 90-foot-wide canopy over the street filled with 12.5 million colored LED bulbs called  Viva Vision .  The entire area really comes to life on the top of every hour from 8pm to 1am when Viva Vision turns into a full-on light and video show synced to music on a concert quality sound system.  The light shows themselves are a reason to put Downtown Vegas on your to-do list, but stay a little longer and you’ll find a lot more to love.

Free Light Show :  Daily 8pm-1am at the top of the hour.   Free Live Music :  With 3 stages there is nightly free live music.   360 Degree Photo :  ( HERE ).   Experience Website :  ( HERE ).

3. Golden Gate Casino :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - Golden Gate Casino

About The Golden Gate Casino :  Founded in 1906, the Golden Gate is the oldest casino in Vegas and where it all got started.  As the railroad began to cut through Las Vegas from Salt Lake City to Los Angles, John F Miller started a hotel inside a canvas tent here ( across from the train station ) between 1903-05.  The following year Miller was done with a permanent structure known as the Hotel Nevada ( later the Hotel Sal Sagev ).

In 1907 the first phone in Las Vegas was installed in the busy Hotel Nevada.  Because gambling was made illegal in Nevada in 1909 along with drinking in 1920, the casino had to run underground until the bans were lifted in 1931 and 1933 respectively.  The name was changed to the Golden Gate in 1955 in honor of a group of investors from Oakland California who fronted the money for a large casino expansion in the hotel.

Today the bars are the main attraction at the Golden Gate Casino as they are where Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr drank during the Rat Pack days.  The quality of bartending is just as good today as it was then as the current staff has over 100 bartending championship trophies between them.  An insider tip is that you can get Golden Gate’s renowned, and huge, shrimp cocktails for just $3.99 if you sign up for their free Players Club Card.

4. Cowboy Vic & Vegas Vickie Signs :

About The Vintage Neon Signs :  Make sure to check out the huge  Vegas Vic Cowboy and Vegas Vickie neon signs sitting at Fremont Street’s first covered intersection which are our favorite vintage signs.  The iconic waving Cowboy Vic was added to the Pioneer Club ( 1942-1995 ) in 1951 and his cowgirl partner Vegas Vickie was added to the Glitter Glutch Strip Club ( 1980-2016 ) when it opened in 1980.  Vickie is sometimes incorrectly called Sassy Sally after a strip club that sat next door from 1981 until 1999.

When the Freemont Experience was opened in 1995,  Vic and Vickie were married in a formal ceremony covered by the local newspapers and news stations.  Vickie was removed for restoration in 2017 with plans to bring her back to Fremont Street soon.

Vegas has become known for its dizzying displays of neon lights since the first one was installed at the Oasis Café on Fremont Street in 1929.  This movement helped Downtown Las Vegas become a destination known as the Glitter Gluch and the signs have become an attraction of their own.  More vintage neon signs can be seen later on this Downtown Las Vegas walking tour at Fremont Street East as well as the popular Neon Museum.

5. Golden Nugget Casino :

The Golden Nugget has also frequently been featured in pop culture including being the home of the  World Series of Poker .  The casino was even featured in the Elvis Presley film Viva Las Vegas ( 1964 ) & the James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever ( 1971 ).

6. Binion’s Gambling Hall :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street Binions Gambling Hall

About Binion’s Gambling Hall :  Texas cowboy Benny Binion opened this Casino in 1951 in an effort to class up the neighborhood.  Although it seems outdated now, in its heyday the casino was considered the poshest place to be and forced all the surrounding joints to upgrade.  Binions innovated in other ways than just style when they helped the  World Series of Poker  get off the ground by frequently hosting it at the casino.  This move into televised poker earned Binion’s Gambling Hall ( formerly Binion’s Horseshoe ) the nickname “The Place That Made Poker Famous”.

Binions is also home of the  Million Dollar Photo  ( website ), which is the best photo op in Las Vegas!!  In the Casino’s Player’s Club, you can have your photo taken with the Binions girls and a stack of ONE MILLION DOLLARS in cash!  The huge pile of money is made up of 34,400 $20 bills and 42,000 $1 bills.  The Million Dollar Photo has actually been an attraction at the casino going back to the 1950s and from 1964-1998 the stack was made up of 100 $10,000 bills.  Although the photo opt is free, you are only allowed to go to the Player’s Club if you are 21+ and it is open from 9am-11:30pm.

7. Fremont Casino :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street Casino Drinks

About The Fremont Casino :  This was one of casino mogul Sam Boyd’s first properties and has some of the best food and drink deals around.  When it opened in 1956 over the site of the former Masonic Temple Opera House ( 1908-1912 ), the Fremont Casino was the tallest building in Nevada.  In 1959 Wayne Newton got his start in Las Vegas at the Fremont in its Carnival Lounge.  This was also one of four casinos ( the only one Downtown ) run by Frank Rosenthal for the mob from Chicago in the 1970s.  Rosenthal’s notorious career ( 1968-1982 ) in Vegas inspired Martin Scorsese’s famous 1995 movie Casino starring Robert De Niro.

Tourists and locals both love the amazing drink specials at the Fremont Casino’s bars including  $1.99 Margaritas .  The food specials are awesome too with a $15.99 prime rib dinner served with a baked potato and buffet on Sunday, Monday, and Thursdays from 4-10pm.  On Wednesdays and Saturdays, they have the same amazing deal but with steak instead of prime rib.  If you are looking for accommodations the Fremont Casino has very nice rooms starting under $40 a night when booked online and more basic rooms as low as $29 a night.

8. Four Queens Casino :

In front of the Four Queens Casino is the main stage for the free Downtown Rocks concert series from May through September each year run by the Fremont Experience.  The hotel isn’t the nicest, but they have clean basic rooms as low as $23 on weekdays and $48 on weekends.

9. The “ D ” Casino :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - The D Casino Best Hotel Rooms

About The D Casino :  This property was formerly called Fitzgerald’s Casino which was considered to be one of the luckiest casinos in Vegas.  Fitzgerald’s was Irish themed with shamrocks and a leprechaun.  Keeping the charm alive, The D Casino even has a large stone from Blarney Castle in Ireland on display which you can kiss for good luck.  Maybe the coolest gambling here is the oval multi-player Sigma Derby slot machine which is a vintage horse racing game that is fun even if you don’t win.

If you are considering staying on Fremont during your visit, The D is the nicest place to stay in Downtown Las Vegas by a mile.  The modern hotel rooms are posh and very hip yet still offers an excellent value even though it is a little more to stay here than the other basic hotels Downtown.  Even if you aren’t staying at The D, very we love their Long Bar ( it’s very long ) and the VUE Bar where you are able to go upstairs and get great views of Fremont Street .  In case you were wondering the name D stands for Downtown, Derek ( the owner is Derek Stevens ), and Detriot ( Derek ‘s hometown ).

11. Heart Attack Grill :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - Heart Attack Grill Burger Nurses Best Restaurant

About The Heart Attack Grill :  The main attraction of the Neonopolis Mall is the highly entertaining Heart Attack Grill.  Known for their greasy food and costumed nurse waitresses that will spank you in front of the other guests if you don’t finish your meal, the Heart Attack Grill is truly unique.

Claiming to be fighting anorexia since 2005, you eat for free if you are over 350 pounds and the restaurant’s spokesman really did die of a heart attack.  The milkshakes are very rich at the Heart Attack Grill and all of the food is cooked in lard.  Their Quadruple Bypass Burger was ranked by the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most calories in a burger with 9983.  Since then, the Heart Attack Grill has gone even bigger with the Octuplet Burger.  This monster has 8 patties ( 4 pounds of meat ) between layers of chili and 40 pieces of bacon.  If you can eat the entire Octuplet Burger you get paraded out by the nurses in a wheelchair when you leave, but if you fail to finish you get spanked on the butt with a paddle.

Putting the Heart Attack Grill’s hospital theme over the are jello shots served in syringes and wine dripped from hanging bags like they are IVs.  They even give your entire group hospital gowns to wear while you eat.  While the Heart Attack Grill may be the least healthy restaurant you will ever visit, remember that you are in Sin City, a place where being a gluten and overindulging are fully acceptable.  We heard the calories you eat in Vegas stay in Vegas…

Also part of the Neonopolis Mall, we really love the axe, knife, and spear throwing at Ax Hole ( website ).  Fairly new to the mall is the thrilling  Fear the Walking Dead Experience ( website ) which is part maze and part interactive game.  The shopping at Neonopolis Mall isn’t anything special, but there are two really good Premium Outlet Malls ( website ) in Las Vegas with many high-end shops you won’t find in most outlet malls.  One is nearby and connected to Downtown by bus and the other is near the bus depot on the way to the airport.  There is also a really famous World’s Largest Souvenir Shop ( website ) just to the south of here at the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd and Sahara Ave,

12. Fremont East District :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - Fremont East District Neon Signs

About The Fremont East District :  This far eastern end of Fremont Street is a great place to see what the original Downtown Las Vegas area looked like more than 50 years ago.  While the other end of street saw its businesses grow into tall towers in the 1950s then covers with the LED canopy in 1995, Fremont East is like an untouched time capsule .

Many visitors in search of the real Old Vegas like to gamble at Fremont East’s  El Cortez Casino which was built in 1941 and is one of the only properties that hasn’t had a significant renovation since 1952.  New York mobster Bugsy Siegel bought El Cortez in 1945, but the city refused him an expansion permit because of his ties to organized crime.  This denial led to Siegel ( murdered in 1947 ) investing in the development of the Flamingo Casino on the Las Vegas Strip which is outside the city limits.  The move also let the mobster know that Downtown Las Vegas wanted to be a little more respectable.

We love the cluster of vintage neon signs in Fremont East.  These historic neon signs include a retro Vegas sign, Oscar’s Martini Glass, the Hacienda Horse and Rider, the Red Slipper, a Showgirl, and a 30-foot-tall can of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.  A majority of the signs were originally built by built by Yesco ( Young Electric Sign Company, a famous Vegas sign-making company ) and you can see a ton more at the Neon Museum & Boneyard later on this Downtown Las Vegas walking tour.

13. The Mob Museum :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - The Mob Museum

About The Mob Museum :  Amazing 3 story museum highlight the artifacts, culture, and history of notorious gangster life from the early years of Las Vegas.  One of the most famous mobsters was Bugsy Siegel, who was the primary force driving the development of Las Vegas as both gambling and booze became illegal in most of the United States.  Mobsters like Bugsy wanted to create an escape from prohibition with glitzy luxury hotels, restaurants, shows and adult indulgences they couldn’t get anywhere else.  The Mob’s influence shaped the city’s earliest development and played a role in its ultimate evolution as the Entertainment Capital of the World.  The Mob Museum does a great objective job of telling both sides of each story they tell whether it’s of rival gangs or both the mobsters and police.

One of the highlights of the museum is the actual  Valentine’s Day Massacre Wall , moved here from Chicago, where Al Capone had members of his rival North Street Irish Gang executed in 1929.  Bugs Moran was the leader of the North Street Irish Gang and had been trying to take Capone and his South Side Italian Gang out for years.  The two groups had run-ins and assassination attempts on each other all over the country but the events of February 14th, 1929 are the most famous.

Capone and his friend Jack “Machine Gun” McGurn came up with a plan to wipe out Moran’s entire gang.  The two men had a 3rd party set up a whiskey sale, but when Moran’s gang showed up they were greeted by the cops.  This wasn’t an uncommon thing to happen so when the cops asked the men to turn around a face the wall for questioning they did.  Unknown to Moran’s gang, the cops where actually imposters in a stolen squad car and unloaded their guns on the gangsters once they turned their backs.  The fake cops pretending to be arrested two of their cohorts when they left in case anyone was watching so they could make their getaway.

When the smoke cleared Bugs Moran wasn’t among the dead, because he had been running late and was scared off by the cop car as he was pulling in.  Although Moran lived, Capone had struck a fatal blow to the North Street Irish Gang.  The company who owned the warehouse through the bullet hole filled wall was bad luck and had it tore down, but a Chicagoland businessman snatched up the bricks in hopes of displaying the wall in a future restaurant he planned on building.  The restaurant never came to be and when the businessman died the bricks found a new home and were re-assembled in the Las Vegas Mob Museum.

Beyond St. Valentine’s Massacre Wall there are hours of activities to keep you entertained at the Mob Museum.  The activities are so wide-ranging that you definitely won’t get bored.  We love shooting the  replica Tommy Gun  and they also have some great exhibits highlighting which mobsters were connected to different Vegas Casinos and another interactive one where you can listen to the  actual wiretaps  the U.S. Government used to bust the Mob operations.  With its great exhibits, The Mob Museum has gained the title National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.

In addition to the excellent museum, they also have a Crime Lab Experience where you get to hands-on in a crime laboratory. You will explore the work of crime scene investigators, fingerprint analysts, DNA profilers, ballistics experts and medical examiners who determine why a crime was committed and secure information relevant to the case.  A second special hands-on experience the Mob Museum offers is the Use of Force Training .  You will get placed in the shoes of law enforcement officers and exposes them to the types of training exercises officers undergo to be prepared for use-of-force situations.  As part of this training your get to use a CO2 pistol and gun belt while responding to real or perceived threats with “deadly” force.

Hours :  Sunday-Wednesday 9am-10pm; Thursday-Saturday 10am-Midnight.   Cost : $26.95; $33.95 with the Crime Lab Experience; $38.95 with the Use of Force Training; or $41.95 for all three.  They have discounts for locals, kids, militarty, and seniors.  Combo tickets deals available with the Neon Museum and the High Roller Ferris Wheel.   Museum Website :   HERE .

About Atomic Liquors :  Four blocks further down Fremont Street from the Heart Attack Grill is the Atomic Liquors Bar, the  oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas .  Joe and Stella Sobchik had started Virginia’s Cafe here during WW1 in 1945, then saw their opportunity to become a tourist attraction as Vegas was booming thanks to nearby nuclear testing.  In the 1950s there were total there were 100 above-ground nuclear tests ( 828 more underground ) just 65 miles away from Las Vegas in Yucca Flats.  After getting their tavern license in 1952, Atomic Liquors Bar began having rooftop  mushroom cloud viewing parties .  Not yet knowing the dangers of nuclear fallout and radiation, these viewing parties in the 1950s were huge hits and gave Atomic Liquors fame that has lasted the test of time.

In its heyday, Atomic Liquors had a local clientele bolstered by regular visits from celebrities looking to avoid the attention they attracted on the Strip or Downtown Las Vegas.  The likes of the Rat Pack, Barbara Streisand, the Smothers Brothers, Clint Eastwood and other notable characters could be seen enjoying their favorite beverage and playing a friendly game of pool after their shows or productions.  In pop-cultural, Atomic Liquors has been featured in The Twilight Zone  as well as the movies  Casino and The Hangover .  We can’t get enough of Atomic Liquors’ atmosphere, signature cocktails, crisp craft beers, and outdoor beer garden-style patio.

About The Neon Museum :  The first neon sign in Las Vegas was put up in 1928 at the Overland Hotel on Fremont Street.  The use of neon signs boomed and Sin City, especially Downtown, became a sea of neon through the 1980s.  As aging casinos were replaced in the 1990s many of them moved away from neon to a crazy of individually themed casinos like Caesar’s Palace.  As LCD and LED signage became available the old neon were disregarded at an even faster pace.

Seeing the culture of neon disappearing, the Allied Arts Council formed the  Neon Museum  in 1996 ( expanded in 2017 ) and started an effort to save an important piece of Las Vegas history.  The group worked with  Young Electric Sign Company  ( YESCO ) who had originally manufactured many of the neon signs in Las Vegas.  Some of the signs have been fully resorted and placed back into the Las Vegas landscape including a collection of them near the Neonopolis on Fremont Street which includes the Hacienda Horse and Rider sign.  Other signs have been placed right in the middle of Las Vegas Blvd including the Binion’s Horseshoe, the Bow & Arrow Motel sign, and the Silver Slipper which sits in front of the Neon Museum.

Today the Neon Museum has a visitor center inside the retro lobby of the former La Concha Motel and a 2-acre display yard known as the Boneyard.  While you can see a few of the signs peeking over the boneyard’s fence, taking the official tour is the only way to really see them up close for the full experience.  Before you even take the tour you know it’s going to be awesome from the giant high heel street lamp to the eclectic mix of signs.  The standard tour last one hour, takes you through a staged collection of 120 signs, and includes some very entertaining stories of the of the vintage sign fossils.  There is a great mix of urban decay and bright colors among the massive neon skeletons that will make your photographs really pop.  If you are looking for more private time with the photos you can submit a request for a photo or video shoot.

Guided Tours :  The Boneyard is   available to the public through a one-hour-long guided tour or as general admission.    Brilliant! , a 30-minute show, uses light projection to illuminate unrestored signs and incorporates music and archival footage to transport guests into Las Vegas’ history.  Availability varies and is based on the season.   Cost :  $19 for the Daytime tour; $28 for Night tour; $23 for Brilliant; $42 for Night tour + Brilliant.   Location :  770 Las Vegas Blvd North.   Museum Website :   HERE .

16. The Old Mormon Mission Fort :

Free Downtown Las Vegas Walking Tour Map Fremont Street - old mormon mission fort

About The Old Mormon Mission :  Spanish explorers were in Nevada by 1776 and had even established their Old Spanish Trail ( Santa Fe to Las Angles ) with 100 miles of the Las Vegas.  By 1848, military man and mapmaker John C Fremont added the oasis in Las Vegas to is famous writings which later helped the Mormons and other settlers.  In 1847, the Mormons were pushed from Santa Fe to Salt Lake City but still wanted to connect to the snow-free route to the West and used Fremont’s findings to chart the path Southwest.

In 1855, thirty members of the LDS Church built a small adobe mission fort at the Las Vegas oasis to help link Salt Lake City with Los Angels.  The oasis creek was a prime location as it was the only free-flowing water in the valley which had led Spanish explorers to nickname the area Las Vegas ( The Meadow ).  This Mormon fort was the first permanent, non-Native settlement in the Las Vegas Valley although Native Americans had been in the area for thousands of years.  The 150-foot-long, two-story-tall, square fort served as a re-stocking point, a base camp to try to start a community, and saw traffic from people heading to California for the Gold Rush.

Due to conflicts with local Native American tribes, poor crop harvests, and low mining yields, Mormon Fort was abandoned in 1857.  As more settlers arrived to Las Vegas the old fort was used as a store and a ranch.  Helen Stewart ( nicknamed The First Lady of Las Vegas ) ranch for 18 years before selling land that would become Downtown Las Vegas to the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad ( Clark Line ) in 1902.  The remains of the Mormon Fort and oasis creek were turned into a state park in 1991 and is an interesting place to learn more about the city’s roots.  Next to the old Mormon Fort is the popular Natural History Museum ( website ) which is great with kids.

The  Big Shot  gives you maximum height starting 920 feet but then shoots you 160 feet straight up the mast of the Tower to a scary 1080 feet.  The last thrill is the World’s highest bungee jump called the  SkyJump  where you jump from the 108th Floor!  This hotel is a great place to catch the connecting city bus if going to the northern outlet mall.  It is extremely questionable neighborhood to walk at night, you will see a few crackheads.

Getting Around on The Strip (Transportation)

Getting around in Las Vegas isn’t too difficult. Unlike many cities, where the points of interest are spread all over, Vegas has the majority of its entertainment and resorts centrally located along the few miles of the Strip.

Walking, using the monorail, rideshares, trams, and even the city bus can get you up and down the Strip with ease.

Trams and Monorail (Map)

The Las Vegas Monorail operates along a 3.9-mile elevated system on the east side of Las Vegas Blvd. This convenient service allows you to avoid the busy Strip traffic and arrives at each of the seven stations every four to eight minutes.

The monorail stations include:

  • Horseshoe/Paris
  • Flamingo/Caesars Palace
  • Harrah’s/The LINQ
  • Boingo Station at LV Convention Center

las vegas strip monorail map showing hotel stations

You can download the  official map here as a PDF.

Additionally, there are a few free trams connecting hotels on the west side of the Strip. These trams can save you time and energy when traveling between nearby resorts.

Buses and Rideshares

The RTC (The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada) operates buses up and down the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas. A top option for getting around Las Vegas without spending too much money is the Las Vegas  Deuce bus service , which runs 24 hours a day and stops at nearly every major property on the Strip.

Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are also available, although they can sometimes be expensive and require waiting in long lines at hotels. However, they provide a convenient alternative to taxis . You can request a ride through their respective apps and meet your driver at designated pickup locations.

When planning your trip to Las Vegas, consider using a combination of trams, monorails, buses, and rideshares to navigate the bustling city efficiently.

Walking, of course, is always an option. The Las Vegas Strip is very pedestrian-friendly. Many of the landmarks are located close enough to each other to make it easy to walk from one place to another. Additionally, sidewalks and pedestrian bridges allow people to safely cross the busy streets.

The Strip is also well-lit at night, making it a popular destination for evening strolls. However, it’s important to note that the Strip can get very crowded, especially on weekends and holidays, so visitors should be prepared for large crowds and some congestion.

Every Las Vegas visitor should spend some time walking along the main Strip. We’ve created a free walking tour and map with 19 must-see destinations. Click the link to check it out!

During large conventions, Monorail trains arrive every 4 to 5 minutes with a short trip of no more than 10 minutes from any point on the Monorail system.

To reach the Boingo Station at Las Vegas Convention Center, exit the Convention Center and head west towards Paradise Road. Walk across Convention Center Silver Drive and through the parking lot. Follow the signs for the Monorail and take the escalators or elevators to the ticketing level.

The Harrah’s/LINQ Station is the ultimate destination for fun, with seemingly endless options for accommodations, dining, and entertainment. Visit The LINQ Promenade and Harrah’s for exciting dining options, including Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar, Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips, and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. If you’re looking for a night out with friends, combine music and games at the Brooklyn Bowl, where you can watch your favorite performers while bowling on high-tech lanes. This is also the station for experiencing the 550-foot-tall High Roller, a Vegas icon that gives you a bird’s-eye view of the Strip.

To reach the Monorail from Las Vegas Boulevard, enter The LINQ and walk through the Lobby. Continue past the front desk and follow signs for the Monorail and self-parking.

Continue toward self-parking and take the set of escalators or elevators to the second floor. Follow Monorail directional signage leading outside to the Harrah’s/LINQ connector. The station can also be reached through Harrah’s by walking through the casino toward the Lobby. Follow the Monorail directional signage toward the escalator near the Lobby. Take the escalator to the parking garage and follow the Monorail sign outside through the automatic doors. The sidewalk will lead to the Harrah’s/LINQ connector.

The world-famous Flamingo Las Vegas boasts more than 3,500 rooms and suites at the four corners of the Strip, with plenty to see and do, including the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat and some of the greatest shows in Vegas. Caesars Palace, located just across the street, offers an impressive lineup of entertainment, such as Elton John, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey, as well as the Appian Way Shops, the Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis, and the impressive Omnia nightclub venue.

To reach the Flamingo/Caesars Palace Station , enter the Flamingo Hotel & Casino from Las Vegas Boulevard and walk through the casino toward the Lobby and parking garage. The Monorail connector walkway can be found just past the retail section. Take the escalator up to the connector walkway and follow it to the ticketing platform.

Paris Las Vegas is an undeniable icon of Las Vegas and just steps off of the Monorail. At Paris Las Vegas, you can satisfy your wanderlust without leaving Nevada with the charm of Parisian cobblestone streets and a ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower Experience. Right next door, Horseshoe offers a classic Las Vegas theme. Horsehoe, which is truly a bridge between old and new Vegas, was the world’s largest hotel when it opened in 1973 and remains one of the top entertainment destinations on the Strip.

To reach the Monorail from Paris, enter the Paris Hotel & Casino from Las Vegas Boulevard and walk past the Lobby toward self-parking. Continue through Le Boulevard/Horseshoe connector and enter the Horseshoe. Follow the Monorail signs and take the escalator to the Avenue Shops. Continue through Avenue Shops and past the Food Court to the automatic doors that lead to the Monorail. From Horseshoe, take the escalators down to the Avenue Shops and sports book and continue out through the automatic doors to the Monorail fare gates. Click here for more info on this station.

The MGM Grand Station is the final South stop on the Monorail route. The MGM Grand is the largest hotel in the United States, and it boasts one of the largest gaming floors in Vegas, with over 2,500 gaming machines to keep you busy. This “grand” hotel and casino certainly lives up to its name by combining everything that makes Las Vegas famous with the Wet Republic Ultra Pool, celebrity DJs, world-famous chefs, stunning entertainment, and live music.

There are two entrances to the Monorail at MGM Grand Station. From Las Vegas Boulevard, enter MGM Grand Hotel and continue toward the Lobby. Take the escalators near the Bell Desk to the Underground and follow Monorail directional signs. The second Monorail MGM Grand Station entrance is located in the MGM “District” near Grand Garden Arena.
