We appreciated the fact that the tour company offers not only hotel pickup, but port pickup as well. This makes it easy if you’re on a cruise ship and don’t want to deal with figuring out transportation to the tour offices.

However, if you prefer, you can also meet them in their offices located in Dubrovnik. You’ll start off early in the morning and will be traveling in an air-conditioned coach. This coach has nice padded seats and big picture windows that offer unobstructed views of the turquoise sea and rolling hills.

As you watch on, your guide will offer an interesting commentary about the landmarks and Montenegro’s background.

The first stop after crossing the border will be the Bay of Kotor. Take some time for photos, and then head to the village of Kotor. The old town is comprised of narrow alleys and streets, dotted with larger attractions like the St. Tryphon Cathedral and medieval Square of Arms.

You’ll have the option to take a boat ride out to the Our Lady of the Rocks church, located on a tiny island in the bay.  Aside from the church’s exterior and interior beauty, being on the island also offers some of the coolest views of the waterfront village.

The coach is very spacious, and does include bathrooms on board and air-conditioning. Take a look out the large windows and enjoy both natural and man-made beauty, never in short supply on this route.

What makes this tour great from the very get-go, is the knowledge and friendliness of the guides. They tend to have great senses of humor, that makes the journey there seem to fly by.

You’ll first stop at the Bay of Kotor, which is surrounded by towering mountains. This area actually holds the earliest evidence of civilization, which is pretty fascinating!

Take a boat ride from Perast, to one of the islets to see the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks. This is a pretty brief stop – just enough to cruise around the church and see the paintings inside.

Next, explore Kotor Old City, which is a crowd favorite as it’s one of the most well-preserved medieval walled cities in the world.

After all that trekking around, take a break in a cool restaurant where you’ll try some tasty local dishes and refreshing beverages!

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro

Due to Dubrovnik’s location right on the thin, southern tip of Croatia, it is relatively easy to pop over the border further south into Montengro. (In fact, many of those who are holidaying in one of the Montenegrin coastal towns find it easier to fly into Dubrovnik.) Here’s a guide to some of the day trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro that you can make!

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro

Just over the border into Montenegro are a number of coastal towns – and you may like to see what other Adriatic seaside towns are like. Amongst those that are relatively easily reachable from Dubrovnik are Herceg Novi, Budva and Kotor. The majority of these towns don’t really have many beaches to speak of, so if that’s the kind of thing you’re after it’s probably better to plan a different daytrip.

Renowned tour and activity company Viator offer a 12-hour  Montenegro Day Trip from Dubrovnik , that includes stops in Kotor, Cetinje and Budva if you’d like an organised tour with a few stops, as well as an 11-hour  Private Tour: Montenegro Day Trip from Dubrovnik  or the  Montenegro Full Day Trip from Dubrovnik , both of which have stops in Perast, Kotor and Budva. They also have a 10-hour  Ancient Montenegro Day Trip from Dubrovnik  that includes sightseeing tours of Roman artefacts in the towns of Risan and Kotor. Or if you’re after something a little more active, why not try the  Montenegro Day Trip: Tara River White-Water Rafting (from Dubrovnik) .

Remember, as you’re going into a different country, do double-check if you require a visa for Montenegro at the  Montenegro Ministry of Foreign Affairs  website.

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro – Kotor

Kotor is probably the most worthwhile Montenegrin town to make a day trip from Dubrovnik to; it’s a wonderfully preserved costal town with numerous sights. The bus journey to Kotor takes around 2 hours.

Croatia Bus have several buses per day between these two places, whilst  Bozur  has one route a day. On the Kotor Bus Station website, you can also see a list of departures from Kotor (but not arrivals!); there’s also timetable details on the the   Dubrovnik Bus Station website (we’d suggest enquiring at the bus station for the most up-to-date times).

All in all, a day trip to Kotor by public bus is certainly do-able.

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro - Kotor

Kotor is set on the beautiful Bay of Kotor (along which a number of towns are situated – you could equally stop off at any of them) and is a UNESCO World Heritage site . Amongst the sights to see are the well-preserved Old Town and its city walls (along which you can walk). There’s also the Cathedral of Saint Tripun (built in 1166).

More at Visit Montenegro – Kotor  and the Kotor Tourist Office  website.

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro – Herceg Novi

The bus journey to Herceg Novi only takes around 1 and a half hours; Herceg Novi is the first larger town you come to after you cross the border into Montenegro. See the Dubrovnik Bus Station website for times to and from Dubrovnik; routes are run by the companies  Croatia Bus ,   Bozur and Blue Line .

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro - Herceg Novi

There’s plenty of sightseeing opportunities in Herceg Novi, including several fortresses (such as Forte Mare ); churches ( St Michael Archangel Church and St Jerome Church , both in the Old Town ); monasteries and galleries.

More at the Herceg Novi Tourist Office website.

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro – Budva

Budva is further south along the coastline, about 3 hours away from Dubrovnik. It’s perhaps better reached using an organised tour, rather than spending 6 hours (return) on a public bus! (At times that only give you a few hours in the town.) Nevertheless, check out times with  Croatia Bus .

Day Trips from Dubrovnik to Montenegro - Budva

If you do fancy visiting you’ll be rewarded with sights including Budva’s Old Town , with its city walls and churches. Budva is more famous, however, for its sandy beaches in the city and around it. It is this that makes the place a popular tourist destination – the most popular in Montenegro, in fact. This also means that the city has a bustling nightlife scene.

Budva is also famous for the very pretty islet Sveti Stefan , which is now a glamorous 5-star resort. Multi-Grand Slam winning tennis champion Novak Djokovic got married there in 2014!

Day Trips From Dubrovnik

Mljet National Park, Croatia

Dubrovnik is one of Croatia’s prettiest cities, but great news – there’s plenty to do outside of the city too. If you’re looking for some extra activities as part of your holiday, here are the best day trips from Dubrovnik.

If you read this blog regularly you’ll know Croatia is one of my favourite countries. I love the colours, the lifestyle, the food, the history and the scenery. It’s somewhere I recommend on a daily basis as I think it’s the perfect holiday destination.

Dubrovnik is one of my favourite places in Croatia. I’ve been several times now, and while Split is lively and fun, Dubrovnik feels its more sophisticated older brother. I love wandering the cobbled streets with an ice cream in one hand and my camera in the other. You can spend your morning exploring the stunning city walls, and your afternoons watching daredevil cliff jumpers at Buza Bar (carved into the rock edge).

While its popularity has been growing over the years, with tourists looking for alternatives to Italy and Greece, Game of Thrones has definitely helped catapult Dubrovnik to the top of everyone’s bucket lists.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Stepping into the centre of Dubrovnik is like walking into a fairytale! This Croatian coastal city is enchanting and majestic, with its ancient city walls enclosing the pretty cobbled streets. But while there’s plenty to keep you busy in the city itself, there are also some great day trips from Dubrovnik too.

The city is in a unique location which allows you to cross borders and enjoy a flavour of other countries during your holiday. So whether you fancy checking out Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, taking a boat to a nearby island or experiencing the rich culture and dramatic scenery of Montenegro, here are some of the best day trips from Dubrovnik.

How To Get To Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the most southern city in Croatia, so the best way to get there is by flight. As tourism is booming, there are lots of flights in the warmer months of the year. In the winter, you may find yourself having to shop around a little!

If you’re already in Croatia, you can reach Dubrovnik by bus from Zagreb, Split, or Rijeka to name a few spots.

The non-stop airport shuttle from the airport to Dubrovnik old town takes around 40 minutes (20km), and costs just 40 HRK (£5). It’s easy to navigate (even with little grasp of Croatian!) and the bus pick up and drop off points can be found in front of the terminal building itself. You can either buy tickets online before your trip, or purchase them on the bus.

If you’re looking for a more relaxing experience, or want to be dropped at your hotel, you can a taxi from Dubrovnik airport to the old town costs around 200 HRK (£25).

So you’ve made your way to Dubrovnik. Now it’s time to enjoy your holiday, including a few day trips!

The Best Day Trips From Dubrovnik

Mostar day trip from dubrovnik.

If you fancy checking out Bosnia and Herzegovina, then take a look at day trips to Mostar. It takes about two and a half hours to drive there, but it’s a scenic drive that you’ll be glued to the window for.

Beautiful views from the coach on our day trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar

Mostar itself is a very pretty city, but with a very sad past – one it still bears the scars from. If you take a tour, the guide will tell you all about the history and the two wars between 1992-1995. When I visited, one of the first things I spotted were bullet holes on derelict buildings. I was struck by the reality that I was entering a former war zone… and with that came a surge of emotion. Read more about my experience here: Dubrovnik to Mostar day trip

Mostar town, Bosnia and Herzegovina

In contrast to the dark past, is the beauty of UNESCO world heritage site of Stari Most (the city’s bridge). Every year hundreds of people bravely dive off the top 24 metre height and plunge to depths of up to 6 metres. When I visited I saw some Speedo-clad professional bridge jumpers collecting donations before taking the leap off the edge. I really enjoyed the day trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar, and would definitely recommend it.

Check prices and availability here.

Montenegro Day Trip From Dubrovnik

One of the most popular Dubrovnik day tours is to Montenegro – a country known for its epic scenery! As part of most day trips, you’ll explore the historic towns of Kotor, Budva and the charming town of Perast.

With a designated tour guide onboard to tell you all about Montenegro’s sights and history, you can relax and enjoy the ride. The tour starts in the morning and typically lasts for 11 hours, so this is a full day trip from Dubrovnik.

Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor is a unique fortified town that is great for sightseeing. It’s located in a bay near the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovćen and is filled with gorgeous winding streets, squares and churches. It’s a very pretty place. Meanwhile Budva is another beautiful town in Montenegro, with sandy beaches, stone walls encasing its medieval old town and plenty of great spots to relax with a cocktail or ice cream in the sunshine before heading back to Croatia.

Budva, Montenegro

Take A Boat Trip From Dubrovnik To Lokrum Island

One of the best boat trips from Dubrovnik is to the island of Lokrum. It’s the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre and is one of the easiest islands to reach – I mean you can see it right in front of you! It only takes 15 minutes to get there by taxi boat, and costs just 35 HRK (£5), so it’s one of the cheapest day trips from Dubrovnik.

View of Lokrum from Dubrovnik

One of the most popular attractions on Lokrum is a miniature version of the “Dead Sea.” It’s a small, shallow salt lake found near the centre of the island and you’ve guessed it – you can float there, just as you would in the Dead Sea. There’s also a nude beach on the Southern coast of the island, which is ideal for anyone who might want to get rid of those dreaded tan lines!

Enjoying a boat trip from Split

If you’re feeling up to it, you can also hike to Fort Royal – another Game Of Thrones filming location. The island of Lokrum is very small and quick to get to, so it’s a popular choice for full or half day trips from Dubrovnik. You could leave after lunch and arrive back by sunset!

Lokrum, Croatia - close to Dubrovnik

Day Trip From Dubrovnik To Split

Ok, so this is where you need to think about Croatia’s geography a little as Split isn’t just down the road. The distance between Dubrovnik and Split is 230km so bear that in mind if you fancy a trip from Dubrovnik to Split. My advice would be to stay overnight in Split so you have a bit more time (and can enjoy the city by night too!)

Incredible views from Split's Bell Tower

However, Split is the centre and heart of the Dalmatian Coast, and is well worth a visit if you can squeeze it in! A lot of the Dubrovnik excursions include tours of the city centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) including Diocletian’s Palace, Split Riva and more.

View of Split, Croatia

I’ve visited the city several times now, and one of my top recommendations would be to climb Marjan Hill. From there you get some stunning views of the city and the bright Adriatic waters. Or for another fab view, head up the bell tower of St Domnius Cathedral.

Riva promenade in Split, Croatia

Visit Mljet National Park From Dubrovnik

Hello paradise! If you’re looking for stunning, unspoiled nature, then Croatia’s Mljet National Park is definitely worth a visit. To get there, you hop on the fast catamaran from Dubrovnik which takes just under two hours.

The main attractions here are the two inland saltwater lakes known as Malo Jezero (Small Lake) and Veliko Jezero (Big Lake). You can swim, hike, snorkel and generally enjoy the views. If you fancy something adventurous, head out in kayaks on the lake.

Or if you want a stunning view of the park, you can hike up some of the hills. If you visit as part of a day trip from Dubrovnik your national park entry fee will be included in the price of the tour. Otherwise, expect to pay around 90 HRK.

Average Weather In Dubrovnik

Located on the Adriatic coast, Dubrovnik enjoys a Mediterranean climate with cool, wet winters, and hot, dry summers. The best time to visit for warm, sunny days is in the summer months. It’s worth noting that temperatures peak around 30°C in June, July and August, so pack plenty of sun cream. Fancy checking out Dubrovnik in low season? Don’t expect to swim! Temperatures drop to below 7°C and 13°C. Brrr!

Dubrovnik, Croatia

When Is The Best Time To Visit Dubrovnik?

As it’s a popular city, Dubrovnik gets incredibly crowded in the months of June, July and August. May, September and October are great months to visit as the temperatures aren’t quite so high and the majority of the cruise ships have left the port. This means you can your holiday in peace. Another plus is that tourist prices drop after high season, so you’ll be able to enjoy your break at a fraction of the cost.

I hope you enjoy taking some great day trips from Dubrovnik! Let me know where you decide to go.

My friend and I will be going to Dubrovnik in July before moving onto Budva in Montenegro. Do you know if there is a boat we can catch rather than take a bus? I cant seem to find anything online

Hi Marie, I wasn’t sure myself but I’ve just had a quick search and it looks like there are plenty of direct buses from Dubrovnik bus terminal to Budva bus terminal. Depending on the time you travel it’ll take between 2.5 and 4 hours and costs 18 – 20 EUR. Sadly I don’t think there’s a bus even though that would be a lovely way to get there. Hope that helps!

Dino is energetic, engaging, polite, respectful, funny and informative. My sister and I booked a private tour from Dubrovnik Croatia to Montenegro. His 10 passenger van was new and immaculate. His number one priority is making sure his customers are comfortable and have an enjoyable time. He arranged a private boat to take us out to the Lady of The Rocks island in Montenegro which was not very expensive at all (when we returned there was a long line and those people had to group up with several others on the boat.) The island is gorgeous with stunning views with a Catholic church - we took several photos here because there were breathtaking views. We enjoyed hearing the tale of how seamen in the 1400’s would place a rock in this spot upon each successful return home from a voyage; hence all the rocks created the original island. They built an artificial island by sinking old boats full of rocks to create the newer island we visited. Dino knows everyone. We felt safe, like he was our body guard. He dropped us off to shop in Kotor Montenegro (which is amazing - cruise ships stop here too for the great shopping!) We met at the arranged time for him to pick us up - he is very prompt and conscientious. He takes great pride in operating his business and aims to please. We chatted most of the drive and it was quite enjoyable – he is easy to talk to about any subject that is on your mind! Since the border crossing to go back to Croatia was going to be very long on a Friday afternoon he offered to drive us to a different border crossing into Bosnia if we were ok with it. We agreed (verses waiting 6-8 hours to cross the border). His secret route took us only 15 minutes to pass through. We then ate at a phenomonal restaurant in Bosnia he frequents which had all fresh food (lamb, salad, potatoes) all AMAZING – it was all DELICIOUS - what a treat! Dino knew the restaurant owners and this made it even more comfortable. He also stopped so we could shop a bit in Bosnia and we went into the store he frequents with him and the split off for a bit of exploring on our own. He waited for us outside the gates to the city. It was interesting to see another country. When we got into Croatia, we were only 15 minutes from our hotel. Dino stopped anytime we wanted to go to the bathroom or wanted something to drink - he is extremely accomodating. He stopped at several scenic spots so we could take pictures along the way. He always asked what our preference was, he did not assume anything. I have never met anyone so intuitive and wanting to make sure people had a good time. By the end of the day we felt like Dino was part of our family and that we had known each other years. He does several tours so definitely try to book him whether you want to see Croatia or Montenegro or anything else. Before booking this trip I had read several other reviews for tours that said they booked the bus tour and were on a crowded bus without bathrooms and their drivers did not stop for them to get food/drinks – and spent hours in border crossings. Thus, we booked with Dino for the private tour. It was so worth it – it is the only way to go! He knows where to take visitors and knows all the ins-and outs of how to get around. He is a very safe and experienced driver. His vehicles are impeccable and comfortable. You could not find a better tour guide / driver. People in Croatia are such good hearted, kind, honest people and Dino definitely helped solidify these thoughts. I absolutely loved Dubrovnik Croatia and this trip to Montenegro was just icing on the cake! Dino is a SUPER STAR in my opinion and no I was not paid to write this. After meeting Dino, you too will want to write a great review to share with others! Read more Written September 23, 2023
  • kellya0827 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great tour for seeing the sunset over Old Town! Perfect tour for seeing the sights and the sunset. Dino is a skilled driver and knows just where to go to give you the best view. We saw Uber drivers and people in rented cars who appeared to be struggling getting around the vantage points but with Dino I was secure. He is funny and engaging and made the tour interesting and unforgettable. Read more Written September 17, 2023
  • kellya0827 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Ston and Korcula day trip - Incredible!! I took the Ston and Korcula day trip with Dino and it was an absolute highlight of my trip to Dubrovnik. Communication with Dino was seamless leading up to the trip and he made the day really fun. He has decades of tour experience and it shows. Dino seems to know everyone and he treats everyone so kindly. He shared a lot of interesting information about Ston and Korcula on the way and when we in the towns. I feel I have adopted him as a brother and would 100% tour with him again. Ston and Korcula are beautiful places, full of history and I would visit them both again. • Lucas_Vegara 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Perfect When we arrived in Dubrovnik, we wanted to visit the Konavle region because of the many wineries in it. We chose this agency and have not regretted it. Our driver Dino took us to a wonderful winery and showed us all the beauties and charms of village life. On the way there, he told us a lot about Dubrovnik, Konavle, old stories and incidentally about the localities we saw on the way to the winery. The wine was so perfect that we bought it for ourselves, as well as the liqueurs that the winery makes from fresh products. This was an ideal experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it, as did our palates in the delicious food and wine. Read more Written September 10, 2023
  • lucindah802 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Very good First of all, I want to say that I am very happy that I chose this company as the one that will provide me with an unreal experience. It was my first time traveling alone and I didn't use this way of booking, but as soon as I saw this tour and the agency, I decided to give it a try. The road to Plitvice National Park was very pleasant and comfortable. The national park itself is very beautiful and looks like something from a fairy tale. The organization, comfort and professionalism were up to par and allowed me to have a wonderful experience. You will see in the photos how only a picture can describe this experience! • liamsI6963DG 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Wonderful My wife and I booked a private tour to Montenegro with this agency and we did not regret it. The tour was primarily very comfortable and we enjoyed it all the way. We didn't miss anything and our driver stopped wherever we needed to go to the toilet or get water. The driver is very humorous and fun, and in his own way tells all the history and all the knowledge he has acquired about his city, but also about the neighboring country of Montenegro. In Montenegro, he took us through all the sights and found us a wonderful place for lunch, but also a great place to buy some souvenirs. We wanted the tour to last forever and we recommend it to absolutely everyone!! Read more Written September 2, 2023
  • sashaa877 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Tour to remember This is the second tour we did with this magical company. Organisation, work, quality and help is really what describes this company. Driver picked up us and drove us to the boat. We picked our sunbeds on boat and relaxed on sun all day. We saw a lot of beautiful things at Croatian cost but those islands were the best. We were all day in the sea and we enjoyed like little kids. Also to mention, on this boat you have non alcoholic drinks free and meal. You can choose if you prefer fish or meat. It was really delicious. If we ever come back we would do this tour again. Read more Written September 2, 2023
  • sashaa877 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Perfect My family and I visited Dubrovnik for few days and our plan was to visit some other country near Dubrovnik. Then we chose Herzegovina and Mostar. The trip to Mostar was really relaxing because our driver was really professional and our car was comfortable. In Mostar we really enjoy. It has very interesting culture, history and old stories about people and town itself. We really enjoy and we are happy that we chose this company because it was funny, educational and very magical! • raej437 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic!!! On a 1 to 10 scale, choosing any itinerary with Dino is a 25! He is kind and gracious, and explains everything so well plus with his many years of experience knows exactly how to save you time and money each step of the way! We went on a tour to Montenegro at the peak of when the locals were also vacationing, (avoid mid August) and I have never seen such long lines at a border. Tip: Go early and avoid Friday, Saturday and Sunday if you prefer less people. A bus is fine but will take longer to review each persons passport by the border agents verses a car or minivan! Dino understands the exact process and how to make it shorter. He offered to us to go to a different border after the beautiful Lady of the rock island plus shopping and go through Bosnia where the prices were even less and the food was wonderful for no extra charge. Dino will take you wherever you want to go! Note that Kotar was incredible in itself. I do not write reviews often, but would like to share that it is almost certain you will have a fantastic experience with Dino and he will feel like family by the end of your trip! Visit a local winery

Do a couple’s photoshoot in Dubrovnik

Take a day trip to Montenegro

Romantic Hotels: Boutique Hotel Stari Grad or Hotel Excelsior

In this post, you will find all the best things to do in Dubrovnik for couples – whether you are looking for something adventurous, romantic, or to experience the local culture.

15 Best Romantic Things to Do in Dubrovnik

Below, you will find a list of the best romantic things to do in Dubrovnik for couples.

1. Explore Old Town

Dubrovnik’s old town is incredibly romantic, with its charming cobblestone streets and cozy wine bars.

Wandering around the main street of Stradun or the winding medieval side streets is the perfect way to spend a romantic evening in Dubrovnik.

The old town is also filled with plenty of sites to explore, including Rector’s Palace, the Cathedral of the Assumption, and the Onofrio Fountain.

Additionally, if you or your significant other are a Game of Thrones fan, it may be worth looking for the famous GoT filming sites in the old town, or taking a Game of Thrones Tour .

2. Go on a Private Boat Cruise of the Elaphiti Islands

Since we visited Dubrovnik on our 2 year wedding anniversary, we decided to take a private boat cruise to celebrate. This private boat ride was one of the highlights of our trip, and I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway.

This private, half-day boat tour will take you around the Elaphiti Islands, and includes drinks.

You’ll visit the stunning Blue Cave where you can swim or snorkel. Another highlight is historic Lopuc Island, which is home to the beautiful Sunj Beach.

Sunj Beach is the only sand beach near Dubrovnik, and is only accessible by boat. The beach is perfect for swimming and also has a beach bar and sun loungers. We absolutely loved visiting this beach on our trip!

Book a Private Boat Trip around the Elaphiti Islands

3. Kayaking around Dubrovnik

Kayaking around the old town of Dubrovnik or even to Lokrum Island is one of the most popular things to do in the city. This adventurous and fun activity is perfect for couples that are active or love the outdoors.

One of the best times to go kayaking in Dubrovnik is just before sunset , as watching the sunset from the water is truly incredible.

There are plenty of options when it comes to kayaking tours in Dubrovnik, and some include other activities like snorkeling or a wine-tasting on the beach .

Book a Kayaking Tour in Dubrovnik

4. Ride the Cable Car up Mount Srd

Mount Srd is the mountain that sits behind the Old Town of Dubrovnik. One of the best things to do in Dubrovnik for couples is ride the cable car up to the top of Mount Srd.

From the top, you will have panoramic views over the city and the coastline. This is the spot where everyone one gets those postcard worthy views of Dubrovnik.

The Dubrovnik Cable Car is open seasonally, from March through October. The ride is only a few minutes long, but has stunning views.

If you plan on going during summer, you can buy tickets via their website to avoid long lines. Another option is to do this combo Cable Car & Dubrovnik Walking Tour.

5. Enjoy a Romantic Dinner

If you are looking for a romantic dinner to celebrate a honeymoon, anniversary, or just because, look no further. The most romantic restaurant in Dubrovnik is Panorama – hands down.

Panorama is located on the top of Mount Srd, and has breathtaking panoramic views over Dubrovnik’s old town and the Adriatic Sea. To get there you can take the cable car up or get a taxi.

Panorama is open seasonally from March-October, but you must make reservations far in advance . To make reservations, visit Panorama’s website .

For another romantic dinner option – I personally loved the Dubravka 1836 Restaurant . The restaurant has beautiful sea views and faces Fort Lovrijenac, which provides a romantic atmosphere especially at sunset.

6. Walk the Old Town Walls

Dubrovnik is famous for is its medieval walls. In fact, Dubrovnik is one of the only remaining walled cities in all of Europe.

The Dubrovnik walls surround the old town and are 1,940m (6,360 ft) in length. One of the best parts about the Dubrovnik walls is that you can walk around the top and enjoy the panoramic views of the old town and the Adriatic Sea.

It takes around 1.5-2 hours to walk around the walls, and there are a few places you can stop for a drink along the top. Walking the walls is a perfect thing to do in Dubrovnik for couples, and its especially romantic just before sunset.

To walk the walls, I recommend getting the Dubrovnik Pass. This will cover your admission to walk the walls as well as some of the smaller museums in Dubrovnik.

7. Visit a Local Winery

While Dubrovnik’s old town is filled with charming wine bars, many people don’t realize there are actually several vineyards surrounding the city of Dubrovnik.

This is because the Dalmatia region is one of Croatia’s best wine regions, and creates a variety of red and white wines.

Not only is taking a wine tour from Dubrovnik romantic, but it is a great way to experience local Croatian culture. There are many great wine tours in Dubrovnik to choose from – from sunset wine tasting to local food & wine vineyard tours .

Book a Wine Tasting Tour in Dubrovnik

8. Go to Lokrum Island

Lokrum Island is located just off the shores of Dubrovnik, and is the prefect romantic day trip. The island is home to a Benedictine Monastery, beautiful botanical gardens, and lots of colorful Peacocks!

Getting to Lokrum Island is simple, you just take the ferry from the Dubrovnik harbor. It takes around 15 minutes to get there, and round-trip ferry tickets are around 20 Euros per person.

9. Couple’s Photoshoot in Dubrovnik

If you are visiting Dubrovnik for a honeymoon or anniversary trip, getting some professional photos taken is the perfect souvenir.

Not only is the Adriatic coastline stunning, but the old town of Dubrovnik also makes for a beautiful backdrop for photos.

This local Dubrovnik photographer offers a 1-hour photo session, with beautiful photos that get delivered to you digitally.

Book a Private Photoshoot in Dubrovnik

10. Enjoy Drinks at Buza Bar

Buza Bar, also known as Cafe Buža, is a unique hidden bar along the walls of Dubrovnik. The bar is quite literally a hole in the wall – as it is just a stone entrance with no sign, but it adds to the charm.

After entering, you’ll find an incredible seaside bar that is perched along the cliffside overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

Not only is Buza Bar a unique spot, but it is also a very romantic place in Dubrovnik – especially at sunset.

Buza Bar is located at Crijevićeva ul. 9, 20000 , and to get there you will go through an unmarked entrance at the Dubrovnik Wall. Also, note that it is a small cash-only bar which only sells drinks.

11. Go Zip Lining

For couples that love adventure, then this Panorama Zip Line will be the perfect thrill-seeking activity.

On this zip line, you will soar down from Mount Srd. and have panoramic views over the city of Dubrovnik and the beautiful coastline.

There are 2 long zip lines on this course, and it is an absolutely thrilling ride – perfect for those looking for something exciting to do while on vacation.

Book your Ride on the Panorama Zip Line

12. Enjoy a Beach Day

Dubrovnik is located on the Adriatic Sea, and is known for its beautiful beaches. Whether you are looking for a romantic and secluded beach or a lively beach club, there is a beach for everyone near Dubrovnik.

Below are some beaches to consider visiting:

Coral Beach Club – Lively & fun beach club

Banje Beach – Closest to old town with picture perfect views

Danče Beach – Local hidden gem

Sveti Jakov Beach – One of the most beautiful & romantic beaches

13. Visit the Love Stories Museum

The Love Stories Museum celebrates love by showcasing a variety of sentimental and unique things. Objects are donated to the museum, and each tells a real-life love story of someone from around the world.

There are also some exhibits on local Dubrovnik legends & love stories, as well as fictional love stories from shows (like Game of Thrones) that were filmed in Dubrovnik.

It is a small, yet cute museum that is worth stopping by. The museum is located just outside the Pile Gate and tickets can be purchased on-site.

14. Breakfast on Stradun Street

Stradun is the famous main street in Dubrovnik’s Old Town. The beautiful limestone-paved street is filled with shops and cafes, and is the most popular part of old town.

If you want to experience the beauty of Stradun street before the crowds, I highly recommend getting there early (around 7am in the summer).

There are several cafes along Stradun street and while some are a bit touristy, it is a great spot early in the morning to enjoy a coffee with your significant other.

15. Day Trip to Kotor, Montenegro

What is more romantic than exploring another new country together? Especially a country as stunningly beautiful as Montenegro.

Kotor is a medieval town in Montenegro that is located along the bay, surrounded by impressively tall mountains. It is a very scenic place, and is definitely a great option for a romantic day trip from Dubrovnik.

To get to Kotor, you can either rent a car or take a tour. The drive is around an hour and 45 minutes, plus time to cross the border. You can also stop at Perast on the way or continue the journey to Budva.

However, for a relaxing & romantic getaway, I recommend taking a tour. There are group tours available, like this small-group tour to Kotor , but the best option is to take a Private Tour to Montenegro .

A private tour is much more personalized and it’ll be easier to enjoy time with your significant other.

Book a Private Tour to Montenegro
