Anyone know approx. how far Sandals Royal Bahamian is from the port? It appears to be about 8 miles or so. How much would a taxi cost from port? Is the jitney an option to get to Sandals?

Yes, you can take the jitney to Sandals. I believe a taxi would be $15 for 2 people. Enjoy!

The #10 Jitney will take you there for $1.25 each way per person.

Approx how long is the ride from the pier to Sandals via the jitney?

It's about 15 minutes.

Here's a link to the current taxi rates.

Great to have when you're in town.

Downtown to Cable Beach (Sandals) should be $15 for 2 ppl. plus tip.

These days with the price of gas at $5.. tip is greatly appreciated.

Be sure to leave time going back to the ship during rush hour. This can add 30 minutes to your trip.

You can take a taxi or the #10 jitney.

Just wanted to update that I prebooked with Sandra’s transportation and it was great!

' class=

Hi, Can you tell me the price of the trip through Sandra's to Sandals? TIA

nassau cruise port to sandals royal bahamian

Can you advise how much Sandra's was round trip??

If you are wanting a day pass, just be aware that they are few and far between and you won't know if any are available until you get to the guard shack, first come first served, so have a plan B. It depends on staffing and how full the resort is (and it has been very full since reopened after covid).

If you are able to get one, these are the prices:

SANDALS ROYAL BAHAMIAN

DAY PASS $340.00

EVENING PASS $340.00

FULL DAY PASS $650.0

No I'm asking about the transfer price but thank you.

@Geniene M, the taxi rate is $22 each way for up to 2 passengers, and $4 for additonal persons >2 years of age. Sandra would be more, but you'd need to contact her for a quote.

There will be many taxis available as you exit the port, but it will be quicker to turn right, walk along the water towards Senor Frog's, then follow the sidewalk around to the frotn of the British Colonial Hotel and get a taxi there. It's a 5-6 minute walk. You'll save that time by not taking the taxi from the port, then sitting in downtown traffic on one-way streets.

Royal Caribbean breaks ground on Nassau beach club

R oyal Caribbean and the government of the Bahamas broke ground Monday on the joint venture to develop a strip of land in the cruise port of Nassau called Paradise Island.

The government in 2023 gave the OK for the cruise line to develop a 17-acre portion into what will be called Royal Beach Club Paradise Island when it opens in 2025. Cruise line executives and government officials, including Prime Minister Philip Davis, grabbed shovels along the white sandy beaches with turquoise water in the background.

“With the signing of the deal [for] Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, we embark on this project to further enhance the vitality of our tourism product,” Davis said. “Signing today’s agreement, we add another world-class experience to our tourism offerings. And even more importantly, we take a bold step toward greater Bahamian empowerment in the tourism industry.”

The site is on the western edge of the strip of land that runs alongside the waterway through which ships brought nearly 4.5 million passengers in 2023, making Nassau the world’s busiest cruise port of call.

Royal Caribbean’s site expects about 2,000 visitors a day. They will be ferried over from the port but then return by land going through downtown Nassau.

It’s the first site for the smaller-sized beach club private destination Royal Caribbean plans to build out as opposed to its private island and resort destinations such as Perfect Day at Coco Cay in the Bahamas and Labadee on Haiti’s northern coast.

The Paradise Island spot will play up Bahamian culture alongside traditional offerings such as the beach, cabanas, four food and drink venues and three pools with swim-up bars. The site is being designed by a Bahamian architectural firm, and will give space for local artisan work for sale and live local music.

The project is a public-private partnership under which Bahamians are invited to own up to 49% of it. The plan is for locals to manage the experiences offered at the resort.

The cruise line will own 13 acres of the property while 4 acres go to Crown Land, which is a territorial area owned by the state. The cruise line will also pay a new tourism levy in exchange for the development.

“Marking more than the beginning of the construction process, today’s groundbreaking event symbolizes partnership, momentum and continued economic development for so many Bahamian entrepreneurs and the entire community,” said Jason Liberty, the cruise line parent company Royal Caribbean Group’s President and CEO. “We are grateful to our partners for their support, especially the Bahamian government, who stand with us here today in celebration of what is to come.”

The additional attraction to the port augments a $300 million overhaul of the Nassau Cruise Port that had its grand opening last year.

Already the port has expanded its capacity to six ships, including the ability to dock three of the massive Oasis-class ships from Royal Caribbean at once.

The revamp includes a new terminal building, Junkanoo museum, 3,500-person amphitheater, living coral exhibit plus more entertainment, food, beverage and retail space. Once complete, the port’s capacity will jump to more than 33,000 passengers per day. It had been around 20,000 a day.

RCI-Royal Caribbean starts construction of Royal Beach Club Paradise Island (Nassau Bahamas)

CruiseMapper logo

RCI-Royal Caribbean International and The Bahamas inaugurated a new venture on April 22 as construction commenced on Royal Beach Club Paradise Island , the 17-acre beach destination on Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas .

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on-site, attended by Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, along with The Bahamas’ Prime Minister Philip Davis and Deputy Prime Minister I. Chester Cooper, marking a significant milestone.

The first installment of the Royal Beach Club Collection is set to materialize in the forthcoming months, slated for unveiling in 2025, with The Bahamas serving as its central inspiration. From the venue – situated on one of the island’s most picturesque beaches – to the incorporation of Bahamian cuisine, culture, and workforce, including a unique public-private partnership enabling Bahamian ownership of up to 49% equity, the new beach club amalgamates the allure and ethos of The Bahamas with distinctive Royal Caribbean characteristics across its ambiance, service, and architecture.

Guests will be greeted with an immersive beach experience at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, featuring authentic Bahamian architectural designs crafted by a local Bahamian firm, against the backdrop of The Bahamas’ iconic turquoise waters and pristine sandy shores. While further details are forthcoming, highlights include three lavish pools with swim-up bars, exclusive cabana areas, four island-inspired eateries offering local delicacies, and interactive experiences showcasing local artisans and live entertainment.

Local enterprises and entrepreneurs will play integral roles in both the construction and operation of the beach club, fostering job creation in the immediate and long-term. To date, Bahamians have been actively involved in conceptualizing authentic culinary offerings, entertainment, recreational activities, and design concepts reflective of the genuine Bahamian essence and aesthetic.

Upon completion, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island is anticipated to accommodate an average of 2,000 guests. Access to the beach club will be facilitated through ferry transportation from the Nassau Cruise Port, with return journeys disembarking near historic downtown Nassau, in close proximity to the renowned Straw Market.
