Sabrina Carpenter Wants to Shock You

The “Feather” singer talks her new Skims campaign, her style aesthetic, and those raunchy “Nonsense” outros.

Getting a Skims campaign is the modern-day equivalent of earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It means you’ve garnered the attention of pop-culture titan Kim Kardashian (or at the very least, her booking team), and that you’ll join a growing lineup of A-listers like Lana Del Ray, Usher, Cardi B, and Kim Cattrall—just to name a very small few who have appeared in Skims ads. Now, a new face has joined the ranks of this lingerie-clad mafia: Sabrina Carpenter, who just got her first No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Airplay chart with her catchy bop, “Feather,” and recently disembarked as the headliner on the latest leg of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.” It’s safe to say the singer is topping off what has already been an exciting beginning to 2024 with a moment in the lacy spotlight.

Her campaign, shot by photographer Jack Bridgeland, fits perfectly into the nostalgia-fueled, high-feminine aesthetic Carpenter has cultivated over the past few years. “I felt like I was a young girl again, playing in my bedroom,” the singer says of the cinematic set, with its blue shag carpet and floral-covered pink drapes. “I was able to play and move and feel like myself, which was really nice.” Below, the singer fesses up to the pieces she stole from set, how she feels being labeled “the horniest girl alive,” and the style advice she still follows to this day.

Many of the pieces in your campaign seem like a natural extension of your personal style. What are some of your favorites from this line?

I wear Skims in my personal, everyday life often—especially when I’m on the road. This collaborative collection felt close to things I love to wear naturally: feminine, but very comfortable.

Everybody who knows me knows I’m a big fan of the color pink, but I was honestly surprised by this tangerine, peach-colored bodysuit; I don’t usually wear that color in my everyday life. I also really love the little pink lace teddy, and that was the one that made me say, “Hey, guys—obviously, I want to ask for permission before I steal all of this, but can I take this home?” And they were like, “You can take everything.”

When you brought home those lingerie pieces, were you wearing them for anyone special?

I was just wearing them for myself, because I’m so special.

There have been some great, star-studded Skims campaigns over the past few years. Did you have a favorite before your own?

I’m a very big Lana [Del Rey] fan, and I thought hers was so beautiful, but it still felt like Lana. I think that’s what inspired me to say yes and pursue this opportunity, because it didn’t feel like she was doing something completely outside of herself. Ice Spice’s was great as well. It is precious to see women feel like women, and in a way that feels very unapologetically feminine, and I think both of those campaigns did that really well.

We, of course, have to talk about “Feather” going number one. How does that feel?

I truly cannot stress this enough: I really do owe it all to my fans because they’ve allowed me to grow, supported me and stuck by my side since I was quite young. So I think about these moments, and as proud and excited as I am for myself, I also think about them and how they must feel, since they stuck with me for so long. It feels like more of a celebration between me and my fans than just me alone, which is very sweet. But they would be proud of me if it was number one or number 97.

We’re only three months into 2024 and you’ve already had quite a year. Do you have a highlight so far?

Oh, damn, I feel like every day I find a new highlight. Not to be annoying. I try to just stay positive and think, “Wow, life is really life-ing right now for me.” I’ve been focused on doing the things that I love in the last decade of my life, and now, I’m just excited to be having fun with my friends while I do it.

All those moments are obviously highlights. I think even this last tour that I just finished with Taylor [Swift] was a huge highlight for me. I learned so much. And now, I’m about to play Coachella, which is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m just trying to take it one day at a time.

Have you started working on your “Nonsense” outros for Coachella?

Well, now that AI exists, I’m hoping I never have to write one myself ever again [ laughs ]. I actually did, as an experiment, ask AI to do it, and it was so terrible. It wrote the most emotional, unfunny, dramatic outros I’ve ever heard in my life. I think right now, AI is really in its dramatic, romantic era. It hasn’t picked up on humor yet, or sarcasm, so we’ll have to work on that.

It needs to get a little raunchier, too.

Honestly, I’ve always had a very sarcastic sense of humor, and outros really give me leeway to just take it there. At the end of the day, if people want to label me as the horniest girl alive, that’s fine, but when they meet me, they’ll understand that I’m not as freakishly horny as I seem, and that’s all just for the fun of the shows. I love playing with the crowd live, and sometimes you want to say things in order to take it to a really shocking place. But sometimes I’m very PG with it. It really just depends on the city, honestly.

Let’s get into some Style Notes questions. How would you describe your aesthetic?

I’ve always had trouble answering this question, because when you’re a young woman, it can change and fluctuate a lot, and you don’t always want to label it. Some days I feel confident in short skirts and tall boots, and other days, I feel more confident in baggy jeans and baggy t-shirts.

Would you say your look changes dramatically when you’re onstage performing, versus going about your everyday life?

Yes and no. I don’t wear what I wear on stage to the grocery store, but I definitely feel comfortable enough in it that I wouldn’t feel weird wearing it to dinner with my friends and family. It never feels like I’m putting on this persona and becoming someone else. It still feels like another facet of me.

Where do you find your style inspiration?

I look at old photos of Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin and even young Dolly [Parton]; a lot of the things they wore feel very close to the things that I like to wear now. Obviously, I also take a lot from my mom, when she was younger. She used to wear these cute little sets, and I feel like now I’m very much a set girl. I find inspiration all over the place. It’s been a minute since I’ve named-dropped Rihanna in an interview, because I told myself I had to slow down, but Rihanna is always one of my main style icons as well.

What was your first big fashion purchase?

When I was pretty young, I did a movie, and I remember going to this vintage store in Canada, and they had this vintage white Chanel purse, and that was my first big fashion purchase. I still have it and I wear it whenever I’m in white.

Have you ever gotten any style advice that has really stuck with you?

I remember something that someone said to me once. It was like, “Honey, you should always leave the house as if you’re going to run into your ex.” And I’ve followed that advice from that day forward.

Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has stunned the internet after posting photos of herself in lingerie.

Carpenter, 24, who got her start on Disney’s Girl Meets World has officially entered her mainstream era.

She just wrapped up being the opening act for Taylor Swift on her already iconic Eras Tour, and now she’s the star of Kim Kardashian’s latest lingerie campaign for her brand Skims.

The former child star posted a series of photos of her posing in lacy lingerie in a bedroom and declared she was a “spring Skims girl”.

The lingerie photos were immediately controversial because fans were surprised she would pose for Kardashian’s underwear brand given her friendship with Swift.

“Why Skims? I thought you and Tay were friends,” one wrote.

“Oh honey, you’re gorgeous but not this brand …” another said.

“Imagine giving someone the opportunity of their lifetime and bringing them with you on the biggest tour in the world, and a few weeks later, they collaborate with someone who tried to ruin your life…,” one said.

Someone else claimed the move made them “question your friendship with Taylor”.

Famously, Kardashian and Swift had a beef in 2016, thanks to Kardashian’s husband at the time, Kanye West.

In 2009, West famously interrupted Swift’s speech after she won Best Female Music Video at the MTV Awards to declare that Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.

Fast-forward to 2016, the pair had mostly buried the hatchet, but West released his song Famous , which included the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.”

In response, Swift’s representative at the time released a statement and said the song had a “strong misogynistic message”.

Kardashian and West maintained that Swift had approved the lyrics before they went out. Eventually, Kardashian released a snippet of Swift’s phone conversation with West, and online, Swift was “cancelled” over the saga.

Swift disappeared from public life for over a year and then remerged with her hit record Reputation in 2017,

Swift has gone from career strength to career strength ever since … but hasn’t forgotten what happened.

In 2023, Swift reflected on that period in her life to the   Times and said, “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.”

The pop singer hasn’t replied to any comments from angry Swift fans, and the lingerie photos also made waves for an entirely different reason.

Carpenter’s rumoured boyfriend, Saltburn star Barry Keoghan, also commented on the image.

“Barbie Emoji,” he wrote, and the Golden Globe nominee added a fire emoji and a crying red face emoji.

Keoghan wasn’t the only one struggling for words because fans were stunned by the photos.

Sabrina Carpenter Shares Photo of Sydney Zoo Visit with Taylor Swift as She Reflects on Her Eras Tour Run

The "Nonsense" singer accompanied Swift to Mexico, Australia, Singapore and more locations as an opening act

Sabrina Carpenter is bidding goodbye to the Eras Tour .

On Saturday, the "Nonsense" singer, 24, shared an Instagram post featuring some of the final photos of her run as a opening act on Taylor Swift 's record-breaking world tour. One photo showed Carpenter and Swift , 34, visiting the Sydney Zoo together in Australia. They could be seen strolling alongside each other as they took in the sights.

Other shots captured Carpenter performing onstage and cheering on her team as they prepared backstage.

"That’s a wrap for us on the eras tour :’)," Carpenter began her lengthy caption. "Sitting at home reflecting on what a whirlwind this was and how very honored I feel to have been part of it. I want to thank every crowd for being so welcoming and generous to us and making some of the most impressive friendship bracelets I’ve ever received."

"Also a huge thank you to the incredible crew for being so hardworking and talented," she continued. "And the most thank you’s I’ve ever thank you’d to Taylor."

She concluded her post with a heartfelt message for Swift herself.

"I feel so lucky to witness the magic that is you and this tour," she wrote to the 14-time Grammy winner. "There is truly no one like you and there never will be! I love you with all my heart and I will cherish this taybrina era (and all the eras) till the end of time 💞💞💞."

Swift first revealed that the Disney Channel alum would be joining her as an opening act for the Eras Tour in June 2023. Carpenter was announced as an opener for her  international dates  in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, and Australia and Singapore were added in a later announcement.

Since then, the two singers have seemingly become even closer since touring together . Earlier this month, after Carpenter had her opening act canceled as bad  weather delayed one of their Sydney shows , Swift and Carpenter sang a duet of Swift's songs "White Horse" and "Coney Island" for excited fans at Accor Stadium, as they leaned against each other and swayed to the music.

Sharing a clip of the performance on Instagram, Carpenter later thanked Swift for her support and addressed the pinch-me moment of performing the duet with the megastar. “9 year old Sabrina singing white horse would never see this s--- coming! I love you so so so dearly Taylor. Always have, always will," she wrote.

My free tours Moscow city starts on Slavonic Square (Kitay-Gorod Metro Station), passes the world-famous St. Basil’s Cathedral, which was built by Ivan the Terrible on the south side of Red Square in the 16th century and where the tsars were once crowned. Then it goes across the Red Square at the Lenin Mausoleum, the luxury department store GUM and with a view of the Kremlin towards the historical museum. Of course, you will also learn more about the stories that once happened behind the thick walls of the Kremlin – from the Tsars and Napoleon to Stalin. Then we continue through the idyllic Alexander Garden.

«First acquaintance with Moscow» – a 2.5-hour city tour in the center of Moscow

This Moscow city tour starts on the Theater Square, past Lubyanka Square and the KGB-building, then through Kitay Gorod district and Varvarka Street, past the world-famous St. Basil’s Cathedral. Then it goes across Zarjadje Park, over Red Square at the Lenin Mausoleum, the GUM-department store and towards the Historical Museum. We walk through the Alexander Garden.

A 3.5-hour car/bus tour of Moscow.

This is the best tour of Moscow city as all the important sights are visited. I am your Moscow city guide who will walk you through the city explaining the charming history of the city. This tour begins with picking you up from the hotel. 3 breaks are offered for photographing.

First, we will visit the most famous riverside streets and bridges in the center of the city with the most beautiful views of the Kremlin and the Moskva River (e.g. the Kremlin embankment and the Great Stone Bridge).

The first photo break is made at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. We then pass by the district with numerous museums, Prechistinka Street and the district with numerous medical areas.

We again stop at the Novodevichy Convent, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the other bank of the Moskva River to click pictures.

Then we visit “Sparrow Hills” where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city of Moscow from the observation deck. Then there are the skyscrapers of Moscow-City, the Kutuzov avenue, the New Arbat, Tverskaya Street, the world-famous Bolshoi Theater, the KGB building and Varvarka Street. Here there are ample spots to click pictures.

We then drive past the Kremlin again and finally reach Red Square. We take a short tour of Red Square and say goodbye in the Alexander Garden.

A military tour – riding on tanks in Stupino (Moscow region)

Russian Military is one of the largest military forces in the world formed in 1992. With my Military Tour experience what it likes to be in the Russian military, shooting guns, ride the Tank T-34 and various models of German tanks from the Second World War, as well as armored personnel carriers and vehicles. Glass Animals Will Embark on ‘Tour of Earth’ With 2024 Live Shows

Later this year, Glass Animals will bring their forthcoming studio album I Love You So F***ing Much on an international tour fittingly titled Glass Animals: Tour of Earth.

The record, which features the newly released single “Creatures in Heaven,” will arrive on July 19, while the tour is scheduled to kick off just under a month later. The band will be joined on the road by Kevin Abstract, Eyedress, Blondshell, and The Big Moon on select dates.

Tour of Earth begins on Aug. 7 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will close out its North American run on Sept. 22 in Austin, Texas. Glass Animals will make stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Inglewood’s Kia Forum, in addition to performances in Philadelphia, Toronto, Cincinnati, Nashville, Phoenix, Raleigh, and more. The tour also includes two back-to-back shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.

General sale for North America and Europe will begin on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. local time via the official Glass Animals website. Presales will begin on Tuesday, April 9.
