Gangtok North Sikkim Tour

Seated conveniently in the lap of Mother Nature, Sikkim is one of the scenic places to explore in North East-India. This small state has so much to offer to the visitors right from nature to adventure, spiritualism to cultural and most importantly peace of mind to warm hearted people. Sikkim is one of those places that makes all the wishes of an avid traveller come true. In our 5N/6D tour, we offer the chance to explore the lesser explored part of Sikkim i.e., North Sikkim along with the famed capital city of Gangtok. This tour guarantees to take you on a ride of a fairytale land in every possible way.

Gangtok is the destination where tour commences. Blessed with beautiful landscape, majestic monasteries, rich culture and warm-hearted people, the capital city of Sikkim caters to all kinds of travellers and their different interests. We shall aim to explore the suburb located Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir and the Nathu Pass (if at all any spare time is left). Situated at an elevation of about 3753m, Tsomgo Lake is known for seasonal change in the colour of its water. For this reason, the local people consider the lake as sacred. Tsomgo is also to home several species of birds including Brahminy Ducks and wild animals like Red Panda.

The 6 hours drive through winding roads and scenic terrains will take us to Lachen, which is known for its unexploited beauty. At 2590m, Lachen is the starting point for some of the most interesting treks in North Sikkim and is the gateway to the alpine Guru Dongmar and Tso Lhamu lakes. Lachen was once served as the winter home of the shepherds who spent their summers on the alpine pastures bordering Tibet with their yaks. Lachen is now a popular base camp for trekking in North Sikkim. On our tour, we shall be witnessing the majestic Gurudongmar Lake, which is the highest lake in Sikkim and is situated at an altitude of 5181m. The crystal clear lake is surrounded by snow-clad mountains,fluttering Buddhist Prayers Flags and a temple in that adds more to the spiritual feel of the place. Gurudongmar remains frozen throughout the winter but in summers, visitors can enjoy looking at its sparkling water.

Lachung is a scenic mountain village that boasts of its lofty snow-capped mountain peaks, scenic waterfalls, sparkling brooks and apple and apricot orchards. There is also a handicraft centre at Lachung that offers a glimpse of skills of people of Sikkim. Our main place of visit would in Lachung would be the Yumthang Valley, which is a grazing pasture surrounded by the mountains. Yumthang is also known as Valley of Flowers is situated at an altitude of 3,564 metres. The valley is a home to the famed Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary that has over twenty-four species of the Rhododendron flowers. Adding to the beauty is a tributary of River Teesta that flows through the valley and the town of Lachung. Yumthang is an ideal place for spending a blissful time amidst nature, it also gives one the opportunity to reconnect with Mother Nature and see its bounty. We shall also visit the hot water spring that is believed to have medicinal properties. On our way back from Lachung, we shall stop by to watch the beauty of Bheema and Twin Waterfalls.

On arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport, our representative will be there to meet and greet you and transfer you to Gangtok (5,480 ft.). On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day is free for leisure. An overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok.

Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

After breakfast in the morning, we will start an excursion to Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft.) and Baba Mandir (13,200 ft.), which are about 55 km one way from Gangtok city. After exploring the lake and the temple, return back to your hotel in Gangtok for an overnight stay.

Gangtok – Lachen (118 Kms/6 hrs)

In the morning, we will drive to Lachen (9,400 ft, 118 km). On the way, we will visit Seven Sister Waterfalls. Later, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant on the way. Check in at the hotel in the late afternoon. Rest of the day is free to relax followed by an overnight stay at the hotel in Lachen.

Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake (40 kms each side) – Lachung (44 kms/2 hrs)

Today in the morning, we will drive towards Gurudongmar Lake (17,000ft). Only Indians are allowed to visit this lake.

Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest situated lakes in North Sikkim. Note that the altitude here may cause breathing problem so be conscious.

After exploring the lake return back to the hotel and leave for Lachung. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel in Lachung.

Lachung – Yumthang Valley Excursion (21 kms each side) – Gangtok (118 kms/6 hrs)

After breakfast in the morning, we will proceed to Yumthang Valley which is also known as the Valley of Flowers (11800 Ft / 3598 Mts / 25 Kms / 1 ½ hours one way). On the way back, we will visit the hot spring which is considered to have medicinal properties. Later return back to the hotel & leave for Gangtok. An overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok.

Gangtok Departure

In the morning after breakfast, check out from the hotel on time and get transfer to the NJP Railway station / IXB Airport for your onward journey.

Pick up from NJP or Bagdogra Airport after being greeted by our officials. The journey will be of 4 hours through the winding roads of Sikkim. Gangtok is a beautiful capital town of the state established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the year of 1940s. The journey towards this beautiful town will be full of alpine trees and breathtaking sceneries. Have your lunch on the way. You will reach Gangtok after covering an approx distance of 120km.

Check into your hotel and freshen up to be prepared for the renainig day. You are free for the rest of the day to stroll around MG Marg. Replete with colorful souvenir shops, cafes, and places to eat, a visit to this road will get you closer to the indigenous cultures, colorful traditions, and the local delicacies of Sikkim. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

After early morning breakfast in this 5 night 6 days sikkim package, we will drive to your Tsomgo Lake. It is an overall 2hrs journey towards Tsomgo Lake from Gangtok. Tsomgo Lake also known as Changu Lake is a glacial lake in Sikkim and located at an elevation of 12,310 feet. Changu Lake is filled with water of melting snow coming from the surrounding mountains. It's a one-kilometer long oval-shaped lake. During summer and autumn, the beautiful Primula flowers and other Alpine vegetation around the lake can be sighted. However, winter season offers a different view of the lake as it becomes completely frozen and a snowfield.

Next, you will be driven towards Baba Mandir in this 5 night 6 days sikkim package which is approximately 20 km distance away from Changu Lake. Baba Mandir is a shrine made in the honor of an Indian army Major 'Baba' Harbhajan Singh. He is hailed by the soldiers and the locals as the "Hero of Nathula". You can offer your prayer here and after having lunch head back to your hotel in Gangtok. After arriving at Gangtok you are free for the entire evening to either relax or buy some souvenirs for your close ones. Overnight stay at Gangtok.

After being served an early morning breakfast at the hotel and we will drive you to your hotel in Lachen. It is an overall 6hrs journey from Gangtok with an approx distance of 110km to reach Lachen. Lachen is a small Himalayan hamlet perched at an altitude of 2750mt. On the way to Lachen, you will come across some of the most amazing destinations like Singhik View Point famous for offering the most magnificent view of Mt. Khangchendzonga and Mt. Siniolchu, Seven Sisters Waterfalls where you can beckon the surreal beauty of cascading water, and Chungthang a pictorial place which is known to be blessed by Guru Padmasambhava, the patron saint of Sikkim. Here you will find a rock which till day bears the hand and footprints of Padmasambhava.

Have lunch on the way to Lachen as the journey will be a long one. Reach your hotel at Gangtok after covering approx 115 km of road distance. Freshen up to plan the remaning day's activing. You can spend the entire evening at leisure and enjoy the scenic landscape of Lachen. Overnight stay at Lachen.

Have an early morning breakfast and begin your sightseeing excursion to Gurudongmar Lake. It takes around 3 hours to reach the lake after covering approximately 66 km of road distance. It is a glacial lake and one of high altitude lakes in the world. Sited on the foothill of snow-capped mountain, Gurudongmar Lake has left many travelers enthralled with its ethereal beauty. After soaking yourself in the beauty of this majestic lake return to your hotel. After lunch, visit Lachen Monastery and check out from your hotel to start your journey to your hotel in Lachung via Chungthang. It is an overall 2½hrs drive from Lachen with an approx distance of 46km to reach Lachung.

Lachung is another quaint hamlet in North Sikkim. On the way to Lachung, you can visit the Bhim Nala Waterfalls. The 2½hrs drive to Lachung is truly a thrilling one through the hilly roads. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to relax and enjoy the majestic viewof snow-peaked mountains, vibrant rhododendron valley, and lush green yak pastures surrounding Lachung. You will be staying overnight at Lachung in this 5 night 6 days Sikkim package.

Today in this 5 night 6 days sikkim package, you will be driven towrds Yumthang Valley. Also known as the Valley of Flowers, this sightseeing excursion will certainly be a memorable one. Yumthang valley is situated at an altitude of nearly 11800 feet with the river Lachung Chu flowing through the valley. On your way to Yumthang Valley, you will be driving across the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which has more than 120 species of Rhododendron trees and is also the home to the endemic Rhododendron Niveum. In the winter, Yumthang is covered with the blanket of White Snow and offers a captivating view of snow-clad mountains. Apart from the winter season, in Yumthang Valley you can witness the amazing sight of diverse Himalayan Flora which is sure to leave you craving for more.

While returning from Yumthang you may visit the famous hot spring known for its curative properties. Reach the hotel and right after it, visit Lachung Monastery. After lunch check out from your hotel and start your 6hrs journey towards your hotel in Gangtok. The scenic view of changing vegetation on the way to Gangtok is going to woo your mind. Breakfast and then proceed for the half day sightseeing in and around Gangtok. Visit Banjakhri Falls first which a majestic fall that has enthralled the mind of many travelers with its stunning view of cascading water. Next, visit Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. It is a world-renowned institute doing its research on Tibetan language and culture, Rumtek Monastery is the most famous monastery with grand Tibetan architecture. An additional attraction here is the Golden Stupa. On the way to Dharma Chakra Centre, you will see a huge stupa called Dro-Dul Chorten was built in 1946 to ward off the evil from that area.

After the sightseeing at these places, you will be taken to Hanuman Tok which is a hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Hanuman Tok is famous for offering a great view of Kanchenjunga peaks. Try the Rope Way Ride to get a stunning panoramic view of Gangtok from the ropeway. After seeing these pictorial places, say goodbye to Gangtok and start your 4hrs journey towards NJP/Bagdogra. Day 1 New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)/Bagdogra Airport (IXB) - Gangtok (about 130 km/ 4 hours drive)

Warm greetings from Gangtok, the shining pearl of Sikkim’s little state. Because of the city’s lengthy history and reputation as a retreat place, it makes you feel as if you’ve entered a mysterious land.

Our agent will welcome you at the NJP or Bagdogra airport and assist you with transports to Gangtok. This tiny hamlet becomes synonymous with grandeur and appeal due to its stunning height of 1437 metres.

Check into your accommodation and spend the evening strolling around the neighbourhood.

Day 3 Gangtok (Tsomgo Lake Excursion and Baba Mandir)

A day full of stories and adventures awaits you. You begin your day with a healthy meal at 8 a.m. on this day.

Lake Tsomgo

Then, after a 3-hour trip, arrive at 12,400 feet above sea level to visit the beautiful Tsomgo Lake. This ethereally lovely waterbody is a must-see for any traveller. The vistas are lovely, and the richness of flowers in bloom can be seen here, as the water comes from melting snow.

HarbhajanMandir Baba Harbhajan

Then go to the Baba HarbhajanMandir, which stands at a towering 13,200 feet. Harbhajan Singh, an army official who drowned in a nearby stream, is remembered here.

Day 4 Gangtok – Darjeeling (about 110 km / 4 hours drive)

On the fourth day of your Gangtok Darjeeling holiday tour, take a 4-hour drive to Darjeeling, which is known for its charisma.

The breathtaking scenery of the mountains you’ll pass through and the untainted mood of the location will captivate you.

Check into your accommodation in Darjeeling and spend the remainder of the day at your own.

Day 5 Tiger Hill excursion

The fifth day necessitates a very early start. At 4 a.m., drive to Tiger Hill, which is located at a height of 2590 metres. This is your chance to see the stunning sunrise as its rays levitate over Mt. Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak.

The Batasia Loop and the Ghoom Monastery

Stop to the Ghoom Monastery and the Batasia Loop on your way back. The monastery is located among unsurpassed natural splendour, which is a great sight to witness. The Batasia Loop, on the other hand, is unquestionably one of Darjeeling’s most attractive train lines.

When you arrive at the hotel, eat a nutritious breakfast before continuing your sightseeing.

Institute of Himalayan Mountaineering

Visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, which displays a variety of mountaineering equipment, as well as paintings and models depicting mountain life. A ancient scientific telescope can be found here, with a clear view of the towering Khangchendzonga.

Himalayan Zoological Park Padmaja Naidu

The park is home to a variety of Himalayan creatures, including Asiatic black bears, cloud leopards, red pandas, and Tibetan wolves, and spans 67.56 acres at an elevation of 7000 feet.

Tenzing Norgay

Then, head to Tenzing Rock, a favourite rock climbing destination for adventure seekers, and take in an outside perspective of the Chitrey Tea Garden, which is where Darjeeling’s delicious tea is grown.

Day 6 : Darjeeling – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)/Bagdogra Airport (IXB) (88 km/3 hours)

Pelling full day local sightseeing (1800m/5-6 hrs drive/1-2 hrs walk)

After breakfast, get ready to explore the beauty of Pelling and its surroundings. You will start with a visit to Kanchenjunga waterfalls, Darap Village, Rimbi waterfalls, Orange Garden and Khechupelri Lake, Rabdentshe Palace ruins, Pemayangtshe Monastery, Skywalk, and Chenrezik statue. * Kanchenjunga waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls with fresh glacial water * Orange Garden is a small picturesque orange garden by the bank of the Rimbi river. * Khechupelri lake is a sacred holy lake amidst the beautiful dense forest. * Pemayangtse monastery is one of the oldest and most renowned monasteries in Sikkim. * Glass skywalk is a new addition in Pelling located opposite the 137 feet long statue of lord Chenrezik Overnight at the Hotel.

Pelling toRavanglaand Ravangla Sightseeing (2438m/48 kms/2 hrs drive/2-3 hrs sightseeing)

After breakfast, you will drive towards Ravangla. The journey today goes through the scenic landscape, with views of verdant valleys, hills, and snow-capped mountains. Ravangla is a picturesque town on the foothills of the Maenam Hills and offers panoramic views of Mt Kanchenjunga and its group of mountains. On the way, you will visit a unique and only one of its kind Bon Monastery at Kewzing village situated amid a tranquil environment. Upon arrival at Ravangla check into the hotel and get refreshed. Later drive for a second-half excursion to Buddha Park, also known as Tathagata Tsal to explore 130 feet tall colossal statue of Lord Sakyamuni Buddha and its religious complex. Return to the hotel. Ravangla to Namchi local Sightseeing to Ravangla (1315m/80 km/5-6 hrs drive)

Wake up to the beautiful view of the snow-capped maintain range. After a good breakfast gets ready to explore Namchi and around. Start with a visit to Temi Tea Garden, Sikkim only, and certified tea garden which produces supreme quality tea. The tea garden is developed on the slopes of Tendong hills and also offers a classic view of the snow-capped mountain range. One can take a long calm walk in the beautiful tea gardenand also witness cherry blooming on the way. Secondly, drive ahead to visit Samdruptse to visit the tallest statue of Guru Padmasambhava in the world with a height of 135 ft. A further visit to Chardham, a huge pilgrimage and cultural complex which houses the replica of Char Dham. Ravangla to Borong and Hot Spring visit (1768m/20 kms/1 hrs drive/1 hrs hike)

After breakfast gets ready and drives towards Borong. Borong is a beautiful small village situated in a calm and scenic location and is especially popular for its Hot springs and beautiful landscapes. Upon arrival check into the hotel and get ready for a visit to Borong Monastery and Ralang Monastery. Later visit Borong Hot spring and Ralong Hot spring known for their medicinal and therapeutic value. You can soak in the natural spa to experience its goodness and gets their medicinal benefits. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Borong to Siliguri (122m/130 kms/5-6 hrs drive)

5 Nights 6 Days Sikkim Trip Itinerary – Attractions, Places to stay

Sikkim is a beautiful state blessed with pristine nature. There are many natural attractions like hills, waterfalls, lakes, valleys, etc.

In case you are traveling to Sikkim from West Bengal or other neighboring areas, you can easily cover the famous attractions of the state in 6 days.

In this post, I will tell you about my recent 6 days Sikkim trip and the areas I covered during that time. I am starting this itinerary from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) station to help you better plan out your trip.

Apart from these, there are many other less famous yet beautiful places that can be covered in this itinerary.

Sikkim trip Itinerary (5 Nights 6 Days)

Day 1: njp to gangtok.

We got off the train at around 6:30 -7:00 AM at NJP and went out of the station to find a car/jeep. After bargaining for 10 mins for the rental car fare, we opted for the shared car and the price per person was approx. Rs. 160-250.

After settling in the car, we finally started our journey toward Sikkim. It took about four hours to reach Gangtok. In between, we got down to enjoy some good breakfast with chai and steamed momos.

We have already booked our hotels in advance through MakeMyTrip . It was situated near the MG Marg. So we got to our rooms and had lunch.

In the evening, we all went out to the mall and MG Marg to have some fun and delicacies of Sikkim. The evening atmosphere in MG Marg is charming.

DAY 2: Gangtok to Namchi and Ravangla

After resting through the night, the next morning we went to the enchanting sites of Namchi and Ravangla. The scenic beauty along with the hydrangeas and pine forests are mesmerizing. So many stunning places are there to be seen and adore on the way. We got to Namchi and went for all sightseeing there, Solophok Chardham, Tendong state biodiversity park and so many other places.

The following journey was towards Ravangla. Going around one hill to another amongst all the clouds and lush greenery we reached buddha park. Covered with rhododendrons and hydrangeas, the park gives a panoramic view of the rolling hills and valleys.

Numerous pleasant spots fill the eyes with peace and the various colored flags on the way are enchanting.

DAY 3: Gangtok to Changu Lake and Nathula Pass

East Sikkim has a lot to offer a lot including the mystical Tsomgo lake (one of the famous lakes in Sikkim ) and the Nathula pass. On our third day, we got on the road toward the magnificent place that was to be explored by us.

The fascinating lake, Baba mandir, Zuluk, and many more places welcome us with all their glory and beauty. Numerous spots and sites were there where we got off while on the road, just to absorb all the wild beauty of the peaks and the passing by clouds.

All these places require prior permission to visit, which you can get by asking for help from your tour guide or by enquiring with the tourism office at Gangtok. We made our permits a day before as we were also traveling to the Nathula pass.

Visiting the Nathula pass in one day along with all the other places is optional and you might go if you have got time. Also, we made sure to spend a good time in every place we went.

DAY 4: Gangtok to Lachung

The next day, it took us around 4 hours and 40 minutes to reach Lachung. To visit Lachung, an inner line permit is required as well. The alluring place was serene and mesmerizing to be at. We stayed there one night to enjoy and feel the mountainous atmosphere and the locality was stunning.

It is near the Tibet border. The thrill was out of a world good. The small hamlet was the most picturesque place we had come across. Valleys, lakes, waterfalls, apricots, peaches, and apples wrapped the village like a warm blanket.

The seven sister falls, Lungma Dara viewpoint, and a few more interesting sites come on the way toward Lachung.

The rocky terrain of the high mountains was brimming with tranquillity and made us feel at peace. Us friends were all over the place and enjoyed every moment we were there. This is a must-visit if you are in Sikkim and do not forget about the local cuisines that give you the flavors of Sikkim.

DAY 5: Lachung to Zero Point and Yumthang Valley

After resting at our homestay in Lachung, we went out to explore Zero Point and Yumthang Valley. These two points are like dreams in reality. Along the road, we came across many other characteristic sights and each was exceptional in their ways. 

We kept the whole day for sightseeing and visiting Zero Point and Yumthang. Started very early in the morning, and we planned of covering all the points possible. Nature in the northern part of Sikkim is in its raw form. 

Dropping by all the places, looking around, and absorbing the atmosphere, was like a magical fairy tale coming true. Lachen, Thangu, and the list of places goes on. If you have enough time, you will be able to cover as many as possible. Although if you are planning of witnessing the zero point, make sure to have a valid permit made prior to your visit.

DAY 6: Lachung to NJP

On the morning of the 6th day, we had our breakfast and headed straight to NJP. It was about a 6-hour drive from Lachung. The road and the surrounding sceneries were amazing, filled with the same happiness and satisfaction, as we had experienced on the first day we arrived.

It was the last morning driving through the paths of Sikkim and was wonderful. We reached NJP in the late evening and waited for our train inside the station.

Planning to visit Sikkim was an incredible idea and we are so glad that we got around a lot of places and numerous others are left to be explored, the next time we visit.

*DAY 1: NJP TO GANGTOK*

Guest will be received by our official at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus (Junction) - He will assist you for the forwarding journey to Gangtok - Nearly 135 Kilometers, 3 - 4 hours drive - A perfect destination for tourist in search of enchantment, tranquility, trekking or any other adventure - Land of monastery, mystic rituals / festivals at an elevation of 1,437 meters / 4,715 feet is the most often visited spot of India for its rare Orchids and Butterflies - In the evening one is free to stroll around M G Marg / Local Market - Over night stay at Gangtok

*DAY 2: GANGTOK TO LACHEN (SHARING TOUR)*

Next the vehicle will report for North Sikkim with permit FROM VAJRA STAND AT 10:30AM -Drive to Lachen - Chungthang is nearly 96 kilometers from Gangtok - On the way stop at Chungthang - Next drive for 29 kilometers from Chungthang to Lachen - Reach Lachung late afternoon / early evening - The infrastructure is not good due to the remoteness and the snowfall / Rainfall - The place is worth visiting - Check into a hotel - Welcome Tea - Evening free to stroll - Overnight stay at Hotel in Lachen

*DAY 3: GANGTOK TO LACHUNG (SHARING TOUR)*

The route is Lachen - Gurudongmar lake - Lachen - Drive 55 kilometers from Lachen stop at 15000 feet for permit to be signed - Drive the rest and visit to Gurudongmar Lake - 3 hour - A valley at an altitude of nearly 15 800 feet through which Lachen Chu flows - This is a holy Lake and is one of the most sacred place of worship for the Buddhist - The Lake gets frozen during winter barring a stretch which remains as water even at - 20 C - The region is generally covered with snow from December to April - This is a stretch of cold desert till Tibet / China - While returning have lunch at Lachen - After Lunch drive to Lachung - Overnight stay at Hotel in Lachung.

*DAY 4: LACHUNG TO YUMTHANG GANGTOK (SHARING TOUR)*

Early morning breakfast - Visit to Yumthang i.e. 25 kilometers, 2 hour - A valley at an altitude of 11800 feet through which Lachung Chu flows, generally covered with snow from December to April or even more is known as the valley of flowers - Guest can spend a few hours at Yumthang - The vast Valley stretches and is a cold desert till Tibet / China - The region is fully covered with snow and Rhododendron forest - Back to hotel for lunch / Packed Lunch - Proceed to Gangtok - Afternoon drive to Gangtok 130 Kilometers, 5 hours - Drop at Vajra stand. Check-in hotel at night.

*DAY 5: BACK TO NJP/IXB*

Early morning breakfast - Drive to Siliguri, on the way to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) - It is approximately 130 kilometers and 4 to 5 hours drive - The road will be bit busy and jam is frequent - The drive will be along the River Teesta - Stoppage at Jorethang / Chitrey or Melli for a cup of Tea is advisable - One stop at Coronation bridge if time permits - One will travel through the area of natural beauty - Rafting on the way is an optional (Most operators are not Registered with any Government wing hence try to avoid the same) - Drive to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) /Siliguri - Guest are advised to start early and not to rush - Forwarding Journey.

On your way back do visit Batasia Loop and Ghoom Monastery. Tiger Hill Offering you the most sweeping views of sunrise, Tiger Hill is not just a place that provides you with breathtaking views of snow-clad mountains or the changing colours of hilltops rather it’s a place where in your eyes soak the Himalayan beauty at any time of the day. People who visit Darjeeling make it a point to visit this place no matter what. It is the highest point among the Darjeeling hills, hence ensures you an enthralling sightseeing experience. Batasia Loop Commissioned in 1919, Batasia Loop forms one of the most picturesque train routes in West Bengal’s Darjeeling. Ghoom Monastery Old Ghoom Monastery also spelt as Ghum Monastery is known for the 15 feet tall statue of the Maitreya Buddha. It belongs to the Yellow Hat sect or the Gelukpa. Also, this is the oldest Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries to be built in the petite town of Darjeeling. Reach your hotel and relax for some time. Tenzing Rock The Gigantic Natural rock was named after Tenzing Norgay, the man who created an uproar in the mountaineering history after climbing Mt.Everest with Edmund Hillary in the year 1953. In the direction of facing the rock, the left side of the cliff is used by mountaineers and trainees while the right side is reserved for tourists. Japanese Temple Located at a 10 minutes driving distance from Darjeeling Town Centre is this Japanese style built two storied temple which is also known by the name of Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple. The temple possessing traditional Japanese architecture was built in 1972. Peace Pagoda The Peace Pagoda was designed to provide a platform for people of all genders and races to help them unite with each other and take a step towards peacebuilding. It was constructed under a Buddhist monk, Nichidatsu Fujii’s guidance who was the founder of Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park Opened in 1958; the zoo is the largest high altitude zoo with an elevation of 7,000 feet in India. Every year around 3,00,000 visitors marks their presence t the zoo. Named after Sarojini Naidu’s daughter Padmaja Naidu, the zoo has an off-display breeding centre for red pandas and snow leopards. The zoo also provides shelter to the blue sheep, grey peacock pheasant, Himalayan tahr, Himalayan salamander, and Tibetan wolf, etc. Also, it remains closed on Thursdays. Chitrey Tea Garden Chitre, a small hamlet in Darjeeling is tucked in lush green tea gardens having the might Kanchenjunga in its backdrop. It is an isolated spot where tourists make a pit stop for refreshing themselves. The place has tea stalls having tea made up of fresh tea leaves from the nearby gardens. After having a day full of wandering around Darjeeling get back to your hotel and have your lunch. During the evening time, visit the Mall Road and Chowrasta. DAY 3 : Darjeeling – Gangtok (4 Hours Drive/110 KM)

DAY 4 : Gangtok (Full day local sightseeing)

Near to this is a small cafe which offers some good food and drinks. Bakthang Waterfalls Located in North Sikkim, these are among the most beautiful waterfalls you will ever come across. Though the fall is shorter in height, its width is what makes all the difference. It makes it look more charming and graceful. The waterfall is worth halting at. Enchey Monastery Established in 1909, the Monastery finds itself on a stunning ridge above the hill in Gangtok. Going by its literal meaning, i.e. ‘Solitary Monastery,’ it is considered sacred because of its protecting deities Khangchendzonga and Yabdean, who reside within the monastery. It is believed that these deities fulfil every wish of a truthful devotee. Do Drul Chorten Stupa Dro-dul Chorten is a stupa in Gangtok which was built by Trulshik Rinpoche in 1945. He was the head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. The stupa houses Kangyur relics, Dorjee Phurba and other religious books. There are 108 prayer wheels around it. Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom began its journey with its establishment in 1957. With objectives such as achieving a high level of human participation in skill development, preserving and reviving the Traditional arts and crafts of Sikkim, generating employment for handicrafts and handloom sector, and last but not the least, promoting policy-oriented schemes by the government, it has been successfully runny from decades. Also, it is a go-to place for art lovers. Ropeway & Banjhakri Falls Set at a four kms distance from the town, Banjhakri falls, is known for its breathtaking beauty. Plunging from a 70 ft height; the falls promise you a day full of excitement and tranquillity. The lush green neighbours of the falls make it look more charming than ever. The main attraction is the footbridge built over the stream. Near to it is a park that offers some adventure activities and ropeway is one of them. Flower Show Ridge Park and Flower Exhibition centre is known for the most exotic collection of blossoming flowers. If you wish to encounter the floral beauty at its best, make a move here. Institute of Tibetology Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is a Tibet museum the foundation stone of which was laid by the 14th Dalai Lama on 10 February 1957. It takes onto the research of Tibetan people’s culture, history, religion, and language. The Museum here has the rarest of the rare books based on Tibetology. After visiting the above-listed locations, head back to your hotel, have your dinner, and go for a peaceful sleep.

DAY 5 : Gangtok ( Tsomgo Lake Excursion and Baba Mandir)

Your day has to start quite early. Have something light before you begin for Tsomgo Lake and Baba Harbhajan Mandir at 8:00 AM. Tsomgo Lake Located at the height of 12,313 ft, Tsomgo Lake or the Changu Lake is 40 kms away from Gangtok. The glacial lake is considered sacred by the people of North-East. About 50 metres deep, the lake is surrounded by lush green landscapes making it a treat to your eyes. On a day when the sun is on leave, you will find this lake in a veil of mist making it look more heavenly. Baba Harbhajan Mandir Near to the Tsomgo Lake is the Baba Mandir which is also a memorial of the legendary Baba Harbhajan Singh. It is a unique site of attraction in Sikkim which the locals and tourists visit with all their heart. The water at this shrine is known for its healing powers. It is said to cure almost all possible ailments. The water is believed to be consumed within 21 days, and neither the ailing person nor his family members are allowed to eat non-vegetarian food in these few days. After visiting these miraculous places, make your way back to your hotel. Spend your evening in complete relaxation. Have your dinner and set yourself to a calming sleep.

DAY 6 : Gangtok – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB) ( 130km/4 hrs drive)
