Platinum-selling English pop rock duo Tears For Fears is one of the early purveyors of the new wave synthesizer movement in the early ‘80s. Emerging in 1981 from Somerset, England, the band is responsible for belting out several new wave hits, such as “Change,” “Mad World,” “Everybody Wants to Rule the Word,” and “Shout,” among others. Tears For Fears basically ruled the ‘80s and heavily influenced and changed pop music for the better. Early in their career, the band was initially called Graduate, founded by Orzabal and Smith. They performed in a subculture genre called the mod revival and self-released their debut album in 1980.

The duo reinvented and renamed themselves Tears for Fear. In 1983, they dropped their debut studio album, The Hurting. The album became an instant success thanks to massive hit singles “Mad World,” “Pale Shelter, and “Change.” The album topped the U.K. charts and entered the U.S. Billboard 200 and Top Rock Albums. The band also made an international breakthrough and entered the charts in five other countries. Tears For Fears were revered for creating a record “simply one of the strongest, most fully-realized albums of the early-to-mid-1980s.”

After their stellar debut, Tears For Fears released their sophomore effort, Songs from the Big Chair, three years later. The album notably topped the Billboard 200 in the U.S., marking the band’s phenomenal commercial success in North America. Meanwhile, they remained one of the top artists in the U.K. after landing at number 2 on the Official Charts Company. The 1983 album spawned several smashing hits, such as “Shout” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” Both singles became the band’s biggest hits, earning platinum and gold certifications in several countries. The singles also topped the charts in the U.S., peaking at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1989, Tears For Fears released their third effort, The Seeds of Love. The album, which featured the singles “Sowing the Seeds of Love” and “Woman in Chains,” became the band’s second record to go number in the U.K. It also earned several platinum certifications in various markets, including the U.S. and the U.K.

The ‘80s phenoms welcomed the next decade with critically-acclaimed, chart-performing efforts, such as Elemental, Raoul, and the Kings of Spain. In the 200s0, Tears For Fears remained a prolific live act but only released one record, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. Last year, the duo released their first record in 18 years. The Tipping Point was dropped in the spring of 2022 and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200. The highly-anticipated record spawned several singles, including the title track, which entered the five Billboard charts.

Kicking off in Atlantic City before wrapping up in Los Angeles, they'll be bringing all your favorite hits from the album, alongside the synth-pop perfection of hits like 'Shout','Mad World,' and 'Everybody Wants to Rule The World'.

Famous sons of the picturesque city of Bath, England, Tears for Fears were formed in 1981 and are made up of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Riding the 80s electronic explosion, they gained global recognition in 1985, with second LP, Songs From The Big Chair. Now synonymous with the new wave, the duo's synthesizer-laden pop combined with vulnerable honest lyrics, has proven not only highly influential but still remains as transporting as ever.

Some forty years into one of music’s most impactful, sometimes tense and yet curiously enduring partnerships, Tears For Fears have finally arrived together at The Tipping Point – the group’s ambitious, accomplished and surprising first new studio album in nearly two decades.

Yes, somehow it has been 17 years since the beloved duo released Everybody Loves a Happy Ending in 2004. Yet Tears For Fears has hardly been absent from the road, from our airwaves or from our hearts and minds here in the 21st Century. To the surprise of many – very much including themselves – they have actually become late-blooming road warriors playing arenas, stadiums and festivals in winning form with a new and improved band. Their recordings have been sampled by everyone from The Weeknd to David Guetta to Kanye West and covered by artists ranging from Lorde to Adam Lambert to Disturbed. The timeless, widescreen songs of Tears For Fears have also appeared in many films including Donnie Darko and Straight Outta Compton to name just a few, and the group now find themselves frequently name-checked by numerous younger bands as a classic influence.

And now, at very long last, Tears For Fears find themselves back in peak form at The Tipping Point, an inspired song cycle that speaks powerfully and artfully to our present tense here in 2021. (via Spotify)

RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield announces 2023 concert lineup

Tears for fears, snoop dogg, luke bryan, many more on tap.

The upcoming concert season at RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield will feature a range of musical acts, including a capella powerhouse Pentatonix, ’80s new wavers Tears for Fears, ’90s post-grunge bands Garbage and Matchbox Twenty, rappers Snoop Dogg and Logic, and country stars Hank Williams Jr. and Luke Bryan, among others.

The amphitheater at 17200 N.E. Delfel Road has 18 shows already booked for the season, which begins in May.

Tickets for most concerts start at about $30 for a spot on the lawn and go up to hundreds of dollars for premium seats. More information and links to ticket sales are at www.livenation.com/venue/KovZpZAJld6A .

Tears For Fears Schedule 2023 Dates for ‘the Tipping Point Tour Part II’

Tears For Fears are returning for another slate of shows in support of their latest album, The Turning Point , released last year as their first full-length record in 17 years. The Tipping Point Tour wrapped in New York on June 25, but the newly-announced The Tipping Point Tour Part II will pick up more or less where they left off, in New Jersey on June 23.

Cold War Kids will join Tears For Fears on the new set of North American tour dates. The tour’s second leg is scheduled to begin on June 23 and conclude on Aug. 2 in Los Angeles. In between, the band will make stops in New York, Toronto, Virginia Beach, Franklin, Houston, Denver, Portland, Seattle, Palm Springs, and more.

General sale for the Tipping Point Tour Part II begins Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m. local time via the official Tears For Fears website .

Tears For Fears plots 22-date North American tour this summer with Cold War Kids

Tears For Fears will return to the road this summer with a just-announced 22-date North American tour, the duo’s second trek in support of their new album The Tipping Point and one that will find them supported by alt-rockers Cold War Kids .

The aptly named The Tipping Point Tour: Part II will open June 23 in Atlantic City, N.J., and continue through a date at the Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 2, playing mostly amphitheaters and arenas in 12 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10 a.m. local time Friday, April 7.

Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith released The Tipping Point , their first new record since 2004’s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending , in February 2022.
