7D/6N Gorgeous Guatemala Tour

This trip was a mother & daughter trip for one week. This was our first time in the region (central America) and we had a wonderful time. Itinerary: This itenaray was exactly what I had in mind for a trip to Guatemala. If I designed an itinerary myself, in all honesty, it would have the exact same destinations. Our favorite place was Lake Atitlan but all the rest of the places were are lovely too. The only thing not in the itinerary is Tikal but that is understandable because it is very very far. We did tikal after the ending of this tour and it was nice too. We only had one issue that is worth mentioning about the itinerary. Sadly, neither of us speak Spanish and this meant that the Mayan Homestay was not a good use of our time. The family are kind and welcoming but they speak zero English and so we could not communicate with them at all or even ask questions about them. This made the situation uncomfortable and awkward at times. I think the Mayan Homestay should be recommended only for Spanish speakers because the town they live in is so small that there is nothing to do other than spend the day with the family at the house. If you are not a Spanish speaker, do not do the Mayan Homestay. Transportation: The transportation all week was reliable, safe, clean and mostly punctual. The drivers always knew my name and either had a sign with our names or asked us at pick up so I always felt comfortable getting in the car/bus. The airport transfer is private and so is the transfer from the mayan homestay to panajachel. The rest are little buses that seat 10-14. Those buses offer the opportunity to meet many other lovely tourists doing similar trips to ours. My one complaint is the fact that occasionally we were last on the pickup route which meant we had to sit apart from eachother on several hour bus trips. However, more opportunity to make friends. Accomodation Great choices of accommodation. The hotels were both lovely. The hotel in antigue Is clean, centrally located, and has lovely staff. Both hotels and even the mayan homestay had wifi! Casa del Mundo is one of the most incredible places I've ever seen. I can't say enough positive things about it. Just WOW. I will treasure those photos forever and I hope to bring my husband back on an anniversary trip. The bedroom in the mayan home was clean and welcoming. However, the bathroom is shared with the rather large family and not entirely up to what you're probably used to. We did not feel comfortable showering there so shower in Antigua in the morning before you leave! Overall, excellent hotel choices. Meals There's quite little to say about the meals in general because the only meals included are at the mayan homestay. The hotels offer breakfast but we only ate breakfast at the Antigua hotel. It is a tiny bit more expensive than what you'd pay in town but the hygene and proximity made it worth it. They served eggs, toast, plantains, jam, orange juice and coffee. I recommend! The rest of the mornings were too early departure and we weren't hungry so we just skipped straight to lunch. One thing to note, Casa del Mundo is very remote so you have to eat dinner there. There are positives and negatives to this. First, It's more expensive than what you'd pay anywhere else. Second, the food was probably the worst we ate during our entire stay in Guatemala. They try to make it more 'haute cuisine' but we didn't enjoy the taste at all; maybe you'll get luckier. The positive is that they push all the tables together and all the guests in this rather small hotel get to eat together and meet. We had the best time having conversations with other travelers who were all fascinating and so friendly. it's worth it for that experience alone, but don't expect excellent food. Honestly, I think for the price of the tour, it's ok that there isn't many meals included. In sum, we loved this tour. Guatemala has forever earned a place in our hearts and we are excited to return to central America at the soonest opportunity. One tip: know that this tour is jam-packed. Don't expect much relaxation, understand that if you want to see a country as vibrant and unique as Guatemala in a mere 5 days, you'll be busy and have many early morning pick-ups. This is not a negative, just something to consider. Overall, I'd travel with Marvelus again anytime and for the price, it is undeniably the best way to travel through Guatemala. So easy and SO worth it; everyone on the mini buses was jealous of us that we did it with marvelus and not by organizing everything ourselves. Truly marvelous.

The tour provided by Mayan Sky was good except for the fact that the itinerary was changed and Receptivo Aborigen Tours which was responsible for the booking did not warn about it beforehand. Another fact is the wrong info that I was given before the tour about the payment for the inner flight [Removed in Moderation] but then it turned out that I had to pay additional $250 for the flight that was in the tour (Guatemala City - Flores and back)

Things that were great: The shuttle pick-ups were reliable and close to on-time. The places the tour took me were exactly where I wanted to go. The price was right. Things that were not great: The Kakchiquel hotel in Panajachel didn't have hot water and was not very clean (felt like a flophouse). The shuttle from Panajachel to Antigua stopped 30 minutes into the 2 hour ride because the driver got a phone call saying there were more passengers for him to take. We idled on the side of the road for 30 minutes waiting for these late passengers to be driven to where we were waiting. That was weird, and it delayed the whole bus load getting to Antigua.

El Mirador Heli-tour is an exceptional adventure that will transfer across the fantastic and millenarian Mayan rainforest looking for the lost city of El Mirador.

A natural wonder proposed as a UNESCO cultural and natural heritage site, on the basis of its exuberant jungle and the variety of wildlife that inhabit as well as the archeological value of the most significant city of the Mayan world.

Our knowledgeable tour guide will take us on a journey through history visiting El Tigre complex, Los Monos Group, and The Jaguar’s Claw Temple

This complex displays significant decorated masks of over three meters of height by two in width, where the name of this pyramid, The Tiger, is taken.

Then we will visit the central Acropolis where the structure 313 shows five stages of the building.

As well as in its back we are going to find shreds of proof of the canals that the Mayas of these times were utilized to transport water.

Within this building, we can look for a carved panel with the design of twin brothers.

Hunahpu and Ixbalanque, mystic creatures from the holy book of the Mayas, the Popol Vuh.

To conclude our Adventure in El Mirador, we are going to visit the fantastic pyramid of “La Danta.”

La banda argentina Usted Señálemelo ofrecerá un concierto en Guatemala que formará parte de la gira “Tripolar Tour 2024”, y sus músicos afirman que están listos para compartir con sus seguidores locales.

Formada en Argentina en 2008, Usted Señálemelo es una agrupación de indie rock que ha evolucionado en la escena musical mundial con sus creaciones y ha logrado el respaldo de miles de admiradores en Latinoamérica.

Integrada en la actualidad por Juan Saieg (voz y teclado), Gabriel "Cocó" Orozco (guitarra), y Lucca Beguerie Petrich (batería), la banda cuenta con la producción de tres álbumes Usted Señálemelo (2015), II (2017), y Tripolar (2023).

Tanto Juan, “Cocó” y Lucca, han mostrado interés por cruzar fronteras con sus canciones. Además, continúan en la búsqueda por llevar sus mensajes a una propuesta interdisciplinaria, lo que los motivó a crear una serie de videoclips junto a directores con los que profundizaron en su veta audiovisual, siendo el último de ellos Salto al espacio , una pieza en la que ellos mismos son los protagonistas.

En mayo de 2023, la banda publicó Tripolar , su tercer álbum y de acuerdo con sus músicos, esa producción permitió llegar al corazón del pop rock de la región y llevó su música a los principales escenarios y festivales de Latinoamérica.

Usted Señálemelo también obtuvo otro alcance y la banda llegó a nuevos públicos de Norteamérica y Europa. Además, les permitió arrancar con la gira Tripolar Tour , la cual se extendió este año y por primera vez llegarán a territorio centroamericano.

Cuando es el concierto de Usted Señálemelo en Guatemala 2024

De acuerdo con la productora local 2 Mundos, el grupo argentino Usted Señálemelo ofrecerá un concierto en el país, el domingo 12 de mayo, a las 19 horas, en el Parque de la Industria.

Las entradas se pueden adquirir en pre-venta a Q250 en la web oficial de 2mundos.shop.

Según 2 Mundos, la presentación de Usted Señálemelo forma parte de “Melómano Domingo”, una serie de eventos de domingo, cuyo espacio es creado para dar respiro a la semana, en el que cada asistente podrá conocer a nuevas propuestas musicales.

“Melómano Domingo” contará con una sección de mercado musical con marcas enfocadas en venta de vinilos, cassettes , discos, mercadería de artistas, instrumentos y accesorios, entre otros. Además, la promotora indicó que contarán con selecciones musicales por diferentes disqueras/proyectos relevantes al ecosistema musical local, previos al concierto, así como un bingo musical que se jugará con el público en el transcurso del evento.

Convencidos de ofrecer un espectáculo especial en Guatemala, Usted Señálemelo concedió una entrevista a Prensa Libre y Juan Saieg, vocalista de la banda, dio detalles de la gira y de su presentación en el país.

“Estamos felices de esta aventura y de poder llegar a Guatemala. La verdad, siempre nos dan ganas de apostar en ir a lugares nuevos también y de llevar nuestra música a más lugares, pero por ahora, disfrutando de estos instantes en Centroamérica porque son lugares a los que nunca en la vida hubiéramos imaginado visitar”, dijo Juan.

En cuanto a la expectativa del show , el vocalista indicó que quieren conectar con el público guatemalteco y que garantizan una experiencia especial.

“Realmente no hacemos un análisis grande cuando empezamos a desarrollar el show para un lugar nuevo, porque simplemente queremos conectar con la naturaleza de cada uno, con lo más honesto posible y claro, dispuestos a dar lo mejor de nosotros, de brindar una experiencia con calidad y algo íntimo para estar lo más cercano al público”, agregó.

“Siempre hemos apostado a tocar en nuevos lugares y visitar ciudades que también nos llenen de inspiración para seguir haciendo música. Además, este tour Tripolar se ha caracterizado por la simpleza y conexión con nuestros admiradores y en Guatemala esperamos enganchar y conquistar corazones”, dijo Juan.

En esta ocasión, Usted Señálemelo presentará temas del álbum Tripolar y éxitos de otras producciones. “Vamos a presentar este disco por completo, pero como es la primera vez que vamos a Guatemala, aprovecharemos para tocar temas que no tocamos hace mucho tiempo”, añadió.

“Tenemos muchas ganas de conocer a los guatemaltecos, de ver qué pasa durante el concierto, pero también de compartir y cantar en el país que nos ha apoyado tanto”, concluyó.

Running Tours: What to Expect and Where to Try One

S ix years ago, I suffered through one of the worst bouts of jet lag in my life. I had been traveling in Southeast Asia for about 10 days, but my mind and body were still stuck in Vampire mode. When I arrived in Siem Reap in Cambodia, my hotel concierge suggested I go for an early morning run to Angkor Wat. It would be a simple 5K, he told me-a scenic run that would recalibrate my body clock. I had a pair of sneakers and limited experience as a runner. He gave me a 5 a.m. appointment with the general manager, who would be my guide.

That morning, I ran from the city to the temples and arrived just in time to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat. The experience put me on a runner's high and made me a travel runner, aka that person who schedules a run in every city they visit. Over the years, I've run with guides in Tokyo, Washington, D.C., Torino, Italy, and more. I've even curated my own runs, reading about sites I've wanted to see in cities including Milan and Athens and dropping pins for my personalized 5K tour.

The advantage of running tours? "You explore the sites at your own pace, learn about the culture, see areas you might never have discovered on your own, and really focus on being present," says Lena Andersson, founder of Go! Running Tours, a company operating in more than 65 cities and six continents. "You just need a pair of running shoes and an open mind."

Running tours, long or short, immerse you in a location and its vibe. They cover more ground in less time than a walking tour, leaving more time to take in some lesser-known sites. Plus, you don't have the headache of parking and locking up a two-wheeler like you would if you were sightseeing by bike. A running tour isn't just about culture, curiosity, and combatting jet lag; it also brings a sense of accomplishment.

What to expect on a running tour

Running tours are usually a mix of running, site stops, and brisk walking. Most guides will share anecdotes as you run, but don't feel like you need to keep up a conversation. Shorter running tours tend to average five kilometers (which takes about an hour), but you can find tours that go 10 kilometers or longer. Safety is always a priority, so guides use their expertise to design paths that avoid highly trafficked roads. You can schedule a running tour for any time of the day, but early morning hours are better for avoiding crowds.

There are two main types of tours: private and group. The advantage of a private running tour is personalization-you set the pace, intensity, and distance. Want to run Rome's imperial monuments, baroque piazzas, and enjoy the Eternal City's best cappuccino spots? You can do that.

"Private tours are ideal because you set the pace, the goals, and what you want to do," says Raoul Spronken, founder of RunningTours.Net , an online marketplace for independent running tours around the world.

Group tours, on the other hand, are follow-the-leader runs. They can bring together more than 20 people for a set route, though some tours have multiple guides to create smaller groups when necessary. It's a fun way to meet people, but it has no room for improvisation.

Where to go on a running tour

The beauty of running is that you can do it anywhere: a capital city, a quiet town, a coast, or even a mountain peak. The following tours immerse you in a location, be in the context of history, landscape, or culture.

My hometown favorite: This Ancient Rome–focused running tour starts at the epic Circus Maximus and takes you across antiquity's oldest bridges. Licensed tour guide and devout runner Isabella Calidonna stops at Ancient Rome's epic bridges (like the ancient Ponte Rotto) to tell their histories and relationships to nearby monuments. Over the approximately five-kilometer run, Calidonna also points out lesser-known historical information.

Go! Running Antigua Guatemala

This 5K tour through Antigua, Guatemala, is all about baroque architecture, mountain views, and UNESCO World Heritage sites. Runners pass through the historic center and witness Mayan culture and contemporary life at places including the Cathedral of San José, the ruins of the Santa Clara convent, and the Santa Catalina Arch.

Besides getting a glimpse into the lives of Kenya's elite runners, travelers can get running and training tips for their own workouts.
