The Travellers Rest is an old traditional country pub with friendly staff and lots of regulars. Good food and a drink, who can want more. It is within an easy stroll of the local cabin park and caravan park too.

Here we are 1.20 mins since arriving and ordering a meal wAITING for it to be served. I'm over it, but if I leave I go hungry.

Friendly staff, easy going place. Vegie stir-fry was very good, the schnitty with mash and vegies was tasteful. It's nice to have an option between mash, fries, salad and vegies. I got a random mix of vegies (fresh and frozen) and a tasty (fresh) mash. It felt like it was cooked by someone who cares and not trying to go over the top. We had a good country meal on the veranda outside and noticed a lot of locals coming in as well.

Awesome! Lovely meal great service what more could you want. The food is cooked to perfection the bar staff are both friendly and well informed. Had a great night!

Delicious meal just around the corner from our accommodation. Family friendly with lots of travellers. The one guy behind the bar was friendly and helpful.

The meal was excellent, chicken snitty, crumbed on site, delicious! Good vibe and fair prices on everything. Worth visiting! 😀

Seriously can’t understand the earlier negative reviews! We two couples just returned from a lovely meal and drinks at a friendly country style pub. Meals were freshly made and reasonably priced. What’s not to like! Meals included fresh fish, prawns and chicken in a clean family run pub. Would highly recommend!

We had dinner here the other night. My son had a kids fish n chips and I had the Scotch fillet (Medium) and chips. I’m not after a gourmet meal out at these places, but I do expect reasonable service and food. Honestly the microwaves must be running red hot in the kitchen. My son could only eat his chips and some of the batter off the fish. My steak came out later. The defrost button must not be working properly on the microwave. I’m doubtful the steak was Scotch fillet at that toughness. I would only visit for a drink and avoid the food!

Had the southern fried chicken burger. The whole thing was obviously microwaved. The chicken was tough and the bun was so soggy it disintegrated. My partner had a schnitzel that could have substituted for a saddle. A less than happy ending to a our holiday!

I feel sorry for the owners.. One barman over charged, and had to hand out cash to a patron from the till. Later the same staff gave incorrect change, messed up our food order, charged double what he should for a packet of chips, and... seemed to be spaced out the entire afternoon. Not a great look, and the worst service i've encountered anywhere, in years! Owners need to seriously look at how their staff (a staff member) represents the hotel! More

The Travellers Rest Hotel was established in 1908 , and passed through four generations of ownership until 2016 . The building that we see today was built in 1937 at a time of peak farming activity in Thorpdale. Located a stones throw from the old Thorpdale Railway station, the hotel was designed to cater for local needs and an increasing amount of road traffic at ' this hitherto unknown beauty spot '. 

Originally founded as a hotel and a general store, the business is now an iconic destination for locals and travellers to this region as a gastro pub with meals, drinks and accommodation.
