Barcelona is really big. It’s the second-most-populous city in Spain. This makes it nearly impossible to see all the sights without a plan in advance. Luckily, we have several tours to make your Barcelona vacation one that you won’t soon forget! Here are the best Barcelona tours to take.

Pro Tip: Planning ahead will help your trip run smoothly, so consider bookmarking this page in your browser. Also, check out our guide to Barcelona —it has helpful information about restaurants, hotels, and activities.

Should You Take a Tour of Barcelona?

Barcelona is a great city to visit, which shows in the number of visitors here each year. This is due to the density of cultural attractions, great food, beautiful landscapes, and really fun people. That said, what should you do when in the city?

Well-organized small group tours are a great way to introduce yourself to a city and learn things that you wouldn’t learn on your own. Tours take a lot of the guesswork out of visiting attractions and you get great knowledge from a local.

Meeting locals comes with many other perks such as picking their brain about other great places to visit, restaurants, and where to go out at night. A tapas bar that locals love is going to be so much better than a tourist trap. These are just a few reasons why taking a tour in Barcelona is totally worth it. Here are some of our best Barcelona tours and some reviews from real customers!

In just a few hours, you’ll see celebrated architect Antoni Gaudí’s greatest works, including skip-the-line tickets to Casa Battló and Sagrada Família. This day tour is the perfect option to check every Barcelona must-see attraction off your itinerary list.

2. Skip the Line Sagrada Familia Tour

barcelona land tours

The Sagrada Família is not only one of the most celebrated buildings in Barcelona but in the entire world. With its highly decorative towers, this church is one of the most visited buildings due to its unique design. You can look at the architecture and have no idea the stories behind it, or you can go with a super knowledgeable guide who brings it to life.

Due to its popularity, the tower is typically plagued by long lines and even longer waits. What’s worse is that tickets often sell out quickly, meaning you might waste time in a line for nothing. The solution is to book ahead with a tour group to ensure guaranteed access and a memorable visit. Best of all, with us you’ll skip the line and save your vacation time!

3. Barcelona Food and Wine Tour with a Local Sommelier

barcelona land tours

Eat your way through Barcelona with this fun and popular food tour. Centered around the vibrant neighborhoods of Poble Sec and Sant Antoni, this tour includes a variety of local, authentic cuisine, including Barcelona’s best tapas and a traditional Spanish dinner at a Barcelona bodega. These aren’t your typical bodegas; these are beautiful restaurants brimming with vibrancy, culture, and local food.

Before you think this tour is all about the food, trust us that you’ll wash it all down with traditional Spanish vermouth and cava (sparkling wine). With your local sommelier guide, explore some wine pairings. By the end of this tour, you’ll have tasted your way through Spanish history, and learned quite a few things along the way. It’s, hands down, the most in-depth food tour in Barcelona and not one to miss.

4. Montserrat Day Trips from Barcelona to the Monastery

view of montserrat monastery

If you’re visiting Barcelona and want to get out of the city for a little bit, this is the tour for you. Away from the traffic and bustle of the city, atop the Montserrat mountain, sits an 11th-century monastery dedicated to Our Lady of Montserrat.

This trip includes air-conditioned transportation from the city, tickets for the cogwheel train to the monastery, and breathtaking views of Barcelona and the sea. Along with the beautiful vistas, check out a local market filled with fresh goods. Maybe even take time for a short hike. On the longer tour, you’ll have time to ride the second funicular beyond the monastery too!

5. Barcelona in Half a Day on an Electric Bike

a couple enjoy a cycling tour. One of our best tours in Barcelona

Walking tours are fun, but e-bike tours are another kind of fun. If you enjoy seeing even more of a city than you can explore on foot, then a Barcelona e-bike tour is one to consider. You won’t even have to work super hard since e-bikes come with pedal assisted technology to help you cycle easily through the city—hills or no hills.

This tour takes you past the famous Sagrada Família, and through the Gothic Quarter before seeing Olympic Village and Port Vell for incredible views of the Mediterranean. In just half a day, you’ll explore more of Barcelona’s top areas so you can really get to know this beautiful city.

6. Barcelona Scenic Cruises by Sailboat

Group enjoy a cruise, on one of the best tours of Barcelona

Part of the attraction to Barcelona is the warm weather and coastal views which is why cruises are so popular there! While we love historical tours and activities, its nice to take a breather on a sailboat with a cold beverage in hand.

We have partnered with locals who run small group and great cruise experiences along the coast of Barcelona. Many activities include drinks, stops for swimming when the weather is appropriate, and snacks. Check out all our watersport activities in Barcelona!

7. Montserrat Monastery and Horse Riding Tour

a group horseback riding in Montserrat, one of the best tours in Barcelona

A pilgrimage to the Montserrat Monastery should be on any traveler’s list of things to do in Barcelona. How about mixing it with an unforgettable horseriding experience through the unimaginably beautiful grassy valleys, with the high peaks of the Montserrat mountain range in the backdrop?

With this experience, you will do both. You’ll start with an early morning scenic transfer from Barcelona into the Montserrat mountain range, where you’ll be ready to conquer the first big highlight of the day–a horseback riding excursion through the valleys.

Then, continue to the Montserrat Monastery for a guided tour. You’ll visit the Basilica of Santa Maria de Montserrat before exploring the town and returning to Barcelona—a perfect day trip.

  • Return transport from Barcelona
  • Guided horseback ride
  • Visit the Montserrat Abbey
  • Free time to explore after a visit to the Monastery
  • Expert, English-speaking guide
  • Intriguing destination information
  • Monastery entrance ticket
  • Maximum group size of 8

Barcelona Tours – Land, Sea & Air Experience

Book this three part private tour in Barcelona

  • Private Tours
  • Sightseeing Tours

Book the Barcelona Tours Land Sea and Air Experience!

Barcelona is a super active and busy city, and the Barcelona 360°– Land, Sea & Air tour is the perfect way to both be part of an escape from the crowded metropolitan centre. Experience the best of this fantastic location and the world-famous Mediterranean lifestyle from three unique perspectives.

Barcelona: A Multifaceted City

Be transported both physically and mentally through, above and away from the beautiful city by travelling across the ground, through the air and over the waves of the blue Mediterranean Sea. This is the perfect way to bring your private group together and keep them interested and excited about the city they are in. With these three exclusive viewpoints of Barcelona, your guests will be bowled over. Regardless of your reason for being in Barcelona, this Land, Sea & Air experience is sure to impress and amaze.

Has your trip been for business? Use it as a treat at the end of a long corporate event to help your team to first connect and then retreat from the stunning, bustling Catalan capital. Just here for pleasure? This tour is a triple threat when it comes to entertaining and impressing holidaymakers.

Barcelona is a city that is so easy to travel around. While you can walk around the old streets, cycling allows you to see so much more in a shorter space of time. What if your group don’t feel like straining themselves pedalling across town? That is where our fabulous eBikes come in.

Make every part of the journey feel like a downhill glide with an electrically assisted bike. Suitable for people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels, an eBike allows your private group to traverse Barcelona with ease and in style, as well as quickly and quietly. An expert guide will help you discover the best things to see from the comfort of your saddle and open up the city in a way you will never experience on foot.

No one can resist the lure of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s sparkling blue waters have enticed many a traveller to Barcelona’s beaches and the only thing better than a dip in her cool waters is to glide over them on a boat. Bob gently up and down on the waves as you take in the view of Barcelona’s pristine coastline. Look at the crowded beaches from your peaceful seat on the sea and let the ebb and flow of the water help your group unwind and relax. Your private tour group will be sure to be hypnotised by this dazzling experience.

Think you’ve seen Barcelona in every possible way? What about from above? Originally built in 1970, the Montjuic Cable Car was closed for three years between 2004 and 2007 for a complete renovation. Fast forward ten years and the securely closed cabins are still offering spectacular aerial views of Barcelona.

Skip the hike up to one of Barcelona’s vistas and instead float across the sky to take in all the best sights and then look down on it all from the top of Montjuic, Barcelona’s tranquil hill by the sea.

It was a very good trip. The guide Paulina is well equipped with the history of the places we went to and had a very positive way of getting the concentration of the people in the trip. I can only hope to have more trips like this one. More power to you, Paulina!

Welcome to Spain

When you travel to Spain with Tauck, you'll feel the passion of this sun-blessed country come to life in every destination visited – a fiesta where everyone seems to be invited.

Madrid, spain, art, history and so much more in spain's extraordinary capital city, madrid.

Founded more that a millennium ago as a Muslim fortress town, Spain's capital city, Madrid, is a cosmopolitan metropolis known for its incredible art collections, inventive cuisine, and lively nightlife. Visiting the city with Tauck, you'll discover grand avenues such as Gran Via and Castellana, and El Parque del Buen Retiro; walk with a local guide through Plaza Mayor and the Mercado de San Miguel; enjoy a guided visit to the Royal Palace (Palacio de Oriente); and tour one of the greatest museums of them all – the Museo del Prado, which opened its doors in 1819, created by King Ferdinand VII to promote Spanish art and display the Royal Collection. Today, the Prado is home to one of the finest collections of European art anywhere, including works by Goya, Velázquez, El Greco, Bosch, Rubens, Titian and others… and with Tauck, you'll explore it all with an art expert.

Cordoba, Spain

Explore the moorish influences and multicultural heritage of córdoba.

It may have begun life as a Roman settlement, but the Spanish city of Córdoba – in the southern province of Andalucia – first reached greatness as a Muslim stronghold and the capital of a Caliphate, and many of its Moorish influences remain to the day. Reclaimed by the Christian world during the 13th-century Spanish Reconquista, Cordoba has long been known as a multicultural melting pot and a center of Spanish intellectual life. Discover it with Tauck on a walking tour through its Jewish Quarter and a guided visit to the 8th-century Mezquita de Córdoba (La Mezquita) – once one of the world's largest mosques, and now a Roman Catholic cathedral. More than 1,200 years old, it's an iconic symbol of the city and its multicultural heritage.

El Palace Barcelona

A 20th-century classic reborn for the 21st.

Nearly a century after it opened in the heart of Barcelona near Las Ramblas – and soon became one of Spain's leading luxury hotels – the El Palace Barcelona emerges from an ambitious and comprehensive refurbishment designed to recapture the classic style and splendor of its greatest years. The hotel's public areas, presidential suites and standard rooms have been carefully restored with handmade carpets, restored antiques and exact replicas of objects such as lamps and curtains... and on the 7th floor, the romantic new Diana Garden sports more than fifty species of plants, fountains, pergolas and a pool, all inspired by the Barcelona of the 1920s.

Pintxos tasting tours

Sampling pintxos in bilbao and san sebastián.

Pintxos – the traditional tasty treats typically enjoyed as appetizers or snacks in bars throughout northern Spain and the Basque country – are so named for the "spike" (a skewer or a toothpick) that holds their ingredients to a slice of bread, and distinguishes them from their tapas cousins. You'll have opportunities to sample some of the best pintxos in town on tasting tours with local experts in Bilbao and San Sebastián.

"Traveling with Tauck was an incredible experience that truly exceeded our expectations. The hotels, food, wine, tour director and local guides were all terrific and we loved all the places we visited. You were right – San Sebastían was definitely a highlight of the trip! We were very fortunate to have sunny, comfortable weather and we really enjoyed meeting the people in our group and spending time with them. I felt so pampered and indulged and hope to go on another Tauck trip sometime in the near future. It was so nice to have everything taken care of for us and to really relax and enjoy our vacation" Celia G., Dunwoody, GA

Best of Spain & Portugal Tour

  • In-depth Cultural

Best of Spain & Portugal

Good CEO who kept us entertained. Mostly nice hotels, centrally placed for walking convenience. Cultural subjects and sites were well covered, and transport. The evening group meals weren't always nice restaurants, and sometimes the food wasn't good. Evening meals went on too late for non-Spanish people, so a few of us left early or made our own (earlier) arrangements. There was a lady with Alzheimers who bit all our heads off, including the CEO's head, tho we all tried to talk to her but gave up when she was just too rude. She needed such special treatment that she should have been sent home. Otherwise the groups, across ages and stages, enjoyed very good tours to remember for a lifetime.

Lisbon & Northern Spain Tour

Lisbon & Northern Spain

We just returned from Lisbon / Northern Spain with Globus. In general we had a very positive trip, particularly with Lisbon, San Sebastian and Barcelona. The pace was quicker then my previous tours (four two nights and three one nights); on the plus side you do get to see a lot, but overall we concluded that a slightly slower pace is better as sometimes you just need a little bit of extra time to get a feel for a location. Most of the stops on the drive were fine (we did hit bad weather up north, so honestly that impacts your impression) and the optional excursions were generally very good - particularly France in the Basque region and Montserrat. The included meals were also pretty good - better than previous tours we have been on, including Globus. Hotels were uneven - some very good, most pretty good, one or two poor (Tryp Apollo in Barcelona). Most hotels did have very good breakfasts. That being said, what really made the trip memorable was the group we were with - and our amazing tout director Luis. He was by far the best tour director we have ever experienced; he was knowledgable, funny, informative, and on top of everything. There was not one glitch the entire tour; even when a participant became ill and needed medical attention, he handled everything seamlessly. He was always around, easy to find, and amazingly patient and graceful with questions I am sure he has heard a million times. Our driver was also excellent, handling some really tiny turns / streets with more agility than I could with my compact car, lol. He was also a gentleman through out. Overall I do recommend this tour, just be prepared for the pace - and keep fingers crossed that your welcome poster has the name Luis as tour director !!
