Established shortly after Independence, the Association of Namibian Travel Agents (ANTA) is a voluntary private sector body, that acts on behalf of its members to further the common interests of travel agencies in Namibia, promote and maintain among members the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency, and probity, with a view to always providing the best possible services to the travelling public.

ANTA aims to make more widely known the great variety and value of the services offered by travel agencies to the travelling public, and to provide opportunities for its members to meet for the consideration of matters of mutual interest and for the determination of such courses of action as may be considered most suitable in all circumstances. 

ANTA works closely with the International Air Transport Association (IATA). IATA supports aviation with global standards for airline safety, security, efficiency and sustainability, and represents 290 airlines and 100,000 travel agencies. As part of the wider travel and tourism industry in Namibia ANTA forms part of FENATA, a voluntary organisation for Namibian Tourism Associations that is compiled of all the different autonomous associations, organisations, non-profit making organisations and Government institutions, directly or indirectly involved in Tourism.

Namibia Travel Connection was started by Agostinella Ribero in 1993 as Paramount Tourism Company with the name later being changed to Namibia Travel Connection. The company is owner-managed thereby maintaining the personal touch with clients.

Agostinella Ribero

Owner & Managing Director

Born in Namibia to true Italian parents, my passion for Africa and all its magic started at a very young age, when listening to my dad talk of his life experiences in many African countries.  Having grown up in Namibia and spent much time travelling around Namibia and its neighbouring countries, made me passionate  about our wildlife as-well as the many other facets Namibia and the African continent have to offer.

After my studies at the University of Cape Town, I returned to Namibia on holiday, and this was the beginning of a long road in Tourism.  In 1993 I started Namibia Travel Connection to bring guests to our wonderful Namibia and Southern Africa.  The beginning years saw me accompany many of our groups as Tour Guide, but later marketing and travel shows around the world took up much of my time.   As the years went by and we became more established our markets grew to the rest of Europe, Canada, Australia and the USA.

20 years down the line I am still the owner and am fully involved with the daily operations of Namibia Travel Connection, be it marketing, to assisting clients in creating their dream safari, to getting a safari off on the road.   Travelling with my husband and two young children through Southern Africa has also equipped me well to create unforgettable holidays for families travelling with young children.  First hand experience is always the best.

In the Travel and Tourism Industry one never gets bored as one deals with so many different people with all different backgrounds.  The beauty of my job is to bring my love for Namibia and Africa to our guests.  To let them experience what we are lucky to live with everyday – beautiful scenery, wide open spaces, interesting people and our much treasured wildlife.  Not only do I do my utmost to ensure that our guests have the holiday of a lifetime to Namibia or any other Southern African Country that they may book with us, but I also try to enlighten them of the plight of our endangered animals like the Black Rhino, the Big Cats aswell as the local populations living in the region.  To me it is important that  our guests live the real experience and end their holiday with the burning desire to return to Africa.

I was born and raised in the northern part of Namibia. After completing secondary school and studies in South Africa, I returned to Namibia in 2000. In 2004 I started in the tourism sector at Namibia Travel Connection. Having travelled to all parts of the country, exploring some of the least known hidden gems, I am proud to call this beautiful country my home. Let us show you the beautiful and unique landscapes that change within a few moments. Let us introduce you to the sound of nature and silence while enjoying a sundowner in pure nature. Namibia is the perfect place to reconnect with nature and find your inner peace.

After 4 years as a tour consultant the opportunity arose to take over the accounts side, which up until today is the favourite part of my job. I took a 8 year break from city life, which I spend full time farming. In August 2019, I returned to the business world and NTC, returning home.  

Being a small company, we specialise in individual travel, ensuring that each of our clients gets a tailor-made tour, compiled to their needs and interests. My name is Olivia Shefeni, a tour consultant based at NTC Head Office in Windhoek. I was born in Namibia, the land of open spaces as it is affectionately known.

I have been a part of the tourism industry, but my passion for tour consultancy started way back in 1999. Ever since then I have traveled to some breathtaking places in Namibia either with my family or work related travel. Namibia has a lot to offer; ranging from undiscovered landscapes to unspoiled nature. It is a land full of diversity and wonderful people. I was born in Johannesburg RSA, but our family moved to Namibia when I was a child, and bought a farm near the city of Windhoek. So from a young age I have enjoyed the outdoors and especially the opportunity to see and be near animals of all kinds! I’d like other people from all over the world to have the same experiences which I am so fortunate to have, and that is no doubt the main reason for me working in the tourism industry. Plus I get to meet people from all corners of the world, and learn a little about their lifestyles too.

The wildlife in Namibia is everywhere, not just in the national parks, it is impossible to describe Namibia without mentioning the sands of Sossusvlei. This are some of the reasons why I decided to sell Namibia to you so that you can experience the above.

From protecting delicate desert ecosystems and endangered wildlife to preserving important cultural traditions, Namibia is a world leader in responsible tourism and conservation. With a growing annual number travellers to Namibia, its commitment to responsible tourism is vital for a positive impact on the environment, economy, culture and resources.

This is  WHY , tourism private sector and more specially tour operators must work actively in the same direction to motivate and develop a sustainable tourism. And TASA is here to guide you on that beautiful path !

Tour operators must lead the way towards the future of tourism, respecting the environment and its inhabitants. And we need to show our good intentions to our travellers.

One of the first action, would be to get an official recognition as being a responsible operator. At present, the best way would be to apply and get your Nambia Eco-Awards. It will give you guidelines and an official recognition you will be able to include in your marketing strategy.

Secondly, tour operators should support some local NGO’s which have been working for many years into conservation, to allow them to carry on their amazing job. Bear in mind CONSERVATION in Southern Africa is recognized worldwide, those NGO’s are taking care of our main touristic attractions : landscapes, people and animals. Let’s support them! They are also working for us. This is why TASA has became a TOSCO & NEWS member, to show, as an association, our gratitude towards their implication and dedication to conservation.

Eco Awards Namibia

Eco-Awards Namibia is the only Certification Program, rating sustainability in Namibian Tourism industry. It is an NGO-partnership of twelve organisations, comprising private sector, civil society, parastatal Tertiary Institutions and government, including the Namibian Tourism Board, that have come together to form an ‘Alliance’. This Alliance promote, supports and facilitates the development of responsible and sustainable tourism in Namibia, specifically through the Eco Awards Namibia programme, making Namibia a destination of choice for environmentally conscious tourists and setting international standards of excellence in the industry.

Eco Awards Namibia | BENEFITS

The Eco Awards Website is the only locally based data-base, listing proven Sustainable Tourism Businesses in Namibia. This is updated frequently, and there is an increasing interest from many of the International Tour Agents who are concerned about Sustainable Destinations for their clients.

Eco Awards Namibia receives frequent requests from international agents such as Best of Africa, Futouris, Evaneos and Meiers Weltreisen for Membership lists. Recently, this trend became inclusive of international journalists and bloggers. This is a result of a growing awareness amongst travellers, regarding the sustainability of their destinations.

Being certified by Eco Awards Namibia, means qualifying to enter the prestigious Responsible Tourism Awards, offered annually by Namibia Media Holdings, with the results being announced during the official opening of the Annual Namibian Tourism Expo and extensive social media coverage. We are working towards extending the benefits to the winners, to be entered into African and Global Sustainable Travel contests

Management – all of our members had realised that this subsection of our criteria, had made them aware of what they can do to manage their establishments more cost-effectively. They found that by saving on the use of natural resources, they save money by default – Doing Well by Doing Good!

Eco Awards Namibia | STEP – by – STEP

The time frame for an assessment is usually around 3 months. I am attaching the criteria for the Self Assessment. It usually take a few weeks for the operators to complete the self-assessment. The most challenging part, might be to draft a Sustainable Tourism Policy or – Plan for your operation.… I am attaching a template, which can be used to get started.

The Self-Assessment needs to be completed and sent back to Eco Awards in Word format. The document is attached, as well as a “List of Evidence”-document, which explains exactly what is needed as evidence for the assessor. An assessor needs to go on a part of an actual guided safari with the guide and guests, for the tour briefing upon arrival, and at least 3 days of the tour, to verify the content of the report.

The final reviewed report is returned to the operator, a certificate is presented (usually at a prestigious tourism event) and an electronic stamp is offered.

The time frame for an assessment is usually around 3 months .

The cost of the assessment is currently N$14 000.00 , payable as soon as the assessment had been done.

Certification is valid for 3 years ( A re-assessment would be due three years after the date of the final report)

Mr. Ndoroma was born on 08/03/1951, a Namibian citizen and is married with four children. Came to Namibia in 1993, and he established a specialist safari company called SandyAcre Safaris in 1995. This was later merged with another owner-managed safari company called Tou Safaris to become Ultimate Safaris in 2008. He first joined the TASA Board in 1995 and went on from there to become the Fenata Executive officer, before becoming Fenata chairman and TASA vice-chairman of TASA in 2009. He re-joined the TASA Board in 2022, and was then re-elected as Fenata Chairman for a term from then until August 2024 when he will finally retire from active participation in Namibian tourism associations.

Originally coming from an entirely different profession, the tourism industry availed challenging possibilities in 1996 when starting at Trans Namibia Tours, where we discovered the endless possibilities which tourism offers. With an ever growing love for Namibia, the neighboring countries and the captivating beauty of Africa, it became more than a job, it became a lifelong passion. Since 2001, Exclusive Africa Tours & Safaris and our valued partners, gave us 22 years of product knowledge within the African Tourism & Travel industry. Why We Display Rates in different currencies

Suppliers in Namibia and South Africa charge in South African Rand (ZAR) and suppliers in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and the rest of Africa charge in United States Dollars (USD).

Note: The Namibian Dollar is fixed to the South African Rand at an exchange rate of 1:1

When we make a quote for a tour that visits Namibia and/or South Africa, we quote in ZAR; for a tour that includes Namibia and another country other than South Africa we divide the quote into ZAR and USD according to our supplier contracts. The end result is an accurate quote for you that will use your bank’s exchange rate at the time of processing the invoice.

Using this method ensures the fairest price for you and protects us against fluctuations in currency. With all this in mind, please note the prices on our website are a guideline only. Your issuing bank may offer a different exchange rate at the time of processing the payment and will add transaction and commission fees to the total affecting the final amount you end up paying.

We display the lowest possible rate based on 2 people traveling for every tour using acceptable standards of accommodation, transportation, activities, services and routes. Except for our scheduled and group tours, there are many options available to you that will affect the final price of a tour. Using an approximate starting price makes it quick and easy for you to compare tours on our website.

It is however important to keep in mind that the rates showing are based on specific details and therefore if you'd like us to quote you the same (which we'd love to do) the rates could differ for a number of reasons. Here are just a few to mention:

• Number of people travelling - the price of 2 people vs 4 people for instance will affect the overall cost and if there are children in tow this too will affect the rates.
• Inflation - If you're only planning to travel next year, you can expect the rate to change due to annual inflation.
• Seasons - the rates across seasons can and do vary from lodge to lodge and from supplier to supplier, so once you have your dates fixed, this may too affect the final cost.

What we're really trying to say is that if you like the look of a sample tour, let us quote this to you for an accurate rate based on your specific travel details.

Even our scheduled and group tour packages have seasonal and annual price differences and most of our tour and safari packages are tailor-made to your individual requirements. Maybe you like the look of a sample itinerary, well these are some of the main factors affecting your final quote:

• The duration of the tour or safari
• The standard and type of accommodation e.g. fully serviced bush camping or five-star safari lodges
• The type of tour you're interested in or the transport used e.g. fly-in safaris or self-drive tours
• Whether it is a guided (escorted) safari or an unguided (independent) tour
• The number of people in your group e.g. larger groups may cost less per person for car hire but more for accommodation or you may need to include a single supplement if staying in a single room
• The time of year you travel (peak season or low season) e.g. our summer is low season
• Additional activities, excursions and services
