NBA Arenas: A Comprehensive Guide to the Courts

posted on March 20th 2023 by James Brockbank // last updated on May 26th 2023

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is home to 30 teams, each with their own unique arenas for fans to enjoy the action.

While there are currently only  29 full-time arenas , as both Los Angeles teams, the Lakers and Clippers, share Crypto.com Arena, each venue holds its own fascinating history and distinctive features.

From the prestigiously historic Madison Square Garden, the  oldest NBA arena  dating back to 1968, to the modern venues like the upcoming Inglewood arena for the Clippers, expected to be completed by 2024, NBA arenas offer a captivating array of architectural marvels and cutting-edge amenities.

The sheer diversity in these venues not only showcases the progression of stadium design, but also the evolution of the NBA as a globally recognized brand.

With each arena having its own unique capacity, history, and atmosphere, fans traveling to different cities to experience NBA games can anticipate an immersive experience at every destination.

As the league continues to grow, it remains crucial for these venues to adapt and modernize, ensuring that the loyal fan base remains captivated both on and off the court.

A Brief History of NBA Arenas

Eastern conference, western conference, iconic nba arenas, technology upgrades, fan experience, future nba arenas, arenas hosting other events besides basketball.

nba arena tours

The history of NBA arenas can be traced back to the league’s formation in 1946. Throughout the years, arenas have undergone significant changes in terms of design, location, and capacity.

One of the oldest arenas in the NBA is Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Knicks. It was first opened in 1968 and underwent a massive renovation from 2010 to 2013. Despite its age, the renovations resulted in a brand new arena bowl and concourses within the original structure.

The Golden State Warriors played in the Oracle Arena, which was previously the oldest NBA arena before they moved to the Chase Center in 2019. The Oracle Arena first opened in 1966 as the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum Arena, becoming the Warriors’ permanent home in 1971 and hosting its first NBA championship in 1975 .

As the league expanded, more arenas were built to accommodate new teams. The Scotiabank Arena, for example, was initially planned as an NBA-specific venue, but was modified to accommodate the NHL’s Maple Leafs as well.

Currently, there are 29 full-time arenas for the 30 NBA teams. The Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers share the Crypto.com Arena; however, the Clippers plan to build a new arena by 2024. The United Center, home to the Chicago Bulls, holds the highest capacity of any current NBA arena, accommodating 20,917 spectators.

The Current NBA Arenas

nba arena tours

The NBA features 30 teams that play across the United States and Canada, divided into two conferences: the Eastern Conference and Western Conference.

Let’s take a look at each of the arenas within the Eastern and Western Conferences:

The Eastern Conference consists of 15 teams with various home arenas, including:

  • Atlanta Hawks – State Farm Arena
  • Boston Celtics – TD Garden
  • Brooklyn Nets – Barclays Center
  • Charlotte Hornets – Spectrum Center
  • Chicago Bulls – United Center
  • Cleveland Cavaliers – Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
  • Detroit Pistons – Little Caesars Arena
  • Indiana Pacers – Gainbridge Fieldhouse
  • Miami Heat – FTX Arena
  • Milwaukee Bucks – Fiserv Forum
  • New York Knicks – Madison Square Garden
  • Orlando Magic – Amway Center
  • Philadelphia 76ers – Wells Fargo Center
  • Toronto Raptors – Scotiabank Arena
  • Washington Wizards – Capital One Arena

The Western Conference also consists of 15 teams, but notably, there are only 14 full-time arenas since both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers share Crypto.com Arena.

The full list of home arenas in the Western Conference is as follows:

  • Dallas Mavericks – American Airlines Center
  • Denver Nuggets – Ball Arena
  • Golden State Warriors – Chase Center
  • Houston Rockets – Toyota Center
  • Los Angeles Clippers – Crypto.com Arena
  • Los Angeles Lakers – Crypto.com Arena
  • Memphis Grizzlies – FedExForum
  • Minnesota Timberwolves – Target Center
  • New Orleans Pelicans – Smoothie King Center
  • Oklahoma City Thunder – Paycom Center
  • Phoenix Suns – Footprint Center
  • Portland Trail Blazers – Moda Center
  • Sacramento Kings – Golden 1 Center
  • San Antonio Spurs – AT&T Center
  • Utah Jazz – Vivint Arena

Madison Square Garden, located in New York City, is the oldest arena in the NBA, having first opened its doors in 1968. Despite its age, it has undergone a significant renovation from 2010 to 2013, maintaining its status as one of the most iconic NBA arenas.

Being home to the New York Knicks, Madison Square Garden has also been ranked as one of the top 10 best NBA arenas in the world.

Another stunning NBA venue is the Barclays Center, a multi-purpose indoor arena situated in Brooklyn, New York City. Serving as the home of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, Barclays Center is often recognized as one of the most beautiful arenas in NBA history. The arena is also used for concerts, conventions, and other events.

nba arena tours

Los Angeles is home to the Staples Center (now known as the Crypto.com arena), an NBA arena that is considered one of the most iconic in the league. Opened in 1999, the Staples Center is shared by the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers. Aside from hosting various NBA games, the arena has also been a venue for Olympic Games, Grammy Award ceremonies, and numerous concerts featuring famous artists.

The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, located in Cleveland and home to the Cleveland Cavaliers, is one of the largest arenas in the NBA, with a seating capacity of 19,432 people for basketball games. While it gained more attention during LeBron James’ time in Cleveland, the impressive size of the arena cements its place among the most iconic NBA venues.

Arena Amenities and Features

NBA arenas strive to provide the best possible experience for fans by offering state-of-the-art amenities and features.

In this section, we explore some of the upgrades and attractions found in these modern sports venues.

Ever-evolving technology has led to significant advancements in NBA arenas. One notable example is the  new kinetic 4k scoreboard  found in select stadiums. This massive, high-resolution screen provides fans with crystal clear replays and live-action shots throughout the game. Additionally, many arenas have improved their sound and lighting systems for a more immersive experience.

WiFi connectivity has also been enhanced in most NBA arenas, ensuring fans can stay connected to social media and other digital platforms. Furthermore, modernized concourses allow fans to explore the venues more easily, with open-air lounge areas providing a relaxed environment for socializing and enjoying refreshments.

nba arena tours

As fans demand more unique and exciting experiences, NBA arenas have stepped up their game. Many stadiums now include multiple dining options, making it easy for visitors to find their favorite local cuisines, such as Big Nate’s BBQ at Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center.

Fan zones have also been an integral addition to NBA arenas, providing designated areas for children to play and participate in interactive games. Some arenas even boast the largest HD scoreboards in the league, such as the one found at the Air Canada Centre, home to the Toronto Raptors.

In addition to these attractions, fans can also enjoy upgraded seating options, often including luxury suites and all-inclusive packages, making the live-game experience more comfortable and enjoyable than ever before.

As the NBA continues to expand and evolve, new arenas are being developed to accommodate the growing needs of the teams and their fans. In this section, we will explore some potential future NBA arenas and the cities that may host them.

One location that has been generating buzz is Las Vegas. A new arena is currently under construction in the city, raising hopes for an NBA team to be based in Las Vegas. The company responsible for building this arena has also built the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, another city hoping to attract an NBA team.

Seattle has long been speculated as a potential NBA market, especially since the departure of the Supersonics to become the Oklahoma City Thunder. The newly renovated Climate Pledge Arena could be a suitable location for a future NBA team.

Beyond Las Vegas and Seattle, other cities may also be contenders for future NBA arenas. Some cities gaining significant attention as potential candidates include Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas City, Missouri, and Austin, Texas. While no official plans have been made public, the popularity of the sport and the continuous growth of the National Basketball Association suggest that new arenas are always a possibility.

In conclusion, the landscape of NBA arenas is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the league and its fanbase. As potential new markets emerge, we can anticipate the construction of new arenas and the possibility of new NBA teams in the future.

nba arena tours

Many NBA arenas are known for hosting a variety of events besides basketball games. These versatile venues are equipped with the necessary facilities and technology to accommodate concerts, conferences, and various sporting events. Madison Square Garden, for example, is not only an iconic NBA arena but also one of the oldest basketball venues in the world, and has been around since the 1960s. It has successfully hosted various events in its long history, including boxing matches, college basketball games, and concerts by world-renowned artists like Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Similarly, the Thomas & Mack Center, home to the University of Nevada’s basketball program, was intentionally designed to be a multi-purpose facility that can easily adapt to suit different events. This approach allows arenas to maximize their usage and generate additional revenue by hosting conferences, trade shows, and family-friendly events like Disney on Ice or Cirque du Soleil.

NBA arenas that also accommodate NHL teams, like the American Airlines Center in Dallas and Ball Arena in Denver, further exemplify the versatility in design and functionality. This design allows for a seamless transition between basketball and hockey games, ensuring a consistent high-quality experience for fans of both sports.

In summary, NBA arenas play a vital role in the overall experience for both players and fans. With a current count of 29 full-time arenas accommodating 30 NBA teams, these venues vary in size, capacity, and amenities.

State-of-the-art facilities, such as the Spectrum Center, have been influential in attracting players and enhancing the fan experience. Furthermore, the average construction cost of these arenas is around $426.6 million, making them significant investments for cities and teams alike.

It is important to note that new arenas alone may not be sufficient catalysts for urban economic development, as highlighted in  this analysis . However, they do contribute to the overall allure of a team and its city, potentially impacting the decision-making process of players when signing contracts.

As the NBA continues its growth and evolution, it can be expected that future arenas will incorporate advanced technologies and fan amenities to further enhance the basketball experience for all involved.

Inside Kane Brown’s Historic NBA-Driven Arena Concert Tour

The country star played Toronto's ScotiaBank Arena on Dec. 4, making him the first artist ever to play all 29 NBA arenas during a single tour.

  • By Dave Brooks

Dave Brooks

Kane Brown

Earlier this month, breakthrough country superstar Kane Brown became the first touring artist to play all 29 National Basketball Association (NBA) arenas during a single tour, fulfilling a lifelong dream around his passion for pro hoops.

“Kane’s a huge basketball fan,” says his manager Martha Earls with Neon Coast. “He’s athletic, loves sports and first got the idea back in 2019 when he was invited to headline a 20th-anniversary show for what was then the Staples Center in LA (and now is known as Crypto.com Arena).”

Trending on Billboard

How kane brown’s manager helped him break new ground in country & top 40.

Originally scheduled to be announced in March 2020, publicity for Brown’s tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a plan to “be ready the minute we can get back on the road,” Schaefer recalls. “That opening came in April of 2021 and we ended up being one of the first sales in the year following COVID-19.”

Schaefer said he wanted Brown to get back on the road after releasing his EP Mixtape, Vol 1 in Aug. 2020 on RCA Records Nashville, which hit No. 2 on Billboard ‘s Country Albums chart and No. 15 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Mixtape, Vol. 1 included the crossover track “Be Like That” featuring Swae Lee and Khalid , as well as “Cool Again” featuring Nelly and “Last Time I Say Sorry” featuring John Legend .

“Sales for the tour were massive and the tour kicked off six months later,” Schaefer said of the Blessed & Free Tour, which officially launched on Oct. 1, 2021, at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento and hit 28 of 29 NBA arenas and college facilities in Nampa, Idaho and College Station, Pennsylvania. The tour also made three stops at hockey arenas in Pittsburgh, Seattle and Las Vegas, wrapping its first leg at Sin City’s T-Mobile Arena on Feb. 4.

The final show took place 10 months later on Dec. 4 at the final NBA arena on the tour, ScotiaBank Arena in Toronto — marking the 29th of 29 NBA arena concerts. “We couldn’t get into Canada during the initial run of the tour because of the restrictions and the lockdown in the country,” Schaefer says.

In Jan. 2022, the Blessed & Free Tour was the most well-attended concert tour of the month, averaging 11,000 fans per show. “When we did announce the tour in April, I got some calls from people thinking we were maybe being a little bit bullish,” Earls recalls, “but we just felt there was such a desire from the fan base and an excitement from fans for live music coming back that we knew we were ready.”

Helping boost sales was the chart success of Chris Young ’s track “Famous Friends” featuring Brown, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay in July, two months after the Blessed & Free Tour went on sale.

“At almost every show, we had NBA players come out on stage for ‘Famous Friends,’ often with the mascots from each team,” Schaefer said. In Milwaukee, player Khris Middleton appeared on stage for the song months after leading the Bucks to their first NBA Finals victory.

During the downtime between the February date in Vegas and the Canada show, Brown performed the first concert ever held at Finley Stadium in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee, on May 7.

“It was a heavy lift and we all learned a lot together including the stadium staff,” Schaefer recalls. “We don’t really say no to a lot of things. If it’s Kane’s dream to do it, we’re gonna help make that happen. That’s what we do for a living here.”

“Kane’s path to success has been atypical since day one, so as we discuss his touring strategy, it should be atypical as well,” says Brown’s agent Braeden Rountree at WME. “Rolling into 2023 and beyond, we have to keep asking ourselves “what can we do to keep busting through the glass ceiling to continue to set him apart? The short answer is we must continually look for great opportunities where he might be the “first Country Artist” (or any Artist for that matter) to perform at.  His sold-out performance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s football stadium this past May is another great example of that.”

In 2023, Brown is preparing for another milestone – headlining a stadium show at Fenway Park in Boston on June 23. The venue concert deal became available to Brown thanks to a quick sellout at the city’s TD Garden arena five months earlier on the Blessed & Free Tour.

“That was the great thing about this tour — each success lead to a new opportunity and a chance for Kane to hit a bunch of venues he has always wanted to play,” Earls said. “We learned more than we ever thought possible and watched Kane continue to grow and strengthen his relationship with fans who have grown with him. We are all so proud of what he has achieved.”

A dream that came true period! It seemed so far away and so hard to plan but with the help of the amazing guys led by Ido Gur, Asi Ohana and Richard Green, I got to see all the big stars on the floor up close! Really close!! Stepping on the Lakers legendary floor and throwing in a free throw (airball shame) was an experience I will never forget in my life, there is no doubt that I will return again for a 2nd round, everything is sweet, tidy, hotels of the highest standard, free time for shopping, exciting attractions, historical sites, everything in detail Details and the most important thing is the people, amazing guys one by one with a common theme that connected us all which is the great love and passion for this wonderful thing called the NBA. People I met on the trip have already become lifelong friends for me. A perfect trip, a once in a lifetime experience!

client 2

When I first heard about the trip, it was clear to me that it was going to join. After a few days of deliberation (which mainly concerned the organization of my schedule at short notice, it is well known that a working mother is the busiest creature in the world) and several conversations with Ido, who from the beginning proved to be patient and attentive, I decided to go for it. To summarize in a few words, it was a dream come true. And to summarize in a few sentences, it was a one-time experience that included a visit to the main cities on the East Coast at the most magical time of the year, amazing games in legendary halls, pampering conditions, a successful balance between group activities and free time, and above all an amazing group of people who share a common love and experience together as closely as possible This league we love so much. Ido and Asi did everything to make our experience perfect even when reality tried to intervene (Omicron, Corona protocol, postponement of games, what not) they managed to find creative solutions and get the best out of everything. This trip was the best gift I could give myself.

client 3

In the month of March 2022, I set out with you on a magical journey on the West Coast, which for me was a kind of dream. The trip was prepared and organized in a professional and masterly manner by the company. The schedule was indeed tight, but everything worked and ticked very efficiently. We were privileged to stay in first class hotels and travel in a luxurious bus. We toured Los Angeles, tasted stardust, and had a great time in Venice Beach where we played on the legendary basketball court. When we went north, the beaches of California really amazed us and the highlight, of course, was the wonderful city – San Francisco. But the main focus was basketball. It is impossible to describe in words the intensity of the experience of watching very closely LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Luka Doncic and of course Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. This is something that not everyone gets. For me the highlight was sitting in the new and magnificent hall of the Golden State Warriors. Before that, we made a mandatory visit to the group’s store, which is an experience in itself. The professional Ido Gur was responsible for the basketball side. Always kindly, with an eternal smile and endless patience. These qualities made a decisive and important contribution to the success of the trip. Highly recommend to any basketball fan in general and NBA in particular to join such a journey. Rise and succeed, Ami Lin, Haifa.

client 4

Ouriel Rybsky

At first I was afraid to go on an organized trip because I didn’t know how it would be and how the people and everything would be, but already on the first day I realized that I had made the right choice. The trip, led by Ido and Asi, was undoubtedly one of the best trips and experiences I’ve had so far. They are all amazing people, with a vibe. The team that Ido and Asi put together was really a great team which was the best part of the trip. The games we saw were on a completely different level – especially the performance of LeBron James who scored 56 points against Golden State in a game I will never forget. LeBron probably won’t forget it either because it’s the third highest number of points he scored in his career and we were there to see it up close. In general – everything including everything (the activities, the hotels, the transportation, the bus) was at a very, very high level – much higher than I thought and I undoubtedly recommend the trip to every basketball fan and am waiting with a trillion eyes for my second round.

Einat Peleg

I’m not even a sports fan. My son, Assaf was supposed to join the first trip of NBATrips but due to Covid regulations he missed the flight. Immediately after Ido Gur returned to Israel, he came especially to meet Assaf and brought him a pretty amazing gift. There and then I made a decision that my son would not miss the next trip. A few months later, Assaf and his brother Roey made reservations. I wasn’t supposed to come to the trip but I decided to surprise both of my sons after Asi pressured me. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever had if not the best one!!! As someone who doesn’t understand the NBA I absorbed a lot of knowledge and had amazing experiences. Asi, Ido, and Richard were the best. Thank you so much for giving me the privilege to take part in this experience. With much love, Einat Peleg joined by Roey and Assaf.f.

client 6

Bar Gozovsky

This trip is a once in a lifetime experience. The group had an amazing atmosphere, full of laughter and the people were good and nice. We played basketball on the beach, in the games we upgraded the tickets and sat on the courtside, we went up to the floor to throw a free throw which was the most fun experience for me. We slept in a hotel near the Crypto.com arena and met NBA players there and took pictures with them. I recommend everyone to join all this fun. It was an unbelievable and unforgettable bar mitzvah trip!

client 7

Evelyne Corcos

For a diehard NBA fan as myself, I had one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life with a group of people organized by NBATrips. We watched four games in three different cities. Our group was amazing and diverse. Fans of all ages, each one is “crazy” about the game like me. I met organizers who gave their heart and soul and with the highest level of professionalism. First class hotels, great seats, the best games, we had everything including care and attention to every little detail. Looking forward to the next trip. Thanks NBATrips!

Midlife, Wife, job, kids, another girl on the way, and then it happens. out of nowhere. Ido Gur, the guru of NBA fans in Israel, announces a trip to the USA that includes a powerful experience of NBA games, with all the biggest stars. What else can you ask for? The trip was a month away, and I didn’t even have a visa, but Within two weeks I already had a visa in my hand, a pass from the woman, and… let’s get on the flight. From there, two weeks of intoxication. Star Trek, and along the way a game that will also be the final series that same year. And everything with commentary and professional explanations at the highest level, almost like on TV, only with a much more personal attitude. In conclusion – I have had many experiences in my life, but I have no doubt that this was the biggest and most powerful of all, for the reason that it was simply a dream come true! so thank you NBATrips, thank you for making my dream come true!!

The United Center is located on the west side of Chicago, Illinois, United States, and is home to the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. It is named after its corporate sponsor, United Airlines, a major American airline headquartered in Chicago’s Willis Tower.

Arena Guide by Basketball Tripper

The United Center was built as a replacement facility to the original Chicago Stadium; the arena didn’t officially break ground until April of 1992 and wasn’t finished until August of 1994. With a capacity of roughly 21,000, the United Center has the largest capacity in the NBA and the NHL.

Both the Bulls and Blackhawks own and operate United Center, with an even split in the partnership. The arena is the largest indoor arena in the United States by square footage. The capacity is 19,717 for hockey, 20,917 for basketball, and up to 23,500 for concerts. Attendance consistently exceeds the capacity for NBA and NHL games.

The building is 140 feet tall, built using concrete and 3,500 tons of steel, and cost $175 million to build. While both teams had planned for a new arena for quite some time before they finally built the United Center, the inflated real estate market and the early 1990s recession delayed the construction until financing was secured with funding by banks from Japan, Australia, and France.

Before the 2009–10 season, the arena underwent a renovation that improved the 300-Level concourse with 144 flat-screen televisions, new food and beverage options, and two new bars that open up to panoramic views of the arena. During the 2010 off-season, two other bars with panoramic views of the arena were added to make four total. Finally, in 2015 a new court was added that featured a 75% increase in size to the center logo, lines on the court changed from red and white to all black, and the four stars from the City of Chicago flag were added to the south apron of the court.

Best bars near ground.

Several popular bars are located within walking distance to the arena, with a few of the favorites being Billy Goat’s Tavern, The Ogden, Hawkeye’s Bar and Grill, and the official bar of the Blackhawks in the Park Tavern. Since the United Center sponsors them, the bar offers free rides to and from the arena, and they offer great specials like $2 Taco Tuesdays and Buckets & Sliders every Monday. The food is not something you would typically find in a city bar but is a great spot to hit up before tip-off.

Food - Places to Eat

While several of the bars and pubs in the area offer several food options, a few other food options are a favorite of the locals and are right around the arena that you can stop at before tip-off. Some of the local favorites include Queenie’s Supper Club, Palace Grill, Billy Goat Tavern, and The Ogden. Since Chicago is a very popular sports city, there are several spots near the united center that are sports-themed and will be great places to catch a bite to eat before the game or even watch the game while you eat.

The United Center offers daily tours on select non-event dates. On the tour, you will be able to walk through the same halls of some of sports and entertainment’s most famous figures, visit the Blackhawks and Bulls locker rooms, the Blackhawks organ loft, the Michael Jordan statue, and more. You can pick up tickets online or at the box office. Pricing for the tour goes as follows: Standard Ticket $20.00, Seniors (60+) $18.00, Children (3-13) $15.00, and Military $18.00. You can read more stadium tours here .

Chicago Bulls Tickets

Typically, Bulls tickets vary on who they are playing on the given night, but tickets can be found for as low as $24, with an average price of $113

Courtside seats will cost around $1,500 to $2,200 but are scheduled to go up to $100 apiece per game. The arena added a VIP club that will feature all-inclusive food and beverages.

Suites for a Chicago Bulls game will typically cost from $3,000 – $10,000. The price will vary for each game depending on the opponent, size of the suite, and location in the arena.

Visiting the Arena - Travel

Stadium map.

Since the United Center is located on the west side of Chicago, there are several travel options you can choose from. The most popular transportation methods would include the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority), which operates Chicago’s eight ‘L’ train lines and 129 bus routes, various forms of car services, and thousands of parking spots if you chose to bring your vehicle.

The address for United Center is as follows: • 1901 W Madison St, Chicago, IL 60612

While traffic during game nights will drive larger crowds than usual down to Chicago, you should be prepared for heavy traffic as you are in a very populated city that sees heavy traffic daily. If you are coming from surrounding suburbs, you will most likely be coming into the city on a major highway then transitioning into city street driving.

While there are several public and paid parking options on any given game night, the lots that the United Center sponsors are lots H, C, and K. These lots will cost anywhere from $20-$40 depending on the proximity to the arena and if you order online beforehand you can receive a few dollars off.

Chicago offers the nation’s second-largest public transportation system with the CTA, which operates Chicago’s eight ‘L’ train lines and 129 bus routes. These railways connect the city through above-ground, street-level, and subway trains and serve 145 rail stations all over town. With two lines that operate 24/7 and several bus routes, finding reliable public transportation will be a breeze.

If you are coming from out of state and flying, you will most likely fly into O’Hare International Airport. The drive from the airport to the arena is17 miles and will roughly take 30-1.5 hours minutes to reach the arena, given the traffic. The most popular transportation methods to the United Center are by subway ($2-$5), bus, taxi ($40-$60), or car.

kane brown country tour nba arenas

Country star Kane Brown has announced his “Blessed & Free” tour for the fall, which comes with the underlying assumption that the nation will be mostly blessedly COVID-free by the time the outing kicks off in indoor arenas on Oct. 1.

As a major basketball fan who played the sport in high school, Brown made a point of making sure the 35-city tour is hitting all 29 NBA basketball venues in the U.S. along the way, in what’s said to be the first time a country performer has landed in every one during a single tour. Brown played in the 2020 NBA celebrity all-star game in 2020 and hinted at prospects for that at the time. A handful of cities that don’t have an NBA team, like Nampa, Idaho, also got lucky enough to get squeezed into the B-ball-loaded schedule.

Brown has had six singles reach No. 1 on one of the country charts since he came out of the gate strong five years ago, the most recent being 2019’s “Homesick.” Last year he released a more pop-oriented single, “Be Like That,” as a collaboration with Swae Lee and Khalid, and the genre-stretching collab reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Joining Brown on the jaunt are a couple of artists who also have No. 1 country hits under the belt, Jordan Davis (who topped the chart with 2019’s “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot”) and Chase Rice (who made it to the top in 2018 with “Eyes on You”). Davis will play the initial dates on the tour as the middle act, giving up that spot to Rice at the beginning of 2022.

Popular on Variety

Rounding out the bill as opening act throughout the entire tour will be the trio Restless Road. Brown recently enthused to Variety about the group as he announced the trio had been signed to a new label, 1021 Entertainment, he’s started up as a joint venture with Sony Nashville.

The tour starts Oct. 1 in Sacramento at the Golden 1 Center. Los Angeles gets the second stop as Brown and company hit the Staples Center, a venue he previously sold out, on Oct. 2. Other dates include a Brooklyn gig Nov. 5 at Barclays Center, and a return to the New York area on Jan. 15 at Madison Square Garden — neither of which he’s headlined before — before the 35-city outing wraps Feb. 4, 2022 at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

Registration for pre-sale tickets begins today, with a general on-sale happening April 16 at kanebrownlive.com.

Brown is up for two honors at the Academy of Country Music Awards April 18, including one for his country-pop crossover project “Mixtape Vol. 1” and another for his music video “Worldwide Beautiful.” He’s been announced to perform on the CBS telecast as well.

NBA playoffs bracket, schedule, scores: Timberwolves eliminate Suns, move on to second round

The nba playoffs are underway with 16 teams in the hunt for the larry o'brien trophy.

play-in-1.png

The NBA playoffs are underway, and the action has never been hotter. Sunday gave us our first elimination as the Timberwolves completed the 4-0 sweep over the Suns to notch their first playoff series win in 20 years. It was a 122-116 victory that remained tight until the very end.

Prior to that, the Mavericks tied the largest comeback in NBA playoffs history when they erased the Clippers' 31-point advantage and briefly held the lead late in the fourth quarter. But that was as close as they would get. Paul George sizzled in the first half and finished with 33 points, James Harden added 33 and Los Angeles pulled out a  116-11 win  to tie the series 2-2.

In Sunday's opener, Jalen Brunson got the playoff party started and scored 47 points to set a franchise playoff record as the Knicks held on for a 97-92 win in Philadelphia to take a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Sixers.

Then, the Pacers took a 3-1 lead over the Bucks with a 126-113 victory. In doing so, Indiana has pushed the  injury-riddled Bucks  to the brink of elimination.

On Saturday, the Magic overcame a 2-0 series hole to tie things up at 2-2 with a 112-89 win over the Cavaliers. Then, the Oklahoma City Thunder took a commanding 3-0 series lead over New Orleans, while the Celtics jumped ahead to 2-1 over the Heat. To close out Saturday, the Lakers finally got a win over the Nuggets to avoid a sweep.

The first round of these NBA playoffs will run through May 5.  Here's how CBS Sports experts are picking their brackets .

Nikola jokic's brother punches fan in heated altercation, nba investigating, nikola jokic brother punches fan in crowd ... nba investigating.

  • Exclusive Details

8:20 AM PT -- TMZ Sports has learned ... the NBA is currently looking into the situation.

Nikola Jokic 's brother was in no mood to celebrate the Nuggets' comeback win over the Lakers on Monday ... 'cause he straight-up punched a fan in the stands at the playoff game -- and it's all on video.

According to witnesses, the violent incident went down shortly after Joker and his Denver teammates completed their 101-99 win against LeBron James and co. to go up 2-0 in the first-round series.

The clip shows Joker's older brother, Strahinja , hop over a Ball Arena seat and down a row ... kicking his way through the crowd to get closer to the male spectator.

As soon as Strahinja got within arms reach, he unloaded a fierce punch with his right hand that hit the fan right in the face.

The two sides weren't done with each other after the hit, though ... they continued to bark at each other as Strahinja's brother, Nemanja , followed right behind him for support.

The two-time MVP's wife, Natalija , was just feet away from Jokic's brothers throughout the altercation ... holding their young daughter as she reached out to reel Strahinja back.

It's unclear what led to the altercation ... we're working on it.

The massive Jokic brothers are notorious for passionately defending the NBA superstar at games ... and they're certainly not shy to let their feelings known to players, referees and fans.

The NBA is known to throw the hammer down on unruly fans ... but considering Jokic is one of the best players in the league, it'll be interesting to see if any punishment comes from this.
