Only RBC Avion credit card holders are eligible to redeem their Avion points for flights on the Air Travel Redemption Schedule . Before booking, you should keep in mind:

  • Check the number of points needed for your destination in the Air Travel Redemption Schedule.
  • Destinations have a Maximum Ticket Price (All taxes and service fees are separate and are not part of the maximum ticket price). In the event that a ticket costs more than the allowed amount, the additional cost can be charged to your credit card or you can use your Avion points at a rate of 100 points = $1 CAD.

For example:

A flight from Toronto to Vancouver has a Maximum Ticket Price of $750 CAD. If the base fare of the flight you select is $825 CAD, you can charge the excess amount of $75 ($825-$750=$75), (plus taxes and fees) to your credit card or redeem points at a rate of 100 points = $1 CAD (75x100= 7500 points)

If the base ticket price exceeds the Maximum Ticket Price, the additional cost can either be charged to your credit card or you can use any remaining points at a rate of 100 points = $1 CAD to pay for the amount over the maximum ticket price. Terms and Conditions .

A flight from Toronto to Montreal requires 15,000 Avion points and has a Maximum Ticket Price of $350 CAD (all taxes and service fees are separate and are not part of the ticket price.)

The base fare of the flight you select is $400 CAD. This amount exceeds the maximum ticket price ($350 CAD) by $50.

You can either charge the excess amount of $50 (plus taxes and fees) to your credit card, or use any remaining points at a rate of 100 points = $1 CAD (50x100=5 000 points).

For RBC Avion credit card holders who do not want to redeem from the Air Travel Redemption schedule, there is no Maximum Ticket Price for airline tickets.

Yes, you can pay for your booking with a combination of points and credit card.

For ION or ION+ cardholders, Avion Rewards Core Product Accounts and Avion Select members, 172 points = $1 CAD. A minimum of 2,500 points must be redeemed and the remaining balance can be paid with a credit card.

Other Avion Rewards members can redeem travel at a rate of 100 points =$1 CAD. A minimum of 1,000 points must be redeemed and the remaining balance can be paid with a credit card.

RBC Avion Visa cardholders who are redeeming Avion points for flights from the Air Travel Redemption Schedule can use their credit card to pay for taxes and fees and any amount above the Maximum Ticket Price.

RBC Avion Visa cardholders can also purchase additional points to use towards flights on the Air Travel Redemption Schedule and must have at least half of the required points for their booking in order to purchase additional points. The minimum amount of points to purchase is 1,000 and maximum is 15,000, and every 1,000 points costs $40 CAD plus applicable taxes.

Yes. There are three ways to redeem Avion points for first or business class seats.

Select either first class or business class before searching for flights. Then, redeem the required number of Avion points for the destination of your choice, up to the Maximum Ticket Price as indicated in the Air Travel Redemption Schedule. The Maximum Ticket Price excludes any applicable taxes, surcharges and fees. Finally, pay for the price difference between the Maximum Ticket Price and the total price of your first or business class ticket by redeeming your points at the rate of 100 points = $1.00 CAD.

Redeeming for a flight from Toronto to Vancouver from the Air Travel Redemption Schedule requires 35,000 points for a Maximum Ticket Price of $750 CAD. The Maximum Ticket Price excludes any applicable taxes, surcharges and fees. If the cost of the flight you select in business class is $1,000 CAD, you can pay for the price difference of $250 by redeeming 25,000 additional points (100 points = $1 CAD). In total, you would need to redeem 60,000 points.

If you are an RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege for Private Banking, RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege, RBC Avion Visa Infinite Business or RBC Commercial Avion Visa cardholder, you can pay for the entire price of a first or business class ticket (including any applicable taxes, surcharges and fees) by redeeming your points at the rate of 100 points = $2.00 CAD.

If a flight from Toronto to Vancouver in first class costs $3,200 CAD (including any applicable taxes, surcharges and fees), you would need to redeem 160,000 Avion points (100 points = $2 CAD)

Convert your Avion points to WestJet dollars or to British Airways Avios, American Airlines AAdvantage Miles or Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. Converting your Avion points gives you the flexibility to redeem for rewards and benefits these programs offer, including for first or business class seats. Once converted, points cannot be transferred or converted back to Avion points.

All travel reservations made over the phone will be subject to a $30 booking fee per ticket or hotel booking.

Avion Rewards members with an Avion Rewards Core Account can't make new bookings over the phone.

You can apply for an RBC Avion credit card and once you have been approved and have activated your card, you will automatically have access to all benefits associated with the Avion Elite membership level.

If you cancel your RBC Avion credit card, you will no longer have access to the benefits associated with the Avion Elite membership level since having an RBC Avion credit card is required in order to be part Avion Elite.

Avion Rewards provides members many ways to earn Avion points. Depending on the Avion Rewards eligible product you hold, eligible members are able to earn Avion points from:

  • With qualifying purchases using your eligible linked RBC card at our select merchant partners like Petro Canada. Eligible clients receive 20% more Avion points at Petro Canada when they pay with their linked RBC points-earning credit card.

Eligible personal RBC clients without an eligible rewards credit card and/or an eligible personal deposit account that is enrolled in the Value Program are able to access Avion Rewards and will be given an Avion Rewards Core Account upon enrollment into the Avion Rewards Program.

RBC Personal Deposit Accounts that have not enrolled in the Value Program:

Through the Value Program , Avion points are reported monthly and take into account all in-store and online debit purchases from, and returns to, an enrolled personal deposit account.

For example, say you purchase a $300 blender with your debit card in December and received your Avion points. In January, you return the blender and get a $300 credit to your personal deposit account, but you also make $500 in debit purchases. For January, you would be awarded points for $200 of your debit spend ($500 in debit purchases minus the $300 return). Alternatively, if in January you do not make any debit purchases and only return the $300 blender, you would not be awarded any points for January and 300 points will be removed from your points account.

For additional help, visit the “Contact an Advisor” page in the “More” menu of the Avion Rewards app and one of our advisors will be able to help.

If you have not received your cash back, it may be because:

The available cash back balance is the amount of cash back that can be withdrawn into your bank account.

In order to receive the offer, you need to shop through Avion Rewards. Simply select “Load Offer” and then click through the provided link.

No, not at this time. You must withdraw the full amount in your cash account, once it is $15 or over.

Cash back on eligible offers is issued in Canadian currency. For foreign currency transactions, the cash back earned may be subject to foreign exchange fees, foreign currency fluctuations or other factors that may influence the amount of cash back earned when calculating the Canadian dollar equivalent amount.

For cash back offers, there is a holding period before it is moved to an earned status and available to be cashed out by a member. This holding period varies by merchant as it is dependent upon each merchants return window plus associated processing time which can typically be up to 120 days after the original transaction date. During this period cash back will be reflected in your activity dashboard and can be found under the Pending tab. Once the holding period is complete it will move to the Earned tab within the activity dashboard.

As an Avion Select member, you can link and earn points and cash back at over 230 financial institutions.

Unfortunately, there are some financial institutions that don’t provide a consistent card connection experience, which could affect the ability to earn cash back and points. These financial institutions are not supported by Avion Rewards.

If you have an RBC product, you’re automatically an Elite or Premium member. Our great offers are available to Premium and Elite members when they shop with their RBC product–there is no need to link any cards.

Not a Premium or Elite member? Visit Become a Member to learn how you can elevate your current Avion Rewards membership.

Sometimes, your bank card(s) may become unlinked from your Avion Rewards profile due to an interrupted connection. This may be caused by factors such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), system outages or technical disruptions.

Don’t worry, it’s easy to fix! Simply log in and relink your bank card(s) using one of these three options:

  • Click the notification on the home screen
  • Visit the Manage Cards section of the More menu on the app
  • Visit the Profile & Settings menu on the desktop app

That way you can keep earning cash back on eligible purchases.

Yes! Once you successfully relink, we’ll honour all points or cash back earned on eligible purchases made up to 60 days prior.

Yes, you can remove individual cards or bank accounts from your Avion Rewards profile at any time by selecting the delete icon in the Manage Cards section. Once you’ve removed a card or bank account, you’ll no longer be eligible to earn points or cash back on transactions made using these cards.

To earn points or cash back on eligible purchases, Avion Rewards needs to be able to see that you’ve completed a transaction associated with an active offer. Rest assured; this is done with bank-level security practices to protect your privacy.

We use third-party account aggregation technology to match active offers with the purchases you make using the debit and/or credit card(s) you connect to your Avion Rewards profile. Our service provider uses masked login credentials to protect your privacy while providing us with transaction information from your connected accounts.

Please visit Avion Rewards Card Linking Terms & Conditions .

It’s easy! Simply open Avion Rewards on your mobile app or desktop and shop available offers. Make sure you read the offer details as you may need to load an offer or link a card before earning. You can also enable the Avion Rewards ShopPlus browser extension and cash back deals will be revealed as you shop online.

Avion Select members can redeem points for travel, gift cards, merchandise and charity donations– with more reward options coming soon. Keep shopping and look for offers to earn more points, faster, so you’re ready.

Missing cash back may be caused by one of these reasons:

  • You purchased an item that is not included in the merchant's offer. Check carefully before making your purchase that the offer applies to that specific product
  • You made the purchase through another loyalty program. You cannot receive cash back through two programs simultaneously
  • You made the purchase directly on the merchant’s site without clicking on “Load Offer” in Avion Rewards first. Offers are only activated when you click through from Avion Rewards
  • You made a purchase that required you to have a linked card when your card was actually unlinked. Relink your cards one of two ways: ○ Click the ntification on the home screen or visit the Manage Cards section of the More menu on the mobile app ○ Click the Profile & Settings menu on the desktop app. You're eligible to earn cash back for transactions made up to 60 days prior, as long as you relink.

If you’ve checked all of the above, you should receive your cash back once the merchant’s return window has passed. Check with the merchant for details, but this usually occurs within 120 days.

If you haven’t received your cash back within 120 days, visit the Avion Rewards More menu on the mobile app or Profile & Settings menu on the desktop app and click “Contact an Advisor,” where we’ll be able to help you.

Avion Rewards makes it easy to get rewarded. Here’s how:

Short points for travel? You can use your points AND credit card on the same purchase, so you never miss a deal on hotels, car rentals and more.

Merchandise, gift cards and charity donations can only be redeemed with Avion points but keep an eye out – we often have sales that allow you to redeem using fewer points than usual.

Still need more points? Keep shopping and look for bonus points offers from our retailers. They can help you earn more points, faster.

NerdWallet Rating

NerdWallet CA

  • Pros: Petro-Canada fuel discounts, 12 months of free DoorDash deliveries and travel insurance.
  • Cons: No airport lounge access, free checked bags or priority airport services.

What our Nerd thinks

“The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card has some travel-specific perks that will appeal to jet setters and road trippers, but it puts in a decent showing as a general rewards card, too. Overall, I think the card will appeal in equal measure to Canadians who want a rewards program with diverse redemption options and travellers seeking the peace of mind provided by a card with travel insurance.”

RBC Avion Visa Infinite full review

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite card is one of six personal credit cards from the Royal Bank of Canada that offers Avion points — a loyalty program specific to RBC. You can spend Avion points on a range of products like flights, electronics, investments and more. The company’s Visa Infinite card is among the more expensive of RBC’s personal Avion credit cards.

Benefits of the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card

  • 35,000 Avion Points upon approval and 20,000 bonus points when you spend $5,000 in your first 6 months. Apply by Apr. 30, 2024.
  • No seat restrictions or blackouts when you book travel using Avion points.
  • Free Doordash deliveries for 12 months. (Must activate before Jan. 1, 2024).
  • Discounts and additional Avion points available when you rent with Hertz, or link the card to a Petro-Canada card.

Drawbacks of the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card

  • Minimum income requirement of $60,000 ($100,000 for household).
  • No airport lounge access.
  • RBC has low Trustpilot and BBB ratings.

Who should get the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card?

You may want to get the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card if you:

  • Want to collect Avion points on all purchases.
  • Have a Be Well or Petro-Canada card and want to take advantage of extra discounts.
  • Use Hertz or Doordash and want to take advantage of the card’s free delivery offer and rental car discounts.

Is RBC Avion Visa Infinite worth it?

If you want a card that offers consistent Avion points across all purchases the RBC Avion Visa Infinite may be right for you. However, the high income requirement, lack of airport lounge access and an average earn rate that’s lower than other RBC credit cards may reduce this card’s value for some people.

RBC customer ratings

  • Below average in customer satisfaction: RBC ranks 8 out of 13 in J.D. Power’s 2023 Canada Credit Card Satisfaction Study.
  • Low Trustpilot rating: 1.2 out of 5 possible stars based on over 1,000 customer reviews, as of this writing.
  • Low Better Business Bureau rating: 1.2 out of 5 possible stars based on over 130 customer reviews, as of this writing. RBC is not accredited by the BBB itself.

RBC Avion Visa Infinite eligibility

Who qualifies for the rbc avion visa infinite card.

To qualify for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card, you must earn a gross income of at least $60,000 ($100,000 per household) or have a minimum of $250,000 investable assets.

In general, you must be at least the age of majority and a resident of Canada to qualify, unless otherwise stated by the card issuer.

Approximate credit score needed for approval

Canadian credit card issuers rarely disclose required credit scores, which makes it hard to know your chances of approval when comparing credit cards. What we do know is that higher scores have better chances of approval — that’s true no matter what type of credit you’re applying for. Want to learn more? The welcome offer will typically appear on your first statement, but it can take up to two statements to show up.

The earn rate of 1.25 Avion points for every dollar spent on travel and 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases . Admittedly, there are many credit cards out there, but Avion Rewards has a lot of value (more on that below).

Benefits and perks

Even though the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card doesn’t often make the list of the best travel credit cards in Canada, you shouldn’t sleep on it. It has a few interesting and unique benefits that will interest many people.

Petro-Canada discounts

When you link your RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card to your Petro-Points card, you’ll save 3 ¢/L on gas with every fill-up and get 20% more Petro-Points.

Earn Be Well points at Rexall

Linking your RBC Avion Visa Infinite to your Rexall Be Well account allows you to earn 50 Be Well points per $1 spent on eligible purchases at Rexall.

$0 delivery fees with DoorDash

As an RBC Avion Visa Infinite cardholder, you get a free DashPass subscription for 12 months. This entitles you free delivery on orders of $15 or more with DoorDash and additional discounts throughout the year.

Mobile device insurance

When you purchase a mobile device (cellphone or tablet) with your RBC Avion Visa Infinite card, you’re entitled to up to $1,500 in mobile device insurance. This applies to loss, theft, and damage. That said, a depreciation rate of 2% applies to each completed month from the time of purchase.

Travel insurance

  • Travel medical – unlimited for 15 days / 3 days if you’re 65 or older
  • Trip cancellation – up to $1,500 per person / $5,000 total
  • Trip interruption – up to $5,000 per person / $25,000 total
  • Flight/trip delay – up to $250 / 4 hours
  • Delayed and lost baggage – up to $500 / 4 hours
  • Auto rental collision/loss damage – 48 consecutive days / $65,000
  • Hotel/motel burglary – $2,500
  • Common carrier travel accident – $500,000

Interestingly enough, the RBC Avion Visa Infinite travel insurance is some of the best out there since you get unlimited medical protection. However, the card doesn’t get nearly as much attention as other cards since you’re only covered for 15 days if you’re under the age of 65.

Purchase protection

  • Purchase security – 90 days
  • Extended warranty – Up to one additional year

When you pay for your purchase in full with your RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card, you get purchase protection for 90 days. This covers your purchases from loss, theft, and damage. In addition, your manufacturer’s warranty is doubled up to one additional year.

How to redeem your points

Avion Rewards , formerly known as RBC Rewards, allows you to redeem 1,000 Avion points for $10 in travel booked through their travel portal. Like other bank travel portals, you’ll find almost every type of travel available, including flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, and more. The downside is that you can’t book travel outside the portal and apply your points later. That means you can’t shop for the lowest prices or take advantage of status benefits.

On a positive note, you can double the value of your points by using the RBC fixed points program . For example, you can claim 15,000 Avion Rewards points for a round-trip flight within or to an adjacent province or U.S. state with a base ticket value of up to $350. If you maximized this option, your points would now be worth 2.33 cents each, more than double the regular rate.

Avion Rewards also allows you to convert your Avion points to British Airways Avios, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, WestJet dollars and American Airlines AAdvantage miles. Because of the airline transfer partners, the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card is one of the best airline credit cards in Canada.

As you can imagine, RBC Rewards is one of the best bank travel loyalty programs in Canada .

RBC Avion Visa Infinite eligibility

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite eligibility is straightforward, as it outlines what’s required on the application page.

  • You must be a resident of Canada
  • You must be at least the age of majority in the province or territory in which you reside
  • You must have a minimum personal income of $60,000 or a household income of $100,000.

Like other credit card providers, no formal credit score requirement is listed. That said, you likely want your credit score to be 660 or higher since that would put you in at least good standing.

How the RBC Avion Visa Infinite compares

Finding comparable cards to the RBC Avion Visa Infinite can be a bit tricky since other cards are popular for different reasons. Some people will focus on the earn rate, while others will look at the flexibility of the points.

RBC Avion Visa Infinite vs. American Express Cobalt

Using the American Express Cobalt Card as a comparable is necessary since it has the highest earning rate in Canada with 5 points per $1 spent on eats and drinks, 3 points per $1 spent on streaming services and recurring bills, 2 points per $1 spent on travel and transit, and 1 point per dollar spent on everything else. Simply put, there’s no comparison. In addition, American Express Membership Rewards is more flexible than Avion Rewards.

RBC Avion Visa Infinite vs. TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite

The   TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card gives you 3 points per $1 spent (1.5% value) on all your purchases except those made via Expedia for TD, which gives you 9 points per $1 spent or a 4.5% return. Clearly, the TD card has a higher earn rate compared to the RBC Avion Visa Infinite . However, TD Rewards aren’t nearly as flexible.

Although I like the RBC Avion cards and Avion Rewards, there are many cards out there with a much higher earning rate.

Final thoughts

My RBC Avion Visa Infinite review is positive. Although the card doesn’t have the best earning rate, it’s a good card overall and is ideal for people in the following situations:

  • You bank with RBC – This is RBC’s flagship credit card that earns you Avion Rewards.
  • You want flexible points – You can book any travel found on the travel portal, through the fixed points program, or you can transfer your points to select partners.
  • You shop at Rexall regularly – When you link your card, you can earn Be Well points at Rexall.

In the end, RBC is one of the most flexible travel loyalty programs in Canada. If you’re looking to build your credit and travel for less, then the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card is worth considering.

Regarding your comments about the “INSURANCE BENIFITS”, I am Sorry but from my experience with over 20 years as a “RBC Visa Infinite Avion” card holder you are totally wrong.

My experience dealing with “the insurance” for the first and only time has been nothing but STRESSFUL and MONTHS of delays and EXTREMELY slow response times only to be told that I am not covered for a reimbursement of a “Airline Cancelled” flight.

rbc visa avion travel insurance contact

The insurance benefits I’ve listed are accurate. However, every insurance policy has different rules in place when it comes to making a claim.

A topic not discussed is that RBC Avion charges on average over 2 percent more on US purchases over 3 of my other credit cards. Very dissapointing to say the least for using my card for foreign travel.

RBC cards charge the standard 2.5% FX fee. This is standard with many credit cards in Canada. Here’s a list of cards that don’t charge FX fees – https://www.moneywehave.com/the-best-no-foreign-transaction-fee-credit-cards-in-canada/

' src=

You mention the TD card is effectively 1.5% reward value for every day spending and book your own way travel, but i beleive TD changed their redemption rates slightly a few years back to a tiered scale where redemptions under $1200 are charged at one rate and above $1200 (in the same redemption transaction) are charged at a the better, original redemption rate. I beleive it is 250 points per dollar below $1200 and 200 points per dollar above $1200. Wouldn’t this mean 200/$1, I’d spend $200 for 600 points, then redeem 600 points for $3, which is 1.5%. but if i was under the threshold I’d instead spend $500 for 1500 points, then redeem 1500 points at 250:1 for $6, which works out to 1.167%. so your redemption rate is a sliding scale between 1.167% and 1.5% depending on how long you save points to redeem in a large transaction. Can you confirm your understanding and my math and perhaps do an updated comparison? TD still is a better “raw return rate” but the gap is smaller to the improved partner options RBC has.

I made a comment earlier that wasn’t entirely clear. So the 1.5% return on every day spending assumes you’re using your points on Expedia for TD. As for the sliding scale, the way I read it is that any redemption under $1,200 is 250 TD points for $1 and then 200 point for $1 for anything that costs $1201+. However, that lower redemption rate doesn’t apply for the full amount. It appears the first $1,200 will always be 250 points for $1. So if your purchase is $1,300, only $100 will be 200 points for $1.

So yes, your return when using Book any kind of travel is 1.2% – 1.5%.

As for how it compares to others, Scene+ and American Express Membership Rewards are better since it allows you to redeem your points on any type of travel purchases with no devaluation to your points.

Best credit cards, back to deals, rbc avion credit cards: new offers for up to 70,000 points.

RBC has new offers available on its lineup of Avion credit cards, with a new record-high welcome bonus on the RBC® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege†.

For the past year or so, RBC ®  offered record-high welcome bonuses on its trio of Avion personal credit cards: the RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite † , RBC ® Avion Visa Platinum † , and the RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege † .

The latest round of offers is now out, and the welcome bonus on two cards has dropped, but there’s also been a nice boost to another that has resulted in a new record-high offer.

RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege † : Up to 70,000 Avion Points † + VIP Benefits

The high-end premium product in the Avion family, the RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege † , has a new elevated welcome offer which is higher than the other two personal Avion cards in RBC’s lineup. †

This time, you can earn up to 70,000 RBC Avion points,† structured as follows:

  • Earn 35,000 RBC Avion points upon approval†
  • Earn 15,000 RBC Avion points upon spending $5,000 in the first six months†
  • Earn 20,000 RBC Avion points as a one-time anniversary bonus upon renewing the card for a second year †

This is a new all-time high offer on the card, up from the previous record of 55,000 points which was available through much of 2023 and 2024.

The welcome bonus of up to 70,000 Avion points † outweighs the $399 annual fee on this card in each of the first two years; however, the $200,000 minimum personal or household income requirement may be prohibitive for some applicants.

Nevertheless, if you’re looking to earn 1.25x Avion points on all purchases † , and try out the ability to redeem points directly against premium fares at 2 cents per point , now’s as good of a time as any to apply for the RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege † with this bonus in play.

This offer is available until November 25, 2024, so be sure to apply before then if you’re eligible.†

  • Earn up to 35,000 Avion points upon approval†
  • Then, earn  15,000 Avion points  upon spending $5,000 in the first six months†
  • Then, earn  20,000 Avion points  as a one-time anniversary bonus upon renewal†
  • Plus, earn 1.25x RBC Avion points † on all qualifying purchases
  • Use your rewards for any business class flight with no restrictions on dates, seats, or airlines †
  • Transfer points to one of four airline partners †
  • DragonPass membership with six free lounge visits per year †
  • Minimum income: $200,000 personal or household†
  • Annual fee: $399 †

RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite † : 35,000 Avion Points †

After another round of a record-high welcome bonus, the offer on the RBC® Avion Visa Infinite† has dropped by 20,000 Avion points.

This time, you can earn a welcome bonus of 35,000 Avion points, † which are awarded upon approval for the card. †

Typically, you need to meet a minimum spending requirement to unlock at least part of the welcome bonus; however, that’s not the case this time around. You’ll get the full allotment of 35,000 points as soon as you’ve been approved for the card. †

It doesn’t get much easier than that, so if you haven’t yet added the RBC® Avion Visa Infinite† to your portfolio, head to the RBC website to learn more.

We value RBC ® Avion points † at 2 cents apiece , given their flexibility and frequent transfer bonuses to airline loyalty programs.

Using this valuation, we’d estimate that the welcome bonus of 35,000 RBC ® Avion points † is worth at least $700. Subtract the $120 annual fee from that, and we’d value the current offer at $580, which is certainly worth considering.

There’s no listed end date for this offer.

rbc visa avion travel insurance contact

  • Earn 35,000 RBC Avion points † upon approval†
  • Plus, earn 1x 1.25x RBC Avion points †  on qualifying travel purchases
  • Transfer RBC Avion points to British Airways Executive Club and other frequent flyer programs for premium flights †
  • Redeem Avion points for flights with the RBC Air Travel Redemption Schedule †
  • Minimum income: $60,000 personal or $100,000 household
  • Annual fee: $120 †
  • Supplementary card fee: $50

RBC ® Avion Visa Platinum † : 35,000 Avion Points † with No Minimum Income

The RBC ® Avion Visa Platinum † is the entry-level product in the Avion family; however, it’s similar to the flagship Visa Infinite † in many ways.

Currently, its welcome bonus is also set at 35,000 Avion points † ,  which is also awarded upon approval for the card. †

There are a few minor differences between the RBC ® Avion Visa Platinum † and the RBC ® Avion Visa Infinite † , including the following:

  • The Visa Infinite † earns 1.25 Avion points per dollar spent † on travel, whereas the Visa Platinum † earns a flat 1 Avion point per dollar spent † on all purchases
  • The Visa Platinum † offers a less comprehensive insurance package – emergency medical insurance and mobile device insurance aren’t included, whereas they are included on the Visa Infinite †
  • The Visa Platinum † doesn’t offer the unique dining, hotel, and events benefits that are exclusive to Visa Infinite † cards

However, the most important difference is that the RBC ® Avion Visa Platinum † has no minimum income requirement, so this would be the right choice for you if you don’t meet the $60,000 or $100,000 in personal or household annual income, respectively, required for the Visa Infinite. †

rbc visa avion travel insurance contact

  • Earn 35,000 RBC Avion points upon approval †
  • Earn 1 RBC Avion point per dollar spent †  on travel purchases
  • Redeem RBC Avion points with the RBC Air Travel Redemption Schedule †
  • No minimum income requirement

The Best Ways to Redeem RBC ® Avion Points †

RBC ® Avion is a transferable points currency, which allows you to transfer the points you earn from any of these Avion cards to four frequent flyer programs:

  • 1,000 Avion points = 1,000 British Airways Avios
  • 1,000 Avion points = 1,000 Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
  • 1,000 Avion points = 700 American Airlines AAdvantage  miles
  • 1,000 Avion points = 10 WestJet dollars

Therefore, you have the option of converting the 35,000 Avion points † you’d earn from the welcome bonus on the RBC® Avion Visa Infinite† or RBC® Avion Visa Platinum† into any of the following:

  • 35,000 British Airways Avios
  • 35,000 Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
  • 24,500 American Airlines AAdvantage miles
  • 350 WestJet Dollars

On top of the usual transfer ratios, RBC ® is known for offering occasional transfer bonuses of 20%, 30%, or even 50% to its transfer partners.

If you’re wondering what 35,000 Avion points can get you, you may be happy to hear that it’s enough for a one-way flight in business class from Eastern North America to Spain on Iberia, assuming you can find off-peak award availability.

rbc visa avion travel insurance contact

In addition, RBC ® features the Air Travel Redemption Schedule , which operates similarly to the Amex Fixed Points Travel program. With the Air Travel Redemption Schedule, you can redeem a fixed number of points for a flight to a certain region with a maximum cash ticket cost allowance.

With this chart, the value is capped due to the maximum ticket cost, so it’s generally recommend maximizing your opportunities with RBC ® ’s frequent flyer partners instead.

Indeed, that’s where the bulk of the value in the Avion program lies, since you can transfer to any of their partners for a desired booking and aren’t locked in to a single loyalty program.

If, however, you find yourself in a situation in which you’re looking to book a one-way or round-trip flight within Canada and the mainland US, and you aren’t able to find any satisfactory options via British Airways Executive Club or WestJet Rewards, then the RBC ® Travel Redemption Chart is a solid option.

It’ll allow you to use the 35,000 points † from two of the RBC ® Avion cards to cover the base fare of any flight within Canada or the US, excluding Hawaii and Alaska, up to a maximum of $750, so that you don’t have to worry about any award availability constraints.

rbc visa avion travel insurance contact

The welcome bonuses on two of RBC ® ‘s Avion credit cards have been set at 35,000 Avion points, † awarded upon approval, or up to 70,000 RBC Avion points in the case of the RBC® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege†, which comes with a minimum spending requirement and a different structure.

If you’re able to combine the offers with a potential transfer bonus to one of RBC ® ’s frequent flyer partners, you’re all set to be booking some spectacular travel in 2024 and beyond.

Be sure to take advantage of the offer for the RBC® Avion Visa Infinite Privilege† by November 25, 2024,  or at your leisure with the other two cards, as they don’t have listed end dates.

†Refer to RBC ® page for up-to-date offer terms and conditions.

Scotiabank is one of Canada’s Big Six banks and offers a host of financial products, including credit cards , mortgages , bank accounts, and banking solutions for small businesses. The Scotiabank Basic Business Account is one such offer, the most elementary offering of their three business banking plans, which also include the Right Size Account for Business and the Select Account for Business.

Monthly Maintenance Fee

This account is true to its name—basic. That said, it does offer services in Canadian and U.S. dollars, which is a boon to businesses operating in Canada and the U.S.

In addition, this account has a $10.95 monthly fee, which is waived if the monthly minimum balance is over $8,000.

This account is extremely limited in terms of transactions, only offering one transaction per $1,500 in the account.

The account is compatible with Chase Merchant Services, offering speedy, next-day access to funds from the Point-of-Sale service.

Scotiabank offers a plethora of other accounts and services, including:

Scotiabank Right Size Account for Business

This account has a monthly fee of $6 and charges for transactions based on the number of transactions you make per month. If you make 1 to 15 transactions per month, you’ll pay $1.25 per month, 16 to 50 transactions will cost $1.15, and over 51 transactions will cost $1 per transaction. It’s also compatible with Chase Merchant Services, offering next-day funds but no deposit fees on payment processing.

Scotiabank Select Account for Business

The Scotiabank Select Account for Business allows users to select one of four plans, ranging in monthly fees from $20 on the low end and $120 on the high end. They also include transaction fees, minimum monthly balances and additional transaction fees.

Other Business Accounts

Scotiabank also offers other business accounts tailored to specific businesses, including:

  • Scotia Professional Plan Plus Account: A business solution for those with a high volume of transactions.
  • ScotiaOne Account Plan for agriculture: A banking plan tailored to the agricultural industry.
  • Scotia Community Account Plan: A plan for smaller charities and community groups to help maximize donation dollars.

Business Credit Cards

Pros & cons.

  • Banking with Canadian or U.S. dollars
  • Compatible with Chase Merchant Services
  • Only one transaction per $1,500 in the account
  • Monthly fee of $10.95 is only waived if $8,000 monthly minimum balance is maintained

Scotiabank Basic Business Account vs. Scotiabank Right Size Account for Business

The Scotiabank Basic Business account pails in comparison to the Scotiabank Right Size Account for Business. Consider that the Basic account has a $10.95 monthly fee and only offers one transaction per $1,500 balance. On the other hand, the Right Size account has a $6 monthly fee and charges for transactions based on how many you make. Like the Basic account, it’s compatible with Chase Merchant Services, offering next-day funds—but it also offers no deposit fees on payment processing from Chase. That said, the Scotia account does have the advantage of operating in both U.S. and Canadian currency.

Scotiabank Basic Business Account vs. TD Basic Business Plan

The TD Basic Business Plan is similar to the Scotia plan in that it’s only designed for a few monthly transactions. With the TD Basic plan, the monthly fee is lower, at just $5, and you get five deposits and five transactions. Extra deposits are $0.22 each and $1.25 for additional transactions. The Scotia plan has a higher monthly fee and no free transactions. However, the Scotia Basic account is better for banking in U.S. dollars.

Related: TD Business Banking Review

Scotiabank Basic Business Account vs. RBC U.S. Dollar Business Account

The Scotiabank Basic Business Account and the RBC U.S. Dollar Business Account can handle U.S. currency. The RBC account has a fee of $9 USD, which is waived if the monthly transaction fees exceed that amount or the balance is $2,500 USD or more. The Scotia account has a similar monthly fee but can also operate in Canadian currency, making it the better choice for businesses in Canada and the U.S.

Which bank is best for a business account in Canada?

There is no single best business account in Canada because every business is different and has different needs. When looking for a business account, consider things such as:

  • The currency you want transactions to take place in
  • The number of transactions you need per month
  • The monthly fees you’re comfortable with
  • The services your business needs most and what you’re willing to pay for them

How do I transfer money from my personal account to my Scotiabank business account?

You can transfer funds from a personal account to a Scotiabank business account, similar to how you’d transfer funds between personal accounts. Use your online banking services or in-person services to initiate the transfer.

What accounts does Scotiabank offer?

Scotiabank offers a variety of accounts, including:
