Top 10 African wildlife videos on YouTube
If you’re like me and you love African wildlife action, you’ve probably spent countless hours glued to your screen on some of the amazing footage out there. 🙂
Today I’d like to share a few of the best African wildlife videos I’ve ever come across (so far) on YouTube.
The top 10 selection is based on a couple of criteria: popularity (number of views), personal favorites , and most touching / entertaining .
NB : The list only includes amateur video footage. For National Geographic videos or any other professional recordings, check out the bonus list at the end of the post.
Feel like I missed out part of the fun (which is most likely the case)?
Make sure you list your favs in the comments section.
Top 10 Best African Wildlife Videos
1. battle at kruger.
Perhaps the most popular African wildlife video known on YouTube.
Amazing encounter between lions and buffalo and… I won’t say another word, just watch it! 🙂
2. Mountain Biker Hit by Buck
Crazy antelope vs mountain biker footage . Not for the faint of heart.
3. The Kamikaze Impala
A herd of impala leaps across the road, unaware that it’s leopard territory. Very bad move, and an unfortunate end for the poor antelope.
4. Baby Elephant Steals the Show
It’s play time at Hluhluwe Umfolozi, as a joyful herd of elephants is having a refreshing mud bath.
What’s so interesting about mud baths, you might say? Well, you’re about to find out…
5. Touched by a Wild Mountain Gorilla
An unforgettable encounter between man and beast. Wish I was there. 🙂
6. Let Me Out!
Amboseli Trust comes to the rescue as baby elephant gets stuck in a muddy pond.
The ending literally brought me to tears.
7. Tug of War
When a coalition of male lions take down a young buffalo, the rest of the herd decides to strike back. 3 vs. 300 battle!
Who’s going to win? Bets are open.
8. What a Bully
Just another indication that hippos should be dealt with extreme precaution. 😉
Would’ve been interesting to see a picture of the 4×4 after the collision.
Anyone knows if it’s still on duty? 🙂
9. Friendly Cheetah
Did the cheetah mistake the Jeep for a termite mound? I guess we’ll never know. 🙂
Love it when the tourist is taking pictures with his iPhone. Too bad he didn’t have one of those reflex cameras. He could’ve probably touched the cheetah’s nose with his lens.
10. Baby Zebra’s First Steps
You might say I’m a little biased on this one (as it is my own footage), but I still think it’s a real beauty. 😉
Experience baby zebra’s first steps into life. What more can I say: totally adorable!
Bonus Wildlife Videos
If you enjoyed the above, you’ll most certainly want to watch some more (I know, it’s “really” addictive).
#Bonus Video 1 : Black Rhino Sprint
#Bonus Video 2 : Naughty Lions

Ok, I got it: still not enough for your liking. 😉

The 10 best viral African safari videos
The next best thing to going on an African safari is watching all the action of the savanna or bushveld on the small screen at home. While we love National Geographic documentaries, Sir David Attenborough’s excellent nature programs and the Discovery Channel, there’s also something special about watching unedited, unplanned and undirected African wildlife videos shot by people on a safari holiday with their smartphone or point and shoot camera. Some of these videos capture thrilling moments that nature documentary filming teams don’t manage to see in years of filming – like the famous “Battle of Kruger” scene where lions and a crocodile battle it out in a tug of war over a buffalo in a waterhole – and many of them have gone viral, amassing tens of millions of views.
Here is our pick of the 10 Best viral African safari videos shot by amateurs that we just can’t stop watching!
1. Battle at Kruger
With over 76 million views, this is the most viral of all safari videos – and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of Africa’s most epic wildlife battles ever caught on camera!
2. Mountain biker hit by a buck
Just when you’re having a great cycle, a buck comes out of nowhere and takes you out!
3. Impala escapes certain death in a tourist car
This quick thinking impala jumps for safety into a safari goer’s car as it is pursued by a cheetah. Impala 1 – cheetah 0.
4. Rhino and hippo date night
One of them definitely used a fake photo for their Tinder profile.
5. Touched by a wild mountain gorilla
A magical chance encounter with a troop of wild gorillas in Uganda makes for a touching video and what must have been an extraordinary experience!
6. Lion opens car door
This shows you why you should always lock your car door and keep your windows up when driving through a game park in Africa.
7. World’s cutest frog
Remember that when you go on safari, it’s not just about seeing the big animals – the small ones are equally fascinating (and much cuter) – like this desert frog in South Africa.
8. A lion catches an antelope in a mid-air jump
This gives new meaning to the phrase “don’t play with your food”.
9. The lion-killing giraffe
Don’t mess with those long legs!
https://youtu.be/VhMU_F3arSA
10. Elephant attacks safari jeep
Imagine how scared you’d be feeling if you were sitting inside this jeep as the trumpeting elephant charged the car!

Videos on Facebook will not play in Safari on Mac but will play in iOS
I've been finding recently that, consistently, live videos I have put on Facebook, while they have been accessible on Safari on the Mac when they are live, afterwards cannot be played. They are replaced with a black window with a rotating blue circle. I have tested this on several MacBooks and iMacs, running different MacOS version up to Big Sur, and they are all the same. There is no problem with the same videos on iOS devices. Also there are no problems on these Macs with videos on other sites: it is only Facebook that is the problem, and I've only seen the problem with the videos I have recorded myself, using OBS (Mac) in conjunction with Facebook Live Producer, not with anyone else's Facebook videos. And nobody not using a Mac has reported any problem with my videos to me.
Has anybody got any idea what is going on?

How to download videos from Facebook
Here’s how to download videos from Facebook on desktop and mobile
Want to know how to download videos from Facebook? You’re in the right place. Downloading videos from Facebook is useful for a range of reasons, namely so that you can watch them wherever you are — internet or not.
Unfortunately, there’s no official way to download videos from Facebook like there is with some of the best streaming services like YouTube Premium or Netflix. You might have seen the button next to clips on the site that saves “Save video”, but all this does is add the video to a saved videos list, essentially a favorites list, so you can watch it later on the app or website.
Luckily, there's a way to download videos from Facebook, and it works on desktop and mobile. You must ensure, however, that there aren’t any copyright restrictions on the video you’re downloading before you get started. Otherwise, you might land yourself in hot water.
It's also worth bearing in mind that the uploader of private videos may now want you to download them — after all, they are probably private for a reason.
Once you’ve made sure to check both of the above, here’s how to download Facebook videos.
Reader Offer: 35% off EaseUS Video Downloader EaseUS Video Downloader makes it simple to download 4K/8K Facebook videos or a favorites list at your fingertips to allow you to watch them later on the app or website. How to download videos from Facebook on desktop
These steps were tested using Chrome browser and should be the same for Mac and Windows.
1. In your desktop browser, go to the Facebook website and find the video you want to download . For the purposes of this guide, we’ll use a video on the official Tom’s Guide Facebook page .

2. Click Share and then click Copy link .
3. Paste this link into a new browser tab. It may be shortened to an "fb.watch" link. If so, press Enter so it expands and you should be left with a full URL starting with https://www.facebook.com.
4. Now change the URL in the address bar so that “www.” is changed to “mbasic." and press Enter .
5. You’ll now be presented with an ugly mobile view, as seen below. Press the play button to start the video. It should open in a new tab. If it doesn't, right click the video and select Open in a New Tab .
6. Right click on the video and click Save Video As.
7. Choose a location in your file explorer and save the video .
How to download videos from Facebook on mobile (non-Samsung)
Downloading Facebook videos on mobile is a whole different kettle of fish, and while there are apps that claim to do it, a far simpler way is to use the website FBDown.net . This works on Android and iOS, but you'll need to download the Firefox browser on an iPhone or iPad , as the FBDown.net site doesn't load properly in Safari. If you own a Samsung device, skip down to the next section .
Bear in mind that this method only works on publicly shared Facebook videos.
1. Open the Facebook mobile app and log in .
2. Find the video you want to download, and tap Share underneath.
3. Swipe across and tap Copy Link .
4. Open your mobile browser (remember, to use Firefox if you’re on an iPhone) and head to www.fbdown.net . Then, paste the video URL into the box in the middle of the page, and tap Download .
5. On the next page, tap the link to download in either Normal or High Quality. This will impact the file size and how much space the video takes up on your mobile device.
6. This will open another page showing just the Facebook video. Long-press the clip and then tap Download video when the option appears.
The video will now be saved to your mobile device, where you can play it offline and keep it for as long as you want.
How to download videos from Facebook on a Samsung device
If you own a Samsung device, you can download videos from Facebook without having to use a separate app or website. We tested this method on a Z Fold 4 and it worked perfectly, although it didn't work on the Google Pixel or OnePlus devices we also tried to test it on.
1. Find a Facebook video in Chrome . You don't need to tap it to open it in full-screen mode, the next step will work either from your feed or in full-screen.
2. Long press the video and tap Download .
Once the Download is complete, your video will be stored in your phone's files. Needless to say, this is our favorite method!
Now you're familiar with how to download videos from Facebook, you may also want to learn how to hide Likes on Facebook or how to make yourself anonymous on Facebook . Or if you think emojis are so last year, check out how to make your own Facebook avatar .
We also have more guides for downloading content. Read how to download YouTube videos , how to download YouTube videos on Chrome and how to download music from YouTube .

Media uploaded to Facebook can serve as a backup if you lose the original file. To retrieve a video from Facebook that you uploaded:
Sign in to Facebook on your laptop or desktop computer and go to your profile page.
Go to the header menu and hover the cursor over More .
Select Videos .
If you don't see this option, select Manage Sections from the More menu, and enable Videos .
In the Videos pane, select Your Videos .
Hover over the video you want to download, then select the pencil icon located in the upper-right corner of the image.
Select Download SD (standard definition) or Download HD (high-definition).
The video appears in a new screen. Select the three vertical dots (located in the lower-right corner of the video player), then choose Download . The file downloads to your computer.
How to Save a Video That Someone Else Posted on Facebook
If a video appears in your Facebook timeline after being posted by a friend, family member, company, or other entity, download it as an MP4 file and store it locally for future use. But first, you must trick Facebook into thinking that you're viewing the social media site on a mobile device, an unconventional but necessary workaround. The following steps work for the majority of Facebook videos, including those originally recorded using Facebook Live, in most major web browsers.
Go to the video that you wish to download, then right-click anywhere within the player.
Select Show video URL . Or, select Copy video URL at current time , then skip to step 4.
Click the URL to highlight it, then right-click and select Copy . You can also use the Ctrl + C or Command + C shortcut on the keyboard.
Clear the browser address bar and paste the URL.
Edit the URL. Replace www with m . The front portion of the URL should now read m.facebook.com instead of www.facebook.com. Press Enter to load the new address.
In Microsoft Edge, select Save to download the video file to your default location. In Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, right-click anywhere on the video and select Inspect .
Press Play , then select the arrow icon (located in the upper-left corner of the inspection window).
Select the video to focus on it.
In the Elements window, right-click the URL and select Copy link address . If you don't see that option, double-click the area where you see the video's URL so that it's highlighted, and then copy the URL using the Ctrl + C or Command + C keyboard shortcut.
Paste the new URL into a new, empty browser window and press Enter.
The video will play in a smaller window. Select the three vertical dots that are located in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Select Download . The video downloads as an mp4 file to your computer.
How to Save a Video From Facebook on an iOS or Android Device
To download someone else's video to your phone or tablet, you'll need to download a third-party app such as Friendly For Facebook . Friendly adds workflow and usability features to Facebook, including an option to download any video posted to the social network.
The instructions to download Facebook video to a phone or tablet is the same for both iOS and Android.
After locating the video that you'd like to save to your device, tap the play button. Once the video begins to play, tap anywhere on the screen to see playback and menu information. Select the Cloud icon that's located in the lower-right corner of the screen. A menu will appear that gives you the option to download the video to your mobile device.
On Android, tapping the Cloud icon instantly downloads the video.
Friendly will request access to your photos and other media files. Grant access to download any video from Facebook.
To delete a video you posted on Facebook, navigate to your profile and select Videos . Find the video you want to remove and select Edit (pencil icon). Next, select Delete Video > Delete . Note that if you shared someone else's video, you can delete your post, but the original video will remain.
To post a video on Facebook, select What's on your mind? Next, select the photo/video icon and find the video you want to post. Select it, set your audience visibility, and choose Post . On the app, you can also select the camera icon to create a video to post.
To turn off Autoplay on Facebook , navigate to Facebook in a browser and choose your profile picture > Settings & Privacy > Settings > Videos > turn off Auto-Play Videos .

When sharing a video on Facebook, you may add extra information about it. Before clicking "Post" from Facebook or using the "Share" feature from other websites, consider what extra information you'd like to add about the video.
- Navigate through Facebook's options, such as "feeling" or "watching." You may choose to select one of the options Facebook provides or type your own response. For instance, if you are watching a specific show then type the name and Facebook will most likely list the show, which you would click. If you want to say that you are "watching my family" because you have shared your significant other's vacation video, however, then you may simply type that text in the box. Since Facebook does not have a preset for "my family," you will need to scroll to the bottom of the preset options and click on your specific text (in this instance "my family").
