The quintessential safari look that started 150 years ago in colonial Kenya still prevails.

  • First seen in the late nineteenth century, the jacket—crisp drill cotton with pockets, buttons, epaulets, belt—is part of the British military uniform in the tropics.
  • Adopted as de rigueur by men of privilege like Teddy Roosevelt, Robert Baden-Powell, and Denys Finch Hatton, who endorse the cult of the heroic outdoorsman and set off to explore and to hunt big game in the colonies.
  • Ernest Hemingway, the ur–adventurous manly man, embraces the safari jacket, as does Hollywood, which puts it on movie stars from Clark Gable to Grace Kelly to Johnny Weissmuller.
  • Yves Saint Laurent designs safari jackets for his collection. Veruschka wears one in Vogue: a _succès fou. _

1990—present

  • The safari jacket is ubiquitous high and low and around the world.

  • The pith helmet, which became popular with European militaries in the tropics, is adopted by civilians at the end of the nineteenth century.

Safari Suits

The a-z of safari suits… and the best safari suits to buy.

Looking for a safari suit? Going on a safari is a fun experience, it allows you to explore a vast range of new locations, and it can be incredibly interesting too. The safari experience is fun, rewarding and you will find it very immersive. With that in mind, having the right safari suit is very important. It helps you avoid standing out to protect against predators, and it also makes it easy to stay away from the unwanted heat.

What is a safari suit?

At its core, this is a suit that will help you protect yourself against any potential challenges during a trip in the savanna. It’s a very good idea to have a safari suit because it protects you against any problems. You can pair a safari jacket with dedicated shorts or trousers and it will become a safari suit.

The main idea here is to have a suit that offers protection against many of the challenges that appear in the wilderness. There can be insect bites , predators attacking and so on. The safari suit is designed to be inconspicuous, so you can explore the region at your own pace without worrying about any possible problems that can appear.

What makes a great safari suit?

As we mentioned earlier, the best safari suit is the one that will not make you stand out. The main colors for this tend to be beige, brown, tan or khaki, although you can find some white safari suits too. The idea here is that you want to avoid any impact on the wildlife, instead you want to be camouflaged and experience the wildlife in its most natural format.

Bright colors will most likely make you stand out in the environment. When that happens, you end up scaring the animals, and that’s definitely something you must take into consideration as much as you can. If you would have safari suits that are blue for example or very dark, these will attract a lot of insects that carry yellow fever, dengue fever and malaria, among many others. That’s why specific coloring is very important because it will help you stay safe.

What kinds of safari suits are there?

You can have the standard safari jacket which has the traditional length, it comes with multiple pockets and it should fit perfectly. You also have the mid-length jacket which is shorter and that can be a bit easier to wear. If you want to traverse challenging territories, the bush jacket is very handy.

This one has a belt around the waist and it can have either a similar length or it can be longer when compared to other jackets.

Lastly, you have safari bomber jackets that are made out of polyester fabric. Most of these tend to have 4 path pockets, zippered front and an inside pocket. They are the most durable and dependable, but also the most expensive.

You can also get a safari vest if you want, this one is designed to offer the extra warmth and protection you may need. It also delivers extra pockets too, which is something you need to take into consideration as much as you can.

What to wear with a safari suit?

The upper garments would usually include a shirt under the jacket. Some people want a sleeveless option because it can get very hot. There’s also the option for long sleeves, depending on your own needs and requirements.

For the lower garments, you want to have either shorts or khaki trousers. Women can go for leggings if they want to. Long skirts can be a good idea too, since they offer added protection. When it comes to what footwear you need, you do want safari boots or hiking shoes. Slip on or closed shoes are ok too, but it’s better to go with boots or something that delivers an even better protection.

How to wear a safari suit?

Ideally, you want to use the safari suit when you go in a safari trip with a designated guide. You want to have a shirt, a jacket on top of it, safari trousers and proper shoes. You can adapt everything according to your own needs, and the results can be very interesting once you go down this route. You will be incredibly impressed with the value and results, and the experience is amazing because of it.

Do you need a safari hat?

Yes, normally you do, because there can be all kinds of hazards in the wilderness. A good safari hat needs to be waterproof, to provide you with proper coverage and it should help you fight against the UV rays. Obviously it needs to be comfortable and when it comes to material it can be cotton based, rubber or leather based.

Think about where you are going, this might require some changes to the safari suit

It’s important to know where and also when you are going on a safari. This will make it easy to identify the proper equipment you need. If you visit during the dry season, then the equipment above will do just fine. However, if you visit during the wet season, then you need to think about additional items that offer waterproofing and added protection. However, the colors need to stay the same for the most part, even if you visit during the rainy season.

The safari suits didn’t change that much over the past century. People have always been very excited to explore the wilderness, and the structure of a safari suit was very well prepared from the start. Granted, nowadays we are using different materials and the designs are a bit more modern, but the regular safari suits always had a thick jacket, durable pants, and high-quality shoes. It’s important to have the right equipment when you’re going into the jungle, so using the right tips and tricks will help you more than you imagine. Give these a try and remember to take all the little details into consideration as they can help save your life!

And that’s our take on safari suits. What do you think – any important information missing? Or perhaps you have a few safari suit tips of your own. Please let us know in the comments section below!

Unveiling the Evolution of Safari Uniforms: From Expeditionary Gear to Fashion Statement

Posted by Azulwear on 12th Oct 2023

safari suit wikipedia

Intro: When we think of safari adventures, images of thrilling wildlife encounters and breathtaking landscapes often come to mind. However, another aspect that adds to the allure of these expeditions is the distinctive safari uniforms worn by explorers, hunters, and wildlife enthusiasts alike. In this article, we delve into the evolution of safari uniforms, exploring their practicality, cultural significance, and transformation into a fashion statement. 1. Historical Origins and Purpose: Safari uniforms trace their origins back to the late 19th century when British colonialists embarked on expeditions into the African wilderness. These uniforms served a practical purpose by offering protection against the harsh elements, mosquito bites, thorny bushes, and even predatory animals. Characterised by classic elements such as khaki clothing, wide-brimmed hats, and sturdy boots, these uniforms were designed for functionality and durability. 2. Practicality and Functionality: The choice of fabric, design, and accessories in safari uniforms were all carefully tailored to suit the demands of the African bush. Khaki or tan-toned clothing became popular as it helps to camouflage dirt and dust, lessens heat absorption, and reduces the visibility of sweat stains. Pockets were strategically placed to allow for easy access to essential items, such as pocket knives, compasses, and maps. The addition of wide-brimmed hats protected explorers from the scorching sun, while lightweight and breathable materials ensured comfort and mobility in challenging environments. 4. Modern Safari Fashion: Over the years, safari uniforms have evolved from expedition gear to a prominent fashion statement. Designers and fashion houses have incorporated safari-inspired elements into their collections, giving birth to a trend that celebrates adventure, travel, and the spirit of exploration. From high-end runway shows to ready-to-wear items, modern safari fashion often includes flowing dresses, tailored jackets, cotton trousers, bucket hats, and earth-toned accessories. This fusion of practicality and style has made safari fashion a popular choice for outdoor enthusiasts and fashion enthusiasts alike. 5. Sustainability and Ethical Safari Fashion: In recent times, there has been a shift towards sustainable and ethical safari fashion. Conscious brands are opting for eco-friendly materials, fair trade practices, and ethical sourcing. The use of organic cotton, recycled fabrics, and non-toxic dyes in safari uniforms not only reduces environmental impact but also ensures a responsible and mindful approach towards wildlife conservation and communities residing in these regions.

The History Of The Safari Jacket

Words by James Eden The iconic design, as the name safari suggests, was originally constructed for use in the warmer climates belonging to rugged African savanna. Its origins can be traced back as far as the 1900’s in a period during which British and European troops were positioned in South Africa during the Second Boer War.

“ Decades later, the safari jacket assumes a somewhat different identity than functional military clothing with modern takes of adventure. Nowadays, storage details are exploited in an alternative way, namely, to stock up on wayfarers and mobiles.”

European soldiers venturing into exotic terrain required lightweight, breathable outerwear. Military pieces that would not weigh them down in the blazing South African heat. They were uniformed in practical solutions fabricated from cooling cotton yarns including tough cotton drill to alleviate and combat a different enemy, blisteringly high temperatures. Often fabrics were dyed Khaki – predominantly because it was a more accessible price point to manufacture and secondarily because it blended seamlessly with the rugged bush landscape.

NICK ASHLEY, CO-FOUNDER

Our co-founder Nick Ashley has always been a passionate advocate of Safari clothing, “it will always be so stylish because it’s so practical. FROM TOP TO BOTTOM: SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH AND SIR ROGER MOORE

In light of this style enduring a mini revival, there are a few characters that spring to mind, gentlemen that wore it well, showing real distinction in the limelight and on the big screen. We have always been drawn to national treasure, Sir David Attenborough, who has perennially adopted the style. Possibly the most celebrated wearer of safari clothing is perhaps the late great Sir Roger Moore who was seen repeatedly as 007, sporting sharply-cut safari garb in no less than five James Bond Films from 1974’s The Man with the Golden Gun to Moonraker in 1979. This warm-weather staple has seen numerous resurgences over the past decade and our homage offers all the customary hallmarks of the traditional Safari Jacket, including twin epaulettes and multiple flap-secure pockets. The Private White V.C. Safari Jacket has been fabricated, in a series of lightweight fabrics constructed using ultra-fine long-staple Egyptian cotton and flyweight Irish linen, in order to keep you looking and feeling cool in Mumbai, or Manchester.

1968 First Safari Jacket

Related to Fashion

Yves Saint Laurent first introduced the safari jacket in his 1967 runway shows. However, it was a one-off design created for a photo-essay for Vogue (Paris) the following year that made the design famous and quickly turned it into a classic. With the safari jacket, Saint Laurent continued to define his style, which borrowed from male codes of dress to revolutionize women’s fashion. He was inspired by both the uniforms worn by the Afrika Korps and, more broadly, the outfits worn by Occidental men in Africa. Made of cotton gabardine, the safari jacket was a comfortable piece suitable for hot summers. It perfectly embodied the spirit of freedom sparked by the 1960s as well as a new form of seduction. As early as 1969, the safari jacket was also available in a ready-to-wear version at the SAINT LAURENT rive gauche boutique. It was an immediate success.

‘Revolutionary’ Suit Trend Shows The Epicentre Of Men’s Fashion Is Shifting For The Better

Europe, pay attention.

‘Revolutionary’ Suit Trend Shows The Epicentre Of Men’s Fashion Is Shifting For The Better

It used to be that any conversation about high fashion naturally gravitated towards Europe: the grand couturiers of France, the storied luxury houses of Italy, tailors on London’s Savile Row…

Europe might still be a fashion powerhouse, but it’s no longer the only word in men’s style. DMARGE recently conducted a reader survey about changing perceptions of luxury, and a whopping 80% of you agree that luxury doesn’t have to come from Europe. Just as we recognise that Europe’s not the sole domain of the finer things in life, so too do we observe that the hottest style trends are increasingly coming from places outside of the ‘Old World’.

One men’s style trend that’s being led by designers and snappy dressers outside of Europe is the revival of the leisure suit. While the first leisure suits originated in the 1930s on the US’ West Coast, it was in the 1960s and 1970s that leisure suits became particularly popular, and emerged the form we recognise them as today.

Taking on design cues from the utilitarian safari jacket, safari suits became fashionable thanks to French designers like Ted Lapidus and Yves Saint Laurent championing the look. The style was also picked up by the mod subculture in the UK, as well as by quintessential British men’s style icons of the era such as Roger Moore and the Prince of Wales. In recent years, it’s become somewhat kitsch; a shorthand for sleaze.

But the modern safari suit has far more salubrious and less European origins. Because leisure suits are an eminently practical, rather smart warm-weather option, well-dressed gents in Africa and South Asia have long championed the safari suit, further refining the style and transforming it from something to be mocked to a respectable smart-casual option. Now, Australians are paying attention – and Europe should, too.

Take Australian-founded, South-Africa based tailoring outfit Button Brothers’ leisure suit, which is “inspired by the powerful leaders of the Front Line States who fought for the liberty of many in Africa,” taking design cues from military fatigues worn by revolutionary freedom fighters whilst incorporating soft, breathable cotton.

Another Australian tailor that’s reinvigorating the leisure suit is Patrick Johnson . His take incorporates beautifully-textured linen and nods to the sorts of mountain jackets explorers in the Himalayas would regularly don during mountain expeditions – turning adventure gear into haute couture.

For a different take on the leisure suit, one only has to look to US-based tailoring service Hangrr , whose leisure suits throwback to peak American preppy style: small pockets, slim tailoring and a double vent for maximum warm-weather comfort.

The revival of the leisure suit proves something that Australian luxury consumers have known intuitively for many years: that fashion’s epicentre is slowly shifting from Europe and expanding elsewhere. Keep an eye on this trend – and keep your eye out for other men’s style trends emerging outside of Europe.

The Evolution of Safari Clothing in the 19th Century : A Fashionable Journey through Time

The 19th century was a period of exploration, adventure, and discovery, and this spirit of exploration extended to the clothing worn by safari-goers. Safari clothing underwent a remarkable evolution during this century, reflecting the changing needs and tastes of those venturing into the unknown.

At the beginning of the 19th century , safari clothing was heavily influenced by the European upper classes. Well-to-do adventurers would embark on expeditions to far-off lands, donning sturdy yet refined clothing suitable for the harsh conditions they encountered. Breathable cotton shirts were paired with breeches or trousers , and leather boots provided protection for their feet.

However, as the century progressed and explorers delved deeper into uncharted territories, their clothing needs changed. Practicality and durability became paramount, leading to the emergence of khaki and beige colors that could easily conceal dirt and wear. Lightweight fabrics such as cotton twill and canvas were favored for their ability to withstand rugged environments.

Safari jackets became an iconic garment of the 19th-century explorer’s wardrobe. Made from durable materials like linen or cotton , these jackets featured multiple pockets to hold essential items and provided protection from the elements. Some even had detachable sleeves to adapt to changing climates.

Headwear was also essential for safari-goers to shield themselves from the scorching sun and insects. The pith helmet , with its distinctive domed shape and wide brim, became synonymous with safari fashion. It offered both shade and ventilation in hot climates.

In the late 19th century , the influence of colonialism began to permeate safari fashion. African and Asian traditional clothing elements inspired the Western safari style. Animal prints , such as leopard or zebra patterns, were incorporated into garments as stylish accents that evoked the thrill of the hunt.

The 19th century witnessed a dramatic transformation in safari clothing, from its origins in European aristocratic fashion to a functional and fashionable ensemble for intrepid explorers. It exemplifies how clothing can adapt to meet the demands of a changing world while still reflecting the spirit of adventure and discovery.

The safari suit is not from the 19th century. It was actually popularized in the mid-20th century, specifically in the 1960s and 1970s. The suit became a trendy fashion choice for adventurers and travelers, inspired by the attire worn by big-game hunters during safaris in Africa. Its design typically featured a lightweight fabric, multiple pockets, and a belted waist. The safari suit’s popularity eventually waned, but it remains an iconic symbol of that era.

What is the origin and historical background of the safari attire?

The origin and historical background of safari attire in the 19th century

The safari attire, also known as “safari clothing” or “bush attire,” originated during the colonial era in the 19th century. It was closely associated with the European adventurers, explorers, and big game hunters who embarked on expeditions to Africa, particularly East Africa.

During this time, Africa was considered a mysterious and exotic destination, attracting many European travelers seeking adventure and new experiences. These travelers required practical and durable clothing that could withstand the harsh climate, rough terrain, and encounters with wildlife.

Safari attire was designed to meet these specific needs. It typically consisted of lightweight and breathable garments suited for the hot and humid African climate. The color palette revolved around earth tones, such as khaki, olive green, and tan, to provide camouflage in the bush.

Pith helmets , made of hardened cork or pith, became an iconic element of safari attire. They were worn by travelers to protect their heads from the sun and offered some protection against falling objects or encounters with low-hanging branches.

Shirts and jackets were made from lightweight and breathable fabrics like cotton or linen, allowing air to flow freely and keeping the wearer cool. These pieces often featured multiple pockets for storing essential items such as compasses, maps, and ammunition.

Trousers were loose-fitting and made from durable materials like canvas or twill. They were designed to provide comfort, freedom of movement, and protection against mosquito bites and scratches from vegetation.

Footwear for safaris typically consisted of sturdy boots or high-top shoes, providing stability and protecting the feet from rough terrain, thorns, and snake bites. Socks were usually made of wool or other moisture-wicking materials to keep the feet dry.

It is worth mentioning that safari attire, while primarily worn by European adventurers, influenced local African dress as well. African guides and porters adopted elements of safari clothing due to their practicality in the African environment.

Safari attire originated in the 19th century as a specialized clothing style for European adventurers, explorers, and hunters on expeditions to Africa. It offered practicality, comfort, and protection while blending with the African landscape.

Safari jacket

Safari jacket Safari-Jacket.JPG

A safari jacket or bush jacket also known as a “shacket” is a garment originally designed for the purpose of going on safari in the African bush. When paired with trousers or shorts, it becomes a safari suit. [1] A safari jacket is commonly a lightweight cotton drill or lighter poplin jacket, traditionally khaki in color, with a self-belt, epaulets, four or more expandable bellows pockets and often with cartridge loops.

Lightweight, light-coloured uniforms were worn by European soldiers serving in warm climates from the 19th century and, little altered, throughout World War II . [2] They typically featured epaulettes , pleated pockets, belts and other features later found on safari jackets.

The earliest reference to a 'safari suit' listed in The Oxford English Dictionary [3] is from an American newspaper in 1935. In 1936, author and adventurer Ernest Hemingway designed a 'bush jacket' which was made by Willis & Geiger Outfitters . In 1939, Abercrombie & Fitch advertised safari jackets, shorts and trousers, of 'coat shirt style' for sports and leisure wear. [4]

In the 1960s and 1970s, safari suits became fashionable thanks to designer versions for men and women by, for example, French designers Ted Lapidus and Yves Saint Laurent , both of whom are among those credited with inventing and popularising the look. [5] [6]

The safari suit is popularly associated with Australian fashion in the 1970s. It was sometimes worn by the former South Australian Premier Don Dunstan . [7]

On 7 March 1974, male politicians in the Northern Territory were given permission by the Speaker of the House Les MacFarlane to wear safari suits during sittings of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly . It was granted at the request of the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Jon Isaacs . The Speaker of the House said:

Honourable members, I have received a further request that the standard of male dress be relaxed to include safari jackets. I have been in touch with the federal parliament and I find that the Speaker, Sir Billy Snedden , is allowing safari jackets with shirt and tie. He also allows one member to wear a safari jacket over an open-necked shirt. Therefore, I have decided to accept safari jackets as suitable dress in the Assembly. I must say that I do this very reluctantly because I feel that we have relaxed our standards too far. However, the precedent has been set. I might add that I will not allow T-shirts.

In India, the safari suit gained popularity through the 1970s influenced to a large degree by films ( James Bond / Roger Moore ) and some fashions trends from the west for warmer climates. The safari suit in India gained prominence when local synthetic fibre manufacture and supply was significantly increased in the later half of the 1970s.

Reliance Industries and other textile manufactures set up synthetic fibre plants in India significantly reducing the price of synthetic fibre and the Indian middle class jumped at the opportunity to be well dressed in a fabric which, though unsuited to India's climate was fairly cheap, easy to maintain and long-lasting. [8] The safari suit continued to be the de facto business attire, particularly in government/public sectors and the SMB arena in India, through the late-1990s. With India's growth over the 1990s, liberalization and with the middle class suddenly having more disposable income, the younger generations began to gravitate towards more modern western fashions such as suits and other business attire. Although it is still visible in some parts of India, the Safari suit is now indelibly associated with the so-called License Raj —the slow, inefficient Indian bureaucracy of the 1970s and the 1980s.

Beginning in the mid 2010s , a variant of the bush jacket, known as a shirt jacket or shacket , underwent a revival in the UK and Europe due to the popularisation of vintage workwear by the hipster subculture . [10] These were frequently made from blue denim, cambric , seersucker , heavy cotton in olive green or khaki , natural linen, or camouflage cloth, and featured patch pockets . [11] Some had the epaulets , belt, and pocket flaps of the traditional safari jacket, while others did not. [12]

what is a safari jacket

What do you think when you see a Land Rover Discovery or any off-road vehicle? A man on an expedition to explore the wilderness of any forest or someone a lot like Bear Grylls and Wildlife influencers available on the National Geographic channel. Safari is the utterly used, iconic word utilized by the Adventurers in various ways, which means a journey or a voyage, very much similar to adventure right?

In this blog, I am going to brief you guys on how to style a safari jacket

It is tough cotton or cotton-blend fabric formed into a loose-fitting, mid-length garment with four bellows pockets at the chest and hip in earth colours. Today, post-evolution the safari jackets are based upon breathable fabric like linen or cotton drill embedded with fashionable details such as an open neck, epaulettes and a belt to keep everything pulled together and in order.

What To Expect In This Article?

History of the Safari Jacket

Second Boer War- In the early 1800s the British soldiers required lightweight, breathable clothing that wouldn’t weigh them down in the heat of South Africa. Their uniforms were made from khaki cotton drill and generally featured four large bellows pockets on the chest and waist, a large shirt collar, shoulder epaulettes and a belted waist. Even after decades, the US Army’s M-1943 field jacket was introduced- khaki drills with specific pocket, epaulette and belt combination.

The Practicality of the Design

The safari jacket which served as a uniform once played a vital role with its design; the bellows pocket increased the carrying capacity. The wide collar; spreads across the chest, making it breathable and ventilated for the person wearing it. Lastly, the belt around the waist ensured that everything stayed in place.

Who Wore the Safari Jackets

Abercrombie & Fitch the designers designed the Safari jacket for Ernest Hemingway in the 1930s who displayed the rugged and practical appeal of these Khaki drills. A&F plead; their jackets were made from an imported English, cotton drill material that had been cravened to shed rain. They also claimed it to be untearable, soft and pliable.

The timeless classic “Safari” starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr . conveyed the rugged look in the Hollywood industry along with Clarke Gable .

Roger Moore’s – The classic James Bond The 007 in the 1960s,70s, and 80s wore safari suits on the big screen influencing the fans globally. He wore it in his various James Bond films as well as many other movies too. Lastly,  As befitting of a Royal, of his stature, the former, Prince Charles is just as at home in his bespoke Anderson & Sheppardsuits , as he is on the continent in a time-beaten safari jacket.

Evolution: From Khaki Drill to Safari Jackets

Today the Safari Jackets are equally relevant and have transcended their previous life in terms of fashion and practicality. The elegance of the design and fabric makes the Jacket wearable in

Summers. It helps you to rock the rugged look somewhere where you need just something more than a shirt in warm weather.

The design has evolved a lot with due time and different designers who customized the look- Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, and brands like Abercrombie and Barbour have versions too.

The safari jacket is one of the most versatile outerwear offerings available today. No longer viewed as a garment worn purely by the wealthy elite, it has, like many of its military cousins, surpassed its origins and become an important sub-genre in contemporary menswear today. Whether you’re looking for an alternative replacement for the traditional blazer, or you want a lightweight jacket you can throw over a white T-shirt and jeans, a safari jacket is a viable option that will only get better with time.

How to Style a Safari Jacket

To be in the spotlight there are various ways you can wear the safari jacket adroitly. And there are also some key features you need to know before you start expressing your charisma.

Elementary Safari outfit

The best way you can radiate your safari jacket is by keeping it basic. Avoid wearing something that competes with it in terms of attention. Put on a plain T-shirt underneath along with denim or earthy colour boots and rock the dandy style.

canny safari outfit

John Frankenstein’s look is the canniest when it comes to safari jackets- a red tie, black oxfords and the open front. It is the smartest look one can emit in the safari saga.

Ceremonious

The safari jacket can be styled formally too. If you have a go-to formal event in the summers then you can throw on a formal shirt and semi-formal corduroy and moccasins and that might be it to radiate your personality and look whilst wearing that very safari jacket.

This style is for those who like the wilderness. The jacket with the epaulettes and loads of pockets can be very essential in keeping ammo for you when you go hunting or maybe the best for keeping camera equipment while you’re on a wildlife shoot. You can throw it on yourself with leather boots and shorts and you’re good to go.

The 3 Best Coloured Safari Jackets to Go for:

It is earthy-coloured poly cotton, lined with polyester with a notched collar style and a buttoned closure style embedded with open hem cuffs which makes it breathable. The total of 6 pockets, 4 on the outside and 2 on the inside makes it fashionable and as well as practical. We hope you would say goodbye to the bags you carry after buying this specific piece. They are available in various colours but I believe the best are as followed:

Closing Thoughts

Converging all the points to realize how robust this outwear is. Safari Jackets are not just stylish but are also functional at the same time. The minimalist take on these jackets makes them easier to wear. No more epaulets and prison belts on the belly. Instead, pared-down pockets, shorter lengths, and a hidden placket make Safari jackets the outerwear of choice.
