Travel network group to acquire global travel group.

The Travel Network Group (TTNG) has agreed a deal with dnata Travel Group to acquire its agent consortium Global Travel Group.

The "in-principle" agreement is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks, it was confirmed in a joint statement issued on Thursday (25 June).

Global’s more than 200 members will remain part of a separate membership proposition within TTNG, alongside the Travel Trust Association, Worldchoice and Independent Travel Experts.

TTNG chief executive Gary Lewis said: "We are delighted to be welcoming the Global members into our group. Our longstanding partnership with dnata and Gold Medal is one of the key reasons why we have put together this proposition.

"One of our core strategies as a group is to have scale in the market and be relevant, to ensure we can inspire, grow and protect our individual travel members."

John Bevan, chief executive of dnata Travel Group, added: "As part of the proposed organisational changes that we’ve started to consult with our team on, it seemed appropriate that we gave strategic direction for Global Travel Group to be supported by owners whose focus is solely around their membership proposition.

"We’re confident the many friends we have within Global will continue to thrive with The Travel Network Group and we wish them the very best wishes for the future."

The Travel Network Group completes Global acquisition

The Travel Network Group (TTNG) has completed its acquisition of The Global Travel Group, adding 285 members to the consortium.

An in-principle deal was agreed in June for TTNG to acquire Global from the dnata Travel Group, but due diligence has now been completed – taking the total number of TTNG members to 1,125.

The 285 Global Travel Group members will remain a separate membership proposition within TTNG, alongside the Travel Trust Association (TTA), Worldchoice and homeworking division Independent Travel Experts (ITE).

Since June, TTNG has hosted several webinars and weekly zoom calls with Global members, to explain products and services available to them after the completion of the acquisition.

Gary Lewis, chief executive of The Travel Network Group, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Global Travel Group and its 285 Members to The Travel Network Group.

“We strongly believe that now is a crucial time for travel businesses to stand together and we believe members of both The Global Travel Group and The Travel Network Group will benefit greatly from the additional scale and opportunities the acquisition brings.
