Tom Cruise's ultra-luxe Rolex GMT is, unsurprisingly, a pilot classic

The age-defying Tom Cruise has a watch collection every bit as timeless as himself. Over the course of the promo run for Top Gun: Maverick he’s stayed true to his make-believe fighter pilot credentials with a series of masculine and robust tool watches such as a steel Rolex Datejust, a somewhat louder Breitling Chronomat (which would not have been out of place in the first Top Gun ), and this week, a classic Rolex GMT with red and blue Pepsi dial, but, get this – in white gold, instead of steel. It’s an unusual remix of the aviation classic which suits a man who probably has every watch he wants and now can branch out into something different.

The original GMT was a game changer for Rolex. Released in 1955 it became the official timepiece of Pan Am pilots who needed a watch that could tell them what time zone such was the immense speed of the new Boeing 367-80 jets they were flying. Rolex’s solution was to add a hand which made one revolution every 24 hours with a blue and red bezel bearing the numbers 1-24 which rotated around the watch face. Not only was this new feature eye-catching enough to check the timezone at a glance, it was also rather stylish.

Alongside a pair of Ray Bans the GMT swiftly became a symbol of a new generation of globetrotting rich people known as the ‘jet set’. Watch 2002's Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a con man pretending to be a Pan Am pilot, to get a sense of the kind of mid-century glamour the GMT evokes.

There are a number of highly luxurious finishes on Tom Cruise ’s white gold remix, not least of which is solid 18k white gold whereas the original was in stainless steel. Let’s not forget that this was originally a ‘tool watch’ as indispensable to a pilot as a slide rule or compass. Nevertheless, for the white gold version, the original anodized aluminium bezel with bakelite numbers has been replaced with the somewhat harder and more luxurious substance called ‘Cerachrom’ a type of ceramic, while the numbers have been coated with platinum. All of which gives the watch a more luxurious and substantial feel than the original, which, of course, is in keeping with the fact that you’ve strapped on a solid chunk of 18K white gold onto your wrist. Apart from that, it’s pretty much the same watch, only slightly nicer and definitely a strong addition to Cruise's collection.

A bit like the man himself, the GMT has remained the same but gotten a little more distinguished and fancier as time goes by.

Movies are Tom Cruise’s true passion , but he cares about other things, too. Like watches.

The Top Gun: Maverick star has taken advantage of the return of the multi-week, globe-spanning publicity tour to show off his horological taste. Last week, that meant wearing not one but two exquisite Cartier timepieces while promoting the blockbuster in South Korea.

The first of those timepieces, a Calibre chronograph, could be seen on the actor’s wrist as soon as he got off the plane at Gimpo Airport in Seoul. The watch was introduced by the French brand in 2010 and was its first powered by an in-house movement, hence its name. Unlike Cartier’s most famous model, the Tank, it features a round 42 mm stainless-steel case that is attached to a matching bracelet by some rather prominent lugs. Under its scratch-resistant crystal is a white face with prominent Roman numeral hour markers, luminous hands, 12-hour and 30-minute sub-dial and a date aperture at 6 o’clock. It has a power reserve of 48 hours and is water-resistant to up to 328 feet. No longer in production, it can regularly be found at online marketplaces, like Chrono24 , for a little over $9,000.

Cruise displayed another Cartier, this time a Santos de Cartier, days later at a press event in South Korea’s capital city. Unlike the Calibre, it has the rectangular shape that the brand’s watches are most commonly associated with. The timepiece, which GQ notes was designed at the behest of pilot Alberto Santos Dumont, has a 39.8 mm stainless steel case that houses a silvered opaline dial with Roman numeral hour markers, blue sword-shaped hands and a date window at 6 o’clock. At its heart is the calibre 1847 MC automatic winding movement and it’s also water-resistant up to 328 feet. Unlike the actor’s other watch, it’s still in production and is available directly from the brand for $7450.

Cruise may have only worn Cartiers in South Korea, but he’s not a one-brand timepiece kind of guy. When Top Gun: Maverick premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, an ultra-thin Vacheron Constantin peeked out of the cuff of his tuxedo. And in the film itself, his titular character can be seen wearing a Porsche Design chronograph .

Started as a Classic TV Series, Now a Box-Office Movie Franchise

The Mission Impossible franchise didn’t start as a big-budget action movie – it was first a popular TV series. The first Mission Impossible TV series ran from 1966 to 1973 and the second one ran from 1988 to 1990. The first movie was released in 1996 and, except for including the character of Jim Phelps (the MIF leader in the television series), was a complete overhaul from its TV counterpart. However, the iconic Mission Impossible theme, the lighted fuse intro, and self-destructing messages were kept intact.

The character of Jim Phelps, played by Peter Graves in the series and was re-casted to Jon Voight in the movie, is the only original character to appear in both the television and movie adaptation. However, the portrayal of the character differs greatly in both adaptations. While Jim Phelps was the honorable leader of the MIF in the TV series, the movie version painted him as a more malevolent and manipulative light who turned out to be the main antagonist of the first film.

Tom Cruise did the Majority of His Stunts

For an A-list actor, you would think that Tom Cruise would leave the dangerous action scenes to his stunt double – well, you would be wrong. For most of the big action-packed sequences in the Mission Impossible film series, Tom Cruise decided to do it himself. From scaling the highest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, to hanging from outside an airplane as it is taking off – Tom Cruise did those stunts himself. You can imagine the absolute anxiety that the director might have been feeling during those scenes as the last thing you’d want is for your lead actor to go splat.

For a character like Ethan Hunt who utilizes a slew of high-tech gadgets at his disposal, you would expect him to have a collection of modern and multi-functional timepieces to help accomplish his missions. We will be going through each of the six installments of the Mission Impossible film franchise and see what type of watch Tom Cruise wore for each entry.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011) – Tudor Heritage Chronograph

In the fourth installment of the spy-action film series, Ethan Hunt can be seen wearing a Tudor Heritage Chronograph timepiece instead of a Casio watch. As the plot of the film heavily involves infiltrating a dangerous criminal organization, it is logical for Ethan Hunt to also wear a more luxurious yet equally reliable timepiece to complete the façade that the character was going for. As for the timepiece itself, the Tudor Heritage Chronograph brings a certain level of sophistication with its aesthetics. Case in point, the ribose-style grey hour markers, and striking black dial. Notable Watches Worn by Other Characters in Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise wasn’t the only one wearing a well-known watch brand in Ghost Protocol. Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) are also seen wearing a  Casio G-Shock GX-56-1B  and a  Rolex Submariner Date  respectively during certain scenes in the movie. Again, the wristwear choice reflects both characters with Benji leaning towards the more modern and multi-functional watch (Casio) and the CIA operative, Brandt, having a more professional and classier timepiece (Rolex).

Tom Cruise’s Watch Will Be Accurate Until the Year 2100

It’s been a good week for Tom Cruise who, after a two-year delay, finally strutted the Cannes red carpet for the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick . Fortunately the wait appears to have been worth it, with the film scoring a slew of improbably positive reviews and a five-minute standing ovation from Cannes’ notoriously fickle audience. Unlike other black-tie events, the dress code at Cannes historically offers more room for interpretation—like, say, a hot pink Louis Vuitton suit , or a Dan Flashes shirt and two watches . Unlike his squad of flyboy castmates , though, Cruise kept things rakish but conservative, capping off his red carpet tux with a tousled mane and a $120,000 haute complication from the world’s oldest watchmaker. Goose would be proud.

While he seems to have comfortably settled into a career of jumping from one action franchise to another, Tom Cruise is a surprisingly versatile actor . The same can be said about the sleek Vacheron Constantin timepiece he wore to collect his honorary Palme d’Or this week, a rugged sports watch that’s refined enough to fit under the cuff of a tuxedo shirt. Based on the standard Overseas, which has all of the 1970s beauty of an AP Royal Oak but significantly less hype, this one features a highly complex perpetual calendar movement that will display the correct day, date, month and moon phase for the next 78 years without requiring any adjustment.

Woods is back on the greens this week for the PGA Championship at Tulsa’s Southern Hills Country Club, where the golfing GOAT is chasing his 16th major title and 83rd PGA Tour victory. Unlike Woods’ choice of footwear, which he's switched up this year for the first time since 1996 , he remains loyal to his Rolex Deepsea, the brand’s top-tier diver’s watch. An appropriate choice for a guy who eats world records for breakfast, the Deepsea famously traveled to the bottom of the ocean attached to James Cameron’s submersible , and is rated water-resistant to an extremely impressive 12,800 feet. Whether or not Scotty Scheffler takes home a win at the 2022 PGA Championship, he’s already clinched the title of hypiest watch on the tour thanks to this Rolex with an unmissable “Coral Red'' dial. Launched in summer 2020, the red-dialed OP (along with Tiffany blue and yellow versions) quickly became one of the hottest and hardest-to-buy pieces in the Rolex lineup. Anyone looking to grab a colorful Oyster Perpetual in 2022, however, will have to bid for it ( and can expect to pay up to 10 times the original $5,900 retail price ), since Rolex recently quietly discontinued them earlier this year. Porsche Design Chronograph 1 - Tom Cruise - Top Gun

Tom Cruise wears a  Porsche Design Chronograph 1  watch in the movie  Top Gun (1986) and he wears the watch once again in Top Gun: Maverick (2022).

In this article we will show you the EXACT model that Tom Cruise wears in the first Top Gun film.

The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 was the first watch with a black PVD coating, originally launched in 1972 this was a revolutionary watch. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche (designer of the Porsche 911), the watch was produced by Orfina.

There are variations of the watch, with different inner bezels and with Orfina logo and versions with "PD" (Porsche Design) logo.

The close up image on the left shows the exact variation of the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 worn by Tom Cruise: it's the reference number 7750, with on top of the bezel the "60" - "1 MILE" and the PD logo.

As can be seen in the film and the close-up images, the black PVD coating has worn off Tom's watch in the first Top Gun film. In the new Top Gun: Maverick film, the black PVD coating on the strap look immaculate, either from a restoration or by using a different watch.

An original Porsche Design Chronograph 1 in good condition can fetch close to $10,000.

Alternatives

If you're looking for an affordable alternative you could consider the Dan Henry 1972 Maverick model which is a very good replica of the watch, although on eBay even those watches can fetch around $800 .

Another copy of the Porsche is the Lorsa Valjoux 7750, which also still costs $699 on eBay .

A different looking black chronograph is for example the Bulova 98A186 on Amazon for $520 .  

In Top Gun: Maverick , we can also spot a lot of IWC watches. IWC provides watches to the real Top Gun school and offers a range of Top Gun branded watches.

Top Gun: Maverick – The Return of the Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph?

It seems that, 34 years later, maverick will still rely on his pvd-coated chronograph..

In the 1986 hit action film  Top Gun , Tom Cruise starred as Naval Aviator Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who was selected to attend the TOP GUN programme, at the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School. No need to talk about the cult status of the movie, about how cool the music was, how many of us imagined ourselves behind the yoke of the F14 Tomcat… And as you’re reading MONOCHROME, well you should know that there was a watch involved in the 1986 movie… And it seems that the Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph Black-PVD will be back on the wrist of Tom Cruise, in the 2020 sequel Top Gun: Maverick . And that is quite something!

The watch Tom Cruise wore during Top Gun was a Porsche Design chronograph in stainless steel, with a black PVD-coating, produced by Orfina, and powered by a Valjoux 7750, with central minutes and seconds. This watch was one of the first on the market with a black PVD coating, not for fashion, but because the matte black treatment reduced reflections.

You can see the black Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph clearly on Maverick’s wrist, throughout the entire film.   Here is a photo taken at the end of the film with Cruise embracing Val Kilmer’s character, Lieutenant Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.   It provides a great shot of the watch.

In June 2020, we will see the release of Top Gun: Maverick , the sequel to the 1986 film, with Tom Cruise reprising his role as Maverick. The second trailer was just released yesterday and while watching it, I noticed a familiar-looking timepiece on the wrist of Cruise’s character.

At the 51-second mark of the trailer, we see Cruise shifting the throttle while flying and we get a glimpse of his left wrist. Clearly seen is a black PVD watch with the familiar bracelet pattern of the Porsche Design Orfina chronograph.

At the 1 minute 20 second mark, we see Cruise examining a plane and the watch is visible once again on his left wrist.

It’s been thirty-four years since the first movie was released, and for Tom Cruise to potentially be wearing the exact same timepiece in the new film is very cool, considering the watch gained the nickname “Top Gun”, after the first film. Top Gun: Maverick will be released on June 26, 2020.

This is interesting. Is this a paid placement by the manufacturer in the film? Is this Tom Cruises’ personal watch? Or are the prop guys on the Top Gun films just really thorough?

Generally, a paid product placement in a film is much more obvious. ……ahem John Wick Carl Bucherer….ahem….. But in Top Gun the watch wasn’t prevalent enough to be a paid placement. In 2020 I’d be surprised if they paid to have that watch featured. But what do I know, I’m just some idiot on the internet.

This is not a Lemania 5100 driven watch. Your description does not match the pictures.

To answer your question Tom, I don’t think the watch is paid placement and there is a likelihood it is Mr Cruise’s watch

Interesting indeed. So, after 34 years, the movie character still owns and wears the exact same watch? Will he still be riding the same Kawasaki GPZ900R and dating the same gal?

Definitely not dating same gal. Have you seen what 34 years does to that chick. Maverick is a guy that has a girl 34 years younger than him.

If it’s the same watch that’s pretty cool. If it’s the same watch and his own one then even better , it shows he takes care of his timepieces. There is a nice chopard showcased in 6 underground through paid placement though

Porsche Design P’6540 Heritage Chronograph

👋 the watch worn by Tom Cruise in Top Gun film (1986) is an Orfina Porsche Design with Valjoux 7750 movement.

Strap is correct for the Lemania 5100 PD Orfina, Can’t see the face but I own 3H military version. If this is in the 2020 movie that will be beautiful.

Very cool touch if in fact he is wearing the same watch, or perhaps even a newer version of the model. It’s not uncommon for military members to remain loyal and have a certain level of comfort and familiarity with a certain product/tool, etc. For most of my 20 year military career I wore a Timex expedition and would occasionally replace one with only another expedition. Now, what would be an even better touch and put me completely over the top is if in addition to the new H2 he now rides, he still has that beautiful GPz900R in the garage as well.

Maybe the black Dan Henry 1972 !?

The watch Maverick was wearing in Top Gun does NOT have the Lemania 5100 movement. In the picture with Iceman it can clearly be seen, that the numbers on the little scale at the top of the watch face are NOT at the 0/3/6/9 o‘clock positions as they should. Instead they are at the 0/4/7 o‘clock positions. This corresponds to the version with the Valjoux 7750 movement which has a thirty minute scale in that position. No doubt about it 😉

Though the bracelets of both watches are the same type of NSA bracelet, the earlier one appears worn through the PVD in many areas while the latter watch appears new. And yes, it looks like the earlier watch has the 7750 movement.

Remember that PD switched to the Lemania 5100 (in -78 or -79 ?) so that it could be sold to militaries as it is one of the best shock proof calibers. “the 5100 is one of the only chronograph movements where shock has very little effect on the chronograph second hand’s movement. Most chronograph mechanisms utilize an intermediary wheel to drive the chronograph second hand, which is susceptible to stopping when exposed to shock. The 5100 forewent that design, opting for a direct drive system, a move that made it virtually impervious to shock-induced stoppage, aside from cases of extreme shock. For many years, the German military found the 5100 to be the only acceptable movement for its purposes, largely due to the outstanding shock resistance.” The story goes that Tom Cruise wanted to wear the same watch as the real Top Gun pilots and bought the PD watch himself :). Maybe he got an early version with the Valjoux 7750 by mistake ? The real military/Pilots watch is the never version with the Lemania 5100 inside.

In the original Top Gun, Maverick can be seen wearing a Rolex Submariner at about 00:10:55 into the film. He is ignoring the order to land, going back to help Merlin. His hand is in the cockpit, operating the throttle (notable error: he’s pulling power back to idle when he should be firewalling it for a go-around). Anyway, the watch is clearly a Submariner (or a close homage.)

As the frontman and action hero in all the movies, Tom Cruise is synonymous with Mission Impossible. And he seems to want to always make another one!

And who can blame him, it looks like a lot of fun, especially when you come to realize he does all his own stunts – and even broke his foot jumping between buildings in Mission Impossible 6 in London a few years ago!

And if you pay close attention during the action-packed series of the Mission Impossible franchise, you may notice that in many of the first movies Tom Cruise wore a few different Casio watches.

It is not always easy to tell which ones, but with a little investigation, I have collected all the Casio G-Shocks that Tom Cruise wore in Mission Impossible below.

Casio G-Shock MTG-910D in Mission Impossible III (2006)

The Casio G-Shock MTG-910D is a rare beast indeed. It is almost impossible to find on eBay , Amazon, or any other watch site. So, if you can find this elusive Mi3 Casio watch, grab it, and fast!

In many ways, it is not the most spectacular of Casio G-Shocks, but given it is meant to be worn by Ethan Hunt as he throws himself from one death-defying situation to another, that is not a surprise.

It comes with 200m water resistance and shock resistance, as we all expect from G-Shock. It also has Tough Solar because Tom has no time to swap batteries. And Wave Receptor tech to synchronize the time no matter what time zone he is in!

Casio G-Shock DW-6900 in Mission Impossible 2 (2000)

The Casio G-Shock DW6900-1V is a classic that has been around for over 25 years. So, it is nice to see it featured on the wrist of Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 2. It is certainly a watch that can withstand a lot and has sold well all around the globe.

There are no frills on this watch, apart from a few colored pieces of text on the otherwise all-black Casio. It has 200m water resistance and shock resistance and all the standard digital bells and whistles you know and love.

But nothing more. No Tough Solar, no Atomic timekeeping, and no Triple Sensor. However, if you are like me, they are unnecessary in daily life anyway!

Casio G-Shock DW-290-1V in Mission Impossible (1996)

This is quite a uniquely shaped watch from Casio that is rare just in terms of style. However, despite its fame from the original Mission Impossible (and the former director of the FBI), it is still available on Amazon !

Like all of the Casio G-Shocks in this list, it has everything you would expect, and nothing more. Shock Resistance, 200m water resistance, and the usual suspects of digital features – alarm, stopwatch, etc.

But for me, it is the triangular corners on each side that are the killer feature. It is just so Casio, without being anything like any other G-Shock. And weighing in at under $50, it is a bargain to boot!

• In 2005, Tom Cruise criticized Brooke Shields' use of antidepressants for postpartum depression.
• At the 2024 PHM HealthFront, Brooke Shields said his comments "backfired."
• She said the controversy brought more mainstream awareness around postpartum and mental health.

In one of the most controversial moments of Tom Cruise's career , the actor criticized Brooke Shields for talking about her use of antidepressants to treat postpartum depression.

Almost 20 years later, Shields says Cruise accidentally raised awareness around the issue and drove people to fight for better treatment.

In 2005, Shields had just published her memoir "Down Came the Rain," in which she described taking Paxil, an SSRI, after the birth of her first daughter, Rowan . "I was deadened, and it terrified me because I wanted to have a baby so badly," Shields, 58, said on Wednesday at the 2024 PHM HealthFront, a two-day event for healthcare marketers and health media. "I went through IVF seven times, and so the journey was such a fraught one."

Cruise initially called Brooke Shields "irresponsible" for using antidepressants in a 2005 "Access Hollywood" interview . When he was asked to elaborate on these comments in a 2005 interview on "The Today Show," Cruise told Matt Lauer that "psychiatry is a pseudo-science" and that "drugs aren't the answer."

Promoting Scientology, Cruise opposed taking any "mind-altering antipsychotic drugs," as it goes against the religion .

He slammed Shields for spreading "misinformation" and said "she doesn't understand the history of psychiatry" when it came to using medication.

Shields said Cruise's comments angered a lot of women

Looking back on the incident, Shields said that Cruise's comments ended up helping the cause.

"You gave women in particular — they were so angry — you gave them a reason to fight for something they didn't even know they wanted to fight for," Shields said at PHM, noting that women weren't just sticking up for her but also for themselves.

"So it actually, ironically, helped the platform because everybody was talking about it," Shields said. "It sort of backfired. Way to put it into pop culture."

Cruise later apologized to Shields

A year after his comments, Shields said, Cruise delivered a "heartfelt" apology to Shields at her house and even mailed her an annual Christmas cake for many years.

Nearly 20 years later, the conversations around postpartum and depression treatments have changed dramatically. Shields is far from the only celebrity to be open about her PPD , though she played a crucial role in advocating for more awareness around the condition.

In 2007, she testified in Congress for a bill that would require postpartum pre-screening for new mothers.

"I'm not an expert," Shields said at PHM. "I'm just a woman who's gone through that and wanted to help other women get the help that they deserve."

Watching Movies Tom Cruise Wears A Wacky TAG Heuer In 'Jerry Maguire'

In the 1990s, Tom Cruise was a mega movie star – even bigger than he is now. In 1996 alone, he starred in the first Mission Impossible blockbuster (a franchise that's still going strong) and today's film of choice, Jerry Maguire . Not a bad year. The film follows the eponymous Maguire, a sports agent whose life gets turned upside down after getting fired from his agency, leaving him with only one client – pro football player Rod Tidwell (played by Cuba Gooding Jr.). In the midst of all that, Maguire falls in love with his only employee, Dorothy Boyd (played by Renée Zellweger). This is a sports movie, but also a romantic comedy, but really it's one big game of Tag – as in TAG Heuer.

The 2020 Olympics closing ceremonies are this weekend, but the Olympics weren't the only sporting event on right now. Between the Major League Baseball trade deadline, NBA free agency (Russ to the Lakers!), and the NFL training camps starting up, it's an athletic frenzy across the board. And where there are elite athletes, there are agents. A sports agent is responsible for negotiating on an athlete's behalf when it comes to contracts, in addition to being their representative in all areas inside and outside the sport (commercials, movies, endorsements, etc). There's no better sports-agent film than Jerry Maguire . And it happens to be a great watch movie, too.

Directed by Cameron Crowe, who captured the 1970s in Almost Famous and the 1980s in Fast Times at Ridgemont High , this 1990s classic nails the decade's fashion, music, and watches. There's really no watch brand that embodies the '90s more than TAG Heuer (which would explain why Leonardo DiCaprio's Jordan Belfort wears it in The Wolf of Wall Stree t ). Or why Brad Pitt wears one in Moneyball . In Jerry Maguire , it feels as if the entire cast is outfitted in them. I'd like to think that when the prop master approached Crowe, he stopped her mid-sentence and said "You had me at Heuer."

Maguire's watch is TAG Heuer S/el Quartz Chronograph, an analog/digital watch which – if it could talk – would be screaming "look at me! I'm from 1996!" Signature dial elements include an extremely busy three-register layout, 4:30 date window, and the colorful brand logo. And that's just the beginning. Rounding out the design are L-shaped end links on a black leather strap, plus lugs that swoop like a circus performer's mustache.

Gooding wears a decidedly tamer two-tone TAG Heuer Professional 200m. Zellweger completes the party with what appears to be a stainless steel Professional Quartz model with a plastic bezel. It's hard to get a clean look at her watch in the film, so if anyone has a better eye for it, let me know in the comments.

In the film's first act, as Maguire's entire career spectacularly unravels in a single day [00:25:19], he raises his left hand to his face, showing off his loud and wild TAG S/el to the empty room. This is an important moment because it comes just before his next phone call – to Tidwell – where we get the "Show me the money!" line that became an instant catchphrase and national phenomenon.

Shifting focus to the final act [01:46:41], we find the main characters on a double date in a seafood restaurant smashing crabs with a hammer. The purpose of this scene is to illustrate Maguire's inability to love unconditionally, and to push the plot forward and help his character grow into the "You complete me" version of himself. For our purposes, however, this scene is significant because it contains the only real watch closeup. That would be Tidwell's two-tone TAG Heuer Professional, which fills the frame just as his wife bludgeons a crab shell.

Katie holmes and tom cruise's daughter will soon turn 18.

Suri Cruise  may have blossomed into a confident young woman about to enter adulthood, but it doesn't seem that long ago that she was just a little girl.

As the daughter of Katie Holmes  and Tom Cruise , Suri was thrust into the spotlight almost from birth - and this meant fans were given a front row seat to her childhood… warts and all. 

Now, viewers of the new Netflix movie, Scoop , have been reminded of one of Suri's headline-making moments.

The flick is based on the true events that led up to Prince Andrew’ s explosive 2019 BBC Newsnight interview.

The opening scene, however, focuses on British photographer, Jae Donnelly, who gets a phone call tipping him off to get a picture of Jeffery Epstein  and Andrew together in New York.

On the white board in his New York apartment there's a list of celebrities, their whereabouts  and actions, and top of that list is "Suri Cruise tantrum" and a note suggesting the photos would appear in Intouch magazine. 

In real life, Jae took the infamous images of Suri losing her temper in FAO Schwartz with her mom trying to calm her down. 

Suri wore a pink dress and gold tiara, and looked enraged as tears rolled down her face and Katie knelt patiently by her side. 

They later emerged from the store looking calm and collected with Suri being treated to a lollipop and some toys.

She paints a very different picture today, as she is often spotted out and about in New York with her mom or friends, acting like a regular teen. 

Most recently, the 17-year-old was snapped with beautiful long hair, as she headed off for her last vacation with Katie before her 18th birthday on April 18,

The mother-daughter duo were pictured getting into a car with their luggage as they headed off for the Easter weekend. 

Katie is exceptionally private about her daughter, and has not revealed whether or not she will go to college.

While she's close to her mom,  Suri is reportedly estranged from her famous father.

  It appears she's inherited her parents' passion for the entertainment industry, however, and showcased her incredible singing voice in 2022 when she sang the opening credits of Katie's film, Alone Together, when she was just 15. 

Chatting to Yahoo! Entertainment about her daughter's role in the movie, Katie said: "She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing. "That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want - go do your thing'."

Tom Cruise Seen Sprinting Down Street in London as He Shoots Next Mission: Impossible Movie

The eighth 'Mission: Impossible' film, which does not yet have a title, is expected in theaters May 23, 2025

Tom Cruise is showing no signs of slowing down in the next Mission: Impossible movie.

On Sunday, Cruise, 61, was seen sprinting down a street in London while filming a scene for the upcoming eighth film in his signature action franchise. The actor could be seen wearing a black suit with a white shirt opened at the top, with fake blood drenched over his chest while filming the sequence.

Cruise most recently appeared as his Mission: Impossible character Ethan Hunt in last year's Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning , which made $172 million at the  domestic box office . Dead Reckoning also earned the franchise its first-ever Academy Award nominations when it received nods for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound at the recent 96th Oscars ceremony.

A title for the upcoming eighth Mission: Impossible movie has not yet been announced. The next film was originally set for release on June 28, but production delays related to 2023's SAG-AFTRA strike forced the film to restart production in the fall and delay its release until May 23, 2025, as Deadline reported back in October.

Dead Reckoning left Cruise's character Ethan Hunt and series regulars Luther (Ving Rhames) and Benji (Simon Pegg) at odds with villain Gabriel (Esai Morales) and forging new alliances with characters like Grace (Hayley Atwell) over a battle for control over a sentient artificial intelligence.

The eighth Mission: Impossible film is just one movie among a number of projects Cruise has in development. In February, PEOPLE confirmed Cruise will star in the next movie from The Revenant filmmaker  Alejandro G. Iñárritu , while The Hollywood Reporter  reported in January that Paramount is developing Top Gun 3 as a sequel to Cruise's major 2022 success Top Gun: Maverick .

Cruise, known for his penchant for performing his own stunts, was recently seen climbing the iconic Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills on March 16 accompanied by a film crew. A representative for Cruise did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment Monday. While it's unclear what Cruise was filming on Saturday, the stunt did not appear related to the next Mission: Impossible film.

Mission: Impossible 8 is expected in theaters May 23, 2025.

The story of Saturday Night Live is already coming to the big screen soon with SNL 1975 , and now a new project is in the works that will tell the tale of one of the show's biggest stars. A biopic of Chris Farley, the famed SNL comedian who became an icon of 1990s film and television, is in development, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Josh Gad is in talks to direct the project, which will star Paul Walter Hauser in the role of Farley.

The film will tell the tragic story of Farley, who joined SNL in 1990 and quickly became a rising star. With his characters such as the Lunch Lady, the Chippendales dancer, and motivational speaker Matt Foley , Farley quickly became the show's marquee star alongside other SNL players of the day like Adam Sandler , Chris Rock and David Spade. He went onto star in films such as Tommy Boy and Airheads, and originally voiced the title role in Shrek before being replaced by Mike Myers . After struggling with substance abuse for much of his life, Farley passed away from an accidental drug overdose in 1997 at the age of 33. He is still remembered as one of the greatest performers in SNL history.

The biopic will be based on The Chris Farley Show: A Biography In Three Acts, the New York Times-bestselling book by Tanner Colby and Tom Farley Jr, Farley's brother. The screenplay, adapted from the book, will be written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Lorne Michaels , the creator and producer of SNL, will produce the Farley biopic through his Broadway Video banner. The project is currently being pitched to studios around Hollywood.

Gad and Hauser are a Big Team-Up

The directing of a biopic is a new endeavor for Gad, who starred in the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon before achieving worldwide fame voicing the snowman Olaf in Disney's Frozen franchise. Since then, Gad has starred in numerous other high-profile films, including Murder on the Orient Express, Beauty and the Beast , and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. He most recently voiced the dog Gus in the R-rated comedy Strays .

For Hauser, the role of Farley seems destined, as he told THR in 2021 that he had a desire to portray the comedian and had even talked to Farley's family about the idea. Hauser is best known for his roles in the films I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman, and Richard Jewell. The latter is considered Hauser's breakout performance, for which he received critical acclaim. Since then, he has gone onto star in the Apple TV+ miniseries Black Bird alongside Taron Egerton, for which he also recieved critical praise and won a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award. He will voice Embarassment in the upcoming film Inside Out 2 .
