Is Taylor Swift’s VIP Eras Tour Package Worth It? A Breakdown

The most expensive package is $899 — before tax and fees!

Raise your hand if you also blacked out while trying to get tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras tour , because it was a trying time for every Swiftie out there. Not only was Ticketmaster’s virtual queue a mess, but once you finally got through it, you were also faced with one of the most stressful steps of the process: trying to actually secure your ticket. With tickets being snatched up left and right, you may have just bought whatever was available at the time. If that was a VIP ticket, you might be wondering now, is Taylor Swift’s VIP Eras tour package worth it? Let’s break it down.

First of all, VIP packages are nothing new for a Taylor Swift tour. For many artists, VIP packages include a meet and greet and merch, along with some of the best seats in the venue for the show. However, fans know that Swift is one of the few artists who doesn’t offer paid meet and greets . Since meeting Swift is not part of the package, it’s fair to wonder what could be worth hundreds of dollars — which is how much these VIP packages go for.

I was lucky enough to receive a VIP package to Swift’s Reputation tour for Christmas in 2017. Since it was a present, I didn’t personally spend the money on the package, but my sister made it very clear she didn’t think it was worth the splurge. Now that the Eras tour VIP packages are starting to arrive in the mail, Swifties are on the fence about whether they’re worth their price as well. If you had to determine if they fall under the cop or drop category, some may lean towards drop and regret. However, Jordan Walker ( @fairytaleswift ) — who was at one of the Glendale Eras Tour shows — told Elite Daily it was “so worth it.”

How Much Are Taylor Swift VIP Tickets For The Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift performing at a concert, which has Taylor Swift VIP tickets.

Before you can even consider whether or not Taylor Swift VIP tickets are worth it for you, it helps to determine if they’re even in your budget. According to Variety , the VIP packages for The Eras Tour range from $199 to $899. Here is a breakdown of each Eras Tour VIP tier and its price:

  • “It's A Love Story Package” — $199
  • “...ready for it Package” — $449
  • “I Remember It All Too Well Package” — $559
  • “Karma Is My Boyfriend Package” — $749
  • “It's Been A Long Time Coming Package” — $899

That’s actually not that bad compared to the Reputation tour. For that, Ticket Crusader reports that VIP packages ranged from $495 to $895 and my sister and I had the $495 tickets — aka the “Kingdom Keys Package.” Walker ended up getting the second-highest “Karma Is My Boyfriend Package” for both her and her mom.

Seats & Merch For Taylor Swift VIP Packages For The Eras Tour

A Swiftie unboxes the Taylor Swift Eras Tour VIP packages.

All Eras Tour VIP packages get the same exact merch whether you’re paying $199 or $899. Let’s compare what I got for the Reputation tour versus what’s in the Eras Tour merch package. I received the following:

  • A seat in the lower bowl section of the stadium
  • A collectible box with an exclusive video message from Swift built in
  • A Reputation book with exclusive photos and poetry from Swift
  • An LED VIP tour laminate to wear to the show
  • A commemorative ticket with a display case
  • A reputation stadium tour patch
  • A copy of the Reputation CD

The Eras Tour merch includes:

  • A reserved seat
  • A special edition set of four Swift prints, and each set “contains a hand-numbered print designed specifically for your show and city”
  • A commemorative Eras Tour VIP tote bag
  • A collectible Taylor Swift pin
  • A collectible Taylor Swift sticker
  • A collectible Taylor Swift postcard set
  • A souvenir concert ticket

Comparing the two tours, the merch inside each box is pretty much the same. Similar to the three Reputation tour packages, the only thing that separates the five different Eras Tour tiers is where your seat is located. The two most expensive packages — Karma Is My Boyfriend Package and It's Been A Long Time Coming Package — are on the floor and come with additional perks. Those, according to Walker, were “separate merch stands, along with early entrance, and access to seats a bit before non-VIP.” The VIP merch booths were supposed to be crowd-free, but Walker told Elite Daily the lines were still long and she had to wait about 40 minutes in total. That includes going to different merch stands to find items that were sold out at others.

Another VIP Swiftie with floor seats, Izzy Mendoza ( @izzy618 ), told Elite Daily they only had to wait about 20-30 minutes. While there is no exclusive VIP merch at these special booths, you may be able to avoid extremely long lines by going to them instead of the general ones. That may make the price of the ticket worth it if saving some time before the show is important to you.

You just have to justify whether spending close to $1000 per ticket, which is around what the floor tickets cost with all of Ticketmaster’s fees and taxes, is reasonable for shorter lines. Since I’m someone who just recently realized there was a Reputation book at the bottom of my VIP package box , I’m clearly in it for the seats rather than the merch.

What’s The View From VIP Taylor Swift Tickets?

You would expect the Eras Tour VIP package seats to be some of the best in the house, but where you’re located — especially on the floor — can make a huge difference. For anyone who is VIP with floor tickets, you better hope you’re not standing behind someone taller than you. Something you also don’t think about until you’re there is that everyone is trying to capture the best video to post on TikTok. “Always remind yourself that people love to put their phone up high to record,” Mendoza warned.

Hats are another thing you don’t expect to have to deal with, but remember a lot of people are going to use the Eras Tour as a chance to dress like they just got invited to the Met Gala. As much as you’ll love seeing someone dressed up as a willow tree before the show, sitting behind them won’t be as pleasant.

Both Walker and Mendoza mentioned there were parts of the show they couldn’t see from the floor. Walker didn’t mind, though, and shared that Swift “was so close most of the night.” When she wasn’t, the screens in the stadium allowed them to see everything else.

TikToker @bickybui also mentioned not being able to see the cool lighting and effects that happen on the stage from the floor, which can only be seen from above. Mendoza said that while this was their second time on the floor, sitting on the first tier of the stadium is better if you want to “see every detail of the show.” The Eras Tour has some intricate sets you may have to watch back on TikTok later if you can’t see them IRL.

Are Taylor Swift’s VIP Eras Tour Packages Worth It?

A Swiftie opens one of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour VIP boxes, which some fans think is not worth it.

Ultimately, I don’t think anyone should have to spend close to $1000 to see a concert. The idea of collectible merch is exciting, but as some fans have pointed out, the Eras VIP merch is nothing to write home about. TikToker @louissuspenders was the first to share the Eras tour VIP package on TikTok, which many fans were disappointed in seeing. It looks like everything mentioned was included, like the pin, postcards, prints, and tote bag. However, the box itself doesn’t appear to be as high quality as previous ones.

When asked if she thought the VIP merch was worth the $900 price tag, Walker said, “Not necessarily, but I love what was sent.” Putting things into perspective, Walker revealed that it was her first experience with the package, saying, “I was happy to get the chance to even be VIP.”

Walker, who had the second most expensive package, said, “I truly think it was so worth it. It was an incredible experience. She did a phenomenal job.” The overall VIP ticket was worth it for both Swifties. According to Mendoza, VIP is something that every Swiftie should be able to experience at least once.

Jordan Walker shares whether she thinks Taylor Swift's VIP Eras tour package is worth the $899 price...

I have to agree that being a VIP for one of Swift’s shows is something every fan should try to check off their Taylor Swift bucket list — if they can. The “if you can” is important. It’s possible to have just as much fun and see more from nosebleed seats that are within your budget as well. Considering Ticketmaster canceled the public sale to Swift’s Eras tour , just having something should be celebrated.

Even from my seat in the last row at SoFi Stadium, I’m going to have the best time shaking it off and cry-singing to “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” as if I’m in the front row. And for anyone who is actually in the front row and managed to snag some VIP tickets, I — and probably many other Swifties — will be watching your concert footage on TikTok after the show.

Taylor Swift just wrapped up seven performances of the Eras Tour in Australia, splitting the shows between Melbourne and Sydney. On the fourth and final night of shows in Sydney, one TikTok user (@jess_mac17) got video of a truly heartwarming moment between Swift’s dad, Scott , and one family of Swifties.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Attracted Many Celebrities, But Not All Of Them Got VIP Treatment

Taylor Swift's tour has had Swifties and celebrities in attendance. Some celebs got the golden ticket to the VIP Tent, but others were not so lucky.

  • Taylor Swift welcomed many celebrities into her VIP tent during the Eras tour, but not everyone made the cut.
  • Celebrities like Karlie Kloss, Meghan Markle, Sydney Sweeney, and Machine Gun Kelly had box seats or even general admission tickets to Eras.
  • Taylor Swift may not have had bad blood with all the celebs who didn't make it into the VIP tent.

Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour has been one of the hottest events to get tickets to before the concerts even began. Those who are fans of the woman with a $1+ billion net worth knew how difficult it was to secure a ticket, especially with the scandal from Ticketmaster who sold the tickets for the Eras Tour , making it even harder still to get a seat.

Add in the prices that after-market ticket brokers were charging for tickets, which in some cases turned out to be fraudulent tickets for the Eras Tour , it seemed like a near-impossible feat to be one of the lucky few to see Swift live in concert.

Taylor Swift's Diet And Training For The Eras Tour Wasn't Perfect, According To A Fitness Expert

Even celebrities were not immune to issues with tickets. However, their situation was slightly different. This is because there were a select number of celebrities who were allowed in the VIP tent for the evening. Despite Taylor Swift's Eras Tour attracting many celebrities, not all of them got VIP treatment. Those who wanted to see Swift in action either had to pay for a box seat or, for some, sit among the fans.

Here are those fans whose status was not enough to warrant VIP.

Karlie Kloss Didn't Have A VIP Ticket To Eras

Karlie kloss sat in the upper portion of the stadium with fans.

Karlie Kloss and Swift met after Swift performed at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The two got along well and became fast friends.

In the months that followed after their friendship began, Kloss became part of Swift's squad, which also included Gigi Hadid , Selena Gomez , Martha Hunt, and more. Kloss even appeared in Swift's "Bad Blood" video. It looked like there was nothing that could come between the two friends.

Karlie Kloss on the red carpet

While Kloss and Swift have never publicly spoken about their friendship, or lack of it, many speculate that it began to strain after Kloss went on a vacation with Scooter Braun at the height of the feud with Swift over purchasing her master tracks. Some fans even believe that the song, "It's Time to Go" is about Kloss.

If there is a rift between the two, it would make sense that Kloss would not have been invited to the VIP Tent for the Eras Tour. However, not only was Kloss not invited to the tent, she sat in the stands with fans for the three-and-a-half-hour event.

Meghan Markle Sat In Stadium Seating Instead Of A VIP Slot

Meghan markle sat in the stadium seats rather than in the vip tent.

Meghan Markle and friends attended the Eras Tour. However, they were not spotted by fans in the VIP area or even in a box seat. Instead, Markle and her friends sat among the plebian Swifties and sang along to the songs.

Meghan Markle flashing a big smile

It is unclear what the relationship between Markle and Swift is. The duchess reached out to Swift to have her appear on Markle's now-defunct podcast , Archietypes. According to sources, Markle not only had Swift's people contacted but wrote a "handwritten letter" to the Midnights singer as well.

Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift

Unfortunately, Swift's schedule would not allow her to appear on the podcast, which would have been a coup for Markle. However, it does not appear to have soured how Markle feels about Swift, given her appearance at the concert.

Sydney Sweeney Skipped The VIP Treatment, Too

Sydney sweeney sat in box seats at the eras tour.

While Sydney Sweeney and Swift may not be friends, many have compared the two and like to draw parallels to how similar Sweeney and Swift are. The most popular similarity that is commented on is how down-to-earth they both are. With the throng of celebrities who came out for the Eras Tour, it was not surprising for Sweeney to appear.

Sydney Sweeney, Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Clearly a fan of Swift's music, Sweeney posted pictures and videos from her night at the final performance at SoFi Stadium. From her box seat, Sweeney danced and sang along with friends , looking like she had an amazing time.

While she was in the VIP Tent, it did not appear to have phased Sweeney one bit, who captioned her Instagram carousel of pictures, "Had the time of my life."

Machine Gun Kelly Might Have Bought His Own Eras Tour Ticket

Machine gun kelly sat in box seats at the eras tour.

One celebrity that some were surprised to see at the Eras Tour was Machine Gun Kelly. However, this should not be that astounding, given that it appears that Swift and Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox are friendly with one another.

Machine Gun Kelly attends event

This was proven at the Super Bowl after party where pictures were taken of Swift, Travis Kelce, Fox, and MGK chatting and hanging out with each other. When this friendship began is unclear. But the conversation was more than just passing, proving there is some sort of history there.

It is not clear if Megan Fox attended the Eras Tour. While she was not spotted in videos or pictures fans took of Machine Gun Kelly while he attended a SoFi Stadium show, that does not mean Fox was not in attendance. However, if she was, she was enjoying the view with Machine Gun Kelly from a box seat rather than from the VIP Tent.

Even Karlie Kloss Can’t Get Good Eras Tickets

Portrait of Danielle Cohen

As Taylor Swift wraps up the first leg of her Eras Tour , one thing has become clear: The only people not required to sell their souls for a decent ticket are members of her infamous squad . Now that she is yet again single and on tour , the updated squad is dutifully serving its vital role of seeing and being seen in Swift’s all-important VIP tent. Phoebe Bridgers made out with Bo Burnham while Keith Urban took a selfie ; Gigi Hadid had to hang out with Swift’s controversial rebound Matty Healy ; and longtime squad member Lena Dunham got a special song dedicated to her . Other Swiftie celebrities — including Channing Tatum , Gayle King, and Selena Gomez — have been seen lip-syncing and throwing up heart signs near the stage.

However, one formerly prominent bestie has been noticeably absent, both from the VIP area and Swift’s recent pap walks — so absent that when she did finally show up to an Eras show, she sat in (gasp) general population. Karlie Kloss , formerly a famous close friend of Swift’s and presently an in-law of Ivanka Trump’s , was seen hanging out in the audience of SoFi Stadium during the last of Swift’s L.A. shows, like a non-Swift-associated peasant. What the hell is up?

Kloss, a fellow long-legged “It” girl of the early 2010s, has been a Swift concert staple since 2013, when they appeared onstage together at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show . Over the next five years, they hugged, kissed, and danced at various music festivals, Fourth of July parties , and of course, in the “ Bad Blood” music video . But around 2017, rumors of a falling out started circulating, bolstered largely by perceived subtweets and far-out interpretations of Swift’s shady lyrics.

Despite Kloss’s repeated but vague assurances that she and Swift are still friends, some concrete evidence does suggest otherwise: Swift was not at either of Kloss’s weddings to Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared , the second of which included both Katy Perry (a since-reconciled nemesis of Swift’s) and Swift’s sworn enemy, Scooter Braun , as guests. A few months later, Kloss popped up on Braun’s Instagram , hanging out with him and some friends on a yacht. Though the contents of their text messages and private jets are unknown, Swift and Kloss haven’t been seen together publicly since 2018 — though Kloss did appear in the audience during the Reputation tour, that time much closer to the stage. As is often the case in the universe of Swift fandom, Kloss’s nosebleed seating could mean everything or nothing. Maybe we will have to wait until 1989 (Taylor’s Version) to find out which it is.

It's the Summer of the Status Concert

Forget the latest 'it' bag: A snap from Taylor Swift's Eras Tour or Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour is guaranteed to make your friends jealous as they scroll your social media feed.

It felt like I had won the lottery. I couldn't stop talking about it. After hours of waiting in a virtual queue, anxiously watching the numbers tick down and ignoring my work for this very magazine, I managed to snag six tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour on her third night at MetLife Stadium. The odds of even getting to this part of the purchasing process were slim: Just around 40% the people who registered for the presale were granted the privilege of trying to buy tickets. The whole experience, though stressful, felt like a stroke of luck.

When Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour presale launched months later, I felt confident. I was lucky with Taylor. I can do this again, I thought. But sadly, my good fortune ran out. Now I'm at the mercy of the resale market, hoping prices and demand won't remain outrageous the closer we get to her New York stop. (It's not looking good.)

Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have much in common—they're both millennial superstars with global reach and highly dedicated fanbases. (Do not mess with the Beyhive, or the Swifties.) Indeed, the way in which they connect with their fans, coupled with the post-pandemic need to experience music live, in-person, and alongside thousands of other people, help to illustrate why these concerts are a once-in-a-lifetime moment for many—and have become the kind of tickets that people are willing to shell out excessive amounts of money for. People are even willing to hop on an international flight to attend the shows. (Seeing these tours outside of one's hometown is not uncommon.) As of the writing of this story, the cheapest tickets for the first night of Swift's stop in Denver this upcoming weekend are still over $1,000 a seat—and they're in the nosebleeds.

"I'm not big on concerts," Whitney Madueke , a beauty blogger who recently flew to London to see Beyoncé, says. "It’s honestly not my vibe, for the most part—but life is all about memories, and it being Beyonce, I knew I would be guaranteed a great time and a memory worth a lifetime." In one of her TikToks from the evening , she wrote, "money comes and goes but the memories live forever." As she further explains to T&C , "The pandemic showed me how much everything can change overnight. Who knows where I’ll be for the next Beyoncé tour?"

Similarly, Ginnie Low, who runs the popular SwiftTok account @TheThriftySwiftie, was excited to finally have the means to see Swift in concert. "I missed the 1989 tour and the Reputation tour because I couldn't afford tickets," Low tells Town & Country . "That was really sad for me. Something really cool about attending the Eras Tour is getting a little piece of every tour she's done in the past." Low has now been to the Eras Tour four times, including a last-minute decision to fly to Glendale for opening night.

Influencer Jae Gurley , who has nearly 2 million followers on TikTok, flew to Paris from New York for the Renaissance Tour. Like Low, this was the first Beyoncé show where they had "any sort of disposable income" to even try to get a ticket. Seeing this tour was especially meaningful, Gurley tells T&C , as it felt "like a love letter to Black queer youth and to all of her Black queer fans."

Swift and Beyoncé are hardly the only artists touring this summer in the U.S.—Ed Sheeran, The Chicks, the Jonas Brothers, and others are playing across the country—but this season's record-breaking live music numbers can be largely credited to the Eras and Renaissance tours. To see these superstars, fans are traveling thousands of miles; meticulously planning their outfits for weeks, if not months before the date; and spending hours scrolling through existing videos of the show to better prepare.

Both musicians are "seeing a remarkable increase in global demand on StubHub, compared to their previous stadium tours in 2018," Adam Budelli, a spokesperson for StubHub, said. According to the ticket resale site, the Eras Tour's summer dates have already tripled the final sales of the summer dates for Swift's 2018 Reputation Tour, and the Renaissance Tour summer dates are seeing a 120% increase in sales compared to the final sales of the similar dates of Beyoncé's On the Run II Tour with Jay Z in 2018. Ticketmaster, the official platform for Swift and Beyoncé's world tours, is on track for the biggest year of live music in the history of the company. In Q1 alone, the site sold 145 million tickets, up 30% from last year, according to a spokesperson.

Seeing these performances is an investment in community for fans, Dr. Riché Richardson , a professor of African American literature at Cornell University who teaches a course on Beyoncé , explains. "This is such a rarified experience, because it's not accessible or available to everyone," she tells Town & Country. "It's fascinating that it also has the potential to bring people together."

Rarified, but full of community: How can Beyoncé and Swift pull that off? For one, the exclusive experience is part of the allure; fans feel like they are a part of something special. The celebrities in attendance help, too. Fan accounts breathlessly document which famous faces are in attendance each night—like how Megan Thee Stallion, Kylie Jenner, and Selena Gomez were all at the Renaissance World Tour in Paris, and Natalie Portman, Priyanka Chopra, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh, Salma Hayek, and more were spotted at the shows in London.

In fact, for both tours, the A-Listers sit in spots not accessible to the general public. At the Renaissance Tour, Gurley says, the high profile attendees are in "seats not on the radar" of most fans. At the Eras Tour, celebs are in a VIP tent on the floor, where the likes of Blake Lively, Reese Witherspoon, Ben Stiller, and Jennifer Garner have been spotted . Lola Tung, the star of The Summer I Turned Pretty who recently attended in the VIP tent, told Town & Country, "I was living it up for sure" at the Eras Tour.

The proliferation of people live-streaming the tours also makes fans clamor to be there in person, inspiring immense fomo (fear of missing out) in those who do not get to attend in real life. "That wasn't a thing before, where you could watch an entire concert start to finish on a live stream," Low says. After you watch enough clips, you, too, want to experience it for yourself. "In some ways, it is driving a little bit of fatigue where by the time you go to your show, you potentially could have seen the show 10 or 15 times already,” she adds, explaining that the wide accessibility of videos "has led to an increased fixation on the one part of the show that's different every night," like the two acoustic "surprise songs" in the Eras Tour set, or Beyoncé's daughter, Blue Ivy, joining dancers at select performances.

Watching videos, and scrolling through previous shows, makes attendees want to post their own experience—not to go viral, necessarily, but to prove that they were there as a sort-of social media currency and to perhaps get noticed by the artists themselves.

On TikTok, Low says Swift "is out there engaging with her fans' content. For many people, that's a big reason to be on the platform and to feel connected to someone that inspires you so much." For fans, knowing that their idol could see their video about an outfit or friendship bracelet or their experience at the show, it makes them want to post it more.

And when she does see your video, it makes it all the more special. Bri Dietz , a self-described "mom content creator," surprised her 9-year-old daughter with tickets to the Eras Tour. "It was like Christmas morning," Dietz tells Town & Country . In the clip, which has more than 8 million views, Dietz tells her daughter that she isn't going to school today because they’re going to see Swift. She filmed it, posted it , and then they were so busy all day she didn't check her notifications until they were sitting in their seats in Las Vegas.

"We got there early, we're sitting there, and I went back on my TikTok right before the concert," she recalls. "Everyone was [commenting] 'Taylor Allison Swift liked your video!' We lost our minds at that. I was like, oh my gosh, she knows we're here!" Yet, Dietz made a point to put her phone away for most of the night, only recording her daughter’s reaction to Swift coming on stage (that video, too, went viral).

Swift and Beyoncé have the ability to make their legions of fans feel seen—a rare feat. Are these superstars really scrolling on their social media? Perhaps. Ahead of the concert, Gurley was photographed by Beyoncé's team, and later appeared on Beyoncé's website . "She loves her website. So I [thought], she has to have seen it because she's very meticulous about that." Gurley didn't dress with the intention of catching Beyoncé's eye, though that was a major win. "I wanted to look fab because I was gonna get my own content!" They had started planning their Renaissance World Tour outfit almost immediately after purchasing tickets, scrolling social media and building a mood board. They ended up wearing a silver Mugler bodysuit , explaining, "I felt like channeling the alien part of the show—[Beyoncé] is trying to lean more into afrofuturism, in terms of fashion. She's taking us forward."

jae beyonce tiktok

Planning a special concert outfit adds to the excitement surrounding the event. Katherine Zaino , a recent high school graduate who went to three Eras shows, went viral documenting her experience to her hundreds of thousand TikTok followers. "When I first got tickets, I was thinking about what I was gonna wear," Zaino tells T&C . "It just adds extra anticipation and makes the show even more fun; it makes you way more excited to plan and curate this whole outfit." She went all out, including recreating the dress Swift wore when she took home the Grammy for Album of the Year for folklore .

katherine tiktok

Social media's current fixation on both tours is only increasing the demand for tickets. Dietz purchased face value tickets to sit in the nosebleeds from "a distant friend's cousin's sister," something she doesn’t think would be possible now. "We were so lucky that we got them before the concert started blowing up," she says. Ana Osorno, Town & Country ’s social media manager, had hoped to go when Swift came to MetLife, but the resale prices never dropped.

This summer introduces a new "tree falls in a forest" dilemma: If you attend the Eras or Renaissance Tours, but didn't post about it, did you even really go? Maybe there are fans out there who are blissfully social media free, just enjoying the moment. (If that's you, major kudos.) But more and more, experiencing these shows—these incredible, awe-inspiring spectaculars by two of the greatest artists of our generation—is also about proving you were there.

To be sure, for most fans, the social media posts are nowhere near the top 10 reasons to attend a performance—they're simply an added bonus. Seeing Swift and Beyoncé live is reason enough. Yet, the posts become essential as a way to confirm you were lucky enough to snag the hottest item of summer 2023: a ticket to these once-in-a-lifetime concerts.

The scale of these shows, with sold-out stadiums worldwide, would almost be unfathomable three years ago. But now, due to the wide availability of COVID-19 vaccinations and treatments, people are ready to get out of their homes and dance together. Low points to Swift's Midnights album as capturing the energy of the Eras Tour, specifically when she sings "by the way, I'm going out tonight" on "Bejeweled." She says, "It's what everyone is feeling, saying that to the world that shut down. Like, 'by the way, I finally get to go out. I'm finally doing something.'"

As Beyoncé noted when she released Renaissance , she wants her fans to "release the wiggle," explaining she created it as "a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom." Swift, too, wrote when she announced her first pandemic album folklore, "In isolation my imagination has run wild and this album is the result…picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history, and memory."

taylor swift beyonce concert

Their latest albums are, in essence, a response to the shut down world: A retreat into fantasy and joy. On tour, neither Beyoncé nor Swift deliberately ignore the collective grief of 2020, but rather choose to celebrate the joy of a reopened 2023. Swift ends the Eras Tour with "Karma," singing "Karma's a relaxing thought" as fireworks go off behind her and her dancers twirl clad in sparkling jackets. In a similar celebration, the Renaissance Tour ends with "Summer Renaissance." As Beyoncé flies over the crowd, she serenades, "It's so good, it's so good, it's so good, it's so good, it's so good."

This summer of concerts is so good, indeed—if you can get a ticket.

Everything to know about what's included in the Taylor Swift VIP package

By Ella Rayment-Ward | 3 months ago

Taylor Swift is bringing her Eras Tour Down Under in just a matter of weeks. But for VIP fans, the excitement has already kicked off.

For those who not only survived the great ticket war but were lucky enough to secure VIP deals, the packages have already started to arrive on fan's doorsteps.

TikTok has been filled with VIP package unboxings as fans show off their deluxe gifts.

Taylor Swift

But what is actually included in the all exclusive box and how much did it cost to secure the highly sought after package?

Here's everything you need to know about the Taylor Swift VIP package, including its re-sale value and and the one tiny detail that has left Australian fans outraged.

What is included in the Taylor Swift VIP package?

On top of stellar positioned seats, the Australian VIP package includes exclusive merchandise all contained within a box covered with the Eras Tour poster print.

All the VIP package options contain the same merch, the only difference in price depending on the reserve seating.

Inside the box, fans will be treated to a 'special' set of four different prints with the superstar's Eras Tour graphic on them.

The Taylor Swift VIP package.

As for the 'exclusive' merchandise, VIP ticketholders will take home a special canvas tote bag with a black and white Eras Tour poster on one side and "Taylor Swift The Eras Tour" written in block caps on the other.

The VIP package also includes a pin, sticker and postcard set, and a tour laminate with a matching Eras Tour lanyard.

But the last item in the box is one that has left Aussie fans upset over one tiny detail.

The VIP box comes with a special souvenir concert ticket that is a reflective design with the time and seat number both showing as Swift's well-known lucky number, 13.

While the general ticket has the venue as 'your favourite city', it is the date on the ticket that has Aussie fans scratching their heads.

The year on the Australian VIP ticket reads as 2023, despite the songstress' tour not making its way Down Under next month in 2024.

"Taylor Swift's Aussie tour VIP tickets goofed up – they say 2023 instead of 2024," someone Tweeted.

The tickets appear to reflect the US leg and South American leg tour dates from 2023 as the merch box contains the same items as the US VIP package.

"I paid a lot of money for my VIP seats and box. It sucked that we didn't get a city specific poster but it gets worse. We just get shoved with 2023's leftover keepsake tickets," one outraged fan wrote.

"Excited for Taylor Swift's Aussie tour in 2024 despite the VIP ticket date mix-up," another admitted.

How much does the VIP package cost?

While all VIP ticketholders will walk away with the same exclusive merch collection, some have spent a bit more to secure that top tier status.

The price of the package varies depending on what tier your seat is in.

The most affordable VIP deal is the We Never Go Out Of Style Package, valued at $349.90 for an E reserve seat.

The It's A Love Story Package gets fans a slightly closer D reserve seat for $399.90, while the Ready For It Package upgrades your ticket to B reserve for $599.90.

vip tent eras tour

To get an A reserve seat in the stands, plus exclusive merch, fans were able to purchase the I Remember It All Too Well Package for $749.90.

The next step up is an A reserve floor seat for $899.90 as part of the Karma Is My Boyfriend Package.

Finally, the most expensive VIP package deal Aussie fans could grab in the great Ticketek war was the It's Been A Long Time Coming Package for a staggering $1249.90.

How much is the re-sale value?

For many who bought the VIP packages, the ticket was enough to justify the pricy cost. But for a seat valued up to $1249.90, how much is the collectable box on its own worth?

Many fans are already reselling the VIP box online, with pricing ranging in the hundreds.

One VIP ticketholder has listed their band new unopened merch box from the Australian Eras Tour leg for a highest price of $525 on eBay .

Some fans on eBay have grouped their merch box in with other Taylor Swift products to increase the value and novelty.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour

One person has listed their VIP box to be sold with the official cup and popcorn bucket sold as part of The Eras Tour movie promotion in Hoyts cinemas for $300.

But with so many Eras Tour boxes listed on resale sites, the more exclusive, and thus expensive VIP merch packages, are from the singer's previous Reputation tour in 2017.

For a VIP merch box from Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour, fans are valuing the package as in the late hundreds, with prices as high as a thousand Australian dollars.

One fan in the United States is selling their VIP box set on eBay for a whopping $AU $1,024.19, excluding shipping costs.

Are there any additional perks for Taylor Swift's VIP packages?

According to US fans on Reddit, the Taylor Swift VIP package reportedly comes with early entry to the venue before the rest of the crowds.

The purpose of the early entry is to give VIP ticketholders the chance to purchase merch from the stadium before other fans.

The early entry deal will likely be the same for Australian fans.

READ MORE: Game of Thrones star's head-turning runway transformation

"You have early access to your venue for being VIP (for my show we could enter at 3:30 and get merch early)" one fan revealed on the forum.

"If you bought one of the top 2 vip packages (Karma is my Boyfriend, or It's a Long Time Coming), you also get early entrance and no line merch opportunities. You will get that regardless of whether or not you get your package in time," another shared.

Taylor Swift Eras merch

"I also entered through a special line that was significantly shorter than general admission, but everything else (except my seat) was the same as general admission," a third said.

In terms of any other perks, the VIP tickets are essentially the same and do not include a meet and greet with Taylor Swift. S

Swift does not tend to do paid meet and greets at her concerts. In the past she has had her team, and her mum, choose dedicated fans from the crowd to meet her backstage after the show.

For her previous tour this was called the Rep Room. However the star doesn't seem to have revived this for her current tour.

Can you get Taylor Swift VIP merch without tickets?

Apart from buying the Taylor Swift VIP merch box on resale sites such as eBay or Depop, the exclusive items do not seem to be on sale first hand on Swift's site.

While the specific items seem to only be available with The Eras Tour VIP ticket package, there is still other concert merch on offer for fans to buy.

Fans with regular tickets to the Australian shows can buy from the merch stands inside and outside the stadiums.

While we haven't gotten a look at any of the merchandise which will be on sale for the Australian leg, it's safe to assume it will be the same offering as the other tour legs.

For those who missed out on tickets altogether, Taylor Swift's official website has merch available on the store.

Taylor Swift

It’s nice to have a friend, and Taylor Swift has plenty of famous pals that have been supporting her on her massive The Eras tour, which kicked off on March 17 in Glendale, Ariz.

Besides friends such as HAIM, Laura Dern, Emma Stone and Shania Twain watching from the crowd and singing along to every word, Swift also surprised fans with onstage appearances. Despite  telling Swifties during night one  at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium that “we don’t have guests at this show,” the pop superstar invited Marcus Mumford, the  Mumford & Sons  frontman, for her debut live performance of “Cowboy Like Me,” from Swift’s chart-topping 2020 album,  Evermore .

Other music stars have also gotten an invite from Swift to perform alongside her on the tour, including opener Gracie Abrams, frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner, Taylor Lautner, Phoebe Bridgers, Ice Spice, Maren Morris and more.

See below for all the celebrities who have made appearances at Swift’s The Eras tour stops, either in the audience or on stage, which we’ll be updating as the 14-time Grammy winner makes her way around the world.

Swift’s “No Body, No Crime” collaborators, “Bejeweled” music video co-stars and besties HAIM were one of the first celebs spotted at The Eras tour, jamming along to the superstar’s many hits and dancing the night away on opening night.

See them via a video shared by People here. The sibling trio is also set to open for Swift later in the tour.

The La La Land actress was just as much of a Swiftie as the rest of the Glendale crowd when she was spotted belting her heart out to the Fearless hit, “Love Story.”

“Last night in Vegas Marcus Mumford showed up and surprised the crowd with ‘Cowboy Like Me’ so like [mind blown emojis],” Swift captioned a photo of the moment on Instagram. See the post here.

Chloë Grace Moretz

Like Stone, Moretz was loving the “Love Story” part of the show in Las Vegas.

Jack Antonoff

Swift’s prolific producer pal Antonoff also made it to see the star in Arlington on April 1. “holy shit,” he captioned an Instagram Stories video taken during the emotional stage production of “August,” a Folklore favorite that he co-wrote and co-produced. Swift also took a special request from Antonoff that night: “Death By a Thousand Cuts,” which was one of the surprise songs on her set list.

Former Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt took to Instagram to rave about his experience at opening night of The Eras tour. “So much respect @taylorswift,” he captioned a video sharing his thoughts about the concert. “When your fans pay for a ticket, they are getting their money’s worth and some.”

Danica Patrick

“We were all so in the moment that we didn’t take many pictures together and I didn’t even take that many videos,” the former race car driver wrote on Instagram. “@taylorswift sang 44 songs and it was the most amazing concert I have ever seen. Swiftie for life.”

Samara Weaving

Samara Weaving was also in attendance on opening night in Glendale, Ariz., and the Scream VI actress took her Instagram Stories to share a few moments from the crowd.

Cara Delevingne

The model took her social media game at The Eras concert to the next level, and actually livestreamed the show on her Instagram account.

Ethan Hawke

It was the ultimate crossover when Hawke was spotted chatting with Selena Gomez at the Arlington, Texas, tour stop.

Joseph Kahn

Grammy Award-winning director Joseph Kahn happily checked in via Instagram Stories from a VIP tent at the April 21 Eras Tour stop in Houston. After the show he wrote , “Irrespective of our friendship, this is my honest opinion: @taylorswift is putting on the show of a lifetime with the Eras Tour. It’s as big, bold, and artistic as any of the great pop stars of history. It’s fueled by her imagination and her soul. It’s stunning and beautiful.” Kahn worked on a number of music videos with Swift: “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods,” “Look What You Made Me Do,” “…Ready for It?”, “End Game” and “Delicate.”

Matty Healy

Matty Healy  was spotted at Swift‘s concert in Nashville on Friday (May 5), sparking further speculation that the two music stars are romantically involved.

Earlier in the week,  rumors surfaced  that the  The 1975  frontman and pop superstar are “massively proud and excited about this relationship,” according to a source cited by  The Sun . The report followed news of Swift’s split from her longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn in early April.

At the show, during her performance of “Cardigan,” fans were quick to notice Swift mouthing the same words to that Healy was  filmed saying  before The 1975’s performance of “About You” in Manila on May 3.

“This one is about you. You know who you are. I love you,” they both  mouthed to the crowd  on the separate occasions.

She returned for more on May 26! Hargitay attended one of Swift’s New Jersey shows and posted a video about her experience on Instagram the next day. “I’m sitting here basking in the glow of last night, Taylor’s concert, which was so amazing. I can’t even get over that woman. Three-and-a-half hours of pure magic,” she gushed. She also showed off a little collection of gifts she received from Swifties: “50 of these friendship bracelets from last night. I’m not just doing this to send to her later. She wanted to hear ‘Forever & Always.'”

Jennifer Lawrence

It was quite a crowd that surrounded Jennifer Lawrence once she was spotted at the VIP tent at Philadelphia’s Sunday night (May 14) show. The actress took the time to interact with fans, even attempting to take group photos while staying on her side of the barricade.

You bring endless joy and inspiration to many, including me. It’s bloody brilliant seeing you having the time of your life up there.”

Taylor Lautner, Joey King & Presley Cash

Fresh off the release of her re-recorded Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album, Swift was joined onstage by actors Taylor Lautner, Joey King and Presley Cash for the premiere of the singer’s action-packed “I Can See You” music video in Kansas City, Mo., on July 7.

Lautner, who briefly dated the singer in 2009, delighted the packed crowd by cartwheeling and backflipping onto the stage. King and Cash previously starred in Swift’s “Mean” video in 2011.

“WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out,” Swift tweeted alongside behind-the-scenes photos from the self-directed video. “I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music.”

Wife Jill posted a closeup of Eddie’s collection of friendship bracelets on Instagram , as well as several Instagram Stories from the concert — including a photo of their children taking a selfie with Swift backstage, and one of Eddie that she labeled “best dad ever.”

Eddie, dressed for the occasion in a sequin jacket over a T-shirt that appeared to say “It’s me, hi, I’m the father it’s me,” seemed in good spirits at Lumen Field, where he chatted with fans who stopped to say hello and give him a bracelet at the VIP tent. One Swiftie even got him to film a sweet happy birthday video for her dad : “Get yourself a nice coat,” he suggested, pointing to his own sequin getup.

The Shang-Chi and Barbie actor attended the July 23 show at Seattle’s Lumen Field. Afterward, he shared photos from the show, and the friendship bracelets he received.

“what a night in seattle!!! i was absolutely BLOWN away by the eras tour, by taylor and by all of the amazing and kind swifties that stopped by the tent to say hello and give a bracelet,” he tweeted . “you really showed me that kindness always wins. bravo!!!”

A Ranking of Every Celebrity Who Attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Before the release of Swift’s concert film on Disney+, it’s time to revisit one of the tour’s greatest gifts: the way it turned A-listers (and B-listers, and Z-listers …) into massive Swifties, just like the rest of us

Share All sharing options for: A Ranking of Every Celebrity Who Attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

vip tent eras tour

Editor’s note, March 14, 2024: This piece was published ahead of the theatrical release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour . We’re resurfacing it now with the movie arriving on Disney+ on Thursday evening.

When Taylor Swift embarked on a tour meant to capture every single era of her winding career, it was only natural that the fans would turn the theme into a challenge. From the very first show in Glendale, Arizona, those attending embodied different versions of Taylor, showing up in pretty pastels as Lover Taylor, donning black and gold snakes as Reputation Taylor, or covering themselves with sparkly stars as Midnights Taylor.

But as Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , the concert film documenting Taylor’s historic tour, hits theaters this week, I’d like to suggest a new spin on concert cosplay culture: I think we should all choose a celebrity Taylor Swift fan to embody when we show up at our local AMCs. Because let me tell you, there is no shortage of options.

Basically everyone who has ever been famous attended the Eras Tour at some point, and they can serve as a source of inspiration for fans looking to mix it up at their screenings. Maybe you want to go all in on friendship bracelets like Halsey, Jennifer Garner, and Emma Stone. Maybe you want to go the chaotic route and livestream the movie on social media like Tiffany Haddish and Sarah Paulson. Maybe you want to prove that male Swifties do exist, and you’re planning to shout out every lyric like Aaron Rodgers and Channing Tatum did. Or maybe you’re just planning to sit in the back row and get a little handsy with your significant other (we saw you, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello).

But while the choices are endless, there is a hierarchy to them. I’ve taken it upon myself to rank every celebrity I could dig up who attended a Taylor Swift concert this year. Because make no mistake: For celebrities, going to the Eras Tour was absolutely a competition. Here’s who won it.

Note: No openers or onstage collaborators were eligible—if they performed onstage, with one notable exception, they aren’t on this list. The celebrities had to be there first and foremost as fans of Taylor. And sure, maybe I missed a celeb or two, but have pity on a tired Swiftie—after over 100 blurbs, I basically lost the will to live .

150. Matty Healy

Right away, here’s the exception to the no onstage performers rule. I don’t want to talk about Matty Healy, but we have to, very briefly, talk about Matty Healy.

The chaotic month during which Taylor rebounded with the 1975 frontman—which included his three appearances at the Eras Tour, and a brief cameo onstage with Phoebe Bridgers—was a truly unbearable time to be a fan of either artist, or to be a human on the internet at all. I’m ranking people on this list based on how much joy I felt seeing each of them at the shows and how much joy I think they personally felt throughout the concert, and Matty Healy made me feel nothing but rage. I also can’t imagine he was living it up during “Shake It Off,” as God intended. There’s just no way this edgelord had a good time .

So here he is, at the bottom. However you feel about Matty—and I’d say few of us feel favorable at this point—I think we’d all be happiest forgetting his relationship with Taylor ever happened. This is one era we can leave in the past.

149. Mark Zuckerberg

vip tent eras tour

Apologies to Mark Zuckerberg and his daughters, who all ostensibly had the time of their lives at the Eras Tour, but this picture will haunt me forever. He ruined the rhinestone Lover heart for me. Tainted forever. Until the day he beats Elon Musk into a pulp , I can’t and won’t forgive him.

148. Ned Fulmer

Can you believe I’m making you think about former Try Guy Ned Fulmer again? This guy has got to stop going to concerts. Not even a year after he got caught attending a Harry Styles concert with his coworker-slash-girlfriend, exposing their affair and prompting his departure from the Try Guys, Ned attended the Eras Tour with his wife, Ariel. He was also ... shirtless for some reason? I can’t tell whether the concert parallels were purposeful or not (perhaps a statement about how their marriage has recovered), but either way … ugh. OK, let’s go back to forgetting about him.

146-147. Zach Braff and Donald Faison

If any Scrubs fans are reading this, I apologize for Donald Faison’s ranking, but he’s inextricably linked to my parasocial enemy Zach Braff and therefore must be punished accordingly. Yeah, they went to the Eras Tour . No, they didn’t dress up. It is in keeping with the spirit of Taylor Swift’s many feuds that I refuse to rank Zach Braff any higher—on this list, or any other. Unblock me on Twitter, Braff, and maybe I’ll reconsider.

144-145. Emma Roberts and Drew Barrymore

These two did not attend tthe Eras Tour together, but I’m grouping them together in one blurb that I like to think of as the “would have been higher a few weeks ago, but …” squad. Emma Roberts, already near the bottom of the Famous Emmas ranking, is dead last lately thanks to her recently reported transphobic behavior on the set of American Horror Story . And after Drew Barrymore trashed her glowing public image by attempting to cross the writers strike picket line , it’s a little tough to give her any credit for wearing sparkles or trading friendship bracelets over the summer. To be fair, this list is not a morality ranking, but again, my personal joy is a factor, and there is little joy to be found with these two at the moment.

136-143. Supposed “Celebrities” That I Had to Google: Amanda Kloots, Lo Bosworth, Dylan Mulvaney, Emma Hernan, Trista Sutter, Russell Dickerson, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and Joe Locke

I greatly appreciate that publications like Us Weekly do their best to compile posts from every public figure who attended the Eras Tour, but their definition of celebrity is slightly different from mine. Maybe it’s a personal problem—I don’t know much about reality TV—but this group is made up of all the people that I’m told attended and I’m told are famous; I simply do not know them. For the most part, they’re TikTokers, reality stars, country music singers, D-list actors, and the kid from Heartstopper . (I did like that show. Sorry, buddy.)

109-135. Celebrities Whose Concertgoing Experiences Were Simply Not Notable Enough to Merit a Blurb: Kyle Richards, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Chrishell Stause, G Flip, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Patrick Mahomes, JJ Watt, Josh Gad, Kesha, Emily Ratajkowski, Nicky Hilton, Jennie Garth, Julia Garner, Jenna Bush Hager, Kaitlyn Dever, Bethenny Frankel, Mike Myers, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Sabrina Carpenter, Jesse McCartney, Simu Liu, Sydney Sweeney, Diplo, and Chloë Grace Moretz

I do not want to write a blurb about Simu Liu at the Eras Tour, and you do not want to read a blurb about Simu Liu at the Eras Tour. Let’s just agree to keep it moving.

108. Reese Witherspoon

While researching this ridiculous piece, I came across several blogs that claim Reese Witherspoon is a “ proud ” and “ massive Swiftie .” But even though she attended a Nashville stop, I’m not convinced that Reese Witherspoon is much of a Swiftie at all. Sure, it fits into her brand, but read this caption and tell me it doesn’t sound like it was written by someone who barely knows a single Taylor song:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Reese Witherspoon (@reesewitherspoon)

The other evidence everyone is pointing to for her Swiftie cred is a 2022 interview about Where the Crawdads Sing , a movie produced by Reese, in which she says Taylor’s original song “Carolina” is “beautiful, and the perfect way to end the movie.” Like, sure, of course it is. But if I’m gonna be reading headlines about how she’s a huge Swiftie, I’m gonna need to see better receipts. Reese, sing the “Cruel Summer” bridge word for word. I dare you!

105-107. Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber (and Adam Scott)

The nicest thing I can say about Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler’s incredibly blah appearance at the Eras Tour is that thanks to this TikTok , I found out that Adam Scott was also there. Love that guy.

104. Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot was very tall, and very pretty, and very boring at the Eras Tour. Black outfit, no friendship bracelets … yawn. I’ve given her a blurb of her own purely to ask: Do you think she tried to get Taylor Swift to be in her infamous “Imagine” video back in 2020? Just curious. I’m leaning definitely yes.

102-103. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

Nearly every headline about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello at the Eras Tour includes the acronym “ PDA ,” which automatically drops them to the bottom half of the list. It looks like all they did was some heavy snuggling, but still, when we normalize concert PDA, we end up with Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s make-out at Beyoncé. Actions have consequences.

101. Paul Thomas Anderson

The odds that PTA attended the Eras Tour exclusively to see HAIM are pretty good. Like, there is a legitimate chance that he left after their set. Since he’s possibly the only person who truly cared more about the opener than Taylor, I don’t think we can award him very many Swiftie points. But he’s certainly loyal to his faves, and we have to give him credit for that.

99-100. Anya Taylor-Joy (and Richard Madden)

Something about Anya Taylor-Joy makes me feel like she was super bored at the Eras Tour. I can’t find any record of her being a Taylor Swift fan, but while researching, I did come across this face morph of “Anya Taylor Swift,” which I must now share with you. Anyway, I can’t prove it, but I feel like she probably left early.

It is thanks to this video of Anya , however, that I recognized the King in the North, Richard Madden, was also at the Eras Tour, and I feel he merits a last-minute inclusion on this list. I’d know that gray streak anywhere.

98. Ethan Hawke

Sure, he showed up , but we all know he’s really more of a Rihanna guy .

97. Sofia Richie Grainge

Sofia Richie (now Grainge) gets points for posting a TikTok documenting her friendship bracelets, but the shot of her ring at the end is so classic that I have to laugh. We get it, you got married! Please find a new lane!

96. Rachel Bilson

According to her Broad Ideas podcast, Rachel Bilson’s 8-year-old daughter left the Eras Tour—her first concert ever—ready to end some friendships after her young pals were too tired to stay for the entire show. “She was mad. She was so mad,” Rachel said, explaining that her daughter’s friend passed out in her seat after going too hard during “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

Rookie mistake: Everyone knows you’ve gotta pace yourself, even if you’re an 8-year-old.

95. Jessica Chastain

If there’s one thing Jessica Chastain is gonna do, it’s post. The lady loves to post. And post she did after attending the Eras Tour in Mexico City in August.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jessica Chastain (@jessicachastain)

Points awarded for securing the meet and greet, but points deducted for wearing a black dress and trench coat. Can we get a sparkle or two? A friendship bracelet? We can do better. We must.

90-94. Personal Favorites: Haley Lu Richardson, Mae Martin, D’Arcy Carden, Hayley Kiyoko, and Becca Tilley

Essentially the only thing that this group has in common is that I’m a fan of them all, I follow them all closely on Instagram, and I witnessed their Eras concert experiences in real time on my own Instagram feed, no research needed. They get a section of their own because they are tragically not famous enough to be any higher, but I enjoyed their journeys in a pure, unfiltered way nonetheless.

Thanks to the transient nature of Instagram Stories, there is little evidence remaining of some of these personal faves at the Eras Tour, so you’ll have to trust my firsthand observations here. I know Mae Martin was there because I have a huge crush on them, I heavily rooted for them on the recent season of Taskmaster , and I noted that their seats at the L.A. show weren’t too far from mine when they posted a picture on Instagram Stories. I know D’Arcy Carden was there because people tell me we look alike, and I thought it would be funny if I saw her in person. I know Haley Lu Richardson was there because people made fun of her character’s clothes on The White Lotus and she wore an equally quirky outfit to the concert. And I know Hayley Kiyoko and Becca Tilley were there because they’re the only Bachelor Nation couple that I’ve literally ever cared about.

88-89. Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse

In classic fashion, Robert Pattinson somehow evaded nearly every mainstream list of celebrities who attended the Eras Tour. It was only while researching Suki Waterhouse that I came across this incredibly blurry picture as proof that he was there with her:

Nova foto de Taylor Swift com Robert Pattinson, Julia Garner, Suki Waterhouse, Keleigh Teller, Miles Teller e Aaron Rodgers nos bastidores da "The Eras Tour" neste domingo, em East Rutherford. pic.twitter.com/DkJQnr6bpE — Update Swift Brasil (@updateswiftbr) May 30, 2023

Suki has said that her favorite album is Evermore (taste), but I’m curious which Taylor Swift songs float Rob’s boat. I’m sure it’s not anything on Midnights ; he’s more of a Twilight guy.

(I’m so sorry.)

85-87. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seth Green, and Alyson Hannigan

It was a big day for the Buffy fans (a.k.a. me) when Sarah Michelle Gellar posted a selfie with Seth Green at one of the L.A. stops of the Eras Tour. Alyson Hannigan showed up too , and as one fan put it in the comments, “The fact that Willow heard Willow live …” So important. We must remember that the Scooby Gang was the OG squad goals—Buffy taught Taylor everything she knows. (For example, it never works out with the blond British guy.)

83-84. Paula Abdul and Vince Vaughn

I have no idea what these two talked about, but they took two pictures together at the show, one of which included Taylor’s parents, so words must have been exchanged in some respect.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Paula Abdul (@paulaabdul)

A fascinating duo in so many ways. The height difference. The look of exhaustion in Vince’s eyes. Is he happy? Did he enjoy the show? There’s no way to know. Paula clearly did, though.

82. Mindy Kaling

It’s hard for me to be cynical about any of these parents bringing their kids to the Eras Tour, and Mindy Kaling and daughter Kit were no exception. Look at them; they had a blast. Those big, clunky concert headphones on little kids get me every time too. Ear safety is adorable!

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling)

80-81. Max Greenfield and Hunter Schafer

The Eras Tour was fuel for many weird celebrity linkups, but somehow this selfie featuring Max Greenfield and Hunter Schafer was the one that really threw me. How do they know each other? What would Schmidt from New Girl think of Euphoria ? (He’d hate it.) I’m sure they had a great time; I just have a lot of questions.

79. Sofia Vergara

Two weeks after filing for divorce from Joe Manganiello, Sofia Vergara donned a sparkly pin-striped suit and hit the Eras Tour on a girls night out, which is pretty much exactly what you’d expect her to do. Her post was on the “look how hot I am” side of the fangirl spectrum, featuring two pictures of herself, none of Taylor, and a caption full of clapping emojis. Full marks.

78. Robin Roberts

The most relatable thing about Robin Roberts’s Eras Tour experience is that she fully skipped work on the Friday of her New York show to emotionally, spiritually, and physically prepare. (She skipped the following Monday too, but it was Memorial Day, so we can’t give Taylor all the credit for that one.) One cannot be expected to simply show up to work the day of the Eras Tour, and I respect Robin for normalizing the preconcert day off.

77. Hoda Kotb

Leave it to Hoda to shout out public transit while sharing her Eras Tour journey on Instagram. She snapped selfies with huge crowds of fans while en route to the show and ended up on the floor with a group of friends. “You always go on these great adventures!” one Instagram commenter replied. I’m pretty sure they meant braving the train with the regular people, as opposed to attending a Taylor Swift concert.

76. Rachel Zegler

Rachel Zegler told THR in March that she failed to get Eras tickets on Ticketmaster, claiming, “I got screwed by Ticketmaster too, guys. Celebrities, they’re just like us!” Ultimately, though, she managed to get into a New York show in May . Celebrities, they’re not really like us!

75. Lin-Manuel Miranda

Of course Lin-Manuel Miranda made it into the room where it happens . (Sorry.) He wore a silly hat, he toasted a fan-photographer, and he acted pretty much exactly as you’d expect him to act.

73-74. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita

I find it very funny that Jesse Tyler Ferguson wore a Cats movie shirt as unofficial Taylor Swift merch to the Eras Tour. That’s all.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jesse Tyler Ferguson (@jessetyler)

72. Bradley Cooper

I’m a huge fan of the silly bouncing dance that Bradley Cooper was caught doing to “Shake It Off” in N.Y.C. He also receives points for wearing show merch out and about two days after the tour.

58-71. Music Video Squad: Mariska Hargitay, Jessica Alba, Sophia Bush, Ellen Pompeo, Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham, Miles and Keleigh Teller, Sadie Sink, Laura Dern, Blake Lively, and Joey King (Plus Savannah Guthrie)

Throw a stone into any of the VIP tents on the Eras Tour, and you were likely to hit a Taylor squad member who’s made a cameo in one of her music videos. “Bad Blood” was well represented in L.A., of course, with everyone from the models (Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid) to the actresses (Jessica Alba, Lena Dunham, and many more). And we can’t forget the stars of the newer music videos: Sadie Sink of “All Too Well” fame brushed shoulders with Miles and Keleigh Teller (“I Bet You Think About Me”), Joey King (“I Can See You” and “Mean”), and Laura Dern (“Bejeweled”). Then there’s Taylor bestie and fellow Kansas City Chiefs supporter Blake Lively, who directed the “I Bet You Think About Me” video and attended the show in Philadelphia.

They get points for the Taylor Swift connection, of course, but I will say that I was a bit underwhelmed by this group’s lack of fangirl energy—with the exception of Mariska Hargitay, who is carrying this team. The SVU star, whose character is the namesake of Taylor’s cat Olivia Benson , absolutely gushed on Instagram about the show she attended with her daughter, Amaya (and also Savannah Guthrie).

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mariska (@therealmariskahargitay)

57. Jeff Goldblum

I don’t feel like I can give Jeff Goldblum complete credit for this dual Instagram post since I’m 99 percent certain the caption was written by his wife, Emilie, who appears to be a true-blue Swiftie.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jeff Goldblum (@jeffgoldblum)

Jeff was definitely along for the ride, but he seemed a little stunned by it all—particularly as Emilie screamed “Cruel Summer” along with the rest of the stadium. The fringe jacket is pretty great, though; he’s clearly a Swiftie by osmosis, if nothing else.

56. Julia Roberts

You know who’s a sneaky-weird Instagram follow? Julia Roberts, longtime Swiftie and attendee of a Chicago stop on the Eras Tour. Take, for example, her minimalist Instagram post about the show: one single image of the screen, odd capitalization choices, and three hashtags, #Erastour, #betty, and #13. Why did she choose to highlight “Betty,” which is literally no one’s favorite Taylor Swift song? I have no idea. She’s a national treasure.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Julia Roberts (@juliaroberts)

55. David Harbour

I appreciate David Harbour for being candid about how incredibly hard it was even for celebrities to nail down Eras tickets. “You gotta call in a lot of favors,” he said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast , explaining how he managed to get himself and his stepdaughter into a Minnesota show (which they traveled to because it was the only weekend they could attend). They didn’t get a chance to meet Taylor, but she did write his stepdaughter a note and waved from the stage, which had to win him some points.

54. Shania Twain

We got a strong mom-core showing from country music icon Shania, who posted a video twirling and snapping to “Blank Space” at the Las Vegas show. I suppose most Taylor Swift songs aren’t the easiest to dance to, so even the best of us have to resort to an awkward clap and shuffle on occasion. Doesn’t matter—automatic points to the queen.

53. Aaron Rodgers

I hate to say it, but I think Aaron Rodgers had an amazing time at the Eras Tour. Footage of him living it up was all over the internet, from singing “August” to Miles and Keleigh Teller to shaking it off in the VIP tent and somehow knowing the words to “ ’ Tis the Damn Season,” which I have no choice but to respect. I was initially going to group the NFL players together into one blurb, but in terms of Swiftie credentials, JJ Watt and Patrick Mahomes cannot begin to compare, and I think we just have to let Aaron cook on his own. (He needs a win right now, you know?)

42-52. The Disney, CW, and Network TV Girlies: Hilary Duff, Miranda Cosgrove, Ashley Greene, Victoria Justice, Lucy Hale, Lana Condor, Nina Dobrev, Ashley Tisdale, Lili Reinhart, Sofia Carson, and Candice King

Something deep inside me made me group these women together—possibly because I associate my Taylor Swift fandom with the time in my life when I was watching things like Pretty Little Liars , iCarly , Victorious , Twilight , etc. I genuinely continue to stan most of these women, and I loved seeing their concerts documented on my Instagram feed: Lana Condor went all out in a pink cowboy hat, Ashley Tisdale made her own T-shirt, and Nina Dobrev arrived in a party bus.

But Candice King, known pretty exclusively by those who watched The Vampire Diaries , was more invested in the Eras Tour than just about any celebrity on this list. I can’t in good faith rank her any higher since I may be the only person who is still invested in her life and career, but I have to give her some space. First of all, Candice went to multiple stops: First she sat in the nosebleeds , then she appears to have bought floor seats in L.A.; she had incredible outfits and makeup and arms full of bracelets; and she put up, from what I can see, five separate grid posts about the shows, including one simply for “counting down to the Eras Tour.” I don’t know whether there’s a bigger Swiftie on this list, and that includes people who know Taylor personally.

41. Kerry Washington

Big points to Kerry Washington for posting a preshow video of her Red- era concert outfit:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kerry Washington (@kerrywashington)

That said, disappointingly little footage exists of Kerry at the show. But I don’t feel like we need it—I know in my heart that she had a blast.

40. Emma Watson

Taylor Swift has become friendly with several of her exes over the years, and it seems as though Emma Watson chose to follow in her footsteps, attending the Las Vegas show with ex-boyfriend Brendan Wallace . (They were also papped together in the following weeks, but the internet doesn’t seem convinced that they’re back together.) No better way to experience a Taylor Swift show than by stirring up a few dating rumors of your own, am I right?

39. Sandra Oh

I didn’t expect Sandra Oh to go viral for her appearance at the Eras Tour, but neither did the two concertgoers who asked a “super nice lady” to take their picture before realizing it was the 13-time Emmy nominee (fitting!). They relayed the story in a now-deleted TikTok, and Sandra responded with a selfie on her own Instagram Stories that then made the rounds due to an accidental Karlie Kloss cameo in an upper corner of the image. (More on her later.)

38. Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner’s Instagram presence is largely what you’d expect from the star of Yellowstone : It’s a lot of cowboy hats and horses, some videos of his band, career throwbacks, and the occasional fishing picture. But he put all that on pause to post a few blurry videos of Taylor Swift and shout out his “inspiring night” at the Eras Tour with his daughter, who made him “officially a Swiftie!”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kevin Costner & Modern West (@kevincostnermodernwest)

Great work, girl dad.

37. Toni Collette

Not too many celebs showed up to the Eras Tour in Cincinnati, but Toni Collette seized the Midwestern moment:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by TONI COLLETTE (@toni_collette_official)

Now this is a *true* fangirl post. Grid post with a long, earnest caption. All 10 Instagram slides utilized. No selfies, just pictures and videos of Taylor. What does #sheisher mean? No idea. Doesn’t matter. Mark my words: Toni Collette is a real, genuine Swiftie.

36. Jennifer Lawrence

At first, Jennifer Lawrence seemed to have a pretty standard Eras tour appearance, dressing like an extra in Daisy Jones & the Six , greeting fans, and receiving friendship bracelets. But then, on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen , JLaw relayed a bizarre story in which a fan screamed her name mid-concert and held up an iPad in an attempt to connect her with Craig Conover from Southern Charm via FaceTime. I can’t even begin to explain it—I defer to Jen on this one.

35. Charlize Theron

I don’t exactly think of a concert mom when I think of Charlize Theron, but she subverted expectations by spending her 48th birthday at one of the L.A. shows with her daughters, August and Jackson. She didn’t quite dress all the way up, but her daughters were decked out in merch, and I do spot several friendship bracelets. Ultimately, the highlight of Charlize’s concert experience was this video, in which the three-time Oscar nominee executes a charmingly awkward “Shake It Off” dance with her daughters:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Charlize Theron (@charlizeafrica)

34. Billy Joel

I can’t decide whether Billy Joel got the elusive backstage invite because of his status as a music legend, because he once called Taylor our generation’s Beatles, or because he and his family attended the show in Tampa, Florida, where I have to assume there were minimal other celebrities in attendance. Regardless, he deserves it (and his daughters are adorable).

33. Alicia Keys

It seems as though famous parents with tiny Swiftie children were most likely to snag a meet-and-greet slot with Taylor, but Alicia Keys’s son Genesis has extra history with our girl after he sat next to her at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards. They reunited backstage after an L.A. show, and Taylor even wrote him a sweet little note documented on Alicia’s Instagram:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Alicia Keys (@aliciakeys)

32. Paul Rudd

You’re not gonna believe this, but Paul Rudd has once again proved himself to be the nicest guy in the world. After being approached by singer-songwriter fan Claud at the VIP tent at the Eras Tour and told about a song they wrote called “Paul Rudd,” the titular Paul gave Claud his email and promised to connect with them about the album. Not only did he come through, but Paul Rudd also ended up starring in a music video for his new Eras Tour bestie.

29-31. Zoe Saldaña, Tiffany Haddish, and Cameron Diaz

Posting concert videos on Instagram is one thing; livestreaming from a VIP suite in the middle of the show is another. No surprise that Tiffany Haddish chose the more chaotic route, going on Instagram Live during “No Body, No Crime” to cheer on “our girl TT” with Cameron Diaz and Zoe Saldaña:

| Cameron Diaz and Zoe Saldana were at the show with @TiffanyHaddish ! #LATSTheErasTour — She went live on Instagram for 7minutes during the evermore set. pic.twitter.com/YrWXo6OSrR — Taylor Swift News (@TSwiftNZ) August 8, 2023

Cameron really steals the show here with some very mom-core finger snapping and asking Tiffany “What song is this?” after confirming that they’re live. Not everyone knows the B-sides.

27-28. Jaime King (and Her Clone, Samara Weaving)

Longtime Taylor BFF Jaime King hasn’t made it into a music video yet, but she’s got that Fourth of July party invite locked down (not to mention that Taylor is her son’s godmother). So it’s not a shocker that Jaime showed up at an L.A. stop, posting on her Instagram Stories about Taylor’s “prolific soul.” But if you thought you saw Jaime at the Glendale show, take another look—it was probably her (and Margot Robbie ’s) clone, Samara Weaving, who took a break from looking identical to a bevy of blond actresses to check out the opening-night concert.

Few famous fans committed to Eras friendship bracelet culture like Halsey. She made 50 different bracelets to give out and trade at an L.A. show, which I have to imagine is a time commitment that’s similarly lengthy to—and much more rewarding than—say, writing more than 100 blurbs about celebrity Taylor Swift fans.

25. Jennifer Garner

I’m the world’s biggest Alias fan, so it’s important to me that Jennifer Garner attended the Kansas City show not only for Taylor, but also to cheer on opener Gracie Abrams, daughter of longtime collaborator J.J. Abrams.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jennifer Garner (@jennifer.garner)

It’s also the most Jennifer Garner thing in the world to don every single bracelet that fans gave her at the show, resulting in forearms so packed that I worry for her circulation. I don’t know a better person!

24. Millie Bobby Brown

These celebrity parents have all done their best, but no one does the Eras Tour like Gen Z does the Eras Tour. Millie Bobby Brown, a longtime Swiftie who used lyrics from “Lover” in her engagement announcement , showed up to the Cincinnati show in full Lover attire, rhinestone eye heart and all. This would have been enough to secure her a high ranking, but then she went viral for this sweet moment with a security guard:

@swagmastercam Millie you made my entire life. Seriously such a genuine and kind person. ❤️❤️❤️ #milliebobbybrown #eras #tserastour #cincy #cincinnati #erastourcincinnati #tserastour2023 #erastourcincy #tstheerastourcincinnati ♬ original sound - cammy cam

23. Meghan Markle

Here’s the thing: Did Meghan Markle actually attend the Eras Tour? The internet tells me she was at a Los Angeles show, but I can’t find a single image of her in the crowd, which seems impossible. Everyone seems to be working off a Page Six report that says she went to the concert while Harry was in Tokyo for a business trip—but are we sure ? Maybe everyone is just too wrapped up in rewatching Suits on Netflix and they collectively hallucinated seeing Meghan as a result. You can’t trust everything you read online, you guys.

All that said, if we’re working on the assumption that the internet is correct and the Duchess of Sussex did in fact make the long drive from Montecito to Inglewood to sit through a four-hour show with a stadium full of lowly peasants, she automatically gets a high ranking. I don’t make the rules. (I do.)

15-22. Sarah Paulson (Plus Lupita Nyong’o, Elizabeth Banks, Amy Adams, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, Miles Heizer, and Darren Criss)

Another celebrity to go live on Instagram during the show! Thanks to the magic of the internet, you can experience 10 minutes of the Eras Tour with all-time hang Sarah Paulson:

@ayln.lvsgirls Sarah at the end is so cute with all the bags // video by @Lupita Nyong’o #sarahpaulson #aylnlvsgirls #erastourtaylorswift #sarahpaulsonswiftie #sarahpaulsoninstagram #sarahpaulsonfan #taylorswiftbracelets #erastourmerch #lupitanyongo #rachelpaulson #sarahpaulsonandrachelpaulson ♬ Originalton - Ayleen | she/her | ️‍

And that’s not all: Lupita Nyong’o took it upon herself to document their journey in a deeply charming TikTok that included a mid-show upgrade (“We’re moving closer!”); cameos from Darren Criss, Mae Whitman, and Miles Heizer; and an impressive merch haul. Sarah was also vibing with Elizabeth Banks and Amy Adams , trading bracelets with Brie Larson , and apparently just hanging out with everyone. I would die for her, and it seems that half of Hollywood would, too.

14. Selena Gomez

Iconic squad member Selena Gomez attended two nights of the Eras Tour, first in Texas and then in Los Angeles , both times with her sister Gracie. As far as concert wardrobes go, Selena left most celebs in the dust. She recreated Taylor’s Folklore “Cardigan” look for the first show, then decked herself out in concert merch for the second. Missed opportunity to go as her own villainous character from the “Bad Blood” music video , but a strong showing nonetheless.

13. Adam Sandler

The dress code at the Eras Tour is so strict that even Adam Sandler adjusted his uniform of huge shirt and basketball shorts to fit in. He’s in his Lover era, and he’s thriving.

| Adam Sandler is at the Eras Tour! pic.twitter.com/vz9UyrNW76 — The Swift Society (@TheSwiftSociety) August 10, 2023

10-12. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban (and Bo Burnham, Accidentally)

For proof that everyone’s favorite Australian power couple had the time of their lives at the Eras Tour, look no further than the TikTok that Keith Urban posted of him and Nicole Kidman as they blissfully enjoyed “Style” at the Philadelphia show. They had so much fun they didn’t even realize they were hard launching Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham’s new relationship.

@keithurban we love ya @Taylor Swift #erastour ♬ Style - Taylor Swift

To be fair, Bo’s a tall guy, and Keith is not. It’s not his fault his TikTok turned into an accidental kiss cam. But the combination of Nicole and Keith’s genuine enjoyment with the resulting small-scale social media scandal was truly beautiful. “I felt bad!” Keith told Entertainment Tonight , apologizing to Phoebe and Bo. “I was just digging the concert!” We know, buddy. We know.

8-9. Taylor Lautner (and His Wife, Taylor Lautner)

I don’t think Taylor Lautner gets enough credit for being one of the few Taylor Swift exes with a song about how she did him wrong. She apologizes to him ! It’s the most iconic thing about Taylor Lautner, followed closely by the fact that he married a different woman named Taylor, who then took his last name to become Taylor Lautner: The Second.

The Taylors Lautner attended several stops of the Eras Tour, including Kansas City, where Taylor (Swift) invited Taylor (Lautner, the first) onto the stage, where Taylor (Lautner, still the first) did a backflip and showed off his appearance in Taylor (Swift)’s new music video for “I Can See You ,” as Taylor (Lautner, the second) looked on.

Huge night for Taylors.

7. Flavor Flav

Each Eras show starts with a countdown on a giant clock , which is why I have to assume no one felt more at home in the audience than clock enthusiast Flavor Flav. I’m just gonna let his video from the Detroit show speak for itself:

THANKX to all my new friends,,, luv my fellow Swifties #TaylorSwift #ErasTour #FriendsForever pic.twitter.com/BY6ELIkFmQ — FLAVOR FLAV 6/9 + 8/7 (@FlavorFlav) June 10, 2023

5-6. Channing Tatum (and Gayle King)

I don’t want to give too much credit to the men who slapped a few sparkles on their faces and sang the words to some of the most popular songs in the world—not when the girls were out there recreating full outfits and sobbing their way through surprise songs. But Channing Tatum is different. Channing Tatum is special. Channing Tatum single-handedly redeemed the Lover heart that Mark Zuckerburg tried his best to ruin. Please look at Gayle King’s pictures and videos of Channing voguing in am “I’m the Daddy It’s Me” shirt and tell me they do not bring you immense happiness:

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gayle King (@gayleking)

I forgive him for calling himself Daddy. I forgive him for the jorts. I forgive him for Jupiter Ascending .

4. Karlie Kloss

It’s hard to describe the overwhelming, chaotic joy that I felt sitting in the stands on the final night of the Eras Tour’s first leg and seeing on Twitter that Karlie Kloss was not only at the show, but sitting in worse seats than I was . I’m not an actual Kaylor shipper (I’ve always been more of a Dianna Agron girl, myself), but I have dedicated a lot of time and brainpower over the years to keeping up with the Kaylor conspiracy , and I’ve found the ensuing Taylor-Karlie cold war to be even more entertaining. So the fact that Karlie had “ shown up uninvited ,” as one fan put it, was beautiful, and hilarious, and baffling. And to then not be sitting in the VIP section? To be among the regular people? Unreal. Flawless.

Maybe they’re chill now—maybe Taylor invited her, and Karlie didn’t pay real human dollars in the Ticketmaster trenches like the rest of us. Or maybe they’re still feuding, and Karlie just lives for chaos and decided to roll up and look the Kaylor conspirators right in the eye . Either way, her appearance made a bigger social media splash than just about anyone else’s, generating the kind of joyous hater energy that can fuel a fandom for weeks.

3. Vanessa, Bianka, Natalia, and Capri Bryant

At each show, Taylor chooses a young fan to come to the front of the stage during “22,” when they share a cute hug before Taylor plops her classic Red bowler hat on the tiny fan’s head. It’s a sweet, emotional moment every time, but particularly during the first L.A. show of the tour, when the honor went to Vanessa and Kobe Bryant’s 6-year-old daughter, Bianka . Beyond Bianka’s moment in the spotlight, it was a perfect, glittery girls night out for the Bryant Swifties . The younger girls rocked some floofy purple dresses and sequined jackets, complete with protective concert headphones, and Vanessa wore a custom bejeweled jean jacket featuring a picture of Kobe and Taylor onstage during The 1989 World Tour. To wrap things up, they snagged the coveted postshow picture with Taylor. Quite frankly, no celebrity squad did it better.

2. Emma Stone

Emma Stone seems like the greatest friend of all time, and also possibly the biggest Taylor Swift fan of all time. First, she was seen at the opening night of the tour in Glendale, “losing her entire gd mind” to “You Belong With Me.” But that wasn’t enough—she also had to close out two nights of the tour in Los Angeles, where she was seen trading bracelets with fans , chatting with Damien Chazelle (in a mini La La Land reunion), and cheers-ing with Laura Dern.

Aside from the friendship bracelets, Emma didn’t dress to the nines like some of these other fans, but I think that speaks to the purity of her experience. She wasn’t there to be seen, or to make any “Best-Dressed Celebs at the Eras Tour” lists. She simply showed up three separate times to scream her little heart out for her longtime bestie, and that’s what it’s all about.

1. Travis Kelce

I know, I know. It pains me too. But ultimately, no single celebrity benefited more from their Eras Tour appearance than Travis Kelce—and we have to give him credit for buying into the full experience, even if it was in service of (successfully) shooting his shot. He went so far as to make Taylor a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, which is equal parts cringe and genius, and therefore pretty firmly in line with Taylor’s own brand. Travis bemoaned that he was unable to give Taylor the bracelet or speak to her after the show on his podcast in July , but clearly they managed to connect in the months since.

It does feel a little wrong to give Travis the no. 1 spot over all these other celebs, who showed up without an underlying agenda, but aside from Matty Healy, whose rebound moment was too dark sided and chaotic to enjoy, no other famous attendee managed to finagle their way into a new Taylor era of their own. And no matter how long it lasts from here on, we cannot deny that the Kelce era is firmly upon us. Let’s hope he can keep from messing this up long enough to inspire a few smash hits and turn every aggro NFL fan into a Swiftie via sheer exposure therapy.

Katy Perry, Travis Kelce catch Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Sydney

vip tent eras tour

SYDNEY, Australia — "A lot going on at the moment" would be the theme Taylor Swift's first Sydney concert: a postponed show and canceled opening act, a "Tortured Poets" announcement and appearances from Travis Kelce and Katy Perry.

Rain and lightning interrupted the start of the Eras Tour, canceling Sabrina Carpenter’s opening act and delaying Taylor Swift 's start by twenty minutes.

But as soon as the weather cleared the open-roofed stadium, the electricity among the 81,000 fans in the stands ignited. The backsplash animation of the Eras Tour transitioned to show a red digital countdown clock. The song "You Don't Own Me" by Lesley Gore played with the first time shown as 2:23. Check it once, check it twice, it's a date that will be remembered.

“We have a little bit of a weather situation,” Swift said, “a little bit of rain, but I have never known an Aussie crowd that let anything get in the way."

Hours before the concert and rain, temperatures swelled to over 100 degrees, prompting many fans to wait for doors to open in the shade. Moms applied sunscreen outside of the stadium. Those in line for merchandise used their VIP passes to brush wind across their faces or fans charged by a USB port. On the floor of the stadium, an area with free drinking water allowed fans to fill up.

Kelce is the guy in VIP with Katy Perry and Rita Ora

Travis Kelce attended the show with his friend and a fellow NFL tight end, Ross Travis. The two walked into the stadium about five minutes before showtime, and the crowd went wild. Singers Katy Perry and Rita Ora, and Ora's husband, director Taika Waititi, also attended.

Perry posted photos of the night on Instagram the next morning, including a clip of "Bad Blood," a song reportedly written about her before she and Swift made amends.

A more common outfit to the Eras Tour since Swift began dating Kelce has been Kansas City jerseys. The big question on everyone’s mind in Sydney was would Swift end the show with “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.”

Swift only changed the "Karma" lyrics once before with Kelce watching from the VIP tent in Buenos Aires, Argentina .

Swift has a 'Blank Space' for Sydney

In the 1989 World Tour movie, the location of the performance was Sydney. During that tour, Swift grabbed an iron golf club for the bridge of "Blank Space" and hit a metal pole sticking out of the stage: boom, boom. She paused and did it again: boom, boom. But this time sang "Syd-ney." The eight-count sound effect looped as she started, "Boys only want love if it's torture." The sound has been turned into a TikTok trend with fans recreating it all week at the Sydney Opera House.

Swift made reference to it during her secret song surprise set.

"By the way, do you know how cool it was when I was singing 'Blank Space,'" she said. "can we do it again?" The crowd yelled "Syd-ney" after she said, "Boys only want love if it's torture."

Swift announces 'Albatross' and invites Sabrina to sing 'White Horse'

Similar to what Swift did on her first night in Melbourne, she introduced a brand-new track and vinyl version of her 11th album. Instead of "The Bolter," she showed a third album artwork with the title "The Albatross." "The Tortured Poets Department" will be out on April 19.

In the acoustic set, after playing "How You Get the Girl" from "1989 (Taylor's Version)" on guitar, Swift invited Sabrina Carpenter to the stage.

"She willingly sacrificed her show," said Swift in reference to her canceled set due to the rain, "which I think is a crime to Sydney."

She invited Carpenter to join her at the piano to sing a mashup of "White Horse" from "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Coney Island" from "Evermore."

Swift has three more nights in Sydney and then she has five days until she will perform at the National Stadium in Singapore for six shows.

Travis Kelce Supports Taylor Swift at Her First Eras Tour Show in Sydney — and Rocks Friendship Bracelets!

Swift will perform for four nights, from Feb. 23 to Feb. 26

Brendan Le is an Editorial Intern at PEOPLE with three years of experience working as an editor and writer.

vip tent eras tour

Travis Kelce flew halfway across the world to support Taylor Swift in Sydney for her Eras Tour !

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, was first spotted walking through the crowd at his girlfriend’s concert on the first night of her world tour’s stop at the Accor Stadium on Friday.

In a video posted to X (formerly known as Twitter), Swift's fans could be seen screaming as Kelce, who was dressed in a matching blue T-shirt and shorts, clapped and waved as he made his way to his spot to watch the show.

Another video posted on X showed the tight end standing in the VIP tent at the stadium, clapping as the music swelled and the crowd cheered. Kelce — who even wore friendship bracelets, which Swifties have worn and swapped throughout the Eras Tour, on both arms — then smiled as he looked toward the stage. Meanwhile, photographs from the show captured Kelce smiling, waving and appearing to throw a few dance moves as he enjoyed his girlfriend's performance.

James Gourley/Shutterstock

Kelce wasn't the only famous face in attendance at Friday's show, with singers Katy Perry and Rita Ora spotted chatting in the crowd as they waited for the show to start. Ora's husband, filmmaker Taika Waititi , also joined the duo.

The pop superstar's first of four nights at the stadium kicked off shortly before 8 p.m. local time following a delay due to adverse weather. "Please note, due to weather, show start time has been delayed," the Accor Stadium shared in a post on X. "Stay undercover until further notice and follow venue screens and staff instructions. Stay safe and remember to be kind to those around you."

According to a post on X, Swift, also 34, addressed the weather as she took to the stage and told the crowd, "We have a little bit of a weather situation, a little bit of rain but I have never known an Aussie crowd that let anything get in the way!"

She later told her fans , “You’re really making me feel like tonight I get to play a sold out show for 81,000 people in Sydney."

Swift's support act, Sabrina Carpenter , was unable to perform her set due to the delay. According to local media outlet ABC , fans had earlier been evacuated due to lightning strikes near the stadium.

PEOPLE confirmed on Wednesday that Kelce would arrive in Australia to attend the Friday show after speculation that the athlete would travel to the land Down Under to see Swift. It’s currently unknown how many shows he plans to see.

Ezra Shaw/Getty

The football star’s father Ed Kelce told The Sydney Morning Herald that his son “seemed keen” to fly to Sydney. He added that Travis “said he'd really like to see Sydney and Singapore” but "wasn't sure because he has commitments."

Since going public with their relationship in September , the power couple have shown up for each other on several occasions. During 13 games in the past NFL season, Swift could be spotted cheering for her boyfriend and his team from a suite. At the Super Bowl , after the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers to defend their title, Swift was part of the crowd on the field celebrating with Kelce .

“Thank you for coming, baby,” Travis said in a mic’d moment as he held Swift on the pitch. “Thank you for making it halfway across the world.” The pop star had flown straight to Las Vegas from her last Tokyo show to watch the Chiefs’ overtime victory.

Mike Djordj / SplashNews.com

Back in November, for Swift’s stint in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Travis flew out on a bye week for the “Cruel Summer” singer’s concert. After Swift closed the show, cameras caught her running to embrace and kiss her boyfriend backstage .

As Swift kicks off the 2024 leg of her two-year tour, Travis intends to spend his offseason accompanying her. An insider told PEOPLE that the pair “are making plans for the summer and are excited to travel together in Europe when Taylor takes her tour there."

Selena Gomez and her sister clutch on to each other while attending Taylor Swift's concert

Selena Gomez and her sister certainly are embracing Taylor Swift's Eras Tour .

On Aug. 8, the “Only Murders in the Building” actor showed up at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium for Swift's Eras Tour. In a series of posts shared to her Instagram story, the actor gave fans a look into the emotional experience.

In her first post from the night, Gomez shared a video of herself enjoying the concert with her 10-year-old sister , Gracie Elliot Teefey .

Selena Gomez with her sister, Gracie Elliot Teefey.

In the video, Gomez sings along to “Lover” while holding Gracie and swaying with her in her arms.

For her next post, Gomez showed off her wrist, stacked with friendship bracelets that she collected from fans.

Gomez showed her beaded best friends bracelet.

“Thank you to the fans that traded with me,” she captioned her post.

This was Gomez's second time seeing Swift, her close friend, perform in this world tour. Gomez also attended with her younger sister in Arlington, Texas.

And she is just one of many celebrities who have flocked to stadiums near and far to attend one of the Eras Tour shows. Here’s a look at some of the famous faces showing up to see Swift perform.

The Bryant family

In August, the Bryant family gathered together to see Swift in concert at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The show proved memorable for Kobe Bryant's widow, Vanessa Bryant, and her daughters when Swift took a moment from her show to give  Kobe Bryant’s daughter Bianka a hug and  gifted her with her black hat during her "22" performance .

Vanessa Bryant shared a series of posts on Instagram and gave fans a look into her experience with a picture of Bianka hugging Swift and another photo of a jean jacket that she bedazzled with a photo featuring Swift and Kobe.

“So special,” she captioned one of the posts. “Bianka &  @taylorswift .”

Emma Watson and Este Haim

The “Harry Potter” actor and the singer were spotted having the time of their lives at a VIP tent during the singer’s Vegas stop.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the “La La Land” actor counted herself lucky for getting the Swift hook up for the concert.

“I’ve known her since we were 17 and 18, so she hooked me up, which was very nice ’cause I know those tickets are impossible to get,” Stone  told the magazine of the experience in June .

Shania Twain

The Canadian country music singer shared a video of herself enjoying the concert during the early leg of the tour. In the video, the singer could be seen twirling and dancing as Swift performed on stage.

Reese Witherspoon

The “Legally Blonde” actor became one of many fans and stars to attend the singer’s concert in May. Witherspoon filmed from the stands and later called the performance “inspired” in a video post shared to her Instagram page.

“What a night to remember !” she captioned the post. “ @taylorswift  in front of 70,000 incredible fans. The stellar song choices , inspired choreography, other-worldly art design ... an incredible night to dance, sing and feel so much JOY .. thank you  @taylorswift  and the whole ERAS tour team for shining so bright tonight.”

Chloë Grace Moretz

Video of the “Nimona” actor showed her singing at the top of her lungs to the Swift classic “Love Story” during the Las Vegas stop of the tour.

Blake Lively

For Swift’s May 12 concert, the actor gave a shout to the “A Simple Favor” actor and her two daughters, who were in attendance. According to  Billboard , Swift mouthed, “Hi, James! Hi, Nezzy!” to the little ones while on stage.

The supermodel has attended multiple stops of the tour, including Santa Clara, California. She made an appearance on the makeup artist Patrick Ta’s Instagram, fan-girling and singing along to Swift’s “Cruel Summer.”

“I Want To Bottle This Moment Up Forever  #ERASTOUR ,” Ta captured the post featuring Hadid.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson

The “Modern Family” actor showed up for Swift’s concert at SoFi Stadium and paid tribute to the singer’s appearance in the 2019 musical “Cats.” Dressed in a classic “Cats” black T-shirt, the actor took selfies with his husband, Justin Mikita.

“ @taylorswift  really did that!” he captioned the post. “3.5 hours of pure joy. Superhuman. Love you, T.”

Taylor Lautner and wife Taylor Lautner

The “Twilight” actor and his wife showed up for the singer — whom he dated briefly in the 2000s — at her July 7 show in Kansas City, Missouri, to debut the "I Can See You" music video he starred in, and they s hared behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram .

In a post shared on her Instagram, Lautner’s wife, also named Taylor Lautner, thanked Swift for her different eras and for inviting her backstage.

“Everything that @taylorlautner said last night on stage is so true,” Lautner   captioned the post . “@taylorswift, you are not only one of the most talented people to ever walk this earth (truly don’t think there is anything you can’t do) but you are also one of THE kindest people.”

In a post shared to her Instagram page, the “Big Little Lies” actor revealed that she is also a Swiftie.

“Celebrating our amazing buddy’s first show of the tour. Extraordinary. Found family.  #ErasTour ,” she captioned her  post  for the photograph, which featured her taking a picture with Swift alongside her daughter Jaya Harper and son Ellery Harper.

Mariska Hargitay and Cara Delevingne

Nearly a decade after appearing in Swift's music video for “Bad Blood,” the “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” star and model appeared amongst the mass of Swifties to watch her perform. Hargitay commemorated the evening with a selfie alongside Delevingne, which she shared on Instagram.

“ @caradelevingne  and me had a lil  #BadBlood  reunion.  #MotherChucker   #Justice   #BandAidsDontFixBulletHoles ,” she captioned the post.

Lin-Manuel Miranda

The Broadway star attended Swift’s MetLife Stadium concert in New Jersey. He shared a moment from the show with a selfie featuring actor Molly Ringwald on Instagram.

“…what if I told you I’m a mastermind,” Miranda captioned the post. “( @taylorswift  ftw, what an incredible show).”

Molly Ringwald

The “Pretty in Pink” actor also shared photos of her experience at the concert on the same night.  Ringwald attended the concert with her daughter Adele  and posted a photo of the teen looking on at the singer on stage.

“There are certain moments in a girl’s life that are unforgettable ...,” she captioned the photo featured on her Instagram story. “Thank you Taylor Swift.”

The “Wonder Woman” star and her children attended Swift’s May 27 show.

“Even with one happy and sleepy child, I had the best time. @taylorswift you’re an inspiration,” Gadot captioned a post that she shared to her Instagram Story, which featured a video of her dancing to “Shake It Off” as one of her children slept on her shoulder.

Jenny Han  and Lola Tung

As if 2023 wasn't already a big year for the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and “To All The Boys I've Loved Before” author Jenny Han! Han attended a tour stop with Lola Tung, who plays Belly in Amazon’s adaptation of "The Summer I Turned Pretty."

In a post shared to her Instagram Story, Han shared a selfie of herself alongside Tung writing over it, “Guess where we’re headed.”

Aaron Rodgers

The football player also attended Swift’s MetLife Stadium concert on May 27 and celebrated the experience with a post to his own Instagram story.

“Taylor time,” he captioned the post.

The NFL defensive end has been a longtime Swiftie. So it was no surprise when he raved about attending Swift’s concert back in March. The former Arizona Cardinals player applauded Swift for spell-binding performance, noting. “You can tell when someone is trying to do something at the top of their game,” he said.

Cheapest destinations to see Taylor Swift concerts from 'Eras Tour' abroad

Are you a Florida Swiftie with “Eras Tour” FOMO?

It’s definitely too late to find a ticket to Taylor Swift’s October concerts in Miami for less than $2,000.

But you can see an “Eras Tour” show in Warsaw, Poland, on Aug. 1, 2024, for about $500 cheaper than the cheapest concert ticket for a Miami show in October (including a roundtrip plane ticket to Poland, from Miami ).

Travel website Islands.com just released a study on the cheapest overseas destinations for seeing Miss Americana on the European leg of her tour.

To calculate the cheapest overseas shows on Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” this summer, Islands.com aggregated data on each city to find the average most affordable concert tickets, the average cost for two days of spending on hotel rooms, meals, drinks and transportation in each city and each city's safety score.

Here’s the Islands.com list of the cheapest shows on the next leg of Taylor Swift’s tour and how much the cheapest plane tickets from Florida to the cheapest European concert are.

Does “The Eras Tour” come to Europe?

Yes! After a wildly successful first run of “The Eras Tour” in the U.S. in 2023, Taylor Swift extended her tour to an international one and will start performing in Europe this summer before returning for more U.S. shows in the fall.

Here’s Islands.com’s list of the Top 10 cheapest places to see Taylor Swift in Europe this summer, including two days’ worth of hotel, food, drink and transportation costs for each city:

  • Warsaw, Poland: $443 cheapest concert ticket price, $712 total lowest average cost
  • Gelsenkirchen, Germany: $387 cheapest concert ticket price, $749 total lowest average cost
  • Hamburg, Germany: $411 cheapest concert ticket price, $903 total lowest average cost
  • Stockholm, Sweden: $406 cheapest concert ticket price, $935 total lowest average cost
  • Paris, France: $313 cheapest concert ticket price, $971 total lowest average cost
  • Munich, Germany: $472 cheapest concert ticket price, $1,000 total lowest average cost
  • Lisbon, Portugal: $507 cheapest concert ticket price, $1,028 total lowest average cost
  • Lyon, France: $582 cheapest concert ticket price, $1,047 total lowest average cost
  • Cardiff, UK: $679 cheapest concert ticket price, $1,061 total lowest average cost
  • Vienna , Austria: $496 cheapest concert ticket price, $1,089 total lowest average cost

Does Taylor Swift perform in Poland?

Yes! Taylor Swift will be performing for three nights in Warsaw, from Thursday, Aug. 1, through Saturday, Aug. 3.

The cheapest ticket to see Taylor Swift perform in Warsaw, Poland in August is about $1,500 cheaper than the cheapest ticket to catch one of her Miami shows in October.

As of April, via Google Flights, you can buy a roundtrip plane ticket from Miami to Warsaw (with two layovers) for around $800 .

Add that $800 plane ticket to the around $500 it will cost for a concert ticket and the extra $200 to $300 you’ll spend in two days of visiting Warsaw, and the grand total comes out to a maximum of around $1,600, which is still $400 cheaper than the cheapest ticket to a Miami show.

Likan7  .

A k tomu i velmi dobrá zpěvačka. ( 09.02.2024 )

M.i.k.e

Nice . Na konec bych tedy ještě jednou rád vyzdvihl celkový vizuál, to je prostě top notch . A zajisté, Taylor vypadala výborně a předvedla životní výkon . Výborné. 5/5 ( 14.12.2023 )

Streeper

( 12.01.2024 )

The Top 12 Things to Do in Omsk

Feel the love in the very heart of Russia

In Russia, all roads lead to Moscow , on account of the city's status as the national capital and its importance throughout history. If geography were the deciding factor, however, the Siberian city of Omsk would be the point where all Russia's roads converge—it's located literally in the heart of the country, approximately as far from Vladivostok as it is from the Belarusian border. Omsk boasts a spate of exciting attractions, even if you simply make a stop here as you ride the Trans-Siberian Railway eastward or westward.

Marvel at Assumption Cathedral

Orthodox architecture never gets old, even if you've been traveling in Russia for a long time. This is particularly the case when it comes to the Assumption Cathedral of Omsk, whose gold-and-turquoise domes look resplendent under the blue skies that bless Omsk during the warmer months of the year. The cathedral was built in 1891 under the orders Nicholas, the last Tsar of Russia.

Time Travel at Omsk Fortress

Ogg-omsk/Wikimedia Commons/CC BY-SA 3.0

The bad news? Much of what was once Omsk Fortress is now a residential area, with the only notable landmark that still stands being Tobolsk Gate (think Paris' Arc de Triomphe , but yellow and smaller). The good news? There's essentially no reason for a military fortification to exist in today's peaceful Omsk, which means you can stroll amid parks and cafés and imagine the area being war-torn—a small sacrifice to make in exchange for not being blown to bits.

Go Green at Ptich'ya Gavan'

Forinrap/Wikimedia Commons/CC BY-SA 4.0

Or white, as it were: Omsk is covered with snow several months of the year, which means that its prized Ptich'ya Gavan' central park is often more of a winter wonderland than the green reprieve you experience in summer. The park is popular with local families, to whom you can say "Privet" (Hello) as you walk past.

Walk on Omsk's Artsy Side

G0rn/Wikimedia Commons/CC BY 3.0

Although the building that houses Omsk District Museum of Visual Arts is unmistakably Russian, the collection you find inside is surprisingly eclectic for a city deep in Russia's interior. Recent collections have included a revival of Van Gogh's great works, among others. This is a particularly enjoyable Omsk attraction on cold winter days, when temperatures can drop far below freezing and sunshine can be rare.

Shoot for the Moon

Worldwide Planetarium Database

Though Omsk is a relatively large city, the skies over it become dark enough in the evening for stargazing. While visitors are not permitted to use the expensive telescopes housed inside, exhibits inside the museum provide a fascinating look into the cosmos, narrated by expert astronomical guides.

Shop on Lenin Street

yykkaa/Getty Images

Lenin Street's name is appropriate: Although it's the high street of a city thousands of miles from Moscow, the European-style architecture and cosmopolitan vibe you feel as you stroll past its boutique and cafés evokes the capital of Russia more than its forlorn interior. Local specialties you can purchase here include rustic jams made from local berries (and even, in some shops, cedar cones), as well as handmade rugs from Kazakhstan, which sits just south of Omsk.

Sample Siberian Cuisine

Quynh Anh Nguyen/Getty Images

Speaking of unique Siberian food, it's not just preserves made from the fruits of evergreen trees. Omsk is a great place to discover the flavors of Russia's wild interior, whether you eat zagutai and stroganini (Siberia's take on sushi) or classic Russian plmeni dumplings filled with decidedly Siberian ingredients, such as bear and rabbit meat. Vkusno ! (That's Russian for "delicious"!)

Enjoy Historical Houses—While You Still Can

Simon Richmond/Getty Images

The wooden houses that line Nikolskiy Prospekt aren't protected, but they should be. Historical structures that are unfortunately in a state of disrepair, these houses are slated for demolition at some unspecific point in the future. Be sure to catch a glimpse of these historical house before they're gone. There will, however, be at least one left standing for a long time. The Omsk State Art Museum is in a traditional wooden house.

Go to the Circus

Vladislav Domnich/Getty Images

Omsk State Circus is a popular spot for local families, whose children love the opportunity to see acrobatic performances and animals that wouldn't otherwise make appearance in Siberia. If you do attend a show here, keep in mind that ethics with regard to animal treatment might not match up with those in North America or Western Europe, to say nothing of the smell that can pervade the auditorium during and even after a show.

Be a Drama Queen

While there's no guarantee that any shows will be playing at Omsk Drama Theater at the time of your trip, a visit to this 19th century building is a spectacle in and of itself. While not as huge, say, as Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre, it's nonetheless an ornate architectural wonder that hearkens back to a glorious time in history. The interior of the theater is even open during the daytime; ask the person who's inside if any tours are available when you turn up.

Explore Cities Deeper in Siberia

Tuul & Bruno Morandi/Getty Images

Siberia starts in Omsk, even if you can't continue far into it. If you don't plan to travel on the Trans-Siberian Railway, take one of two day trips from Omsk. Travel to Tobolsk, whose hilltop Kremlin is one of the most picturesque in all of Russia, and whose beauty inspired a photo by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that ended up winning several awards. Or visit Tomsk, where you'll find a botanical garden dedicated to Siberian flora, and a museum that celebrates wooden architecture.

Ride the Trans-Siberian Railway

 lvinst/Getty Images

The idea of leaving Omsk behind can seem difficult, especially now that you've gotten to know this city in the heart of Siberia as well as you have. The mint-colored facade of Omsk Railway Station will make you smile, however, even if you're crying inside as you depart. Though it's not quite on the mid-line of the Trans-Siberian route between Moscow and Beijing , Omsk is a worthy starting place to begin a journey to either. If you head east make sure to stop in Irkutsk , the home of Lake Baikal and another underrated Siberian city.

Omsk Tour (1983)

This tour followed the very successful Omsk album and their first top 10 hit: Nescio. This meant a lot of new fans first got the chance to see the nits play live. The much more acoustic and natural sound of the album (compared to earlier albums) was only partly brought to the stage. In a lot of songs they still sounded much like the previous tours, but the seeds for the more acoustic and melodic band they would become a few years later were definitely planted with this tour. The Nits visited the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, France and Great Britain this time. They toured between January and October of 1983. The next month they would already be touring with their new album Kilo, but that was more or less a continuation of this tour with a few changes in the setlist. Also noteworthy is that this was the first tour with Robert Jan as an official band member. After being a temporary replacement during the Work tour, he became an official Nit during the recording of the Omsk album.

This was the second tour in this line-up. This time Robert Jan had become a full-time band member. On the previous tour he was a last minute replacement for bassist Alex Roelofs. This time Robert Jan concentrated more on melodies, but his keyboard bass was still very much present.

Henk Hofstede: vocals, keyboards, guitar, lyra, marimba Michiel Peters: vocals, guitar, bass, trumpet, keyboards, lyra, marimba Rob Kloet: drums, vocals Robert Jan Stips: keyboards, synth-bass, marimba, vocals, trumpet

As with all the early tours the stage setup was rather simple. A backdrop with the album cover was probably used. Some photos of a concert from 1983 can be found in the photo section (click on the link in the left frame).

As can be expected, most songs came from the most recent Omsk album, but far from all Omsk songs were played. The setlist concentrated most on the more up tempo and/or spectacular songs of the album, while the more subtle tunes were mostly ignored. Two Omsk b-sides (man of straw and clean shirt in Paris) and two songs (wake up and how the west got lost) from Robert Jan's solo album were played . Plenty of songs from previous albums were also played. There used to be only festival or incomplete recordings from this tour, but now there are some Nits Archive tapes that clear up several things. This tour marked the live debut of two nits classics: nescio and a touch of henry moore.

Overview of all the (known) songs played:

Clean shirt in paris.

This beautiful song was the b-side on the vermilion pencil single and can also be found as a bonus track on the Omsk cd. I really like this song a lot. It foreshadows the French atmosphere of adieu, sweet bahnof with its accordion sound. That typical, percussive repetitive sound that continues throughout the song really works well with the song. Live it was one of the most subtle songs they played. The song was the first encore at the Roskilde festival concert and it was introduced by Henk as a song about 'Grace Jones in Paris who puts on a new shirt'. Hmmm, I didn't get that myself from the lyrics.. The song was played very similar to the album version with the repetitive sound, the bell and accordion synth sounds and the 'French' guitar playing. Michiel provided backing vocals. The musicianship on this performance was excellent, luckily there are now more version available, although they're all rather similar.

This was a bit strange. The actual song wasn't played too different from the album version, but at the Roskilde concert the echo-y guitar-only intro segued out of hobbyland, but after about half a minute the bass-line to walter and conny started. The guitar line was continued for a while over the walter and conny bass, but soon it disappeared and W&C was played. Further on in the set the intro was played again and this time it was followed by the complete song. This song was even wilder live than on the Work album, with plenty guitar, fast drumming and long low synth bass. Henk's enthusiastic singing made it complete. The second half of the song was mostly instrumental. A guitar solo over the piano melody was played. The very loud end part featured a keyboard solo.

This tour's version sounded very different than in earlier tours. It started out with the marimba, joined by the synth. After this the full band started and instead of the many synth lines of the original, these were now played on the piano. The percussion was much subtler as well. The song sounded like it could have been on Omsk with this much warmer sound. Robert Jan played many slightly different melodies on the piano and the marimba was often heard again as well. In the instrumental part some synth lines were played as well. Robert Jan and Michiel provided backing vocals. The long instrumental outro featured a pronounced synth bass.

The piano started out this song, accompanied by heavy synth chords. The melody was played on the guitar and some more heavy synth sounds brought the song to the vocal part. Michiel sang lead vocals. The 'my world' and 'in my own time' vocals were done by both Michiel and Henk. For the verses the piano melody was different, but in the 'my world' parts it returned to the same one as in the intro. The song segued into the guitar intro of empty room.

How the west got lost

In the period 1981-1985 this Stips b-side was a regular song in the encores. The cowboy like instrumental started out with the drums, after a while joined by synth bass and the guitar melody. The melody was played a few times, accompanied by Robert Jan who used several sounds for this. At one point Michiel started to play more rhythm guitar, so Robert Jan could play the melodies on his own. This version sounded a lot smoother than it did in the previous tour.

This actually isn't a song. Before the Hilversum radio performance the presenter announced the band, while the nits made some musical sounds behind this. Nothing special.

This song opened the Roskilde concert and I guess it was at normal concerts also the opener. It was played similar to the album version, only heavier. Actually it was performed almost exactly as on the previous Work tour. The intro had tight drumming and piano crashes. After this some spooky keyboard sounds started and finally Henk sang the lyrics. The bass sounds real. So it is quite possible that Michiel played a bass guitar during this song. In the instrumental part more piano crashes and melodies were played.

Man of straw

The b-side to the nescio single and a bonus track on the Omsk cd. The studio version comes over to me as a bit messy, but that fits the song rather well. The live version was a little more tightly played. Over the bouncy beat and the heavy keyboard bass Michiel played a 'dirty' guitar sound. He also sang lead vocals, while Henk provided backing vocals. Robert Jan and Henk provided keyboard touches, melodies and sound effects throughout the song. A rather wild guitar solo was played before a couple of 'man of straw' vocals ended the song.

This was the real breakthrough of the Nits in the Netherlands. Up to date it is still their biggest hit, reaching no. 8 in the top 40. Even in the Dutch mountains didn't reach this. This was also the song that probably made a lot of people come to see the nits play live. The song itself is a sequel to the Dutch book 'de uitvreter' by the writer Nescio. Nescio is Latin for 'I don't know.' Uitvreter is a Dutch word for someone who lives on other people's money. The main character from the book is called Japi and he is the uitvreter. At the end of the book he commits suicide by jumping of a bridge. Henk continued the song by having Japi swim to Italy and calling Nescio, the writer, to tell him he is happy in the Italian paradise. The song was played in the arrangement it was to be played at most of the later tours. As on the Urk version the song started out with just piano and vocals with some of the 'I jumped of a bridge' vocals. At the 'nobody's knocking' some knocking sounds can be heard.. After a while the orchestral sound started and the normal nescio started with the Italian and English sections. To me the bass sounds like it was played on a bass guitar, probably by Michiel. This left the acoustic guitar parts for Henk. Robert Jan's piano melodies were quite impressive, but didn't deviate too much from the album version. Michiel provided a few backing vocals, but not much. The ending consisted of fast acoustic guitar playing and some of the wilder piano melodies.

Nescio (J.H.F. Grnloh, 1882-1961)

The song is driven by the fast drums and the rhythm guitar. Henk's vocals were slightly distorted. After the first verse the song stopped, but after a few seconds it returned. Slow and low keyboard and guitar chords and more drum patterns were part of the rest of the song. Also some sci-fi sound effects were played. The instrumental drum break consisted of a fast and repetitive handclap sound, augmented by heavy guitar power chords. These guitar chords were louder than the ones that are on the original version, but less to the front as the previous tour's version. After this the song returned to the vocal part, but the guitar remained very present for the rest of the song.

Office at night

Some 'movie-like' piano playing and strange, ambient sound effects were played, but a loud 'OH!' by Henk really started this song. It had a heavy synth bass, loud drums and piano touches. The 'and the light falls' parts were sung by Michiel with a lot of echo and it was accompanied by the piano. After this Michiel played some spooky stuff on a trumpet with strong drums and a very heavy synth bass in the background. The song ended with Henk shouting the word 'OH!' again.

At the Work tour this song was played almost as a copy of the album version, but this time around they changed the arrangement. A keyboard bass, synth effects, tight drumming and a strange little piano solo started out the song. After this the familiar melody was played and Henk began singing. The whole sound was very jumpy, especially the piano parts and much more jazzy than the original. On the 'fall' lyrics Henk's voice was distorted and an echo was added. Michiel provided backing vocals. His guitar solo was exactly the same as on the album. A nice instrumental part was present, with guitar and a piano solo over a drums and synth backing. After one last chorus the song ended similar to the album version.

Slip of the tongue

The piano and a sleazy keyboard sound started this song. The drums soon joined. The main melody was played using a real marimba, which made this version very cool and happy sounding. The sleazy keyboard sounds continued in the background. Henk started singing the vocals. The 'be silent' parts were sung both by Henk and Michiel. After the vocal part a harpsichord was played for a short time, but then the very strong guitar solo by Michiel started. The second half of the song was mostly instrumental and featured a long, slow synth solo over a very jazzy backing . The intensity and speed varied throughout the instrumental part. After the synth solo the jazzy music continued and some vocals were sung over it. With the singing also more guitar touches were added. A very dramatic ending concluded this great version of this song. Walter Schppi thinks that there was a real trumpet in this song, played by Robert Jan.

Spirits awake

This started out with ticking percussion and a rhythmic piano melody. After a while a sparse synth bass and the kick drum entered. When Michiel began singing a higher synth sound was also played. In the background the piano changed from the rhythmic melody to a more subtle kind of music. The line 'spirits awake' had a lot of echo on the vocal. In the instrumental parts the piano returned to the intro, but with added sound effects. Henk sang a few backing vocals. The 'Did you see the garden girls go by?' part featured more echoes and sound effects. This very subtle performance ended with just the ticking percussion.

Suddenly I met your face

Another Work song. This featured a very hyperactive synth sound and a weird drum rhythm. The piano provided the main melody. Henk sang lead vocals, while Michiel provided the background vocals. After a while a piano crashes and a jazzy part started. A trumpet-synth solo was played, sounding a lot like the famous jazz song 'take 5'. Some drum effects were played by Rob and the vocals returned over the jazzy backing. A piano crash ended the song.

Tons of ink

'Yo-oh-oh' shouts over a staccato beat started out this song. It wasn't yet the sing along it would become a couple of years later, so it was only the four band members that sang these vocals. At least two different versions were played during this tour. The version that was played at Roskilde featured a piano by Robert Jan that made the song much more fluent, while in Hilversum another keyboard sound, somewhat similar to the typical percussive 'clean shirt in Paris' sound, was used and the song remained much more staccato because of this. In the chorus strange keyboard sounds and drum effects were played. In Roskilde a solo using a whistle sound was played, it basically was the main melody that was played in this solo. In Hilversum the solo was shorter and Robert Jan used a different sound. As mentioned before no sing along version this tour, but a very Chinese sounding ending was played.

a Touch of Henry Moore

Inspired by a visit to the Dutch Krller-Mller museum, where there is a sculpture by English artist Henry Moore Henk wrote this song. After his visit he met a woman he knew from a long time ago, this is also in the lyrics. Henk also mentions Barbara Hepworth, who's workshop in France he visited. The sounds in the song represent sculpting. In various tours this was also very visually done. This is the live debut version of this song, and it wasn't as weird as it would get in later years. Still it was a remarkable song in between the rest of the songs. Robert Jan improvised around the main theme with the typical keyboard sounds. Rob provided a cool drum rhythm. The bass sounds like a real one, not a keyboard bass, so probably Michiel played it. He also sang the 'sometimes' lyrics. An up tempo instrumental part with extra piano bits was also present in the song. The vocals continue over this part. There were multiple instrumental parts in the song and they were all very nice. As with most later versions of the song the chorus of 'a touch of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth' were not present. I believe they were sung for the first time live in 1994! An 'and I am looking' ended this version of this song.

Henry Moore (1898-1986)

A reclining figure (made of brass and steel) by henry moore, tutti ragazzi.

This was one of the two songs from Tent that were played. Pinball-like synth sounds started it. After the song started an undistorted guitar was played by Michiel. Later he switched to a slightly distorted guitar. The keyboard touches and melodies were stranger than in previous tours. The telstar quote in one of the instrumental parts was still present. Rob's great drumming also must be mentioned. It was quite far removed from the very tight original, but this version is a lot of fun to hear.

Unpleasant surprise

This was played very similar to the album version, maybe it was a little bit more bouncy. The driving force of the song was the heavy keyboard bass. Michiel sang lead vocals. Henk sang backing vocals in the 'finally you got to face it' parts. There was a lot of keyboard action in this song by both Henk and Robert Jan. Besides the synth bass I can identify (real?) marimba, sax, piano, bell and one or two other sounds. The rather abrupt two note ending concluded the song.

the Vermillion pencil

I never really understood what the lyrics of this song are about, but I do like this song. After a keyboard intro the guitar, keyboard bass and drums set off this song. This song featured some very nice playing and singing. The main instrument was the piano. The beat remained rather straightforward. Michiel played acoustic guitar throughout the song. Especially in the short instrumental part his playing was very good. The song had the same 'Scottish' ending as on the album. Robert Jan didn't use a bagpipe sound though. In Roskilde he used an organ sound and in Hilversum he and Henk both played it, using different sounds, but this ended up quite messy.

This song from Robert Jan's solo album 'U.P.' was played for the second tour in a row. It is a heavy guitar song, much wilder than the Nits usually sound. It was played similar to the album with Robert Jan taking the lead vocals in the verses, while Henk took the lead vocals in the choruses. Michiel got the chance to play a lot of rock guitar and he even had a rather long solo.

Walls have ears

A song about gossip and the tabloid journalism. This song has a very Chinese sound. It was played similar to the album. Electronic handclaps can be heard in the song and there was a cool instrumental part with plenty fast and slow multiple melodies. Henk's singing sounded quite angry, like he took the subject somewhat personal. But I can't imagine the tabloid press going after Henk...

Walter and Conny

This instrumental from the Omsk album was one of the first songs Robert Jan wrote for the Nits. Walter and Conny were two TV-personalities on Dutch TV in the 60s that thought people to speak English. In 1993 the Nits made a jam on some samples from the original walter and conny voices (see Ting tour page : walter and conny as cooks). The main driving force was the persistent keyboard bass and the jazzy drumming. Robert Jan played the many melodies on piano and several bright keyboard sounds. Halfway through a nice break was played. The ending of the song was rather abrupt. In Roskilde it segued out of the intro to empty room and this guitar intro was continued for a short time over the walter and conny bass.

the Young reporter

The second song from Tent that was played. In the intro and in the ending sharp drum sounds and a keyboard were played. The song was very much organ-driven, played more freely than the original version. Michiel played guitar, but wasn't very much to the front in the mix. He also provided backing vocals and the 'hands up' ending. At the Roskilde concert this was the last song that was played as the final encore.

Anti-Israel protesters are singing and celebrating as Columbia University squashed rumors of looming campus lockdowns and mass evictions over the ongoing “tent city” demonstration .

The school administration, which has been slammed for repeatedly bowing to protesters, said that negotiations with the students are moving forward despite the Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine group claiming that the university was threatening to lay down the hammer.

“We want to be clear: There is no truth to claims of an impending lockdown or evictions on campus,” the administration said in a statement Saturday night.

Thee SJP accused the university of changing its tune under pressure after having planned the lockdown and evictions. The group claimed Columbia scheduled a briefing that was meant to allegedly announce the warning on Saturday night.

“We will not be deterred by an administration that continues to threaten students & engage in bad faith,” the SJP said.

Following the administration’s latest promise not to crack down on the demonstrations, protesters could be seen celebrating and carrying on with songs and chants at the encampment in the Manhattan campus on Sunday.

“Say it clear, say it loud, Palestine will make us proud,” the students rejoiced.

The protest has also spread outside the Manhattan campus.

The protesters appeared to be in it for the long-haul after already more than a week of demonstrations, with students seen handing out bags of chips, fresh pasta, fried chicken, and even offering vegan and Kosher options.

One Jewish student at the protest, who identified himself as Jared, 26, said he stands alongside the demonstrators because he believes “Jewish safety requires Palestinian liberation.”

“We don’t feel safer if there is a government full of violent people that claim to do things on our behalf that commit atrocities,” Jared said of the war in Gaza.

Jared, who said he had to explain to his grandparents that he didn’t not support Hamas nor did they fund the protest. He also noted there are many Jewish students who were suspended for taking part in the protest.

Although the protesters received backlash last week following antisemitic chants heard resonating in the camp, Jared suggested the university was also guilty of antisemitism.

“For a university that is suppressing and trying to silence dissent, claiming to do it out of the interest of Jewish students, they’re certainly suspending a lot of Jewish students for participating,” Jared added.

The length of the protest is also seeing students share the showers and laundry facilities at their dorms with suspended students who lost access to the buildings.

“Everyone is pretty gross,” one student told The Post of the protesters’ hygiene.

Some of the protesters also appeared to tout the fact that they were arrested during the initial police raid on the campus that unsuccessfully sought to clear out the tents.

“Bold – Beautiful – Arrested,” one sign over a tent read.

One student had a tent with a sign that read, "Intifada."

The students appeared more organized than in the first days of the chaotic protest, with security made up of students and some faculty stationed around the gate to keep out non-demonstrators, as well as “Zionists.”

Reporters and photographers were also being kept away from the protesters because they might not feel “comfortable.”

The students have repeatedly stated that they will not leave the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” until the university meets their demands to divest from Israel and grant amnesty to the students who have been arrested, suspended or put on probation over the protests.

Columbia President Minouche Shafik has been repeatedly slammed for failing to quell the protest, with Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan becoming the latest figure to demand action from the college.

Columbia University president Minouche Shafik

“When thousands of Columbia faculty, staff and students call for the elimination of the State of Israel and the abolition of Zionism, you must take a stand,” Dayan wrote in a letter published on X .

Dayan likened the protesters to the Ku Klux Klan and urged Shafik to put an end to the demonstration, saying the ongoing protest serves no purpose at the Ivy League college.

“A great moral conflict was delivered to your doorstep,” Dayan added. “Rise to the occasion. Lead with moral principles, not only administrative regulations. Speak up.”

At the beginning of the 20th century, Russian chemist and photographer Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky developed a complex process for vivid color photography. His vision of photography as a form of education and enlightenment was demonstrated with special clarity through his images of architectural monuments in the historic sites throughout the Russian heartland.

In June 1912, Prokudin-Gorsky ventured into western Siberia as part of a commission to document the Kama-Tobolsk Waterway, a link between the European and Asian sides of the Ural Mountains. The town of Tyumen served as his launching point for productive journeys that included Shchadrinsk (established in 1662 on the Iset River) and Yalutorovsk (on the Tobol River).

Omsk origins

Founded in 1659 at a former Tatar settlement, Yalutorovsk was the construction site of a massive railroad bridge across the Tobol River, part of the new Tyumen-Omsk rail link that opened on the Trans-Siberian Railway in October 1913 (Before then, the railroad to Siberia went through the southern Urals town of Chelyabinsk ).

Although Prokudin-Gorsky did not travel to Omsk, his photographs of Yalutorovsk show the making of a crucial rail link to the “capital” of western Siberia. I, however, reached Omsk in the late Summer of 1999.

Omsk (current population around 1,110,000) was founded in 1716 as a fort on the middle reaches of the Irtysh River. During the 18th century, its primary purpose was to protect Russia’s southern border and establish authority over the aboriginal steppe tribes.

Rising regional importance

Although administratively subordinate to Tobolsk throughout the 18th century, Omsk gained increasing power in the 19th century. From 1808 until 1917, Omsk served as the headquarters of all Siberian Cossack troops and, in 1822, a separate Omsk Province was formed.

Shortly thereafter, construction began on the Cossack Cathedral of St. Nicholas (1833-1840), based on a plan by the noted Russian architect Vasily Stasov. The St. Nicholas Cathedral was severely disfigured during the Soviet period, but has now been restored. It is, once again, the repository of one of the area’s great relics, the banner of Yermak , the late 16th-century Cossack leader who first established Muscovy’s presence in Siberia.

In 1865-1870, Omsk witnessed the construction of another cathedral, dedicated to the Elevation of the Cross. It, too, survived the devastation of the 1930s and was reopened for worship in November 1943. In addition to its Orthodox churches, Omsk has mosques (the administration of the Iman of Siberia is located in Omsk), a remarkable wooden synagogue and a large Baptist church built in 1907.

Its pervasive military presence linked Omsk with the Siberian exile system. The most famous of the fortress’ exiles was the writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, condemned in 1849 for associating with intellectual “radicals” in St. Petersburg. In January 1850, Dostoevsky arrived under guard at the Omsk fort and, for the most part of three years (1850-54), he lived the harrowing existence of a convict sentenced to hard labor, which included unloading barges on the Irtysh River.

When his health broke down under the physical and psychological strain, Dostoevsky was hospitalized under the care of a sympathetic medic. It was during his stay in the infirmary that Dostoevsky began the writing of one of his seminal works, ‘Notes from the House of the Dead’. A few buildings still survive from that time, including one of the fortress gates.

During the latter part of the 19th century, Omsk began a period of heady expansion, as the town became a transportation center for Russia’s vast interior. Regular steamboat service along the Irtysh River to Tobolsk began in 1862.

But, it was the railroads that made Omsk a boomtown. In 1894-1895, Omsk was linked by the Trans-Siberian Railroad to Chelyabinsk in the west and Novonikolaevsk (later Novosibirsk) in the east. In 1913, another rail line was completed from Omsk to Tyumen in what would become the new Siberian mainline. By the beginning of the 20th century, the population of Omsk had tripled to over 60,000 inhabitants.

This development as a transportation nexus led to a surge in the city’s commercial district.  What had formerly been a provincial garrison town consisting primarily of wooden structures punctuated with large churches, now became a preeminent site for banks, educational institutions, industry and retail trade in Siberia.

International appeal

In addition to branch offices for major banks and firms in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Omsk received investment from companies in the United States, Germany and Great Britain. The central part of Omsk had buildings whose design rivaled Moscow’s business district. Many of the new commercial projects were built in styles derived from the Florentine Renaissance.

Cultural institutions also took root. In 1901-05, a large theater was built in a florid Beaux Arts style designed by the architect Iliodor Khvorinov. The theater still stands as an object of civic pride. Wooden houses with decorative detailing also grace the city, but their number has steadily decreased under the pressures of urban development and inadequate maintenance.

During World War I, the then strategically located Omsk grew still further and, by 1917, the city’s population had reached 100,000. Following the October Revolution, Bolshevik power was proclaimed almost immediately in Omsk, but, with little local support, the Bolsheviks were driven from the city in June 1918.

Opposition to the Bolsheviks was fatally divided and, in November 1918, a military coup installed a dictatorship headed by Admiral Alexander Kolchak (1874-1920), a renowned polar explorer and gifted naval commander, but incapable of dealing with the chaos of the Russian civil war (The mansion where Kolchak had his headquarters is a prominent landmark).

For almost a year, Omsk could be considered the “capital” of the White forces in the Russian Civil War. In November 1919, Kolchak’s forces were driven from Omsk. In 1921, Omsk became one of the centers of the American Relief Agency during the terrible famine that afflicted vast territories in the Volga basin.

With its economy shattered and the countryside still recovering, Omsk struggled through the 1920s and achieved renewed industrial growth in the 1930s. Like many Siberian cities, it expanded rapidly during World War II as an evacuation haven and as a center of transportation and production.

In the early 20th century, Russian photographer Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky developed a complex process for color photography. Between 1903 and 1916, he traveled through the Russian Empire and took over 2,000 photographs with the process, which involved three exposures on a glass plate. In August 1918, he left Russia and ultimately resettled in France, where he was reunited with a large part of his collection of glass negatives, as well as 13 albums of contact prints. After his death in Paris in 1944, his heirs sold the collection to the Library of Congress. In the early 21st century, the Library digitized the Prokudin-Gorsky Collection and made it freely available to the global public. A few Russian websites now have versions of the collection. In 1986, the architectural historian and photographer William Brumfield organized the first exhibit of Prokudin-Gorsky photographs at the Library of Congress. Over a period of work in Russia beginning in 1970, Brumfield has photographed most of the sites visited by Prokudin-Gorsky. This series of articles juxtaposes Prokudin-Gorsky’s views of architectural monuments with photographs taken by Brumfield decades later.
