The best Bangkok night tours & experiences with locals
When it comes to nightlife, few cities in the world can compete with Thailand’s capital. Bangkok is known for its unforgettable nights, and many travelers flock here for the sole purpose of experiencing Bangkok by night for themselves. With a miles-long list of unbelievable things to do after sunset, the biggest problem with Bangkok night tours is deciding where to begin. On personalized Bangkok night tours with City Unscripted, we’ll do all the work for you and plan the perfect experience in Bangkok to suit your style. With your local guide to reveal all the hotspots and hidden gems of the city’s nightlife scene, the real Bangkok is yours to discover.
Meet some of our Bangkok local hosts
Like the people who travel with us, they have different backgrounds and interests – but they’re all so passionate about the place they call home, they choose to spend their free time sharing it with the like-minded travelers matched to them.
When the beating sun disappears over the horizon, the Bangkok nightlife scene kicks into gear. Nights in the Thai capital have earned their reputation for rowdiness, but on Bangkok night tours, it’s not all crowded nightclubs and bawdy bars (but if that’s your scene, you’ll certainly be spoiled for choice). Night tours in Bangkok with City Unscripted could mean late-night shopping, dinner at a fine dining establishment, or sipping a cocktail at a rooftop bar far above the madness. However you decide to spend your evening, we’ll make sure you’re living it up exactly like the locals do
Bangkok night tours with City Unscripted can go many different ways – it all depends on your mood. We know that every traveler’s idea of the ultimate night out is different, which is why all our Bangkok night tours are 100% personalized to suit your pace. The diversity of Bangkok nightlife means every night owl is catered for. The neon-lit party scene is nothing short of exhilarating and each bar is more buzzing than the last, but if low-key leisure is more your vibe, you could savor street food, cruise along the Chao Phraya, or head to a quiet bar recommended by your guide.
Bangkok may be known for its intoxicating nightlife, but the city’s market scene is just as thrilling as its bars and clubs. Bangkok night tours are the ideal opportunity to explore the city’s markets – and taste some of its most famous food. Bangkok’s iconic night markets are spread out in most areas of the city and come in all shapes and sizes. No matter what time it is, you’ll always have a diverse range of fantastic food and shopping opportunities at your fingertips. Why not try your hand at the local art of bargaining for your bites before grabbing a beer at a no-frills bar?

Explore Bangkok By Tuk Tuk
The tuk tuk is one of the iconic symbols of Bangkok and there is no better way to explore than by tuk tuk at night when there is less traffic and the temperatures are cooler. Expique operates tuk tuks with transparent roofs to enhance the experience.
Visit Wat Prayoon at night, a UNESCO awarded temple
Wat Prayoon temple, a recipient of UNESCO Cultural Heritage Conservation Award of Excellence in 2013 has a rich history of itself. It was built in the reign of the King Rama III which makes this temple approx. 200 years old. The temple features a beautiful white stupa which can be seen from far away due to its big size stupa. This is why this temple is a perfect alternative to Wat Arun temple. NOTE: We use to visit Wat Arun/Wat Pho at night but as of now they are closed for night visits due to construction.
Discover Bangkok’s famous flower Market
Bangkok’s Pak Khlong Talad flower market is a 24 hour a day market and is busiest in the early hours of the morning. We visit as it is getting busy and stop for dessert in our secret location.
Explore local foods
Food is a critical part of Thai Culture and while this is not a full food tour, we do stop for snacks in a local market, dinner at local restaurant and we will finish with dessert.
Dinner at a local restaurant
Typically we will have dinner at a famous local restaurant. However, this cannot be guaranteed as food stops may change as restaurants and markets do close from time to time
Pass the sights as you drive around historic Bangkok
Whilst many of the sights are closed at night, we will get a glimpse of them lit up at night as we drive around the Rattanakosin area. As you drive you will get an orientation of the city.
Learn about local life, culture and beliefs
Throughout the tour our guide will share stories about local life and culture.
Private vs Join In
Join in tours provide a cheaper option for small groups of people but Private Tours allow a more personalised experience.
- Private tours can be run every day and for any number of guests.
- Pick up from hotel is only available for private tour. We customize pick up method based on location to avoid the unpredictable traffic. From some hotels we recommend our guide to escort you on the Skytrain to our normal tuk tuk meeting point (at Krung Thonburi Skytrain Station). Our route however is designed to avoid traffic.
- Private tour allows us to partly customize the tour to meet your needs. Customization may impact the price. This includes add-on option to start with a canal tour (+2,000THB)
- Our tours usually start 5:30pm-6:30pm, but for a private tour we can adjust this between 5pm and 8pm.
- We allow children under 10 years old on private tours and can customize it to the needs of the children.
What To Expect?
The concept:
Bangkok is a city that never sleeps. Its nightlife is legendary, but many of the most beautiful parts of the city are often overlooked at night. On this Bangkok night tour you will travel by tuk tuk to explore Bangkok's markets, temples and food, under the night lights. Seeing the sites at night brings out the true excitement, beauty and mystery of the city.
This is a perfect tour to get to know the city better. Whether it is your first night in the city or you have been many times before, we are confident you will discover something new.
The tour starts on the Thonburi side of the river, which is traditionally more residential.
After meeting the guide and other group members at Krung Thonburi BTS station (the first station once you cross the river), your guide will introduce you to your driver and as a group you will start your journey whizzing around Bangkok.
You will first stop at a local market where we will pick up snacks and explore market life from a locals perspective. You will then continue to a local temple that is beautiful at night, for an introduction to Buddhism and Thai beliefs.
You will then cross the river and visit the local Bangkok night markets including the 24-hour Flower market where the vivid colours come alive under the fluorescent lights, at a time when flowers are starting to get delivered. You will then explore the historic heart of Bangkok. Visit the center of Bangkok old town at The Giant Swing, one of the icons of Bangkok and sightseeing Rattanakosin Island.
Along the way you will stop to sample some of the best food in the city, whether it be random snacks in the first market, a main meal at a local restaurant, or a dessert stop in Chinatown at the end. You will not go hungry so no need to eat beforehand! There are also vegetarian food options available throughout.
At the end of the tour, we will return you to your hotel (within a limited distance) or help you find your way to wherever you are going next.
For most of the tour we will get around by tuk tuk and while we cannot promise it, we will hopefully encounter very little traffic. The tour lasts 4 hours and for those who want to get the full night experiences still have time to check out more of the diverse nightlife.

What You Need To Know
We consider this tour a cultural tour with food: For more adventurous eaters who want a tour which is more focused on food please check out our Evening Food and Tuk Tuk Adventure
Getting to the meeting point: Please allow plenty of time and aim to arrive 15 minutes early. The traffic can be bad, especially in the evening, and we suggest you take public transport and avoid taxi where possible. If you have any issues please call us.
Wat Arun or Wat Pho at night: THIS IS CURRENTLY CLOSED AT NIGHT. So switched to Wat Prayoon, a UNESCO awarded temple. We shall visit Wat Arun or Wat Pho again when they reopen.
Dietary requirements: This tour is suitable for vegetarians, halal, glutten free and other dietary requirements,
Minimum Age: There is a minimum age of 10 years old for this tour. This aimed to maintain the group dynamics. For families with small children we encourage a private tour (we can start earlier and customize) or consider our Family Canal and Tuk Tuk Adventure .
Small amounts of walking are required: The tour also includes walks through markets and temples. It is not suitable for people with wheelchairs. Please contact us if you have difficulty walking and we can advise you on the suitability.
If it rains it is more fun: We run the tour throughout the year and have never had to cancel a tour due to rain. If it rain we have ponchos, rain covers and umbrellas. You may get a little wet but if you bring a positive attitude you may discover it is even more memorable:
Changes to itinerary: The restaurants and food stores we eat at may vary from day to day depending on what's open. On Monday's specifically, Chinatown is very quiet, so we may change final dessert stop.
This is an alcohol free tour and please be aware that it is illegal to drink in the tuk tuk. We reserve the right to stop the tour if there is drunken behaviour. We do provide soft drinks throughout the tour.
Food Safety: We take food safety very seriously and all the places that we eat at we believe are of an acceptable standard and cleanliness to take guests to, but it is impossible to 100% rule out any risk of food poisoning. Our food safety record is very good and we have found it more likely a customer will get sick from food prior to our tour than during it.
Travel by Tuk Tuk:
- - The main mode of transport is tuk tuk. Tuk tuks are small fun vehicles that are open air. However, some people do find them noisy, hot and open to traffic fumes.
- - This tour is at night when the temperature is lower and the tour has been designed to avoid traffic. We find most people enjoy it but are aware that some people will not. Also for people with less mobility getting in and out of a tuk tuk can be harder but we will happily help those who have problems.
- - Several of our tuk tuks now have transparent roofs. However, we cannot guarantee every tuk tuk will have such a roof. We will aim to ensure as many as possible have such roofs.
- - Normally there will be 2 people per tuk tuk, However, when odd number of passengers there may be 3 people per tuk tuk.
Make a Booking:
- - Advanced booking is required.
- - If you have special requests or a large group we can customize this tour as a private tour for you.

The lively capital city of Bangkok is bustling with activity throughout the day and is also overloaded with fun activities at night. There are amazing experiences you can enjoy after dark to explore the culture, traditions, and food of Thailand. Post dawn you can party till wee hours of the morning, shop at local markets, eat yummy street food and explore hidden monuments around the city.
1. Tour of Temples & Monuments
The colourful temples of Bangkok look mesmerizing as they shimmer in the night lights. You can soak in their beauty from various places across the city by booking a guided tour or hopping on public transport. You can take the BTS sky train to the Krung Thonburi station and take a Tuk Tuk ride to Wat Arun, also known as 'The Temple of Dawn'. The temple closes at 4:00 PM, but the exteriors look stunning as they light up at night. Next, you can head to Prime Hotel, for some well-blended cocktails and an uninterrupted view of the shimmering Wat Traimit housing 'The Golden Buddha'. You can then move over to the heart of the city to see the ravishing Wat Pho 'The Temple of Reclining Buddha', which remains open till 6:30 PM. The temple grounds remain open much later into the night, and you can roam around to experience the calmness of the place.
2. Local Markets & Food Tour
Local Markets of Bangkok offer a diverse range of goods and products at reasonable rates. After dark shopping is one of the most popular Bangkok Night Tours as the temperatures are lower. You can explore the Asiatique for buying souvenirs, handicrafts, jewellery, and clothing. The Chang Chui Bangkok Plane Night Market offers modern art pieces made of recycled material. For a more local experience, you can head to the Chatuchak Friday Night Market where you can buy almost anything from handicrafts to books and antiques. The Khaosan Road market is perfect for backpackers. You can buy local stuff and binge on cheap food and drinks on this bustling street. You can also head to the most popular night shopping destinations of Bangkok, the Patpong Night Market for great products available on a bargain.
3. Night Thai Food Tour
Food helps you connect with the culture of a region. Bangkok Night Tours of the food markets allow you to discover local favourites. A local guide helps you visit the best places, and eat local dishes where they are served best. Start your trip from Bangkok’s most popular night food market, the Talad Rodfai Ratchada that remains open every day from 6:00 PM to late night. You can try delicious finger foods, seafood, jumbo-size noodles, fried insects, and traditional Thai desserts here. You can also head to the open-air market on Chao Phraya River, Asiatique on the Riverfront that remains open from 5:00 PM to midnight every day.
Highly recommended dishes are their delightful Thai delicacies like Salmon Salad with Spicy Seafood Dip, Truffle Butter Beef Burger, Beef & Guinness Pie, Shrimp Tempura with Fruits Cream Salad & Tobiko Topping. Street food lovers can eat inexpensive local food at Talad Huay Kwang Night Food Market. The market serves yummy Northeast Thai dishes, Southern Thai Curries and Seafood from 6:00 PM to late night. On Phetchaburi road, you come across the Talad Neon, which is ideal for hipsters. Starting at 4:00 PM this market is open till midnight every day, churning out delectable Thai dishes, grilled seafood, and cocktails.
4. Night Biking Tour
Cycle through the side streets and go on one of the most explorative Bangkok Night Tours for those on a budget. You can rent a bike and discover famous landmarks of the city at night. This cycling tour allows you to explore the city like a local with all essential safety measures in place. You will be accompanied by an experienced English-speaking guide and a small group of other bikers. Starting at the Grand Palace and Sanam Luang, you will cycle through the winding lanes to reach the Chao Phraya River. Cross the river on a ferry to reach the spectacularly illuminated Wat Arun and Wat Pho. Cycle back over the bridge to reach the city’s famous flower market and a daily market. You can shop for local favourites and try mouth-watering street food here before you head back.
5. Cruise with Dinner & Live Music
The dinner cruise takes you on a tour of Bangkok on a traditional Thai vessel. This is one of the luxurious Bangkok Night tours which takes you around the heart of the city on The Chao Phraya river. You can witness the glittering Wat Arun and the Royal Grand Palace while enjoying the regular river life with traditional fishing boats and yachts sailing by. You can make your booking in advance as the occupancy is limited to 50 people on a ship. You can sip on premium wines and cocktails and feast on a delicious four-course Thai meal as you leisurely sail past the shimmering buildings of Bangkok. Live music by local bands adds oomph to the romantic setting leaving you mesmerized at the after-dusk beauty of the city.
6. Tuk Tuk Tour
Bangkok has several means of public transportation, but a Tuk Tuk is the best local transport to discover the hidden gems around the city. Whizzing through the lanes and markets of the city on a Tuk Tuk makes for a fun Bangkok Night Tour. You can get insights into the local life and Thai culture as you visit the offbeat attractions around the city. You can visit popular tourist attractions at night when they are beautifully illuminated. Witness the famous Wat Pho as it glitters against the night sky and marvel at the beauty of Wat Arun at night. The famous flower market also comes to life at night and is a great place to explore as you will find the rarest of flowers here at all times. Chinatown and the neighbouring famous night street food market can also be visited on this tour for shopping and binging on street food.
7. Chinatown Market Tour
China Town is the cultural enclave of Bangkok full of narrow streets and small alleys. From Yaowarat Road to Charoen Krung Road you can explore this place for shopping and eating the best of local food. The area is lively and crowded at night too as it is the hub of wholesale and retail shops selling almost everything. You can also feast on dim sums, oyster omelettes, noodles, and varieties of fresh seafood on Yaowarat Road. You can also try Chinese delicacies at Talat Kao.
Bangkok Night Tours give you an opportunity to behold the Thai culture up close and know how the locals go about their daily life. Some of them are inexpensive, but each of them makes your trip to the bustling capital city of Thailand a memorable one.

Bangkok Nightlife Guide – Drink, Party Hostels and Red Light Districts
If you’re a party animal like me and are thinking about traveling to Bangkok, then there are a few things you’ll need to keep in mind while you make your plans.
Nightlife in Bangkok ranks high in the list of things to do when you’re in the country, and for good reason!
Depending on what you’re looking for, Bangkok has different nightlife areas to cater to your interests and comfort.
Nightlife in Bangkok: street food, night markets and amazing clubs
From the bustling streets of Khao San Road, where backpackers and adventurers unite, to the upscale rooftop bars offering stunning city views, this vibrant city has it all.
I’ve put together a few notes from my recent vacation, which I hope will be a helpful Bangkok nightlife guide to ensure you make the most of your evenings in this electrifying metropolis.
Party atmosphere and heaven for single travelers
Bangkok is often recognized as a top destination for single travelers, with its lively party scene and a welcoming atmosphere.
Whether you’re seeking to mingle, dance the night away, or simply soak in the lively ambiance, you’ll find an array of options to suit your preferences.
Naughty fact: Bangkok is on my list as the top destination for single guys to get laid .
As I share my experiences and insights, you’ll discover not only where to drink and party but also essential safety tips to ensure your nights in Bangkok are memorable for all the right reasons.
Your Guide to Bangkok’s Nighttime Fun
So, get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey through the nightlife of Bangkok, where the city’s energy knows no bounds, and the fun never stops.
Join me as I guide you through the best places to experience the vibrant Bangkok nightlife scene, from the heart-pounding clubs to the laid-back bars that define the essence of this remarkable city after dark.
Best Places to Party in Bangkok
Some of the best areas in Bangkok for nightlife are centered around tourist travel.
It’s no secret that Bangkok parties have the potential to last into the night – so be sure to distribute your time over several Bangkok nightclubs and bars!
Khao San Road, Best Nightlife In Bangkok
Like most travelers, I set up shop in and around Khao San Road, primarily because of its nightlife and also because it is right in the center of the city, well connected to the other parts.
Very quickly, I realized that this area is backpackers HQ – with lots of other people, like me, hopping across Asia and looking for a place to stay at one of the many hotels and hostels here.
Also, most of the people are starting their Bangkok itinerary from here.
This street has a host of inexpensive options where you can grab a drink – from 7/11 stores to the small outlets and restaurants.
Rooftop lounges, special events and best nightclubs
It’s best to pre-game here before you head out to more taxing Bangkok nightlife experiences, mainly because of how affordable this place is and the many discos, karaoke bars, and rooftop lounges.
There are also a lot of fun things to do – you can get a massage , go and chill at the clubs, guzzle down cheap beer, splurge a little on souvenirs at the multiple shops, try nibbling at a few grilled bugs, or even just sit back and enjoy the carnival atmosphere.
Khao San Road is definitely the best place to stay to enjoy at fullest the magical nightlife of Bangkok, Thailand.
Thong Lo (Thonglor)
If you’ve brought along a couple of your better clothes, you might want to head down to the Thong Lo area.
This is a posh part of town, with its specialty and boutique bars catering to stylish and sophisticated Bangkok locals. Your usual tourist tank tops won’t serve you too well here. Some favorites are WTF Bar and Café, Funky Villa, and Demo.
Drinks, per bottle, start from around 1000 Baht, with some places offering free entry during the week.
If you’re uncomfortable with Bangkok’s more vulgar nightlife, rest assured, this area will keep you entertained! Despite its tameness, it still houses some of the top clubs in Bangkok.
Royal City Avenue
Like Thong Lo, Royal City Avenue, or RCA, as it’s more commonly known, is also a great place for refined bar hopping. Frequented by Bangkok high society and ex-pats, RCA has several high-end clubs.
You’ll find most patrons under 25 at some of the most popular clubs, like Route 66, Slim n Flix and Onyx. There’s a 200- 300 Baht cover charge for foreigners, but it comes with 1-2 included drinks too.
You’ll need to get there by 9PM on the weekends to grab a table for yourself. Bottles of vodka start from about 1400 Baht, while the price of beer averages about 150 Baht.
Here, the party lasts a little longer since the bars and clubs keep open till 2 AM. Royal City Avenue has some of the top clubs in Bangkok, and you can truly get a taste of the thrilling side of Bangkok’s nightlife!
Most parties and events here draw huge crowds every night. Silom is home to Maggie Choo – the well-loved, opium den themed bar and lounge, which promises a taste of Asia’s darker luxuries. Silom also hosts parties and raves which are known to be queer-friendly!
Bangkok Red Light Districts
If you’ve heard the raunchy and racy stories of experiences in Bangkok from veteran travelers, you’re probably wondering how to schedule a similar experience for yourself too.
Red-light districts in Bangkok are very well known worldwide and here you can experience a different taste of the infamous Bangkok nightlife, with sex clubs and offerings pushed at the very entry of each nightclub.
Sukhumvit Nana Plaza
I’ll start off with the meanest of Bangkok’s adult entertainment hotspots. Located in the Sukhumvit Area, Nana Plaza is one of three Bangkok’s red-light districts.
Here, Go-Go bars and Ladyboy shows abound, mostly on the first and second floors of the building complex.
When you peek into these clubs, you’ll see women pole-dancing and hanging from railings, grooving to the music clad in scanty bikinis.
Fun vibe all night long
You have the option to sneak a peek and run off the next club before staff grab you and make you order a drink! This area usually is open till 3 AM.
Sukhumvit Soi 11 is home to Climax and the Mixx, and Insanity on Sukhumvit Soi 12 are similar establishments outside the Nana Plaza area, if you find yourself looking for a bit more!
These spots are also widely considered to be a few of the best bars and clubs in Bangkok, according to my fellow hostel mates!
The second of Bangkok’s red-light districts, this is the most visited by curious tourists looking for an exciting story to tell back home. It has the usual set of Go Go bars, Thai Ladyboys or Cabaret dances, strip clubs, and even a bit of shopping.
Like in the Nana Plaza, performers will constantly tease audiences by threatening to take off whatever little they have on them and perform a few standard tricks – shooting bullets, pulling knives hidden in their costumes, and the like.
Patpong: one of the most famous party destinations in Bangkok
There are also a number of gay bars here, with young boys swinging from rails and doing gymnastics tricks.
The Ladyboy shows here are well worth the watch – their performances in colorful costumes and gear are enthralling!
This is a must-do in a nightclub in Bangkok or Thailand!
As you can guess by its name, this is Bangkok’s third main red-light district. Here, the girls and staff at the Go Go bars are not as pushy as in Nana Plaza and Pat Pong, and the drinks aren’t too expensive either.
At Soi Cowboy, you can afford to relax a little and walk through the many establishments till you find a place that offers a price you like. You can enjoy strolling under the blazing neon lights.
As with the other two red-light districts, if you find yourself wanting to spend a night with one of the performers, you’ll have to agree on a price and tell the manager what is called the woman’s ‘magic number’ , which she would have attached somewhere to her clothing.
The ping pong shows are one of the highlights of the night. The bars here stay open till 2 AM.
Once you’ve seen everything that satiates your adult curiosity, you can head over to Bangkok’s Chinatown , at night, which is one of the largest Chinese settlements in the world.

Best Party Hostels – My Favourite Way to Party
If you’re not up to the exhausting city life, then some of the good parties in Bangkok can also be found in hostels too! You certainly wouldn’t have thought hostels to be among Bangkok’s nightlife places! I was surprised until I got there too!
Mad Monkey Hostel
Check price on Booking.com »
Check price on Agoda.com »
Well-loved by young backpackers, Mad Monkey is one of the many party hostels in Bangkok . Most visitors love the pub crawl hosted by the hostel and the walking tours of Bangkok offered during the day.
With lots of loud, thumping music, there’s always a party going on, affording people little sleep here. The pool is a favorite socializing spot, serving the best cure to a hangover from late nights, and is the center of the hostel’s fun pool parties.
Bodega Hostel
Yet another party hostel in town, Bodega stands out with its lively young crowd, all under the age of 35, who stay up through the night. There’s not a minute of silence here with loud music and fun drunken shenanigans every hour of the day.
A bed in Bodega Hostel costs about $6 and comes with all the amenities you may need. Their sun terrace is where most people congregate to party, with parties and drinking games being held in the hostel every day! This is definitely where you’d want to make new friends in your twenties!
Slumber Party Hostel
This party hostel has everything you need if you’re looking for lots of fun in Bangkok.
They host a variety of events for its guests to engage themselves in, like pub crawls (watch Koh Tao Pub Crawl Video ), walking tours during the day, bike tours around Bangkok, and a fan favorite – their epic beer pong tournaments.
Guests at this hostel end up making friends for life. The fantastic hosts are always ready to give good advice to guests on how to make the best use of their time to enjoy Bangkok’s nightlife. Parties last all day and they provide full transport during a pub crawl .

Information about Partying in Bangkok
Dressing for bangkok’s nightclubs.
If you’re heading out to places where upper-class Thai spend their evenings, like in Thong Lo or the Royal City Avenue and rooftop bars, you’ll be expected to dress the part.
The clubs and bars in these areas are just like the high-end ones you’ll find in your home country.
Wild parties, dress code and Thai culture
Most bars in these locales are infamous for enforcing strict dress codes – no tank tops, shorts, and flip-flops here! You’ll be expected to wear closed-toe shoes or sandals, trousers, dresses, and skirts. If you’re worried, one standard pair of loafers should do the trick!
Beer bars and pubs on the Khao San road are lax in this regard – they cater almost exclusively to tourists! Your beachwear will work just fine here! Essentially, dress well when you’re headed to high-end establishments.
Drinking And Smoking
Instead of buying alcohol per glass, buy the whole bottle. It is much cheaper by the bottle, and with a few mixers on the side, you’ll have enough to last the night.
Further, if you’re handed a ‘bucket’, which, quite literally, is a bucket mull of alcohol mix, don’t get too excited.
The mixes are strong and before you know it, you’ll be out like a bulb. Always try and split your bucket with a friend, and if you can’t then sip on it very slowly and make it last through the night. (That’s advice, it doesn’t work for me 🙂
Most of the clubs and bars don’t allow people to smoke indoors. Smoking indoors is outlawed, but if you’re lucky, some establishments will have arrangements for outdoor smoking in particular sections.
Bangkok Nightlife tips including safety tips
- Make sure you have the address of your hotel written down in Thai, in case you’re in an emergency and need to use public transport.
- Avoid tuk-tuks if you can, but if you really have to, then decide on a fare before you begin your ride. Tuk-tuk drivers are known to fleece you bare!
- If you don’t want to end up paying for more than what you drank at a bar, always ask for the price of the alcohol staff offers before you consume it. This is for when they bring you the final bill, they won’t over-charge, which they have a tendency to do.
- You should always carry some form of identification on you, but I suggest you take your national ID or driving license, not your passport.
- Most bars and clubs will check to see if you’re a major (twenty years of age) and will seldom let you in without confirming the same. Also usually that’s a rule mostly for local people, usually, tourists can go inside even without an ID.
- Cover charges to enter bars often include a few complimentary drinks. So, if the cover charge is a bit on the higher side than most, don’t be too apprehensive. You’ll mostly gain it back by saving on the complimentary drinks.
- Also, if the establishment is a bit more expensive , be it the usual beer barn or a Go Go show, there’s a lesser chance of it being ‘shady’ . There won’t be too many strings attached in these places and they’ll leave you to your own devices for the most part.

Safety Mantra: Be Aware
It’s pretty obvious, but the best thing you can do when you go visiting the red light districts in Bangkok is to always be aware. Be mindful of where you’re going, who you’re surrounded by in bars, and what you’re doing.
Further, if you’re not traveling in a group but in a few numbers, make sure you don’t go to places that are secluded and away from the tourist crowds. Everything you need to see and experience is where the hordes of other tourists are.
If individual women or tuk-tuk drivers try getting you to follow them, and especially if you can see that it’s a place off the beaten path, you’re better off not taking them up on the offer.
There you have it! These are a few notes from my holidays in Bangkok. Bangkok really does promise the best nightlife experience in Thailand and some of the best and most unique nightlife experiences in the world.
In addition to some of the best bars and clubs in Thailand, Bangkok hosts unforgettable and must-do things in your lifetime. I hoped these pointers helped you out!
