Skateboarding: How to watch Dew Tour 2022 - preview, schedule & stars

Skateboarding's biggest stars in action at Des Moines, Iowa on July 29 & 30 at Lauridesen Skatepark. Look out for Olympic medallists Rayssa Leal, Nishiya Momiji, Horigome Yuto, Sky Brown, Keegan Palmer,  Yosozumi Sakura, Hiraki Kokona, Kelvin Hoefler, Nakayama Funa and Cory Juneau.

Skateboarding

The world's best skateboarders are returning to Des Moines, Iowa for the 2022 Dew Tour taking place 29-30 July.

Lauridesen Skatepark is the place to be.

The who's who of skateboarding will be in action, including Olympic champions, Keegan Palmer of Australia, and Japan's Yosozumi Sakura , Nishiya Momiji and Horigome Yuto.

The competition is a finals-only event, involving the top street and park skaters from around the world.

Read on to learn more about the event and see which athletes to look out for.

Dew Tour 2022: Stars to watch

After winning Dew Tour 2021, Sakura Yosozumi was dominant at Tokyo 2020 and claimed women's park gold. The 20-year-old is currently ranked number one in the world and is a hot favourite.

Last year's runner-up and Olympic bronze medallist Sky Brown could make her title defence difficult. The 14-year-old is coming off an X Games gold in Southern California on July 23. The Brit claimed top of the podium ahead of Sakura and Olympic silver medallist Hiraki Kokona. At 13 years old, Kokona is another young rider looking to make her mark in the competition. Currently she is third in the world rankings.

The Women's street competition sees 2021 event winner Pamela Rosa return to defend her tile. She will face some stiff competition from her Brazilian compatriot Raysa Leal who earlier this month won the 2022 SLS event in Jacksonville. At just 14 years of age, Leal is a familiar face on the street podium having won gold at X Games in April and silver at Tokyo 2020.

Nishiya Momiji will also be one to watch. The Japanese skater became her countries youngest-ever Olympic champion at the Games in 2021.

Read Olympics.com exclusive chat with the 14-year-old who reflected on her Olympic gold, one year on from her historic win.

Having just taken the World Street Skateboarding competition in Rome, Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Nakayama Funa is also in the mix.

There will be a new champion crowned in the men's street final, with last year's winner, USA's Nyjah Huston not attending this year.

His absence puts more focus on Olympic champion Horigome Yuto . The Japanese skater will be looking to maintain his fine form that saw him win the Street League Skateboarding event in Jacksonville on Sunday July 17.

French rider Aurelien Giraud will be hungry for a top spot on the podium. The 24-year-old is one of the favourites for Paris 2024 and has come second at the 2021 Dew tour event as well as the recent World Street Skateboarding competition in Rome.

USA's Jamie Foy is currently second in the world rankings, while Portugal's Gustavo Ribeiro and France's Vincent Milou are two others street riders to look out for.

The men's park competition is sure to be interesting.

Australia's Keegan Palmer will be the man to beat with last year's winner Zion Wright not attending. The Olympic champion isn't the only Aussie to keep an eye on. Kieran Woolley is ranked second in the world currently.

Olympic bronze medallist Cory Juneau will be hoping to improve from his eighth place finish in 2021, while fellow American Tristan Rennie is also keen on shaking up the podium.

Venue: Dew Tour 2022

Lauridsen Skatepark will host the street and park courses of the two-day event in Iowa.

The Olympic-level competition venue is USA's biggest skateboarding venue and was created by the world-renowned designers California Skateparks.

Schedule: Dew Tour 2022

This event is free and open to the public.

Dew Tour 2020 at Copper Mountain

Pro skiers and snowboarders from around the world are gathering in Copper Mountain, Colo., yet again for the Dew Tour competition. And the stakes are high with it being an Olympic qualifiers event.

What exactly is Dew Tour? It’s more than 200 athletes from 17 different countries competing in ski and snowboard superpipe, slopestyle, and adaptive snowboard slalom. It’s the best of the best of ski and snowboard competitions.

We’ll have coverage streaming in live from the event over the next few days, so be sure to check back here for more news, updates, and winning results.

Why Dew Tour Is a Big Deal

The U.S. Snowboard and Freeski teams have had a packed competition season. Halfpipe, big air, and slopestyle teams competed at the Big Air FIS World Cup (Dec. 2-4) and the U.S. Grand Prix FIS World Cup (Dec. 8-10) earlier this month.

Plus, many winter athletes are riding full-steam toward the 2022 Beijing Olympics Winter Games.

This weekend, skiers and snowboarders will compete in slopestyle and pipe competitions at the Winter Dew Tour, one of the last Olympic qualifying events on U.S. turf. (Dew Tour was also an Olympic qualifier for freeskiing and snowboarding back in 2014 and 2018.)

Needless to say, Dew Tour is where the action is. And if you aren’t going in person, our live coverage is the place to be.

Many athletes riding at Dew Tour are vying for points to make their way up the FIS rankings, which factors into their Olympic qualifications. Who will podium at Dew Tour? Which skiers and snowboarders will rise to the top ranks? Stay tuned to find out.

Halfpipe Coverage

The halfpipe competition has athletes competing inside Copper Mountain’s 22-foot superpipe. In the finals, each athlete will get three runs (scored on a 100-point system) to show their stuff. The best one of their three runs determines their final rank.

Men’s Ski

Here are the 10 male freeskiers who made it onto the start list for finals:

  • David Wise, USA
  • Noah Bowman, Canada
  • Nico Porteous, New Zealand
  • Brendan MacKay, Canada
  • Lyman Currier, USA
  • Aaron Blunk, USA
  • Alex Ferreira, USA
  • Simon D’Artois, Canada
  • Hunter Hess, USA
  • Birk Irving, USA

Final winners

  • Gold : Alex Ferreira, USA
  • Silver : Aaron Blunk, USA
  • Bronze : Brendan MacKay, Canada

U.S. athletes Birk Irving and David Wise followed up the podium pack in places fourth and fifth.

Men’s Snowboard

Here are the 10 male snowboarders who made it onto the start list for finals:

  • Ayumu Hirano, Japan
  • Ruka Hirano, Japan
  • Yuto Totsuka, Japan
  • Shaun White, USA
  • Andre Hoeflich, Germany
  • Chase Josey, USA
  • Taylor Gold, USA
  • Jan Scherrer, Switzerland
  • Valentino Guseli, Australia
  • Joey Okesson, USA

As expected, several athletes from Japan and the U.S. have stacked the ranked in the top 10. Though the big surprise was U.S. snowboarder Danny Davis, who finished 12th, just short of making it to finals.

  • Gold : Yuto Totsuka, Japan
  • Silver : Taylor Gold, USA
  • Bronze : Ruko Hirano, Japan

Women’s Ski

  • Chloe Kim, USA
  • Xuetong Cai, China
  • Queralt Castellet, Spain
  • Mitsuki Ono, Japan
  • Ruki Tomita, Japan
  • Sena Tomita, Japan

  • Gold : Chloe Kim, USA
  • Silver : Queralt Castellet, Spain
  • Bronze : Cai Xuetong, China

Slopestyle Coverage

mens ski nick goepper USA

Here’s how slopestyle works: Competitors will get three runs to show their skills. They are scored on a point system out of 100. Here are the 10 male freeskiers who made it onto the start list for finals:

  • Colby Stevenson, USA
  • Oliwer Magnusson, Sweden
  • Fabian Boesch, Switzerland
  • Nick Goepper, USA
  • Etienne Gagnon, Canada
  • Evan McEachran, Canada
  • Alex Hall, USA
  • Mark Hendrickson, Canada
  • Mac Forehand, USA
  • Finn Bilous, New Zealand
  • Gold: Colby Stevenson, USA
  • Silver: Alex Hall, USA
  • Bronze:  Nick Goepper, USA

Men’s ski slopestyle finals saw a ton of talent, but U.S. athletes ended up dominating the podium. Moreso, both first- and second-place finishers are from Park City, Utah: 23-year-old Alex Hall and 24-year-old Colby Stevenson.

Same as the men’s competition format, female slopestyle skiers will compete in three runs, where they are scored on a 100-point scale and then ranked by their best run.

This time at Dew Tour, qualifiers were postponed, meaning the whole field of 16 freeskiers will compete in the three-run final. Skiers to watch in the women’s slopestyle include Eileen Gu — who could potentially podium twice in one day in slopestyle and halfpipe — and Sarah Hoefflin, Giulia Tanno, Johanne Killi, Mathilde Gremaud, along with frontrunner and fan-favorite Tess Ledeux. Plus, U.S. skier and Dew Tour rookie Bella Bacon.

  • Gold:   Tess Ledeux, France
  • Silver: Eileen Gu, China
  • Bronze : Johanne Killi, Norway

Speed was a huge factor with the women’s snowboard slopestyle competition Saturday morning, with big names like U.S. riders Jamie Anderson, Julia Marino, and Courtney Rummel (finishing in 4th place) missing the podium spots.

  • Gold: Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, New Zealand
  • Silver : Enni Rukajarvi, Finland
  • Bronze : Kokomo Murase, Japan

Men’s snowboard slopestyle finals saw an absolute epic performance from all the top athletes, but U.S. athlete and reigning Dew Tour 2020 champion Red Gerard ended up pulling the first place spot with his final run. A third U.S. pro snowboarder Sean FitzSimons finished in fourth place behind snowboard star Mark McMorris.

  • Gold : Red Gerard, USA
  • Silver : Chris Corning, USA
  • Bronze : Mark McMorris, Canada

Adaptive Snowboard Slalom

The only adaptive event at Dew Tour, 16 male and 10 female athletes will compete on the adaptive snowboard slalom course. They’ll be timed on two runs, and the fastest of two runs counts. The women will compete first, then the men.

Women’s final winners

  • Gold: Kiana Clay, USA
  • Silver: Peggy Martin, USA
  • Bronze: Annika Hutsler, USA

Men’s final winners

  • Gold:  Matti Suur-Hamari, Finland
  • Silver: Owen Pick, Great Britain
  • Bronze:  John Leslie, Canada

Free for All: Dispatch from the 2024 Dew Tour

Olympic hopefuls and their fans rub shoulders at copper mountain.

In its 20 th year, Dew Tour highlights were plenty: There was snowboarder Lucas Foster landing the first-ever alley-oop double McTwist in the men’s halfpipe and free skier Alex Ferreira winning seven out of seven halfpipe events, a feat never before accomplished. There was a fresh four inches of snow on the first day of competition, which put everyone in a good mood. Altogether, the tour—held this year at Copper Mountain—went down as an energizing sneak peek at what to expect among the competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, and a blast for fans and athletes alike.

The Dew Tour is beloved for its unabashed accessibility. For 20 years, it’s given spectators a closeup look at some of snow sports’ best, including Shaun White , Chloe Kim and Ryan Sheckler. Admission is free—from the competition events to the musical performance nightcaps—and the perspective is unbeatable. Viewing areas along the whole of the halfpipe get fans so close that they can see the scratches along the bottom of an athlete’s board as it soars high (as high as a record-breaking 19 feet, 9 inches, in the case of Foster) above them. Insiders—who this year included a Marriott Bonvoy member who bid on and won a complete VIP Dew Tour experience as part of the brand’s Marriott Bonvoy Moments rewards platform—watched from a prime spot at the base of the pipe, where they rubbed shoulders with athlete-spectators like tour legend  Danny Davis , who won the first-ever Dew Tour Superpipe contest back in 2008.

There was a lot to take in, from the thousands who turned up for electronic duo Snakehips’ Saturday night set (which culminated in a yeti dressed in a Mountain Dew jersey surfing the crowd) to the bluebird conditions on Sunday that served to remind even those itching for spring what they loved so much about mountain life. But maybe the most gratifying moment was catching a glimpse of the Marriott Bonvoy member and his two friends, completely novice riders, enjoying their won experience, which was about as novel as they come. The trio’s VIP ride down the mountain with Davis, already somewhat priceless, turned out to be more like small group instruction with a (very patient) Olympian. Unforgettable is, of course, the whole point of the Moments program, which also gives members access to experiences like watching from the pit at the Miami Grand Prix, tickets to catch the Eras Tour in Hamburg and the opportunity to announce a pick at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit.

The warm welcome was not entirely unexpected. Because while exclusivity may often be considered the arbiter of a great experience, the coolest part of the Dew Tour is and always has been how very community-oriented and laid back it is. And really, a bit of friendly competition aside, that’s what ski and riding culture is all about. A most excellent cap to the 2023-2024 season, indeed.

OLYMPICS: Snowboarding-Womens Halfpipe-Final

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

With the Sochi Games a mere 14 months away, some of the top Olympics snow sports athletes are in Breckenridge, Colo. for the Dew Tour this week to start preparing their runs for the world’s biggest stage. Here are four events you shouldn’t miss on Friday. (And don’t worry, you can catch them from your work desk here on NBCSports.com )

Women’s Snowboard Superpipe Semi-final (10:30 a.m.) All three medalists from Vancouver are set to compete at Breckenridge, headlined by gold medalist Torah Bright. The 25-year-old Australian likely has one last shot at adding to her medal count in Sochi.

Vancouver silver medalist and Turin champ Hannah Teter leads a strong pack of American hopefuls, including Salt Lake City winner Kelley Clark and 2012 X Games silver medalist Elena Hight. Veteran Gretchen Bleiler – who came into Vancouver as a favorite and greatly disappointed – will also compete.

Spain’s Queralt Castellet and Cai Xuetong of China are among the best young up-and-comers in the field.

Women’s Freeski Superpipe Finals (12:30 p.m.) 22-year-old Brita Sigourney won superpipe gold at the 2011 Dew Tour stop in Ogden, and became the first woman to stick a 1080 at the 2012 X Games. The Carmel, California native was the top qualifier in the semis.

Lake Tahoe native Maddie Bowman finished 2nd in the final standings of the 2012 Dew Tour, including a win at the Killington event. Just 18, Bowman is the most talent teenager the U.S. has left in the event.

Roz Groenewoud - the reigning X Games Champ and owner of the top score in event history - headlines the Canadian contingent. Teammate Keltie Hansen also qualified for the finals.

Japan’s Ayana Onozuka is a darkhorse in the event. The 24-year old recently made the transition from alpine and finished 5th overall in her first season (2012) on the Dew Tour and 5th in the semis at Breckenridge.

Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Finals (1 p.m) American Jamie Anderson is the lone American in the field, but it’s quality over quantity. The Lake Tahoe native posted an event high 94.25 in her first run and is the clear-cut favorite heading into the finals.

Canada’s Spencer O’Brien and Germany’s Silvia Mittermueller are also top contenders.

Men’s Freeski Superpipe Finals (3:00 p.m.) Canada’s Mike Riddle’s 87.75 was enough to propel the 26-year-old into first place. Despite a disappointing 4th place qualification, France’s Kevin Rolland remains the favorite to top the podium. Americans David Wise and Tanner Hall should also be in the mix.

2024 Masters TV schedule, coverage, live stream, channel, how to watch streaming online, golf tee times

How to watch every memorable moment of the 2024 masters on tv or streaming live.

2024-masters-flag-schedule-g.jpg

The most wonderful time of the golf season reaches its conclusion Sunday as the beauty of April surrounds Augusta National Golf Club. The 2024 Masters started as a star-studded affair with a loaded field featuring the best golfers in the world and Scottie Scheffler entering as the favorite. Scheffler held that same position entering Round 4 and has only increased his advantage as the Masters rolls ot a finish.

Scheffler is looking to become the 10th golfer in Masters history to win two green jackets in a three-year span, and given his level of play over the last two years, no one is doubting he can accomplish his goal. Should he do so, he would pick up a $3.6 million winner's check out of a record  2024 Masters prize money allotment -- a $20 million purse .

While five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods set a new record at Augusta National by making the weekend in his 24th consecutive playing of the tournament, he completely ejected on Saturday with his worst score in a major championship round. Tiger rebounded Sunday while playing his 100th round at Augusta National  but nevertheless signed for a 16 over, his worst score to par at a major and the second-worst round overall across his professional career. (At least he wasn't among the major stars who missed the cut .)

Be sure to follow Masters live leaderboard coverage throughout the final round on Sunday for scores, analysis and highlights. It's a perfect second-screen complement to the Masters viewing experience provided to you by CBS.

While attending the Masters is a dream for many, simply being able to watch golf on the grandest stage of them all is an incredible treat each year, and we here at CBS Sports are thrilled to bring you wall-to-wall coverage of the Masters throughout this week.

CBS Sports offers extensive, week-long coverage across all its platforms with its traditional 18-hole broadcast coverage beginning with the third round on Saturday and final-round action on Sunday. Jim Nantz, in his 39th consecutive year covering the Masters, serves as host for the 37th time. 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman joins Nantz as the lead analyst at the Masters for the second time. Nantz and Immelman link up with CBS Sports' incredible golf team, including on-course reporter Dottie Pepper and the legendary Verne Lundquist, who will be calling his final Masters.

Enough talking about it. Here's how you can watch as much Masters as possible on Sunday. Be sure to stick with CBS Sports for live coverage throughout and download the CBS Sports app  to watch Masters Live on your mobile device.
