Wynnewood Village

This undated promotional photo from the 1950s shows a couple after visiting a Wynnewood Village hardware store, presumably. Signage for the Wynnewood Theatre can be seen in the background. It is unclear what is in the fenced area on the far right, as that structure is not there today.

Wynnewood Village

The Wynnewood Theater sat at the heart of the shopping center. It opened on July 1, 1951 and during that time, it was one of only eight theaters in Dallas (and the only one in Oak Cliff) capable of playing 70mm films. The large auditorium was split into two screens in the 1970s, and it eventually closed on September 28, 1983. It was demolished in the late 1990s.
