Netrani island, an island in Karnataka assumes the name ‘The Heart Shaped Island’ owing to its form that is naturally shaped like a heart. Located in the Arabian sea, about 19 kms from Murudeshwar, it is also called the Bajrangi island and Pigeon island. It is situated in Bhatkal taluk in Uttara Kannada district and locally addressed as Nitra Gudo. Netrani island fascinates tourists who are interested in underwater adventure.

Mangalore airport is closest to Murudeshwar, which is about 156 kms. 

Murudeshwar Railway station connects the major cities of India via Mumbai and Mangalore. The station is just 2 km from the town.

One can take private buses from Mumbai, Kochi and Bengaluru to reach Murudeshwar in order to further travel to Netrani Island. Enroute Mangalore, there are buses that ply between Mumbai and Murudeshwar as being located on NH17.

Access to the island is not easy; you must first obtain authorization from the Deputy Commissioner and the Forest Department before visiting Netrani Island. On the island, there are a few modest shrines that appear beautiful when illuminated up.

Netrani is also a fishing harbor with several fishermen on the job. The Statue Park and Murdeshwar Fort are among the other nearby sights to visit. From Murudeshwar, an exhilarating boat voyage of 70-90 minutes would take you to Netrani Island. You will have the opportunity to see a diverse range of fish life that is native to the Arabian Sea and different assortments such as Napolean Wrasse, Cobia, Stonefish, Black Tip Sharks, and Great Barracuda, Turtles, and Stingrays, among others.

This submerged venture is perfect for acknowledged jumpers of all expertise levels because it has a calming effect on your nerves. The island is also a popular site for marriage proposals and anniversaries because of its unique heart shape.

This island is a famous tourist spot and a popular pilgrimage town with silvery sand and the Western Ghats as a backdrop.

Situated about 10 nautical miles away from the holy City of Murudeshwara is an uninhabited island of Netrani, locally known as Netragudo. A thrilling boat ride of 70 to 90 minutes will take you to Netrani Island from Murudeshwara. Known for its overwhelming experience of underwater world, you will get a chance to come face to face with diverse variety of fish life common to Arabian Sea as well as other varieties such as Napolean Wrasse, Cobia, Stonefish, Black Tip Sharks, Great Barracuda, Turtles and Stingrays etc. With a soothing effect over your nerves, this expedition under water is perfect for diving, suitable for certified divers of all experience levels.
