Oceania Cruises' 180-Day Cruise Will Visit 34 Countries in 2024

Oceania's world cruise will stop in almost 100 destinations in 180 days.

After record demand for its 2023 world cruise, Oceania Cruises has unveiled the itinerary for its epic global voyage for 2024. The cruise line's 180-day journey around the world will set sail on January 14, 2024, and visit more than 96 destinations in 34 different countries.

"Incredibly, last year our 2023 world cruise sold out in just one day, so for 2024 we are providing guests more extended voyage options to deeply and meaningfully rediscover the world," Howard Sherman, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure.

Oceania's "Around the World in 180 Days" cruise will depart from Los Angeles and cross more than three oceans and 15 seas as it makes its way around the globe to New York. The journey, on the Oceania Insignia, stops at more than 100 UNESCO World Heritage sites with 24 overnight stays.

Passengers will journey across the Pacific, through French Polynesia and Australia before continuing onto destinations like Japan and Vietnam's Ha Long Bay. The voyage continues along the shores of India and the Arabian Peninsula before sailing across Europe and completing its route across the Atlantic in New York.

The 2024 "Around the World" journey starts at $48,499 per person and includes roundtrip first-class airfare and amenities like prepaid gratuities, laundry, and luggage delivery. During your days at sea, you can keep yourself busy with spa appointments, art workshops, the casino, cabaret, and four open-seating restaurants — not to mention the daily afternoon tea service accompanied by a four-string quartet. There is also a fitness center and sports deck, and of course, a saltwater pool with two hot tubs.

But if half a year at sea seems a bit too long, Oceania has also created four new Grand Voyages , varying in length from 72 to 82 days. "While a globe-circling journey is the pinnacle of life-changing travel experiences, we have specially curated a set of Grand Voyages for seasoned and time-rich travelers to navigate storied seas, straits, and oceans that boldly connect diverse and exotic corners of the globe," Sherman said.

The four journeys include routes from Los Angeles to Sydney, Abu Dhabi to Tokyo, Mumbai to Tokyo, and Papeete to Cape Town. The voyages start at $15,199 per person and prices vary, depending on the destination.

If you need a little more time to decide, Oceania Cruises has also released the itinerary for their 2025 Around-the-World Cruise which will flip the script and travel east to west from New York, passing through Latin America, Southern Africa, India, Asia, and Australia before finishing in San Diego.

Oceania Cruises introduced its 2023 Around The World in 180 Days voyage . Bookings open for the general public on January 27.

Departing from San Francisco CA on January 15, 2023, world travellers can enjoy the 684-passenger liner Insignia to visit a total of 96 ports/destinations in 33 countries across 4 continents.

This 180-day global cruise is at least $41,600 a person and sold out in one day — see what it will be like on board

On January 27, Oceania Cruises opened bookings for its 180-day long cruise set for 2023. The trip then sold out within a day.

The COVID-19 pandemic may have halted cruise sailings in the US , but that's not stopping people from booking future trips, even if the voyages are almost two years out. This includes people who have never sailed with Oceania before: 33% of the bookings were made by new guests instead of experienced Oceania travelers.

"Despite the challenges the world faces today , travelers are clearly bullish on the future and are embracing these new opportunities to travel the world and create lifelong memories," Bob Binder, president and CEO of Oceania Cruises, said in a statement.

The number of new guests on the 180-day cruise and the speed at which it sold out reflects "tremendous pent-up demand," Binder said in a statement on the news release.

And apparently, 180 days out at sea isn't enough for some of its guests.

According to the cruise line, 20% of its world cruise guests have decided to lengthen the voyage to 218 days.

The sold out trip will span from January 15, 2023 to July 13, 2023 ...

... and will start and end in San Francisco.

The "Around the World in 180 Days" cruise hits 96 ports in 33 countries …

… including Namibia, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Thailand.

The trip also includes three days in Antarctica and 61 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

These sites include the Great Wall of China, the Valongo Wharf Archaeological Site in Brazil, the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine in Japan …

… the volcanoes of Kamchatka in Russia, the Singapore Botanic Garden, and Glacier Bay National Park in the US.

In total, the cruise will cross 24 time zones across four continents.

Guests will be spending their 180 days at sea on Oceania's "Insignia" ship.

The Insignia includes four restaurants, eight bars, and 342 suites ...

... accommodating a total of 684 guests.

And what would be a global cruise without cuisine inspired by the worldwide destinations?

There's even plant-based options for the vegetarian and vegan cruisers.

Spending half of the year on a ship may seem like a lot, but the Insignia has a variety of options to keep you entertained while you're out at sea …

Prices for the 180-day journey started at $41,600 for a stay in the inside stateroom.

This cost then jumped up to $155,600 for the owner's suite.

These prices can go up even further for those looking to cruise over 180 days.

The inside stateroom sits at 160 square-feet, while the owner's suite spans almost 1,000 square-feet.
