Just came back from a pilgrimage to Galilee and Jerusalem. Tour operator did a great job. Bus operator and driver exceptional. Spiritual enlightenment first class (Msgr. Fay). Tour guide - Fabricio Lomanto most knowledgeable on the following: Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Roman/ law, architecture and most of all - humanity. Most enlightening. Best group of pilgrims (Roman Catholic?!) I ever had the pleasure to share time with. Thank you all - for making my journey better!

very dissatisfied with service. when my plans were forced to change, agency was no help and basically took the position that I forfeited my money and did less than nothing to help. very disreputable. I will never use them again. caveat emptor

My tour to Fatima for the 100th anniversary of the apparition of our Lady of Fatima was wonderful. I decided to book a pilgrimage with my Mom to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico. My grandmother was born close to that place and I had heard the story my whole life. My dear mother died, and I put my youngest son in her place. It was supposed to be a Mother's Day trip. Covid ruined everything. They (Peters Way) kept changing the dates because of the pandemic. My last sister also died. They finally set on a date that was inconvenient for my son and had nothing to do with Mother's Day. In fact, the rest of the Franciscan University group is there now. The worst part is that I was unable to get a refund, or even a credit for another pilgrimage at a later time (after the pandemic). I had to cancel because Peters Way said that if one of us tested positive for Covid (whether or not symptomatic) we would be required to quarantine at our own expense. I am a nurse and have been caring for Covid patients. Even though I am vaccinated and taking all precautions, we all know I could test positive at any time. I am also in graduate school right now, and cannot afford ANY OF THIS. I saved for years to take my mom on this pilgrimage before she died. I just threw away $3K and got nothing in return. Peters Way should have been prepared for cancellations due to the pandemic. The Covid-19 Pandemic not my fault and not Peters Way's fault, but a little flexibility would have been nice. I'm nobody special, just a poor Hispanic nurse with a bucket list of pilgrimages I'd like to go on. I still want to go to Our Lady of Lourdes, and the big Passion Play, and several other places like the the Vatican, etc. I thought I had found the best tour agency and a wonderful Catholic group at Franciscan University. I am just so very disappointed. I hope the Mexican pilgrimage doesn't hit any snags, because apparently Peters Way doesn't care to make things right even when it's not the pilgrims fault. God bless you all. If you're poor like me, don't trust this agency to take care of you.

Photo of Meghan E.

If you book a tour with this agency you better make sure you have Cancel For Any Reason insurance as 3 months later we and many others are still waiting for our refund for a Catholic Guy Trips pilgrimage cancelled by them due to COVID19. We were told we would only be receiving a refund of $4,399 of the $5,449 we paid due to the fact that they were unable to get refunds from some of the vendors. Is this our fault? Because we paid by credit card were charged $150 additional vs $5,299 if we paid in cash. Thankfully we did use a credit card because it looks like we have to take further action. Delta refunded the fares back long ago. BTW they re-booked the pilgrimage for a fall date and had the money to do that. Poor Communication. Pilgrims beware.

Dear Meghan, We are sorry for the delay in receiving a refund. Your pilgrimage was cancelled in the beginning phases of the COVID-19 pandemic when there was much uncertainty. The payments you made to Peter's Way Tours for your pilgrimage with Catholic Guy Trips was sent to hotels, guides, sites for entrance fees, and restaurants on your behalf. Many of these vendors were not offering refunds, only credit for future travel, and in some cases, there has been a cancellation penalty. Please note, your original $1,000 per person deposit was accepted as "non-refundable" by you upon reading the Terms & Conditions and signing the enrollment form. Unfortunately, standard travel insurance does not cover cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only those who purchased the Cancel For Any Reason add-on are covered for up to 80% of their payments. We are happy to discuss this further via email or phone. We hope that you and your family remain safe and healthy and that you can travel on the rescheduled dates.

Photo of Richard F.

In response to Elias B. who answered me on 8-17: multiple persons are suing you. One complaint is based on your firm apparently sitting on the insurance premium monies --- the insurance firm could find no policies for any of us! That alone is a complete breach on your part leaving aside the additional cancellation of the trip much later!

Dear Richard, When the 2020 Oberammergau Passion Play was postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Peter's Way Tours took the initiative to refund our clients as much as possible before having received any funds back from vendors overseas, refunding you and your wife a total of $4,350 on April 27. As we've explained over email, the payments you had made to Peter's Way Tours for your Oberammergau pilgrimage were sent to hotels, guides, sites for entrance fees, and the Committee of Oberammergau for Passion Play tickets. Many of these vendors are not offering refunds, only credit for future travel, and those who have refunded us have charged hefty cancellation fees, including the Committee of Oberammergau, which is holding onto 12% of your investment as administrative fees. This refund reduced your loss to $600 per person, and we have offered to credit $300 if you choose to enroll on a pilgrimage with Peter's Way Tours for the 2022 Passion Play, thus reducing the amount to $300. If you'll note, your original $1,000 per person deposit was written as "non-refundable" on both your signed enrollment form and Terms & Conditions, which is a signed contract between yourself and Peter's Way Tours. However, we have managed to refund you more than that original contract entitled. Unfortunately, standard travel insurance is not covering cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this applies to our company as well as individuals. We are doing our best to do right by our customers and hope to continue to serve them on pilgrimages for years to come. We would be happy to discuss this further via email or phone, and hope that you and your family remain safe and healthy.

Any discussion of non-refundable monies refers only to situations where the tour participant cancelled not a situation where Peter's Way cancelled in a situation where they also failed to forward monies for requested insurance to protect their clients. Two breaches of contract!

Our planned trip to Germany/Austria was pulled by them and the refund was not the full amount. Moreover various participants contacted the trip insurance company and the company could not find any record of St. Peter's Way having gotten insurance policies that had been requested. St. Peter's Way is also discouraging filing an insurance claim using dubious reasoning. I'm planning a small claims action against them to get my remaining monies.

Heart of Italy Pilgrimage, August 2012 St. Cyril's Choir, Alex Bay NY Rebecca Rose, Director We had a totally, and I mean totally perfect tour and experience. Every I was dotted and every T was crossed. It did not matter who I talked to on the phone in the office, or who emailed me. Response was prompt and professional, and always helpful. Peter's Way tour is really the best in the business, and I would recommend them, and only them, to anyone that is thinking of taking a choir overseas. The contacts that Peter's Way has in Rome made our experience once in a lifetime. Everything was as promised, and if something came up to be adjusted, it was brought to my attention ASAP, and handled just perfectly. Thank you for that, you made me and my 36 choir members very happy. You hit everything as an A+ right out of the gate. Cannot WAIT to plan our next tour!! Rebecca Rose, director

A very disappointing experience dealing with this company. We were a large group and each paid quite a lot for what should have been a top quality tour in Europe, but there were problems from the outset. Communicating with the tour company prior to the trip was difficult, and it often took a long time to get responses, which were often inflexible. When we arrived at the airport to depart, we learned that none of our airline tickets were confirmed. This led to a fiasco lasting several hours while the airline tried to straighten everything out. No representative from the tour company was even at the airport to help (instead they hired a local agent who had no idea what was going on and provided no help), so we were forced to deal with these issues on our own and barely made the flight. It's unthinkable that a tour company would not have re-confirmed airline bookings prior to departure, and sent a representative to the airport prior to departure to make sure things went smoothly, especially for such a large group. Though we paid top dollar for the package, we were booked on indirect flights with layovers, even though nonstops were available. Our overseas flight was followed by an awful seven hour layover before taking a second flight to our destination. While the indirect flights surely resulted in a greater profit for the tour company, the additional travel time essentially robbed us of a day of our vacation. Similarly, the hotels in which we were booked were generally mediocre and very far away (30-60 minutes) from the city centers we were visiting. These were obviously cheaper for the tour company to book and left more for their bottom line. The tour guide we had throughout the trip was friendly enough at first but later became rude and condescending. We expected better service and better quality all around for a tour costing thousands of dollars.

I so far have taken two choir trips abroad using peters way tours! Found the company to be AWESOME! Everything was taken care of from the planning stages to the execution of the tours! I would and have recommended Peters Way to colleagues and friends! Keep up the amazing work guys!!! As my choir members keep asking... When's the next one! :-)

I’m considering a tour w them in late February 2022 and I wanted to know if they are a company that uses quality hotels & if they have good food & interesting tours in the cities they visit?

Their reputation seems to be damaged by their cancellation policy which only returns “up to 80%” of the costs of you have to cancel due to illness or accident & their policy is the same for those with “cancel for any reason” insurance. Their cancellation policy doesn’t take Covid into consideration because it’s “an act of God”.

I see that Italy is a high risk country & that our State Department is advising for travel there to be “reconsidered”. Peter’s Way Tours doesn’t seem to care that there’s still a pandemic on & that some customers might feel uneasy about taking the scheduled trip.

Thank you for your responses!

peter's way travel

Why would you want to book with them as you've read so many bad review? Sorry, I can't understand.

peter's way travel

If there are no cancellations & no need for refunds…I’m asking if anyone can tell me if Peter’s Way Tours is a quality tour, with good meals, quality hotels & good tour guides in the cities they visit. I hate to pay a high price to go & then find out that they cut corners & their customers aren’t happy. I’ve only been able to find a few reviews & the complaints were about their refund policy.

I’m sorry! The name is Peter’s Way Tours. (Not Travel)

I understand. Their tours seem lovely. Hopefully someone who has traveled withbthem will weigh in. I only know of Sacred Destinations and it’s secondhand info. A member of a local Catholic community traveled with them and had good things to say. http://sacreddestinations.org/

St Peter’s Way

Start / End

good to know

St Peter’s Way has become our most popular tour this past season! The trail takes you from the high Black Forest mountains, all the way into Freiburg – the capital of the Black Forest. This is a trail for people who want to immerse themselves into the beauty of the Black Forest. St Peter’s Way offers scenic views, waterfalls, hikes along streams and remote mountain towns. On the last day the distance can be challenging due to length, therefore this is not necessarily a trail for first time hikers.

Moderate hikes and plenty of scenery

peter's way travel

Partially unknown to tourists

St Peter’s Way offers a good combination of scenic views, forest and fauna, streams and waterfalls, remote mountain towns and family-run hotels. Although you may encounter a tourists or two at well known points of interest (we will point them out so you know what to expect), the trails of St Peter’s Way are mostly unknown – except to local hikers.

Some days can be challenging due to the rather long distances (18 km on the last day) – the trail is therefore not recommended if you have never hiked before.

If you prefer to hike with a guide at the beginning of St Peter’s Way you can add-on one of our hiking guides on the first day. This gives you a change to meet a local and get the insights on the area.

peter's way travel

From the mountain top into the valley

To get to the trail head you will take the train from Freiburg into the the mountains. Here, a little below 1000 metres, you find your first hotel. Explore town prior to your first hiking day. (Good to know: If you are interested in some touristy sights, for example Lake Titisee you could visit them on your arrival day).

Day by day, the trails of St Peter’s Way slowly wind themselves through the mountains, along streams and passing by waterfalls. Each night you have the opportunity to enjoy local foods at restaurants we recommend.

Looking for a challenge?

If you are looking for a challenge we are giving you a chance on day 2.

Either choose the shorter trail of 9 km which is easy and offers gorgeous panoramic views.

Or choose a more challenging trail of 14.5 km which takes you into some difficult terrain (pictured below) to get to a waterfall. On this trail good shoes are neccessary and hiking poles are recommended . Be careful – on a rainy day this trail should be avoided altogether. If you want to add-on even more distance you can do a 4 km detour and eat lunch at a farmhouse. Those who know, come from far away to eat their homemade sausages.

peter's way travel

More time available?

If you have more time available we recommend to add-on another day of hiking at the beginning. This will give you a chance to see Feldberg mountain – the highest mountain in the Black Forest. The additional hike is either 12 or 17 km in length (7 or 10 miles) and starts right in front of your hotel. Once you have reached Feldberg mountain a bus takes you back to the hotel. Great hike taking you by a mountain cabin for lunch.

This Black Forest Tour trip with a three day hike in the forest was much more than we expected. Simone was so helpful in putting together the material which was available online and in our hotel room when we arrived the first day. The selection of the hotels and places to stop were excellent, along with a comprehensive guide (printed and in an APP). My sister and I walked the three-day St. Peter's Way trail and it was wonderful. We used both the printed guide and the GPS APP and we were never lost or confused along the way. Simone pointed out some highlights to watch for, and we did, taking advantage of her expertise. Yes it did sprinkle a little one of the days on the hike (last day), but otherwise, the weather was bright and sunny and we were so lucky to have that. The hotel staff at each hotel were very welcoming and charming, noting that we were with Black Forest Tours. It made us feel special and our luggage arrived each day at the next hotel without any problems. We appreciated all the support that Simone provided, even though we did not have to use any emergency numbers that she gave us. As older women, one over 70, the walk was an absolute delight and within our means - we did use trekking poles which were recommended for anyone doing the hike. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone, young or old - we truly felt like we were in the Fairy Tale land of the German Folk Stories. And Simone's comprehensive detailed guides (printed and online with GPS) gave us the gift of traveling in confidence with no worries.
From Day 1 when my sister and I checked into our hotel, going through the maps/book in our welcome bag to the very end of our walk into Freiburg, our expectations were fully met. We enjoyed every step along the way. I found the book extremely helpful in guiding us along the path and I literally carried it in my hand the entire time. That along with the App, which we used to confirm our exact location whenever there was the slightest doubt, kept us from ever getting lost. All of the hotels and staff were wonderful to deal with, very kind and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious and dinners at the hotels in Hinterzarten and Sonne Hotel were delicious! A very memorable walk!
This was our first experience of a hike tour abroad and we were so impressed with this company. Every detail is so thought through and each and every aspect is very well run and carefully considered. Communication with Simone was outstanding so we always felt very reassured. We thoroughly enjoyed our hike through the Black Forest -maps, app and signage meant we felt very comfortable with the route and the hotels booked were all in great locations and very charming. We opted for a guided walk the first day which was helpful and very enjoyable. Would thoroughly recommend this efficient and personable company.
We had a great time walking the St Peter’s Way. The information you provided by way of maps, booklet and the app were very useful. We used the app throughout and found it very helpful and foolproof especially on the alternative route on day 2. The walks themselves were picturesque and gave a good impression of the Black Forest and surrounding countryside. We were lucky with the weather in that it wasn’t too hot and we managed to avoid the rain when it came. The hotels were all of a good standard and we thought the the third was a standout venue. The people at all the hotels were very helpful and accommodating. The food on offer at each of the hotels varied but it was all of a good standard with the breakfast at hotel 1 and hotel 3 being of a high standard. We found each of the villages we stayed in charming in their different ways and had the energy to complete the walking tour of Freiburg using your app. The baggage transfer went without a hitch. All the hotels were perfectly situated for the walks. The only problem being that the lift in the hotel in Freiburg was not working but at least our luggage had been taken to our rooms on the second floor. All in all a very enjoyable trip with great information provided by your company Thanks Eric
Hi Simone, We loved our Black Forest holiday! The app was really useful. The printed guide was good for reading up on the hikes before we did them. Also useful for restaurant information etc. The luggage transfer went really smoothly. The hotels were great. Our favourite hike was the second one - we did the alternative route, which was spectacular. I was worried the last day's hike might be a bit dull, but it wasn't at all! The arrival into Freiburg was magnificent! I liked how we were able to get right into the forest on some of the paths. Thank you!
Hello, My husband and I hiked the St Peter's Way part of the Black Forest, as arranged by Black Forest Tours. What a great way to first encounter the beauty and majesty of this wonderful area! The hotels were at least very nice and some amazing, one with a spa amenity that was very welcome to our tired legs. The folks along the way were friendly and we appreciated the quiet, with only seeing a couple of other hikers on our 3 days. The suitcase transfer service made it possible to hike with just day packs for our lunches and rain gear. Black Forest Tours made the arrangements and picked the best trails for us to follow, which were easy to find and stay on with their mobil app that does not require cell service, just the standard GPS it seems most phones have these days. They pointed out points of interest, including some we would not have found without their careful guidance.

Is it for me?

This hike is great for people who prefer moderate hikes. and prefer to be out in nature (instead of in town). Whereas some of our other hikes put the focus on mingling with locals, our St Peter’s Trail is all about the beauty of the Black Forest. You will see waterfalls, mountain towns, and experience the deep forest. All combined with comfy hotels or a typical Gasthaus at the end of the day.

Great hike to be combined with some sightseeing (Freiburg) at the end. Opt to see some of the more touristy areas (Lake Titisee) on your arrival day. Add-on more days either at the beginning or end for more sightseeing options.

Good choice if you prefer to hike with a guide. We can add a local guide on the first day of St Peter’s Way.

Arrival Info

Arrive in Freiburg by train. From here you switch to a regional train which takes you to your first hotel up in the mountains within 45 minutes.

If you arrive early afternoon, there is still time to include some sightseeing to nearby sights (e.g. Lake Titisee, Feldberg Mountain). We are happy to provide recommendations on what to see and do on your arrival day.

Your hotel has a restaurant. But there are also other options in town.

Morning. Today’s hike is pretty short. You will cover some heights, but you should be able to cover the required distance in half a day. Recommendation: Explore town after breakfast, then get on the trail by lunch time. Hit the trail late morning (after 10 AM) to avoid othert tourists.

Your hike takes you through famous Hell’s Valley – you will follow the streams up to the mountain top.

Take a short break enjoying a piece of cake and coffee (or a beer!) at the local cafe – then hop on the bus to get to your next hotel

Enjoy the short bus ride on the Panorama road. You are staying in a newly remodeled hotel in the herat of town.

  • Option 2 takes you on a challenging trail of 14.5 km in length in difficult terrain. You will stop at a waterfall which can only be visited by foot. You can even add-on more km to eat at a farmhouse for lunch. On a rainy day this trail needs to be avoided, it will be too slippery.

Our family-owned hotel is located in the heart of town.

You are staying in a small mountain town providing a good opportunity to peak inside one of the Black Forest’s oldest monastery churches.

peter's way travel

Today’s hike is long – but the trail is not strenous and easy to walk on. Since you are located in the mountains you will mostly walk slightly downhill – straight into Freiburg.

We keep you on small trails – a very enjoyable hike. Don’t let the long distance scare you!

standard hotel inside the old town of Freiburg. We place you right in the centre of town.

Departure Info

From your hotel it is a short walk to Freiburg’s train station.

We recommend exploring Freiburg prior to your departure (why not add-on another night?). No rush – if you want to explore town, then store the luggage at your hotel and pick it up later.

St Peters Way add-on hike

This 17 km long hike starts in front of your hotel. You will hike up to Feldberg – the highest mountain in the Black Forest. Once at Feldberg you have the option to cut your hike short (making it a 12 km hike total) – or hike the last 5 km to climb up to the top of the mountain. After your hike you will catch a bus back to your hotel. Highlights: bring your swimming gear to take a dip in the lake! Stop at a mountain cabin for lunch.

Middle East latest: Israel 'wants to launch action against Iran coordinated with US' - as IDF soldiers wounded in blast 'after crossing into Lebanon'

Israel says "we reserve the right to do everything in our power" after a Benjamin Netanyahu's war cabinet meets to discuss how to respond to Iran's attack. Meanwhile, Lord Cameron tells Sky News that Iran revealed its "malign" nature - while urging Israel to show restraint.

The British airline has suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv until Sunday.

It said it had taken the decision due to the "evolving situation in Israel".

"The safety and security of our passengers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority," it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, budget airline Wizz Air has said it will resume flights tomorrow after cancelling them from last Saturday.

The IDF's chief of staff has warned there will be a response to Iran's large-scale attack.

Israel's war cabinet held its third meeting in 48 hours today, with media reports afterwards saying Israel's objective is to hurt Iran without causing an all-out war.

Reports also suggested Israel wants to embark on action against Iran coordinated with the US - although America has said it will not be involved in a counteroffensive on Iran.

We're hearing currently from US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, who says the defence of Israel over the weekend was "effective".

He says the attack from Iran could have caused a "significant loss of life".

The US president and the secretary of state have "consulted extensively with partners in the region and around the world" in the hours since, Mr Miller says.

They are urging the international community to "act as a united front".

Condemning Iran's actions, he says the attack "threatens to destabilise the region" and "violated the sovereignty of several states".

Asked which countries had their sovereignties violated, Mr Miller does not give their names but says missiles were launched from Iran and flew over other countries.

He says the US wants to see de-escalation and does not want a wider regional war, but refuses to comment on what would be an acceptable or unacceptable retaliation from Israel.

The government is facing calls for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to be made a proscribed organisation.

Labour renewed its demand today after Rishi Sunak gave a statement in the Commons on Iran's "unprecedented" attack on Israel.

Shadow foreign secretary David Lammy said the attack highlighted the "extreme danger" posed by the IRGC.

"We have said that we think they should be proscribed and it's for the government to come forward with new plans to proscribe them and to deal with this issue of state actors that will behave in this appalling way that wreaks terror on a wider community," he said.

The government also faced pressure from its own backbenches in the form of former home secretary Suella Braverman.

She urged the prime minister to "put the UK's national security first" by proscribing the IRGC.

"We have known for years that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is the world's chief sponsor of terrorism, funding and promoting terrorist plots, radicalisation and hostage taking both in the Middle East and at home," Ms Braverman said.

"We have proscribed Hezbollah, we have proscribed Hamas, prime minister, why don't we put the UK's national security first by now proscribing the IRGC?"

Mr Sunak responded that the government would not comment on any potential proscription decisions but that it recognises the threat from Iran.

A little earlier, we brought you images from the funeral of Palestinian Yazan Ishtayeh - and we've got more details on what happened now.

The 17-year-old was killed during an Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank today - bringing the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces or armed settlers to six since Friday.

Palestinian authorities have reported increased settler rampages across the West Bank.

A spokesperson for Israel's Border Police said undercover border police troops, together with the Israeli army, launched an operation in the city of Nablus to arrest a suspect.

During the operation, riots broke out in which one person threw an explosive device at the troops and was shot dead by the undercover unit, the spokesperson said.

Three other people were injured.

Violence in the West Bank was already increasing before Israel's assault on Gaza, but hasescalated since.

At least 466 people in the West Bank have been killed since 7 October, the Palestinian Health Ministry has said.

The Netherlands has said it will reopen its embassy in Tehran tomorrow after closing it for two days for safety reasons.

In a statement, it warned the embassy could face closure again in future.

"The security of the representation continues to be closely monitored, making a new closure possible in the near future," it said.

The Dutch government advised against all travel to Israel yesterday due to the uncertain security situation.

Tensions are running high as Israel considers whether, and how, to respond to Iran's attack at the weekend.

Iran launched drones and missiles towards Israel in retaliation for a suspected Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which left senior commanders dead.

Alistair Bunkall, Middle East correspondent

Bunkall says the Israeli war cabinet's meeting today was its third in 48 hours.

So far, we don't know what's been decided - if anything at all.

He says there are "many issues" the war cabinet could be discussing, not least its war in Gaza, the major hostage crisis and the issues on Israel's northern border.

"A direct attack on Iran would elicit a response from Tehran - although that's not to say the Israelis wouldn't go with it," says Bunkall.

Israel could also "go to proxies like Hezbollah" or "carry out covert deniable assassinations on Iranian territory, which they've done many times before".

Bunkall says it is too soon to conclude whether Israel will take action and what that could be, but it appears the "inclination at the moment is they do need to do something to retaliate".

Dominic Waghorn, international affairs editor

Israel's allies in the West are urging it to "bank what you've got" as it was able to hit the consulate in Damascus and take out a number of senior Iranian officials, Waghorn says.

They will also point out Israel has been able to show it can protect its people, not just through the efforts of its own military but also using a "grand coalition of Western militaries and Arab states".

Israel had said it wouldn't have been able to limit damage so much without early warnings from unnamed Arab states.

This coalition could be a "template" that Israel could build upon, Waghorn says.

"If it retaliates now and strikes Iran heavily, it could jeopardise that," he adds.

Mark Stone, US correspondent

US secretary of state Antony Blinken was the first Biden administration official to speak publicly since Iran's attack on Saturday night.

Stone says we heard details of how Mr Blinken "watched it unfolding in real time" and saw Iran's drones heading towards Israel.

"At that point, he did not know how successful the Israeli and US air defence systems would be," he says.

"It was a moment of acute tension - probably the most tense moment since the Hamas attacks on 7 October."

Mr Blinken repeated the idea that Israel should take the win and see its defence as a remarkable military and diplomatic success.

Stone says the support of Arab partners was "remarkable" and Mr Blinken was "at pains to point that out".

The Americans will be hoping Israel sees this and chooses not to retaliate now - although they do "understand the desire for Israel to respond".

The German airline has announced it will resume flights serving Tel Aviv, Amman and Erbil tomorrow.

Lufthansa had halted its services to and from the Middle East due to tensions in the region.

Flights to Tehran and Beirut will remain cancelled up to and including Thursday, the company said.

It will also avoid Iranian airspace until then.

Palestinians who have been displaced by Israel's military offensive on southern Gaza are now returning to the north of the enclave.

Some rode horse-drawn carts or in vehicles, while others travelled on foot.
