WonderLight’s Christmas

November 17 to December 31

Miles of LED Christmas lights synchronized to rocking Christmas music – that’s what you’ll find at WonderLight’s Christmas at World Wide Technology Raceway . Open nightly from Nov. 17 to Dec. 31, including holidays, the family-friendly event is one of the area’s largest drive-through Christmas light shows, featuring shooting stars, falling snowflakes, dancing candy canes and enchanting tunnels of lights. Pack your vehicle with family and friends and begin a new holiday tradition this season.

Way of Lights

The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois, sparkles in winter as its annual Christmas light display illuminates the grounds. All are invited to witness the breathtaking Way of Lights, which focuses on the birth of Christ and includes life-size biblical statues.

Santa’s Magical Kingdom

November 17 to January 7

Santa’s Magical Kingdom is unlike any other place on earth, and this year, it’s bigger, brighter and merrier! More than four million shimmering lights, electrifying special effects and whimsical worlds of animated scenes fill Jellystone Park next to Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka . Here, reindeer soar overhead, elves frolic in the trees and ice cream sundaes are as big as boats. You can drive through the 35 acres of holiday magic or take an old-fashioned, open-air wagon ride with unobstructed, 360-degree views. Kids can also drop their letters to Santa in his mailbox at the North Pole. Santa’s Magical Kingdom is open every night from Nov. 18 through Jan. 8, including holidays.

Brewery Lights

November 18 to December 30

The Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis consists of elaborate, red-brick buildings in the Germanic-Romanesque style, with rounded arches, embellished cornices and castellated rooflines. This time of year, the stunning architecture is amplified by more than a million twinkling lights. At the 38th annual Brewery Lights, guests can enjoy the remarkable holiday experience in a number of ways: Stroll down Pestalozzi Street arm in arm with your sweetheart, gather around a private fire pit with friends or explore the new ice maze with your kids. Every night, there will also be a complimentary 16-ounce beer for those 21 and older, a 10-minute light show and a festive parade, including a vintage truck, rollicking floats, street performers and, of course, Budweiser Clydesdales. Tickets tend to sell out, so get yours today.

Garden Glow

November 18 to January 6

Garden Glow at the Missouri Botanical Garden dazzles visitors with its exquisite light displays year after year. Come to celebrate the season with more than one million twinkling lights, beautiful projections and fun, new experiences. The lights adorn some of the Garden’s most iconic locations, including the Climatron, and while you’re here, you can enjoy s’mores and festive drinks. Add a delicious meal (your choice of entrée and fountain drink) to the experience for $16 or reserve a private fire pit for $250.

Winter Wonderland in Tilles Park

November 22 to December 30

Whether you’re starting a new holiday tradition or continuing a favorite one, the annual Winter Wonderland in Tilles Park is worth a stop. More than a million gleaming bulbs bring displays of festive characters and winter scenes to life, and overhead, a canopy of lights glistens throughout the 75-acre park in St. Louis County. Enjoy the Winter Wonderland by foot, by car or by carriage.

Grove of Lights

December 1 to 23

Located approximately an hour from downtown St. Louis, Lost Hill Lake presents Grove of Lights on select nights in December. Holiday light displays will be strung throughout the on-site pavilions, where visitors can take photos and make memories. The joyous event will also feature hot cocoa, gooey s’mores and other indulgences – plus, a vendor market and an interactive play area and activity center for kids. If you want to have a meet-and-greet with Santa, stop by between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Holiday Lights at Grant’s Farm

November 24 to December 30

This year, there are four ways to experience Holiday Lights at Grant’s Farm : by car, on foot, over a meal or around the fire. The popular drive-through experience routes you around the Busch family home and through the Bauernhof courtyard, both of which will be decked out in holiday décor. You’ll get the chance to see some of your favorite animals, Santa and Mrs. Claus and the 50-foot, LED-lit Christmas tree, which will be synchronized to holiday music that you can hear on your car radio. If you would rather walk, you can take the tram to the German-inspired Bauernhof and then stroll around the grounds, enjoying the festive atmosphere and uplifting light displays at your leisure. In addition to meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus, you can also take a photo with the Clydesdales and savor seasonal food and drink offerings. Want to have breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus? Grant’s Farm also offers a breakfast buffet in the historic Carriage House, which includes VIP parking next to the Bauernhof and surprise animal appearances. If you want to make an evening of it, reserve a private fire pit on beautiful Mirror Lake. Accommodating up to 12 people, each fire pit includes firewood, s’more kits and beer or water. Hot chocolate, adult beverages and holiday merchandise will also be available for purchase. Reservations are recommended for all Holiday Lights experiences.

U.S. Bank Wild Lights

Jingle Bears! Jingle Bears! This holiday season, escape to a wild wonderland at the Saint Louis Zoo . The U.S. Bank Wild Lights is back with brand-new twinkling light displays and festive family fun. A 40-foot walk-through lighted tree offers a dynamic photo opportunity, and the Meet Me in St. Louis display is a showstopper, complete with a 15-foot arch and a 17-foot steamboat silhouette backdrop. Other displays include the Frosted Forest, Butterfly Grove, Toy Town, Holly Jolly Hangout, Arctic Alley, Twinkling Tunnel, Peppermint Pathway and Gingerbread Lane. The highly anticipated holiday light display will be open on select nights from Nov. 24 to Dec. 30.

We hope you and your loved ones enjoy these festive light displays in St. Louis. Happy holidays!

Celebration of Lights – Fort Zumult Park

Celebration of Lights at Fort Zumult Park

The Celebration of Lights is an entertaining family adventure during the holidays. We packed up the car and headed into the park when I went through this light display. We had so much fun with the windows rolled down and climbing over each other to get pictures and videos of the animated displays. Since 1991, this light display has brought joy to thousands of families during the holiday season.

Driving through the always-present light tunnel and taking in the decorated trees and holiday structures, including classic themes and even a Lampoon vacation theme, is exciting. The Celebration of Lights can always bring a smile to your face as your children yell out, “Look at that!”, “Did you see that?” “Look over there!” In addition to driving through the light display, you can purchase tickets to have your family ride through on a horse-drawn carriage. You are making it a truly memorable evening of holiday festiveness!

Christmas Vacation Display at Celebration of Lights

Important things to note: There is a lot of traffic around this park during the light display times. Bring your patience. The Celebration of Lights turns on November 24th and runs Sunday to Thursday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. until December 30th. You must purchase tickets in advance. There is a $15/vehicle fee when entering the light display. The Celebration of Lights is at 1000 Jessup Drive West in O’Fallon.

Winter Wonderland – Tilles Park

Winter Wonderland at Tilles Park

Winter Wonderland is one of the most enjoyable Holiday Light Displays I have seen in St. Louis. The display is 1.5 miles filled with over a million lights decorating over 100 displays of festive characters, trees, classic holiday scenes, and even some modern ones. Have you ever seen Santa on a jet ski? You will see it here! You can also coordinate your car’s radio with the music on speakers while driving through the display. There is also an opportunity to buy tickets for a horse-drawn carriage ride through the park. From what I observed, all the riders in the carriage wore face masks. Horse-drawn carriages stay on the left, so make sure your vehicle stays on the right side of the drive.

Colorful Trees at Winter Wonderland

Important things to note: Traffic is heavy right before the entrance to Tilles Park. You must queue up on the shoulder to enter the light display. The light show turns on every night starting November 22nd from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. until December 30th. When you leave the light display, you must pay a $20 cash fee per vehicle and try to bring the exact amount or buy your tickets in advance . No credit cards are accepted. Winter Wonderland is in Tilles Park at 9551 Litzsinger Road in St. Louis. Several walk-up carriage rides are available each night at the McCarthy Construction parking lot south of Tilles Park. Please note that walk-up ride prices are higher than pre-registration prices.

Santa Display at Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is my favorite Christmas Light display in St. Louis. If you visit on a lovely evening, roll down the windows and enjoy the lights and wonderful Christmas music. I even saw a kid poking his head out of the sunroof, enjoying the light display. I’m not recommending that, but the cars do drive slowly through the lights.

Penguins at Winter Wonderland

Remember to turn off your headlights when you visit any drive-thru Christmas Light Displays. It is inconsiderate to the vehicle in front of you and ruins their light experience when your lights shine into their car the whole time. I’m sure you don’t want the person behind you to do the same. If you are unsure how to turn them off, check before entering the light displays. And above all else, enjoy the canopy of lights glistening throughout the seventy-five acres of Tilles Park.

Villagers at Winter Wonderland

Check the schedule to find out if it is a walk night or if vehicles can drive through Tilles Park.

Christmas Wonderland – Alton

Christmas Wonderland in Alton

Christmas Wonderland’s light display has over 4 million lights decorating trees in the Rock Spring Park in Alton. You are welcomed by the giant cascading waterfall of lights when you enter the park. A different group decorates each area of the park. You might think it would be disconnected, but there are so many lights that they flow together. When you get to the park’s high point and look down, it seems like a river flowing with colorful lights with lit trees popping up by the river. If you want to listen to Christmas tunes while driving through the light display, turn your radio station to 87.9 FM or tune in to 102.5 FM for Christmas music from St. Louis.

Tunnel of Lights at Christmas Wonderland

Important things to note: Traffic is heavy going through the lights. Please be patient when looking at the lights, as the cars will stop and go throughout the display. The entrance is at 2100 College Ave in Alton. The light show is turned on starting November 24th, Monday to Friday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays & Sundays until December 27th. A suggested $7 donation per car or $1/person for vehicles with over ten people.

Colorful Trees at Christmas Wonderland

Christmas Wonderland is a drive-thru light display that my mom and I have been going through almost every time I come into town for the holidays. The year I went, I was pleasantly surprised when the truck paid for my car’s donation in front of me. Thank you for the fantastic pay-it-forward gift!

Christmas Lights Wonderland – Greenville

Christmas Lights Wonderland in Greenville, Illinois

This is one light display that you can easily see from I-70, but most people don’t take the time to visit it. What a lovely surprise it was! The light display is in the American Tractor Museum and has a single one-way route through the displays. I was so glad not to rush through this as there are over 50 lightboxes to see. Most of them are on the car’s passenger (right) side. While driving solo, I had to stop the vehicle for each lightbox to see what was in them.

These lightboxes are so creative. You can find everything here, from the traditional nativity and holiday scenes, Santa and Rudolph, and even the Peanuts gang make an appearance. Hot Chocolate and cookies will be available in the Lil’ Red Barn. Hopefully, that sways you to visit this fascinating light display in Greenville.

Santa relaxing at Christmas Lights Wonderland

Important things to note: The entry is at the American Tractor Museum at 1395 Museum Ave in Greenville. The light boxes and displays turn nightly from November 24th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. until December 31st. The cost to enter is by donating as much as you want.

Way of Lights – Belleville

Way of Lights in Belleville, Illinois

Another unique holiday event to add to your list is to explore the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. You can expect an incredible light display with over a million lights annually. But, there are more than lights here. You can make stops at a couple of places for more family fun. The first stop is filled with live animals. You can get some beautiful photos of your children feeding the animals in the petting zoo or getting camel, donkey, or pony rides.

Feeding the animals at Lady of the Snow Lights

The second stop is indoors in the chapel. Inside, you can find the choir singing beautiful Christmas carols. After listening to the lovely music, you can browse through the creatively decorated Christmas trees and wreaths before you head back out to your vehicle to finish driving through the light display.

Carolers at Lady of the Snow Lights

For over 50 years, Our Lady of the Snows has been welcoming over 350,000 visitors during each holiday season and shared the Birth of Christ story. Attending the Way of Lights is a magical evening of laughter and smiles; it’s a great reminder of what the Christmas season is all about.

Light Tunnel at the Way of Lights

Important things to note: Traffic is heavy entering the Light Display. The entrance is at 442 South DeMazenod in Belleville. The light show runs daily starting November 17th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. until December 31st. There is no cost to enter the light display. However, additional costs to feed the animals and the camel and pony rides exist. See more photos in the Way of Lights blog post.

Wonderlight’s Christmas – World Wide Technology Raceway, Madison

Wonderlight’s Christmas at World Wide Technology Raceway

Wonderlight’s Christmas is the St. Louis area’s largest synchronized holiday light show. The light display has over a million lights in a two-mile route in the raceway center. You must turn your radio to 89.5 FM to hear the lights synced with the music. There is a 50-minute loop of music timed with the lights. And this is about the time to get through the entire display. It is bumper-to-bumper at the beginning of the route with the dancing candy canes and lollipops. Then as you wind through the presentation, the cars start to space out, letting you enjoy the floating snowflakes, dancing trees, and the five long tunnels of lights.

Snowflake Tunnel of Lights at Wonderlight’s Christmas

Important things to note: Traffic is extremely heavy. There are two lanes of traffic winding outside the display, and they all merge into one line for the light display. Please bring your patience as it took me an hour and a half to get to the light show entrance, and I arrived there at 6 p.m. The line behind me looked even longer than when I arrived. The good news is that port-a-johns are sporadically placed while you wait in line to enter the Raceway.

The entrance to the Raceway is from Collinsville Rd. The light show begins on November 17th from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and until December 31st. There is a $7 fee per person, and a carload of up to 7 people is $30. You can purchase your tickets at the gate or online . The World Wide Technology Raceway is at 700 Raceway Blvd in Madison.

Green Tunnel of Lights at Wonderlight’s Christmas

I was not impressed with how long I had to wait to get into the display, and then it seemed a little slow to begin with. The last portion of the show was more exciting, but by then, you were driving too fast to capture anything on your phone without it blurring. Would I go again? Probably not, but I enjoyed rocking out to the Carol of Bells and even the Christmas Vacation song.

Our guide was so caring, patient, and knowledgeable. Even funny at times cracking a joke through the chilly air. 10 out of 10 experience and I highly recommend for couples, youth groups, and families without toddlers (they may grow boredsome with the tour....Nobody enjoys a crabby tot, lol). • Sheri T 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Not worth the money NOT worth the cost!! It is disappointing when the way the tour reads and the reality do not match. We do tours in every city or country we travel to - this was the worst experience we have encountered. I want to be clear that the tour guide was charming, but if he plans the half day adventures, he needs to up his game. I am writing to save you money on the over priced, mediocre experience. For the price -we expected a combination of learning about St Louis, landmarks and personal service at each brewery. For that price I expected ALOT more. What we received was a ride to 4 locations and conversation with our guide- he was not there to do much more than drive us to our destination and “pay” (which lets be clear is what you already paid). If you are looking to just have a glorified Uber take you to a few breweries and want to pay this much for it - then go for it. I tried to work with this tour company OPATRIP to lower their price? Or get partial refund for this mediocre experience- but they said no. Read more Written November 6, 2023

  • Lisa W 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Architectural history, not romantic The tour was filled with architectural history facts while walking around the neighborhood. We primarily looked at houses that were built in the 18th century and where some old breweries used to be. It was a good historical tour but not what we were expecting for “romantic”. At the very beginning, the tour guide asked us what kinds of things we wanted to see, and when we said it was titled a “romantic tour” he admitted he didn’t really know what that meant so he gave us his normal tour. He gave a decent tour, but it was not anything we thought we’d signed up for. Read more Written September 4, 2022

St. Louis Christmas Spectacular Tour provided by Opatrip.com Saint Louis, Missouri

Start the Holidays with Dazzling Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights

Make plans to go see a million twinkle lights sparkling on the historic brick buildings of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery.

This is a family friendly, outdoor event on the home campus of Anheuser-Busch in Soulard. It has everything you need to kick off a St. Louis Christmas: holiday cheer, Clydesdales, s’mores, games for the kids, beer for the grown ups and tons of fun.

anheuser-busch campus with twinkle lights

The bad news? There’s a price for admission in 2023 and tickets are limited to keep crowds reasonable, so you really need to make an RSVP online now.

Psst: Want to know where the other good drive through shows are this year? I’ve got a list of a dozen other places to see lights in St. Louis!

When Are the Brewery Lights Open?

Anheuser-Busch will open the gates every weekend from Thanksgiving to the end of December 2023.

They will NOT be open on Christmas Eve, Christmas or New Years Eve.

You can buy timed tickets for Brewery Lights, with slots being offered at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. You can stay as long as you like, the event closes at 10pm.

Free Driving Tour in 2023

If you just want to see the lights, you can drive through the campus Mon-Tues-Wed. Guests will enter off of Arsenal Street, and will drive their vehicles up and down Pestalozzi Street. You can drive through from 5 to 10pm.

It’s not as fun as the walk through light display, but if you’re in the neighborhood, you ought to stop.

The website doesn’t mention this is an option, but I’ve asked the Brewery about it and it’s back on!

brewery lights st louis

Price: $12 for adults, $5 for minors, Free for kids under 5

For a little extra you can buy s’more kits, craft beer, toasted rav & pretzels.

New this year (and INCLUDED in admission) are guided Brew House tours and a self-guided tour of the Old Lyon Schoolhouse Museum.

Wait, what about Parking?

Parking hasn’t been a problem for us, there’s plenty of space to park on the brewery lots. AB security is also highly visible. Parking is still free, and there’s NO reserved spots for VIP packages. Its all first come, first served.

So what’s this Tour like?

They’ve added a huge 50 foot digital holiday tree and an all new light show that lasts 10 minutes! The show is really cool with speakers hidden inside the tree and street decorations. The nearby trees and some of the buildings blink along with the music. Plus, there’s a parade each night at 7:30 (which includes the Clydesdales).

The kid zone has been expanded and now features a live DJ playing family friendly tunes for the little ones.

Brewery Lights in St. Louis tunnel

It’s a self-guided tour, unlike a daytime visit to the brewery.

This is no long a beer ‘sampling’ event, but everyone over 21 will be treated to a full size (16oz!) beer. To avoid lines inside the event, they are checking IDs and handing out complementary beer in the visitor center parking lot, BEFORE entering the lobby and checking your ticket.

Check out Lager Landing for photo ops, picnic tables and a nice bathroom. Public fire pits are located by the big digital tree for warming up and roasting s’mores.

And yes, the gift shop is open.

holiday lights

Naturally, you’re free to purchase more beer if you like. The indoor bar is open and the beer garden is tented (and heated!) with another bar and plenty of seating. You could also purchase s’more kits at the bar if you forgot to add one when you made your reservation.

If you’re hungry for more, the Biergarten is selling toasted rav & pretzels and more from 5pm to 8pm.

Tram and Trains

The tram is still not running this year, but honestly, we haven’t seen it since 2018. It’s a short walk, so this really isn’t a big deal.

The kiddie train ride down by the bottling building is getting a new route and this year goes through a 40 foot tall snowman. The cars are big enough to accommodate grown ups if you want to ride along too.

Clydesdale Photos

The historic Clydesdale stable is open for a meet and greet with one of the horses. Bring your own camera, or add a professional pic for $10.

But wait! THERE’S MORE! You can book a private fire pit for a group of up to 8 people. (If you have more than 8, you can book additional fire pits.) They’re not cheap at $450 so you’ll want to grab some friends, but you get WAY more than just a cozy haybale of your own.

This year the Fire Pit package comes with access to a heated hospitality tent & private bathrooms, complimentary beer and soft drinks for the whole night, a buffet, s’more kits and souvenir cups.

Garden Glow Holiday Lights at the Missouri Botanical Garden

Tom Incrocci / Missouri Botanical Garden

The Missouri Botanical Garden has become an essential stop on every St. Louisan's holiday agenda. This dome-shaped conservatory located in the Botanical Heights neighborhood glows during the month of December—hence the program's title, Garden Glow. The annual Christmas light display, consisting of an illuminated geodesic dome, debuted in 2012 and is now one of the most popular things to do in the Gateway City, beloved by people of all ages.

Dates & Admission

The Garden Glow display typically opens in mid-November and closes in early January. Viewing hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. between November 11, 2020, and January 2, 2021, but during this season, all attendees will require a reservation. Garden Glow is open on Thanksgiving Day, but closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. General admission is $20 for adults, $16 for Garden members, and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. There are also select Bargain Nights (between November 12 and December 17) which offer $2 off admission for adults. On Family Nights, children get in for $3 and adults get $2 off admission.

One million twinkling lights bring this botanical garden to life. They cover the Climatron (the dome), the Kaeser Memorial Maze (a labyrinth made from hedges), and other popular exhibits around the estate. You'll find the lawn covered with magical glowing bulbs and rainbow colors reflecting off the ponds. Every year is a little bit different, which keeps the locals coming back time and again. Walk through the display first, then head over to Tower Grove House to see a Victorian Candlelight Christmas display. There will be live music, food, festive drinks (like hot chocolate), shopping, and outdoor fire pits (with s'mores).

The Missouri Botanical Garden occupies 79 acres in what used to be called McRee Town, but is now more commonly known as the Botanical Heights neighborhood of St. Louis. Located at 4344 Shaw Boulevard just off I-44, it's roughly a 10-minute drive from downtown. The Missouri Botanical Garden borders Tower Grove Park, and in the summertime, is the site of Sauce Magazine's Food Truck Fridays .

The Garden has a free parking lot, but you can also get there by MetroBus via the stops on Shaw Boulevard at Tower Grove Avenue and Alfred Avenue.

Other Holiday Events at the Garden

Garden Glow isn't the only Christmas display at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Avid gardeners will enjoy the Holiday Wreath Display, in which more than a dozen local floral designers display their nature-inspired creations in Bayer Hall, able to be viewed on Garden Glow evenings. The wreaths are also on display online .

There's also the Gardenland Express Holiday Flower and Train Show, where mini locomotives make their way along 900 feet of track through heartwarming holiday scenes, but in 2020, the event was canceled.
