New Starbucks Been There Disney World Mugs

Starbucks has released its new “Been There” series of mugs for Walt Disney World, with designs for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. In this post, we visit each of the coffee shops selling the cups, share photos, and offer thoughts as compared to the previous “You Are Here” series of Disney Starbucks mugs.

I’ve been slowly warming to the whole Starbucks mug trend. In our Fountain View Starbucks Review from a couple of years ago, I remarked that while I like the mug designs, I’m not into the Starbucks co-branding. I have nothing against Starbucks and am certainly not one of those people jumping aboard the “it’s hip to hate Starbucks because it’s popular” I just don’t really want the logo on my mugs.

My issue is more about the idea of traveling to cool places and bringing back a Starbucks souvenir, of all things, rather than bringing back something unique and original. Whether true or not, that sends a message about how you experienced that place, within the comfort zone of the ubiquitous Starbucks chain.

With Walt Disney World, this is obviously less of an issue. It’s simply a matter of merchandise from one corporate behemoth or the other…or both. However, when we’ve traveled elsewhere in the past, I’ve found myself eyeing these Starbucks mugs but often passing because I’m preoccupied with the impression.

More recently, we’ve bought them anyway. In a lot of places, souvenir mugs are not exactly the pinnacle of graphic design. Many are downright hideous. By contrast, the Starbucks mugs generally have clean, attractive, and clever styles. So, while I may not want to send the ‘message’ to people that I visited Starbucks instead of a local coffee shop in Japan via my mug, the alternatives are often kitschy and hideous.

As someone who enjoys collecting things, there’s also that element at play. Now that we’ve purchased a few due to lack of better options, we suddenly want more of the Starbucks mugs…from everywhere we go. Naturally, this led me down an online rabbit hole “researching” these mugs and trying to find past designs.

To my surprise, Starbucks has done various lines of mugs since 1994, with several series and tons of designs before the popular “You Are Here” mugs debuted a few years ago. I’ll spare you a full essay on what I learned, but here’s the ‘jumping off’ point that led me to several other places…and eBay. (Sarah, if you’re reading this… just kidding!)

Anyway, the new “Been There” Starbucks line debuted last June and has slowly been replacing the “You Are Here” mugs in cities and places throughout the world. In April 2019, these debuted at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Here’s a park by park look at the new designs…

First up is Magic Kingdom, which replaces the previous Tomorrowland-centric You Are Here mug. As you can see, the approach here is more broad, with every land in the park represented instead of a single land. Details include a Hitchhiking Ghost, Dumbo, Astro Orbiter, it’s a small world, Cinderella Castle, Dole Whip, Premium Mickey Ice Cream Bars, and more.

Personally, I appreciate the ‘deep cuts’ like Sammy, the raccoon who lives in Henry’s hat from Country Bear Jamboree. It’s nice to see things like this from a third party, especially when Disney’s own merchandise team doesn’t seem to know whether Expedition Everest is in California or Florida.

Next up, Epcot. There have been several good Starbucks and Disney collaborations for Epcot, and we featured a few of them in the aforementioned Fountain View post. Still, it seems like the most talked about and coveted Epcot mug is the initial blunder featuring monorail purple.

This new mug highlights iconic EPCOT attractions such as the original Journey into Imagination, Spaceship Earth, Kitchen Kabaret, and the “21st Century Begins Today” tagline. The color choices evoking Figment are also a nice touch. We haven’t purchased any of these mugs yet, but this will be the one we get, if we buy any.

While Star Tour is present (twice), conspicuously absent from the Disney’s Hollywood Studios mug is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly a follow-up to this mug is released.

As with the You Are Here collection, the new Been There mugs come with a sturdy Pin Drop Collection box that’s cobranded with the Disney Parks logo and the line’s slogan: “Take your favorite places and spaces with you.”

Finally, we have Animal Kingdom’s mug, with imagery representative of that park’s attractions and entertainment, with the exception of Pandora – World of Avatar.

Note that the new Been There mugs are $19.99, as compared to $16.99 for the You Are Here Starbucks mugs at Walt Disney World. It’s also worth noting that, at least for the time being, you can still purchase the You Are Here mugs on ShopDisney –we assume that won’t be the case for long, so move quickly if you want the previous You Are Here WDW designs!

Overall, the new Been There Starbucks mugs are generally nice. I’m not totally sold on the art style yet as compared to the You Are Here mugs, but that could just be a matter of familiarity. I do really like the new Epcot mug, and love that Starbucks continues to harken back to the EPCOT Center incarnation of the park. Either there’s a fan on the Starbucks design team, or they know what sells among fans.

I just found your article while looking for a resource that will give details on the images for the Been There mugs. We have started collecting them as we travel in our RV. We found the state mugs first while traveling down to Disney World earlier this year (2021) and then found the mugs for the four parks. We did buy them. I am such a collector. We have trouble understanding what some of the icons on the state mugs represent. Do you have a resource for them?

I am doing a resort only stay soon. How can I get the mugs without going into the parks?

You can’t. I thought I could get them at Disney springs. Only the Florida one is there. And you cannot use Starbucks stars for them in the parks just an FYI. You must actually pay for them. 🙂

I DO NOT like the Been There art at all… I lived the original art, and that is what I collect.. The Disney Parks were the last to carry the YOU ARE HERE mugs, and I am so sad they dont have them anymore..

With the Fountainview closing, where will I be able to get the Epcot mug?

They are selling these mugs in the temporary mouse gear shop in epcot.

Will there also be an ornament version for these mugs? I have a friend going to Disney and would love to have this series but I’m ornaments.

Disney World Just Released a NEW Starbucks Mug Collection, and It’s Already Trending

If cleaning out your mugs was on your 2024 resolutions list, this may not be the post for you.

But if you’re in the market for a new mug and you’re a big Disney and Starbucks fan , we’ve got some great news for you. We recently visited Magic Kingdom  and spotted some NEW mugs you need to see!

There’s an exclusive new Disney Starbucks Discovery Series out NOW, and the first one we spotted was the Magic Kingdom Mug for $24.99 !

This mug has a white base and features Magic Kingdom’s classic logo on the front, surrounded by Magic Kingdom icons like Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, Dumbo, a Mickey Ears hat, and so many more. You can find this mug at Main Street Bakery and the Emporium.

Over in EPCOT, you can also grab the Starbucks Discovery Series EPCOT Mug for $24.99 ! We found this one at the Creations Shop.

Just like the Magic Kingdom mug, it has the EPCOT logo on one side, surrounded by iconic attractions like Test Track, Spaceship Earth, Cosmic Rewind, and more.

And if you find yourself over on the West Coast, you can find the Starbucks Discovery Series Disneyland Mug ! On this mug, you’ll find Sorcerer Mickey, Sleeping Beauty Castle, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and more.

NEW Disney Parks Starbucks Espresso Mugs Arrive at Disney World

If you have been following us here at MickeyBlog, then you are aware of the Starbucks Discovery Line of Disney mugs.

Released exclusively at Walt Disney World, the set of four mugs celebrates the attractions, characters, and icons that make Walt Disney World so special.

Starbucks Discovery Series Magic Kingdom Mug

While we have previously brought you updates on the new mugs that arrived at all four Walt Disney World parks , something a little bit different has now arrived!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Espresso Mug

When visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we learned that Starbucks and Disney are now releasing espresso-sized versions of the Discovery Series mugs!

Once again, this espresso cup is made up of the characters and attractions that make Disney’s Animal Kingdom so special.

The front of the mug features Nemo, Marlin, and Dory alongside Expedition Everest, the Tree of Life, and a Kilimanjaro Safaris ride vehicle.

The back of the cup, meanwhile, features the floating mountains of Pandora. If you look closely, you can even spot a banshee.

If you are a fan of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, then this is the mug for you! You can get it now for $19.99!

EPCOT Discovery Series Espresso Mug

Moving from Disney’s Animal Kingdom to EPCOT, we have another new Starbucks Discovery Series espresso mug.

This time, the mug is all about Walt Disney World’s second park.

The front of the cup features Figment, the EPCOT logo, Spaceship Earth, and a Soarin’ hang glider.

The back of the mug meanwhile features Remy cooking up something delicious.

As you can see, this espresso mug is much smaller than the traditional coffee mug previously sold in the park.

Where to find Starbucks in Animal Kingdom

One of the great things about Disney World is that you can find Starbucks at all four of the Disney parks ! If you are hoping to get a coffee on your way to Pandora, the World of Avatar first thing in the morning, you will be glad to know that the Starbucks in Animal Kingdom isn’t too far!

Once you are through the entrance and over the bridge, most everyone will be going to line up for Pandora on the left of the park.

You will find Starbucks in the Creature Comforts building on your left.

Send someone in your group over to Starbucks so you can enjoy your first cup of coffee in the park while you are waiting in line!

Animal Kingdom Starbucks Menu

All of the Starbucks at Disney World have the same menu so you won’t have to worry about anything being that different than your traditional Starbucks.

In fact, the Starbucks in Animal Kingdom have Disney magic, something that only Disney restaurants have. 

Besides the typical Starbucks drinks and pound cakes, you will find some great Disney treats in the case.

One of the most popular that is found at the Starbucks in Animal Kingdom is the colossal Cinnamon roll in the shape of Mickey Mouse.

Notice that it is also on the Disney dining plan ?

You can use the Disney Dining plan snack credits for both beverages and for certain snacks!

At $7.49 for the Colossal Cinnamon roll, this is a great way to use those snack credits!

Disney Animal Kingdom Starbucks Mugs & Tumblers

At each of the Disney Park Starbucks, you will find unique Disney Starbucks mugs & merchandise.

While the tumblers above are available at all of the Disney World Starbucks, only the You Are Here Animal Kingdom Starbucks mugs can be found inside the Animal Kingdom Starbucks location.

Something else you will find at Starbucks in the Disney parks is free water dispensers.

Animal Kingdom park tends to feel like it is the hottest of the parks.

I think it is because the trees lock in the heat and prevent you from getting a breeze. You will want to stop by the Starbucks to enjoy an ice cold water!

Ways you can pay at Animal Kingdom for Starbucks Coffee

• Want to pay with your Starbucks App? You can and you can earn points, but unfortunately, you can’t use points to get free drinks.
• You can, however, use those Disney Dining Plan Snack Credits for any beverage and snacks with the purple Disney Dining label.
• If you are staying at a Disney Resort and using MagicBands, they are accepted. Other forms of payment are credit cards, Disney gift cards and of course, cash.

Starbucks Debuts NEW Disney World 50th Anniversary Mugs and Ornaments!

If you’ve followed us this week, you know we’ve been enjoying everything that Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration has to offer.

LOTS of merchandise!

And it’s been A LOT. There’s a new character cavalcade , TWO new nighttime shows ( Harmonious and Disney Enchantment ), new park maps , new food , and more! But we’ve also really loved all the new 50th Anniversary merchandise we’ve seen.

Speaking of merchandise, one of our favorite souvenirs to buy are Disney mugs — they’re stylish AND functional. One of our favorite mug collections is the “Been There” series from Starbucks — there’s one for each park! I {LOVE} these cups & collect them 🙂 I bought the one from Animal Kingdom today & went to Magic Kingdom to purchase one but they haven’t released it or the Epcot 🙁 So I’m not sure if they are releasing them at a different time. I am glad to see Hollywood Studios did release theirs.

The Magic Kingdom and Epcot 50th Anniversary Been There mugs were never released. There are earlier versions for these two parks, but not 50th Anniversary versions to match the recent Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom releases. There are other items like Magic Kingdom tote bags and Epcot pins to suggest they have the 50th Anniversary artwork for the two other mugs, but they haven’t hit the shelves so far. They aren’t rare or sold out either. As of November 1st, a month after the 50th anniversary, there is not a single image of either one online. Some park cast members have said they’ve seen them, but others admit they never arrived. Blame the supply chain problems?

Moscow Mule Ingredients for 16 oz Mug 1/2 Ounce Lime Juice/Lime Slice  2 Ounces Vodka (or more if you've had a rough day)  6 Ounces Ginger Beer  Fresh Ice and Solid Copper Mule Mug Squeeze lime juice into a Solid Copper Moscow Mule mug and drop in the spent shell.
