Travel Recap: Review of Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya in Mexico

For my very first trip to Mexico, we booked 5 nights at the all-inclusive resort Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya . Some of our good friends have been to this resort several times now and were heading back for another trip, so we decided to join them -- and I'm so glad we did!

tip travel imperial

Since we didn't leave the resort except for our scuba-diving trip, this travel recap will serve mostly as a review of the  Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya . Overall, I highly recommend it -- and I can see now why our friends, and so many others, continue to return to the resort!

tips and advice:

 • The resort is all-inclusive, so we paid upfront and all our meals, drinks, and lodging were included. When we arrived, we did choose to upgrade to the "privilege club" package, which includes a reserved pool or beach cabana, lobster at dinner, and several bottles of alcohol in your room, for an additional daily expense. The resort itself was beautiful, with two pools (the "party" pool and the "quiet" pool), access to the beach, and amazing restaurants.
 • I feel as though the food at all-inclusive resorts is usually more of an afterthought rather than a main feature, but all the food at the Valentin Imperial was  excellent . I wanted to spend every minute we had at every single one of the restaurants.
 • Every single one of the staff members at this resort were lovely and went above and beyond their job duties. We brought money for tips, since tipping isn't a part of the all-inclusive package, to express our gratitude.
 • We booked our trip when the resort was running a special, making it much budget-friendly!
 • The focus of this resort is definitely its pools, among the largest in the area. I personally prefer pools to the beach (in the words of Anakin Skywalker, "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere"), so I was more than happy to spend time at the pool. That being said, I would have loved for the ocean to be more visible from the pool or the main area. If you want your trip to Mexico to revolve around the ocean, I'd double-check whether this is the right resort for you (although I have also read some Valentin Imperial reviews where people did spend a lot of time at the beach!). Lastly, check in advance if it's seaweed season if that's the sort of thing that would bother you.

tip travel imperial

 • I love sweet drinks, but most of the frozen drinks were too sweet for me, so I stuck to more simple drinks.
 • We went at the beginning of May 2021, so because of COVID, the resort wasn't operating at full capacity and some things weren't available like they otherwise would be (like an ice cream cart!), but there were things like a churro cart! We were required to take a COVID test at the resort before we returned home to the U.S., which the resort handled and wasn't a bad experience at all (especially compared to a painfully uncomfortable COVID test I'd gotten in the U.S.). We received our (negative!) results within a few hours of the swab. (And everyone in my group of 7 had received their vaccination shots before our trip.)
 • I did buy bug spray, but I didn't end up using it at all because we weren't there during the bug season (post-wet season).
 • The resort is adults only -- which I personally prefer.
 • Make sure you pack appropriate clothes! Pants and closed-toe shoes are required for men at the restaurants for dinner.
 • Also, pack conditioner! There was shampoo and body wash but not conditioner in our room (funnily enough, we had the same situation in our hotel in Dublin, Ireland).
 • Since we stayed for 5 nights, the resort handled our transportation to and from the airport, which was a very nice perk and relieved us of any stress of trying to find/schedule our own way.

tip travel imperial

 • We arrived at the resort on Wednesday and left on Monday, so we were there a total of 5 nights.
 • A typical day for me included a morning run around 9am; meeting for breakfast around 9:30am; spending the morning in the "party" pool and playing volleyball; grabbing poolside lunch or heading to one of the restaurants; switching to the "quiet" pool in the afternoon; heading back to the room to shower around 5pm; making our way to dinner around 7 or 7:30pm; and then listening to the live music in the main area for the rest of the night! The Imperial Band played from 10:20pm until midnight, and they were so talented that I was in awe!
 • My husband and I did book one excursion -- scuba-diving -- on Saturday morning from 7:20am until about 2pm. This was an additional cost and included an approximately 90-minute lesson, both in and out of the pool, then taking a van to the beach, where we visited 2 spots out in the water and dove for 30 and 45 minutes, respectively.  The scuba-diving lesson was much more comprehensive and intense than our Great Barrier Reef scuba-diving , where our lesson took place out on the boat and lasted under 30 minutes.

where to eat and drink:

There are so many restaurant options at this resort, and they were all delicious.

 • The French restaurant L’Alsace was my absolute favorite! We ate here twice and I ordered escargot, duck, and crème brûlée both times!
 • I also loved Ginger, the Japanese restaurant -- we ate here twice, one of which was hibachi, and both times were extremely tasty. Highly recommend the Mayan sushi combo and the green tea ice cream.
 • The Italian restaurant L’Olivo was good, but it was our first night and we didn't know what to expect, so I feel like we didn't make the most of it and wish we could have gone back!
 • We ate breakfast and lunch at Mar y Tierra, and I loved my eggs Benedict and calamari.
 • We ate at Le Marché several times for lunch and breakfast -- this buffet had so many options.
 • We somehow did not eat at the Mexican restaurant La Hacienda -- whoops!

tip travel imperial

what to do:

 • The resort offers many additional excursions to sign up for and take, though they're not included in the all-inclusive price we'd already paid.
 • Between the privilege club upgrade and scuba-diving, our costs were adding up, so we didn't add any other excursions, but I do wish we'd had the opportunity to do a cenote or ruins in Tulum -- the resort has so many options!
 • Highly recommend scuba diving. The instructor took it very seriously and made sure we were all comfortable and knowledgeable.
 • The resort also offers water aerobics classes, workout classes (including TRX, yoga, and a 5K run), massages, wine-tasting, etc -- and apparently fish pedicures during non-COVID times!

links I used or recommend:

Since we were going with friends, we didn't anticipate leaving the resort, and we knew we'd book any excursions directly through the resort, I didn't do as much research as I usually do. However -- I do genuinely love travel recaps and reviews, so I did check some out just for fun!

tip travel imperial

Were there a lot of people at the resort? Were there a lot of open places at pool and beach?

tip travel imperial

Hi Ashley, it did not seem crowded at all -- I think I heard the resort was operating at 50% capacity, although it may have been more. Regardless, we didn't have long waits at any restaurants or bars (though we always made dinner reservations in advance, I believe usually first thing in the morning), and we had plenty of space in the pool. With the privilege club upgrade, we received reserved cabanas at the pool and beach, too. I hope this is helpful! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

While you said you didnt book many excisions due to lack of time, in hind sight, could you say if doing so through the resort would be more expensive than going through a local tour agency? I'll be staying at VIM, and want to do a few excursions, but am mindful of budget! Thanks for the helpful review!

Hi there, thank you for reading and for your comment! Unfortunately, I don't know how the price would change if you went through a local tour agency. I personally felt more peace of mind going through VIM, knowing the resort was responsible and had vetted the excursion. When is your trip? I hope you have a wonderful time!

did you book your stay directly through the hotel or through a third party?

We booked directly through the hotel, as they were offering a good Black Friday deal (and I know they periodically offer good deals throughout the year!).

Hello! While this review is a few years old I really appreciate your honest and thorough review. A few questions for you as my wife and I are considering a trip there in the near future. Did you stay in or spend any time near the swim up suites and the pool system there? Was drink service service available there? (Unlikely but worth asking) Two years later, now having traveled even more, do you still recommend this location as highly for an all inclusive resort?

Hi Zach, and thank you for reading! Apologies for my late response, I was in Yellowstone National Park without much service. Although we didn't stay in a swim-up suite, we did spend time in that pool (usually in the afternoon as we were winding down/starting to think about dinner), and there are bars that specifically service that pool. I don't believe they're IN the pool (the way the bars/bar stools are in the other pool), but they're right next to it (and there are servers who walk around checking on guests). And yes, I would! The friends that we went with have been several times, and we have two other friends who actually booked the resort without realizing that's where we went and then planned a follow-up vacation the next year as well. And a LOT of the guests we spoke to were return visitors. I was happy with the food (seriously, so good), the pools, our room, the band at the end of the night, and the excursions offered (and was very impressed with how seriously our scuba diving instructor took teaching us). I'm sure it's even better now that pandemic restrictions have eased because I believe there were some things they usually offer that they didn't during the pandemic (like workout classes, an ice cream cart, etc). There is also a private Facebook group with something like 40K members that you could request to join if you want to see others' posts about it to see if it's somewhere you'd like to go! I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions :)

Hi Sarah, was your scuba dive excursion through the hotel? Did they take you to Cozumel to dive?

Hi there! Our excursion was booked through the resort (and our 90-minute lesson before diving was done in the pool at the resort), but we did not go to Cozumel. They drove us to Puerto Morelos and we got on the boat from there, where they took us out into the water. Please let me know if there's anything else I can answer for you!

Tipping is a personal decision with passionate opinions on both sides so do what's comfortable for you.

That being said, here is a borrowed post from another message board that puts an interesting light on the "tips included" portion of an all inclusive.

"When you go to an AI, they tell you "tipping is included". Well it is BUT here is the scoop my husband and I found out. Last year when we made our first trip to the Lindo, we met a waiter who we became friends with throughout the week. We have kept in close contact with him via email throughout the year. When we returned to the Lindo a few weeks ago, we had dinner off the resort with him and his family two nights. He and his brother (who works at Mayan Palace as a room service captain) were telling us about the tipping. When you purchase an AI vacation, a percentage of that goes toward the tips. It breaks down to about $2 PER DAY PER TOURIST. IB* paraiso (lindo, beach, del mar, maya, grand) has about 3,000 employees. So my measly $2 per day gets split between 3,000 employees-do the math on that- not much. So when occupancy is higher, the tipping bonus for employees is higher and lower during lower occupancy. This I would guess, is only a few dollars per week. These tips are split between all employees- waiters, bartenders, those cleaning the bathrooms, pool, etc.

' class=

Tipping is NEVER mandatory at an All-Inclusive, OR expected-EVER.

However, we always DO tip. It is amazing how a few dollars can change someone's day-and for us that's a big motivation.

But, never feel that it is expected-that's why those of us who DO tip get such great response and treatment

tip travel imperial

I think the main reason people tip is because they received good service. Yes, tipping is included in AI resorts, but we always tip because we know how little the workers generally make. We do not tip a lot compared to what you would tip in the States. Here is what we usually do:

1. Bartenders...$5.00 per day( we usually go to the same bar all day)

2. Maid...$3.00 per day laid out on our pillows

3. Bell person...$2.00

4. Waitress/waiter at ala carte...$3.00

Then various others. If I see a grounds keeper working really hard I will walk up and give them a few dollars. You do not HAVE to tip. As you can see, it isn't a lot, just something. We usually take $100.00 in $1.00 bills per week for tipping. Do not go feeling that you must, and do not let the thought of this get you worked up...you have enough stress to deal with with the wedding:) I hope this helps a bit. It is a choice to tip, NOT mandatory:)

hi, we stayed at the VIM and did tip. The service was excellent and we wanted to recognize the staff. There is no obligation - we just wanted to eg housecleaning, bar service, golf cart driver (elevator wasn't working the day we arrived so he carried our bags to the 2d floor), restaurant staff.

7 ways to travel more sustainably.

Sustainable travel can be fun, rewarding and not at all challenging

Sustainable travel is surging in popularity, but what does it mean? The vague term can refer to traveling in a way that’s conscientious of the environment and local communities, leaving less of an impact on a destination and perhaps even bettering the location in the process. Sustainable tourism, in many ways a reaction to overtourism, helps protect the planet, to ensure destinations are liveable and worth visiting for years to come. And while travel can certainly takes its toll, creating carbon emissions, waste and more, responsible tourism is an essential step in protecting the planet.

Sustainable Travel Tips

Responsible tourism helps the environment by limiting ecological impact, supporting indigenous wildlife, respecting cultural heritage, and not taking away from a destination as a visitor, be it removing a shell from a beach or littering on a hiking trail. Plenty of responsible travel itineraries are easily replicable, but many trips can be adapted to be more sustainable. There are so many ways, big and small, to travel more responsibly and sustainably. Here’s how to start:

1. TSA-Friendly Doesn’t Need To Be Earth Hostile

You can buy single use and tiny versions of pretty much every care product these days, but do you actually need to? Opt for refillable travel bottles to decant your normal products into, and you’ll always have TSA-friendly bottles of shampoo, lotion, whatever you need at the ready. If you prefer to travel without liquids, consider switching to bars of shampoo and conditioner toothpaste powder and other products, which are eco-friendly wherever you are.

Planning ahead can be a major factor in sustainable travel

2. Opt For Public Transit

Public transportation — buses, trains, light rail, etc. — is always more sustainable than a private ride. If possible, use public transit to get to and from your destination and learn your destination’s public transit system to navigate while you explore. Not only will you likely save money as well as lower your carbon footprint, you’ll get a taste of how locals live. If public transit isn’t an option, consider booking shared rides to the airport and excursions, or renting an electric or hybrid vehicle if driving solo is the only option.

Bitcoin Suddenly Braced For A 35 Trillion Halving Price Earthquake

New google play biometrics warning issued to all android users, apple watch series 9 hits all time low special offer price, 3. pack for low waste experiences.

A bit of planning ahead can save considerable landfill waste. Bringing a reusable coffee cup for morning coffee runs and reusable water bottle will hopefully cut down the amount of single-use items you purchase on the go. Other easy to pack items including a reusable travel utensil set, reusable straws and reusable earplugs can help avoid creating more waste on the road. If you’re someone who discards beach reads, consider switching to an e-reader. Pack tote bags to carry souvenirs or other items purchased on the road that won’t require disposable plastic bags.

4. Eat Conscientiously

Eating local is the best way for your diet to support local eco-systems. Not only does dining at independent, small businesses (e.g. not chains), support local business people, but can often have lower environmental impact than major franchised restaurants that ship ingredients and supplies across the country. Making lower impact choices, including eating mostly plant-based, when possible, can also make travel a bit greener. If you don’t have anything to do with leftovers, consider ordering with a bit more restriction so you aren’t creating an excess of food waste.

Local culinary experiences can be healthy, fulfilling and sustainable

5. Book A Sustainable Hotel

Staying at a property dedicated to sustainability can make a big impact, especially by showing the travel industry that this is a priority for hospitality. Hotels are offered various certifications to prove their sustainable status, which can be achieved as a remote eco-lodge or luxury property in a major city. Several hotels are seeking LEED certification , the Green Hotels Association has a collection of vendors who prioritize sustainability, and the Leading Hotels of the World has a sustainability collection of five star properties.

6. Buy Carbon Offsets

While we technically can’t undo the damage we cause to the environment, there are initiatives to at least mitigate it. Carbon offsets allow consumers to compensate for their carbon footprint by funding projects that reduce carbon dioxide pollution. CoolEffect.org can help you decide how much to give, based on trip itinerary and logistics. For example, to offset air travel, a roundtrip, 6-hour flight would add about 1.89 tons of CO2 per passenger, and $31.17 of carbon offsets would help mitigate that.

Some airlines offer the option to purchase carbon offsets alongside airfare

7. Slow Down Your Travel

Slow travel is a buzzword that’s emerged in the 2020s, when work and leisure travel aka bleisure have melded more than ever, and the concept of working and even socializing remotely is totally normalized. Rather than a quick jaunt back and forth, slow travel emphasizes taking your time with tourism, be it living in a rental property for a month and enjoying the sights on the weekends, going backpacking, biking or hiking for an extended off the grid period, or traveling via train instead of air. Slow tourism has been proven to have a positive environmental impact .

K četným "nej" Chorvatska razhodně patří Dalmácie - nejrozlehlejší a nejvíce navštěvovaný turistický region s největším počtem ostrovů, ostrůvků a útesů, kde majáky udávají směr lodím a plachetnicím, brázdícím vody Jadranu.

8 Plane Habits That Really Annoy Your Flight Attendants — and the Travel Accessories That Solve Them

These travel accessories ensure you’re not “that” passenger.

Travel + Leisure / Marcus Millan

Flight attendants play an important role in ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all airline passengers. Between preparing the cabin for takeoff and liaising important updates with the pilot and passengers, they serve as emergency responders in the air. Above all, flight attendants warrant your consideration and respect before, during, and after takeoff.

At Travel + Leisure , we aim to offer travel guides , inspiration, and tips to guarantee the safety and comfort of travel professionals, such as airline crew members, who work tirelessly to ensure our comfort. In fact, one of our contributors delved into the minds of flight attendants to compile a list of what passengers do that annoy flight attendants, and ever since, I’ve been dedicated to finding solutions for these easily avoidable flying faux pas.

I’ve gathered a comprehensive list of accessories that you should consider adding to your travel bag that address common annoyances. Below, you’ll discover why you should bring a reusable water bottle onboard and a legroom hack that’ll keep you from inconveniencing others. And the best part? All of these items can be found at Amazon starting at just $11.

Don’t: Ask for Water Immediately After Boarding

Do: Bring a Reusable Water Bottle

Hydro Flask Stainless Steel Water Bottle

One flight attendant told Travel & Leisure how frustrating it can be when passengers request water upon boarding, not realizing that they “only have a few minutes to get everyone seated and buckled up so that we can close the boarding door." If you anticipate being thirsty as soon as you sit, consider bringing a reusable water bottle like this insulated Hydro Flask one. The water bottle is a stellar choice for travel since it features a leak-proof flex cap and double-wall vacuum insulation, which means it’ll keep liquids hot or cold for hours.

Don’t: Stretch in the Middle of the Isle

Do: Get an Airplane Footrest

Basic Concepts Airplane Foot Hammock

A flight attendant expressed how frustrating it can be when people stretch their legs in the aisle. And we get it: Being crammed on a plane is far from the ideal way to start any trip. But there’s a solution to get more leg room without upgrading your seat: the Basic Concepts Portable Foot Hammock at Amazon. The footrest comes with an adjustable strap that can be wrapped around the seat tray in front of you for quick assembly. In fact, one frequent flier gushed that “they have no idea how I managed to travel without these in the past.” They continued, writing, “I usually have swelling when I fly, and this [footrest] helped alleviate any discomfort and allowed more space for my legs."

Don’t: Demand Snacks or Food After Service is Complete

Do: Pack a Snack

KIND Minis Dark Chocolate Nuts and Sea Salt Caramel Pack

If you sleep through snack time or refuse meal service, you might not be able to get food  later. Rather than go hungry, opt to pack a few extra snacks, like these mini KIND granola bars that are studded with nuts and won’t take up too much space in your bag.

Don’t: Ask for Headphones

Do: Bring a Bluetooth Connector

Isobel Store Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver

As important as in-flight entertainment is to a comfortable flight, it is not a prerequisite for a safe one. And with more people carrying cord-free Bluetooth headphones to watch movies during the flight, it’s a smart idea to bring a Bluetooth connector. To pair the two devices, simply power them both on and pair them to connect. It’s that easy. This device is also rechargeable and can hold up to 10 hours of playtime.

Don’t: Ask for a Pillow or Blanket

Do: Pack Travel-sized Versions of Your Own

Pavila 2-in-1 Travel Pillow Blanket

We promise you’ll become the most popular passenger if you take the time to properly prepare for your flight. This includes bringing your own pillow and blanket. Opt for this innovative two-in-one pillow and blanket set that comes with a compact pillow and ultra soft blanket. When neatly packed, it measures in at just 11 inches by 12 inches and comes with a convenient strap that effortlessly attaches to your suitcase.

Don’t: Put Your Backpack in an Overhead Bin

Do: Get a Compact Backpack or Underseat Carry-on

Matein Large Travel Backpack

Overhead bin space is precious and designated for larger carry-on suitcases and duffels — not backpacks. If you’re struggling to fit your backpack underneath your seat, take that as a sign that it’s time for an upgrade. Opt instead for this $32 backpack that I refuse to travel without . It’s equipped with plenty of spacious compartments, is easy to carry, and features proactive padding for personal belongings, all while remaining compact enough to tuck under your seat.

Amazon Basics Underseat Carry-on

Another great lightweight option that fits under your seat is this Amazon basics carry-on bag. This soft-side rolling carry-on is specifically designed to fit under airplane seats, making it an excellent option for business travel, short weekends, and more. At roughly 13.4 inches by 9.5 inches by 14 inches, this carry-on bag is designed to hold plenty of items, yet remains compact enough to slide under the seat.

Don’t: Ask Your Flight Attendant to Help with a Bag That's Clearly Too Heavy

Do: Get a Lightweight Carry-on Instead

Travelers Club Chicago Hardside Spinner 20-inch Carry-on

Flight attendants don’t get paid until the aircraft takes off , so if they get injured during the boarding process they are not eligible for workers’ compensation. It’s important to pack a bag that you can lift yourself, and that begins with a lightweight carry-on. Claiming the highly coveted spot as one of Amazon’s best-selling carry-on suitcases , this under-$50 suitcase weighs less than 6 pounds and is a mere 20 inches in size, so it’s easy to lift. In addition to its convenient size, this suitcase boasts an organized, lined interior with multiple pockets, leaving plenty of space for your personal belongings.

Don’t: File or Clip Your Toenails During Your Flight

Do: Wear Compression Socks to Avoid Temptation and Relieve Tension

Charmking Compression Socks

Even though we have the utmost trust in our readers to know that you would never clip your toenails on a flight, I’ll use any opportunity to gush over how much compression socks make long travel days more comfortable. Wearing a pair of compression socks will not only wade off any temptation to clip or file your nails mid-flight, but the socks will also relieve tension by stimulating circulation in your legs and feet to reduce swelling in the air. These socks come in a convenient pack of three and are available in a plethora of colors including black , nude , and white .

Už tretíkrát sme boli na dovolenke s touto (týmito) CK. 1-krát sme boli spokojní. Druhýkrát nám určili iné miesto nástupu, delegát sa venoval svojej partnerke, šoféri ani len neinformovali, kde budeme stáť ako dlho. Jednoducho zastali v tichosti. Poniektorí ľudia vystúpili na toaletu, iní na cigaretu. Čas nám nebol určený, nevedeli sme, či to stihneme. Preto sme si vyberali zájazd cez ich cestovnú kanceláriu, lebo cestujeme stále s dvomi deťmi (4 a 6 ročné). Spokojní sme tohto roku boli so šoférmi, ktorí nás vždy vopred informovali, kde budeme stáť, ako dlho.

Boli sme s Tip travelom v júnu 2014 na dovolenke v depandancoch hotela Bellevue, Orebič, Chorvátsko a boli sme veľmi nespokojní s ubytovaním. Ubytovanie malo mať 3 hv., ale my by sme mu dali maximálne jednu. CK Tip Travel zavádza ľudí. Izby boli špinavé, v kúpelni hrdzavé odpady a stropy, samé pavučiny.

Izby rovnaké ako my, výhľady taktiež, jedlo a iné služby nápodobne. Mačky to tiež neselektovali.

V júli 2016 sme cez TIP Travel absolvovali nie najlacnejšiu ultra all inclusive dovolenku v Bulharsku, Elenite - Royal Club Victoria – hotel Atrium Beach.

,kto by to aspoň vysvetlil klientovi.

Dorazili sme tam okolo 9:00 ráno a delegátka nám zabezpečila ubytovanie až o 15:00 poobede. Dovtedy sme museli čakať vonku, nakoľko nám delegátka nevybavila žiadnu miestnosť kde by sme si unavení z cesty mohli oddýchnuť a počkať do 15:00. V deň odchodu sme museli opustiť izby o 10:00 a museli sme čakať vonku až do 20:00 kedy nám odchádzal autobus.

My sme sa vratili z pavilonov amarin v chorvatskom rovinj (3* hehehe) koncom augusta 2010.

Zaplatili sme neskutočnú sumu za 5*****hotel a dokonca to mal byť ultra all inclusive ale nakoniec podľa skutočnosti by som tomu hotelu dala maximum 3*** a iba all inclusive. By ma zaujímalo aký mafián ryžuje takto na ľuďoch????????Nikdy viac GANITA GARDEN RESORT AND SPA - HOTOVÝ HUMUSSSSSSSSSSSS

Tip Travel jednoducho hroza....

My sme boli na dovolenke s Tiptravel cestovkou v roku 2007 v chorvatskom Zadare. Nakoniec sme cestovali do ZA kde sme nastupili s dalsimi 2 ludmi a celu cestu sme isli do Bratislavy 4 ludia....vsetci ostatni si vybrali nastupne miesto BA takze autobus sa zaplnil tam.

:) tiptraveltatratour su super cestovka my s nimi cestujeme kazdy rok a sme velmi spokojny.Kto chce mat take perfekne sluzby tak nech si zaplati 5_hviezdickovy hotel ale my slovaci sme taky ze za 2 hviezdicky by sme chceli aspon 5 hviezdickove sluzby. No nie vsetci sme taky narocny a ked sa aj vyskytne nejaka malickost predsa si nedame pokazit dovolenku a ten nadherny pohlad na more ved preto tam ideme.Vsade kde sme s nimi boli bolo vyborne ubytovanie a vynikajuca strava.Prajem cestovke vela uspechov a spokojnych klientov.

Cestovky a majitelia hotelov len zneuzivaju naivitu a nescestovanost nasich ludi.....

200eurovu pokutu. Uz pri 1 dnovom meskani by dostali tuto pokutu. :-)))

My sme boli cez ck ceres a boli sme velmi spokojni, ubytovanie v Chorvatsku B)

Road Trips: How to Plan an Accessible Getaway

An illustration depicts two people happily chatting as they drive along a two-lane desert road with cactuses and rock outcroppings littering the dry landscape. The driver is disabled, and is using various specialized driving devices. Rugged mountains, a full yellow sun above them, rise up in the distance.

By Syren Nagakyrie

Planning an accessible road trip is getting a little easier for people with disabilities. There are more resources created by and for the disability community, and the tourism industry is starting to recognize the value of accessible travel. As a disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent person, I take road trips every year and have learned some tips and tricks along the way.

Renting a vehicle

Most major car companies offer adaptive driving devices for their vehicles at no additional cost. Enterprise , for example, offers hand controls, left foot accelerators, pedal extenders and spinner knobs to facilitate steering. Budget can provide hand controls, spinner knobs, a panoramic mirror, swivel seats and transfer boards. Be prepared to request adaptive devices at least three business days in advance.

For a wheelchair-accessible van with a ramp or a lift, rent from a mobility company like BraunAbility , one of the largest builders of wheelchair-accessible vans in the country, with rentals at many locations. MobilityWorks , an accessible-vehicle and adaptive-equipment dealer, has rental locations in 34 states. AccessibleGO , which offers a one-stop shop for adapted rental cars and wheelchair-accessible vans, has agreements with 100 wheelchair van rental locations nationwide; request a quote on their website. For accessibleGO’s rental cars, you can request hand controls and a spinner knob at checkout.

Route planning

You can use Google Maps, Waze and MapQuest for initial accessibility research using photos and street view. Google Maps provides directions for some wheelchair-accessible pedestrian and transit routes.

Sites such as Roadtrippers and Furkot can plot an entire itinerary. While these websites are not disability specific, they are invaluable tools. (Roadtrippers does have a wheelchair-accessible check box in the search function.) You can filter by types of destinations such as national parks or museums, and search for hotels and campgrounds. Furkot allows you to input how long you want to drive each day, whether you want to travel on Interstate highways or take more scenic roads. The app will determine the best route and length of time between stops, and suggest where to stay overnight.

Finding lodging

While hotels and other accommodations are required to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act, many hotels do not meet all accessibility needs. Most of the booking sites list hotels with accessible rooms for those with mobility, hearing and vision needs, but this information is not always verified. Do additional research on review sites and look for photos. Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton and Fairmont hotels offer allergy-friendly and scent-free rooms in some locations. Call the hotel to verify accessibility and to make sure a specific room is reserved for you.

Vacation rentals are typically not required to be A.D.A. compliant, but some do provide accessibility information. Airbnb recently rolled out an adapted category with accessibility search features and homes that have been scanned for accessibility. Review photos and contact the host for more information. Some hosts will make accommodations, such as changing the cleaning supplies or shifting furniture, but document your request using the in-app messaging system so that customer service can help if you run into issues.

Wheel the World is an accessible travel agency offering bookings at over 3,000 verified accessible hotels in the United States. The hotels have been reviewed in person by trained assessors; only those that meet the criteria are listed. Sign up as a disabled traveler or a companion and complete a personal profile that includes options for a variety of disabilities and accessibility needs. The site will provide listings that match your profile with partial, adequate and outstanding match options.

Food and medication

There are a variety of options to keep food or medication cold while traveling. Electric coolers can plug into your vehicle’s 12-volt outlet, but pay attention to the type of cooling mechanism — the less expensive versions are usually thermoelectric and will cool only to about 30 degrees below ambient temperature (if it is 70 degrees in the car, it will cool to 40 degrees). Compressor coolers are more expensive but maintain normal refrigerated temperatures.

Many hotels provide mini-refrigerators. When you know you will be stopping somewhere with a fridge almost every night, layer large ice packs and supplies in a cooler, then top them with another insulating layer like a cooling bag. This keeps everything cold for a couple of days at a time.

It’s also a good idea to travel with a single-burner cooktop — electric to use inside, or propane to use at rest areas and campgrounds — and a camp mess kit so that you can safely cook meals.

Some of the best apps to find food, restaurants and grocery stores that accommodate dietary needs are Fig for allergy-specific options, Happy Cow for vegan-friendly options and Find Me Gluten Free for celiac-safe spots. Add your favorite options to the route-planning app so that you know where to stop.

Finding activities

In addition to the apps mentioned in the route-planning section, state and local tourism organizations are good sources for accessible destinations.

National parks and monuments, which are required to meet federal accessibility guidelines, typically have visitor centers and recreation sites with accessible features. Each park website has information, as well as programs and services within the park. While accessibility varies, you can usually find information on wheelchair-accessible trails and campsites, tactile and audio features, assistive listening devices, and American Sign Language interpreters.

At state parks, accessibility features may not be consistent, but you can usually find some information on each park’s website.

Apps like AllTrails list wheelchair-friendly trails across the country, but the information may not be verified, so contact the park or land manager for verification. Among the parks with notable accessible trails are Redwood National and State Parks, North Cascades National Park, Badlands National Park, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park .

Construction to begin on high-speed rail between Vegas and California

Brightline west will make the trip between las vegas and rancho cucamonga in a little over two hours.

Privately owned train company Brightline will break ground next week on a $12 billion high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas and Southern California.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will join company leaders and other officials for the start of construction in Las Vegas on Monday, the Department of Transportation confirmed. The ceremony was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Brightline West benefits from $3 billion in federal funds from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Trains could be running as soon as early 2028, in time for the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Travelers have a lot to look forward to. Electric trains will depart every 45 minutes from a Las Vegas station south of the city’s storied Strip and a Southern California station in Rancho Cucamonga, a Los Angeles suburb about 40 miles east of downtown.

Traveling at up to 186 mph — faster than any other train in the United States — Brightline West trains will make the 218-mile trip in about 2 hours and 10 minutes.

“At long last, we’re building the first high-speed rail project in our nation’s history,” President Biden said of Brightline West in December. “We’ve been talking about this project for decades. Now we’re really getting it done.”

Other high-speed railroads that would carry passengers at 200 mph and faster are in the works in California, Texas and the Pacific Northwest.

Driving between Rancho Cucamonga and Las Vegas takes at least three hours without traffic, according to Google Maps.

“You’ll be sitting there flying by on Brightline looking at all these brake lights on the highway and thinking, ‘It sucks to be you,’” said Jim Mathews, CEO of the Rail Passengers Association , said on Friday. “That’s what it’s going to be like for all those people trying to get from greater Los Angeles to Las Vegas.”

Brightline West trains will run along Interstate 15 for nearly their entire journey. They will make two intermediate stops in California: one in Hesperia and one in Apple Valley.

Travelers coming from Los Angeles will have the option of riding Metrolink , Southern California’s regional rail system, to the Rancho Cucamonga station located near the junction of Interstates 10 and 15. The trip between downtown Los Angeles and Rancho Cucamonga takes at least 50 minutes by car without traffic, or 1 hour and 15 minutes on the train.

Speed won’t be the only reason to ride Brightline West.

Brightline’s Florida operation connecting Miami to Orlando opened in September , giving future customers out West an idea of what to expect. Before Brightline’s debut, Amtrak held a monopoly on intercity passenger rail travel for decades.

Stations are spacious with comfortable areas to sit, bars selling craft cocktails and a lounge for premium passengers. Onboard, travelers enjoy assigned seats and fast WiFi. Attendants come down the aisle serving snacks and drinks throughout the trip.

Brightline told investors that it carried a record 258,307 passengers in March, and that one in three of its trains were nearly full.

Brightline’s strong ridership, though slower than initially promised to investors, makes a strong case for building fast and frequent trains between major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Brightline West estimates that 6 million people will ride its trains during the first full year of operation, according to a federal environmental assessment . That number is projected to grow to as many as 9.2 million people within a decade.

The company estimates that, without the train, three-quarters of its riders would drive between Southern California and Las Vegas. Another 15 percent would fly, and the balance would not make the trip at all.

Bad behavior: Entitled tourists are running amok, defacing the Colosseum , getting rowdy in Bali and messing with wild animals in national parks. Some destinations are fighting back with public awareness campaigns — or just by telling out-of-control visitors to stay away .

Safety concerns: A door blew off an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 jet, leaving passengers traumatized — but without serious injuries. The ordeal led to widespread flight cancellations after the jet was grounded, and some travelers have taken steps to avoid the plane in the future. The incident has also sparked a fresh discussion about whether it’s safe to fly with a baby on your lap .
