This is an improved version of my previous work, with the following changes:

• Different printing orientation for body parts allowing more rounded edges and support free prints, also nicer surface finish.
• Arm cutout for more ergonomic playing experience.
• Neck and bridge are recessed into the body more thus making the instrument even thinner, and allowing the pickups to be closer to the strings.
• Magnetic openable legrest for playing without a strap.
• Output jack was moved to the left side, and acts as a strap button as well.
• Metal backplate thickness reduced to 3mm as the previous 5mm was probably overkill, and made it real heavy.
• Many tolerance issues fixed, dimensions adjusted.

Printing instructions are added as notes to each part file.

• Printing the main body should be done similar to this:

• Here is a basic drawing for the 3mm backplate. For more accurate dimensions or cnc machining, look for the .f3d file provided.

• For the legrest, insert 6x2 round magnets into both the body and the legrest.

3d model description.

My Own Design: Guitarlele

The Guitarlele is essentially a small classical guitar with the size of a ukulele. My goal was to create a guitar that could be tuned the same way as a full-sized guitar.

The tuning is as follows: e, b, g, D, A, E.

As a musician, I wanted a compact guitar for my living room—a versatile instrument for practicing well-known songs by favorite bands, fingerpicking, and playing classic tunes. While it’s not very loud, it’s perfect for practice. It’s in tune across all frets and octaves (although you’ll need to adjust the nut and saddle).

The design of the guitarlele was based on a real model, including bracing, soundboard dimensions, and other details.

Here’s the Bill of Materials (BOM) you’ll need for the construction:

PLA filament (approximately 0.5 kg)

This project made sense to me because I could showcase a fully functional product from my 3D printer, have it readily available for playing, and derive joy from it.
