You don't have to worry who will be picking you up for your tour. I drive all of my own tours so that I can be sure you will have the exact experience you are looking for!

While I'm not a professional photographer, I will take  awesome photos of you and your group throughout our tour and you will have them right afterwards.

I pride myself on being the ONLY tour operator on Oahu (and likely Hawaii) that offers an ANYTIME cancellation policy. This means if plans change for whatever reason, you may cancel right up until the last second and still receive a 100% refund!

I stand behind my work, and If you are not happy with our time together I will refund your money. Been doing this almost 5 years, and it hasn't happened yet :)

We are a local, family company.

With so many tour companies operating on Oahu, it can be difficult to decide who to place your trust in. Although there is nothing wrong with taking a larger bus tour of Oahu, I feel that nothing can compare with having someone build a customized experience for your family.

Whether you want to swim with the turtles, or hike through the jungle to a beautiful waterfall, I can create the perfect day for your group. Unlike larger bus tours, you have complete flexibility during your private adventure with me. I have a long list of amazing places i recommend we see, but your day is totally customizable. Here are just a few of the many reasons I think our day together will be the highlight of your vacation: I use clean, new model vehicles for our tour. I include breakfast from the famous Leonard's Bakery for all of my guests. WIFI is available in all of my vehicles. I provide snorkeling equipment. I will be your personal photographer for the day, taking HD photos and emailing them to you at no charge. We were a party of 5. Kevin picked us up at Aulani for a 6hr tour. From the very beginning, we knew we picked a great tour guide. The North Shore trip was amazing with stops at different locations. So much interesting information, had us asking follow-up questions. Highly recommended!

I'm so glad I found this company on Yelp. I was visiting Hawaii with my family that included my young child and elderly parents. We needed a tour where we could customize and not be told how long we had to stay at destinations, etc...At first I was hesitant on if I could trust a private tour company but I trust Yelp and decided to go for it. Best decision ever. Kevin is the owner and a one man show, which guarantees a top notch professional experience. He kept the lines of communication open, answering all questions both before and during the tour. He arrived at our hotel early, with a clean van and cooler of water. He greeted us with a smile and we were off for a day full of scenic stops! We started off with donuts from Leonard's which we ate on the beach at the Kahala hotel, a nice, quiet hotel popular with celebrities and past presidents. The hotel has turtles, fish, and dolphins on property. Then he drove us all around the island to scenic hot spots. We stopped at some quiet beaches where we were the only ones around. He took amazing photos for us along the way. Later, we picked a spot for lunch. Once our time was over, he drove us back to our hotel. We all had a great day and it was a highlight of our trip. Plus we have some wonderful family photos thanks to Kevin. I recommend this as a must do while visiting!

Kevin was incredible. First of all, everything was so convenient. He picked us up and dropped us off from our hotel and even had a car seat for our use during the trip. We saw and explored so much in 6 hours and in places we would never have been able to find ourselves. The views we saw and the fun we had was worth every penny! Can't wait to come back next year and do it all over again. Thanks Kevin!

Today my daughter, Char, and I had encountered one of Hawaii's finest tour service, "Escape Waikiki Tours", which is owned and operated by Kevin; we had taken tour guides before but none of them can matched Escape Waikiki Tours can/will provide for you. The owner/operator is very knowledgeable of Hawaii and to our amazement not locally born. Furthermore he was confident, customer's service oriented and very accommodating with our requests & needs. I would definitely recommend this company if you want to know about Honolulu; it's worth the money.

I was interested in booking a private tour to get away from "touristy" Honolulu. My goal was to see local hot spots, private beaches and eat some local food. Really really enjoyed our private tour with Kevin!!!! This is THE BEST private tour in Honolulu. This tour provided me with everything I wished for and more!!!! First off, the communication from the initial booking and final email confirmation was very professional. Kevin promptly responded via text and email. He even gave tips on things (other than his tour) to do during our stay. Kevin picked us up on time at our Waikiki hotel. I immediately recognized his love/passion for his job, personalizing the tour to meet our needs and his knowledge of the island. We had amazing donuts at the famous Leonard's Bakery. Cold waters were provided throughout the day and we had an amazing lunch at a famous food truck stop. Kevin suggested several dishes; which we tried. The food was delicious and seasoned to perfection. Throughout the tour, we saw some of THE most amazing private beaches and lookout points. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the beaches were. Kevin was very accommodating! He was informative, gave a few history lessons, was very out-going and gave us a fabulous experience. More than anything, Kevin is "good peeps"...family man who works hard! I couldn't imagine spending 6 hours with a jerk or someone I didn't vibe with. To put the cherry on the top..Kevin took pictures of us and sent them soon as the tour ended. He really goes out of his way to make his customers happy. What are you waiting for????? Book this tour. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. It's worth the money.

Enjoyed every minute of this tour! Kevin was awesome, personable, easy to talk to and he made the day very fun! My husband and I loved seeing all the hidden places on the southeast side of the island. Kevin took us to secluded places with the most beautiful views. We were shocked that there weren't more people around. Apparently the big tour company busses are not allowed in many of these places- which was awesome for us. We got great Hd pictures, a lot of historical info, and cool suggestions for things to do for the rest of our trip. Would definitely recommend touring with Kevin if you're in Waikiki. You won't regret it!

What an awesome experience! We did the East Coast tour with Kevin and it was the best experience ever! We wouldn't have seen the beauty this side of Oahu had we chosen to do the bus tour. My boyfriend and I had the best experience with Kevin. He was super friendly and made us laugh the entire tour which made the time even more enjoyable. The tour didnt feel rushed and it was at our pace. Kevin was very accomodating and made sure to stop at places that we passed through along the way at our request. He also showed us some of the most beautiful spots in hawaii and was even our personalized photographer the whole way. Thumbs up to an amazing tour. Just spent the day with Kevin showing my wife and I the best of Honolulu and he did a fantastic job. Being a personal tour has great benefits and you realize that at your first destination which is one of the most posh hotels around. The great part is that it's open to the public to access their great beach. Also the have a lagoon in the back that has dolphins and green sea turtles. You're literally inches from them and it's amazing. We also enjoyed some Leonard's donuts on the beach. All of the stops were really special which were hard to access which means all the other tours don't stop at. They were worth the small effort to get to. All were amazing. Another benefit of Kevin's tour is he takes a ton of pictures which he's really good at it. He then air drops them right to your iPhone. We did stop to have lunch at an awesome little restaurant that is hot spot for locals. Best coconut shrimp ever. You will not be disappointed if you take this tour. Spend a little more and leave the big busses behind.

Announcing Menehune Marvels Photo / Video Scavenger Hunt Game

Scaventour™ has a brand new game called Menehune Marvels . It is a modern version of a scavenger hunt, where your group can form teams (or just play as one team) and engage in a series of tasks in Waikiki where you will be required to take pictures or upload videos of your team doing something at the location. The groups who have played this game have really enjoyed the video tasks the most as it makes them the "star of the show!" For a limited time we have these games available for $24 per person. This is a great game for all ages (mainly teenagers and above, though if you have some younger kids in the group, there are definitely things they can do in the game). Looking for things to do in Honolulu? Scaventour™ is a live action outdoor escape game that is modeled off of an escape room game, but instead of the game taking place indoors in a private venue, it is outside in public spaces. Like an escape room, players are challenged to open many locked cases and bags in order to find the next location and get to the end within 60 minutes. At times, Scaventour™ will feel like an escape game, but other times, it feels like a scavenger hunt, or a treasure hunt, or even like in a famous code breaking movie, or one about a treasure hunt. Book now to enjoy a tour / game experience that is like no other you've ever encountered.

Perhaps you have played outdoor scavenger hunts or murder mysteries before. This main Scaventour games are closer to an escape game because you have a guide who acts as the game master. The guide is very important because he or she allows the game to be complex, but also have help if your group needs it. So, this isn't a self-guided game, rather it is what you would expect to find in an escape room, but outside.

We have different games for different size groups.

• 3-12 people (adults and children) can play the 60 minute Duke's Revenge game or the Tourist Trap game in Waikiki.
• 2-1250 people can play the 90 minute Video / Photo Scavenger Hunt game Menehune Marvels in Waikiki or Magic Island (or could be customized for your location).
• 10-48 people can play the 90 minute King's Battle game in Waikiki or Downtown where players will be sorted into teams and will compete against each other and the clock.
• 4-400 people can play the competitive 90 minute Cryptic Murder game in Central Waikiki. For parties larger than 60 people, please email [email protected]. Good for corporate team building activities .
• 4-200 people can play the competitive 90 minute The Hunt game in Downtown Honolulu. For parties larger than 60 people, please email [email protected]. Good for corporate team building activities .
• 16-600 people can play the competitive 90 minute Double Agents Waikiki Espionage game in which teams will compete to find the identity of the double agent that can help you defect. Good for corporate team building activities .
• With the Lost Key game, we have had a couple opportinites to run these as custom events at a location of your choice. Fill out a contact form if you want more information on that. Watch our Facebook video that shows the end of one of the games, seeing the successful teams' excitement as they opened the safe.

Most games are $29 per person (kids under 14 are $24 per person for Duke's Revenge and Tourist Trap).

How does Scaventour™ work?

For the route based games ( Duke's Revenge and Tourist Trap ) a guide meets you at a designated spot. The guide gives you a quick brief, then gives you a backpack. All of the pockets are locked on the backpack. Just like in an escape room, you have to open a lot of locks. Inside the pockets are clues. Those clues are relevant at different places in Waikiki. You have to walk to the place, use the clue to help solve a puzzle by looking at the clue and then finding something at your destination that is related to the clue.

Eventually, the puzzle will yield a combination that will help you unlock one of the locks. Once you open the lock, you will find another puzzle and another destination. The destinations are no more than 100 yards apart. You will walk to the next place and repeat this (some places have multiple puzzles in a single location).

You have 60 minutes to walk the 1.5 mile course and solve the puzzles.

The team competitive games work a little different. King's Battle game pits team versus team in a game with real time scoring and a punishing clock. Teams have 5 zones, 5 puzzles in each zone, and 10 minutes to solve those puzzles to get points. Highest score wins. This game normally takes 2 hours to complete. Of the larger games, this one is the most competitive and intense since there are 5 times during the game that the clock will get to 0 seconds left, so timing is very taxing on the teams.-->

For Cryptic Murder or Double Agents each team is given a packet with 12-14 puzzles and 90 minutes to manage your time and walk through the area solving puzzles to allow you to determine the identify of the murderer or double agent. Highest Score wins (if only one team, the team that identifies the murderer wins). This game normally takes 2 hours to complete.

For the Lost Key game, each team is given a packet with 16 puzzles and 75 minutes to solve the puzzles in order to figure out the combination to open your uncle's safe.

For The Hunt , each team is given a packet of puzzles and has 90 minutes to return with a completed treasure map. The team that is closest to the treasure location wins. This game also normally takes 2 hours to complete from start to finish.

For Menehune Marvels Scavenger Hunt , every person on the team has access to the app and the list of tasks. This modern version of a Scavenger Hunt game puts the players as the stars as many tasks required you to find something or go somewhere (like to a statue, or the beach, or a park bench, or a bus stop) and then either answer questions about that place or perform a task. It is a 90 minute game, but it can be customized for longer or shorter or at different locations. It is very popular for both groups of teenagers and for adults, alike.

The larger games are great for corporate teambuilding or building military cohesion.

Cryptic Murder, Lost Key, and Double Agents games can each be scheduled at any time of day, depending on availability. Since The Hunt is downtown, we prefer to do that game just during the day.

Where are the Scaventour™ games?

We currently have 7 games that can be scheduled online in Hawaii. All games (even the competitive ones) can be played by one team of 4-6 players if you just want to work cooperatively. We do not have a physical location, rather our gamemasters meet you at the start point of the game and give you the game materials to play the game. Duke's Revenge and Tourist Trap are the best games for 3-12 people to play cooperatively. The Lost Key can either be competitive (for up to 250 people) or could be played cooperatively for 4-8 people. The Hunt and Cryptic Murder are primarily competitive games (where teams of 4-5 compete against each other), but if you only have a team of 4 - 6 people and want to just play cooperatively to try to achieve the objectives, they can. Due to the difficulty of the puzzles, we really do not recommend the competitive games for groups that have a lot of kids under 14 in them, but if you have one or maybe 2 children who are pretty smart, there are ways for them to participate. We have modified Cryptic Murder and Lost Key previously for large groups of 12-13 year old kids, but each team that has kids 13 and under must have an adult over 18 chaperoning them. If you have groups of teens that are over 14, they do not necessarily need an adult, but please do not book games that would take place after the sunsets.

The newest game, our Menehune Marvels Scavenger Hunt, is currently set up starting in the same location as the Lost Key, but that game can be customized to be played anywhere and can be for a small group or a giant corporate event with up to 1250 people.

Additionally, the Duke's Revenge, Cryptic Murder, and Lost Key games can be played after dark. All other games must be played prior to the sunsetting. If you do schedule a game after dark, you may need flashlights. Most teams can make due with the lights on their phones, but feel free to bring your own flashlights as desired.

Mission: The volcano eruption is eminent. Only members of the "Secretive Scaventour™ Society" will be allowed to leave through a special flight arrangement. In order to gain admittance into this historic organization, you must complete the game.

A guide will meet you and take you to the start point. You'll have 60 minutes to complete all of the assigned tasks and open the case to earn your membership and get off the island. Are you up for the challenge?

Scaventour is a walking game, not a running game. Some teams have tried to run, but almost all of them have failed.

For teams that have younger players or novices, some of the puzzles are modified to better suit their skill level. Furthermore, there are some additional components of the game that can be added if you have a couple of players as young as 7 playing the game.

Prices start at $29 for adults (over 14 years old) and $24 for kids 7-14 years old. We do not recommend bringing any kids 6 or younger. For Duke's Revenge and Tourist Trap, we do not recommend having more than 2 kids between the age of 7 and 10. It is our experience that kids over 10 can materially participate in the games. For kids between 7 and 10, there is a side activity they can do to help the team, but having more than 2 kids doing that isn't ideal.

If you have only two people, there is a way you can still book Duke's or Trap, but you will have to choose the private party option, which adds a one time fee of $35. Essentially, with the amount we pay our gamemasters, we would lose money on a 2 player game, but we have had enough people express interest who are willing to pay a bit more, so we allow it as a private party.

Duke's Revenge

This game is in Waikiki and is a walking tour that will challenge you with a series of locks and clues that will engage you with the area like you haven't seen before. Beware of the back alleys and getting sunburnt, but time is limited and you're trying to complete the tasks with little time to spare.

A guide will meet you at the Stones of Life on Kalakaua (between the Duke Kahanamoku statue and the Waikiki Police Substation and across from the Hyatt) on the east side of Waikiki. The guide is akin to the gamemaster in an escape room and will assist you as needed. The guide will ensure the game keeps moving and you don't get lost.

3-12 players (6-8 ideal) - Kids welcome (recommended 7 and older).

If you are booking with younger kids, we recommend booking as a private party so that you don't have "strangers" book in your same time slot.

If you would like to do 2 players, select the private option first and then there will be a dropdown to allow you to choose 2-12 people. Choosing private party adds a one time $35 fee.

This game is a walking game. One of the participants will carry a backpack. All participants should wear comfortable shoes. For this game, players can be expected to walk 1.5 miles.

Tourist Trap

Explore the west side of Waikiki in this challenging game. This game is in Waikiki and is a walking tour with a touch of military and Hawaiian history. Experience a series of locks and clues while engaging in Waikiki. Beware of sunburnt tourists and high end shops, and complete the tasks with time to spare.

A guide will meet you at the Army Museum at Fort DeRussy (Between the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Outrigger .... near Hale Koa) and will provide assistance if you need it. The guide is like to the gamemaster in an escape room and will assist you as needed. The guide will ensure the game keeps moving and you don't get lost.

3-12 players - Kids welcome (recommended 7 and older).

The King's Battle (10-40 players)

This escape game is designed for up to 5 teams of 8 people each (5-8 per team is ideal). Battle against opposing teams, as well as the clock. Keep your wits, use good communication and strategy and your team could come out on top. This game is the most challenging game with some clues rating 4 out of 4 on the difficulty scale. The game is 51 minutes of game time to solve 26 puzzles, but typically lasts a little more than 90 minutes from arrival to departure.

We have one game in Waikiki and on special request, we can run one in Downtown Honolulu on Fort Street Mall.

The Cryptic Murder (4-400 players)

This escape game is designed for up to 80 teams of 4-5 people each. Compete against other teams to determine which of the suspects is the murderer. This game is challenging, requiring teams to strategize, be aware to time managemnet, and solve puzzles with a range of complexity in order to win the game. The game is 90 minutes of game time to solve 14 puzzles.

The Lost Key (4-400 players)

This escape game is designed for up to 50 teams of 4-8 people each. It is a competitive game requiring teams to come up with a strategy for getting the information to solve the puzzles and working as a team to solve as many of the puzzles as possible. The game is 75-90 minutes of game time to solve 16 puzzles; there is a little bit less walking involved than all the other games, and the puzzle difficulty isn't as hard as Cryptic Murder, Double Agents, or The Hunt.

This game is typically played on the eastern side of Waikiki near the Waikiki Zoo, though this is also a game we could potentially customize for your location for a corporate team building event.

The Hunt (4-200 players)

This treasure hunt game is designed for up to 40 teams of 4-5 people each. Compete against other teams to fill in the information on a treasure map to find the location of the treasure. The game is 90 minutes of game time to solve 14 puzzles.

This game is in downtown Honolulu (largely around Alakea and Bishop Streets), and is good for downtown businesses for corporate team building.

Inside Threat (15-60 players)

Looking for a game at your facility. Allow Scaventour to bring the outside game inside with this game that can be played and customized at your location. Teams will compete to solve puzzles and find clues to solve an underlying mystery problem. Great for teambuilding.

Down Memory Lane (A game at your home)

Looking for a competitive game to play in your home for a large group? This game allows you to split into teams and compete to see who can solve the puzzles directed in your long-lost rich uncle's will. The game is a combination of physical and mental puzzles and games in which you score points to determine a winner.

Typically need 15 days lead time.

Double Agents (100-500 players)

Teams will explore Waikiki and attempt to decrypt the codes and find the agents who are hiding in plain sight. Some of the agents are good. Some are double agents. Your task to to find them all and determine which to trust. If you can solve their puzzles, the you will receive information that will allow you to determine the Double Agent's identity. Team winners will receive a Scaventour coin.

Explore the historic section of Downtown Honolulu surrounding the Iolani Palace and the King Kamehameha Statue. This challenge will take you into the heart of the town where you will face patterns, numbers and dates that will keep you on your toes. Is 60 minutes enough? Only time will tell!

If you want the game to be private, there is an option to make it private. Otherwise, there is a chance that you could end up being paired with another group in the booking.

How does it work?

For the route based games ( Duke's Revenge and Tourist Trap ) a guide meets you at a designated spot. The guide gives you a quick brief, then gives you a backpack. All of the pockets are locked on the backpack. Just like in an escape room, you have to open a lot of locks. Inside the pockets are clues. Those clues are relevant at different places in Waikiki. You have to walk to the place, use the clue to help solve a puzzle by looking at the clue and then finding something at your destination that is related to the clue (so if your clue had several bank logos, you might find an ATM at the destination that has those same bank logos ... and your clue would help you figure out how to turn that into numbers).

For the team / competitive games, you will split your party into teams (normally 4-5 per team, though we could do 3 people on a team if there are 6 people in the group). The gamemaster meets you at the start point and gives each team a packet that has from 12-16 puzzles to solve. Correctly solving those puzzles will help solve the master puzzle at the end. Teams are scored based on how many puzzles they solve correctly, as well as their answer on the master puzzle, and at the end, one team will be declare the winner of the game.
