Long to see him one more time in my lifetime

I live in California- he seems to say he has no plans to ever be back in the US - — maybe Ireland? Scotland? I have family/friends there & would plan a trip around his concert appearance.... unfortunately have no family in Australia

I've been to several Eric Bogle concerts, and enjoyed all of them very much. He puts so much meaning into his songs. Will he ever come to the Blue Mountains now, or is he semi retired?

Eric Bogle is an internationally known and respected songwriter. For nearly 40 years he has toured the world with his music, inflicting his songs on innocent bystanders from outback Australia to the streets of New York and many places in between. During those 40 years he has embarked on eight tours of North America, 11 tours of Europe and many, many tours of Australia, with 4 tours of New Zealand thrown in as well. He has performed at many of the major folk and music festivals around the globe, including Port Fairy, Woodford and The National in Australia, Philadelphia, Mariposa and Vancouver in North America, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and the Celtic Music Festival in Lorient, France, as well as treading the boards in countless folk, footy, bowling and social clubs and arts theatres all around the world

Eric Bogle in Edinburgh, Brittany & Ireland

Eric Bogle made a short but very welcome visit to Europe during August 2016, along with John Munro & Peter Titchener.

The two concerts at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh , were sold out. The atmosphere in the hall was electric and standing ovations were the order of the day. The Dublin and Belfast gigs were packed and Eric and his two mates thoroughly enjoyed the Irish trip. The trio were guests at Lorient Celtic Music Festival in France.

Eric’s two performances in Ireland were associated with the Battle Of The Somme Centenary commemorations and the Irish regiments who fought in this tragic battle.

With 14 albums to his credit, appearances at every major Folk & Country Music Festival around the world and a touring schedule that has included eight tours of North America, ten around Europe and multiple Australian shows, Eric Bogle has decided that it is time to take it easy. This will be his last extensive tour in Australia.

Described as a living legend, a label he’s uncomfortable with, but points out is “marginally better than being a dead legend…”.

This last legendary Australian tour will be one not to be missed.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Eric Bogle is one of the best and most prolific songwriters of the last several decades.

An Australian resident for 53 years, and an Australian citizen since 1982, he is an internationally known and respected singer/songwriter who has toured internationally for 25 years up until 2009, in spite of warnings to “stop it or you’ll go blind”. Whilst Eric usually confines his touring to Australia and New Zealand, he has not given up songwriting and recording.

Eric is a warm and engaging stage performer, and his songs have the knack of getting straight to the heart of the matter with intelligent and well-crafted lyrics. His songs have been recorded by many other artists ranging from Joan Baez, Donovan, The Pogues and Mary Black through to our own late, great Slim Dusty. Voices is Eric’s 16th CD and confirms his status as one of Australia’s most renowned folk singer songwriters.

Very much ahead of the pack, Eric Bogle wrote the classic And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda and No Man’s Land (The Greenfields Of France) , which were placed No.1 and 5 respectively in a Celebrity Top 50 Songs Poll in a national newspaper, above such international artists as Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Leonard Cohen and John Prine.

In 1987 Eric received the OAM from the Australian Government for his services to the entertainments industry, and in 1986 he received the United Nations Peace medal for his contribution, through his music, to the cause of peace.

Although he has now decided to stop touring overseas, Eric is still doing the occasional concert / festival in Australia as the spirit moves him, which he hopes to keep doing until someone switches off the lights, which he further hopes will be around 2045AD.

Hello to all my Kiwi friends.

Looking forward very much to visiting your lovely country again and inflicting my songs on all of you who hope to attend one of my concerts, and probably on some innocent bystanders as well. I’ve written quite a few new songs since I last toured New Zealand. And when was that I hear you ask? I can’t really remember, I never was good with dates, but I think it was when Piggy Muldoon was your prime Minister. No, couldn’t be that long surely, I think that was the first time I toured New Zealand, not the last.

Anyway, your taste in Prime Ministers has definitely improved since then, and I hope Jacinda comes to one of my concerts, she likes music so I hear. Might not like my sort of music though….. doesn’t matter really, my main hope is not that Jacinda attends one of my concerts, but that you still have hokey-pokey ice cream for sale in your country. Oh, and Bluff oysters as well……hopefully, Covid permitting, we (Pete Titchener, Emma Luker and myself) will see you October this year
